My heart is bleeding a bit. With finishing "идиот" by Fjodor M. Dostojewskij I ended reading all his five most famous books (the elephants) translated by Swetlana Geier for the first time. . Lew Nikolajewitsch Myschkin is a young count with epilepsy, who travels home to Russia after five years in a swiss sanatorium. The most impressing thing in the book is his character in his unconventional kind. He is pure benignity. Because of his simple and loving attitude, the people see an idiot in him. And also because he can't remember even familiar people after heavy attacks. But he's also clever, I love Myschkin. The man who brings goodness and fails disastrously. Great heroes in literature are never totally subsumable. And so I like the other characters. Insane ones, sick, loving with speed. Sometimes kind, but then gloomy and fevered. . Nastassja Filippowna is a fallen woman who lives in luxury from the hand of a sponsor. Some want to marry her because of the dowry. Myschkin tries to marry her not out of pity, but out of love for a defiled human. But she is a fevering person and thinks Myschkin is too good for her, so it's an on/off thing with a brutal character. Myschkins rival is Rogoschin, a morbid man. One that observes people in a way that they always feel his eyes in public. Then there is this other woman who found favor with Myschkin, Aglaja Iwanowna, who plays her own nervous little games. . There are some many more persons in that book I want to talk about! That's the pure art of my beloved Dostojewskij ❤️, to make them so realistic and fantastic at the same time! Only he wrote gloomy and amiable stories in such a great way. With power, intelligence and in depth. Walter Benjamin said this book feels like a monstrous crater collapse, another thing I loved about it. .
