you guys should send me invincible requests *blinks cutely*
ive only finished season 1 but im already watching season 2, so feel free to send requests about the characters.
i have also only read like the first 13 issues of the comics, so most if not all my knowledge is based on the show and the wiki.
Note that my fave is def Mark at this point, but many of the characters have grown on me, especially Darkwing 1 and 2, Immortal, Rex, etc. ill even write about the flaxans at this point, cuz why the flaxan leader kindaaaa.... also a big fan of the evil versions of invincible.
Ive already had a few ideas, like a reader thats kinda based around mysterio from marvel. Or maybe the reader being green ghost, or even some viltrumite reader stuff.
and yes, of course i write smut too 🔥

Love these two mongs. They were my fav characters by far in the comic and it's nice to see them being cute together in the show.
Even though I know how the whole Flaxan thing turns out I can't help but UwU, I am weak, POWERLESS even to cute things.

i think it's so fun donald is a robot with such a strong motif of humanity vs cecil being very much human with a strong motif of acting like a machine :3c they are just very star crossed...
YYESSSSSSS ikr!!! I love how their motifs are so symmetrical and how complementary they are!!
The show does a really good job at portraying Cecil and Donald's dynamic as polar opposites. It's in every detail - in their character design (Cecil's characteristics are visually eye-catching (large visible scar + long hair) while Donald is so plain he blends in the background), in their body language (Cecil is firm and confident, Donald is hypervigilant and jumpy), in their ability to handle people's emotions!
i'm so sorry i'm talking too much but uh. more under the cut if you're interested in hearing some rambling???
Cecil's empathy seems limited. His attempts at comforting seem to take root in guilt, in his willingness to patch up the problems that he believes he has allowed to happen (even indirectly). He'll go above and beyond to fix things up and make things easier for people when they go through intense events (spending a fortune of taxpayers' money to rebuild Donald as lifelike as possible so he can be fooled into thinking that he's an organic human and lead a somewhat normal life; ensuring Mark and Debbie's financial safety following Nolan's departure) ... yet, you can't expect him to be remotely competent with just words.
This man's entire foundation takes root in guilt. Another example is the choice to stay heavily and permanently disfigured following the Chemical X incident, as a reminder of his failure to save others. I imagine that the buildup of angst and guilt is subconsciously consuming him from the inside, on top of the incredibly harmful lifestyle that he's been leading (little to no sleep + the goo bath must fuck up his brain so badly), is what pushes him into this state of emotional blindness.
Donald, on the other hand, directly involves himself with people. He's the direct link between Cecil and the rest of the GDA, the GDA and the rest of the world. He's the one who escorts Mark and Debbie at the GDA hospital when Nolan is recovering. He doesn't just bring them here without a word - he talks to them. He sees that Mark is genuinely curious, and he provides information about the GDA and its functions; after all, the boy's father is between life and death, and anything is better than some heavy silence on the way to see him. When Debbie insists on staying to watch over Nolan, Cecil relunctantly agrees in absolute silence, and Donald is the one who confirms it verbally in an attempt to smooth things over, to cut through the tension. Donald is constantly trying his best - even in the smallest details! Invincible's mission against the Flaxans was honestly a shitshow, even though it was his first time on the field. And yet?
I can definitely picture Donald glossing over the catastrophic numbers and saying something that would both reassure Debbie and make her feel proud. He could just say nothing, or tell her the truth about Mark struggling during his debut.
And of course, let's talk about the brutal discovery of his own death, the s/lf-h/rming episode in the bathroom leading to even more angst - imagine going through the pain of peeling your skin off in a desperate attempt to prove your humanity, only to find wires and metal under your skin?????? - the confrontation with Cecil who puts his entire trust on Donald and vice-versa, Cecil casually explaining that Donald's body isn't organic anymore and that he's pretty much just a brain in a jar and that any feeling of inadequacy is just "existential angst"?? then he just keep fucking working because the world can't afford to make a pause while he goes through anxiety attacks and dissociative episodes. Then Cecil tells him the whole truth, finally, and Donald gets to watch an entire compilation of his numerous deaths. After all of this, he finally completes the puzzle, he finally understands where all the trauma and pain and anxiety are coming from - he fucking died, in brutal and agonizing ways, and he decided to erase his memories so he could stay as efficient and not get held back by the trauma of dying????????
... Then, William calls him, and Donald immediately comes over to help. Not even a second is spent on, idk, recovering from the emotional rollercoaster. That man just learned that he's been trapped in a loop, working day and night for the GDA and putting his life on the line until he gets killed, only for the government to gather what's left of him and piece him back into a functional soldier so he can continue working. He's being denied the most basic, fundamental biological function that occurs within every organism - he is not allowed to die.
But he's on the roof with two struggling kids, one of which is going through the same kind of existential crisis that had been plaguing him these past few weeks. So of course he's going to do his best to help. William and Rick have no idea what Donald just went through, and they don't need to know - he shows vulnerability without dumping his trauma out.
Donald could have sent an emergency team to stop Rick's attempt and have him hospitalized for his safety, but he personally came to his rescue because he felt that it was the right thing to do. Even after everything he's been through, he still puts others in priority.
TLDR; Cecil and Donald are both very selfless but in totally different ways that somehow complete each other as the leading figures of the GDA.
im gonna stop rambling im so sorry for talking so much
#oh boy look who just turned me into an unskippable cutscene#thank you for your ask!!!! <3 i love talking abt Donald!!!!#cecil stedman#donald ferguson

