my therapist spent today's session making Faces at me about getting an ADHD diagnosis

which

I can honestly say I have never seriously considered the possibility of seeking an ADHD diagnosis but she might not be a billion miles off

I was describing how I get "fizzy bored" where I have no energy or ability to move and nothing holds my attention but I feel like my bones are trying to vibrate out of me with the desire to be Doing Things and she was like 🤔 and I got onto the fact that I often need to be doing 3-4 things at once to ease into focusing on one and she was like 🤨 and then I mentioned how I find it really difficult to start doing things but once I'm in it I'm super focused and she was like 😌 have you considered the possibility of an ADHD diagnosis?

and so I explained that I don't really see the point because even though, unlike EDS and autism, a diagnosis could suggest an actual treatment, I don't really feel like anything I've described is disabling me cause I have the tools to manage it now most of the time and I feel Fizzy Bored WAY less often these days. and she was like 🤨

and I was like yeah to be fair actually I did use to think that about chronic pain, trauma and having shit eyesight and doing something about them did really change my experience. and she was like 😌 and I was like and actually now we mention it the fact that I sometimes for NO REASON AT ALL simply put off doing things even though they would be really easy to do and I want to do them for LITERAL YEARS is maybe. A thing that it might be nice to change if I could. And she was like 🤔 and I was like OH FUCK I'M GOING TO HAVE TO GENUINELY CONSIDER THIS POSSIBILITY AREN'T I?

anyway after talking a mile a minute and overrunning by 15 minutes I then got a quarter of a mile away on foot and realised I'd left my glasses on her table. she opened the door I went HEY SPEAKING OF ADHD

I've decided to create a whole list of SFW headcannons for each bachelor and bachelorette. I do have some NSFW ones, but will NOT be sharing them here. Hope you all enjoy and that my favorites aren't too obvious 🫣

Sam:

- 23 or 24 at the oldest

- I think he's tall, nearing 6’0” if not there

- he probably liked dinosaurs as a kid but more in a "I want them to eat each other and destroy my toy cars and little cities like godzilla" kinda way than "I can name every dinosaur from the jurassic period and know random facts about all of them" way, which I image is more the kind of kid Seb was

Sebastian:

- 25 or 26

- short king and is only like 5'7" or 5'8"

- has tattoos on his torso and arms, some of them he did himself as I imagine he probably has done some stick n pokes

- has an eyebrow piercing, multiple ear piercings, nose ring, and maybe a lip ring idk

- got Sam into modern rock and metal music when they were younger

- gave Sam and Abigail some of their piercings and did some of his own ear piercings

- taught himself programming and probably was a bit of a hacker too (maybe even got a degree but nobody remembers)

- became besties with Sam when they were kids (ik Sam grew up in the city, just let me have them as smalls playing together okay 😭)

- has a soft spot for all animals not just frogs

- originally learned to play the piano, Robin taught him how

- has never been in a relationship but I feel like maybe he's been kissed and had his first time at some point. He's awkward and kinda a loser (lovingly) but I imagine he's not entirely oblivious at the very least

- I feel like if he just learned how to cook he'd be good at it

- dislikes pda, seeing it and participating in it

- would show up at your house in the middle of the night to take you on a nighttime motorcycle ride under the stars

- will quit smoking if his partner dislikes it, even before marriage. I think he'd be really eager to please his partner in any way he can, and that would include quitting smoking

- bought his motorcycle by himself and Robin hates it. She worries about him every time he goes out on it. She even pitched in to buy some of his gear because she wanted him to be as safe as possible

- Willy reminds him of his grandfather who loved to fish

- very into nature conservation, especially the ocean, things he learned from his grandpa. He likes to talk to Willy and Leah about this sometimes

- Emily makes her clothes sometimes, and she acts like it's annoying but she actually super appreciates it especially since there isn't really anywhere to shop for clothes in person there

- has tried sun-in in her hair before she realized how bad it was for it

That is a very good question. I stumbled across Perpollo by "accident". I saw a fic on ao3 with this pairing, got curious and I read it. Turned out I started devouring every perpollo content I could find since then.

There are many things I like about Perpollo, tbh. I will try to speak about them in topics and then explain my reasoning. (This kinda reminds me of making a PowerPoint. XD)

Highlights the Greek Pantheon

PJO is a novel centered in Greek Mythology, but funny enough, it is not often Rick actually explores this world out of the surface level or with charicatures of the Gods playing its part. Today more often than not, I see Fanfic writers actually exploring more of real greek mythology, and introducing it in the fics and highlighting what is to be a god. To be divine. They explore more this relationship, and most part of the times, they do an awesome job. Especially in the time travels ones.

They adapt so well the historical part, and a lot of the complexities within the Olympian family. The Gods have more nuance. Sometimes it shows more of the "dark side" of the Gods, sometimes they just makes them more "divine". What Rick does not do. My only problem with it is the Zeus slander on purpose when he is not better nor worse than any other God within the myths. If Poseidon and Apollo deserves to be seen with nuance, why not Zeus? The King? That is personal, of course, especially for worshipping Him. But hey. Food for tought.

Sea Family

It is basically impossible to read a long perpollo fic without Poseidon and Percy's relationship being a part of it. We seriously lack any kind of relationship between Percy and Poseidon after PJO (Even if it is canonic Percy goes to Atlantis and the Queen bakes makes him cookies when he is there. Thank you, Rick). And honestly, I love it all the time. No matter if it is more centered in conflict, or in fluff. Poseidon being protective and in conflic is always a masterpiece.

