i want to destroy the god king and begin an anarchist uprising. culminating in participating in the aftermath building a new world
You and me both buddy. Let’s get started.
THEME: Destroy God
Dethrone Skeleton God, by emmy verse.
DETHRONE SKELETON GOD. THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO.
In this gmless role playing game you will set out on a journey to find and dethrone the aforementioned god. You will need some d6s, a d12, and some writing materials.
This game pulls a lot of inspiration from some pretty stellar games, including No Stone Unturned, EXTRACAUSAL, Trophy, and Blades in the Dark. You will play racing against three Fallout Tracks, which track the collapse of the material world, the immaterial world, and the Skeleton God’s Power. When all tracks are full, the game is over, and you narrate how the world ends.
If nobody in your group wants the burden/responsibility of running a game, this game is an excellent option as it is both GM-less and lightweight. It’s only 16 pages long and covers creating location elements and exploring them as a group. Everything is collaborative, so if you’re interested in games that let you come up with a story together as you go, you might want to check out this game.
Dead Gods, by Trollish Delver Games.
After the Cataclysm of Heaven it all changed. Murdered gods fell from the sky, sundering the land and casting their sacred relics about the world. From the woodwork crawl Warcults, scavengers of god-relics to further their own twisted gains. The Eternal seek power over death itself. The Order of the Stars seek relics to unlock god-like omniscience. The Pale Druids imbibe relics to acquire power over nature itself. The Black Maw will create a new, hungrier god under their control.
Pick up a lovingly-designed weird cult and pit them against your friend in a desperate effort to grab a sacred god-relic in this miniatures skirmish game. Each player will control a number of different kinds of war cult members, and there are 4 war cults to embody in the upcoming skirmish. Great for PvP and lovers of combat, but if you want narrative you’ll want to pick up something else or mostly RP it out. You can also check out Unholy Scavengers, for more relics, more scenarios, more models - more more more!
Karanduun - Make God Bleed, by makapatag.(@makapatag)
Karanduun is a modern Filipino Epic RPG about worthless heroes dismantling God, whatever cycle of oppression that must be. Inspired by modern Filipino folklore and culture. You play as young heroes who must make their legend known and become a legendary Karanduun by making God (whichever oppressive system and tyrant that is) bleed.
Lovers of Kill Six Billion Demons will probably get a big kick out of this game. The god Batala is already dead, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for some rebellion of your own. There are demons, corrupt angels, and other Kings of the Earth to defeat, in a post-American world inspired by the Philippines. If you’re looking for some narrative play, this game has got you covered, with rules inspired by Exalted 1e and PbtA. You can check out the physical version of this game on SoulMuppet’s website!
Skorne, by Dreaming Dragonslayer.
You are renegades, part of mankind’s insurrection against SKORNE who is devil prince, commander of demon rulers and their armies, and the darkness that reigns. Overthrow the evil Tyrants. Free chained captives. Fight to the last man.
Part of the NSR movement, Skorne is inspired by media such as Berserk, MORK BORG, and games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring. The game itself is only 4 pages long, with a really interesting system for character creation. You roll for your abilities and then use their values to determine your starting kit. The language in the game is also great for putting you into the fiction, such as the instructions found for character name choice:
“In the beginning, give thy renegade a name, though it will not save them.”
You want gritty and dire circumstances? You want to kill demon princes? You wanna play a game with random tyrant generation? This is for you.
Extreme Meatpunks Forever, by Sinister Beard Games.
"In the beginning, there was meat. A decaying chunk of flesh from a dying god, hurtling through the void of space, thousands of miles wide. A million eyes, a billion hands grasping for purchase against nothingness itself. This is where we live.”
EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER is a tabletop roleplaying game where you’ll play as a gang of queer antifascists in a strange place called Meatworld. Spinning through space on the screaming corpse of a dead god under the glow of an absent sun, the people of Meatworld harvest its flesh to make their technology.
Embody your queer rage and kill fascists in meat-mechs in Extreme Meatpunks Forever. A PbtA game, this option is narrative-heavy and allows you to pick from some pretty metal weapons, including (but not limited to) Excellent Seasoning, A Bit Stick What Has Shrapnel In It, and Deathfucker Cannon. In your downtime, you can kiss your friends and work to heal and deal with your trauma. If you want a game that feels metal and also presents you with extremely punchable enemies, this is your game!

