     Yuu had often worked part-time for the Fish Mafia Trio, but usually, it was as a waitress. Today, however, the school was having a festival of sorts, and Crowley had stuck the job of entertaining the crowd before the main event started in Yuu. The holiday apparently being from Kalims home, celebrating how in their history the Genie helped a street rat along his way of becoming a sultan.

"Whilst I illuminate the possibilities"

Already getting a decent sized crowd, Yuu smiled as they sung. Having borrowed an outfit from Jamil who seemed to realize Yuu had once again been forced to do something for Crowley and wanted to help a bit. They had dressed somewhat the way they remembered genie did from the movie, using their Disney knowledge to dance as they sung.

"Let me take your order, jot it down,"

Yuu had managed to convince Azul to use magic so that the special effects would captivate the audience. Despite hating how much work Crowley always gave them, they wouldn't pass up giving people a good show

"How bout a little more bakalava?"

As the crowd got bigger, the Leech Twins found their way to Azul, who was off to the side as he concentrated on the special affects. Smiling creepily as always, the two gladly watched and helped out a bit as Yuu sang on the stage.

"Can your friends do this?"

Going along with the dance they had made from memory of the movie and from scratch, Yuu kept their smile as the crowd watched and listened. The special effects from the Fish Mafia Trio's magic made the performance even more captivating as almost everyone had stopped and sat down to watch the stage performance.

"You ain't never had a friend like me,"

Finishing with a pose and then proceeding to bow, Yuu walked off stage as the audience applauded. Now backstage, they happily thanked Azul and the twins for the help. After a pout from Floyd, they allowed the eel to squeeze them, somehow not dying as the Fish Mafia Trio complimented the performance. Yuu and the twins deadpanning at Azul when he suggested Yuu helping lure in more students at the Lounge.

"What? It was just a friendly offer."

Unknown to Azul this was all a set-up by Y/n, the twins, and a bit of Venus + Grim. The tweels paid Y/n to help them set this all up for his birthday. Venus just wanted him to eat it after all the trouble she went through to learn how to make it, Grim wanted to paint. But at the end Y/n walked away with their pockets a bit heavier, leaving the mafia trio satisfied even if they won't truly admit it.

Hello! It's me again. I'm probably pestering you, lol. I think a lotta people give flack for the Octavinelle trio being ruthless and "behaving like a Mafia." But I think considering where they live it makes sense? They live in the ocean. And the ocean is a kill or be killed environment, where you have to the strongest and toughest. If not? You at least have to be quick witted and unable to be seen, otherwise you'll be dead. If the trio become too soft they'll be fish meat.

I think the fandom is pretty divided when it comes to perceptions of what the Coral Sea is like. On one hand, you have the people who think of it as like living in Atlantica, which is basically just like living in a peaceful and pretty city (but underwater). Then you have the people who think the environment would be so different it would shape its inhabitants to behave differently as well. The second one tends to be a darker or grittier interpretation which aknowledges dangers such as other undersea creatures and treacherous living conditions.

Personally, I lean on and enjoy the latter, since TWST rarely ever designs purely for the aesthetic of it; one example of this is how the twins are confirmed to be bioluminescent in the Magical Archives. This is a decision that was not made “because it would look cool”, but because many deep sea creatures rely on this trait to intimidate potential predators. It would make more sense for the cold waters of the Coral Sea to change its people rather than merfolks’ cities simply being civilizations moved several leagues under, especially seeing TWST time and time again really consider the geography and history of each new location and how those inform the cultures that form there.

However, I want to state that the Coral Sea would be very different depending on which area you’re in, just like how there are nice parts and bad parts of a city. It’s not ALL nice or ALL bad. For example, the Atlantica Museum in book 3 appears to be in a more photic zone, so there’s more sunlight and it appears pleasant to be in. Even the merpeople there seem to be different than the Octatrio; they less so resemble specific sea creatures and are much more akin to being human-like. We have yet to really see how the benthic zones are—but we do know they must be harsher, since Floyd has mentioned exploring shipwrecks and various dangers there (like sharks).

I also want to point out that there are subtle signs in dialogue which could imply merpeople prefer traits that promote survivability and adaptability in the ocean. Azul’s bullies are noted to taunt him for his weight, but also for his bulky tentacles and inky tears. Now why those traits specifically??? Because these impede his ability to swim swiftly (making it harder to escape danger) and easily give away his location (if he’s in hiding or camoflauging).

I’ve seen others suggest that maybe these comments are because of racism against octopus merpeople, who are a rare kind of merfolk. This is entirely possible, yes! But thinking about it like that… Isn’t it also possible that there aren’t a lot of octopus merpeople at the moment because it’s more difficult for them to escape or to hide from predators? Which then informs and perpetuates preexisting prejudices. In this context (plus the bullying), it makes sense why Azul may have “hardened” as a defense and survival mechanism. The same goes for the twins, who were explicitly taught how to defend themselves (although this also goes into the Leech mob family theory, which is a whole separate matter) and have often made references to fighting others in the Coral Sea. Their upbringings also play a part in their personalities, but so does the environment they grew up in. Like Azul and the twins, you’d have to harden mentally or physically to some degree to ensure your survival through tough circumstances.

It’s hard to say for sure though! A lot of this is speculation based on current but infrequent lore, and the Octatrio themselves are a very small portion of all merfolk. They may not be representative of the behaviors of all other merpeople, and we should keep this in mind when referring to them as our exemplars. That’s why I’ve been hoping for a Coral Sea hometown event so we have a more concrete idea of what life under the sea is like 😭

It’s a strange stroke of luck that the “land bootcamp” happened to be near your home. Owing to your curiosity, you jumped on the opportunity to see what it’s like when the twins asked you to visit. You didn’t have permission to enter the building, so you sat on a bench outside, staring at the entrance. They’d be coming out any moment now for their break.

You weren’t sure what you were expecting, but it wasn’t for three human-looking boys with canes to exit together. One of them lagged behind so you couldn’t see him very well, but the two in front were familiar. Sure, they were significantly less green and slimy, their fingers didn’t end in claws, and no fins protruded from their body, but you could recognize their faces anywhere.

