and the elite 4
aaron's team stays virtually the same but he adds a kleavor to represent hisuian pokemon, it's out of order so that it kinda forms a rainbow because that's very chic
bertha just has to add ursaluna to her team to represent hisui because her team's very iconic, she has 2 ace pokemon which is very fashion and i like golem even though it overlaps with rhyperior
flint is of course a little bit of an international incident so we add hisuian arcanine for the hisuian pokemon representation and ninetales replacing flareon because ninetales is available in pla and his greatgreatgreatgreatgrandmother has a fox pokemon as her ace so there's a concept
lucian gets a lot of changes in comparison to his platinum team because he has a mr mime in all of his teams and that's just not the vision for him so girafarig from dp is back because it's cute and unique and hisuian braviary gets added to his team since their soft purple serves are kinda matching
gallade is weird as lucian's ace pokemon i get the decision so that it gets featured somewhere but it feels more like a darach ace than a lucian ace

i've been grinding the E4 in BDSP to get champion stickers + sinnoh champ ribbons on sentimental pokemon, so i've been trying to figure out how to quickly and easily take out all 5 opponents with the least number of pokemon- so far, i'm happy with
Gyarados (holding Shell Bell)- can Dragon Dance and then sweep Aaron, Bertha, and Will with Waterfall, Ice Fang and Crunch
Clefable (holding Quick Claw)- can Minimize + Calm Mind a bunch against Spiritomb and then sweep the rest of Cynthia's team with Moonblast (her lucario has a focus sash and meteor mash, but if i minimize enough it will usually miss, and i can still pull through with gyarados if clefable gets ko'd)
but Flint is fucking me up bad. my other two slots (the last ones are for whoever i am putting the ribbons on) are Flygon and (speed boost) Blaziken, which can be helpful but i think should probably be replaced- preferably with a single Pokemon so i can bring an additional Guy Who Needs Ribbon
Flint opens with a drought Ninetales, so i usually use Flygon and earthquake it. then he switches to Arcanine, which has intimidate + play rough, and my Flygon is specced into pure attack so i have to switch. so i just kind of muddle through the rest of his team with Blaziken and Clefable until the sun wears off. but his Magmortar has psychic and thunderbolt (very bad for blaziken and gyarados), his Rapidash has hypnosis and is fast as shit (obnoxious, hits you like a truck with sun boosted flare blitz when you're healing off the hypnosis). his houndoom hasn't really been an issue but i suspect it knows thunder fang
my gyarados can take like 5 solar beams before fainting and that's what ninetales wants to kill it with, so maybe i could try boosting it up like 4 times with dragon dance, and then see if i can sweep through the sun anyway? oh wait his infernape has a focus sash + thunder punch. ughhhhhh AND his arcanine has extremespeed!!!! FUCK this guy!!!!!
#long post#i need a text post tag#pokemon#yes i'm fighting him currently. my gyarados loves me so she held on with 1 hp from thunder punch. only to get intimidated + ko'd by arcanin#my current run has dropped the blaziken because i realized i was barely using it. maybe flygon can hold up on its own...#although i had to sacrifice gyarados to arcanine; and infernape only didn't kill her due to luck#i'm also trying to not have to buy 1000 healing items on each run through#on a good run i only need to use a couple max potions; a couple leppa berries; and maybe a revive#i found out the hard way though that if i forget to dragon dance against bertha's whiscash and just KO it with waterfall; gyarados WILL die

Fallen Fire Ch 4 Snippet
So yeah, know it's been a long while, but. Managed to get a wee bit of writing done for Fallen Fire - and figured I'd go ahead and share it. It's nowhere near a complete chapter, but a snippet is better than nothing. With any luck, we'll get more progress made on bigger projects, like PLA:MD and the Nobility AU sooner than later. Maybe seeing how you all react to this will help me get going agiain, eheh. Snippet under the break, enjoy! [P.S. quite tired, I'll need to fix up tags later or something.]