We need more interactions between those two in matters of heart. And Perpollo gives me many ideas to how make it happen.

Oh. And how could I forget. Perpollo is an excelent way to introduce more of the Sea Family, such as Rhodes, Benthesykme, Kymopoleia, Triton, and there it goes. Especially if Percy ends up as a God within the narrative.

+ Funny enough, Helios once married Poseidon's daughter Rhode. But then - for a very long short history - he married another another ocean nymph called Perse. What quites makes me laugh about the entire irony of a another child of Poseidon falling in love with another sun god. And his son is called Percy. 😅

There is so much potential for drama, and this is just one of them.

Percy's ascencion might gives Percy a closure

Honestly. This one is a controversial take. People who talks with me for a long time knows my opinion on the fact I dont like how his story is going. I feel like it is going nowhere, and has no purpose. Not on how Rick's writing it, not since HoO and much less now on the Marketing Triology.

Nothing has really changed since Luke's death when the Gods promised to change. And where Rick is leading this story? Percy is bitter. Ok. But what is he gonna do about it? Nothing?

It seems for me the message PJO is sending is: "Adjust to an unfair system is better than to fight for make it better. It is nonsensical and leads you nowhere." That is my opinion. You might have your own.

Making him a God would fix it. (No. I dont believe Percy is able to beat Zeus. Everyone who has little knowledge about Greek Mythology knows how out of mind you have to be to say that), but he could be more influent and with his domains be able to help demigods in quests and keeping them safe. + always being there, would assure the Olympus to not change their ways back to neglect. Something he cant unsure after he dies. (He cannot even do that being alive because he is a mortal, guys. Hera took him for months. And he couldnt do anything).

+ It would make more sense with how powerful he is and has become, instead of only brushing it aside with "He is a child of the Big 3" bs.

Percy & Apollo dynamic

It depends a lot on how the writers is going to develop it. But I find really funny the bickering and their contrasts whenever they are on page. Percy with his sass, and Apollo liking to provoke him, and even his ceticysm in some circunstances. Both being very much two menaces together in different ways.

+ I believe Apollo with his more extroverted nature would well balance Percy introspection. Percy is always someone who has many things on his shoulders. He carried the weight of the sky on it and we can say he never let it go. Always taking responsabities it wasnt his to carry. Always sacrificing himself. Apollo can be the one to take it off from him for a while. And make Percy appreciate life more.

+ Percy making sure Apollo keeps his promises? Showing Apollo what is really a mortal life? Keeping him humble? Ensuring they will never let the other forget about what it is like to be human? Both being domestic with very mundane things? The sun falling in love with the sea? The archer who fell in love with a swordsman? The bard with the knight?

There are many tropes here and I love each one of them. (I have a soft spot for college student Percy with Apollo patiently tutoring him with whenever he has a difficult time task)

Apollo & Sally (+Blofis Family)

We talked about Apollo with Poseidon, but Apollo and Sally is really great in the fics. I find so cute Apollo deeply respecting Sally despite her being only a mortal. I just love it. And it makes complete sense, and a parallel between both Apollo and Percy is that both are momma's boys. (Actually, whenever Leto is introduced in a Perpollo fic Ik it is gonna be good)

+ I find the idea of Apollo blessing Estelle in arts and musics such a soft headcanon. I can just picture him teaching her to play different instruments and giving her different gifts.

With Paul is different. I picture Apollo being a bit indifferent with him at first, untill they start talking and debating about school reforming, teaching methods, etc. That is when they start getting along.

Apollo Cabin

I am not a fan of "Camper Mom Percy". There are fics I like, but in the overall, it is not really my thing. But we cant talk about Perpollo without mentioning Apollo's kids. And the chaos it spreads when the news is out is such a great and enjoyable thing. All the perpollo fics I read which highlights Will and sometimes Kayla, were incredibly funny.

And there is something really sweet about Percy falling in love with Apollo for him trying to be a better father.

Artemis & Apollo

The twins. When Artemis is brought to the narrative, I know for a fact I will like the story. Their dynamic is one of my favorites in greek mythology and I love when fanfic writers brings this to PJO. Even if it is a little thing? It is great to see Artemis there.

Gives Apollo a Happy Couple Moment

Despite the popular belief, Apollo had lovers that werent turned into plants. But! Always love to see him happy. Let him live a happy life with Percy. Be it mortal while it lasts or immortal.

What I wish to see?

More of Lester and Percy. It has so much potential. Honestly. Like. In any way you can imagine. It is a disaster comedic duo. And we deserve to see it.

But, I still hate James I'm so sorry but Lily deserved better and she settled, and I don't even care if that's offensive to say, it's the truth. Haha to be honest I was more debating why people hate James in an academic sense, like out of curiousity, I obviously don't think people HAVE to like him. I'm definitely not trying to convince anyone to like anything!

I will say I personally don't really understand character hate in general, since I rarely hate characters (usually the only characters I dislike are ones I feel aren't held accountable for their actions by the narrative, which is not James's case and imo isn't really the case of any HP character. Anyway-- of course you can hate James if you like, I can definitely see why people hate him. Maybe Lily did deserve better lol but oh well. She seemed happy with him and personally I kind of prefer imperfect relationships in fiction anyway. From Lily's perspective I think she would have felt that she was only compatible with someone who was also in the Order, because that's what she would have prioritised. In some sense maybe a nice stable guy with a good job would have been a better boyfriend, but that's not what was important to Lily.