“Jade, Floyd!” You stood from the bench. Even at a distance, it was obvious that they were tall. “You look so not like fish!”

With an excited whoop, Floyd tossed aside his cane and dashed towards you, only . . . for his legs to buckle on the third step. He fell flat on his face, the cane rolling onto the grass out of his reach. Panic surged in you as you rushed to his side.

“Seven, are you okay?”

He seemed to be in a good mood. Instead of sulking, he rolled onto his back and laughed up at the sky, arms splayed like a sea star.

“Man, I suck at walking!” His infectious grin revealed rows of sharp teeth. It turned out the transformation potion didn’t change everything. “How d’ya get your tail fins to move separately?”

“Tail fins . . . oh, feet?” You glanced at your own. “I don’t really think about it. I guess you should practice more?”

“Floyd has actually been practicing quite diligently.” Jade piped up, approaching with carefully measured steps. Heel, foot flat on the ground, balls of the foot, toes, lift. His heels touched the ground at nearly exact intervals in exactly the same way, as if he was trying to become a human metronome. The cane in his hand looked more like an accessory than a walking aid. You got the feeling he was trying to prove a point. “He bet that he’ll make it to that tree without any walking aids before I do.”

He gestured at a tree a hundred metres away from the school gates. You figured it might be a while before they’d fulfill the conditions of the bet. Jade had mentioned that it took them a week to stand on their own.

“Any progress?”

“I’d like to think things are progressing smoothly.” He finally put some weight on the cane and stepped onto the grass. “For instance, I can even do something like this.”

Slowly, he bent his knees and started to lower himself. One hand gripped his cane, the other reaching for Floyd’s forgotten cane. A bad feeling overtook your gut.

“Hold on, Jade—”

The words were hardly out of your mouth when his knees buckled and he fell backwards, his rear thumping loudly on the grass. You searched his face for any pain. No sign of it. His eyes were only wide in surprise. In the background, Floyd’s cackles filled the air.

“Um. Are you okay?”

“Yes, thank you.” He chuckled sheepishly. “I have never before felt the effects of gravity so acutely.”

“You should stop showing off.” An unfamiliar voice admonished him. You looked up into silvery-blue eyes. The third member of their group used a quad cane, fingers firmly clasped around the handle. He heaved a sigh at the twins on the ground. “Use the equipment properly. Rushing the process is why you keep falling.”

“How can you learn to walk if you have a fear of falling?” Jade quipped, a sharp glint in his otherwise unassuming smile. You had the feeling there was a hidden meaning behind those words directed to the stranger, but you didn’t know enough about him to guess what it was.

“You certainly won’t be learning any faster if you injure yourself.”

“I have to agree with your friend.” You crouched next to him and picked up the forgotten cane. Floyd swatted at the end of it a few times before taking it back. “Take it one step at a time. Literally and metaphorically.”

“I’ll take your advice into consideration.” Jade placed his cane in his lap. He didn’t seem to have any inclination of getting back up. “Come to think of it, this is your first time meeting Azul, isn’t it?”

It took you a moment to remember where you heard the name before. The twins had mentioned him as a new person of interest, someone who worked tirelessly to create and enact contracts that were rigged in his favour. Another unsavoury character, no doubt. But when you looked into his eyes, you decided you didn’t hate the resolve you saw in them.

“Azul Ashengrotto.” He held out a hand. “A pleasure to meet you.”

You introduced yourself and shook his hand.

“The twins told me a lot about you.”

It wasn’t hard to tell that Azul was holding in a groan.

“All good things, I hope?”

“Um.” You sifted through your memories. The most outstanding story the twins told you about Azul was something he probably found embarrassing. “Sure.”

He opened his mouth to retort, but before he could even get the words out, Floyd cut him off.

“Hey, why’re you two still standing?”

One second, you were on your feet. The next, you were on your back, staring up at the summer sky peppered with thin, wispy clouds. Floyd’s laughter filled the air on your right, his hand gripping the cane that he used to trip you. Jade’s quiet snickering occupied your left, and Azul’s indignant shouts following a thump on the grass came from above your head. Despite the chaotic nature of the meeting, you felt at ease. That was the start of many summers spent with the four of you, together.

Yeah yeah TNT trap but one bit of the stream that absolutely fascinated me was the neighbours solidarity between Ren Iskall and Beef. Ren and Beef freaking out over Iskall running back and targeting False if they ever let sight of him. Ren's brain having dived into a "it's us against them" mentality and being anxious around the mountain people because of course he does that, it’s his favourite hermit’s life on the line. Of course he would see as some sort of war even though nothing happened. Ren naming their voice chat group something boring and nondescript like “neighbourhood planning” so no one would join. He’s both still Ministering and keeping up with the theatrics by pretending to be in a so painfully boring meeting. Neighbourhood mafia boys trying to kill Bdubs (for False). Iskall being like lmao you guys are stupid. Lol. Anyways.

And it was so funny how when the trap was done, they were like ahhaha lol see you guys later. Or never. We never knew each other.

AND THEN BDUBS LOGGED ON.

Which naturally freaked everyone out. And what was fucking funny is that other people like Grian, Joe, and Hypno were online and aware of the scheme. They even made references to it in chat. Grian and Joe at least were watching Ren’s stream, because of course he was streaming a top secret operation (and Beef later was like WHY ARE YOU EVEN STREAMING and Ren was like 🥺 this is why I’m a bad reaper). But I don’t think anyone snitched. Everyone acted normal, if not nosy.

The part of the stream that charmed me and gave everyone the impression of “oh, we’re REALLY in it now” was when Ren was alone in his Gigahut and someone whispered to him about Bdubs being on. And those three neighbourhood members met up in Ren’s hut and just sat there panicking and talking about Bdubs. It was so tense. They were the image of three scared whimpering people huddled together on a sofa in the relative safety of their neighbourhood (far away from Bdubs’ trap). (On a side note, I’m always glad when builds are somehow the backdrop for dramatic and tense moments because the build instantly feels lived in and the space feels used. Like there’s a core memory attached to the build now.)

