Freddy freezes up at the pleading words, a small gasp escaping him.

Slowly, he looks down at the young girl, the young survivor who came to him on a stormy night, seemingly out of nowhere. The child whom he gained so much respect for rather quickly, this little lady who proved to be so hurt...yet hardened, headstrong, and determined...showing such a side of vulnerability, that her walls came down for him. It meant a lot to the animatronic, that she cared about him in this way, even just a little bit. It was more meaningful to him than she probably would ever know and it was all the harder for the mascot to go on with his farewell.

To let another one go.

The expression Freddy wore looked sadder and sadder by the second as a frown crossed his muzzle. The bear didn't want to leave her here, in fact, he was so tempted to just scoop her up and run the opposite way. He remained right on the outskirts of the town, though, the very edge he often refused to cross, for he feared it in a strange sort of way, like entering was just taboo. He didn't want to let her be alone, either, within the streets and maze-like alleys...but he knew that there were humans there, adults who, perhaps, could provide for a child a whole lot better than he could, if she let them. He was just a robot, after all. And although the mascot had been created to entertain children he scarcely had the means or knowledge to help Gretel, as much as his whirring servos wanted to will him to...it wasn't...logical.

He hoped one day, if she ever looked back, she'd understand this better.

"...I have to go, I'm sorry." Fazbear said softly, his tone slightly strained as he knelt down to be more level with the girl. "You do too, whatever answers you seek, my dear...I cannot provide them...I will only slow you down." There came a sigh, but then the bear looked Gretel dead in the eyes, placing a gentle paw on her shoulder. "I believe in you. Do what you must and you will succeed, remember that for me?"

The animatronic almost wanted to ask her to not forget him but part of him wondered if he truly deserved that.