Like I guess maybe she could have married Caradoc or someone random like that but tbh she chose a guy who she was attracted to, was happy with, and who was willing to fight for the same things she was-- and that's not nothing. Honestly what's kind of funny is the way I see James I think he'd agree that Lily deserved better than him lol

you're right about that! Although I will say that imo James wasn't just anti-Death Eater. Slughorn is anti-death eater as a character, so is Fudge. James is very vocally and actively pro-Muggleborn at a time where there's a distinct danger for being so. Not just Muggleborns but also werewolves, and I don't think it's a stretch to extrapolate that he'd have a similar attitude towards other groups like squibs and half-giants-- and the thing that I think does distinguish James is that he does put his money where his mouth is (both figuratively and literally.) He goes far out of his way to help Remus, and dedicates his life to fighting in a pro-Muggle resistance group at the age of 17.

In my view at least, that's quite a bit more than just being anti-death eater as like a vague stance. Risking your life for a cause is quite a bit more than the minimum, because most of us never risk our lives at all if we can help it. And if it is the bare minimum then all of us are currently failing haha. A majority of HP characters are anti-death eater, but what they're willing to do about it varies. So the same way I think snaters often downplay Snape's sacrifices, I think jaters can often downplay this fact about James.

Tbh it makes sense given that in the books joining the Order is kind of presented as the bare minimum, because that's how Harry views the issue. There's no way that Harry as a character wouldn't join the Order, because Harry is an exceptionally brave and selfless person. But if it was the bare minimum, why weren't Lily's classmates joining the Order in droves? As is explained in OotP, the Order's situation in the first war was much more dire and hopeless than in the second war, as it was unknown whether Voldemort could be defeated at all. The Marauders were likely the only seventh years willing to join the Order, so to me it makes sense that Lily would grow closer to them and to James in particular.

ANYWAY, all of that isn't to convince you of anything haha, I'm just sharing my thoughts. Sometimes you just dislike characters and I think that's perfectly fine. This definitely doesn't annoy me btw! Thank you for being polite and also loving Lily, that's the energy we need in this life ❤️

I did! Killer got it for me. Is it safe? Uh...well I tried it and I was fine! We had reasonable safety precautions. It is nice, and definitely different than what I thought. Aaand wrote. This is the collar set we got, in orange - one for me, and one to share with uh, curious friends. Tho, I want to attach one as a garter belt around my upper thigh and the other around my neck. Fun fact: Orange is Fletcher's favorite color :)

The collar has three settings you can use: Beep, vibrate, and shock. I guess the beep is the lowest level, but it's my least favorite. Super loud and unpleasant. I hate it.

The vibrate gets your attention, and it feels kinda funny, but it doesn't hurt. It can be a little startling. They mix in the vibrate sometimes to mess with me.

The shock collar has two protruding nubs that make contact with your skin and deliver the shock. They aren't sharp, but just having the collar tight enough to touch means they are pushing into you, and moving makes them rub, so I usually have a couple red spots afterwards from where they sit. It very quickly becomes uncomfortable, but uh, comfort's not really the point. Makes me feel bad for Tommy for having those metal barbs in his neck as contact points. My collar hasn't left marks that last, at least not yet. I also have skin that does not easily bruise or scar though! Disappointing, tbh lol.

The great thing about this collar is that it has 99 levels, so we could start super super slow and see how it goes. I started out pressing it to my thigh. Nice large muscle with some fat before I put it somewhere as sensitive as the neck. I couldn't feel a 1 or 2, but I felt a 3 as a light shock. It hurts, and I was quickly thinking, yikes, no way I can get to 99 and I don't know about my neck. We began with increments of 1, then a few at a time, then 5 at a time, then 10.

The shock is painful, but VERY very short. Once it's done, it's done, no remaining sting or aftershock. So it would hurt, then it would end, then I would think "well....that wasn't SO bad...maybe I could do one or two more..." Then we were at 30, 50, 70, 90, 98, 99. I survived!

It hurts, and makes me jolt, but that's it. I wrote them before as being strong enough to drop you to your knees, but it really wasn't that strong. I've seen videos of people passing out when they try a shock collar - I was nowhere near passing out. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I want to check and see if other shock collars are stronger. I also have a hand taser... but it was purchased online, so I want to check exactly how strong it is before I get shocked.

The nodes were right against my trachea. More painful for sure. We started slow from the beginning again, but started jumping up in higher intervals more quickly. I made it to 99 just fine.

We've played some games with it, sometimes with friends. Kills would roll the antenna which changes the levels up and down. Then they'd tell me to guess which number they stopped on. If I got it right, I wouldn't be shocked. The only one I got right was 69 because they laughed when they looked at it.

They checked the number and raised their eyebrows. I guess 99 and they smiled and laughed, holding up the controller. "Wow! Yeah!" I felt relief. There's this inherent anxiety you get when you're wearing it, knowing it can happen any second. They showed me the screen. "Yeah, 98. So close." And shocked me. So mean!

They claimed that the levels were random, but they were magically always 60+. Except for one 42, which is my favorite number other than 10. Fun Fun. I've enjoyed it.

hey, you probably talked about it before but it just occurred to me that if Kabru is actually the child of a incubus, his eyes are not the only thing inherited by the demon, but also the being "famous with the ladies" thing. he IS charming, but other than that ofc the girls fall for him, he's half incubus!

