Hey Rosa! What do you know about the other champions?
"Huh? Oh! Well I know lots of them! First up is Kanto. Kanto and by extension Johto's champion is the legendary Ash Ketchum. He single handedly defeated Team Rocket and is said to be the most powerful champion! Second is Hoenn's champion is May Emerald. She used to live in Olivine City with her family until her Father, Gym leader Norman got a new job in Petalburg. She also defeated both Team Magma and Team Aqua, and even stopped an end of the world scenario! Woah! That's so shocking! Next up is Dawn Platinum. She used to be the champion of Sinnoh. She stopped the evil Team Galactic and defeated champion Cynthia... Although... I heard she went missing all of a sudden one day... I hope she comes back soon. And lastly for the last champion before me, and Iris is my cousin. Champion Hilda White. She, and N holds the record for the shortest active champion in history. She was an amazing trainer who stopped Team Plasma 3 years ago... She went missing after telling everyone she will try to search for N after he flew off... Since then N has finally reunited with Ghetsis and even tried to stop him himself... But Hilda was no where to be seen during Team Plasma's return... Even if she's missing... I will do my best in finding and reuniting her!... Even if people gave up on searching for her."
Motochika noticed his trainer being sad and upset, as he makes worrying sounds.
"Rott...Samurott...?"
Rosa sadly smiles and gently pats her starter Pokemon.
"I'll be alright Moto....even if everyone gives up on Hilda... I'm not one of them. I still believe she's alive out there somewhere... Waiting to be found.

The Tides Of Fate
"Ah, Motochika... It's interesting seeing you here. I would’ve loved to prepare a more cordial welcome for you, but I was a bit taken aback when you said you wanted to meet here instead of at the battle garden. No army for me to face?"
"Not today, old rival," Motochika flashed a cocky grin, the same one that Motonari had fallen in love with all those years ago, and the stark reminder of just how bad he had fallen had his own smile dropping completely.
Motonari shifted nervously in his roller chair as he looked to see Motochika, warlord of Fontaine, standing by the door of his home office. The man had suddenly sent a letter after years of invading his kingdom and failing to overthrow his rulership requesting a private meeting, so against his better judgement, he'd agreed and sent a letter back telling Motochika to meet him at his home. It just so happened that his humble abode had some rather odd architecture and choices in regard to how the rooms were set up, so his office was the first room that you entered when coming in through the front door- that of which he hadn't even left unlocked and had no idea how Motochika opened.
He ignored whatever questions he might've had about Motochika's apparent lock-picking skills (or maybe he hadn't locked the door like he'd thought?) and gestured to the chair in front of him, that of which was across his desk and facing his body, set there purposefully just for today so the two of them could sit face to face and talk about whatever it was that had compelled Motochika to come here in the first place. Unsurprisingly, Motochika, who was infamous for being disrespectful and cavalier when negotiating with other warlords, sat on the edge of Motonari's expensive mahogany desk instead of in the chair. Thankfully, his small, hunger pane frame did no damage to the sturdy corner, as the man weighed only a little more than a feather with his diet of cigars, rum, and conflict, alcohol calories be damned. Motonari couldn't help but love the instability, the chaos, the uncertainty that came with having fallen for Motochika. It was the one thing that remained consistent over the years- that and the younger man's constant failed invasions of his kingdom, but they were both growing older, teetering the end of middle-aged, and battle made them both so weary that it hardly happened anymore whether Motochika wanted to admit it or not- they were both tired of the fighting, tired of this.
"Cozy place you've got set up here," Motochika said and rested his palms flat on the desk to support his weight, crossing one leg over the other. His hazel eyes- so deep, so dark, with so many different shades of honey and brown and gold- raked over the room; the bookshelves that were filled to the brim with different studies and novels about Pokemon, the mahogany desk he was currently sitting his tight body on, the black wooden floors and the grass-hued rug that was draped over the middle of them, the tall yellow lamp in the corner that kept the room lit with a warm glow, and finally, the black leather chair with wheels and Motonari, who was sitting in it. He suddenly felt self-conscious under the shorter man's gaze, but honestly, when did he not? It felt like Motochika could always see right through him. "It's a not different than mine."
