i think its weird that i have to make this disclaimer but the internet is crazy so wtvr,, anyway,,
if i say i dont like something, that doesnt mean "that thing is bad and nobody should post it.."
i swear literally every time i even mention that i dislike something, people will go "wow does that mean u fucking hate me cuz i post that thing? ur a fucking stupid bitch and all ur opinions r wrong" LIKE ?? er.. no. just because i say i dont like certain characterizations of certain characters (the saiki k fandom is CRAZY about this cuz i can state an opinion on literally any character and a group of people will still go 'well only we're allowed to post our opinions about them because we're always right!1!1!'), or certain ship tropes (mentioned my hatred of toxic yaoi maybe once or twice on here months ago and people STILL get mad at me as if i said toxic yaoi lovers r evil or something), or certain ships, or WHATEVER, does not mean that i HATE the people who are posting them or that i think they shouldnt post them at all, NO, im just posting about my personal tastes on my personal blog and it would be extremely weird and hypocritical if i decided that i was the ONLY person that was allowed to do that,,
i think the only reason people assume that is because there are a lot of other people on here who ARE like that, and a lot of people toe the line between posting that they dont like something and posting that they think everyone who likes that thing is stupid, annoying, and wrong,, so i guess all i can say is, sorry for whatever made you make these assumptions but they arent true about me so plz leave me alone ʘ‿ʘ ur doing the same thing to me that ur accusing me of but i didnt do it in the first place so ur just actively being a dick for no reason
#crazy that the mindset some people on here have is that theyre the only ones allowed to post their opinions#ive repeated this a lot on this blog but i rlly think people forget that the person on the other side of the screen is in fact a person#if ur harassing people and publicly making fun of them then ur just as bad as any real life bully#that shit isnt as funny or harmless as u like to pretend it is#not once have i ever targetted anyone or went on someones blog to harass them over my opinion#yet people think its fine to do the same to me and treat it as if its like. revenge or something#like ? me saying 'i dont like toxic yaoi' is not equivalent to someone going on someone elses page and going 'how tf do u like toxic yaoi'#I DONT CARE !! all ive ever done is sit in my own little bubble and had opinions and that makes people mad#honestly though the people who will publicly talk and post abt it are significantly meaner#and i want to act like im not bothered by it because i know most of them r just angry that someone has a different opinion#and they want all their followers to bandwagon off of them (idk why maybe for validation or whatever-same reasons anyone would bully)#but seriously if u actually do think that something i said was out of line and crossed thise boundaries- just fucking tell me ?#im a person bro. ur solution to disagreeing with me shouldnt be 'lol im gonna post abt this and make everyone harass them'#have a conversation with me dude i dont bite ? if u cant talk to me like a person then just dont fucking say anything wtf#its so cowardly to be like 'well no i didnt wanna say anything to u cuz i didnt wanna be rude.. so instead i publicly made fun of u!'#LIKE WHATTTT STOPPPPP </3333#ok anyway this post wasnt supposed to get THAT serious.#MY POINT IS just be considerate of other people and dont base ur hatred off of assumptions#ur deflecting the blame onto someone else because u dont want to admit that ur just a fucking bully lol#being inconsiderate on here is something ive also been guilty of back when i first joined the fandom and was clueless#but grown ass adults who have been on here way longer r still doing that shit which is crazy#and i cant say anything because they have so much leverage over me and idk if its on purpose or if they dont even realize#ok im putting fandom tags cuz i want people to see this sorry. this is my one post thats actually targetted but its at a lot of people#so if u look at this and think 'hey i do that' pls evaluate urself<3#i mean its also targetted at everyone who does this anonomously so i dont know who it is OKOK IM DONE BYE SORRY HOPE THIS IS UNDERSTANDABLE#watch nobody read this fr#saiki k#tdlosk#the disastrous life of saiki k.#meows post

