Benson Ford Sr. is the least well known of Henry Ford’s three grandsons. His older brother Henry II (1917-1987) was Ford Motor Company’s emperor, serving as president or chairman from 1945 to 1980, while his younger brother William Clay Ford, Sr. (1925-2014) was the chairman of Ford’s design committee and the father of current Ford executive chairman Bill Ford, Jr. Middle brother Benson (1919-1978) served a number of lesser roles in the company and passed away, sadly, at only 59. At the time of this filming he was a Ford vice-president and general manager of the Lincoln-Mercury division.

3. What was their most expensive purchase/where does their disposable income go?

the blood money merc spends his cash on munitions and materials for his blood money work. i imagine he's actually kinda frugal with money otherwise--he doesn’t desire any of the typical luxuries that might come to mind when you think of exorbitant spending. definitely steals a lot more than he spends, mainly just for the fun of it, so he’s always got an overabundance of cash lying around. spends what he needs on materials and chemicals for explosives, usually bought from other mercs he comes across, then whatever is left becomes inert and piles up after every new job he pulls.

besides that recently i've been toying with the idea of him ending up buying razlo and the family a house with all the money he's accumulated over the years when he finally comes back, because he doesn't know how to appropriately apologise to razlo for everything that happened between them. which i think is pretty funny. like. 8. Describe the place where they sleep.

when he's out by himself i've been imagining that he gets around in a big bulky pick up truck, something that looks like an old 1970s ford f-series y'know. he'd shove a sleeping bag in the back of that and be content to sleep there under the moon. maybe move into the cab if the wind picks up. i do not think he'd bother at all with staying in inns or motels or any of the sort while he's on the move.

when he comes back and settles i've been imagining that he finds an old shack somewhere on the outskirts of town and claims it as his own. he finds himself a lumpy, dirty old twin mattress in the rubble of a house (that probably wasn’t so dirty when he found it) and just dumps it on the floor of his shack with the addition of a sheet or two, likely tattered and stained with all kinds of things, and he'd have a kind of canopy strung up over it anchored with rope to act as a shield from creeping daylight. but not a single bed frame in sight. possibly also has a dusty box fan near his head that’s on every time he lays down cus he can’t sleep otherwise, he needs the noise. most of the time the surrounding floor space is littered with old clothes and scraps of trash and chemical materials he hasn’t bothered to clean up yet and likely never will, kinda just kicked outta the way if they become too much of a problem. he'd probably tidy up if he knows razlo and the kids are visiting though.

but i think when he was back at the eye he ended up with his own dorm room, when trainees usually are divided into groups and assigned their own bunks. could have been on behalf of razlo this occurred, or sidney simply could have kicked all of his room mates out and took the space all for his own. the latter's probably more likely considering only the eye's most prized get assigned their own living quarters, and sidney definitely isn't a qualifier for that. either way sidney's requisitioned it into a workspace with a makeshift tool bench for all his various explosives.

when bowie was first with the family she spent a lot of time with minnie and jasmine doing arts and crafts, as well as other things like baking and helping vash cook meals. it was a good way to help her further develop her fine motor skills, of which were stunted because of knives brute forcing her growth, so many milestones of what would have been her natural development--even for a plant--were simply skipped over. one of those activities was also jewellery making! she would make bracelets and necklaces with minnie and jasmine and the three of them would give each other ideas and trade between themselves. bowie kept a lot of the jewellery she made, and wears her favourite ones. this is sort of a more recent development within the AU so i don't have any art of her wearing her jewellery but i think that's what she'd carry with her all the time.

But really it's going to be nice a lot of people can afford this and you can buy it on payments with their payment plan and you don't have to leave a bank account you can get it by mail and you can also pay credit card or other really the payments without like $120 a month and it's only for I think 2 years or something no it's more than that but still 4 years something like that but it's not a bad idea and these things are being popped out like crazy and the tires are such that can go off for a little bit

We went down there and the lot is full of people tons of people are buying these at his place trucks are coming in with them and some mad house and we have to buy some we get along with him a little but we don't get along with Trump at all and no one does now. Villain groaned, clutching at his temple as dizziness and nausea coursed through him. He dug his heels into the ground, crying out very slightly. He was sure that someone was watching him; he could feel their peering eyes glaring into his back, but he drew his mind away from that. His body felt like one big fireball and he was sweating profoundly.