It had been about a week since Palina’s arrival in this new world, and already she felt overwhelmed with everything that was… different. ((something something it’s more confusing than being an Arcanine now))
For example, this… beast of metal and leather Basalt had used to take her and “Flint” from the hospital. He called it a “kar”, and it was. Umm. “Fast” was the best word she had to describe it?
The youngling was staring out the side, watching as metal and concrete zipped by. Distortion, he’d probably stick his head out if it wasn’t for the window. Truth be told, Palina was close to doing the same herself… *nyoom* If it wasn’t for the multitude of other metal beasts passing by along either side. It was almost at random rates, and while they were never that close it still made the (ex-?)Warden worry. “M-M’Lor-err, Basalt… Is there a reason we’re going like this?”
“Well, I don’t live that close to the hospital, and more importantly- ‘scuse me-” Both newcomers yelped - one in youthful joy, one in mature fright - as the former Noble spun the wheel in front of him one way and then another, their container deftly swerving around the stopped vehicle ahead of them. (...Palina now saw the value of these “seatbelt” things.) “-Sorry about that, people don’t normally stop in the middle of the road like that. But yeah, as I was saying - It’s honestly a bit more convenient to go by car. Lets you save your energy for later… Not to mention we can take more stuff with us this way. Like that wagon you’d use to help bring things back from the Settlement.”
“Oh.” Those…honestly were good reasons. *nyoom* And she suspected there was another-
“Plus, everyone else uses ‘em, right Daddy?”
A chuckle at his son’s antics preceded the elder male’s response. “That’s another good point, son. We could run home along the side of the road, but it’d be rude for everyone who isn’t as fast as we are.” Mental note: Look into how fast she was later. “As to why we don’t go on the road itself…” A wince. “Let’s just say there’s a reason I’m not letting Palina behind the whe-ACH!”
*SCRREEEEEEEEEEEECH!*
(Yet again,) Palina was yanked back by the cloth belt, only this time she was also reeling from an acrid smoky scent. Shaking her head real fast to clear the stars, the new Arcanine looked forwards - and let her jaw drop.
The sight before her eyes was horrific. Two metal monsters crumlped together, more with flashing lights pulling around them. People hauled injured onto stretchers, checking vitals and injuries while slipping them into the cross-marked white “kars”. It was like an Alpha attack combined with a wagon crash, all tied together with a helping of wailing noise. “...Yeah, umm. Cars aren’t the easiest thing to use.” A small chuckle .”Took me at least a few months to be allowed to drive myself…”
“...That’s what can happen when two of these ‘kars’ collide?”
“Yep. Real nasty… I’ve been told these things are designed with safety in mind now, but in all due honesty I can’t see the difference.”
“Daddy? I can’t see…”
“Trust me kiddo. You don’t want to.”

FLINT FLINT FLINT
Ninetales, Rapidash, and Torkoal, wow! That is very scary! This battle is very scary! The most uncertain I have been!
Welp.
I think I'm pretty much prepared for Flint, except for this goddamn Sash Torkoal lead. If Torkoal sets up Stealth Rocks, it's going to be really bad for my prep. I AM giving Drifblim free Hurricanes by setting up Rain Dance, but like, I have Eirin, and if Rocks aren't up, I have Yuuma who will definitely be able to take one. I am terrified of this battle but lets give it a try.
The worst case scenario has come to pass. I'll be on my fuckin toes in this battle.
No rocks have gone up! The rain has been set! Torkoal just used a pathetic Solar Beam and Remilia killed with two EQs! We are cruising!
EXACTLY who I wanted to see. I went Eirin and set up Rocks, as for some reason, Typhlosion ALSO decided to go for Solar Beam. Flint... you know Gligar is part Flying type, right? It's not actually... weak to grass, fam.
Anyways, this let me go back into Remilia and set up a Swords Dance, so now I can kill anything that comes in that isn't called Drifblim! It's super
Hehehe, u thought. I had Yuuma hold a Lum Berry so I could switch in on the Wisp here.