An online friend sent me this video on Nov 10, and I immediately started taking notes on it, lol.
There is nothing better/worse than a white dude learning about arnis and getting So Fascinated by it. Thank the gods that he has a Filipino friend.
The first few minutes are generally a solid if brief history: Eskrima/kalis/arnis started as a commoner’s art with no official “system,” aside from being practical, deadly, and using a variety of weapons.
Spain came around and forbid blade usage, hence the transition into the now-famous sticks. Speaking of which, Filipinos killed Magellan using the bladed version of eskrima. Like… A LOT of Filipinos. Magellan and 49 Spaniards just rolled up to a full army of 1,500 natives and assumed, “Well, we have guns, so we’ll be fiiiiiiiiiiine!” Fuck around and find out, colonizer.
The thing that jumped out at me was the comment about eskrima being “hidden in dance and play,” which is likely referring to two things: The maglalatik dance is specifically a war dance. I don’t know if that’s “hidden,” so much as “this is literally supposed to be practice for young men to learn how to fight, and for seasoned fighters to keep in shape.”
The other might be the common old wives’ tale saying that kalis fighters practiced to music. This is something that I’ve only seen done 1) for performances/displays where no actual fighting was going on, or 2) to pull foreigners’ legs about secret Pinoy techniques. Some people call it “cheesy,” and I personally think some guys saw Pinoys sparring to their workout playlist (or the historical equivalent), and they thought we did that all the time.
Like, nobody minds if a white guy spars with “Eye Of The Tiger” blasting because maybe he just likes working out to music, but when a Filipino guy/group spars with eskrima to their favorite beats, suddenly it’s a “time-honored tradition?” I haven’t seen any dance-battlers mentioned in the Boxer Codex or other records, so until someone has evidence, I won’t say it’s historical.
Regarding the hands-on stuff: I feel like they intentionally skipped the most boring stuff, either so the video would be more exciting, or to just fuck with poor Martin. Like, they handed this poor man a stick right off the bat and started him out with hitting stuff and sparring? Where is the training montage??? Was all of it cut???
Also, here’s an intersection with “real fights aren’t nearly as long as the movies pretend” and “fighters are not necessarily good video-makers:” The spars lasted all of five seconds each, and it was mostly to “the first one who lands a hit wins.” This is okay when it’s clearly in good fun, but it’s also not very educational and it tips a little bit into “TELLING people how awesome eskrima is” instead of “SHOWING people how awesome it is.”
Martin does not look like he learned any footwork, either, but he says he knows boxing! The sport that people literally compare eskrima’s footwork to the most often!
Maybe this is my entertaining/acting side coming out, but if you’re planning a video well in advance, with someone that you know is not trained in this field, and an indirect purpose of this is to spread knowledge of your country’s national sport/combat-style, I feel like you need to set aside a couple hours for a crash-course of “here’s how to do X, Y, and Z,” while the actual students and teachers are doing fancy stuff. You can film however much you need, and then CUT however much you need to fit the time-limit.
The video would have greatly been helped if they kept a training montage that lasted twenty or thirty seconds--it would be much more involved than what the video seems to have done, by just tossing a new guy a stick and messing around with him.
General impression: An easy to digest taste of eskrima, like Cup-O-Noodles / instant ramen, or whatever your country’s version of “cheap and easy food” is. Not bad for what it is, but you’ll need something meatier after a couple of hours.

How did a Philippine attack jet manage to shoot down an F-22 in an air combat exercise?
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 12/10/2023 - 20:01in Military
In early November, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) announced that one of its FA-50 light attack jets managed to "shoot down" the current U.S. air superiority champion, the F-22 Raptor, during air combat exercises held in July of this year. This ad came along with an image recording the feat.
The image captured by the FA-50's cannon camera shows the Raptor in the sight of the Philippine fighter while the pilot fixed himself on the stealth jet with an infrared-guided missile (heat search).
"This case marked an important development in military history. The Philippine jet combat plane triumphed over a 5ª generation jet fighter in a simulated air combat arena, which took place in the airspace over Luzon, in the context of the Cope Thunder exercise,” the PAF statement said.
But although this achievement is certainly worthy of celebration for the Philippine Air Force, a more detailed inspection of this image offers a series of valuable clues about how a training aircraft transformed into a $38 million attack managed to surpass the $350 million Raptor or more.
