while im (takes a deep breath to hold back my rage) sympathetic to the fans of Those Wizard Books who're taking a death of the author approach so long as they're not supporting the series financially or actively promoting it and are sticking to fan communities, I really, *really* wish people would put away their merch. Because when I see someone in public with merch from it, I always have to wonder if I'm safe around them as a trans person, if my trans friends are safe. And that's a sucky feeling to have, especially when talking to people who otherwise seems perfectly fine and nice!!! A lot of HP fans are just, people!!! Who maybe don't know what the big deal is, or have chosen to deal with the problem by doubling down to spite the author!! But even when I know for a fact they're totally safe or even trans themselves, I don't want to be constantly reminded of the series whose author is an incredibly rich and powerful person whose whole agenda for the past several years has been to push back against the rights of people like me, and who people like my own god damn mother is more willing to listen to about trans people than her own nonbinary child.
I know it's irrational to feel surges of rage at the mere mention of a popular multimedia franchises, but while I know not every trans person is bothered by it, I also know that a lot of trans people and even allies *are* bothered by it. Just... begging for some understanding, and for people to just PLEASE dial back their fandom-ing in public spaces, especially mostly queer spaces. You don't know how much difference it might make in the comfort and feeling of safety for the trans people around you
#maybe this matters less in the US#or like anywhere else in the world#but in the UK............. please holy shit terfs are a bigger force here than anywhere else#PLEASE stop openly showing support for the multimedia franchise that made the one with the most mainstream influence insanely rich#that she still uses to prop up her arguments about trans people#do you know that she's claimed the fact that people still like her wizard books means that shows people support her beliefs?#do you know that she's compared queer people to the villains of her books?#do you know how much she hates us? how much she hates our transfemme sisters especially?#im just a short afab nonbinary weirdo#i'm not seen as a threat by anyone#i can't imagine how trans women must be dealing with this#vent post#technically#ugh#sorry this has been on my mind for a while and i'm in a weird mood rn#don't come at me for this just block me if you're going to be bothered enough by this#because if you do bother me i'll just block you first lmao#edit: not that not being seen as a threat is necessarily a good thing because in the case of us afab enbies we're mostly just dismissed#there's a lot of us but it also feels like we're so invisible outside our own communities#we're just assumed as queer women most of the time especially those of my generation who haven't had any opportunity to medically transitio#except the lucky few who were able to get a diagnosis relatively early in life#or had the money to turn to private healthcare#trans men who don't pass too#moodle rambles

Exploring Small Business Opportunities: Finding Your Path to Entrepreneurship
In today's rapidly changing economic landscape, small businesses play a vital role in driving innovation, creating jobs, and contributing to local communities. Whether you're looking to leave your 9-to-5 job, pursue a passion project, or simply explore new avenues for income, understanding the world of small business opportunities can be your gateway to entrepreneurship.
Understanding Small Business Opportunities
Small business opportunities are essentially openings in the market where entrepreneurs can offer products or services to meet customer needs. These opportunities can arise from various factors, including changes in consumer behavior, advancements in technology, or shifts in industry trends. The key to success lies in recognizing these opportunities and aligning them with your skills and interests.
Assessing Your Skills and Interests
Before diving into the world of small business, it's essential to evaluate your skills, interests, and resources. Consider the following questions:
What are your strengths? Identify what you excel at—be it creative skills, technical expertise, or managerial capabilities.
What are you passionate about? Starting a business around something you love can significantly increase your chances of success and satisfaction.
What resources do you have? Consider your financial resources, time availability, and support network. Understanding your limitations can help you choose a viable business opportunity.
Top Small Business Opportunities to Consider
E-commerce Store
With the rise of online shopping, starting an e-commerce store can be a lucrative venture. You can sell products in various niches, from handmade crafts to digital downloads. Platforms like Shopify, Etsy, and Amazon make it easy to set up and manage an online store. Consider dropshipping, where you don’t hold inventory but instead partner with suppliers who fulfill orders on your behalf.