It was escaping. His powers were escaping and ready to unleash its fury. He gasped for breath and pleaded with himself to soothe the powerful surge, but nothing alleviated it.

A figure was creeping along his line a vision, obscuring his left side and leaving his right open to view the destruction and death. He groaned, collapsing forward and pressing his nose into the ground.

"Villain?" A voice, definitely, and spoken to him, but Villain couldn't bring himself to exactly register the meaning or speaker of the word. He held out a quivering hand as if asking for someone to wait- or in this villain's case, to be quiet.

"Is he hurt?"

"Are you alright?"

"Oh gosh, I think he's gonna pass out."

The voices floated around Villain's world languidly, none having any known meaning or intent of purpose. They were just there.

Suddenly, as if his last straw of instinctual push persuaded him to deal with the dilemma, Villain jumped up. He ignored the lightheaded feeling and ran to the medical tent.

Trucks held down the extra long canopy, giving the doctors plenty of shade as they stabilized the wounded. Villain could hear the rumble of nearby helicopters, whether or not they meant anything to his swimming head, and the strident shrill of ambulances.

He rushed to one of the silver fords and opened the tailgate. Rummaging blindly through endless different bottles and applies, he found what his primitive logic was searching for.

His found treasure was a heavy, heavy sedative. He also grabbed a syringe, inserted a needle and prepared the drug.

He acted without any conscious will. He got like that when his powers threatened to overpower him. But luckily, his subconscious was still intact.

He filled the syringe up. It might've been an overdose, but that was besides the point. He needed to sleep, to be unconscious, so that he could dampen his powers.

He again could hear those floating words, fixating on Villain's ears. This time around, however, as miniscule as it was, they held meaning.

"He's gonna drug himself."

"Someone stop him!"

Villain could hear the trampede of footsteps, but the deed was already done. The needle was in his thigh and the fire was extinguishing. The world slowed down as Villain collapsed face first on the ground. Blackness crept towards him in obnoxious slow motion. He breathed deeply allowing sleep to encase him in its safe blanket.

Hero ran towards Villain and quickly searched for a pulse. It was too faint, way too weak and slow for her liking. Gosh, did he take such a heavy dose...

"Why did he do that?" Someone asked, astounded.

"I-i think, now don't quote me on this," Hero replied. "I think he almost lost control of his powers. When he wakes up, well ask." Hero didn't want to think of the "when" as being a lie, but she also didn’t want to think that Villain would never wake. That was a possibility right?

What if he never woke up from this induced sleep?

“Ohh this one is pretty! What do you think Ivy?,” you ask lying the lilac onesie against your swollen abdomen. With only a month left until your due date, you finally decided to try to organize your closet to accommodate her growing collection of clothes.

Although tiny, the amount of outfits and other supplies bought by you, your fiancé, and both sets of your family and friends warranted her own room really, but being stuck with your quaint one bedroom apartment the small plastic dresser in your closet would have to do.

“I’ll tell you this baby girl, you are definitely spoiled already.”

“And your grandparents wouldn’t have it any other way,” you hear from behind paired with the light thud of work boots hitting the floor. “Can’t blame them entirely though, me and your mom might have had something to do with that too.”

“You’re home early.”

“Yea the floors didn’t take as long as we thought they would.”

Kissing your cheek, he notices the box of diapers you were currently trying to move with your foot but not getting far. Bending down reaching for the cutout handle, he moves your hands beating you to the box before placing it with the others. “Here babe let me get that. Remember the doctor said-,”

“I know what he said Chris. I’m the one who told you what he said since you weren’t there remember?”