"That's what I was going for," He muttered with a certain amount of dryness to make it believable even if it wasn't true. He loved Motochika and everything about him, but he was growing tired of playing this game; Motochika trying to take over his kingdom, failing, and that was the only time they'd ever see each other before it happened again. It had been a two-decade-long cycle that he was weary of now, because if he was being honest, he'd loved Motochika from the first time he laid his eyes on him, the first time he'd brought his tiny Oshawott and a puny army of rag tag warriors to try to attack his kingdom. He hid what feelings he had behind feigned apathy. "Where's Samurott?"
"She's at the hot springs right now; the new ones they just opened southeast of the capital of Aurora," Motochika explained and let his gaze flicker up to the ceiling and then back down to the ground. It was nice to hear that the water type was relaxing- she was a hard-working Pokemon, constantly training and battling, having evolved incredibly fast compared to most others of the same species because of her and Motochika's dedication. Something that Motonari had always admired about Motochika was that he didn't let his ambition get in the way of caring for his Pokemon's well-being. He never overdid it with her and frequently took her to do more relaxing activities when they weren't too busy. Motonari just found it odd that Motochika would leave Samurott by herself instead of going with her. "She's not one for traveling these days unless it's for battle, so she's staying with (y/n) and Eevee until I can go pick her up."
"I suppose she is getting older... I'm glad she's getting some rest instead of worrying about keeping up with you," Motonari snarked and didn't get a response of equal pettiness- he never did, after all, and it always made him wonder if snapping at Motochika because of his repressed feelings (or, as an attempt to repress his feelings) was even worth it.
"And your Serperior?" Motochika quirked up a blue eyebrow- a beautifully bright blue, which was his natural hair color, but he'd dyed it so many times since they were younger that not too many people knew what his natural hair looked like. Motonari, however, made it a point to remember each and every one of Motochika's many phases. "Where is he today?"
Motonari gestured with his light brown eyes to the corner of the room where Serperior preferred to sleep in his bed, a giant mattress with lush yellow blankets and pillows there for him to burrow into. Though a lot of his form was hidden with the blankets, his head peeked out, and Motonari couldn't help but chuckle at the fact that Motochika hadn't even noticed him passed out right by them.
"I'm surprised you missed him," When he paused, Motochika looked at him with uncharacteristic confusion lacing his features. He understood exactly why without having to ask because not only did they have a way of communicating wordlessly, but also because his Serperior was a rather energetic and feisty Pokemon that rarely became tired. "We had a long day."
"Really?"
"Yes, lots of studying," He answered and earned a scoff in return.
"Typical."
There was an awkward silence, that of which made the tension in the air so thick that Motonari couldn't even swallow or breathe properly. Motochika, bold as ever, only stared at him with a familiar heated gaze that he had never been able to pinpoint what it was. Motonari broke the stare between the two and stared down at his lap to gather his courage before meeting that heated gaze again and speaking.
"Let's cut to the chase, Motochika," He started and rested his elbows on the desktop, then clasped his hands together by interlacing his fingers. Motochika blinked at him, as if he were surprised at the sudden change in tone and conversation. It made sense, though- Motonari had always been one for avoiding serious topics and discussions, never wanting the atmosphere to be anything but relaxing, but he also acknowledged that there were times when serious verbal confrontations like this would only be for the best, and it was obvious that they needed to talk things out. "You're not invading me for once, and you're clearly not here for small talk. So, why exactly are you here?"
"How do you know that I'm not here for small talk? Maybe I felt like having a little chat."
"You never just feel like having a little chat, as you put it. Why are you here?" He demanded with a bit of a rasp slipping out before he could stop it. At that, he leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest, embarrassed. Motochika had always managed to bring out his more aggressive side.
"Hm... It's unlike you to get so serious with me, Motonari."
"And it's unlike you to call me by my name," He retorted, having grown accustomed to some variant of 'rival' even though he'd never seen Motochika as such, never even attacking Fontaine despite the other man's various assaults on Greenleaf.
"Fine, fine, I'll get to the point," Motochika sighed and gave a dismissive wave to change the subject. "We're getting older. Times are changing."
"Yes, you're right, and that's how it should be," Motonari quirked a brow as he responded, confused.
Exactly what was Motochika wanting to talk about? Somehow, he was even more perplexed than he was before. Was the leader of Fontaine about to suggest a truce? A peace? Was this little meeting for negotiations? He had suspected that, sure, but he'd been hoping for something more... Perhaps something a little more romantic. He'd been in love with Motochika for years, and though he sometimes thought that Motochika returned those feelings, he wasn't sure.