And in the end, they decided to venture out to spy on Bdubs. Which they did for an hour. With spyglasses and crouching. And Ren, good old Ren, was pushed centerstage because he was the second reaper to ever exist and still hadn’t gotten a kill AND he was dead set on supporting his False, and since it was the final two, Bdubs has to go.

Watching the hermitchat go by while those three were intensely studying Bdubs like a nature documentary was hilarious. Seemingly nondescript discussions. The trio panicking and then Grian sent out “have faith”, which might be in reference to G’s own fishing thing but the trio took it as a double message for their own plan (since G was watching the stream). All the whispering. It’s killing me. And False logging on, mostly unprotected (because they were all away!!) and Cleo being like yayy I have no allegiance to False I’ll blow up whatever <3 And False saying she needed a miracle and those three were like WE ARE TRYINGGG (False was aware the three were trapping). Ren’s refusal to say something in chat because he’s a red name and he’s tense.

Ren had to be the one to activate the trap (even though Beef was the one who suggested it and Iskall laid out the redstone). SO the other two had to leave him alone while they engaged Bdubs in discussion so Ren could sneak in and blow them up. Our poor reaper had to fly solo with 2.9k people on his stream. “It’s just you and me, chat”. He’s sat there for three hours. He’s missing dinner.

AND BEEF YELLING AT REN TO ACTIVATE THE TRAP WAS SO STRESSFUL. Even when the ruse was up, and even when Beef and Iskall were like hahaha Ren you SUCK so bad, Ren continued with his last shred of hope and absolute last shred of dignity. He lied. And Beef was probably like 👀 Ren hasn’t given up yet! Gotta distract Bdubs more!

I haven’t watched much Beef before this but now I’m quite charmed with him. He’s great with improv, fucking hilarious to bounce off with, and kept calm and steady throughout the operation. I love how him and Iskall had to hold Ren back from charging in like a madman and blowing himself up because doggy self sacrificial tendencies. Beef was the brains and common sense. And I love how supportive he was of Ren the entire time.

Pomefiore has a Persian cat and as annoying as it is they all adore the thing to bits and they always have a lint roller somewhere. Or birdies maybe

Heartslaybul have their hedgehogs and flamingos that they use for croquet

Scarabia prolly has a dog like a random dog they found outside campus that is so random. Like it's full on energy and if you look at it too long it will start running away from you. Maybe a beetle to mess with jamil but he is staying away from it 🧑‍🦯

Octanvile obviously have their little sea friends that they keep in their tank and occasionally wave to ( I know full on well that some students will interact with them. I. Know.)

Ignihyde probably has a cat too a British shorthair for example that they let roam around and wander into people's rooms with little passageways made just for them. It prolly likes Idia a lot with all the treats he gives them. Or a turtle 🤸

Diasomnia prolly has a snake. Idk I just imagine them with a long ass snake just vibing. They probably also have pet rats that didn't get eaten by the snake :)

And Middle schooler mc adores them so much

Like they'd be fascinated with all the animals and being able to see them up close maybe they wouldn't want to touch it at first because they don't want to get bitten but they start warming up to them and will stop by every dorm daily to feed the animals and hang out with it

The heartslaybul group found you playing with the hedgehogs and trying to keep them all in your arms without dropping them. Cater took many pictures of you while Trey brought out treats and their food to give them ace and Deuce joined you in playing with the hedgehogs while Riddle drank tea with you

The savannaclaw trio found you laying with your feet in the pool with their animal next to you laying down CALM. They were shooketh and expected to see you running around with the animal but no. Your just sitting there with your new friend. Ruggie and Jack joined to dip their feet in the pool as Leona pulled up a chair near you to relax with y'all

The fish mafia saw you laying down near the fishtank just looking at the different sea creatures they had and counted the many friends that stopped to look at you then went back to swimming away. Floyd picked you up and took you to the top of the fish tank so you can touch the shark and stingrays. Jade made sure that you didn't fall in and gave you some facts about almost every animal and Azul went to grab the food so you could feed them to your delight. The stingrays splashed and scared you many times with how they vacuumed up their food. (That shit is fucking scary 😨) (you get splashed with water many times)

The two Scarabia students saw you and the dog messing around on the pillows as it tried eating your hair and pulling at it while you were trying to get away from it. Kalim started tickling you and Jamil got some drinks and treats to show you the tricks it's been taught.

The mean girls of Pomefiore saw you sitting on Vils peacock looking chair pampering the cat as it kneaded biscuits on your leg. Vil started pampering you as Epel handed you a juice box and showed you what he has carved recently and Rook gave you some treats to give the cat when you feel like it.

Ortho and Idia saw you walking around ignihyde with the cat following you. Ortho leads you to Idias room to relax and just talk about your day while Idia gives you some pomegranate flavored treats for the cat to eat and some pomegranate flavored chocolate for you to eat.

The diasomnia group found you at the table playing with a rat that was failed to be eaten and the snake coiling around your body. Malleus sat with you and played with the snake as you conversed with him as Lilia fed the rat some food and gave you some sunflower seeds to eat . Silver almost dozed off if it weren't for the rat fucking slapping him with it's small ass hands and Sebek poured tea for you all and helped with homework you had (Sebek has a soft spot for middle schooler mc and doesn't really yell around them. you can't say shit about it)

Meister + Weapons Head canons TWST EDITION ✨

I heard the opening to the intro of the anime in 2024 and was like "omg" I used to be so hyper fixated (but never read the manga, I think I might this year) But now of recently I am highly fixated onto Twisted Wonderland! And I wanted to combine the two and give out my personal head canons of the characters either being meisters or weapons if they went to DWMA than NRC!

Heartslabyul

Riddle - Riddle would definitely be a meister! With being the dorm leader and all, he was definitely raised to be a fitted meister and the best of the academy! He would definitely probably be the type to try and follow in his mother's steps due to his past with her. But even though he trips up, he doesn't give up.