I haven't, but I don't really believe Kabru is actually the child of an incubus (since incubus are wasps and he isn't a wasp). I don't think he's a bastard either tbh, would be most fitting that his mom got casted out for no reason but for the fact that funny genetics made his eyes blue (is perfectly possible for two parents with dark eyes to have a child with blue eyes, it's just very rare), Kabru's blue eyes and high charisma probably do make him feel guilty for what happened to his mom. If he relates the charisma to the incubus I think he would hate is as much as he hates his eyes.

I also don't think demons other than the demon are real in dungeon meshi since most of the talk (like succubus and incubus) sound like normal folklore.

i think the thing that makes toon-beetlebabes the optimal version of beetlebabes, particularly in comparison to the musical version of the ship, is that lydia is actually... nice.

musical lydia is funny in her meanness, but she is still mean. movie lydia is a lonely teenager masquerading (at least, thats how i interpreted it) as someone angstier and more uncaring than she really is.

cartoon lydia is cheerful and kind and intelligent, who at least tries politeness first before she decides if someone deserves it or not. cartoon lydia is unflappable in the face of beetlejuices gross and creepy habits — in fact, thats WHY she likes him so much. she's such a genuine person that her spooky interests dont come off as an aesthetic mask to bolster her attitude.

(now that i think about it, astrid from the film makes me think of almost a perfect mix of musical and toon lydia — she's surly and dismissive, and has an interest in protecting the environment).

of course, beetlejuice himself is half of this dynamic, and again i think the reason the cartoon version of this duo works so well is that lydia is the only person beetlejuice would go out of his way to do something nice for. i don't think he even considered the idea of being lonely before he met lydia, and then after becoming her friend he got to experience a range of emotions he didn't seem to comprehend or have access to before — he just likes her that much! he didn't give two shits about anyone before he met her.

musicaljuice kiiinda taps into that, but that version of beetlejuice was sad regardless of whether or not he knew lydia — he was just lonely and kind of pathetic and would try his "i'm your new best friend" shpeal on anyone who seemed remotely interested in letting him stick around (tbh a lot of his actions in the bulk of the show dont seem to match his dismissively murderous monologue in "the whole being dead thing" right at the beginning).

cartoon beetlejuice and lydia are such fully realized characters outside of their dynamic that it makes their scenes where they ARE together even better.

sorry if i said anything (read: everything) you've already said before but just... ahhh i LOVE toonbabes so much. it was the first proper ship i ever had, and it still remains extremely dear to me.

Agreed, 1000%. Toon Lydia is so beautifully confident in who she is and what she likes. She's kind and polite to just about everyone she meets, but she loves spooky things and bugs and, to the endless confusion of the people around her, Beetlejuice himself. And Beetlejuice loves that about her.

Quite literally the only thing toon Beetlebabes has working against it is the question of their ages, which everyone's got their own way of either approaching or headcanoning around...if it weren't for that, if Lydia were just stated to be 18 from the get-go, they'd be the Gomez and Morticia of '90s cartoons. They're two people who love everything about each other, support each other endlessly, build off one another to become better people, and spend every day together happy that they met. They were very special to me as a kid, and they always will be.

For the director's cut: anything about "eddie makes it worse"

Alli you are in luck, the Avs Charity Banquet sufficiently distracted me from The Horrors (say thank you specifically to Nate MacKinnon for his little dancy-dance) so I feel good talking about Eddie Makes It Worse now. Not gonna be much commentary, tbh, because I fully lost steam on part three and will probably never finish it, so you're getting the unedited draft I've had sitting around for months at this point. I am once again slightly suspicious about how much of my spec fic related to Tommy and his insecurities has ended up on the show, because I really don't think I'm that good at getting a read, but alas. Eddie Makes It Worse was specifically written in response to me not blocking well enough on here (although I can't actually remember the exact post that made me ravenous for Eddie to throw another live grenade at an Issue), and also me thinking to myself "But wouldn't it be funny if actually BOTH of them were jealous of Eddie for completely batshit reasons because Eddie loves them both like brothers". Here's the draft that's been hanging around taunting me for ages:

Tommy won't lie. He's thought about it. Despite Eddie's firm assertion that he's straight, the way he knows without a doubt Eddie isn't attracted to him - he's thought about it. And not even necessarily in a death-knell of the relationship kind of way. Eddie's hot. Buck's hot. The two of them are obsessed with each other and impossible to separate.

(That's unfair. Eddie has absolutely made it a point to give Buck and Tommy their own time. He's forced them into it, when they can tell he's feeling down and hesitate to leave him be.)

So. He's thought about it. Idle thoughts, bordering on fantasy. What they'd look like together. How they'd move, how they'd sound. How it would feel to watch it from the outside. How it would feel, if they knew he was watching.

Eddie makes an intrigued noise when Buck tips his chin and Tommy once again considers throwing something. Buck's never once used that move on Tommy, because he likes not being the aggressor, likes the feeling that Tommy just can't quite take it anymore. Sometimes, Tommy was certain he yapped so much just to see Tommy snap and lean in for a kiss.

And then there are lips. Because they are actually fully commiting to this. Buck's lips, on Eddie's, a little more forceful than Tommy had been expecting - but then maybe he's just projecting. Tommy and Buck aren't BuckandEddie. They have a different thing.

It's not not hot. Buck's hand slides along Eddie's side, tugs him in. Eddie's lips part just enough for Buck to press the advantage. Their noses clash, and Buck changes the angle, and the awkward hand Eddie's had floating at Buck's shoulder shifts to grip his neck.