Freelancing and Consulting
If you have expertise in a specific field, consider offering freelance services or consulting. This could include writing, graphic design, marketing, IT support, or business consulting. Websites like Upwork, Freelancer, and Fiverr can help you find clients. Building a strong personal brand and portfolio is crucial for attracting clients and establishing trust.
Health and Wellness Coaching
As people become more health-conscious, there's a growing demand for wellness coaching. If you have a background in fitness, nutrition, or mental well-being, consider offering coaching services. You can provide personalized plans, conduct online workshops, or even create digital products like eBooks or courses.
Pet Services
The pet industry is booming, and there are numerous opportunities within it. You can start a dog walking service, pet grooming, pet sitting, or even a pet training business. If you have a passion for animals, this could be a fulfilling and profitable venture.
Digital Marketing Agency
With businesses increasingly relying on online presence, digital marketing has become essential. If you have skills in SEO, social media management, content marketing, or PPC advertising, consider starting a digital marketing agency. Small businesses often seek these services to help them grow their online visibility and attract more customers.
Home Improvement Services
As homeowners invest in their properties, the demand for home improvement services has surged. This includes landscaping, cleaning services, painting, and general contracting. If you have experience in home renovations or repairs, this could be a great opportunity.
Educational Tutoring
If you have expertise in a particular subject, consider offering tutoring services. Whether it's academic subjects, music lessons, or language learning, parents are often willing to invest in their children's education. You can conduct sessions in person or online, allowing for flexibility in scheduling.
Subscription Box Services
Subscription boxes have gained immense popularity in recent years. You can curate boxes around specific themes, such as beauty products, gourmet foods, or books. By providing a unique and personalized experience, you can attract loyal customers who look forward to receiving your boxes regularly.
Social Media Influencer
If you have a knack for content creation and a substantial following on social media platforms, consider monetizing your influence. Brands are eager to collaborate with influencers to reach target audiences. Focus on a niche that resonates with you, and create engaging content that builds your audience.
Conducting Market Research
Once you've identified a potential business opportunity, it's crucial to conduct thorough market research. This involves analysing your target market, understanding customer preferences, and evaluating your competition. Here are some steps to consider:
Identify Your Target Audience: Determine who your ideal customers are. What are their demographics, interests, and pain points?
Analyse Your Competition: Research competitors in your chosen niche. What are their strengths and weaknesses? How can you differentiate your business?
Gather Feedback: Consider conducting surveys or interviews to gather feedback from potential customers. Their insights can guide your business decisions.
Creating a Business Plan
A well-structured business plan is vital for guiding your entrepreneurial journey. It should outline your business goals, target market, marketing strategy, financial projections, and operational plan. A solid business plan can also be crucial if you seek funding from investors or banks.
Securing Funding
Starting a small business often requires initial capital. There are various funding options available, including:
Personal Savings: Using your savings is a straightforward way to fund your business.
Bank Loans: Traditional loans can provide significant funding, but they require a solid business plan and creditworthiness.
Investors: Consider attracting investors who are interested in your business idea in exchange for equity.
Crowdfunding: Platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo allow you to raise funds by pre-selling products or soliciting donations.
Marketing Your Business
Once you’re ready to launch, you need a marketing strategy to attract customers. Consider the following approaches:
Online Presence: Create a professional website and utilize social media platforms to reach your audience.
Content Marketing: Produce valuable content that resonates with your target audience. Blogging, videos, and podcasts can establish your authority in your niche.
Networking: Attend industry events, trade shows, and local business meetups to connect with potential clients and collaborators.
Local Advertising: Utilize local newspapers, radio stations, and community boards to promote your business within your area.
Navigating Challenges
Starting a small business comes with its challenges. Common obstacles include cash flow management, competition, and market fluctuations. To navigate these challenges:
Stay adaptable and open to change.
Maintain a solid financial plan to manage expenses.
