so i’m saying that with denerim falling to the darkspawn, highever, gwaren, and even soldier’s peak and amaranthine are among the central strongholds. i know they say its redcliffe but like.. bffr, it should be the teyrnirs. elethea had spent the last 20 years building fortifications and defenses against the darkspawn specifically. and soldier’s peak and amaranthine are grey warden hubs in ferelden, if the freeholders are flocking ANYWHERE during another blight, its there.

Walled City Sunset II
flickr
Walled City Sunset II by Henrik Sundholm Via Flickr: I was able to capture the sunset over Dubrovnik, Croatia, seconds before the rain started pouring down. I'm glad I did! This is arguably the best view over the old city.

💭 Since we're here, thoughts from Nillan on the whole party too, and on the vampire gang
Send 💭 for a thought my muse has had about yours

"And they did this all themselves, just the five of them..." She walked with a gentle slowness, watching the blood splattered across stone, kneeling to inspect the ruined corpses, and frowning at the horrible experiments that were stopped. The Meat Forge was now devoid of life, inhabited only by the legion of vengeful wraiths that were unleashed upon it. "Good riddance. Quite very impressive though. I would have needed a small army for this, maybe 10 handpicked and involve the troll too. In fact, that might not even had been enough, depending... hmm..."
She took a little chain of praying bones hanging on her waist and looked for an important-looking corpse. "Let's see how they did it, and where the rest you rotten filth are."

(CONTEXT: The "vampire gang" is a young vampire girl and 4 (now only 3) vampire kids that my players befriended and brought into the current city, then the players left for a few months, during which Nillan found them and helped them in the background.)
"They seem free, but Avi won't speak the name of who turned her, and that silence doesn't seem entirely voluntary. It makes no sense to keep her bound unless her master plans to later come back for something... curious..."

Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: Production Magic Turns a Nameless Village into the Strongest Fortified City
3/10
Absolute nonsense. I trudged through 10 chapters and by chapter 11 I gave up. Either the story was jumpy and poorly written or the translation I read was bad. Either way a disappointment.

one of the things i love the most about dsmp is the fact that no one has the same version of it. the most obvious example is which streamer's POV you watched, but it goes way beyond that because mcrp requires a level of suspension of disbelief and also of filling in the gaps, fleshening things out, in order to make it usable for fancontent.
for example, the fact that apart from the minecraft skin there is no actual guideline for how to see the characters, hence the dsmp creaturification of fan designs we've been over a million times. but it's not just that!!
the fandom also has so many different relations to time in the dsmp. some take the canon timeline but then you run into problems like c!fundy's age — so then either he's actually a 20 year old that c!wilbur adopted and treats like a baby, or perhaps fox hybrids have a very abrupt exponential growth spurt, or perhaps l'manberg wasn't a few months but a few years!
and then this brings into question the matter of scale — how populated is the server? is it truly only the actual streamers/characters, and so when we talk about a "war" do we really just mean like 10 people fighting each other with swords? or perhaps there's a couple dozen, unnamed, background characters? and i've seen people increase the scale even more! make l'manberg a real, albeit obviously small and budding, country-city of a few hundred inhabitants, that perhaps grows into a lifesize scale fortified city during new l'manberg.
and then everything takes on such a different tone. if theres 30 people on the server, the final control room was a betrayal and destruction of friendships, november 16th was the grief and anger for a friend and the symbolic destruction of the country, and doomsday was another symbolic show of whose alliances everyone values, and the weariness of having to rebuild it. if there's a few thousand people? all of those were massacres.
how can we even be talking about the same characters when for some of us the worst they've done is blow up some houses with no cost of lives, and for others they have razed to the ground actual nations? depending on how you read it and how much you flesh it out, dsmp is either mainly about symbols and interpersonal relationships, or it can be some game of thrones shit. it's completely fucking mental. i'm so in love with it

the claim that current police brutality in the US represents colonial policing ‘coming home’ completely ignores the reality that US policing is already colonial policing, and always has been. US cops and IOF don’t have a one-way relationship in either direction — they SHARE training and technology in a MUTUAL exchange. if we're seeing an escalation in police violence against protesters specifically (and honestly I don't think we are — they murdered Tortuguita and plausibly assassinated as many as 6 Ferguson organizers; there are no red lines for cops when it comes to suppressing Black and Native uprisings), it's because they regrouped and fortified after the 2020 protests. cop cities are popping up all over the country, not because cops are becoming more violent but because they're afraid of losing the upper hand over the populations they exist to do violence towards
