A Day in the Life of Freddy Bauer: Navigating Homelessness in Los Angeles
A Day in the Life of Freddy Bauer The day was shaping up to be another long one for Freddy Bauer. He ambled down the sun-bleached, stuccoed outdoor hallways of the Hotel Silver Lake, carefully sidestepping the occasional mound of trash that dotted the path. It was late August, and the heat hung in the air like a heavy blanket. Mr. Bauer, a dedicated case manager, was on a mission to assist…

Dan Bauer: Murphy, Brewers master class in team first
"Whenever this Brewers season ultimately ends, it has been an enormous success. Those who will call it a failure if it comes up short will ignore all the greatness of this season." - Dan Bauer
The successful season of the Milwaukee Brewers is hard to ignore. Whether or not it results in a second trip to the World Series and an elusive World Championship remains to be seen. Whatever the final chapter reveals it has been a master class in the elements of teamwork, perseverance and attitude. First year manager Pat Murphy’s “old school” approach has been a huge success. I don’t think it…

For a moment, Ryan is speechless. Was that why she had brought along Graham? To rub it in Freddie's face in hopes that he'd come chasing after her? Maybe. She purses her lips, glaring at the other. "Fuck you." The redhead eventually spats. "I don't need you. I've never needed you. I've survived since you broke things off, haven't I?"
"Have you always been so shameless?" Freddie asks lowly like it's a secret. Like he's uncovering some truth of the universe. He wants to whisper. Except they're so close he can see the vein pulse in their neck. Alive. "What did you think would happen if you brought someone else? I would be upset? You thought I'd throw a fucking fit." Freddie's grinning and he can't help himself. "But in all your shamelessness you can't help yourself. You still need me so bad don't you?" @thcbclter

New Fic Alert!
Excerpt:
If Jack notices that Will makes eye contact with me – an anomaly for an alleged first meeting, to be sure – he makes no indication. If he notices my smile is laced with a petty sort of satisfaction — one that says, perhaps, this is what happens when you refuse to acknowledge what we mean to one another — he again masks any sign. I’m surprised at myself. Up until this moment I hadn’t realized I was harboring resentment regarding Will’s insistence on discretion. Keeping our affair a secret has benefited me in several ways, the least of which is ensuring I wouldn’t be a suspect, should Will disappear or be found in another of the Ripper’s tableaus.
But I do resent it, with a strength that borders on fury.
I slam that particular door in my mind and force my heartrate back into a comfortable zone, chastising myself. This meeting is the culmination of what began a year ago on this day. I am now a friend of the FBI and privy to its secrets. Jack already said he’d show me the Chesapeake Ripper’s file, a scrapbook of my treasured memories.
“Will Graham. Meet Dr. Hannibal Lecter. He’s a friend of Alana Bloom’s. I asked him to join us today to look at this case – add another layer of insight.”
Will strips off his jacket, tossing it on one of Jack’s office chairs near the door. He fiddles with the collar of his shirt, deliberately not looking at me. How I long to see him in something that fits him well and wasn’t selected from Lands’ End or Eddie Bauer. His figure would be devastating in tailored trousers. Jack glances at me apologetically with a miniscule shrug. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Jack’s administrative assistant pops his head in. “Mr. Graham, can I get you a coffee?”
Black, with two sugar packets.
“Black,” Will says over his shoulder as he pauses in front of the board Jack’s assembled, surveying the bland faces of the victims. I’m sure they all would have made lovely real estate agents or business majors. “Sugar. Two of ‘em.”
The assistant returns with an ebony mug, placing it on the front of Jack’s desk in reaching distance from the empty chair that Will must soon occupy. Across from Jack and right next to me. As Jack begins the meeting, he takes the seat reluctantly after a time, unable to avoid proximity any longer. “I’ve filled Dr. Lecter in on the details, and your observations at the Nichols house. We were just getting to all the false confessions coming into the tip lines.”
“Maladjusted teens and the mentally ill,” Will grunts, emptying sugar packets into his mug and stirring them with the red plastic stick provided. “Influenced by the media coverage.”
I get to my feet just to pass behind him, get a lungful of his scent, clean and crisp like the woods around his home, carrying soft traces of his dogs and the remnants of engine grease under his fingernails. Delicious, now that I’ve gotten him to stop wearing that abominable aftershave. I lean toward the board, Jack at my side; I pretend to study the map and its connecting lines. I can feel Will’s eyes on me, burning into me with the heat of agonized betrayal. I’ve certainly knocked him off balance – good. “Tell me then, how many confessions?”
“Twelve dozen, last time I checked. None of them knew the details. Until this morning. Then everyone knew the details.” Jack resumes his seat. I stand at the board, looking at him, feeling the waves of irritation as they roll off Will like smoke. “Some genius in Duluth PD took a picture of Elise Nichols’ body with their phone and shared it with their friends. Then Freddie Lounds ran it on Tattlecrime.com.”
“Tasteless,” Will mutters half under his breath. He might mean Ms. Lounds’ journalism practices, but I think he’s referring to my surprise appearance at his place of work. Again, I feel the base satisfaction of having rattled him. Forcing him to reap what he’s sown, give him a taste of what I’ve endured — his own shame and discomfort transferring to me by proxy when he insisted we keep our affections secret, hiding them like our relationship was something rotten that needed to be buried, decomposing out of sight, out of mind.
“Do you have trouble with taste?” I ask, softly benign. My therapy voice. Will hates it.
“My thoughts are often not tasty.” I do love watching him squirm. But my enjoyment is clouded by sudden images of comforting Will in the wake of his bloody investigations, holding him through his suffering, waking him when I knew he was having nightmares so vivid they dampened our sheets with terror sweat.
“Nor mine. No effective barriers.” He knows this. I told him about Mischa. He’s the first person I’ve told, save Bedelia du Maurier. He doesn’t know that I ate her but understands how she was taken from me.
“I make forts.”
“Associations come quickly,” I say. This may appear to Jack like some brilliant on-the-spot psychoanalysis, but I know because Will’s told me his traumas in return.
“So do forts,” he insists, looking down into the sweet blackness of his coffee cup with a petulant little turn to his lip.
I continue to twist the knife. “Not fond of eye contact, are you?
Will turns to me. “Eyes are distracting. You see too much. You don’t see enough.” As in, he’s scolding himself for not anticipating I’d do something like this. He looks directly at me now. “And it’s hard to focus when you’re thinking those whites are really white or they must have hepatitis, or is that a burst vein?” Cheeky, yes, but also a jab – I did burst a vein in my left eye during our time at the cabin on the ranch in West Virginia due to a particularly powerful orgasm. He chided me then for my vanity as I lamented the bloody speck marring my sclera.