#but i will say i've been taking steps#deleted reddit off my phone bc that place is a time sink and i'm weary of the site's culture#only ever come on here to throw some random posts into the void and look at a few posts from the people i followed back when i had just the#main blog. and also to occasionally dm ppl on this side blog who i feel like care about me as like a person and not just a 'content creator'#and shit poster. and i'm again committing to finishing this last fanfic and then stopping posting fic online bc yeah i like attention#and validation and that's a huge weakness to have esp if you have niche interests#like i keep thinking if i were a character in a greek tragedy my fatal flaw would be my desire for attention#and oh yes working on my attachment style and working with my therapist#have improved enough that when i flipped thru my journal entries this year i was like 'bbg no' but not enough to not suffer psychic damage#when seeing said entries instead of extending selr compassion#anyway#personal

Working on getting a patreon pack up and ready right now, but real quick: I'm a big fan of "Share it! reblog! tell the new style of algorithm internet shit to suck it!", but you might look around and be like "...But you never reblog much of anything?" I do though lol. This is largely my art blog, and while I'll reblog something here from time to time despite wanting to keep it mostly concise, I have like three other blogs on this same account. One of those blogs in particular I reblog to so much that I finally had to make myself add things to my queue instead of just reblogging on the spot. It was (a lot). It's like collecting pins, action figures, cards, (or in my case, architectural photography, landscapes and monster art)... I'm tacking them all up on display so that I can look at them, and make anyone else who visits look at them as well.
#shut up pu#this is technically a side blog#pupuroon is my main blog and that's probably obvious when I reply and you get an answer from that blog instead#but tumbo lets you make multiple accounts on the same email account#so I have this as my art blog#and others I have for sharing/collecting#don't really use pupuroon at all anymore though and I would make this one my main if I could#alas! maybe someday#but if you have an art blog and want to keep it more Just for your Art#just make another account and link to it/share it#people actually quite enjoy following curator blogs#they're helpful to find people to follow as well to just get a constant stream of “hey we like the same kinda stuff”

#rabbit rages#genocide deniers begone!#I don’t wanna see the cult that goes to Holocaust denial events#and blame Jewish people for the Shoah#or tankies that deny atrocities at the hands of the USSR#keep that vile shit off my dash#on one hand: it’s extremely disheartening#that so many people I followed for queer content#are now suddenly RBing from people with a long history of antisemitism#and deny genocide#on the other hand: wow does it feel good taking the trash out#anyways I’m posting this here on main instead of my Jumblr side blog#I think my rant about this deserves to be on main

Sigeumchi-Namul/Korean-seasoned Spinach is so damn good and I really need to just start making some and leaving it in the fridge to eat through the week, cause it's so low-spoon and keeps well and is delicious cold~
Just blanch some spinach (boil for 30s-1m minutes then rinse in ice cold water or run under cold water tap), press the excess water out of it (either squeeze it with your hands or find some good weight to press it with. I'm thinking leave the spinch in a strainer in the sink and put a glass bowl full of water on top of it but i haven't tried yet). You might want to bunch it into a cube and chop it a few times (the amount of chops depending on how big a batch you've cooked).
Then season it with soy sauce (or coconut aminos and maybe add salt if soy-free), toasted sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, minced garlic, chopped green onion, and, optionally, add some gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) or silgochu (shredded Korean red pepper) if you want some heat. Even regular black pepper is good in it if you don't like the spicy pepper heat.
I haven't tried, but it probably works well with frozen spinach too, just thaw it according to directions and then season as above. Probably takes longer to thaw than cook, but easier on clean up that way.
The amount of seasoning will depend on how big a batch you make, but start low then add more. Sesame oil is strongly flavored so start with a tsp. Maybe about .25 more soy sauce than sesame oil, but your taste will vary. It should taste nutty from the sesame oil and a bit salty.