Lol wtf Drifblim lived even after Rocks damage. It's okay, we have Eirin who completely walls, I just thought Yuuma would do the job quicker.
For Arcanine,
It's just a matter of pivoting between Hina and Sukuna, constantly getting off Intimidates. Hell, I can probably run this thing out of Flare Blitz's and Leech Seed stall it, lmao.
Lol, I got tired of pivoting. Go Sukuna you fantastic little fish you.
CROSS EVO ARC - ELITE 4 SAGA
Okay sadly most of the Aaron fight was lost because Tumblr deleted my post as I was typing it. I had pictures documenting everything, I had plans typed out, etc etc. Whatever.
The summary is this: Aaron had 4 potential teams - most with special attacking leaads, we happened to get the one leading with Scyther, this one.
Eirin was our lead to handle most of Aaron's leads, but obviously she could not deal with Scyther, so we switched to Sukuna, who set up a layer of Spikes, and then got a lucky crit and killed Scyther with Gunk Shot. This brought in Yanmega who wanted to use Psychic, giving me a (free) switch-in to Eirin, who then set up Stealth Rock and beat down Yanmega with Toxic and Seismic Toss. This brought in Pinsir, who wanted to use Close Combat, so I went into Sekibanki who was immune, and killed the already hazard-weakened Pinsir with a Hidden Power Fire. THIS brought in Scizor, so I went back into Sukuna who Intimidated in, then because Scizor literally cannot touch her for more than she heals, I was able to set up two more layers of Spikes. I bring Scizor into the red with Waterfalls from Sukuna, then, Aaron heals.
On the turn Aaron heals, I switch into Hina, so that I can switch again into Sukuna to get another Intimidate.
Scizor down.
Three layers of Spikes and Rocks onto a Bug/Dragon Flygon... lol.
We switch in to an Earth Power (god damn Sekibanki is so useful) and now we can kill!
Checkmate.
One. Down.

Addition to the Immortal Nobles AU: The Nobles are all on par with Legendary Pokémon just in terms of pure stats. To put it in game terms, each Noble has an added 20 to each base stat, compared to their nonlegendary counterparts. As a result, their base stat total ranged from 600 (Lilligant) to 675 (Arcanine). In theory, this would make them as powerful as legendaries. In practice, since the Nobles don't have any sort of Legendary Domain, Legendary Pokémon are generally stronger. However, between their stats and battle prowess honed over centuries, they are able to match even gym-leader level trainers.
In fact, one of the requirements to become an elite four member in the Sinnoh region is to beat at least three Nobles in no-holds-barred battles. This is actually a challenge in three different parts. First is actually finding three Nobles. Other than Lilligant, the Nobles keep to themselves, with Wyrdeer and Sneasler being nigh-impossible to find. Sometimes its easier to just let the Nobles come to you. Second is convincing them to battle you. The challenge doesn't count otherwise, as the Nobles will refuse to give you whatever form of proof they give to trainers who best them fair and square. Third, of course, is beating them. This is very hard since, as said before, they are all very powerful and very experienced, and they will not hold back.
Fun fact: each of the current Elite Four faced the noble associated with their type, even if it wasn't always the best choice type-matchup-wise, along with the other two required Nobles. Aaron fought Lord Kleavor, Lady Lilligant, and Lady Basculegion; Bertha fought Lord Ursaluna, Lord Avalugg, and Lady Lilligant. Flint fought Lord Arcanine, Lady Lilligant, and Lord Braviary. Lucian fought Lady Lilligant, Lord Electrode, and Lord Wyrdeer (somehow).

I AM DONE WITH MY FINALS I'M FREEEEEE
Sorry I missed my Champion Stadium report last week! I was focused on my finals and studying them so I didn't do it until an hour before reset and decided it wasn't worth me making a full post about it.
Click “keep reading” to read more about my thoughts on my team comps and strategies I used.