2, 8 and 20 for the ocverse ask meme :3
2.) if you gave an in depth description of your story to someone who was not all the way paying attention, what would their takeaway be?
A: cruelty is a choice, and the strongest decision u can make is to be kind in a hostile world. also just accept yourself for who you are and stop trying to meet harmful expectations imposed upon u by people or society around u.
8.) what inspired your world building, if anything?
A: i think the biggest inspiration is misc. swedish media aimed at kids, generally folklore is pretty present there which inspired me to make it kind of a Crux in pareidolia. some specific inspirations from that when it comes to vibes are emil i lönneberga by astrid lindgren and pettson och findus by sven nordqvist - these are most relevant to the worldbuilding surrounding folke but yk. art by ppl like john bauer were also very present when i grew up and also depicted lots of folklore which has also inspired my focus on it.
now regarding the actual worldbuilding of creature species a lot of it is based on my Casual Interest In Animals so they often just gather traits/behaviours based upon misc animals. and ofc i gather from the actual folklore theyre based on. ive always liked concepts where the established idea of a creature or concept is different from how it is in reality, so thats what ive tended to aim for for most of the creatures.
20.) your ocverse just got a movie trilogy a la hunger games style. how have they horribly mangled your message/theme so that the movies are now a showcase of what the original was condemning?
A: arvo is 10x more horrible and commits even more crime and manipulates folke for arbitrary reasons completely knowingly and sets out to ruin shit for him for #fun. initially there is no jägarlyan present and arvo is just doing his thang on his own but he then joins up with them in the second movie or something. oh and he no longer acts immaturely sometimes, or genuine, now hes just a Cool and Quiet and Calculating Intimidating Villain for epic badass scenes. at the end folke calls the police and arvo gets arrested for poaching and several other felonies and spends the rest of his life in jail (again, i guess). alternatively selma or god forbid folke just kills him.
oh and they also completely delete all queerness from the narrative at all. arvo = untransed. folke = gets into a good christian heterosexual marriage after arvo is arrested or killed, at some point a forced female love interest was introduced to him to tell him to quit being friends with arvo. adrian = somehow 100% cis despite being part of a species with a very loose view of gender. freddie is definitely forced into sexual overtones with the women at jägarlyan.
#ask meme#oc stuff#pareidolia tag#writing the massacrare in 20 was actually terrifying. my god#not art

Five-Run 12th Helps Brewers Beat Twins.
Brewers 8 Twins 4 W-Junis (2-0) L-Okert (4-2)
The Minnesota Twins opened up the second half of the season against the border rival Brewers tonight. Pitching dominated early and the Brewers struck first in the third inning. Garrett Mitchell led-off the third with a double to right and Jackson Chuorio singled him home. Meanwhile, Freddy Peralta ran with it through six scoreless innings of work. Pablo Lopez was brilliant through seven innings. The Twins made things interesting in the eighth when Willi Castro lined a one-out double to left. He reached third on a wild pitch and avoided a tag at the plate to tie the game at one. Neither side scored in the ninth and we needed extra innings. Both teams couldn't scored in the tenth and Joey Ortiz beat a tag at the plate to put Milwaukee on top. Christian Yelich bunted home a run and the Brewers led by two. The Twins were down to their last at-bat when Carlos Santana smacked a Jakob Junis fastball out to right for a two-run homer. This tied the game at three and we headed into the twelfth. Blake Perkins led-off with an infield single and Jake Bauers popped up a bunt that Steven Okert couldn't field. Joey Ortiz hit a sac fly, Jackson Chuorio hit an RBI single and Brice Turang knocked in a pair with a double to right. William Contreras hit a run-scoring single to center and the Brewers lead grew to five. The Twins got a run back in the bottom of the twelfth as Byron Buxton hit an RBI single to center. Brooks Lee flew out to left to end the game and the Brewers took the first game of the series.
-Final Thoughts- Pablo Lopez was great tonight and the team didn't give him any run support. He went seven innings and allowed a run on four hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Jorge Alcala put up a zero in the eighth and Griffin Jax had a 1-2-3 ninth. Jhoan Duran fanned two in a scoreless tenth, Cole Sands gave up two runs in 1/3 of an inning and Steven Okert gave up three runs in 2/3 of an inning. Josh Staumont was charged with two runs on three hits in one inning of work. The Twins scattered seven hits tonight and went 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position. They left eleven men on base. Tomorrow, Aaron Civale faces Joe Ryan in the series finale on Joe Mauer's Hall of Fame induction day.