Trey - Trey seems like he would be a weapon. Just the vibes he gives off, he seems like the type who would try and support his meister (this case being Riddle) to the best of his ability. Trey weapons form would definitely be some sort of scythe. Something fitting for Riddle to hold of course.

Ace - 100% a weapon. I just want to see someone use him to whack someone. And he would be used as some sort of sword. There ain't much I can add onto this about him.

Deuce - He would at first be a rebel and refuse to become a meister. But knowing how his mother was worried about him, he promised to become the best meister that there is and maybe become one to protect his mother. He studies hard to become the best and will train whenever he can get his weapon to train with him! (Looking at you Ace!)

Cater - He is the only one in his family that is probably a weapon. But he masked himself as a meister so others couldn't tell about it.

Savanaclaw

Leona - He is a meister, his whole family is meisters in the Kingscholar family. Their weapons are paid well for serving them. He isn't one who will fight duels, but he does when it is important and when needed.

Ruggie - I'll keep this one brief! Ruggie would be a weapon, he tries to say he was a meister right ar orientation but Leona was quick to call his bluff. He is Leona's weapon for the money, and also, didn't we all play twst? We know how close the two are so I have no doubt that Ruggie would be Leona's weapon.

Jack - He would be some type of meister. He watched Leona's spelldrive tournament and if, a hard IF, Leona ended up competing (maybe against Malleus if anything) It would have sparked Jack to be like Leona. But after chapter 2 , he will work on being a meister that is good for him.

Octavinelle

Since the three are pretty much paired up together! I'm going to keep both Azul and the twins into this one to make it easy on me to type!

Azul would be a meister and the twins would be weapons.

I wanted to keep the thought of the meme "mafia fishes" in thoughts when thinking of them. That being said, I can only imagine Jade and Floyd being some type of weapons of guns!

Why do I think this? Come on!

Scarabia

Kalim - Kalim would be a meister, but it isn't something he would take seriously, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know when to get serious. In all honesty, he might be the one you wouldn't want to cross due to the fact that his family is full of meisters and the Viper family is filled with weapons.

Jamil - Unfortunately for him, he would still have to serve Kalim even after moving away from home and into the school. He is willing to fulfill his duties in his family to protect the Al-Asim's (Kalim's family) son and will go as far to using his own body. Vil - Meister. Hands down, he would be so beautiful while fighting. He will move so gracefully! I actually had a hard time thinking about this, because I didn't want to make it obvious about him being a meister and Rook a weapon! But also, he will definitely try and model Epel into being a meister like him, while also fully supporting his style of using his weapon.

Rook - He is Vil's weapon like said before. I also like to think before they realized they were each other's meister and weapon, when Rook was in Savanaclsw he wanted to try and be used by Vil first hand. He transformed into a weapon best suited for Vil, I am not so sure what kind of weapon he would be and what would Vil use.

Epel - He fights back so hard when Vil tries to model him to be like him. He is thankful for the few sons but he wishes to fight in his own style. He does well, but he hasn't figured out his fighting form yet which causes him to trip up often.

So like what I did for Octavinelle, I am going to put Idia and Ortno together.

It all started when they were younger and found out that Idia was a meister and his weapon being Ortho, they were best of friends, best brothers ever! More than just bonding over video games... However, it led to an incident where Ortho died while the two fought the monsters who had escaped after trying to sneak out.

With guilt, Idia made O. R. T. H. O, an AI weapon that is like the robot we see of Ortho now, his body can transform without magic, and while he still feels the connection of being his brother's weapon, Idia has guilt about what happened that day, and refuses to ever use O. R. T. H. O to fight his battles ever again.

It causes damage for them being meister / weapon but it's a bit of an angst idea for thinking of them!

Diasomnia

Malleus - A meister, one of the strongest from his family. He trained under Lilia for many reasons. He uses both Silver and Sebek to keep his guards close

Sebek and Silver - Both being guards for Malleus, they are his weapons too to protect the young prince. Both sworn to even use their bodies off needed to protect him.

Lilia - A meister, he fought in a war and definitely used Baul to become victorious!

Bonus: I wouldn't get descriptive here! I am just going to say if I think the Staff, RSA, and Rollo are weapons and meisters

Azul-Yutu Thoughts 0.3

As inspired by @yuri-is-online and their Future Yutu AU. Go read it, it's good.

The first time Yutu ever gets a chance to talk to Jade for real is after a full day of wandering campus looking for stories about overblot phantoms, monsters, and mages. As such, Yutu's understandably tired, especially since it's edging into proper night now, the clock above the bar ticking softly away as Jade wipes down the counter.

After summarily kicking Crewel out of Octavinelle with a snide reassurance that he'll 'behave,' Yutu was a little startled by how normal and unpersonalized their next few minutes of interaction were.

Do you have any allergies? No. Any strong dislikes? Uh, why? This is an establishment for food and drink, it'd be remiss if me not to feed you. Do I have to pay? Hm, no, not today. Alright... I- guess I don't like spicy things? Oh, also no carrots or celery. And nothing too chunky in my drink, I don't like smoothies! I suppose I can accommodate.

Yutu takes a moment to sit at the bar, spinning around once on the stool before stopping to look Jade up and down. He'd never heard of this person from Yuu, who'd struggled to recall his dad even on their best days. Who was this person to him? An uncle? An ally? Did Jade blame him or his parent for abandoning Azul, however unwillingly? Yutu scrutinizes Jade's appearance, looking for hints as to what his whole deal is.

The first thing that comes to mind is that Jade looks... Tired. No dark bags under his eyes, so he's sleeping, but there's a deliberateness to his movements that tells of trying not to shake, or perhaps of distraction. Jade also doesn't move from his spot much and is slow to rise when ducking below the counter to fish out ingredients, which is another point in the tired category, or perhaps the start of one that screams low blood sugar.

Hey, whatever you're making for me, make some for yourself too. Mm. I mean it. If you're stealing ingredients or whatever to do this, you may as well get something out of it too. Truly benevolent, aren't you? Very well then.