First round: Lucian
Parameters: Physical Dmg. Reduction, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 1, No Status Conditions, Strength ↑ 1, Sync Buff ↑ 5, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 3, No Stat Reduction, Ally Healing ↓ 5, Power ↑ on Hit 1, Gradual Healing at Start, Strength ↑ 2, Ally Move Gauge Max -2, Strength ↑ 6
Team Comp: 5/5 Marley & Arcanine, 3/5 Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) & Giratina, 1/5 EX Lillie (Anniversary 2021) & Lunala with Critical Strike 2
Really a Cynthia-Lillie solo team, Marley is tacked on to provide some speed support.
Second round: Bertha
Parameters: Special Dmg. Reduction, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 1, No Status Conditions, Strength ↑ 1, Sync Buff ↑ 5, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 3, No Stat Reduction, Ally Healing ↓ 5, Power ↑ on Hit 1, Gradual Healing at Start, Strength ↑ 2, Ally Move Gauge Max -2, Strength ↑ 6
Team Comp: 5/5 Hop & Zamazenta with Vigilance, 3/5 Lillie (New Year's 2021) & Ribombee, 2/5 EX Steven & Mega Sandslash Critical Strike 2
I've never seen Leech Life do so much damage and heal so much until today. That actually surprised me.
Third round: Flint
Parameters: Special Dmg. Reduction, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 1, No Status Conditions, Strength ↑ 1, Sync Buff ↑ 5, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 3, Defense & Sp. Def ↑ 3, Ally Healing ↓ 5, Power ↑ on Hit 1, Gradual Healing at Start, Strength ↑ 2, Ally Move Gauge Max -2, Strength ↑ 6
On hindsight, I should've used Acerola or Anni Raihan for the Sandstorm boost but I picked this stage for the status drop parameter, and I'm going to stick with it!
Team Comp: 5/5 Roxanne & Probopass, 1/5 Professor Kukui & Midday Form Lyanroc, 5/5 EX Olivia & Midnight Form Lyanroc with Critical Strike 2
Fourth round: Aaron
Parameters: Special Dmg. Reduction, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 1, Defense & Sp. Def ↑ 1, Strength ↑ 1, Sync Buff ↑ 5, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 3, Defense & Sp. Def ↑ 3, Ally Healing ↓ 5, Power ↑ on Hit 1, Gradual Healing at Start, Strength ↑ 2, Ally Move Gauge Max -2, Strength ↑ 6
Team Comp: 1/5 Sonia & Yamper, 5/5 Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom with Head Start 1, 5/5 EX Silver & Ho-Oh with Critical Strike 2
In honor of Silver getting his EX, I used him in Champion Stadium for this week's fire weak stage instead of Red. On retrospect maybe I shouldn't have picked such a difficult Champion Stadium to have Silver make his debut in.
Final round: Cynthia
Parameters: Physical Dmg. Reduction, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 1, No Status Conditions, Strength ↑ 1, Sync Buff ↑ 5, Attack & Sp. Atk ↑ 3, Defense & Sp. Def ↑ 3 , Ally Healing ↓ 5, Power ↑ on Hit 1, Gradual Healing at Start, Strength ↑ 2, Ally Move Gauge Max -2, Strength ↑ 6
Team Comp: 5/5 Dawn & Torterra with Sand Shelter, 3/5 Lucas & Dialga with Critical Strike 2, 5/5 EX Cyrus & Palkia with Critical Strike 2
Didn't know Cynthia's passive allowed for infinite filed effects, which is fine because that means I put up Dragon Zone at the start and then I start blasting.

One of the best things about making AU’s with Pokémon Villains is that you can change up the team to reflect whatever media you’d like or to through in something fun.
I did this with Maxie and Archie (giving Maxie and Arcanine and Archie a Feraligatr in addition to their team-replacing their Koffing and Muk respectively)
Cyrus is getting a Luxray in place of his Gyarados (Luxray and Houndoom were given to him in one time line by Volkner and Flint and travelled with him).
Giovanni is keeping his damn Beedrill because it’s awesome in the manga. Along with his Persian, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, and Sandslash.