#low spoon recipe#low spoon cooking#I was just reminded of this dish and then realized the low spoon cooking blogs i was following haven't posted in a long time so...#Putting it here instead of submitting it lol#And ffs no teenage white girls telling me I'm calling Korean food wrong like the one that said kimchi can only be cabbage PLEASE#I'm still annoyed with them. The caucasity of it all#(Yeah i know I'm white too but my husband is Korean my MIL worked at a traditional restaurant owned by her sister in seoul)#(If she says cucumber kimchi is kimchi then it's fucking kimchi. You can buy radish kimchi at uwajimaya. Kimchi just means pickled veg)#(I know this recipe isn't for kimchi but just in case they try to say the same thing about namul... which can be many different veg not jus#spinach... namul is just a type of seasoned veg banchan/side dish. I think it was watercress namul last time we visited her)#(She's made it out of wild greens she's picked before it was one of the first things i ever ate that she made and it was so damn good)#(I bet you could make it out of like. Dandelion greens if you wanted.)

tumblr should make a feature that gives you a pop up warning when you’re about to follow a blog you’ve previously followed and then unfollowed multiple times imo
#this is mostly a joke I don’t expect them to do this#but also I would genuinely benefit from this#I will see a blog that looks somewhat familiar and go huh I thought I followed you?#and then two days later see a nasty take and go. ah. right#like. I can’t keep track of which people I unfollowed for takes that didn’t feel block worthy#vs people who just look like other people I follow#or people who I see reblogged a lot on my dash#or people who are side blogs of people I follow#or just ‘I know I followed you but maybe tumblr accidentally made me unfollow?’#this is also why I explicitly ask people to hard block me instead of soft block me btw bc I will Not realize I am being softblocked#and may just keep coming back#but yeah guess what happened again#I may just also start hardblocking people I guess so that I see that they’re blocked#when I try to follow#but a lot of the time this is over stuff that isn’t a huge deal I just don’t want to see it#and I don’t actually care if that person interacts with me#456 words

@staff reqs/ideas in tags? Also honestly doing some data collection and idea fielding might not be the worst idea. Throw out some surveys or polls (lol) maybe and get what people like, dislike, use, don't use (though the latter hopefully y'all have click metrics for).
Idk, I feel like there's a way to solve this without devolving into every other platform. I avoid algos myself, it's why I'm here, and I'm a SWE. It's organic here, and I can breathe.
On the complete other side, open source social sounds like a trip and a fantastic idea from my perspective, lolol. (Idk how easy, very different from what I work with)
If y'all do open source people can add/make shit and really lean into the "customizable" brand. You could even market that a little. A build kit, premade stuff, etc.
I think things use to be more customizable anyway. Like lean into yee old neigh myspace level stuff, I bet people would lose their minds (in a good way) with like cool blog wallpaper and stuff. Really hone in on that individuality.
I could go on. Yes and your site's current direction friends, and don't make it into something it's not, which everyone else seems to be dying doing anyway. That's what I'd say.
Tumblr’s Core Product Strategy
Here at Tumblr, we’ve been working hard on reorganizing how we work in a bid to gain more users. A larger user base means a more sustainable company, and means we get to stick around and do this thing with you all a bit longer. What follows is the strategy we're using to accomplish the goal of user growth. The @labs group has published a bit already, but this is bigger. We’re publishing it publicly for the first time, in an effort to work more transparently with all of you in the Tumblr community. This strategy provides guidance amid limited resources, allowing our teams to focus on specific key areas to ensure Tumblr’s future.
The Diagnosis
In order for Tumblr to grow, we need to fix the core experience that makes Tumblr a useful place for users. The underlying problem is that Tumblr is not easy to use. Historically, we have expected users to curate their feeds and lean into curating their experience. But this expectation introduces friction to the user experience and only serves a small portion of our audience.
Tumblr’s competitive advantage lies in its unique content and vibrant communities. As the forerunner of internet culture, Tumblr encompasses a wide range of interests, such as entertainment, art, gaming, fandom, fashion, and music. People come to Tumblr to immerse themselves in this culture, making it essential for us to ensure a seamless connection between people and content.
To guarantee Tumblr’s continued success, we’ve got to prioritize fostering that seamless connection between people and content. This involves attracting and retaining new users and creators, nurturing their growth, and encouraging frequent engagement with the platform.
Our Guiding Principles
To enhance Tumblr’s usability, we must address these core guiding principles.
Expand the ways new users can discover and sign up for Tumblr.