And here's a spoiler: as so often happens in this type of exercise, the F-22 seems to be flying with a wing metaphorically tied to its back.
The simulated confrontation between the Filipino and American jets took place during the Cope Thunder 23-2 - a series of bilateral fighter training exercises and exchange of experts on the subject that took place in the Philippines between July 2 and 21. The U.S. Air Force sent 15 aircraft, mainly F-16 and F-22, along with more than 500 aviators to participate in the exercises alongside a similar number of PAF personnel operating FA-50, A-29 and AS-211 aircraft oriented to attack the ground.
But despite dozens of aircraft carrying out dozens of missions over almost three weeks, the part of these exercises that caught the world's attention occurred a moment before a PAF pilot proudly announced on the radio: "Fox 2! I hit a Raptor in the right turn!"
COMBAT EXERCISES DO NOT MEAN FAIR FIGHTS
Combat exercises, such as those carried out during Cope Thunder 23-2, are often misunderstood by the media that inform them (although this misunderstanding can sometimes be attributed to biased media). Clashes between aircraft, for example, are often presented without context, as if two jets had simply been taken to the sky as if airborne for a departure in a barrier-free cage, but the reality of these situations is anything but that.
An F-15 and an F-22 during air combat exercises.
The purpose of these exercises is not to ensure victory, but to create circumstances that lead to learning. In order to ensure that all pilots and support crews get the most out of these expensive endeavors, the rules of these exercises - commonly known as Engagement Rules or ROEs - are intentionally defined not only to balance the battlefield, but often to put the most capable unit or platform at a clear disadvantage.
In the case of the F-22 Raptor, its stealth, sensor fusion capabilities and the AIM-120 advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM) aim to give its pilot what the U.S. Air Force calls a "first kill opportunity". In other words, the fighter and its on-board systems were designed to allow the Raptor to sneak through enemy airspace without being detected, to face enemy fighters beyond visual range - destroying the enemy before he even realizes they are in a fight.
Even when forced to fight closely, the capabilities of the aircraft allow Raptor pilots to dictate the nature of the combat, sneaking through the airspace until they place themselves in the most advantageous position before the start of combat.
But if you allowed the F-22s to fly like this in air combat exercises... they would simply eliminate the enemy 60 miles away the minute the commander of the exercise said, "Go". And no one would take much advantage of the training.
Instead, it is common practice in exercises like these to establish ROEs that compromise the strengths of the Raptor and create advantages for lower fighters to put pressure. By barring combat out of visual range, for example, you eliminate the stealth advantage of the F-22 (s Stealth does not work against eyes and short-range infrared-guided weapons are more likely to crash).
Other rules, for example, forcing Raptor pilots to fly with heavy fuel launch tanks under their wings, can drastically reduce the aerobatic maneuverability of the aircraft, and through intentional positions of the aircraft at the beginning of the exercise, such as placing the lower capacity jet directly behind the F-22, can make things extremely challenging for Raptor pilots.
THE KING OF HEAVEN: F-22 RAPTOR
The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is widely considered the most dominant air superiority fighter that has ever flown, thanks to its unique combination of stealth, sensor fusion and hot rod performance, usually found only in non-serial fighters of the Cold War era, such as the F-15. Powered by a pair of advanced Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofan engines, each producing more power under post-combustion than the J58 turbojet that boosted the SR-71 Blackbird, the Raptor has a recognized maximum speed of Mach 2.25 and the ability to supercruise - or fly at supersonic speeds without the use of its post-combust - at speeds above Mach 1.5.
The maximum speeds may not win the fights, but the incredible power of these F119 grants the Raptor an impulse-to-weight ratio arguably the best in the world, something between 1.25 and 1.37 for one. In other words, the aircraft's engines produce between 1.25 and 1.37 pounds of thrust for each pound that the aircraft weighs with a standard combat load, making this stealth fighter one of the fastest tactical acceleration and climbing jets on the planet. These engines are adorned with two-way thrust vector control nozzles that allow the pilot to orient the thrust output independently of the fuselage, allowing greater control when flying at a high angle of attack (such as when orienting the nose and jet weapons down towards an opponent), as well as extreme maneuverability.