Augustine is getting Garchomp from the anime with the Kanto starters
And Lysandre is getting his Honchkrow swapped out for Hawlucha (cause my Mienshao and Hawlucha are besties in SWSH and it’s one of the most adorable things I’ve seen and I want Lys’ Mienshao to have a friend) Ghetsis’ team gets to be fun since I’m just having him learn about catching Pokemon (since he hasn’t technically caught Munna yet)

I didn't feel like doing off-type or F2P. I just couldn't work up the desire.
I tried, though. I tried to make Kris work against Flint, but unfortunately without the EX, she's just not taking care of the sides fast enough. Which is a shame. I feel like she could've done it with the EX. But in absence of that, here's Princess Hilda to bring the smackdown. Winona is here to change his weather on him.
Aaron was a bit rough, but only because sleep sucks. In CS, they just pivot to X items, and wake up at irregular times, and then you die anyway. It sucks. But it does stall out enough that we get two syncs in, so Jasmine gets double buffs, then Serena blasts through Endure at 48k damage.
...yeah okay, listen. This team is slow as dirt, I don't consider it all that great. But. Offensive Jasmine. I had to. And this was ultimately her win. Sure, Marnie exploded one of the sides for 84k on sync, but Jasmine was dishing out 13k per Iron Tail, so like...I'm satisfied with that.
Lucian was weak to Ghost. How unfortunate.
Then, Cynthia. I had to bring Cyrus. I had to do it. But instead of bringing Dialga, which probably would've been smart, I brought Lisia. Because apparently, Cynthia's stage has permanent Sandstorm. And I forgot that Defog works against Terrain and Zone, but not weather. So I went in super sure Lisia was an answer...and she wasn't. So that's on me. But! While Cyrus dropped to Cynthia's sync, he did take out the sides. And Lisia can buff her physical defense reliably, so she took the sync just fine. And then her own sync, while weakened because of weather, got her to Dragon Pulse, which did great damage, and finished the job just fine. So this is a Lisia win. Good job, girl.
On the whole, not too bad? At least, not this run. But I did do an F2P run, and while it’s likely possible to win? I’m not putting in that much time. I am not doing that. These F2P runs in Sinnoh take for goddamned ever, and I’m done. But I will give impressions of each as we go.
Aaron went first. I wanted to see how Silver would do. And the answer was pretty okay. I won’t say it was anything too nuts, but he did a reasonably good job, just took some adjustments to get it to work. Pretty reasonable. I’d try Blue and Arcanine, but no special attack and crit buffers so I’m really hesitant.
Flint wasn’t too hard to stall out, which is good because Grant 100% could not handle him on an F2P budget. I tried with Acerola and Hop, but it turns out Hop is weak to Fire, and no one else could get Grant to max power because no Maylene grid. So that’s just great. Without sun, he doesn’t hit too hard, and the rampant debuffs from Venom Drench are nice. Unfortunately, this means I used Janine, Skyla, and BP Erika, far too over-confident on what was to follow.
Lucian was actually really easy too, thanks to Giovanni. I expected a bit more resistance, truth be told, but I think we got it like second attempt? Maybe third. The only surprise was Earthquake following sync, which, once revealed, meant Roxanne could block it with Wide Guard, and Giovanni could finish the job.
Then, the fail state. Bertha is insanely bulky, spams Earthquake, Tyranitar has Crunch to just immediately devastate BP Morty on stall, and most devastating of all, has Head Start, by far the single nastiest thing I’ve seen a CS stage pull. Most stages, in a pinch, are able to be worked around by taking out the left side with sync, flinching, or getting a lucky fast queue of your action after sync, to get two syncs before the foe’s first. Bertha cannot be bamboozled in this way, and it poses a ton of problems. That in tandem with her fantastic bulk, and really threatening offensive potential with Earthquake, makes her a nightmare that F2P couldn’t win. If I had tried to stall her out with the Skyla team, we may have pulled it off. I won’t say it’s impossible. But then we’d need a solution to Flint, and we really did not have one. It’s bad no matter which way you look at it. Bertha was the end of this run, and so she receives the Big Dick Champion Award for the week, because hot damn is this some nonsense.