Buck opens his eyes as he gets Eddie's bottom lip between his teeth and tugs, and suddenly he's watching his ex make out with a mutual friend while his ex stares straight into his eyes and challenges him to do something about it.

Tommy can't move. Can't think can't breathe doesn't want a single thing to do with any of this and he wishes he'd never let Eddie through that door.

They'd talked about it once. The idea of seeing each other physical with other people. Buck took it as an insult, and Tommy was just grateful that he wouldn't be introducing Buck to the idea of it, even if he'd spent the next week promising Buck that he didn't expect Buck to cheat.

("It wouldn't be cheating if it was something we discussed," Tommy had said, torn between begging forgiveness and trying to give Buck a little more insight into what this new section of the world he'd opened up was really like sometimes, like straight people didn't also fuck around for the excitement of it. The thing was, he didn't really want to be Evan Buckley's gay guru and the fact that the very idea of an even slightly open relationship was abhorrent to Buck had settled something under Tommy's skin. They were in this. They were together. Tommy hadn't pushed or examined any further than that and he wishes he had.)

Buck slides a hand into the short hairs at the back of Eddie's head, swallows up the sound of Eddie breathing through his nose, and releases with a slick noise, hand pressing Eddie back, eyes still not leaving Tommy.

And now Tommy has seen... all of that.

"Weird technique," Eddie intones, eyes tilted up to the ceiling like he's actually formulating a critique. "The biting thing was kinda nice." Buck's eyes finally fall away from Tommy because now he is incensed.

"Weird technique! You introduced tongue before our faces were even aligned!"

"You have a weird shaped nose, I wasn't expecting to have to work around it!"

Buck's hand darts towards his face. Tommy happens to like that nose, but then again, the one on his own face is a lot to work with. He'd find anything less than a beak charming.

This is ... not even remotely what he'd been expecting. They both seem like nothing has shifted. Like this is any other day where they bicker just to bicker.

"Do women actually like that thing you do on the roof of their mouth?" Buck asks, gesturing vaguely, and Eddie scowls.

"Your tongue is like, monstrous, you know that right?"

Swell. They have a comedy routine.

In any other situation, Tommy fucking knows Buck would be forming a shit-eating grin and a sly comment that revealed way too much information. As it is, Buck's gaze just darts to Tommy, momentary heat before his expression shutters.

"I don't think he's convinced, Buck. Maybe we should have sex." Eddie says it so monotone Tommy's actually a little impressed.

Buck looks contemplative. "I mean fine, but if you don't like my kissing you are not gonna like-"

"Are you two fucking insane?"

They both turn to look at Tommy. He's sounding a little manic, tone pitched higher than normal, eyes wide, hands gesturing more than they usually do. He wants to scream. He wants to cry. He wants them both to leave and never speak to him again because this is beyond the pale of insanity.

My Unpopular Riordanverse Opinions

Disclaimer: none of these are fact all are my opinions. I'm happy to hear your disagreements but please do so respectfully because some of my opinions are really unpopular lol, so just be ready. Also spoilers obvs.

Also, as a random fact, I read the Heroes of Olympus about once a year, sometimes more. Lol I love that series actually, its low-key my comfort series.

1. Every time someone suggests Grover should've been on the quest over Coach Hedge, an angel loses their wings lmao. I just love him so much and all of his short tempered anger.

2. I don't like Valgrace. I almost literally got my ass ate off for saying this last time 💀 PLEASEEE leave me alone!! I just don't enjoy this ship, I didn't see the chemistry that other people saw with them. With that being said.

3. I don't like theyna (see above reasons)

4. I do, however, like Valzhang and ValZhangEsque and I think they're horribly underrated ships.

5. But tbh I think there is too much ship content. In the fandom and the books. I wish so much that there was most character centric content than there is. Not just of Jason, of all characters.

6. I love Frank. I love that he doesn't seem as morally bound as the other Roman characters. It interests me. That and I find him funny and endearing low-key.

7. I like Heroes of Olympus better than PJO. Not necessarily because of the writing, but because I liked all the different characters and world building of hoo better.

8. Blood of Olympus was a flop but it had some slay parts, especially on the characterization of Jason and Reyna.

9. Not unpopular, but I never liked Caleo. Specifically because I think solving Leo's arc by giving him a gf is not good writing and low-key disrespects his character.

10. I was not originally a fan of Reyna upon initially reading the books. I found her too authoritarian and someone I would actively fight irl. I would lose, but it would be worth it. I ended up liking her more as I got older especially with BoO, but y'all she is, like, unstandable in Camp Jupiter Classified.

11. I didn't really like Nico either, and I still feel indifferent towards him. Listen, I've had my fair share of trauma, but it is still really difficult for me to connect to cynical/ pessimistic characters. It's just not who I am.

12. Fandom obsession with Percy and Percabeth annoys me. It wouldn't be so bad except for people are hellbent on using comparison to make Percy and percabeth look better than quite literally every other character or ship. It's so irritating to me.

thank youuu i had to think about this one though bc to be honest i saw this ask and the entirety of cw supergirl disappeared from my brain. but now i have remembered things to be salty about. looping in @yourlocalegotisticalqueerishere who also asked. anyway this one is not quite so funny unforchy, it's more morbid as hell?? but um i think the way the show/the superfriends handled the aftermath of crisis is genuinely really disturbing.

