Tumblr media
For us at Culinary Genes, culture and culinary traditions are not just elements; they're our heartbeat, our connection to the past, and our guide to the future. 🙌🏼
As an Italian immigrant, I was fortunate to be steeped in the rich tapestry of family, food, and faith from the start. Our kitchen is a living testament to the beautiful journey from Italy to our hearts today. Each dish, a piece of our heritage, passed down through generations, preserving the magic of time-honored recipes.
It's more than food; it's a way of life. Our family bonds are reinforced around the table, where laughter, love, and stories flow as freely as the wine. Our culture shapes us, and our traditions keep us grounded.
At Culinary Genes, we believe that sharing these traditions is sharing our souls. Join us on this journey where every bite carries history, and every dish carries love. 🌿❤️

🍇🍞🍗 The Levitical Diet is a set of eating guidelines found in the Bible's Old Testament. It outlines what foods are considered clean and unclean for consumption. These guidelines are still followed by some religious communities today. 🌽🍆🐖 The Levitical Diet is based on the book of Leviticus, which outlines the dietary laws that the Israelites were to follow. These laws were put in place to promote cleanliness and health, as well as to set the Israelites apart from other nations. 🥦🍤🥩 The Levitical Diet includes restrictions on certain types of meat, such as pork and shellfish, as well as guidelines for preparing and cooking food. It also includes guidelines for fasting and feasting, as well as rules for the consumption of blood. Understanding the Levitical Diet can provide insight into the history and culture of the Israelites.1. Understanding the Levitical Diet: A Biblical Perspective on EatingThe Levitical diet is a set of dietary laws outlined in the Bible. These laws were given to the Israelites by God through Moses. The purpose of these laws was to set the Israelites apart from other nations and to keep them healthy. The Levitical diet includes restrictions on certain animals such as pigs and shellfish. It also includes rules about how animals should be killed and prepared for consumption. The diet emphasizes the importance of eating clean and unprocessed foods. Following the Levitical diet can have health benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer. It can also promote weight loss and improve digestion. However, it's important to note that the Levitical diet is not a requirement for Christians today. Jesus declared all foods clean in Mark 7:19. Christians are free to eat whatever they want, but should still strive to make healthy choices. Understanding the Levitical diet can provide insight into the importance of healthy eating and the role food plays in our lives. It can also deepen our understanding of the Bible and its teachings. 🥦🥕🍎🍇🍓🐟🐄🐑🚫🐖🦐🐌🚫2. The Importance of Clean and Unclean Foods in the Levitical Diet🍎🐖🐟 The Levitical diet distinguishes between clean and unclean foods. Clean animals have split hooves and chew the cud, while clean fish have fins and scales. Eating unclean foods is considered an abomination. 🌽🐄🐑 Clean animals are used for sacrifices and can be eaten. Unclean animals are forbidden, including pigs, rabbits, and camels. Eating them is a sin and can lead to spiritual impurity. 🍤🦀🐌 Clean seafood includes fish with fins and scales, such as tuna and salmon. 🦞🐙🦑 Unclean seafood includes shellfish, such as shrimp and crab, and squid or octopus. 🥛🧀 Dairy products are clean, but they cannot be consumed with meat. The Levitical diet also prohibits the consumption of blood, which is considered the life force of an animal. 🍲🥘🍛 The Levitical diet is a reminder of God's holiness and the importance of obedience. It also promotes a healthy lifestyle and encourages gratitude for the blessings of food. 🙏🏼🍽️ As Christians, we are no longer bound by the Levitical diet, but we can still learn from its principles. We should strive to honor God with our bodies and be mindful of what we consume.3. Levitical Diet Guidelines: What Foods are Permitted and Prohibited?Levitical diet guidelines are based on the laws of the Old Testament. These laws dictate which foods are permitted and which are prohibited. Permitted foods include animals that have cloven hooves and chew their cud, such as cows and sheep. Prohibited foods include animals that do not have cloven hooves or do not chew their cud, such as pigs and camels. Seafood is allowed if it has fins and scales, such as salmon and tuna. Shellfish, like shrimp and lobster, are prohibited. Additionally, Levitical laws prohibit the consumption of blood and the fat of animals. Meat must be drained of blood and all fat must be removed before cooking and eating. Other prohibited foods include insects, birds of prey, and animals that have died of natural causes or were killed by other animals. Levitical laws also prohibit the mixing of meat and dairy products. This means that meat and dairy cannot be cooked or consumed together. While these guidelines were specific to the Jewish community, some people still follow them today for religious or health reasons. However, many modern Jews do not strictly adhere to these dietary laws. 🍔🚫🐖🦐🚫🥛🍗🚫🐄🐑✅🐟🦞🚫🦅🐜🚫🐕🐈🚫🍦🍔4. The Health Benefits of Following the Levitical DietFollowing the Levitical Diet has numerous health benefits: Lower Cholesterol: The diet is low in saturated fats, which can help reduce cholesterol levels. Weight Loss: The diet emphasizes whole, unprocessed foods that can aid in weight loss. Improved Digestion: The diet includes high-fiber foods, which can improve digestion and prevent constipation. Reduced Inflammation: The diet includes anti-inflammatory foods, which can reduce inflammation in the body. Better Blood Sugar Control: The diet includes low-glycemic index foods, which can help regulate blood sugar levels. Additionally, the Levitical Diet promotes a balanced and varied diet, which can provide the body with essential nutrients and vitamins. Overall, following the Levitical Diet can lead to a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. 