I did eventually just blast her with SS Giovanni. Got to take him for a spin. That was fun. But then it’s on to Cynthia.
Who...man. I was so hopeful. So convinced. That Clair would do it. This was her moment. But no. Earthquake spam is real, and it will kill you. All her moves seem to have AoE! Sure, Rock Tomb is the exception, for all twice I ever saw her use that over Brutal Swing or Earthquake. Even turning the weather on her didn’t have as much effect as I thought. While I’m legitimately overjoyed that this is a direct fight where Cynthia’s strategy is devastating and not relying on evasion to cheat, the tradeoff is that this feels decisively impossible on F2P. Stall gets really heavily worn down by permanent Sandstorm and all the buffs she receives, while offensively, the Earthquake spam wears down the sides far too quickly. It’s actually really hard to manage this one.
So yeah, Sinnoh’s still ridiculous, and kind of a pain in my ass. I’m giving up on the F2P clear. We have Gauntlet tomorrow, and that takes priority.

Fallen Fire Chapter 3 - Parental Bond
Basalt stood there, gawking. The pup’s scent. His markings. His voice. It was impossible.
And yet so, so real. “…Son?”
“Papa!” The Growlithe squirmed, trying to get up as his old Warden - his old Warden - stood.
“L-Lord Arcanine?! What are you doing here? Did you…’Fall’ as well?” Ah, she’d already had that discussion. And his child wasn’t confused at that statement, so he probably had it also. That makes things easier.
The Hisuian Arcanine adjusted his magenta shorts a bit before answering. “Yeah, I did…it was 1865 back in Hisui, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah…” His now-sibling shuddered. “I honestly still have nightmares…and it’s been hard to teach the young Heir to swim.”
“Ooof. Yeah, I couldn’t even look at water for a week after realizing what had happened.”
“That makes two of us.” Huh, deadpan Palina. That was new.
“…so, what happened? Was it another storm, or?”
“Another storm, yeah.” A sigh. “Iscan had been dragged off by the Diamond Clan for a meeting, so…” She shuddered. Let’s…change the topic.
“Iscan? Huh. I thought it looked like he saved you, but I wasn’t sure…” Wait, was she blushing? Wellllll now~. That’s something to note for later.
“Daaaddy, can’t you get them to let me outta here?” Erk! Right, his young Heir was just as confused as he was.
“Erm, maybe. But… can you do me a favor first?” Walking over, the former Lord slowly removed the covers from the pup. “ Could…you maybe look at yourself?”
“Eh? OK…daddy’s being weird…” The youth looked down, as requested. And within minutes, his eyes had shot WIDE open. So wide his bangs had flipped back, exposing those brilliant hazel eyes. “Wha?”
“…yeah.” A small smile. “You have hands now, kiddo. Part and parcel of ending up here, it seems.” The youth just kept staring, giving his paw-like hands some test flexes. “The doctors should be able to help you get used to walking on two legs. Means we won’t be able to go outside this building for a while longer, but it means you can get out of that bed without worrying about falling over.”
…no reply. Probably too fascinated. “Kiddo? Ya hear me?” A couple taps to the shoulder and the youth yelped, reverie broken.
“O-oh! Uh. Sure! Why can’t you or Auntie Palina help me with it, Daddy?”
“I had to learn how when I got here, and…well, those guys know what would make things go wrong. And how to handle it if you manage to, say, work your leg too much?” Two sets of eyes lit up in recognition. Good, they remembered that little mishap. The young Hair couldn’t walk right for weeks after that.
“Awww…ok Daddy.” A small whine before Basalt gave the kid a ruffle on the head, pushing his bangs back down.
“Don’t worry. If they don’t take good care of ya, I’ll give’m what for.” That perked his son up, tail wagging away as he gave a happy yip.