"I think... To adapt with the recent peace established by (y/n), we should try to adapt as well."
"What are you suggesting we do to achieve that?" Motonari demanded, now growing frustrated. It was completely in character for Motochika to speak in riddles and vague language instead of being direct, which had always pissed him off to no end in a way that made him drop his cool and collected composure.
"I was thinking we could both sign a peace treaty, have some of our council members present to act as witnesses if that's what you require..."
"And your conditions?"
"Oh, not much..."
"We're too old for you to be beating around the bush like this," Motonari laughed and ran a hand through his feathery green locks to sweep them back. "Get on with it already."
"Oh, please," Out of nowhere, Motochika stood, which made Motonari flinch. He debated on calling for Serperior, but he knew that Motochika wasn't going to try to attack him, so he took a deep breath, only for it to catch in his chest when the other warlord loomed over him, then leaned into his ear to whisper. "I know you still have some youthful vigor in there somewhere."
The words were said seductively, something he had enough experience not to miss as the hot breath fanning against his ear and neck started to stir a pit of arousal inside of him. He tried his best to ignore the feeling and jerked back with a shiver.
"What... What are you implying?" He stammered, voice cracking just enough for it to be noticeable.
Almost as if it had never happened in the first place, Motochika withdrew and moved to sit down in the chair that he'd initially refused to sit in when it had been offered to him. Even in the chair, his mannerisms continued to be odd; he sat in it sideways with his legs tossed over one of the arms and laid his head on the other arm, bleach blond and dark blue locks falling back. It was interesting to see his forehead and the fullness of his cheeks without his hair being in the way- if Motonari was being honest, the younger man had a noticeable baby face despite being in his early forties.
"My apologies for getting carried away there, but I was thinking that rather than stay separate from each other's kingdoms, we could make an alliance of sorts; share rulership, both of us have command over Fontaine and Greenleaf. It would make us stronger against any potential assailants further down the line and we could travel to and from to see different Pokemon..." The man was clearly trying to appeal to his interest in studying Pokemon, something he hadn't done before, which had Motonari furrowing his brows. Why was he suddenly suggesting an alliance like this? What did he get out of it? Did he know that it was the only way he could get some semblance of control over Greenleaf because he wasn't able to take it for himself through battle? Or was it something else? Motonari continued to listen and watch with interest, his eyes trained on Motochika's hands, which were currently fiddling with one of the many silver chain necklaces that hung around his ghostly pale neck. "I know you'd just die to come see the variety of Pokemon in Fontaine. You know, I've even heard of an Eevee being spotted by the local farm, and I know you've been interested in obtaining one for a while-"
"You don't need to convince me any further, but how can I be confident that you won't betray me the second I let my guard down?" He quirked an eyebrow and crossed his arms as he did a single spin in his roller chair and gave Motochika a pointed look.
"You and I both know that backstabbing isn't my preferred method of getting what I want, but if you don't believe me, I have a way to solidify this hypothetical partnership between the two of us," Motochika leaned even further back on the desk and held his hand up to look at his fingernails, those of which were neatly clipped and painted a deep ebony. "We could... Become a union."
Motonari stopped, unsure of what Motochika meant before he looked at the other warlord and saw a cherry blush on his cheeks that contrasted beautifully with his light green face tattoo. His heart dropped to his stomach. It all clicked into place at once, and his back straightened as he sat all the way up and slammed his hands on his desk in shock.
"Are you seriously suggesting an arranged marriage!?" He spat, baffled. His hands were now gripping the edge of the desk, his brown eyes blown wide. "Was this your council's idea or something? This- This isn't like you!"
And it was true- Motochika didn't allow himself to be controlled by his council, taking in citizens' thoughts and feelings and acting on them instead of being ruled by his advisors, but... He knew Motochika well enough to know that the man wouldn't dare get married or even date someone if he didn't love them. Did that mean he loved Motonari, then? Had he just missed it the entire time?
"Oh, no, this was my idea entirely," Motochika smirked and leaned forward and across the desk as if his suggestion was casual, as if it didn't mean anything, but Motonari saw the intensity and passion swirling around in those familiar hazel eyes- he was dead serious, and this was something he was hellbent on achieving. "And I am one hundred percent certain that this is what I want, so don't look at me as if I've grown another head."