Continuously seek feedback from customers and be willing to pivot your offerings based on their needs.
Exploring small business opportunities can lead to a fulfilling and financially rewarding career. By assessing your skills, identifying market needs, conducting thorough research, and creating a solid business plan, you can increase your chances of success. Embrace the challenges of entrepreneurship, and remember that every successful business started with a single step. Your journey begins now—take that step and explore the myriad of opportunities waiting for you.

Exploring Lucrative Self-Employed Opportunities for Success
In today's ever-evolving job market, the idea of being your boss and exploring self-employment opportunities has gained considerable traction. Many seek avenues that offer financial independence, personal growth, and a chance to chart their course. Consider a digital marketing franchise if you're one of them.
In this blog, we'll explore six key pointers that showcase the appeal and potential of self-employed opportunities through a digital marketing franchise without explicitly pushing you in that direction.
1. The desire for self-employment:
The desire to own a business and explore self-employment opportunities is a natural inclination for many. The allure of setting your schedule, making independent decisions, and reaping the rewards of your hard work is undeniable. In a world where traditional employment structures are shifting, top UK franchises are becoming a viable and attractive option for self-employment.
2. The promise of financial independence:
Self-employment offers the promise of financial independence. It allows you to take control of your income and potential for growth. Rather than relying on a fixed salary, you can earn as much as your efforts and skills allow. This financial freedom can lead to a more comfortable and fulfilling life.
3. The flexibility factor:
Be your own boss to have the flexibility to structure your work according to your preferences. You can choose your working hours, tailor your business strategies, and adapt to changing circumstances. This flexibility particularly appeals to those who value work-life balance and personal autonomy.
4. Exploring entrepreneurship:
Self-employment often goes hand in hand with entrepreneurship. Whether you're an experienced entrepreneur or just starting, self-employment through a digital marketing franchise offers a structured path to navigate the world of business ownership. It provides access to a proven business model, training, and ongoing support, making it an ideal choice for seasoned and aspiring entrepreneurs.
5. The digital marketing advantage:
In this internet-oriented era, online marketing cannot be overstated as a critical aspect of every business. Organizations constantly seek ways to enhance their online presence and reach their target audience. This creates a significant demand for digital marketing services. As self-employed opportunities, individuals can explore digital marketing to tap into this demand and offer valuable services to businesses of all sizes.
6. The role of top UK franchises:
Digital marketing franchises in the UK offer a unique and appealing avenue for self-employment. They provide a proven framework for success, including established brand recognition, training programs, marketing support, and a network of like-minded professionals. Choosing one of the top UK franchises, such as a digital marketing franchise, can significantly reduce the risks associated with self-employment and increase your chances of success.
7. Navigating uncertain times:
In an ever-changing economic landscape, self-employment offers a certain level of resilience and adaptability. Whether facing economic downturns or industry shifts, you can be your boss through a digital marketing franchise. It allows you to pivot and adjust your strategies to meet new challenges. This flexibility and resilience can provide security and stability during uncertain times, making self-employment an attractive option for those seeking financial security and peace of mind.
8. The subtle path to self-employment:
While we've explored the advantages of self-employment and hinted at the potential of a digital marketing franchise, it's essential to note that the decision to pursue self-employed opportunities is personal. It requires careful consideration of your goals, skills, and interests. However, the appeal of being your boss, achieving financial independence, and exploring the world of digital marketing through top UK franchises is undeniable.
# Conclusion:
In conclusion, the evolving job market has ignited a growing interest in self-employment and entrepreneurship. The desire for personal autonomy, financial independence, and flexibility is driving individuals to explore avenues that offer these benefits. While this blog has highlighted the appeal of self-employment through a digital marketing franchise like Activ Franchise, it's important to recognize that the decision to become your boss should align with your unique goals and interests.