@sideguitars and i have talked a lot about this and i touched on it in my fic which everyone should go readies right now :3 but basically. the result of crisis is that everyone in the arrowverse (except a select few people - barry, kara, kate kane, the legends of tomorrow lady i legitimately forgot her name, j'onn, lex, ryan choi, technically the wellses who are stored instead nash (?), jennifer pierce, & lastly lena due to lex's deal with the monitor) dies. and when the world is "reset" j'onn flies around restoring a lot of the main characters' memories but not all of them. in practice, all the shows treat this less like our beloved characters have literally died and been replaced and their replacements have 'our' versions' memories in their heads as well, and much more like restoring memories effectively brings our dead versions back to life. let us proceed with the assumption that this is more or less what is happening, because that is how the shows act.

now there are 2 ways to read the morality of this action of restoring memories, which notably happens multiple times without consent from the person involved. #1 is that the new versions of these characters are people in their own right and deserve to live. through this reading, restoring 'our' versions is a violation of these people, tantamount to murder; it is overwriting their inconvenient experiences with the experiences of people our characters like better. there is no material difference, in this reading, between what j'onn does to the people whose memories he restores and what lena does to eve in s5 when she puts hope in her brain. through this reading, the superfriends are pure villains. you could imagine a superhero movie with this very plot, in fact: a sympathetic supervillain from another universe that got erased trying to replace people from this universe with people from their own.

#2 is that our versions of these characters, for whatever reason, deserve to live more than the new versions (or versions from any other earths). through this reading, it is justifiable to restore people's memories without consent, but anyone who is not restored is effectively being allowed to die, an act of criminal negligence by a band of so-called superheroes. the limits of who gets chosen to have their memories returned then become morbidly fascinating. on supergirl -- which is the only show that crisis really affects at all, frankly (besides arrow i guess but who gives a fuck), so it's kind of the only one where any of this matters -- we know for a fact that j'onn restores alex, nia, brainy, kelly, and clark and probably lois and maybe m'gann also i forget tbh. i think it is reasonable to assume he also restored james. i certainly hope he did! but we know he did not restore, say, cat grant, or andrea rojas, or william dey, or other people outside their immediate circle.

which raises questions like: why kelly? because she is alex's girlfriend of a few months? because she is james's sister? well, what about mama olsen? did they restore her memories? surely not remembering lex luthor torturing her son would change her significantly. what about alex's fake latina ex-girlfriend, maggie sawyer? does she not get her memories back, on account of being merely the ex, not the current girlfriend of supergirl's sister? and so on.

but of course the biggest crime by far is that the superfriends do not know that lex made a deal with the monitor for lena's survival and they believe she perished. and they do nothing to bring her memories back. this is despite the fact that she is unquestionably the number one person affected by the change to the universe. please consider that the biggest change to earth-prime from earth-38 is that lex luthor now never went evil, is friends with the supers, and is still in charge of luthorcorp. obviously this has a trickle-down effect on many people's lives, but i would think it obvious that the person most impacted is his little sister who he abused and manipulated for her entire life (per s4), who was left to deal with the fallout of his going evil and, oh yeah, who recently had to kill him. and now suddenly he is back in her life and has power over her and he remembers every way that she (rightfully) betrayed him. in fact i think it is not at all a stretch to say that lex's primary motivation in how he set up earth-prime was gaining more control over lena (which is why it's interesting and speaks to a lingering ember of humanity and love in lex that he lets her keep her memories at all).

and for some reason none of the superfriends are like. hey maybe lena, our former friend whose last action before her (apparent) death was helping to save three billion people at the superfriends' behest, deserves to live and know the full truth of who her brother is and what their relationship has been. alex even tries to argue that kara shouldn't tell lena about any of their history at all because then lena might be mad at kara for all the lying and that would, you know, suck for kara personally. which, like, i guess kara wanting to tell lena the truth is a step up from that load of horseshit, but again, none of you considered restoring her memories? you're just going to let her stay dead? after alex, j'onn, and kara all agreed in 5x08 that lena was not a lost cause and could still be saved? lmao. okay.

and then once they realize lena has her memories we again have the issue of like. why is it that alex and kara get to have THEIR support systems restored but lena doesn't? again. lena is the one whose life has been MOST overturned by crisis. she is the one currently under her abuser's thumb -- her abuser who is the only one who apparently bothered to consider saving her life, and who is the only non-superfriend she knows who also remembers their previous earth. which, keeping in mind that as far as she knows all the superfriends were down to kill her in 5x08 with a nuclear fucking missile, means that she has literally nowhere safe to go.

like. one of her best and most supportive friends was sam arias. and to be fair s5 seems dead set on pretending sam never existed with the exception of 5x13. but if she wanted to go to sam, it wouldn't be the same sam with knowledge of earth-38. andrea, also, isn't the same andrea. they make it a point to show us she has a different backstory. even lillian isn't the same lillian, and, i mean, lillian was indeed abusive to lena, but earth-38 lillian was more on her side than earth-prime lillian is. lena has literally no one. she has her abusive brother and her former friends who lied to her for years and tried to kill her (as far as she knows) and that's it. but alex gets her girlfriend of a few months back. and kara gets her cousin back. because what kara and alex want matters, and what lena needs does not matter. and then the superfriends are all Shocked and Appalled that lena goes back to lex. which like. i don't love that as a story beat either, but i put it to you: where the fuck else was she supposed to go?

anyway i could rant about this all day long lol but basically it points to how profoundly unconcerned the superfriends were with lena's status as lex's first and primary victim, which really undermines their later claims that they're lena's new and better family. and it also points to how little the show itself cared about the psychology of abuse victims (particularly female ones) that this was never factored into how they wrote the reconciliation between lena & the superfriends. and more broadly the whole thing suggests a frankly eerie self-centeredness on the part of the superfriends that makes all their moral posturing seem hollow. no matter which way you read the morality of restoring people's memories post-crisis, the superfriends (mostly kara, j'onn, and alex tbf) acted callously, selfishly, and without care for the very people they were supposed to protect. and, as always, lena luthor suffered for it.