It doesn't take long for Jade and Yutu to have matching salads and glasses of water, which Yutu raises an eyebrow at. It's a struggle not to comment on how, for all that Jade is insisting on feeding him, this is kind of a cheapskate meal. Jade seems to read right through him though and explains that they're still waiting on the next round of supplies to come through; the gardens can supply vegetables and there's apples, canned goods, and nonperishables aplenty, but things like milk or eggs are much harder to come by.

And, Jade comments with a sharp-toothed grin that Yutu immediately clocks as a mer thing, alcohol is more profitable than ever. Not that you're of age, of course. Yutu debates the merits of commenting, figures discretion is the better part of valor (Jade seems too eager to hear his remarks and that screams fishy) and shuts up to eat his salad.

Jade takes his win with good grace and explains how he, Azul, and his- he hesitates for a moment- twin all went to school together. Octavinelle flourished under Azul's care as house warden and he and his brother helped him hang onto control, acting to smooth things out when things got... Rough. Yutu snorts and tries to hide it, snidely commenting that the trio sound like the mafia. Jade laughs a little too, slightly forced, and says that Yuu said the exact same thing when Azul explained their duties to them.

Yutu is surprised at this and asks if Yuu went to school with his father too, which Jade confirms, proceeding to explain their rather dramatic entrance into NRC and how Yuu came to agree to date Azul; something about an overly complicated meal, a broken microwave, and a promise about never going hungry again. All very romantic, Jade assures Yutu dryly, although a bit insufferable for him and his brother, who had to ensure Azul survived the pinning phase first.

Yutu immediately opens up about what little he knows of Azul and what Yuu had told him, hoping for confirmation, a solidification of what he knows. What Jade does instead is smirk and proceed to rip apart the honey-golden nostalgia and replace it with goofy tales of how his father was actually a bit of a dork.

Yutu had deliberately told Jade some of the sappier things he knew about Azul because he pinned Jade as being a tease and the man would likely contradict whatever spin he put on his dad. This, though? Yutu isn't sure what to do with this; he'd expected flaws or ways his father got angry or unreasonable, not 'flaws' and hidden affection. Azul... His dad was really loved, huh.

Yutu tries to stretch out his last few bites of salad, uncertain and trying not to show it. If Yuu loved his dad so much, if Jade teased but couldn't hide how much he missed him, if Crewel spoke of Azul's talents and intelligence so highly, then how should Yutu feel? All he has to go on is what other people tell him and he doesn't yet know if he wants to love Azul too, let alone if he will come to love the real Azul or the Azul people loved. Stories and real people are so rarely similar, after all.

Seeing Yutu get quieter and quieter, Jade figures that he's tired and politely starts urging Yutu to head to bed. Yutu agrees, hesitates, then asks if he can come talk to Jade again. Jade is a little surprised because he thought it was a given, then a little surprised at himself for so easily falling back into old habits. Just an hour or so in the presence of a boy who looks so much like his old friend, and he's ready to accommodate him. Ha, how foolish...

Jade keeps his thoughts behind his teeth and agrees with a smile, urging Yutu to drop by at least once a week as Jade works most evenings and on Sunday afternoons from 10 to 6. Yutu furrows his brow, pointing out that 10 is hardly in the afternoon, Jade croons about how Yutu must wake up so late in the day if he thinks 10 is in the morning, Yutu grumbles, Jade teases and urges Yutu to get to bed sooner or else noon may start looking like morning too.

Yutu decides to let Jade get the last laugh for now and heads out, leaving Jade to the silence of Octavinelle. He doesn't look back but if he were to do so, he'd see how Jade would look oddly diminished now that he's alone, hovering over the bar top like a specter as if he doesn't know what else to do with himself.

Jade stares after Yutu, gaze distant, before turning back to the dirty dishes on the counter. The salad plates are swept up easily enough but the water glasses- Jade pushes them so they're next to each other, identical in their emptiness. He stares for another moment, then places an empty purple coffee mug in front of the two glasses, making a neat trio. He returns to the sink to wash the dishes, the camera remains focused on the cups as Jade fades into the background, and the screen fades to black.

Okay I’ve already done secretly engaged Leona and Ace but I raise you secretly engaged Kalim and Ace.

So they are arranged to be married by Ace’s grandmother and Kalim’s parents. No one else knows about the arrangement except for Ace’s Father and brother, as well as Dire Crowley. Not even Jamil knows

The two of them aren’t allowed to reveal their engagement as a way to prevent any assassin attempts towards Ace. The alternative was having Jamil work double the amount and neither Kalim or Ace liked that idea

Ace and Kalims romance is rather slow, it takes them years to realize that they are in love with each other let alone confess to each other. It’s a slow build of sweet and tender love that develops into a passionate undying love. I feel like, since Crowley knows, he would be incredibly invested and would talk about their romance like it was a romance drama. (No one ralizes he’s talking about Ace and Kalim)

Now Ace and Kalim are incredibly good at hiding their relationship. Even when they slip up no one suspects a thing, for example:

Let’s say after book 4 when Ace and Deuce arrive near the end. Ace is mother henning everyone (You can not tell me that Ace isn’t secretly the Mom friend) Anyway the fish mafia are teasing Ace about this, Yuu and Grim are used to it by now, Jamil is confused and slightly delirious, and no one notices how Ace lingers on Kalim longer than necessary. How Ace seems to put extra care in making sure Kalim was okay. How Kalim was gently reassuring that he wasn’t hurt. No one notices due to the situation, Kalims personality, and Ace mother henning everyone.

Another Example:

After Playful land, as everyone is heading back NRC, Ace has a panic attack. No one knows what to do but then Kalim steps up and helps Ace calm down. Kalim is hugging him and Jack and Ortho are shocked because they know that Ace doesn’t like being touched during a panic attack. They brush it off at it being Kalim because Kalim is literally a sunshine incarnate.

These two are so good at hiding their relationship that even Crowley forgets that they’re together.

EVEN IN THEIR DREAMS IN BOOK 7!