The Death in Paradise franchise is coming to Australia with an original, home grown spinoff series, Return to Paradise, coming to ABC in 2024. The series is produced by BBC Studios Productions Australia with Red Planet Pictures for the ABC in association with the BBC, who will screen the series on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK. Return to Paradise combines the DNA of the original global smash hit murder mystery series, with a new, unique Australian take.
Set in the idyllic, beachside hamlet of Dolphin Cove, Return to Paradise is six gripping, twisting and fiendishly clever murder mysteries – all set against the spectacular backdrop of the Australian coastal landscape.
Australian ex-pat Mackenzie Clarke is the seemingly golden girl of the London Metropolitan police force – with an intuitive approach to detective work, she has built a reputation for being able to crack the most impossible of cases. However, she’s suddenly forced to up sticks and move back to her childhood home of Dolphin Cove, a beautiful, coastal paradise... and Mackenzie’s worst nightmare.
Having escaped her hometown at the earliest opportunity six years ago, Mack vowed she'd never come back, leaving a lot of unfinished business and unanswered questions. On her return she’s still no fan of the town, and the people of Dolphin Cove are certainly no fans of hers. In fact everyone would prefer her not to be there, including Mackenzie herself.
But when a murder takes place in Dolphin Cove, Mack can’t help but put her inspired detective brilliance to good use and determines, despite her reservations, that she needs to make the best of it, including tying up the loose ends with the man she left at the altar six years ago.
Created and Executive Produced by Peter Mattessi, James Hall and Robert Thorogood, Return to Paradise features a crack Australian writing team led by Mattessi alongside Elizabeth Coleman, Alexandra Collier and Kodie Bedford.
ABC Head of Screen Rachel Okine says; “We are thrilled to be partnering with BBC Studios Productions Australia and Red Planet Pictures to bring a unique Australian sensibility to this beloved franchise. Return to Paradise promises to be whip smart, intriguing and entertaining - audiences of all ages are invited to play along to figure out whodunit, all while feeling as if they’ve been transported to the perfect summer holiday”.
Kylie Washington, General Manager and Creative Director, BBC Studios Productions Australia says; “Like audiences around the world, Aussies love a good crime series, they’re addictive and bring in audiences week after week. Death in Paradise is a bona fide hit so I’m excited to work with ABC and Red Planet Pictures to expand this world even further. Return to Paradise will introduce audiences to entirely new Australian characters, settings and cases for the team to crack, but with an unsettling amount of murders for a small community guaranteed. This is the second local drama from BBC Studios Productions Australia and is an exciting step as we build our premium scripted business in Australia under Warren Clarke, working with an all Australian creative team.”
Alex Jones, Joint-MD of Red Planet Pictures said: “We are so proud of the global success of both Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise – each selling to hundreds of territories, watched by millions, and regularly claiming the position of top rated drama in most of them. Return to Paradise is a brilliantly exciting new addition to ‘The Paraverse’ which we are sure audiences will love just as much. It is a completely original drama but takes the essence of what viewers love about Death in Paradise – the fish out of water premise coupled with the most cleverly plotted murder mystery – and gives it a uniquely Aussie flavour. We are also thrilled to already have BBC One and iPlayer in the UK on board as broadcast partners for the show which means that us Brits will be sure to get to meet Mackenzie and the residents of Dolphin Cove in 2024!”
Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, says: “Everything we all love about Death in Paradise - the humour, the beautiful scenery, the likeable characters, the ingenious plots - now in a fabulous Australian setting. I cannot wait for BBC viewers to be introduced to Detective Mack and the good (and not so good!) folk of Dolphin Cove. What a treat we have in store!"
Return to Paradise will air on ABC and ABC i-view next year and will be shown on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. It will be distributed globally by BBC Studios.
Production Credits: BBC Studios Productions Australia, Red Planet Pictures. Produced for the ABC in association with the BBC. Executive Producers for BBC Studios Productions Australia are Kylie Washington and Warren Clarke, for Red Planet Pictures are Belinda Campbell and Tim Key and for ABC are Rachel Okine and Brett Sleigh.