You didn’t mean for it to come out as bitter as it did, but you also couldn’t hide your frustration anymore. He was always a perfectionist when it came to his work. From the paint to the furniture placement, and even the plants outside, he never wanted a client to walk in seeing anything out of place or thinking he didn’t care about what he did.

You understood and loved how much he cared, but with your heightened emotions and the fact that this was a pretty important time in both of your lives, him not being there broke your heart a little more each time it happened.

“Y/N, I know I haven’t been around like I want to and I’m sorry, but it’s just I really want this house to be perfect.”

“I know you do, but I’d also like for you to actually see her moving on the screen rather than me tell you what happened. Or hear her heartbeat in person.”

Grabbing your sides, he gently pulls you closer bringing his calloused yet soft hands up to cradle your face and graze his thumbs against your cheek while peering into your eyes.

“I promise you things will be different as soon as everything’s done. Then I’ll be at every appointment and by your side so much you’ll be sick of me,” he smiles.

“You really shouldn’t make promises you can’t keep.” Sliding out of his grip, you make your way to the kitchen, hands rubbing the base of your belly as he follows close behind.

“It’s not my fault this all had to happen while you’re pregnant.”

“I know.”

“Really? Could’ve fooled me,” he sighs, back leaning against the counter watching you remove different items from the fridge trying to put something together for dinner.

There’s silence as you chop bell peppers to sauté in the pan slowly heating up on the stove. You could feel his eyes still on you though as you moved about getting different seasonings and other tools to help make your meal, but you refused to say a word.

“Guess I’ll go shower then,” he states under his breath ready to leave so you could have the space you clearly needed.

“What’s so different about this house?”

“What do you mean?”

“Every other build you’ve done you’re telling me any and every detail about it and even a little about who it’s for,” you explain still focused on the sizzling pan in front of you. “This one, you haven’t said one thing about it other than you finished the floors today. Then you’re rushing out the room to take secret calls and working later than usual, which makes me believe this house must be something special.”

“I haven’t really had the time to tell you since I’ve been so busy.”

“...sure you’re not just trying to bury yourself in your work?” Hearing your sniffles, he walks up behind you turning you around to see your glossy eyes as tears begin to fall. “I mean I know I’m a bit more emotional and probably more annoying-,”

“Shh, stop,” he softly speaks wiping away your tears and hugging you close to his body. “You’re not annoying and I’m definitely not burying myself in my work. If I could, I’d spend every second with you doing anything you want.”

“You say that now, but I’m sure you’d think different after.”

“Nope. Never.”

Bringing your hand up to his lips, he kisses the diamond on your finger before moving to your lips making them move together as if they were part of a passionate dance.

“You’re gonna make me burn dinner. Again,” you smile resting your forehead against his.

“Sorry,” he chuckles leaving one last peck on your lips. Letting you turn back around, his chin sits on your shoulder and hand lightly rubs up and down your belly as he helps with the remainder of the meal.

The following week, Chris finally finished the house and couldn’t wait to give you a tour through the bare home. He was practically glowing with excitement each day leading up to the weekend, when you both agreed he could show you.

Driving through busy streets and backroads shaded by canopy trees, you eventually arrive in the driveway of a grey house trimmed in white with pillars of the same color. On the wrap around porch sat two dark brown rocking chairs seemingly waiting for someone to rest in them, while bunches of orange and yellow chrysanthemums were planted in the flower beds just below it. Carefully stepping out of the black Ford truck, with his help, a small smile forms on your lips as you look from the building to your future husband.

“What?,” he shyly asks nervously fidgeting with his hands.

“Nothing, just amazed again by what you do. And also wondering what made you chose to plant my favorite flower?”

“Guess you were stuck on my mind,” he winks kissing your lips before grabbing your hand and leading you up the steps to the door.

Your footsteps against the dark hardwood and Chris’ voice echo throughout the empty house as he takes you to every room, noting how the furniture would be placed once it arrived and asking your opinion on how it would look. Walking down the hall, he points out the master and guest bedrooms pausing in front of the last door with his hand on the knob.

“I’ll tell you now, I did this room all by myself so go easy on me okay?,” he states making you giggle.