They subconsciously know that no one can know. The only hint is their wedding rings in their individual dreams (little thing is while they’re all dream hopping Kalim and Ace keeps their rings because that aspect of the dream was true)

At the end of book 7 Ace and Kalim share a kiss shocking Jamil, Yuu, and grim who were the only ones who saw.

(Random but in book 5 Rook and Vil definitely could sense the budding romance between Ace and Kalim)

I don’t have much else but I think the slow romance between them would be beautiful

Jamil not knowing about it would be funnier because he now needs to investigate Ace to see if he's a threat but also it means he's lowkey bullying his charge's fiancée lmao

Octa-trio teasing Ace for his mother henning end up with a sweet smile and a kick to the stomach whilst Ace goes to focus on Kal because he appreciates his mother henning (no one notices the extra touches)

Everyone figuring it out through the RINGS and not the fact that those two are extremely touchy to each inheritance would honestly be hilarious and absolutely something that NRC students would do

Shrimpy's Log 002: New Year Schemes

Cater and Ruggie knew that Azul, Jade and Floyd would return for another match, and the dread outweighed the celebration of their most recent victory.

Seeing you in the crowd came as a huge relief. You were even-tempered and sweet, and even if it would be hard to convince you to spend more money than necessary (managing Ramshackle meant you had to be a practical spender, after all), talking to you would undoubtedly ease the nerves. Especially since you knew the horrors of Octavinelle all too well, and could easily sympathize with their plight.

"Hi Cater, hi Ruggie! Having a pleasant shift, I hope?"

It didn't take long to figure out that they were not, in fact, having a pleasant shift--at least not with the fish mafia prowling about. You seemed to catch on to their source of anxiety a little too quickly.

"It's that game Sam's introduced this year, isn't it?" You deduce. "Three versus two... that's not very fair, especially when Floyd's practically two people on his own."

"That's not our only concern," Ruggie replies, tactfully keeping his voice out of earshot from the nearby merpeople. "Jade and Azul keep coming back with better and better strategies, and Floyd's accumulating more skill with each round, even if he isn't abiding by anything the other two have to say. We've managed to come through a few times so far, but..."

"...but Azul's relentless," You nod. "Yeah, I know. So, what about your strategy?"

"Not exactly my strong suit," Cater chimes in. "Ruggie's doing fine on that end, but there's not much to strategize. We already studied all the tips and tricks before this whole thing started."

"Of course there's plenty to strategize. Those three aren't infallible, you know," you reply, eyes sparkling. Your cheerful expression was far too innocent for the blunt analysis that followed. "Floyd's definitely the best athlete, but he's also the easiest to take down. It's not hard to put him in a bad mood--the most surefire way to do that would be to get Azul to berate him, and if you want to get Azul to berate Floyd, you just have to make Floyd so excited that he starts tuning Azul out. Not even Jade and Azul can control Floyd's mood."

...fair enough, Ruggie and Cater supposed. They weren't expecting that to be the 'strategy' you had in mind, but in all fairness, you were around the Octa-trio more than the rest of them.

"The second biggest weakness to exploit is Azul," you say. "I'm sure you remember from Beanfest, Cater--Azul's not exactly the most enthusiastic when it comes to... well... physical fitness as we experience it on land. He's crazy strong, but his speed and agility aren't there. He thinks strategy is enough to compensate for it--and ordinarily, it is--but if you target him over Jade, that's where you'll get the slip-up you need. Jade's the most composed and, like Floyd, he's pretty competent with all land games that aren't heavily reliant on flying, so to throw him off, your best bet is to convince him that it would be more fun to see Azul frustrated than it would be to receive the prize of victory. He's a sucker for all things entertaining."

Cater and Ruggie blink at you with wide eyes, but you don't seem to even notice.

"Say, do you guys have spackle for sale? Ramshackle's crumbling again, I have some walls I need to patch up," you say nonchalantly, completely moving on from your strategic tirade as if it'd never happened in the first place.

It was a fortunate outcome--once Ruggie and Cater helped you find all the things you needed to find (you'd already planned to shop in bulk, since Ramshackle had a lot of unmet needs and the New Year prices were extremely generous), you owed enough to earn yourself a few rounds of hanetsuki. Cater and Ruggie didn't seem particularly threatened by the idea of taking you on, which was kind of offensive, but you understood. You didn't seem as threatening without your usual crew (Ace, Deuce, Grim) around for backup.

Less fortunately, at least for Cater and Ruggie, was that Azul, Jade and Floyd were back to play, and the two had nowhere to hide. Floyd greeted you with a hug while Jade curiously poked at all the stuff you bought, but Azul's sharp blue eyes were focused on the prize.

"I believe we're due for another round," he remarks confidently.

"Coincidentally, I've earned myself a round as well," you chime in, turning to Ruggie and Cater. "Though I suppose three versus two is rather uneven. Can I join your side?"

Immediately your friends--on both sides--began to sputter at you.

"T-That's not the rules!" Azul accuses. Clearly, you joining Cater and Ruggie would completely wipe his strategy. Jade, however, seems greatly amused by the prospect.

"What a wonderful idea," he chuckles. "After all, you shouldn't have to fight this battle alone, you poor, unfortunate thing."

"The prefect could be on our side," Azul snaps. "Why should they join the enemy--ahem, the employees?"

"Hate to break it to ya, hon, but Zulie's right," Cater notes. "It's so totally cute you wanna be all even and all, but the game is that you challenge us."

"I'll pay double," you counter simply. "I need 50 for a round, right? Well, how about 100 lets me play with you? I'm not gonna win on my own anyway, I've seen Ruggie play spelldrive and you, Cater, were a little too competent during Beanfest. Since it's more profitable for you guys that way, I'm sure Sam wouldn't oppose."

Ruggie raises his eyebrows, but after some thinking, grins.

"We do have to win against Vil and Sebek," he reminds Cater. "And there's no rules saying we can't do that. Gotta take the opportunity when it's handed to us, right? No holding back."