I've been wanting to watch this forever, and there have been subs since at least the start of the year, but per so many nyaa comments said subs are kind of shit. It was only just a week ago that these two movies came out on Netflix, and have subsequently been nyaa'd by erai. And with that, I've been able to watch the conclusion to the Sailor Moon Crystal saga. Finally.
These movies were pretty good! I can't shake the feeling that I'm so far removed from first watching Sailor Moon and whatnot to where I was… not confused at all - it's all easy to follow and all that - but I guess just not at the level of emotional investment I could've been. But despite that, I had a very good time - the stuff happening at this point in the story is so insanely high concept and far and away the series at its absolute most dramatic and it's really entertaining because of it, the lore starts going absolutely insane and as an extension of everything that's happened so far Usagi as a character feels at her most deeply tragic, which ofc consequently makes her standing up to it all anyway feel all the more powerful. I understand that Sailor Moon's place in popular culture is most prominently represented by the 90s anime but it's kind of insane how kiddy the franchise's reputation is when this late in the game it's as serious as it often is. Visuals I'd also say are confidently the best that Crystal's looked easily. Ami dies first which was sad I barely got to see her lol. But no, good time.
And from there I'm... well I kinda don't know how to feel. I feel something but I don't know how to parse it. Thinking about it, it's been about 4 and a half years since I finished what was at the time the entirety of Sailor Moon. Both 90s and Crystal. And about 3 years since I watched the Eternal movies. To have all that time pass and witness the final part of the story come out, again, it feels weird. It's a good feeling, cathartic, but weird. You know when I heard Sailor Star Song I was tearing up, and the handwritten thank you message from Naoko Takeuchi at the end got me even more so. Fun thing, that.
I would like to use this as an opportunity to spur me back into, if not necessarily reading right away, at least finish collecting the Sailor Moon manga volumes I'm yet to buy. I've been 6 volumes out of 10 into Eternal Edition for years now, like surely I can get that done. And ideally once I do, read the fucking thing - such is generally the point of books. Collecting at least the 90s anime would be fun but I don't think it's licensed in the UK and I'm not really in the mood to spend extra importing shit, you know how it is. But yeah no, good time.
Sailor Moon good. I rated Crystal stuff pretty high by volume, admittedly I'm sort of mixed on it anyway - it exists both as a faithful manga adaptation and a 90s nostalgia trip and at times doesn't commit enough to either front and feels sort of awkward. Even in Cosmos they played Moonlight Densetsu as the OP to the first movie and the ED to the second, like yes I remember Moonlight Densetsu, well done. But you know, still fun. Rough to start and I'd still say with full confidence I prefer the 90s anime, but definitely good. Again whenever I actually have read the manga we'll see what direction I end up leaning. End post.

I’m finally going to get the chance to go see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in cinema and I’m so fucking excited!! Ramble under cut!!
I’ve been so fucking excited to see it since it came out but I haven’t had the opportunity to AGSAHGASH I’m so obsessed with Beetlejuice, like the movie, musical, and cartoon and I also have an oc that I made a while ago but I absolutely adore him. Idk if I’d call myself a mega fan but it’s one of my biggest interests!!
If you actually clicked on the cut then that means you’re here for the ramble so I’m just going to go off. I love the fact that there’s a new movie whether it’s actually good or not because that means there’s merch everywhere! I got a Beetlejuice tshirt and some socks and I actually got a jacket last year for my birthday, I’m going to wear them to the cinema! Also my hair is green, really faded atm but still! It’s my favourite colour to have it and it’s all because of Beetlejuice! ALSO my favourite drink atm is fanta orange and fanta are actually official movie partners so each different flavour has a different character from the new movie on the can and they even made a special new flavour specially for Beetlejuice! It’s Apple and the cans all stripy! I’ve only found the orange with Astrid and fruit twist with Lydia but I’ve kept the first cans I’ve drunk for each character I need to look for the rest! Also just to name some other Beetlejuice merch I have I got the dvd a couple birthdays ago which is technically the first bit of merch I got, I got a notebook with stickers that I’ve been too scared to use, a drink cup, pyjamas, I have a black rose thing that was a Beetlejuice themed chocolate that I’m using Astrid’s can as a holder for (as a little nod to her playing Wednesday since the Addams’ like to cut up black roses a lot, I love those movies too!!), and I even have a mask that’s the face Barbara makes in the first movie when their trying to scare the living, the one where her mouth is wide open and her eyes are in her mouth! Also just not to mention that my username is actually inspired by Beetlejuice!!