“Don’t worry, I’m sure it’s just as beautiful as the rest of the house.” Slowly opening the door, you notice it to be the only furnished room in the house with a grey crib, dresser, changing station, and cloth rocking chair all matching in color.

“Aww babe! Why didn’t you tell me they were expecting a baby too?”

Black butterfly stencils staggered along the pink wall above the crib, seeing the teddy bears placed on top of the changing table instantly draw your hands to your stomach as you become even more excited for your own bundle to come into the world.

“I uh also got them an extra little present from us,” he states opening the top drawer to reveal a folded baby blanket covered in clouds. “Think it’s okay?”

“Yea it’s-,” you start as you notice the shine of golden letters embroidered in the corner. Stepping closer to him, Chris can feel his heart pounding in his ears as he watches you read what’s been sewn on the blanket and look at him confused.

“Why does it have Ivy’s on it?”

“Because it’s hers, along with everything else in here.”

Words seemed to be something foreign to your brain as you continued to stare at the man in front of you wondering if he was being serious.

“Wha-? How-?”

“Grandma Peggy left this land to me in her will and I always planned to build a house on it but never got around to it. When little Ivy came in the picture though, I thought now was the perfect time.”

As you scan the room holding onto the blanket, he starts to feel a bit scared from your silence.

“W-We can always change stuff around though if you don’t like it,” he stammers rubbing the back of his neck. “Like maybe the crib can-,”

Unable to complete his words, he feels your arms wrap around his neck as your lips press against his moving in perfect sync.

“It’s perfect!”

“Really? You think so? It’s okay if you want to change anything I swear.”

“No I promise I love it how it is,” you giggle kissing him again. “I love everything, thank you.”

“You don’t have to thank me love. I’m gonna do anything I can for the both of you to make sure you’re taken care of, and nothing will stop that.”

“I know, which makes me feel worse about thinking you were purposely trying to stay away,” you sniffle looking down at the blanket in your hands.

“Well, it didn’t help that I wasn’t being as open as usual.”

“But still I shouldn’t have even let my mind go in that direction and I’m sorry.” Wiping your tears away, he lies your head on his chest rubbing soothing circles on your back.

“That’s in the past okay? Now we focus on what comes our way next,” he smiles to which you nod your head wrapping your arms around his waist and enjoying breathing in his scent as you both stand in the peaceful quiet.

“So you really love everything? Be honest.”

“So much that if I wasn’t pregnant, I probably would be in the morning,” you bite your lip looking up to see his raised brow and amused expression.

“Looks like you might be getting another sibling soon Ivy,” he whispers down towards your stomach making you laugh.

Syed felt like the situation was getting out of control, an idea that she hated. The morning came and went with no sign of the Millennium Falcon. She worried that the car escaped at dawn, before the barricades were put up.

She searched the town with Saul, who decided to join her after their call that morning.

According to Saul, Kylo took off the other night without answering his phone. He never came back to the hotel and his pickup was found vandalized in the parking lot of the venue. He was relieved to find that Syed was still there, with Skylar in tow. Saul wanted to know if Kylo was safe—given the nature of the mission, he’d suspected that Earth Soldiers had somehow managed to abduct their leader.

Syed acted surprised, saying that she and Skylar had no idea because they decided to spend the night together at a local motel, just like old times. Saul better come and help them look for Kylo.

Saul showed up immediately. The three of them set off, Saul and Skylar piling into the SUV while Syed took Saul’s grey Ford for a change.

Luckily for Syed, Saul asked few questions and believed everything they told him. He also hadn’t talked to Kylo himself recently. The last update he remembered was that Rey was an Earth Soldiers activist that Syed had been assigned to track.

These days it was more accurate to say that Rey was nothing but a blundering tourist and Kylo was the fraud that Snoke wanted Syed and Skylar to hunt down.

But maybe Kylo had gotten to the others first? He was certainly spending a lot of time with the girl these days but he could have still called them...