🥑🍎🥦5. How to Incorporate Levitical Diet Principles into Your Modern DietLevitical diet principles can be incorporated into a modern diet for a healthier lifestyle. Here are some tips: Choose whole, unprocessed foods Avoid mixing meat and dairy Include plenty of fruits and vegetables Choose grains like quinoa and barley Avoid shellfish and pork By following these principles, you can reduce your risk of heart disease, cancer, and other health problems. Try new recipes that incorporate Levitical principles, like lentil soup or veggie stir-fry. When eating out, look for restaurants that offer Levitical-friendly options, like vegetarian dishes or fish. Remember to consult with a healthcare professional before making any major changes to your diet. 🍎🍆🐟 Incorporating Levitical diet principles into your modern diet can be a fun and healthy way to eat! 🥦🍇🍲6. Common Misconceptions about the Levitical Diet and Biblical Eating GuidelinesMany people believe that the Levitical diet is outdated and irrelevant to modern times. However, this is not true. The Levitical diet is based on principles of health and cleanliness. It promotes the consumption of whole foods and discourages the consumption of processed foods. It also emphasizes the importance of food safety and hygiene. Another common misconception is that the Levitical diet is too restrictive and difficult to follow. While it does exclude certain foods, such as pork and shellfish, there are still plenty of delicious and nutritious options available. The diet also allows for flexibility and moderation. It's not about perfection, but rather about making intentional choices that honor God and promote good health. Some people also believe that the Levitical diet is only relevant to Jews or Old Testament times. However, the principles of the Levitical diet are still applicable today. They promote overall health and well-being, regardless of one's religious beliefs. Additionally, the New Testament also emphasizes the importance of healthy eating habits. It's important to note that the Levitical diet is not a guarantee of perfect health or a substitute for medical care. However, following these guidelines can certainly contribute to a healthier lifestyle. It's also important to remember that everyone's dietary needs and preferences are different. Consulting with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian can provide personalized guidance. Overall, the Levitical diet and biblical eating guidelines offer valuable insights into healthy eating habits. By incorporating these principles into our diets, we can honor God and take care of our bodies. It's not about legalism or perfection, but rather about making intentional choices that promote health and well-being. 🍎🥦🥕🍇🥬🍓 7. The Spiritual Significance of the Levitical Diet in Biblical ContextThe Levitical diet is a set of food laws outlined in the Bible. It is believed to have spiritual significance. The diet prohibited the consumption of certain animals, such as pigs and shellfish. It also required the separation of meat and dairy products. The purpose was to promote holiness and purity among the Israelites. Some scholars believe that the Levitical diet was a way to distinguish the Israelites from other nations. It was a way to maintain their identity as God's chosen people. It also served as a reminder of their covenant with God. Following the diet was a way to show obedience and faithfulness to God. Today, some people still follow the Levitical diet for spiritual reasons. They believe that it promotes physical and spiritual purity. It is also seen as a way to honor God and show gratitude for His blessings. However, others argue that the diet is no longer necessary for Christians. Regardless of one's beliefs, the Levitical diet serves as a reminder of the importance of obedience and faithfulness to God. 🍎🐄🐓🐟🌽 In conclusion, the Levitical diet is a set of biblical eating guidelines that emphasizes the importance of eating clean and healthy foods. By following these guidelines, one can maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid diseases. Adopting the Levitical diet can be challenging, but it is worth it in the long run. It is a great way to honor God by taking care of our bodies, which are the temples of the Holy Spirit. 🙏 Remember, the Levitical diet is not just a set of rules, but a way of life. It is a reminder that what we eat affects our physical and spiritual well-being. So, let's strive to eat clean and healthy foods, and honor God with our bodies. 👍 https://fastdiet.net/levitical-diet-biblical-eating-guidelines/?_unique_id=648bcb73bf4f8

Be bold, be courageous, say grace. This summer I tried to be more aware of saying grace. I said it for every meal and when I went out to eat. In doing this, I realized that I was actually kind of embarrassed to say it in public. I was trying to hide making the sign of the cross and muffling my blessing under my breath. Do any of you ever feel like this? Do any of you ever feel embarrassed to share your faith in public? As I started to say grace more and more often, the embarrassment subsided. It’s not completely gone, but it has decreased greatly. It’s important to say grace for every meal. It reminds us of who gave us the sustenance in front of us, thanks God for it, and asks Him to bless it for us. Have you ever been embarrassed to show your faith? #catholic #cc #catholicchurch #christian #catholicchristian #christianity#faith #religion #catholicwoman #Jesus #God #food #foodandfaith #lilliandora_blog #catholicreligion #catholiconline #catholicinstagram #christianinstagram #bible #catechism #catholicism #romancatholic #catholicbeliefs #inspire #grace #thanksgiving #gracebeforemeals #bold #courageous (at Long Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnwMzvynsoy/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1peuy81s19wyy