Just before I found out I could go I was actually just watching some of the songs from the musical! I was getting real excited and now I really want to redo my designs for my oc Orion and Beetlejuice and Lydia! It’ll be fun because my art has improved a whole lot since I made them! Also I made a minecraft skin for Orion and then found a website where you can make minecraft skins into cutouts so I have this lil guy and I love him! <33
(Damn you cropping)
I’m pretty sure the musical is on tour in Australia rn so I’m hopeful that if it’s left America it’ll hopefully come to the uk at some point! I’d really love to see it in person!!
I think I’m done with my rambling for now!! I haven’t really been able to talk about how much I love this franchise in like ever really!! Maybe I’ll do it more often who knows! It’s my blog who’s gonna stop me!! >:]]
If anyone wants to throw any asks in my inbox about anything to let me ramble more I would not be upset!! >:33

Chamomile Comic Trivia #29
#151 - Awful
I remember this one came to me when good art friend Louistrations was chatting about a leaky ceiling or something similar he was suffering from. I hope it's long no longer an issue or you have a bucket to sleep with if not Louis!
I forget if this is the first time I've done it, but for a condense gag comic like Cammie, having little "The Next Day..." type captions just feels a bit off and breaks up the rhythm of the joke for me, which is why I instead went for a panel showing night and sunrise and outfit changes instead to imply the passing of a day.
#152 - Breakfast
Basically Cammie repeating an exact experience I had on the way to work once in full. Looking up photo reference for shop exteriors and such in the UK is always interesting, I never really notice how often the buildings of businesses have elaborate stuff like window boxes and such because they pretty much always have flats above or the building was never built with the modern business below in mind at all!
Oh yeah... and also this one published in March 2020. I think at this point I was two weeks ahead on producing the comic, and in that two weeks this comic aged terribly, coming out right at the point where panic buying began and the supermarkets became stupidly empty. The panic buying had already started when I drew it, so I felt the need to make sure I drew a fully stocked establishing shot of the supermarket to make it clear that panic buying wasn't the cause of the empty shelves Cammie observed, the pastries in the little supermarket bakery section just weren't out yet! But what took me by surprise is that two weeks later, when the comic published, that phenomena was still VERY much ongoing.
Here's the uncovered panel since I spent a good little while on it despite mostly being covered by speech bubbles! Still very basic once you really look at it, but a definite improvement on visual fidelity since #39!
And... who was that hiding behind a speech bubble this whole time!?
My old character Frogy, after some marmite as usual! It's hard to tell at this level of detail if it's really him... I wonder if Frogy is a franchise within the fiction of Chamomile (baby Cammie was wearing a t-shirt with him on in... hey, #39, the one I linked just above again!) and someone left their toy on the shelf here, or whether this is truly the first case of including an actual character cameo from another work of mine in Chamomile, confirming that it and Frogy take place in the same universe, with dire, dire lore implications! (I mean for a start he's a celebrity if Cammie had a t-shirt of him).
#153 - Office
A little follow-up to Layla's storyline since I was done with it but it never really got a conclusion to return to the status quo. I recall the joke was more or less a straight adaptation of a real life conversation, perhaps between Molly and I, though I forget the specifics at this point, 3 years later. It was also a fun opportunity to explore some in-universe humour, sometimes it's nice to just hang out with the characters making jokes among themselves rather than have them act erratically or larger-than-life in some way for the sake of humour.