@kxllerblond from here
The sad truth of Rex's situation is that he can't trust anyone that's close to him. This incident only proved it further to him. He used to have to deal with assassination attempts when he ruled the Flaxans, not being a public figure is another reason staying in the shadows has benefitted him. He never considered one could come from inside the GDA. He will not make that mistake again.
He realises how this looks. They met once. Still, it's that detachment that makes him the only person he can trust right now and he needed to get away. Before his anger pushed him to irrational decisions.
" I know , and I'm sorry . I know it can't not be unnerving , me showing up here , but it is my job to know everything about everyone . I guess that is why I'm here . " He frowns, that didn't come out quite like he wanted it to. He takes his shoes off almost on autopilot. His mind too overrun with thoughts.
" It's Rex , by the way . Rex Conners . " He says as he sits down. He rubs his hands together nervously. " And I'll take the strongest thing you're willing to part with . "
He pauses then, his foot tapping anxiously along. He places a hand on his knee to stop it before speaking up again. " Thanks by the way. For , you know , not closing the door in my face . I had expected you to if I'm honest . " He keeps his eyes fixed on the floor. " I had a pretty rough day today . It made me realise I don't have anywhere to just be - I mean , I live in a government facility . It made me think of what you said , about human nature . " He shakes his head. " I just need to not be around all that . Just for a little while . "

i just realised that when Nolan asked Mark to tell him everything about his battle with the flaxans is not because he genuinely cared but because he was carefully measuring the extent of Mark's powers

So Flaxan’s antennae are like hair in a way? That’s an interesting concept. It makes me wonder though if they still operate as regular antennae (sensing stuff in general), or are purely cosmetic.
We even see that their antennae can grow in length, as we see this with the Flaxan leader in the show (most particularly his side antennae). It's probably like how hair follicles work, where as long as the follicle is undamaged, your antennae will grow back (hence why the Flaxan leader's antennae didn't grow back). Would cutting them be painful though? Assuming they have nerve endings there

I'm back wayy too early, Just as promised!👍🏻
How are you?
Would you like to explain, in the Reader of your choice that "Flaxans' king is kinda..", mister?🤨📸
Aaand that's It for now, drink some water mr. Allig-author, I'll do the same.
See you in the close future! ~💙🌺✨
Flaxan Leader x antihero male reader
Headcanons
straight up cant find any flaxan gifs
What do you mean 🤨📸 I said what I said 🗣️
Reader is kinda based on Deadpool, but with some tweaks. Insert also flaxan headcanons, cuz I thought it was funny.
Working with teen team had never really been something you planned to do. You were more of an antihero than an outright hero. Majority of the public didn’t even know about your existence, since most of your dirty work was done in the shadows.
But seeing as the guardians of the globe weren’t responsive, and you had been in this business for a long time, Cecil called in a favor you owed him, which lead to you fighting alongside this group of young heroes.
To you it felt like being a caretaker or kindergarten teacher, since you were older than all of them with a lot more knowledge and experience. Your lack of care about spilling blood and killing seemed to unnerve a few of them, invincible being one of them.
Your regeneration seemed to shock the flaxans you fought, as they’d blow your head off with their blasters, or would slice your limbs off, only for them to regrow in seconds as your damaged body kept on fighting.
Invincible may have scarred his face, but you were the one the one who would become the flaxan leader fought head on. You may not have super strength like some of the others, but your expertise made you even more of a bother to fight.
Since we know nothing about flaxans, let’s say that they flirt through sparring or fighting, so you being your joking usual Deadpool self could be seen as advances of some kind. The kiss you blow him as they flee the first time doesn’t help your case.
After the first invasion, I can already imagine the likes of invincible freaking out a little or a lot about how easily you kill and how you make a joke out of everything. It results in you having to give these young heroes a reality check, that being a hero isn’t easy, and that they’ll probably end up killing more people than they save. That’s your feelings about it anyways.
The second invasion has you involved again, since your extreme healing factor also means you barely need to sleep, eat or drink, as your body keeps itself going without issue. And once again you end up fighting the flaxan leader, whose now got a different look.
The first words that leave your mouth is ooing and awing, purring that you like em a little grey so you are happy to see him. All the talking you did during your first battle also meant that the flaxans, or maybe rather the leader, has a much better understanding of human speech.
The second invasion ends like the first, except the leader is too busy fighting with you to focus on invincible and atom eve, so Robot ends up finding their weakness on his own. Sometime during the fight your mask also ends up getting ripped off, letting you plant a big kiss on the flaxan leader’s forehead before they flee.
When members of the teen team ask why the hell you did that, you just shrug and make some comment about how you two “have a connection”. Its clearly a joke, because you take nothing seriously, but the flaxan leader seems to see it as legit.
The third invasion goes differently from the show, since the leaders risen up to rule all of his people, and instead of wanting to invade earth this time he comes through to court you, much to everyone’s surprise, both you, the teen team, and the media that’s been watching the entire time.
Imagine your surprise when the flaxan leader, now a good deal older and in a powersuit, rocking up to you with flowers native to his planet and what looks like a bracelet made out of similar material to his armor.
It takes some translation and some help from Cecil and his people to figure out what its all about, and honestly you feel a little chuffed at this big guy pretty much proposing to you after two fights. It seems completely out of the norm for humanity, but apparently its normal in flaxan culture.
In the end it helps create more of an allyship with the flaxans than them getting eradicated by omni-man. And you end up scoring a hot older guy who doesn’t seem to mind your many many scars. Its not everyone who can say their husband developed technology strictly to be able to exist in your world, is it? you definitely brag online about it, “if he wanted too, he would” and all that.

