This is a panorama showing the end of the Lake Sørvágsvatn (or Lake Leitisvatn) and Bøsdalafossur waterfall. The famous lake, also known as the "Lake Above the Ocean" or "Floating Lake", is one of the top natural sights in Faroe Islands. And although, positioned closely to the ocean with only 38 m above sea level, it is prevented from fully draining into the ocean by the greater height of the surrounding cliff. Bøsdalafossur is the waterfall flowing from the lake into the Atlantic Ocean.

Nearby is Trælanípa cliff which translates into Slave Cliff. It is said that, in the Viking Age, slaves who were unable to work were pushed into the ocean from this 142 meters tall vertical rock. Standing on top of this cliff will make the lake look as if it floats above the North Atlantic ocean.

The lake is situated on the same island as the airport, Vágar Island, so it's possible to see it from the airplane just before landing into Faroe Islands.

Magic on day four in the Faroes

The rains seems to have left, leaving a beautiful day ahead for me to explore. I decide to head on over to Tjornuvik, the little village I was attempting to hike to on my second day here. just had a bizarre dipnpip dream where dan uploaded a video of him proposing to phil but dan filmed the entire thing himself (like, holding the camera) so the video was from his perspective and the camera was WAY too close to phil’s face the entire time?? the video was called “how to impress people with only 3 coins” and for some reason his big proposal speech involved him throwing 3 different american pennies off a dock? then the next day phil uploaded a scripted funny skit video where their characters were husbands so the phandom was having Major Discourse over if dans video was a skit too because it was Such A Bad Proposal and dipnpip had to be like “yall plz we were serious”