Provide high-quality content with every app launch.
Facilitate easier user participation in conversations.
Retain and grow our creator base.
Create patterns that encourage users to keep returning to Tumblr.
Improve the platform’s performance, stability, and quality.
Below is a deep dive into each of these principles.
Principle 1: Expand the ways new users can discover and sign up for Tumblr.
Tumblr has a “top of the funnel” issue in converting non-users into engaged logged-in users. We also have not invested in industry standard SEO practices to ensure a robust top of the funnel. The referral traffic that we do get from external sources is dispersed across different pages with inconsistent user experiences, which results in a missed opportunity to convert these users into regular Tumblr users. For example, users from search engines often land on pages within the blog network and blog view—where there isn’t much of a reason to sign up.
We need to experiment with logged-out tumblr.com to ensure we are capturing the highest potential conversion rate for visitors into sign-ups and log-ins. We might want to explore showing the potential future user the full breadth of content that Tumblr has to offer on our logged-out pages. We want people to be able to easily understand the potential behind Tumblr without having to navigate multiple tabs and pages to figure it out. Our current logged-out explore page does very little to help users understand “what is Tumblr.” which is a missed opportunity to get people excited about joining the site.
Actions & Next Steps
Improving Tumblr’s search engine optimization (SEO) practices to be in line with industry standards.
Experiment with logged out tumblr.com to achieve the highest conversion rate for sign-ups and log-ins, explore ways for visitors to “get” Tumblr and entice them to sign up.
Principle 2: Provide high-quality content with every app launch.
We need to ensure the highest quality user experience by presenting fresh and relevant content tailored to the user’s diverse interests during each session. If the user has a bad content experience, the fault lies with the product.
The default position should always be that the user does not know how to navigate the application. Additionally, we need to ensure that when people search for content related to their interests, it is easily accessible without any confusing limitations or unexpected roadblocks in their journey.
Being a 15-year-old brand is tough because the brand carries the baggage of a person’s preconceived impressions of Tumblr. On average, a user only sees 25 posts per session, so the first 25 posts have to convey the value of Tumblr: it is a vibrant community with lots of untapped potential. We never want to leave the user believing that Tumblr is a place that is stale and not relevant.
Actions & Next Steps
Deliver great content each time the app is opened.
Make it easier for users to understand where the vibrant communities on Tumblr are.
Improve our algorithmic ranking capabilities across all feeds.
Principle 3: Facilitate easier user participation in conversations.
Part of Tumblr’s charm lies in its capacity to showcase the evolution of conversations and the clever remarks found within reblog chains and replies. Engaging in these discussions should be enjoyable and effortless.
Unfortunately, the current way that conversations work on Tumblr across replies and reblogs is confusing for new users. The limitations around engaging with individual reblogs, replies only applying to the original post, and the inability to easily follow threaded conversations make it difficult for users to join the conversation.
Actions & Next Steps
Address the confusion within replies and reblogs.
Improve the conversational posting features around replies and reblogs.
Allow engagements on individual replies and reblogs.
Make it easier for users to follow the various conversation paths within a reblog thread.
Remove clutter in the conversation by collapsing reblog threads.
Explore the feasibility of removing duplicate reblogs within a user’s Following feed.
Principle 4: Retain and grow our creator base.
Creators are essential to the Tumblr community. However, we haven’t always had a consistent and coordinated effort around retaining, nurturing, and growing our creator base.
Being a new creator on Tumblr can be intimidating, with a high likelihood of leaving or disappointment upon sharing creations without receiving engagement or feedback. We need to ensure that we have the expected creator tools and foster the rewarding feedback loops that keep creators around and enable them to thrive.
The lack of feedback stems from the outdated decision to only show content from followed blogs on the main dashboard feed (“Following”), perpetuating a cycle where popular blogs continue to gain more visibility at the expense of helping new creators. To address this, we need to prioritize supporting and nurturing the growth of new creators on the platform.
It is also imperative that creators, like everyone on Tumblr, feel safe and in control of their experience. Whether it be an ask from the community or engagement on a post, being successful on Tumblr should never feel like a punishing experience.