So as it turns out the martians kind of had it coming.
This is an interesting perspective, but I'm not sure I buy it considering Shrinking Ray crawled into someone's brain not a few panels later. And yeah this world has some high tech healing but is the government going to spend that to help villains/criminals? Omni-man may be an outlier but he's already set the precedent for violence in this series and no matter how many times we see some other villain knocked out or let escape like the flaxans it's not going to stick in the readers mind as much as a death. And it's only going to get more brutal from the little I know.
On a less serious note, Battle Beast is a giant alien warrior who craves true combat and takes trophies. Battle Beast is the Yautja/Predator of the invincible universe and I fuck with that because I like the Yautja.

*long drag of my non-existent cigarette* I think invincible being a post 9/11 comic has more impact on the story than people realize. at least in the earlier arcs there’s a political connection that could be made with omniman the “defender of democracy” or w/e having secretly committed a horrible atrocity and then proceeding to murder thousands when his son protests against the idea of allowing the earth to be colonized by an alien empire. eventually invincible gets too lost in the sauce of trying to tell an engaging story that it drops the political implications for a while but then it brings in it the flaxan/dinosaurus/robot triple whammy arcs and then the comic becomes about taking initiative and making tangible chances in society, and who should or shouldn’t have the right to decide what’s best for people, and how even the most altruist of rulers will become corrupted by power when their tenancy is too long. but then the comic just kinda ends without really saying anything meaningful about any of that, which is probably for a mirad of reasons such as robert kirkman and ryan ottley wanting to wrap the story out as quickly as possible
the earlier political implications aren’t really present in the show anymore which is I assume why nobody talks about them, and it’s probably been intentionally subdued because there’s already an amazon prime tv show that examines the overlap of superheroes and politics, but it does make me wonder how the show will approach these topics when it eventually gets there (in 2045)
#lois griffin voice: nine………….eleven#this post is inspired by my frustrations with ppl saying bulletproof was wrong for saying cecil protects white america#bc even though he may not be specifically defending white america he is willing to put others in danger#for the sake of maintaining the status quo#such as when he was completely aware that omniman was bullshitting when he first arrived to earth#a lot of invincible is just guy who sucks slightly better than the last guy which makes him an infinitely better person#and the show subduing the political stuff is neither a good nor bad thing its just a thing i guess#makes the story more intimate abt carving ur own path and fighting against generational curses or w/e#invincible#shut up birdy

This kinda just hit me out of nowhere but I have some thoughts
So, in the last few epsidoes of Invincible it becomes pretty noticeable that the colors on Omni Man’s suit aren’t as bright as they used to be at the start. And while this is most likely fading due to all the weapons being used on him and him getting thrown into the ground a few times, I think this shows something else. The symbol on the suit is fading just like the symbol of Omni Man. As he destroys the view the world has of him being a hero, the colors slowly fade away to represent that.
At the beginning of episode 1 where he protects people alongside the guardians, the red is very bright and stands out. The first we see of him is the scene of him saving Dark Wing, and it zooms up close to the bright red of his suit. All of the colors are bright on the heroes, they’re recognizable and a symbol of good.
In episode 7 Omni man’s suit’s color has become more dull, no longer standing out as much, and it almost fades into the background. The blood which once (if I’m remembering this correctly) was almost the same shade as the red on his suit is more vibrant. The eye isn’t drawn to the big O anymore like it was in the first episode, it now goes to the blood.
And same with episode 8, the colors are faded there to. Omni Man is no longer a symbol, no longer a hero. And I feel like his bloodshot eyes show this to. Red is an important color throughout the show. On the Flaxans planet it’s all red. That’s where the image of Omni Man being Earths protecter seemed a bit off, and just like in the final episodes the colors here show that. The red on Omni Man’s suit is bright and loud at first, but eventually it becomes faded and even unrecognizable - just like the symbol it once belonged to.
#Idk if anyone has thought of this before but this is just my take on it#invincible#invincible spoilers#omni man#nolan grayson