"Gah... You've always been amazing at scrambling my thoughts, Motochika..." He opened his mouth to speak, only to find that he was at a loss for words. He drew his lips together tight and frowned at how dumbfounded he was before deciding to focus on something else. In that moment, he couldn't help but notice how much Motochika had changed since (y/n) had reunited Ransei and handed all of the kingdoms back to their original warlords; he'd evolved his Dewott into Samurott, colored his bangs bleach blond and the back of his hair ocean blue, and changed his armor. It was clear that he was different, stronger, older, that he'd aged like fine wine. A faint line crossed the middle of the water user's forehead from a mixture of his age and years of battle stress- that and from how often his eyebrows shot up when he was upset or surprised. Finally, after staring for far too long, he looked down at his desk and decided to say something. "I see you dyed your hair again."
"You haven't seen me since then until today?" Motochika took a strand of his newly bleached hair to twirl with one of his fingers and gave a smile- not a smirk or a cocky grin, but a true, soft smile, the left side of his lips curling up just enough to show off one of his dimples. "It's been too long. How unfortunate that we only ever really saw each other when I tried to invade this kingdom... How long has it been now?"
"At least a few months, and I uh... I like the new look."
"So? What do you think? About my proposal, I mean."
And, in a moment of boldness, Motonari reached across the table to grab one of Motochika's hands. The shorter man's hazel eyes went wide as he flinched and tensed up. It was clear that he wasn't used to being touched in such a tender yet simple way, but after a few moments, he settled into it with a shaky sigh and flipped his hand over to interlace their digits. His skin was cold and clammy with a nervous sweat. The green-haired man realized that Motochika was a lot more nervous than he'd initially appeared and that perhaps their feelings for each other weren't too different after all.
"Isn't it obvious what I think?" He murmured and walked around the desk to where Motochika was sitting.
Then, he moved down and stopped. One of his hands was gripping the back of Motochika’s chair while the other remained where it was on top of trembling fingers. Light brown poured into bright hazel, and as the two men simply fell into the depths of each other’s gazes, Motonari wondered why they hadn’t already been doing this for years- wondered if he would actually be lucky enough to spend the rest of his life like this. A sheepish smile broke out across his face.
"I'll take that as a yes."
Everything that happened next felt like a blur.
He was being pulled down into a jean-clad lap, Motochika’s lips were on his, his brown eyes were fluttering shut, he was struggling for air, and the sensation of a metal ring being slipped onto his left ring finger made him shiver. Motochika kissed just like he lived, passionate and fervent and reckless, hard enough to physically make Motonari lean back and gasp for air, only for those lips to be back on his within seconds. Finally, he moved into it and laced his hands together behind Motochika’s neck as if to ground himself.
It felt like forever before the kiss ended, but it did, Motochika pulling back to wipe a bit of spit from his chin.
“Wow, um… We should probably move this into the bedroom before we wake Serperior…”
“Are you implying we consummate this arrangement?” Motochika wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and gave a small laugh, face flushed pink. “Because if so, I’d like that.”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying,” He laughed back. “So let’s go.”

lol so i replayed pokemon conquest after like forever and when i got to the last couple main game stages, i had flashbacks to my let’s play videos on my old youtube channel in fact i’m watching them again and i cringe i started the video with “’ELLO, CHAPS” like i’m some kind of british weeb also it’s very evident that i’m 14 because i sound young and like an idiot lol
OKAY so i can’t access my save file for the main story bc i saved in the beginning of a different one, but i can tell you what my team was so in my original fight i used my Flareon, Oichi’s Dragonair/Dragonite, Motochika’s Samurott/Spheal, Shingen’s Rhyperior, Muneshige’s Staraptor, and Takatora’s Charizard in the fight i just did i used my Vaporeon, Oichi’s Jigglypuff, Ginchiyo’s Luxray, Aya’s Cubchoo/Beartic, Rikyu’s Darmanitan, and someone’s Excadrill (I don’t remember whose it was lol) it took me like five times to finally beat that stage before, and i had to try to link with Arceus multiple times but today i did everything in one go granted, the fights were a little tight, but i was able to beat them much easier than before
and the thing is, it’s not like i trained any harder than before, in fact quite the opposite! i was at about the same gameplay time, if not technically less because i let the game run idle for a while sometimes, and i was slightly farther back in time than my previous playthrough. i don’t know how Oichi got her Dratini before - i tried to look for one for a while but never saw any, so i just went on ahead to try anyway i would have probably done even better if i had had a Dragonair/Dragonite in my party, but i didn’t and still won way faster than before
i somehow didn’t record and/or upload the actual final battle but i’m pretty sure i had to redo that a few times as well
just fascinating to me that after 8 years i’d have retained a little bit of knowledge from this game and even more from strategy in general
in all honesty i was kind of hoping i would have been able to get the band back together but i wasn’t able to hell, i didn’t even get the chance to recruit Motochika i didn’t get the chance to recruit a lot of the other Warlords for some reason but anyway yeah i did good at pkmn conquest :>

There's a loud snap as a tree limb falls into the water with a splash, followed by panicked squeaking as a sodden lump of purple fur clings to the bark for dear life. It's only a small magikarp pond, but the little Rattata isn't the best swimmer.