"Now hold on!" Azul snaps again, before turning to you. "Why do you wanna join their side? Are you plotting against me?"

You raise your hands in mock innocence. "I'd rather play a fun game with my friends than suffer a crushing defeat by my lonesome. Besides, I know you have a strategy in mind, Azul--one that doesn't accommodate me joining your team. Do you really see me as that much of a threat?"

In the end, only Azul protests the decision, though Floyd and Jade are so enthusiastic about 'playing against Shrimpy' that Azul's protests fade to the background. He ends up agreeing, only after you put on a show of apologizing to Ruggie and Cater for having no experience in the game whatsoever, and after Cater had to thoroughly explain to you how to handle the hagoita. With that settled, the games begin.

...your strategy works like a charm of course. Floyd was so, so excited to 'play with Shrimpy' that he was entirely distracted throughout the first half of the game, causing Azul to snap at him and put Floyd in a terrible mood. Jade was so amused by the disaster that he purposefully half-assed the rest of the game, driving Azul even more up a wall, and eventually Azul slipped up, causing the Octavinelle team to lose once again.

"Bah! We could've had that!" He growls. "One more time. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to spend another 50 thaumarks..."

He and Jade make their tactical retreat, with Jade grinning like it was the best day of his life. Floyd lingers behind, his foul mood still written over his face.

Luckily, he was just as easy to cheer up as he was to upset. You approach your friend with a peace offering and a hug, shoving a small box in his hands from the stack of items you'd purchased earlier.

"I bought that for you. You mentioned wanting to try new candy a while back, so when I saw all those weird candies on sale, I figured you'd wanna try 'em." That much was true. You'd intended to save that candy for a more special occasion, but it was a worthy sacrifice.

Floyd perks right up, returning the hug and thanking you before returning to his twin and his housewarden as if the last match hadn't happened at all. Then you turn to Cater and Ruggie, smiling innocently.

"Thanks for that," says Cater with a smile. "You really are one clever little prefect. We owe you one."

"You do, in fact," you reply in that sweet tone of yours. "One golden ticket, to be exact. I was on the winning team of hanetsuki, after all. The rules were explicitly clear that the winning team earns a ticket."

"Huh? I don't follow."

"Wait..." Ruggie trails, a horrified look appearing on his face as he starts to piece it together. "You didn't... you didn't join us to help us out against Octavinelle, did you?"

"Well, of course I did," you say, your tone as sweet and charismatic as ever. "I know those three like the back of my hand. I've found myself on the receiving end of their tireless ambition and relentless schemes too many times to count. If Azul got his hand on that ticket, he'd use it to its fullest value, you know that."

"You tricked us!" Ruggie replies, scowling. "Ugh, I should've known better than to trust that innocent act of yours."

"Hehe--awe, don't be so upset Ruggie. I learned from the best. You can thank yourself--and Leona--for teaching me how to think strategically," you wink. "Aren't you proud? I've come so far from being that unassuming prefect who signs contracts blindly, don't you think?"

Cater hands you a golden ticket, which you hold with visible awe and excitement. Ruggie shoots Cater a look, as if he might've been able to bend the rules and keep you from cashing in on your prize--but the Heartslabyul junior didn't seem too bothered about being outsmarted.

"You're a smart little freshman cookie, Prefect. I suppose you no longer need Cay-Cay to look out for you," He teases. "Here's your prize. Got anything in mind you want to spend it on? Something cammable, perhaps?"

"Hmm... I don't know..." you muse. You catch the look on Ruggie's face--a look of masked anxiety--and you decide to offer some consolation. "Awe, Rug-Bug, relax. The most expensive items in the store are magical--items I have very little use for. Of course, I could go through the trouble of selling said items and making a profit, but I won't do that to you. There are a lot of practical items I need--items to improve the quality of life at Ramshackle--so I'll stick down that lane. This ticket isn't such a major loss for you."

You pause, taking some time to read the text on the ticket.

"And besides," you add cheerfully. "As much as I love Vil and Sebek, I'm not gonna let you guys lose your little competition against them. You helped me, now I help you. I'll be sure to send a lot of people your way, people you could easily beat in hanetsuki, yeah? I do have quite the influence, after all."

With that said, you spun on your heel and disappeared into the shop, looking for something to spend your ticket on. Cater and Ruggie watched you go, still shocked by your tactical move.

You weren't the same naive freshman you were last year, that's for sure.

If nobody's asked for it yet, can you do a 5+ headcannons for the KHR/LoZ au?

Out of the three of the Triforce Trio Link was the only one who had a parent who paid any of them any sort of attention, but his dad died before they started middle school. Nana agreed to have him over until the legal things were sorted out and never seemed to notice that he never left. Legally speaking Nana has guardianship over Link after Zelda and Tsuna came up with a plan to trick her into signing custody papers.

Nana spends most of her time in Italy with Iemitsu but still has no idea about the whole mafia thing. He has a whole second house that she makes a home for the two of them and neither of them really think about their son they left behind to fend for himself even though neither of them shut up about their little Tuna-fish and how much he’s grown and how mature of a boy he is.

Zelda is in kind of the same boat as Tsuna but her dad is actually working and does at least make time to call and talk to her whenever he can. Never at convenient hours and never for long because he always has another deal to make, and it honestly makes her feel more lonely than if he never called at all. Even when he’s home he doesn’t realize that Zelda spends most of her time at Tsuna’s after she “goes to bed” for the night. (Link showed her how to climb out her window years ago and after a few times with him and Tsuna spotting her she swears she could do it in her sleep. She tries not to think about how she grows ever more convinced she could just walk out the front door and her dad wouldn’t even notice) He just thinks she’s an early riser.

Link never came out to the others exactly and honestly has never thought to put a name to what they are exactly. They just started referring to themself with different pronouns one day and the others followed suit.

Link can talk but mostly doesn’t. Even when they do it is rarely higher than a whisper… unless they’re fighting. Tsuna and Zelda are all too happy to act as translators and, once others start joining their strange little family, they all take it upon themselves to learn sign so they can understand their friend. Which is fortunate because Reborn was absolutely planning on teaching them himself if they didn’t take that initiative and his methods would have been far more drastic.