Stricken with doubt, Syed turned to look at Saul, who was sitting in the passenger seat. Perhaps not unlike his biblical namesake, Saul had strong brows and a slightly aquiline nose, with a matte olive complexion and sharp eyes. She would have found him attractive under different circumstances.

But right now she had to be cautious.

He didn’t look nervous to be there, if he was anxious it was probably his eagerness to find Kylo Ren. Saul had left him countless unanswered voice messages, finally taking to the streets when all else failed. Did he really think he would just randomly run into Kylo at a Starbucks, sipping on a double shot cold brew like always?

Syed was sure Kylo out there in the Millennium Falcon, and that they were already losing time...but she didn’t have the energy to fight anyone this morning. She knew she would have to come up with one hell of an excuse to get Saul to mangle Kylo instead.

“Why don’t you make yourself useful?” She hummed dryly, “Call up all the campsites around Bozeman and ask them if they’ve had any guests driving a maroon Oldsmobile Cruiser.”

Saul complied wordlessly, googling a series of numbers to call. At least he wasn’t dead weight anymore.

Running out of ideas, she drove back into town, half-hoping she would get a lucky call from the police. Circling back to the parking lot, she somehow ran into Shakti, who was busy having Kylo’s pickup hauled away with a tow truck.  

“Hux’s orders,” Shakti explained.

"Where’s Kylo?” Syed asked, trying her best to sound natural.

“No clue, it’s not like I’m his babysitter. Maybe he’s still hunting that Earth Soldiers agent from a few days ago.”

They smiled sweetly at one another, neither woman falling for the lies of the other, neither one able to determine how much Saul really knew. Once again Syed found herself forced to keep up pretenses, lest she be outnumbered and unprepared.

As she drove off, she realized that Shakti’s SUV was nowhere in sight. Did Kylo take it? If so, he could be anywhere by now, they would have to expand their search.

It was high time to call Skylar, but Syed’s attempts went straight to voicemail. Strange. He knew he was supposed to stay close at a time like this, so what the hell was the idiot playing at?  

“I got a hit,” Skylar announced triumphantly. “Canyon Campground. They saw the car yesterday afternoon but she left before dawn.”

“Oh, fucking hell.” Syed swore, “she must have left before they put up the barricades—Let’s go!”

Rubber screeched against concrete as the SUV sped up, making its way to Highway 89 without heeding the speed limit.

“Either she left Bozeman entirely before the cops and we’re fucked, or she’s trapped somewhere between here and the next barricade. Keep an eye out!”

Saul shrugged silently. He turned to the window again, concentrating on the road. He jerked when Syed made a sharp right, driving onto a winding side road.

“What’re you doing?”

“Looking. She must have hidden the car. She can’t have made it to the border, she can’t be at any of the checkpoints because the authorities would know. We need to search the woods, but not the mountains, her car can’t off-road.”

The descent along East River Road was slow and full of bends and curves, but Syed had regained some determination. She was tired of  the aimless wandering, now she was finally back into action  

Suddenly, she slowed down, stopping the car. A dozen paces behind her, was the tell-tale gleam of something metallic, glistening in the sunlight through the trees. It could have been a divider, or a random pile of garbage. But she was transfixed.

She walked back along the path, looking for a way in, groping blindly against the trees, until—

Oh fuck. She took out her gun. There it was, she’d found the Millennium Falcon.

It was a good hiding place, under the pine canopy, out of sight and out of mind. But Syed had been smarter. She advanced carefully, reaching the front of the car before pulling her weapon on the girl inside.

“Get out, Rey Jakku!”

The door opened to reveal a blonde woman wrapped in a tattered shawl. She took a drag from a lit cigarette. Syed paled.

“Kelsi! What the fuck are you doing in—where’s the girl?!”

It dawned on Rey that she had been awake since 4 AM this morning, since the minute she had caught Ben Solo red handed. She had changed cars around 7 AM and had passed the barricaded checkpoint an hour and a half later. After a quick breakfast she was back on the road again. The new car afforded her an unusual amount of comfort: the seat was somehow firm and soft at the same time, and the GPS and cruise control let her body take a break. She had her phone plugged into one of the USB ports, and she was  blasting her music on high, listening to the same three KYLO & THE KNIGHTS OF REN albums for a week now.