Week 1 completed after rituxan and it has been extremely successful and effective ❤🙌. Next Thursday the 27th makes round 2. Tonight was an awesome time of pasta and prayer. So many miracles and breakthroughs and hope 🔥👍. Have God ideas, not good ideas. Seek God for a strategy and stay resilient! When God is silent, hold on to his promises and as you praise him it will usher you into his presence. So good. 🥖🍝🍓🍍🍉 #restoration #god #rituxan #miracles #breakthrough #prayerispowerful #thursday #chemo #fwd #resilient #strategy #blessed #faith #healed #faithfamily #promises #internationalfamily #unity #jesus #foodandfaith (at Lake City, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/By9R0bfhkMxnovk4n5nxkLQP9c3FaP_3AkEiqo0/?igshid=zxhlf97ei7o6

"Food and Faith: A Theology of Eating"
The earth’s ecosystems are in a state of early and accelerating collapse because humankind has become so decoupled from nature, we disregard, dishonor, and even actively brutalize the earth and its resources. #NormanWirzba #FoodandFaith
Food and Faith: A Theology of Eating, by Norman Wirzba From preface to epilogue, this is one of the denser books I have read. The author employed a cyclical, layering style, much like the spiral in a conch shell, to revisit main themes from many angles and depths. I appreciated the effect, in the end, as the author laid the groundwork then built from the loam up concepts he wanted the reader to…

Virtue #2: Gentle and kind. Gentleness and kindness can go a long way in showing people Christ’s love and warmth. Practicing these virtues also gave me more insight into Mary’s gentle and kind nature. ❤️❤️❤️ Kindness can be shown so many little and beautiful ways, such as opening the door open for the person after you or smiling at someone walking down the street. 😊 It can also be incredibly difficult when faced with adversity or when we encounter someone we’re not too fond of. 😔 Either way, kindness is essential in spreading the joy of Christ and, in being Christian, it is essential that we live out this joy through our thoughts, words, and actions. 🌞😄❤️ How do you show gentleness and kindness? . . . #catholic #cc #catholicchurch #christian #catholicchristian #christianity #faith #religion #catholicwoman #Jesus #God #food #foodandfaith #lilliandora_blog #catholicreligion #catholiconline #catholicinstagram #christianinstagram #bible #catechism #catholicism #romancatholic #catholicbeliefs #inspire #virtue #femininity #catholicwomanhood #virtuechallenge #christianwoman #catholicfeminist (at Long Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BneKaRWgQz0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1mb0cvhzqnq3y

Confession time: I once (and by once I mean many times) ate this as a cheesy soup. This is literally one of my favorite recipes ever. It’s so delicious and goes perfectly on top of everything! I drown my chips and enchiladas in it and am thinking of putting it on the next piece of salmon I have currently. It’s the perfect dip for any occasion. I’m obsessed with this recipe and I hope you will be too! ⠀ ⠀ What’s your food confession? ⠀ ⠀ #foodgawker #food52 #foodandwine #thefeedfeed #foodblogfeed #food #faith #healthyfood #foodandfaith #pcos #kitchn #tastingtable #eater #cookserious #spoonforkbacon #lilliandora_blog #recipes #meals #foodrecipe⠀ ⠀ (at Long Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnZe71VgTeC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rfng0d3bdd3n

Lemon and oat banana bread! A twist on a classic recipe! A elot of times, I feel that food is black and white. I often see foods as healthy or not healthy for you instead of for nourishment and enjoyment. I also feel pressure for my diet to be perfect because I’m becoming a registered dietitian. I feel that to give people any kind of diet advice, I have to have the perfect diet and follow it to a T. I struggle with this a lot, but am trying to work on it. When I made this banana bread, it was hard for me to not feel guilty, but in thinking about it more, I see how it fits into being nourishing and enjoyable. When we eat with discipline, foods like this can fulfill those two purposes. It is a treat and mostly pleasurable while delivering some nutrients (potassium, fiber, etc...). I still struggle with this, but after practicing how to eat with discipline, I ate this banana bread and shared it with my friends with a little less guilt. Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to eat it guilt-free. #foodgawker #food52 #foodandwine #thefeedfeed #foodblogfeed #food #faith #healthyfood #foodandfaith #pcos #kitchn #tastingtable #eater #cookserious #spoonforkbacon #lilliandora_blog #recipes #meals #foodrecipe (at Long Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnXZUTogSNu/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1f7jrmawlzun2