Tumblr media
Sharp snap draws the attention of the Warlord, and that of his companion too. Samurott makes to quickly approach the Karp Pond, but is swayed against it. Motochika’s hand is splayed at her front to still her as instead he elects to make a dash for the pond. It is one of the smaller ponds, but this is Fontaine, and despite it being categorized as small it is still a decent size. Enough that one could not quite reach the fallen branch from outside it’s borders.
Luckily for the floundering Rattata, ‘Chika is not one to exercise sensible forethought. He’s all too quick to stamp his feet down into the shallows of the pond and wade further out. He’s not so foolish as to blindly reach out thought ( this is still a wild Pokemon, and in a frenzied state of mind out of fear ). He slows as he gets nearer, and tentatively reaches for the opposite end of the fallen limb.
“Over ‘ere lil’ guy! You don’t wanna’ break it further!”

Motochika, your least and most favorite teammates?
[Motochika blushed at the thought of Azura the Azumarill. "M-my favorite has to be... A-Azura... She sweet, kind, friendly, and all around a great Pokemon to be around..." Suddenly his blush instantly faded away as it was replaced by a tick angry mark "But my least favorite has to be Luca! He always plays tricks on me the most, and always pranks me by pretending to be Azura and flirting me as it was her! 💢"]

npc intro - Morichika & Nobuchika
Morichika
Perfect Link: Oshawott | Dewott | Samurott
Tumblr media
( art found here by @souledsilver !!! )
Morichika is the younger of Motochika’s two sons and is rowdy, much like his father. In fact, in many ways Morichika is much like his father, the same Pokemon line link, the same interest in seafaring and general attitude ( and of course, the jackassery ). Where Nobuchika is the far more government minded person, Morichika is infinitely more intrigued by military, and to some extent the economy.
As age dictates, Morichika will be the second in line for the Warlord title should Motochika die, with Nobuchika being the first. Due to this, Morichika doesn’t take his classes as seriously, often caught daydreaming or skipping in favor of visiting the docks or training with his companion Pokemon.
In spite of this, Morichika is a passionate individual who loves his family dearly ( damn near idolizes his father and thinks he’s awesome; wants to grow up and be just like him, much to the chagrin of his mother ).
Nobuchika
Perfect Link: Slowpoke | Slowking
Tumblr media
Nobuchika, as the eldest son, is the next in line to become Warlord. Unlike his younger brother, Nobuchika is somewhat annoyed by the way his father acts and his seemingly less than serious way of dealing with things. As a result, Nobuchika is somewhat detached from the family, instead preferring to spend time alone with his partner Pokemon studying or at some of the newly finished religious sites.
Nobuchika is content to let his younger brother be the one spending all his time on the ships and at sea, as he himself is far more interested in the history and science books in his free time ( what they have available in Fontaine ). To an extent, Nobuchika is somewhat afraid of the mystery of the seas, having been raised on stories that the sea monsters that lived there had killed some who ventured too far, he’s completely fine with staying on land. While he knows his way around a ship ( he’s a Fontainian for Arceus’ sake ), he won’t be readily volunteering to sail all the way up to the North.
The one thing Nobuchika takes directly from his father is his love for music. However, rater than just play, Nobuchika enjoys singing and dancing, especially in religious circumstances. It is not uncommon to find the eldest son at one of the monthly or weekly festivals partaking in or even leading a song.