#154 - Bush
I remember at this point - or at least two weeks prior when I began work on this comic, I made the firm decision I WASN'T going to have the pandemic happen in the comic. This was the point where it was all anyone could think about, and I would rather the comic remain a thing people could enjoy a laugh from every week detached from the real world. I also didn't want the safety conditions of the pandemic holding back the scenes or character interactions I could make.
In fact, at the same time I made this decision, I specifically started this comic with the idea of making a little oasis of tranquility from the rising stress of the situation, going with cloudgazing and drawing that first panel and trying to come up with a joke from there - this is one I literally just ad-libbed at the time instead of opening my notepad of ideas. It remains a little favourite of mine!
My only regret is that I wanted the space to have that fairly nice big panel at the top but needed somewhere for the first line of dialogue to go. I kept it floating just OUT of the panel to hopefully keep that first panel timeless and encourage readers to linger on it for a moment and percieve the atmosphere, but there's... something I'm not happy with it, I dunno, it doesn't quite work for my eyes, but might be entirely in my head!

Okay but whose getting thesee (even if it's just for Anna, Elsa and Olaf)..?? 🥹
They're so cuteee, I just want em' all 🤏🏼✨
It's such a big year for Disney! It's their 100th birthday in October and Frozen's 10th anniversary for the first movie and the start of the franchise in November (and December for the UK)!
Who thinks we'll get some Frozen 3 deets in October - November? I do! They're such big milestones, it would be a hard missed opportunity if they didn't reveal anything here.

So in unexpected news, James Acaster will be in the next Ghostbusters movie. I’m not holding my breath it’ll be any good, since the past few attempts in the franchise haven’t been the most acclaimed.
But it’s a good opportunity to bring up a fact about my beginnings with British comedy. Around 2017, I was really into Silicon Valley, so I basically followed everyone involved in the show on social media, as well as other comedy people related to them. Emily Gordon (co-writer of “The Big Sick” and Kumail Nanjiani’s wife) shared a screencap of James Acaster’s “Repertoire” with a caption reading, “This reminds me of why I fell in love with comedy.”
I was thinking “that’s a bold claim, I’ll have to check it out if it’s that good.” And it was that good. I vividly remember killing time in my university library trying to hold in laughter while James told stories about being an undercover cop and doing this elaborate dance devoted to his hometown soccer team.
And now six years later I’m obsessing about UK comedy on this site on a daily basis. I did go through a year of a “James Acaster is the only British comedian in existence and everyone else sucks” phase (aka I didn’t really watch any British comedy at all aside from small clips of James on YouTube) until starting Taskmaster in 2020.
So yeah, although my expectations of this Ghostbusters film aren’t very high, at least I can thank Emily Gordon for changing the trajectory of my life for the past couple years.

The answer to this question depends on the latest trends and the most recent developments in the education field. In the present day, multifaceted courses such as the Abacus Maths course have gained traction and enjoy huge popularity among kids as well as their parents. Education franchise business is booming in the UK; Choose a great brand
For investing in an education franchise opportunities are a dime a dozen in the UK. However, what matters is the choice of the brand. It would be prudent to choose a brand that lets you run multiple programmes under its franchise. For instance, British Youth International College, which is currently the best Abacus Maths franchise in the UK, lets all its franchise partners run additional courses like English Program, Coding, and Cyber Security under its franchise. This is one of the reasons BYITC International has risen to become one of the best Abacus Maths franchise brands in the UK. I’m sorry he’s gone. But that is not what this is about.
It’s that phrase … ‘the UK version’
WTF … I never watch the show - not my cup of tea - but I do get pissed off about things like this. Original things do happen outside of the U.S.A..
The X Factor is a UK show. It ran from 2004 to 2018
🔗 It actually has several versions throughout the world. - that are all franchises of Cowell’s original show.