Despite the comfort, she was tired. She had managed to stay awake all night in Ben’s loving embrace, stealing long sleepy kisses and chewing on his earlobe as he ran his fingers along her breast. That was just one of seemingly thousands of little sensual ways he had kept her awake after making love to her earlier. She’d lost track of time.

Then came the brutal awakening at dawn, followed by an emotional rollercoaster that left her unwilling to go back to sleep. But now, in the snug warmth of the car, watching the open road stretch forever, it occurred to Rey that driving twelve hours straight was maybe a little too ambitious.

She didn’t want to end up strangled by Syed...but it was hard to stay awake behind the wheel. BB8 was adorable, chewing quietly on her toys, but being a dog, she was a terrible conversationalist.

Speeding along Highway 20 on her way to Idaho Falls, Rey tried to focus on her surroundings. Cows grazing along hidden pastures, lots of little calves, a cowboy riding a horse along the edge of the road, waving a red flag. Rey contemplated pulling over. He was obviously trying to warn her, but why? As she reached the next turn in the road, she understood. A very large herd of cattle shuffled onto the road, led by another handful of cowboys with lassos. They were moving pastures.

Truthfully, Rey hadn’t been able to see all the things she’d wanted on this trip, but this was a sight to behold. This wasn’t a tourist trap or a carefully staged rodeo show, what she was witnessing was a real slice of American life in the mountains. It was more authentic than anything she could have hoped for. These were real cattle herders who lived off of the land.

It was fascinating to watch, though it slowed her down quite a bit. She consulted the time on her dashboard. How much time did she have? How long before Syed saw through the ruse and began following her in earnest? There was only one way to California from here: she would have to follow the path of the Rocky Mountain valleys to Nevada, and then take the Interstate 80 to Reno. Anxiety gripped her by the throat. With every turn she made sure to check for the foreboding grey SUV in her rear view mirror.

As the car crept forward, she texted Ben.

Any news of Syed? Did she find the Falcon?

His response didn’t take long.

I’m watching her, she’s still searching Bozeman for you. The Millenium Falcon is safe. Good luck.

Rey calmed somewhat, focusing on the road ahead. She would stop at noon and not a moment before.

The landscape became drier and flatter over time. The Rockies turned into desert plains. Rey took it all in, there was no way she would see a desert in England. Of course there were the moors, in Scotland or Dartmoor, but nothing as immense as this.

Despite her fatigue and her stress, she marveled at every detail: Fort Hall Indian Reservation, oversized billboards declaring the glory of the Bible, a pickup truck pulling an RV pulling a trailer home attached to a buggy advertising “free coffee at Casino, next exit”. There was so much here that didn’t exist in England, or even in Europe. She couldn’t take pictures, or share her thoughts with anyone, so she tried to engrave every detail in her brain and tell Jess, Poe and Finn everything when she came home.

At half past noon, she stopped at Ashton, Idaho. It was a place to let BB8 stretch her legs, and it was about time both of them had some food. She fed BB water and treats, deciding to find a sandwich for herself.

Eventually, Rey found a locally-owned diner that was very popular with truckers. The tables were covered in red and white gingham tablecloths and the menu was painted under the front counter in large white letters. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fried chicken...she would have sold her soul for a  leafy green salad. She ordered a fried chicken sandwich plate, minus the coleslaw on the side.

After lunch, she played fetch with BB8 for a while, gave her some water, took her on a potty break, and settled her back into the car. It was an hour past noon and Rey was drained. Maybe she could take a little nap? A short, twenty minute nap out here was better than falling asleep at the wheel. If she accidentally killed herself out there because of fatigue, she would please no one but Syed.

Leaning her seat back as much as possible, she put on her surpasses and closed her eyes.

Twenty minutes, maximum.

The sound of her phone vibrating woke her up.

Rey jumped, needing a few seconds to Denver where she was. In the Lincoln, somewhere in Idaho. Where Syed was still trying to find her.

