The twists on Agents of Shield hit SO HARD omg, and one of the main reasons for that is the diversions they utilize.

Like I never in a million years would’ve seen that Ward twist coming, (most people didn’t) especially after how betrayed he seemed when it was revealed that Skye was still in communication with the rising tide. They make it seem like “oh yeah, that’s the twist, Skye is the one who’s most likely to secretly work against everyone for a little while, but she’s not doing that anymore so that’s solved” and then Grant kills Hand and stabs everyone in the back and it’s insane.

I thought that the whole Necklace Of Death storyline was leading up to Yo-Yo’s death, and that passing it around and different people wearing the jacket was just another huge diversion to make us think that it was going to be someone besides her. It was her necklace. I was absolutely certain it would be her. I NEVER would’ve thought it would be LINCOLN.

We thought it was an evil fear-dimension doppelgänger of Fitz, only to find out he was never there and it was all Fitz. They really make you think it has something to do with the fear dimension, because that’s the main conflict, right? No.

AND OF COURSE WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT SELF CONTROL. OMG. Maybe other people saw this part coming, but I never considered that one of Fitzsimmons would also be an LMD. I got literal chills when they discovered that their friends were replaced. That’s what I was focused on. And then they reveal that one of them was replaced. (Also, I just have to say the acting in that episode is absolutely phenomenal)

The writers are just so good at distracting you with other elements of the story, just so that they can completely catch you off guard with new, even more insane twists.

i've been watching a LOT of agents of shield in the past week and i'm now kneedeep in the framework storyline and i'm not gonna lie gang. i'm having a hard time with evil fitz.

Weirdly specific AOS headcannons

Lip balm edition

It's long af btw

Daisy is always losing them but usually just buys drug store chap stick. She likes to see what cool flavors she can get on missions. Jemma gifted her a really nice honey suckle bees wax one, and she keeps it in her room because she doesn't want to lose that one.

May has a single stick of chapstick, peppermint, and is the only one able to use one till the last bit without losing it. No one knows how she does it. It's gone through hell.

Jemma has the really expensive but eco-friendly beeswax kind, and she collects them religiously. She won't tell you how many she has but she know the exact number and has a little organizer and system.

Fitz has about 3 original burts bees scattered around his lab and room. He isn't allowed to touch Jemma' s collection anymore after he got too curious and a bit too drunk and took a bite out of one. Refuses to use Jemma's brand bc it's 'pretentious.'

Bobbi has one of those round eos ones because if it's too small she will lose it. She has one in each bag, and never goes anywhere without it. She despises mint lipbalms bc if she " wanted mint, there is toothpaste in the bathroom." There is a side eye from May when this is brought up. She also likes the Burt's Bees lip tints but she only uses them on special occasions. Somehow she lost her favorite lip balm....

Coulson uses the little tins of lip balm. He likes them because someone told him that's how captain America would have used lipbalm. May thinks it's adorable.

Elena likes to use lipstick but Jemma has convinced her to use the one Jemma picked out for her. She really likes the cinnamon scent. It makes her really happy because someone took the time to figure out what she likes.

Mack used to use either none or original drug store but the air in the shop is so damn dry. He had heard of Jemma's collection and asked for "whatever" because he didn't want to go out of base and buy one. She actually asked Elena about his cologne and what scents he likes. He got a really nice floral one, and he isn't ashamed he likes flowers. The tube looks very small in his hands though. Hunter made a jab at the flowers on the label and mack replied "At least I'm not crusty" Hunter decided to steal one of Bobbi's lip balms bc of this. He is "not crusty" anymore, according to him.

Hunter stole one of Bobbi's eos, and refuses to give it back or even admit it. He really likes the floral scent but he can't figure out which scent it is on his own. He can't ask because he once took the mickey out of Jemma's collection for being a " floral nightmare" in front of everyone. (She called him disheveled and said his skin was wrinkled and shrunken like a prune. She is very into skin care) He is now in too deep, as he discovered how mad Bobbi was that some "idiot must have stole (her) lipbalm, but who even steals a half used lip balm?"

Piper has a bad habit of chewing her lip, and just forgets to use lip balm. May told her to stop it because it was a really obvious tell. Jemma, being herself, gifts her a rapid repair extreme moisturizing one. Piper is extremely grateful. It also tastes bad which helped her break the habit.

Talbot thinks lip balm is for girls and sissies. He stated this when Coulson took out his tin of lip balm. Jemma did not like this. Jemma started on a rant about skin care and health. She took her lip ba to read the ingredients as Talbot called it a chemical scam from big pharma. The verbal sparring ended with Hunter walking in and saying "At least I'm not crusty" Talbot nearly threw the tube at him for that.

Ward uses his own ear wax.

Love how Elena chose to be shitty to Daisy because of the possibility that she might end the world but didn't hold any resentment towards Fitz for the way he violated her. Love that Jemma went on to comfort her husband after he cut into their friend as she screamed in agony but couldn't be bothered to check on said friend even once. If anything she just really wanted Daisy to get over it.

Love how these women of shield decided to side with a white man who violated a woman, gaslighted her. I have always believed AoS has really well written female characters but then I remember these things and it makes me question why I even liked this show in the first place.

thinking abt how in nearly every verse fitz comes looking for jemma once she's settled down somewhere. it's usually several years after she's left (because she has to be fairly settled and feel fairly secure before he even gets a shot at finding her), but even then he'll find her place and tries to convince her to go "home" to shield w him and it usually takes a few times of her saying no (and a dog bite) before he leaves and kinda just want more interactions where people are Around for that

would be really funny to make a relationship chart for all the relationships in aos currently (couple eps into season 3) because its just ward at the center with "hates and wants to kill" lines between him and literally every single other person

Some of my favorite scenes in season 2 is when May put herself between Daisy and an Asgardian and Kree without hesitation, even though she didn't really know what was going on, only that Daisy was making the room shake and that they were going to try and take her away. When she ran with Daisy to keep her safe and was prepared to fight. When she defended Daisy to Sif after she had shot herself with an icer.

And when Fitz helped Daisy hide the fact that her DNA had drastically changed, because he knew that nobody was ready for that yet, least of all Jemma. He lied to everyone for her, because he knew she needed someone on her side right now. When he held her and told her that she was just different now. When he repeatedly defended her against everyone else after they found out.

Pretty convenient that all the insane time travel and Deke stuff happens when Fitz and Simmons are in a (relatively) stable relationship. It’s the future. Theoretically, they could’ve been sucked into the future earlier, they just weren’t.

Things might’ve been crazy in season 5, but imagine how much crazier it would’ve been if Fitz and Simmons met their grandson at the beginning of season 3. Simmons is still dealing with the aftermath of Maveth and her feelings for Will and she finds out she and Fitz have a literal grandson.

Imagine if they met him sometime in season 2, where Simmons isn’t even sure what she’s feeling about Fitz and all that he said at the bottom of the ocean, and everything is complicated and strange.

Imagine if Fitz and Simmons met Deke in season 1. Two best friends. One might have feelings for the other. They meet their grandson.