“Thanks Daddy!”
“Heh, no problem.” The larger male reached over to press the “call nurse” button, knowing there’d be someone by soon. Time to get this kiddo on two feet.
—-
As the “therapist” helped the young Growlithe learn how to walk on two legs, the Arcanines sat and talked. Well, “Basalt” (it felt so WEIRD to call the Lord… erm, former Lord… that. Since when did Pokémon go by names?) talked. Palina just followed along as best she could.
“So… a car is like a cart, just with Pokemon on the inside pushing it?”
“Kinda. The engine isn’t actually a Pokemon, more a…series of pumps that turn a crank.”
“Huh. I thought it was something related to that “steam engine” that Laventon fellow mentioned.”
“Eh? Both are ways to get around without walking, but outside of that they’re pretty different.”
“Alright?” She wasn’t convinced, but it wasn’t like she’d lived here for a couple years. “…by the way, what’s this ‘International Police’ thing you do?”
“Oh, that? Well…” hand to his chin as he thought. “It’s… a bit like my old job as a Noble, in that I help keep the peace in an area. But the methods are different. Not to mention I report to someone other than Arceu-Sinnoh.”
…Odd replacement there. “Also, I don’t just work in one area.” Wait, how - “I work in whatever area I’m assigned to.” Oh. That makes sense. “Although lemme tell ya, the stuff I have to deal with here is a lot different than the stuff back home… put it this way.
The normal police handle the sort of squabbles I’d handle as a Noble. The International Police handles things like… well…” he seemed a bit…lost. “More serious matters. Like if those bandit sisters managed to round up, like, 50 members. And were very good at covering their tracks.”
“…that…would definitely be serious, yeah.” Holy cow. That’s his comparison?
“Admittedly it’s a bit of a undersell in terms of scope-” That was underselling it?! “But given what we had back in Hisui, it was the best example I had.
…oh don’t look at me like that! I didn’t do it alone!”
“Maybe mention that detail earlier?” The (former?) Warden asked, tension fleeing her body. “I was worried for a moment there!”
“Eheh…sorry.” A pause. “…actually… I think the IP might look into recruiting you.”
What. “What? Me? Why?! I’m totally new here-”
“That’s… actually kinda the point.” And shock was stonewalled by pure confusion. “See, there’s this theory that Fallers…attract, strange events. Stuff like the rifts in the Hero’s tale.
It’s only been confirmed for a… particular set of circumstances, ones that thankfully were sorted out before I got here.” A small laugh, and yeah. She’d give a relieved chuckle in that situation too. “But they still tend to look out for Fallers, on the off chance that they can still attract issues. That way-”
“The crazy stuff might come to them instead of the other way around…” Legends, that was brilliant.
“Exactly! Now, they won’t make you join, and even if you do you could get a desk job.”
“A…desk job? They have people who make desks?” For a group who kept the peace, that seemed like a weird task -
“Ah, sorry. ‘Desk job’ refers to, well, basically jobs where you sit behind a desk all day.” Oh. That…made more sense.
“That sounds awfully boring.”
“Some people like them. And it’s out of the line of fire.” Right, the Miss Fortune sisters weren’t afraid to put up a fight… it was easy to see where a bigger group would pose a bigger threat. Even if you were in a group, it’d be scary dealing with that kind of thing.
“I’ll…think about it, I guess.” Dry laughter. “Besides, from the sound of it, there’s a lot to get used to here.”
“Yeah, that’s true.” A laugh. “There are still things here and there that take me off-guard, honestly.”
“What, like them calling me your sister?”
“…y-yeah, like that.” …ok, now she’s suspicious.
“We’re not actually siblings now, right?”
“Ah. Erm.”
“Right?” Honestly, only finding the old Lord alive and well would trump that in terms of weirdness. They were two different species back in Hisui, so there was no way in Distortion “falling” even could make them siblings.
“That… is actually kinda complicated…” Oh Legends, there was a way wasn’t there.