IS THAT FLOYD" Ace yelled at my ear earing the attention of the other 2 "Are you stalking Floyd's magicam account!?" Epel yelled. "What? Ofcourse not!" I resorted back in denial. Jack and Sebek now standing behind me, Adeuce in front of me and Epel at my side.

"Then what ARE you doing?" Deuce questioned, "Do you have a crush on him~?" Ace teased, "Why Floyd of all people? Waka-sama is right here! or even Silver is better than him!" Sebek chimed in.

"Crush!? Nononono, im just happen to stumble into his account and decided to look at it for a moment and support him:)" I explained with a blank stare and a pink hue dusting my cheeks. "What kind of support is that?" Jack scoffed suspiciously "The "Social media" support" I rolled my eyes still in denial. "Now shoo, and lets study. We have a quiz tommorow" closing my phone and sat down at the floor ready to study.

"We have a quiz!?" Deuce and Epel panicked. "Why else would we have a group study?" Jack just sigh out of pure dissapointment

*During class*

"Henchman, you're staring at Azul again" Grim stated in an annoyed tone but has an unbothered expression. "I am not" i whispered so Professor Trein won't caught us. "Yes you are!" "Prefect. Grim. Keep it down and focus on the discussion." Great, he noticed us. Everyone is now staring at us! Even Azul! This is so embarassing...

"Sorry sir.." I muttered out an apology as i bowed my head a bit. "Back to the discussion-" Professor Trein continued and 15 minutes later, he stopped writing on the board, turned around and looked at my direction "Miss/Mister L/n. Are you going to pay attention to class or are you just going to stare at Ashengrotto the entire time of my class?" Shit...

When professor said that as everyone in class looked at me, earning a bunch of "Oh~~" "Ayieee~" and whats worse is that even Azul was staring at me!

He looked completely flustered, glasses tilted and fogged and mouth gaping. He just looked away and trying to gain his composure back...

"Ohh Azul~~" "Ayiee Azul, may nag ka-ka crush saiyo~(oh Azul~, somebody has a crush on you~)" our classmates said. Then Professor trein spoke again, "Everyone settle down. L/n, this is your last warning. Pay attention to class as all of you have quiz tommorow" everybodies attention shifted back to him, some completely flabergasted(Aduece and Grim)

"Now, back to the discussion" I payed attention this time as i dont want to fail tommorow and embarass my self again. But, i took one last peak at Azul and he was staring right back, pink hue dusting his cheeks....

When he saw me staring he completely adverted his gaze into the board, trying not to blush.

*At lunch*

"God, save me from this hell..." i whispered to my self and burried my face into my hand as all the first years are laughing at me. Even Grim!

"YOU CANT BE SERIOUS!?" Ace was laughing his ass of along with Deuce

Epel was shaking while covering his mouth so he wouldn't burst out laughing since Vil would kill him

Jack tried to look dissapointed but his face was trying not to smile plus, his tail was waging slightly.

Sebek was mocking laughing at me so loud...

"Fuck you guys. Im just gonna order something for my self only" I stand up and walked to the server?cooks?lunch ghost? Or whatever their called.

Mr. Crewel gave us a performance task to finish in 2 weeks. He grouped us and each group has 4 people to do the task. (Un)luckly i was grouped with, "A-kun" from Octavinelle, Jamil and....Jade. Fuck

How am i suppose to focus with him around!? Like, its not a BAD thing its just that Jade was my first "crush" here in NRC.

We meet 2 weeks before the entire contract fiassco. And when i first saw him, Lord have mercey...

He was absoloutely gorgeous! He was tending his mushrooms and the lighting being a payed actor at that moment.

I was standing about 20ft away from him so i can still see him looking at his mushrooms so fondly? Lovingly? With his face resting on his prompted up hand. God i wish he'd look at me like that...

He noticed me and smiled. From that day on, we talked frequently until, i got roped into Azul's contact to "save" 200 student from his hands..

I had mixed feeling about Jade during the entire chaos happening, but all was cleared at the end of it

I cant belive I still have feelings for him...

Sitting here, trying not to explode while Jade is stading behind me, face next to mine, whispering to me on what to do, his right hand holding mine, guiding it and his left hand on top of my shoulders....

  Yuu was a strange person, to say the least. They were usually calm, thoughtful, and even kind. However, they did tend to sit back and watch amused at all the chaos they encountered. A bit after the overblot incident, Yuu ended up working part-time at Azuls astablishment. Whether it be with singing for customers or easing students into feeling less tense at the thought of a contract.

"My dear sweet child, that's what I do. It's what I live for."

Like usual, Yuu was cleaning up a bit after their shift and decided it was a good time to practice singing. Usually, they wouldn't sing songs from their world, but at the moment, no customers were present, and everything was closed. They hummed a bit, dancing slightly as they began slightly acting out the scene.

"Miserable lonely and depressed, pathetic"

Yuu sang while cleaning dancing a bit, remembering the scene perfectly. It was their favorite movie, after all. Meanwhile, Jade had heard some singing and stood shocked as he looked at his friend singing. Only a few seconds later, Jade was now watching with an amused smile as Floyd, who got there only seconds after Jade, was doing the same.

"The men up there don't like a lot of blather."

Azul, confused as to why the twins were gone, had walked to where they stood. Of course, he, too, now witnessed the slightly dramatic dancing from yuu as they sang. The Fish Mafia Trio now all watching from the sidelines.

"Come on, you Poor Unfortunate Soul!"

Not noticing until they finished singing, they smiled at the trio, realizing the three probably saw the whole thing. Not embarrassed, they had sung at the Lounge quite a bit after all, they gladly and dramatically bowed when Jade clapped. Not minding how only a few seconds later Floyd almost squeezed them to death as he complimented the song. (In his own way)

"What an interesting song, wherever you learn it?"

Azul asks, only to get a smile that reminds him of the twins just a bit too much. Yuu simply shrugged.

"Just a part of my world."
