"But if we dont get reblogs and likes than why bother creating at all" Did you never doodle in your notebook in class. Did you never have a notebook of cringe doodles you never wanted people to see but got filled anyway. Was this never something you did because it was a tool of personal comfort.

omg reverse riko au is making me feel so ill..... please let us know if you have any more thoughts abt riko kayleigh and kevin legend.....
I DO my idea is that its around the same age kevin and riko met in canon so tetsuji kicks the bucket when riko is 7/8 and riko is (very forcibly) removed from the nest and sidelined to kayleigh as a new moriyama asset from the main branch takes over the nest. riko struggles a lot with the change because he is very young and very scared and he’s used to horrible things at tetsuji’s hand, which means that he doesn’t trust kayleigh and finds kevin entirely too weird. it’s honestly really cute because i think at this point obviously 7 year old kevin wants to befriend him but riko is such an anxious ball of anger that most of their interactions are like
baby riko: what do you WANT from me. go AWAY!!!! NOW
baby kevin: (heavy irish accent) nothing i think. do you want a bite of my sandwich?
anyway i think riko and kayleigh do get along but he never really considers her his mother or even godmother, for a long time he thinks of her as his Benefactor until the child therapy starts hitting and she becomes Aunt Kayleigh and then after a few more years he can be loosely convinced to refer to her as auntie once or twice a year. his second son syndrome never really leaves him; in the upcoming years riko struggles with the idea that he’s anything But an add-on to the days and still overworks himself to death trying to be acknowledged by kengo, but it’s leaps better just from being outside the nest and having people to look out for him
riko and kevin have some rough patches, especially during riko’s first years with the days. because kevin is an easy target and riko is afraid of kayleigh he ends up letting a lot of that anger out on kevin, though obviously at this point they are children and riko’s anger manifests in some mild bullying and name calling. i think kevin doesn’t even understand it most of the time 😭 riko has been around grown ups his entire life so his adult level insults make no sense to kevin’s seven year old mind. nevertheless after kayleigh tells him to stop picking on kevin riko does respect it (first out of fear, then later because they actually get along) and they go on to become brothers with only a slight tendency towards antagonism. riko’s jealousy of kevin is still a big part of their relationship and i think even more so when college applications roll around, and he’s even more worried when wymack comes into the picture, but it never culminates into anything as horrible as hand breaking because riko has an actual outlet and a support system :) it’s mostly a yelling match that eventually turns to getting scolded by kayleigh for acting like barbarians
#i know kayleighs sermons go hard kevin and riko are sitting there head bowed like yes maam…..#i havent yet decided where they both go to college in this au#but i think for one that the nest still exists and jean still gets sold to the moriyamas but it’s the main branch now#however without riko there jean’s experience in the nest is. Hard but not brutal#anyway i think riko would apply to edgar allen but he would be rejected on the account of being second branch raised by foreigners#but how horrifying to think about jean in the nest bossing riko around right. kind of a slay though#i think kevin goes to palmetto still Because he wants to reconnect with wymack and riko is very divided but ultimately chooses usc#because they’re the best and he doesn’t want to play second fiddle to kevin and his father#also i imagine his time in usc sucks a lot for the first months because it’s so different LOL#and he’s never been alone before like this with kayleigh and kevin so far out of reach#but :) hed make friends. maybe even… captain jeremy knox….. whos to say?#!#meanwhile kevin (a normal boy at this point) has to deal with the foxes being a trainwreck and the new serial killer dad recruit#he’s got a lot on his hands#ANYWAY this is entirely unrelated and indulgent but i want this kevjean to meet so bad#riko on the phone: we played against the ravens that jean moreau is a scoundrel and a monster and he almost broke my arm kevin: woaw#he’s gonna be so pissed off three years down the line when jean moreau shows up at christmas dinner with the days#you think theres any worse dynamic for jean and riko than master and slave? of course. Brothers in law#wouldnt you just kill to be a little fly buzzing around that christmas supper#asks#riko#kevin&riko

i'm back by popular demand!!
Hey guys!! Guess who's back?!?!
I'm now trying to get back in the game, so I hope I can post more about my journey with languages and writing.
This year I'm focusing on improving my (british) english. I want to reach C1, almost C2 by the end of the year (I need all the luck, motivation and time I can get). I'm a solid B2 (at least it's my score in every test I take). I have the usual problems: lack of grammar (prepositions??? Is that something to eat?) I would die if my life depends on using in/at/on correctly. And I need more vocab, nothing fancy, but I need to improve it. My goal is to write 50k in september (I'm not gonna name the challenge, but if you know, you know). If you're going to do a similar challenge, just DM me!!
Next year I'm going to prioritize my (chilean) spanish. yeah, you read that right. I'm gonna try to learn chilean english on my own. Wish me luck!! I know some spanish, but chilean spanish?? That's a whole different level of spanish. And if you are chilean and want to chat next year with someone borderline funny and chaotic, just let me know! And I'm trying to decide on learning italian, german or norwegian next year. I know a thing or two in those languages, but I really want to focus on one of them next year. Any suggestion or study buddies are appreciated.
On top of that, I'm writing my master's dissertation and have to finish it by March AND write my PhD project until November, so I can apply by the beginning of December.
I don't know how alive is the langblr and studyblr community (I left for an insane amount of time), but if you are learning a language or studying for something and need some accountability, just hit me up! I can help with portuguese too!

