Around the World or: 2550+7
Salutations™!! On Saturday, The BCPF and I made an international trip without leaving the state. We headed to Greensboro where we visited a business I have been VERY excited for, Scottish Gourmet USA. I don’t have to explain how much I love all things Scottish. We purchased haggis, black pudding, and back bacon. We also got some clementine and malt whisky marmalade, Laphroaig Handmade Fudge,…

Finnigan's Wake to close for good Oct. 30
Finnigan’s Wake to close for good Oct. 30
This is a reprint of the Winston-Salem Journal article, it is not mine, I don’t own it. Michael is my cohost and he wrote it for the Journal. Here is the original article. I just wanted the copyright issue out of the way. Finnigan’s Wake, a mainstay bar and restaurant downtown for 15 years, has announced it will close permanently on Oct. 30. Owner Philip “Opie” Kirby” posted an announcement on…

He Occasionally Takes an Alcoholiday or: The Wake (2543 + 14)
Salutations™!! Today, I learned some very sad news. Finnigan’s Wake will be closing its doors permanently on October 30. Finnigan’s Wake is THE reason the Arts District in Downtown Winston-Salem exploded in to ’00s. Yes, there were other now-staples such as Sweet Potatoes and 6th & Vine, but none had the impact that Fins did. But, for me, the impact was even more than reinvigorating an area of…

Yawn or: All By Myself
Yawn or: All By Myself
Salutations™!!
The BCPF and I are worn out! A long day of flying and waiting and walking and carrying bags and, and, and, and! We finally got home around 6pm this evening and I went on to trivia because I didn’t want Our Jim to be alone. Turns out, we had no representation other than me. The BCPF was catching up and getting ready for her week while Our Jim had a fantasy football draft to do.

My Other Family or: Dinner Together
My Other Family or: Dinner Together

Like I said, it was totally impromptu. I saw some rumblings about it on our private Facebook page and I played it off. I had plans to go to another event, so, whatever.…