worldbuilding hc  — on the subject of fishing, trade, and the guidelines in Fontaine
Tumblr media
As the most nautically inclined kingdom in Ransei, it comes as no surprise that a majority of Fontaine’s exports include fish, and fishing based products. It may come as a surprise, but Fontaine is actually quite prosperous with the wide assortment of goods they’re able to gain access to.
However, there are certain guidelines put into place by the early Chosokabe warlords that prohibit the fishing of certain species within Ransei. With how prominent Fontaine fishing products are within the market, their guidelines have spread to a good majority of the region.
Magikarp - Gyarados
Magikarp are a unique case in Ransei due to the variety that appear all over the coast. It should be noted that Magikarp are recorded to migrate to the coasts of Dragnor to begin the evolution process on the rivers that flow down the mountains. Generally, the Normal, Calico and Orange pattern Magikarp are found in most bodies of water, coastal and inland, and are essentially the free-for-all varieties ( there are no outright consequences for keeping a catch of these kind ) and are used as a source of food.
Pink, Purple and White pattern Magikarp do not have an especially good taste, but what makes these Magikarp lack in taste, they make up for in their visual appeal. Oftentimes, these types of Magikarp are caught and kept alive to be sold as pets for children, since their vibrant colors often appeal to young boys and girls. Pink and Purple Magikarp are found inland of Illusio and Spectra respectively, while the White Magikarp is often found in the frigid waters near Nixtorm.
Grey and Brown pattern Magikarp aren’t a highly sought-after variety due to their particular taste being less than desirable, and their coloration being far from appealing. As expected, they are seen often all along the coast, but have an especially dense population off the rocky coast of Terrera and Cragspur.
Black pattern Magikarp are a difficult case, as depending on the Kingdom where they are fished. Most of central and southern Ransei have no qualms with fishing up Black Magikarp since the scales are highly sought after for decorative usage. However, in the north, particularly within Dragnor, the Black Magikarp are regarded with far more respect due to their coloration, and depending on the region of Dragnor, one may be received poorly for fishing them. Coincidentally the highest density of Black Magikarp happens to be on the coast, and inland, of Dragnor.
An undisputed fact is that, should one reel in a Golden Magikarp, it must be returned to the water whence it came. This is respected all throughout Ransei, and is very well punishable as a high offense should it be found that someone has openly disregarded it. The only known exception in history is when current Fontaine warlord Motochika’s grandfather, Chosokabe Kanetsugu kept not one but two Golden Magikarp within Fontaine’s Castle as a means to breed the Gold pattern in a safe environment, that it would not eventually grow extinct. To counteract this, every Spring, the Fontaine Magikarp Festival culminates with the release of the year’s Golden population into Ransei’s waters. Naturally, this means that one is most likely to find a Golden Magikarp off the coast of Fontaine.
As for Gyarados, it is highly recommended in Ransei that fishermen do not actively seek out large groups of Gyarados since they are incredibly dangerous and have volatile tempers. There is not much profit to be had either, as their flesh is tough, and their scales are less appealing. Perhaps the only useful parts of the Pokemon to be harvested are their fangs, which can be used to craft weapons and tool, and the ‘crown’ that can be used for the same reason. Gyarados can be found all along the coast of Ransei, though there is a particular density on the coast of Dragnor, and within the mountain lakes and rivers.
Vaporeon
Vaporeon is a case where the Pokemon themselves are not profitable, but their appearance can yield profit. Vaporeon themselves are both rare and incredibly difficult to capture, not because of their temperament, but because their molecular structure allows them to seemingly ‘melt’ into the water, effectively escaping from nets unless completely taken out of the water fast enough. Neither the pelt, nor the meat from a Vaporeon is worth the work put in to catch one of them. However, the real money-maker is that if one manages to see a large group of Vaporeon, it usually indicated the mineral of Water Stones to be present nearby. One will usually see Vaporeon off the coast of Fontaine, or in clusters within the rocky waters of Cragspur.
Wooper - Quagsire
The Wooper line is not a particular profitable species, due to their meat being excessively fatty, and the skin being far too slimy to be used for any clothing material. The Pokemon are more a nuisance while fishing anyhow, since they simply sit in water with their mouths open. This tends to get hooks and netting stuck in their mouths, and makes for a large hassle to try and free one’s equipment. Fishermen that are around Cragspur’s coast are encouraged to thoroughly search the waters before setting your equipment out, lest a Wooper or Quagsire damage it.