The US show started 7 years after the UK show started .. in 2011, lasting 3 seasons. It - like all the other shows around the globe .. were licensed courtesy of Cowell.
Better phrasing?
first formed in 2010 after each member appeared on the original X factor (reality competition show) in the UK.
The really sad thing about this posts is that I am writing it at all and then finding myself standing up for Cowell’s show which was essentially a latter day [🔗’Opportunity Knocks’](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opportunity_Knocks_(British_TV_series) 🤯

Creating a good online presence: What is the best approach?
How do you establish an online presence?
If you want to establish an online presence, social media is one of the best ways to start, you can make friends who will lift up your work and can join in on trends that will help your discoverability.
What platforms are there that you could use and why might you use them?
There are many social media sites you could use each with their own ways to create content to share, but some that I'd like to mention are; Twitter/X, Tumblr, Facebook, instagram, Tik Tok, youtube and LinkdIn.
Twitter or X is a good example of a more image based social media, of course most social media will allow videos but it’s not usually the main pull like it is with Youtube and Tik Tok. Twitter is a great place to establish an online presence with the many fandoms and communities that form around various tv shows, movies and games. If you have a particular interest in a franchise or at least like drawing content around it, Twitter is a good place to show that off as many people of that fandom would love to lift up content from their favourite media and show it off to others.
Trends are a big thing on sites like Twitter like the many drawing challenges like that in the pokemon fandom, this is when someone comes up with a fun and unique idea to draw a pokemon with new forms or maybe completely redesigning them with a specific vision in mind.
Trends like these create massive explosions of art and discoverability as people hop from post to post looking out for how each person interprets an idea and how they execute it.
Video sharing sites like Youtube, Tik Tok and Instagram specifically their short form video content is also really good for discoverability due to the constant scrolling people do and once one bit of a person’s content is shown the algorithm will often show a lot more of it right after. The video format also allows the viewer to see the creation process rather than just the final product and this type of content tends to draw in other artists and that can lead to new friends in the creative community which is always a good thing.
What is a Good way to get noticed by employers?
Should you want to get noticed by employers, going to industry events is a really great place to start. If you actually take the initiative to go out to an industry event and talk to employers, you'll get your name out there and cement yourself as someone who’s confident and out looking for opportunities. You can find out about opportunities at industry events, you can gauge what employers like and what they want from potential hires and then prepare to act on them and adapt yourself to what employers want.
Having a strong bit of work to show on a portfolio will really show to employers what you’re capable of even if you don’t have a large amount of work, one really solid and polished bit of work will really get you noticed by employers. That being said a large amount of work itself can still be a really good way to get your name out there, the more work you have out there the higher the chance you have to be seen but be sure the work you put out there is still of a higher quality or at least shows how you have and can improve. Employers don't want someone who’s static, if you can show that you can recognise the improvements you need to make and can take them on, they'll certainly like that.
There will usually be industry events hosted at universities and colleges so keeping up with what’s going on in your campus can be really helpful. Many industry events can charge for entry but they are often worth it but if you aren’t able to attend due to the price you should always go to any free ones in your area. Some events here in the UK that you could attend are the UK Creative Festival and The Big Creative UK Summit, if in the area you mays as well give events a look.
What work should you include and what should you exclude?
You should try to show off mainly just your finished work, make sure your portfolio is kept up to date with your newest and best work, you want to make sure that first and foremost it’s what you can do now that they see. You should show off who you are now rather than who you used to be as employers should have their expectations based on what you can do now.
Don’t include unfinished work as many employers will limit the work they look at from potential hires so you don’t want the only impression they get of you to be a piece of unfinished work as that’ll make you seem not very dedicated to a project or focused either. You should also try to exclude any work that’s not really relevant to the job for example: if you’re an artist who does storyboarding and designs textures for 3d models applying for a job at a storyboarding position, they’re hardly gonna need to see your texture work and would much rather see the storyboard work you have.