What time was it?

Shit, 3 PM. She had been asleep for two hours.

“Shit, shit, shit,” she muttered as she let BB8 out for one final potty break.

“Hurry up, BB! We need to get out of here soon!”

She was glad that she had woken up somehow, but how? Her phone. She checked her phone, the message on the creek causing her blood pressure to skyrocket.

Syed found the Falcon, FORCE has been informed. She knows you changed cars and she’s looking for you. I hope you’re far away. I’m out on the road too. Be careful - Ben

“Oh, fuck.”

The nightmares were coming true, Syed was getting closer and Rey had wasted precious time napping like a sitting duck. How did secret agents have this much stamina? James Bond never fell asleep in the car.

Candid Conversation: HW Special Features

Special features are pretty rare on Hot Wheels nowadays; they’re now mainly reserved for anything in the Experimotors series, and that’s a shame. But a few years ago... that was a completely different story. Today, I’m going to go through as many special features there are on Hot Wheels cars as possible. I may have missed some.

Opening hoods

This was a bit of a no-brainer. The Hare Splitter acting as the header image kind of gave it away. Opening hoods have been with the Hot Wheels lineup since 1968.

Hidden headlamps

Something not a lot of people know is that there was a Hot Wheels car with hidden headlamps. I have handled one of these before, courtesy of a friend.

Sliding doors

And now we get some ridiculous features such as side-sliding doors. Two Hot Wheels cars have had this feature, and both were activated through pulling something on the rear.

Opening rear hatches

These have also been a staple of the Hot Wheels lineup. The first car with one of these rear opening hatches came out in 1969 I believe; the Chaparral 2G.

Opening doors

This feature was fairly standard from the mid-’80s until the early ‘90s; it is now very uncommon for castings to have opening doors.

Opening tonneau covers

I’m pretty sure only one casting has this feature.

Flip-out wheelie bars

These are often made of either hard plastic or a flexible plastic. Most of these have been removed.

Tip-up bodies

Found mainly on funny cars. Some may flip open in other directions, like Lakester.

Detachable bodies

These are usually attached through tabs through the front and back. These castings don’t appear too often, and most castings with this feature have since had their bodies nailed down.

Suspension

What may be surprising to some is that suspension for Hot Wheels cars has been around for a long time. Since 1968, in fact.

Adjustable suspension

This one though... only came recently.

Opening trunks

Another highly uncommon feature. Opening rear doors will also be included in this section.

Functioning tow hooks

Another thing to increase playability for kids, too. These usually work pretty well. There are two types I can think of: the “rivet” type (hooks onto the rivet) and the “fender” type (hooks onto the bottom of the fender).

Pivoting/rotating parts

Especially common on fire trucks. May be found on certain construction vehicles

Other spinning parts

These can range from propellers to cement drums and other things.

Spinning fans

As far as I know there are only three castings with this feature. This feature has generally not been very common.

Opening canopies

There are a number with this feature, though this feature has generally been somewhat uncommon.

Removable roofs

Fairly common around the ‘70s and ‘80s but slowly fell in popularity soon after.

Twisting bodies

As far as I’m aware, there’s only one casting with this feature. Later toolings have this feature removed.

Functioning ramps

These ramps often slide around and can be pretty easy to lose since they are snapped on.

Adjustable splitters

These only came about rather recently to combat some issues that came about around 2014 or ‘15 when it came to realistic castings being made with front splitters that curved upwards to allow them to clear loops. This was rectivied starting from 2016. The splitter could be set downwards for a more realistic look or upwards to clear loops.

Tipping beds

Currently somewhat uncommon.

Now this is where things start to get ridiculous.

Some of these may function as multi-tools, but I have not tested out the wrench function. I will also need to find a Speed Driver so I can confirm stuff.

Extending body

I’m pretty sure only one casting has this feature.

Stamping

Again, it’s likely that only one casting has this feature.

Rolamatic

These castings have something that moves as it rolls. The concept has been around for a long time but Hot Wheels only adopted it fairly recently.
