The 10's also shocked us by causing many veteran musicians to stop their recording hiatuses as if the world was on fire or something. I mean, if I told you Earth, Wind & Fire continued to release records during the previous decade, you might've done a double take. Sure, you can expect them to tour, but to record? Then again, the 10's did show their influence to be present in the opuses of many of their genre, which is why one can be slightly disappointed that Now, Then & Forever sounds so safe. Mind you, the album is a pleasant listen, yet you wish they would've done something more … in the style of their past? No, you just want to hear them stretching themselves more, yet the absence of some key members on that one might have something to do with that.

FUN/AOTC FACT: "Episode II" employed the first digital cinema camera.

OVERVIEW: "To create a motion-picture without photographic film, Lucasfilm needed a camera equipped with digital sensors that captured and stored imagery on high-definition tape. The resolution of this imagery needed to at least match -- preferably exceed -- the quality of standard 35mm film. The ability to digitally capture, transfer, and edit motion-picture footage would drastically increase the efficiency and flexibility of the filmmaker, something Lucas was eager to do.

Video-based camera systems had been commonplace in broadcast media and other fields for years, but faced skepticism among some feature film cinematographers and directors. Lucasfilm first used Sony’s “digi-beta” cameras to shoot behind-the-scenes material on The Phantom Menace. Select pick-ups from that movie were then captured using one of the company’s digital cameras, and were seamlessly integrated with the rest of the film.

For "Attack of the Clones," Lucasfilm convinced Sony to develop cinema cameras that captured digital footage at 24-frames per second, the same as traditional film cameras. This intrepid effort involved engineers from multiple continents, collaborating with Lucasfilm’s staff, including high-definition supervisor Fred Meyers, post-production and technical supervisor Mike Blanchard, and cinematographer David Tattersall.

The new cinema cameras were first-of-their-kind prototypes. Lucasfilm had barely a year to finalize their design with Sony, which included custom lenses built by Panavision. The four cameras arrived (serial numbers 00001 to 00004) only days before the commencement of shooting. The crew had to relearn their jobs, and the set was buried in miles of cable, but they worked. Even in the sun-baked deserts of Tunisia, they worked."

The New Brainbusters (Brock Anderson and Tessa Blanchard) vs. Koto Hiro and Stephanie Vaquer - Stephanie Vaquer connected with a springboard dive to the outside on Tessa Blanchard, but as Vaquer climbed back on the apron Brock Anderson whipped Koto Hiro into the ropes and Hiro and Vaquer bumped heads which sent Vaquer to the floor. Back in the ring, Brock Anderson got Koto Hiro up for a piledriver and Tessa Blanchard came off the top rope to spike Hiro and help pick up the win. Winners: The New Brainbusters

- After the match Stephanie Vaquer again attacked her partner, planting Koto Hiro with a tombstone in the middle of the ring before walking off in disgust.

JeeVeS K vs. Fred Rosser - JeeVeS K hooked Fred Rosser's arm and lifted him up for a high angle delayed DDT, but Rosser squirmed back to his feet and drove JeeVeS K into the corner. Rosser gained wrist control and twisted JeeVeS to the mat with a hammerlock and cinched in the hammerlock STF. Before JeeVeS K could tap out, Sonny Kiss and Slim J hit the ring and attacked Fred Rosser and the referee called for the bell. Winner: Fred Rosser

- Earlier that afternoon while filming some promotional material for the official CORE Foursquare Swarm page at Panaderia Cuscatleca, Swerve Strickland was approached by Parker Boudreaux and Trench. Boudreaux said he understood Swerve's disappointment, that he and Trench were disappointed in themselves for not stepping up to the opportunity Swerve offered them. Boudreaux told Swerve that he does have loyalty to Ari Daivari and the TrustBusters, but that he also has loyalty to Swerve and just wants tonight to be a fair fight and offered to watch Swerve's back to make sure no one interferes in his match. Swerve told them both that he's not sure if he can trust them, but as long as it's not Parker or Trench attacking him, they're cool. The men shook hands before parting ways.

Parker Boudreaux and Trench vs. Tony Nese and Josh Woods - Josh Woods applied the heel hook to Trench. Trench powered up to his right knee with his left leg still fully extended in Woods' grasp. Tony Nese came off the top rope with a 450 splash onto Trench's leg. Trench cried out in pain and tapped out as Woods reapplied the submission. Winners: Tony Nese and Josh Woods

- Trench was helped out of the venue by Parker Boudreaux and emergency personnel. Trench was transported to the USC Medical Center with Boudreaux by his side.

Lio Rush vs. Michael Oku - Michael Oku tried to turn Lio Rush over into the single leg crab, but Rush got to his feet and connected with an enzuigiri. Oku was staggered and then hit by Lio Rush's bottom rope rebound stunner and Lio got the pinfall. Winner: Lio Rush

Sonny Kiss and Slim J vs. Good Looking Guys (Anthony Greene and Jack Morris) - Jack Morris tried for the tiger driver on Slim J, but Sonny Kiss broke it up with a superkick and Slim J lifted Morris up for the Jig 'n Tonic and hooked the legs for a three count. Winners: Sonny Kiss and Slim J

Match #6

Ari Daivari vs. Swerve Strickland - Ari Daivari hit his hammerlock lariat on Swerve Strickland and went up top for the frog splash, but Swerve got his knees up. Swerve landed the House Call kick to the back of Daivari's head and went up to the top when Sonny Kiss, JeeVeS K, and Slim J made their way to ringside. Swerve jumped off the top rope and took all three men out on the floor with a crossbody. Swerve climbed back up to the top rope for a double stomp on Ari Daivari, but Daivari and got his boot straight up and kicked Swerve in the groin. Daivari made the cover, got the win, and did not have to return the money Swerve paid for the contract of Parker Boudreaux. Winner: Ari Daivari

The first volume of Delcourt’s french “Star Wars: Heir to the Empire” anthology depicts Mara Jade surrounded by stormtroopers, as illustrated by Fred Blanchard. The (loosely) translated text from the behind the scenes feature reads:

A simple and effective visual of Mara Jade, a character well-known to Star Wars fans, allowed this cover to stand out from previous covers produced for the adaptation of Heir to the Empire.

From the first proposal to the final cover, the basic concept changed little. The only notable difference is that the TIE fighters were replaced by Imperial Star Destroyers, which were easier to identify against a starry background.

Mara Jade and the stormtrooper were partially colored, traditionally, then scanned in and completed in Photoshop. Mara Jade acquires a darker outfit, a more intense gaze, and more intense reflection effects on her weapons and belt buckles. The stormtrooper meanwhile, has been lined up and duplicated in the background.