Actions & Next Steps
Get creators’ new content in front of people who are interested in it.
Improve the feedback loop for creators, incentivizing them to continue posting.
Build mechanisms to protect creators from being spammed by notifications when they go viral.
Expand ways to co-create content, such as by adding the capability to embed Tumblr links in posts.
Principle 5: Create patterns that encourage users to keep returning to Tumblr.
Push notifications and emails are essential tools to increase user engagement, improve user retention, and facilitate content discovery. Our strategy of reaching out to you, the user, should be well-coordinated across product, commercial, and marketing teams.
Our messaging strategy needs to be personalized and adapt to a user’s shifting interests. Our messages should keep users in the know on the latest activity in their community, as well as keeping Tumblr top of mind as the place to go for witty takes and remixes of the latest shows and real-life events.
Most importantly, our messages should be thoughtful and should never come across as spammy.
Actions & Next Steps
Conduct an audit of our messaging strategy.
Address the issue of notifications getting too noisy; throttle, collapse or mute notifications where necessary.
Identify opportunities for personalization within our email messages.
Test what the right daily push notification limit is.
Send emails when a user has push notifications switched off.
Principle 6: Performance, stability and quality.
The stability and performance of our mobile apps have declined. There is a large backlog of production issues, with more bugs created than resolved over the last 300 days. If this continues, roughly one new unresolved production issue will be created every two days. Apps and backend systems that work well and don't crash are the foundation of a great Tumblr experience. Improving performance, stability, and quality will help us achieve sustainable operations for Tumblr.
Improve performance and stability: deliver crash-free, responsive, and fast-loading apps on Android, iOS, and web.
Improve quality: deliver the highest quality Tumblr experience to our users.
Move faster: provide APIs and services to unblock core product initiatives and launch new features coming out of Labs.
Conclusion
Our mission has always been to empower the world’s creators. We are wholly committed to ensuring Tumblr evolves in a way that supports our current users while improving areas that attract new creators, artists, and users. You deserve a digital home that works for you. You deserve the best tools and features to connect with your communities on a platform that prioritizes the easy discoverability of high-quality content. This is an invigorating time for Tumblr, and we couldn’t be more excited about our current strategy.
#number 4 seems like a really important one that's been struggling for a while#also i think something like randomly featured or recommended tags would go a long way rather than algos#didn't recommended tags use to be a thing?#with like art in the background of the tags. you could even use tags that related users follow to build those reqs#also like post mixes need some work in terms of your new stuff. algos get min-maxed#if you force stuff instead of recommend you're gunna probably get pitchforks#you've already got the secondary page that no one looks at#honestly probably paring down on the several weird side things and coming up with a better way to broadcast fandoms and tags to circulate#content more will do more good#id say blog reqs from mutual post tags too?#which yall sort of do already but the imps a lil underwhelming with the reqed posts#side note: recommended tags and blogs have both been a thing before and don't directly shove content towards people if made unintrusive#which is entirely possible#rant >.>#oh! one last note y'all could try to do something special with tags that fit certain niches like “my art” lol

a very funny side effect of being attacked by sonicbrain since the third movie came out is that i keep accidentally reading sai as sonic adventure 1
#only really happens when ppl type it out in all caps like SAI but it's always a whiplash for a sec#the funny thing is i didn't even care for the third movie as much as the first 2 tbh. i had fun but i was a lil disappointed with it#so like it is directly that movie's fault that my brain has gotten stuck halfway to Sonic Mode but the movie isn't even in the sonicbrain#it's like it forgot to activate fully so instead of drawing fanart or anything there's just been a hedgehog rotating in my head for a month#not really doing anything specific. just kinda hanging out#one day i'll grow the balls to start putting these posts on my main blog i swear lmao#it's just been reblogs over there since like 2018 i dont know if its even possible to post things on it anymore#what if i lose all 20 of my followers over there. what if the 200 bots don't like my posts :(#(side note i once checked my main's follower count & it had just breached 1k for some reason & now after a bot purge it is 297)#(which is honestly just really really really funny)