AN OPEN LETTER to THE PRESIDENT & U.S. CONGRESS
Enforce Leahy! No funding to IDF troops who’ve committed human rights abuses!
354 so far! Help us get to 500 signers!
I’ve just learned from Pro Publica that “a special State Department panel recommended months ago that Secretary of State Blinken disqualify multiple Israeli military and police units from receiving U.S. aid after reviewing allegations that they committed serious human rights abuses.” But Blinken has failed to act on the proposal. This in the face of growing international criticism of the Israeli military’s conduct in Gaza.
I’m livid about this. We cannot keep sending unconditional military aid to anyone, regardless of whom, if they are committing human rights abuses. We have Leahy laws to prevent it, and they are not being enforced here. It’s unacceptable.
The U.S. government needs to stop giving the Israeli government a blank check. Israel has a right to defend itself, of course, but the abuses described in Pro Publica’s report can’t be defined as self defense under anyone’s definition of the term. They’re abhorrent and our tax dollars mustn’t be spent on them. Thanks.

Apart from the US, all other members of the G7 nations signed and sent a letter to Israeli FM Israel Katz, calling on Netanyahu’s government to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza by opening all border crossings for aid supplies, including the Rafah crossing with Egypt.
The letter was signed by the foreign ministers of the G7 states: Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Japan and Canada, as well as their counterparts from Australia, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Korea and Sweden.

How Beijing targets Chinese Canadians through foreign influence operations, March 3, 2023
Alliance Canada Hong Kong executive director Cherie Wong joined Power & Politics Friday to discuss how Beijing targets Chinese Canadians. Akshay Singh and Dennis Molinaro, two experts in foreign influence operations in Canada, also weigh in on the scale and goals of foreign interference activities in Canada.
CBC News
@allthecanadianpolitics
There is an important distinction being made here that the foreign interference from China seeks to be pervasive by co-opting individuals, institutions, and community groups. The interest and influence is party agnostic and sees us in the Chinese diaspora as an entry point: whether in support of certain electoral and policy outcomes, controlling what information gets propagated into the communities, appropriating issues like discrimination and increasing distrust in our own systems and institutions, or directly and indirectly targeting people of interest.
***
It has been strongly implied in the recent reporting about Chinese interference in Canada that it has been a failing (if not to the benefit) of the Liberal government and Trudeau, rather than systematic attempts to influence Canadian politics and economics for decades coupled with our country’s complete underestimation of China and the United Front.
In my own experience the Chinese-Canadian media and political consumption has undergone an extreme shift into partisanship with clear pro-China and anti-China camps rather than aligning into our political parties.
The faltering of Hong Kong-based press, media, political freedom, and  ties with Taiwan and the greater diaspora community has seriously depleted any sort of moderate and critical voices in English or Chinese coming directly from the region, with writers and journalists re-immigrating or retreating from public view.
Cold War rhetoric and posturing over Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang, Hong Kong, as well as exposed espionage and foreign interference operations is opening new fault lines within and directed at diaspora while deepening the isolation of the domestic Chinese population.
The pop cultural center has moved with the economic affluence into the Mainland, catered to and directly influenced by a network of state-run broadcasters and private corporations ultimately answerable to the Chinese government. It can be difficult to engage with any of it as entertainment let alone to keep up with news without expending a lot of energy consuming it critically.
Tangentially but also related, many of Hong Kong’s pro-democratic political figures (the Hong Kong 47) that interacted with the outside and independent press or engaged other countries in the aftermath of the 2019-2020 protests and subsequent political organizing have been effectively silenced, charged, and/or jailed. They are only now being formally sentenced under the highly controversial Hong Kong national security law.
The political reverberations led to a postponed and then uncontested election for their legislative and executive body without any substantive opposition, the closure of multiple news organizations, civic rights groups and unions, the local polling institute, and the effective silencing of editorial independence at their public broadcaster.
Self-censorship and the chilling affect is extremely strong by those regions directly affected as well as the diaspora communities, out of fear or apathetic hopelessness it is eroding our ability to speak, associate, or engage with these issues freely no matter where we are.

I've noticed this weird false dichotomy amongst Biden supporters where you can either support lgbt people in America or Palestinians. They choose lgbt people in America over the Palestinians. This is the false dichotomy they fell for. My take on this issue is you can care about both and here's why. I dislike Biden's handling of the Israel-Gaza war because he mollycoddles Netanyahu to give him everything he wants. The way Netanyahu is waging this war might lead to a greater war in the middle east not just in Lebanon to fight Hezbollah but including Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Iran and many others. I fear if this war escalates Iran will become more involved. Despite the fact the Iranians have a new reformer president who wants to make peace with the West I fear he might not be able to stop a bigger war. I worry about this since we are backing the Ukrainians fighting Russia and gearing up for a war with China. This will overstretch our abilities to fight in wars. At best Biden has sanctioned illegal Israeli settlers but that's about it. He has not changed the systemic nature of the war and his current policies with Netanyahu might escalate it. I do not want America getting dragged into another war in the Middle East.
We keep mucking around in places we shouldn't be. This will get service members killed (which include lgbt people by the way) and more people in the Middle East killed. In fact, service members have been killed already like in that Tower 22 base in Jordan near the Syrian border. Where they were killed by drones form Iraqi militia groups. That could be a glimpse of things to come. Which is tragic since it's a region that has suffered over 20 years of conflict and is still suffering from it to this day. We have been at war there the majority of my life. Whether in full military might like the invasion of Iraq or special forces doing black ops like in Syria. Call me chickenshit, call me what you will but I am just sick of the wars in the Middle East which our government constantly gets us involved in. Basically, you can care about both lgbt people, and the Palestinians since Biden seems to just sleepwalk us into more wars.