Bibarrel
While not popular for their meat, Bibarel pelts are actually considered quite fashionable, and there is always a market for clothing made from the fur among the noble families of Ransei. Prized specifically for their retention of warmth and texture, as well as their unique waterproof nature, allowing them to be worn even in conditions such as rain or snow. However, despite the demand for Bibarel furs, fishermen and netters must be cautious not to overdo their efforts, as Bibarel dams often have a big impact on the environment. Bibarel can often be found along the rivers leading out to the coast, and sometimes even on the river deltas themselves.
Spheal - Sealeo - Walrein
While both Spheal and Sealeo may be netted for their blubber, which is then rendered into oil and then manufactured into products such as soap, candles, or simply used as fuel for roadside lamps, the true target that fishermen and netters go after are the Walrein. Not only do they yield a larger amount of blubber, but they also have the tusks which can be used for weaponry or, more commonly, shipped off as a raw material to other Kingdoms to be made into works of art or religious objects. As expected of the typing, the Spheal line is only found in the northern section of Ransei, along Nixtorm’s northernmost coastline.
Dratini - Dragonair
While not a fish per se, Fishermen often run into these two Pokemon when they travel along rivers. The general consensus among Kingdoms is that one generally does not actively seek out Dratini and Dragonair to fish for. Here and there, one may be caught in place of a target fish, but its frowned upon to specifically be a ‘dragon fisherman’, especially since in the kingdom of Dragnor, fishing or netting of any kind against Dragons is punishable by time in custody. While Dratini are found in a couple different Kingdoms’ rivers, Dragonair are only found in the mountain rivers of Dragnor.
Oshawott - Dewott - Samurott
Up until recent years, the Oshawott line was sought out for their Razor Shells, to be sold as both weapon sharpeners or, for the more dull shells, as a charm or toy for young children. However, once Chosokabe Motochika ascended the Fontaine throne and his Perfect Link with Samurott being discovered, the fishing has been explicitly banned within Fontaine’s borders. This, as it happens, has effectively put Razor Shells off the market, as the Oshawott family has only ever been found in the inland bodies of water within Fontaine.
Piplup - Prinplup - Empoleon
The Empoleon line is a dangerous line to contend with, and it is a general consensus among fishermen that it is far too much of a hassle to successfully net an Empoleon to even out the gains at the end of the day. While the trident-esque crown is sought out for both weaponry and cosmetic means, Empoleon themselves are resilient and even taking one down along is a difficult endeavor. It’s generally also agreed that if one is to get a Piplup on their line, its wiser to simply let it go than try and keep it, as wherever a Piplup, the parent Empoleon is no doubt close behind.
Panpour - Simipour
The Panpour line is another case where the Pokemon themselves are not quite profitable, but their presence indicates that a potential for profit is nearby. As opposed to Vaporeon however, the presence of Panpour and Simipour indicates a place where there’s a high volume of berries. The berries in question go toward the making of juices, or, more often than not, are used within Fontaine as bait for attracting more profitable fish. Often, these Pokemon are found along the border of Fontaint and Greenleaf, or Fontaine and Aurora.
Lapras
Lapras itself has never had a particularly high yield for product, with tough meat, and tougher scales, couples with the shell on its back, doesn’t make for easy extraction of materials. As a result, Lapras is more often than not captured for the sake of domestication, and sold from there to other Kingdoms as a fisherman’s companion Pokemon, since the Pokemon are known to have an innate sense of direction. It should be noted that while they are most often found in Nixtorm, it isn’t unheard of to find them in warmer seas from time to time. However, with the bond between Warlord Mitsuhide and his own Lapras, over-domestication of the species is highly frowned upon.
The Leviathan
Regarded by many Fontainians as a god of its own right, the Leviathan has never had a for-sure sighting. Some fishermen describe it as a several headed hydra that glows beneath the surface of the water, some say its a giant serpent with a maw so wide it could swallow an entire ship, while others yet claim it to be a giant whale with fins so wide its able to fly out of the water for a time. No matter what the true nature of the Leviathan is, it is incredibly dangerous and if its silhouette is sighted while out on a fishing trip, the party in question must return to Fontaine with all due haste and inform the warlord immediately.