Honest thoughts on DTS season 7 as someone who actually watched the whole 2024 season live and never missed a session (not even an FP1 or FP2)

Because yes I watch DTS, no it's not how I got into watching F1, but anyone who doesn't like that can stay mad 🤣

Also yes, a lot of my complaints are about stuff consistently on brand for DTS and they are things that apply to previous seasons too. I'm just an overshared with an opinion that I like to voice.

Things I liked:

Firstly getting Jenson on there was top tier best choice DTS has made in a very very very long time. At least they finally listened and got rid of Danica, wish Sky would do the same (hopefully? maybe?)

Red Bull and Mercedes both fumbled hard not taking Carlos into their teams.

George is not consistent enough and is too error prone to lead the team into greatness. There is a common running theme that whenever he has the opportunity to do something great that could prove him to be a force to be reckoned with, he fucks up. Vegas was the only exception but ngl I forgot he even won Vegas bc at that point in the season it was so difficult to see any significance in a win that wasn't McLaren, Ferrari or Max.

This isn't something that was said in the show just something I've seen people getting mad about, but I don't think we needed an episode dedicated to Lewis' Silverstone win. Anyone who watches the sport knows that the win was already overplayed and the British media kept that story running for not just weeks but months.

In connection to ^^ We did need an episode for Charles' Monaco win bc he's never won there, he's had notoriously bad races and probably some of the worst moments in his career to date in Monaco. So him winning the race there was big enough and important enough to justify it's own episode

The Singapore episode was easily the best. I hope they do something like that again. It was one of those simple but effective moves. I know certain drivers wouldn't do it but I think that group was the perfect drivers to choose.

The fact they held McLaren and their strategy accountable as that was what ultimately cost them several wins (though this also falls into the what I disagree with section for other reasons). I do like that they addressed that Oscar's Monza moment was massively costly to the team (imo Charles still had better strategy and probably would've won regardless but possibly less of a chance had Oscar not overtaken Lando).

Zak getting under Horner's skin was actually pretty hilarious. Like everyone was talking about Lando's mentality but like Horner can't even handle Zak celebrating wins without throwing out insults like a child. Funny tho.

Kamatsu is my Sheyla. Like oh my god protect that man at all costs please 😭 but also it was good seeing Haas get only one episode this season rather than half the damn episodes. Lowkey one of the best things that came from Gunther leaving.

Now things I heavily disliked, it's a lot so get comfortable:

The whole McLaren Hungary issue irritated me because in truth yes, Lando made the right decision on a moral level (ngl one I think he visibly regretted really but everyone around him was saying it was right so he had to agree especially with cameras around bc people would rip him a new one otherwise) but Zak saying that Oscar was the fastest on track for that race was actually a flat out lie. I watched live timing after they both pitted the first time Oscar just lost momentum and Lando gained speed.

The whole Lando vs Max thing and actually using the uninformed and uneducated argument that Lando "doesn't have the mentality" to beat Max was...pathetic tbh especially since even the likes of Max, Lewis and other great drivers disagree with it really. It's especially ironic that they comment about it when the people trying to talk down about Lando and use that never made it to the level of racing or winning races that Lando did in 2024...and he's still not even in his prime.

Not including Bearman's Ferrari race in Jeddah was disappointing, I think it was a key moment in the year, not just from Carlos' side which they did cover but from Bearman's. But they did cover his Brazil performance which was somewhat a redemption. It just lacked to shock of Jeddah where he beat Lewis and Lando with less than 36 hours notice. But hearing Ollie's radio and the fear in his voice did make me feel a little sick. I know he was fine but like I hate hearing fear in someone's voice like that.

Horner was acting like a bitter ex who got rejected again when he said he'd take Oscar. I'm not saying Oscar isn't a driver that everyone should want, however Horner has been rejected by Lando so many times now and not only that but 2023 Horner was publicly begging for Lando the same way Toto was publicly begging for Max in 2024. Like him getting salty and saying he'd have Oscar over Lando imo just proved that he's still not over that loss after publicly praising Lando as hard as he did.

Saw some people saying DTS made Oscar a villain. That's not how I saw it, maybe slightly in addressing Monza but it was far more that McLaren was Lando's villain by basically fucking up so many times. Whereas Oscar wasn't really made to be a villain, maybe a little cocky and overconfident but I feel like they've done that to every young F1 driver who is doin well. They did it to Max, Charles (the whole Charles vs Seb narrative for DTS was too much), Lando, Oscar is just the next one. It's not so much he's being made to be a villain, he's just growing out of the shy rookie phase that everyone praised him for when he first got into McLaren and I noticed that last year before DTS and even before his win. Essentially they are kind of covering Oscar's development of confidence in F1 and if you see it as a villain it's more on you than him bc I didn't get that vibe at all but it's probably just subjective stuff.

Would've loved to see the drama behind Adrian Newey's exit, I'm sure it wasn't dramatic at all. Probably just handed in his notice then dipped but like...I'd have loved to see the conversations behind it, bc there definitely was conversations that would've taken place.

The way they actively overlooked errors being made that weren't by the drivers but made it look like the errors were on the drivers...like aside from McLaren (and it wasn't even all the time for them) it just felt like the narrative was always that it was only the driver who could control if they won and that the team and car had no role in it.

Daniel being maybe a little out of touch when it came to his salary...like...he was still paid more than Yuki and while I might be a little oversensitive about the comment, but in today's economy and financial climate...he's a millionaire who as far I'm aware in 2024 was still residing in Monaco (however I could 100% be wrong on that).

Liam, I'm sure on a personal level he's an alright guy. I don't like him that much if I'm being honest and I think he plays it up for cameras acting like a bit of a prick to try and mimic Max but it just comes across as...desperation? It's giving...pick me girl vibes and everything he says is just...it makes me cringe. I know DTS is a big Daniel fan so they were always going to make Liam the villain but like he 100% didn't help himself. I do pity him a little bc like I say I'm sure his friends and family love him, but I didn't like him before the season 7 release and I like him even less now...

Not Daniel's biggest fan but they gave him false hope at Red Bull and that was just purely a dick move. Knowing he was really blindsided is pretty nasty.

Similarly, it was sad saying bye to Checo. Like the right decision was made but it was a hard watch bc anyone who watched 2021 knows that Max never would've won the title without him and he has had moments of greatness in Red Bull and before Red Bull it was a great driver to watch.

Would've liked to see some inside sight on Hungary from Red Bull's pov because that was a very significantly bad race that Max was visibly and audible angry in. Like racing Lewis and hitting him in a way that we got Monza 21 flash backs...I know they can't cover everything but idk it was a big moment in my eyes that really spurred on the turning point for Red Bull to realise just how bad they'd got

Alpine (I'm not particularly fond of either driver so my pov on them is pretty neutral, I don't favour one driver over the other), the narrative that Esteban was the issue with the car when on several occasions we saw him actually easily outperforming Pierre and vice versa. Though I'll note that Pierre's best performances comparatively to Ocon were when they stopped upgrading Ocon's car... we can take that however we want. However best decision Alpine made was deciding to drop one of them. Whether they dropped the right driver idk. Imo I don't think either is better than the other, in fact if I were to choose a driver pairing that was most similar in skill level from 2024, it would be Alpine by a landslide. They even have similar tempers, but Ocon absolutely has more aggression and imo is willing to risk more for success but it might come at the cost of his career entirely.

Flavio needs ban from the sport. He needs cut off from any connections he has within the sport. I'd not even allow him to watch races on broadcast. They never should've given him a platform. I'd have rather seen Oakes and Otmar's part in the Alpine drama.

It wasn't Netflix's fault but I hated seeing the sadness and pain that Carlos was going through from Ferrari.

favourite game: BW1 and/or SM (likes the characters and story. was genuinely sad when n left at the end of bw1.)

unironically loves, and uses pokémon that are usually hated or otherwise ignored, such as simisear (she picked oshawott in her first playthrough of white), audino, zebstrika, drampa etc. though tbh she enjoys all pokémon in general and usually tries for 100% dex completion in every game.

completes every single sidequest she comes across, because she really wants to help the npcs. would prefer to play through the main story slowly and at her own pace, except her friend group is full of people who play for endgame content and/or competitive, and she more often than not is urged to complete the main story quickly so she can help them out with postgame (e.g. trading post-HOF version exclusives).

only occasionally dips her toes into battle facilities, usually because another friend (or her brother) is challenging multi battles and needs a partner. the one battle facility she actually grinds of her own accord is the battle subway, for character-related reasons.

doesn't battle much, really just her friends if they're up for it. prefers to do other co-op activities in multiplayer such as raids.

ephraim

favourite game: pokkén (loves beating the shit out of opponents in a fighting game. it's cathartic at least.)

doesn't really catch a lot of pokémon, just those he thinks looks cool / strong. the exception is when he's trying to help his sister complete the dex and needs to catch version exclusives.

in fact the twins always get opposite game versions (for mainline + old mystery dungeon) for that reason, to cover more ground, e.g. ephraim's first pokémon game was black, eirika's was white (which their dad bought for them when they were kids). they either play third versions (emerald, plat) / single titles (LA) concurrently, or only one of them plays while the other backseats the entire time.

rushes the main story to get to the battle facilities (and endgame items for competitive prep). was very disappointed when SV didn't have any sort of battle facility.

ladders a lot ingame and on battle sims. also fights innes every friday night, where he runs the risk of getting both of them banned from showdown over battle chat getting spicy.

lyon

favourite game: explorers of sky, poképark 2 or SM (he vibes with the more grim plot)

also a 100% dex completionist, though he usually tries to play third versions / transfer from other games to do so.

has memorised at least one dex entry for every pokémon. just knows all sorts of stats and lore off the top of his head.

actually knows how to datamine / modify game files. he will never admit it but he absolutely has used cheats ingame before.

doesn't do battle facilities beyond grinding for BP for items, or playing with friends. he prefers to explore the region to its fullest extent and learn about all the background lore.

he does play competitive, but isn't very good at it yet because he doesn't really have time to practise (actually studies irl).

may or may not also be making a horror romhack of his own with knoll's help.

likes running risky strats such as (in mainline) multi-hit moves without skill link / loaded dice, serene grace + paraflinch etc. frequently also does these on challenge runs such as nuzlockes, because it's funny.

actually pretty good at the game, he just can't resist the allure of 50/50 coinflips to decide a game.