But the Raptor is much more than brute force. Despite being the first and oldest 5ª generation fighter on the planet, it remains the most stealthy, with a frontal radar cross section estimated at only 0.0001~0.0002 m2. This makes the Raptor potentially 30 times more stealthy than the F-117 Nighthawk and 1,000 times more stealthy even than the most optimistic estimates for Russia's intended competitor, the Su-57. This extreme degree of low observability is reinforced by the F-22's powerful AN/APG-77(V1) active electronic scanning radar, which is considered so capable that it surpasses even the most modern AN/APG-81 of the F-35 - the most powerful radar ever installed in a fighter - for air-to-air tasks.
The F-22 fights with up to six AIM-120 medium-range advanced air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM), two AIM-9 Sidewinder infrared guided missiles and a 20mm Gatling M61A2 cannon on board.
THE TRAINING JET THAT TURNED INTO HUNTING: FA-50
The FA-50, on the other hand, is the light combat version of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI)'s T-50 Golden Eagle supersonic training aircraft, initially designed to replace the former Korean fleets of Northrop F-5Es and Cessna A-37 Dragonflies.
While the F-22 was designed to outperform the best fighters on the planet without saving expenses, the FA-50 was designed with accessibility and efficiency in the front and center, but that does not mean that it lacks teeth. Powered by a single General Electric F404-GE-102 post-combustion turbofan engine that produces about 17,700 pounds of thrust, this two-seat aircraft can reach speeds of up to Mach 1.5 and offers a thrust-to-weight ratio of 0.96 to one.
The FA-50 comes with a 3-cane, 20 mm General Dynamics A-50 rotary cannon and seven hardpoints for carrying weapons, including the AIM-9 Sidewinder, along with a long list of air-to-ground ammunition for attack tasks. The aim for air and ground operations is controlled by a modified Israeli EL/M-2032 Doppler pulse fire control radar, which is rumored to be similar in performance to the APG-68(V)7 multimode radar of American origin, harnessed by Korea in the KF-16.
The FA-50 has an economic performance that will not break many records, but it will not break the bank either. So... how the hell did he manage to shoot down the most powerful fighter in flight?
WHAT THIS IMAGE TELLS US ABOUT THE FA-50 VERSUS F-22 ENGAGEMENT
Although we do not know the combat rules to which these aircraft were subjected during this exercise, there are some things that we can deduce immediately through the only image disclosed above.
The first is that this involvement occurs clearly within the visual range. As it is almost certain that the F-22 Raptor would quickly dominate combat beyond the line of sight, it is safe to assume that the ROEs for this exercise forced the two aircraft to stay close, where the advantages of the Raptor, in terms of stealth or situational awareness, could not be of much use.
But some small details in the silhouette of the F-22 are even more revealing. If you look closely at the image, you can clearly see what look like the Raptor's external tanks filled with fuel still under the wings during this combat.
An approximate view of the PAF image compared to a similar photo of the F-22 carrying with flammable fuel tanks.
When not in combat or when flying on missions that do not require stealth, the F-22 Raptor is often seen flying with two huge 600-gallon external fuel tanks under the wings that carry an additional 8,000 pounds of fuel. These external fuel stocks have a seriously damaging effect on the performance of any fighter and, as such, are the first thing most pilots drop before facing an opponent.
These tractable tanks dramatically increase the amount of weight carried under each wing, which can increase the stall speed of the fighter (or the speed that the jet must maintain to avoid an aerodynamic stall), while dramatically increasing the inertia of each wing, limiting the ability of the fighter to roll or perform sharp turns. They also increase drag, forcing the fighter to work harder in all forms of maneuvers and reducing the rate of ascent and acceleration.
In other words, no Raptor pilot would enter an approximate air combat with their launch tanks, unless required by the engagement rules of the exercise to inhibit the performance of the fighter and give the smaller jet a better chance.
Thus, without further context regarding the circumstances of this combat exercise, it seems clear that the intention here was to provide all the personnel involved with the greatest training benefit, and not to make an analysis of the domain of the Raptor. And, as such, the cards were, once again, against the powerful F-22.

A thought about 'Minority Groups'
As I said in previous Essays- while (Indigenous) Black Americans continue to get lip service & empty tributes, i'm looking at WHO is getting WHAT. There has been a lot of activity under The Biden Administration, & I found myself looking at these events from an abstract perspective. 'Jim Crow' Joe said that he appreciated Black America 'having His back' throughout the years, & he would have Ours. Since that statement, Native Americans, Asian Americans, Latinx (Citizens & Illegals), LGBTQ..., have All received legislation & funding. On top of the $113 Billion spent in Ukraine over the last Year, Israel continues to receive Billions annually from The U.S. Now provisions have been made for 100,000 Afghani & 100,000 Ukrainian refugees to relocate to America.
We Black Americans/ ADOS/ FBA/ Freemen/ Indigenous Americans can be a well intentioned, but socially naive group. The efforts of White Supremacists w/i Local, State, & Federal Government Agencies to systemically oppress Our Community has created a 'Collective Consciousness' that empathizes (abstractly) w/ the oppression of other Ethnicities. We can identify w/ the hardship of Others, & when possible, We do what We can to combat that hardship. We fought against the oppression of American Slave Codes, Black Codes, & Jim Crow Laws; simultaneously, We fought for The Rights of Irish, Chinese, Mexican, Jewish, Italian, Haitian, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Panamanian, Filipino, & Japanese immigrants that faced a measure of the oppression We experienced here.
Looking at this 'Collective Consciousness' historically, a Pattern can be seen over the centuries. Every Immigrant Group in America has gone through a 'Hazing Period', where they are the target of Social Bias & Prejudice. During this 'Social Phase', newcomers tend to identify w/ the Black Americans that they are in contact w/. We encircle these people w/i Our Community, & take the lead in protesting injustices against them. In the past, 'Brownfolk' tended to identify w/ Us. We shared Culture & Traditions; in some instances, we intermarried. In this Era, things have changed. If Black Immigrants & 'Brownfolk' start off in Black Communities, they don't always stay.
By the 2nd Generation, their children either identify w/ The Black Experience in America, or they make every effort to move away from it. Ethnic Enclaves have literally 'popped up' outside of Black Communities over the last 30Yrs, creating true Buffer Zones between Black & White Communities. Black America was oblivious to any possible agenda amongst Minority Groups- We also identified as Minorities, & assumed We were all in the same boat. Black Power isn't a selfish endeavor- Our Right of Autonomy grants other Minorities the same Right. American History substantiates this truth. To be honest, We were naively ignorant about the 'Culture' of these Minority Groups in their Native Land. We assumed they shared a similar experience of White Supremacy.
We knew about the Racism in Europe, but were unaware of the Tribalism that existed in Afrika & The Caribbean; or the Colorism that exists in Arabia, Asia, & Latin America. Many of the minorities that We had 'First Contact' w/, were friendly. As a Marginalized People, they had something in common w/ Us. We collaborated in business & in Social Action. We shared Our Community, & worked together to improve Our collective Quality of Life. We thought that We were united in the fight against White Supremacy. Then a funny thing happened- one by one, these 'Marginalized Groups' were accepted into Society, & given Rights & Privileges that We were (still) denied.
Over the Centuries, We watched- as Irish, Jewish & Italian neighbors elevated their status. The more they achieved, the more distance they placed between Us. Collectively, each group became increasingly intolerant of Blackfolk. They began to speak the Anti- Black rhetoric of Mainstream America. Our old neighbors appeared to 'pledge allegiance' to the same people that discriminated against them. Black Americans were now victims of mob violence, stemming from (perceived) competition that Irish & Italians had w/ Black Men for Jobs. The Irish in particular, were brutal in their efforts to push Black Men out of specific Trades & Sports. The only reminder of Black involvement in Horse Racing, are 'Lawn Jockeys', that many Black People see as racist. 150Yrs- 200Yrs ago, Black Jockeys dominated Horse Racing.
As disappointed as We were w/ the actions of the Irish, Italians, & Eastern Europeans, the current Anti- Black American sentiment held by today's 'Minority Groups' (POC), truly stings! We can't say that We didn't see it coming though. Many (Indigenous) Black Americans have an experience of being 'in the company' of a given Minority Group. When they are in mixed company, the conversation is civil; but when they outnumber Us, We begin to hear the stereotypes about Us. The larger the advantage, the more prejudiced the language becomes. While they may repeat White Supremacist talking points, they lack the power to truly be 'Racist'. That being said, quite a few individuals have ridden this rhetoric into Mainstream notoriety; the names represent a literal Who's Who in Pop Culture & Politics.
Collectively, these Minority Groups seem comfortable w/ their place in AmeriKKKa's Caste System, as long as they are 'positioned' above Black America... Hispanic & Asian women are currently testing the racial waters, by way of recent attempts to gauge their degree of White Privilege. Their actions legitimize the notion that White Privilege is defined by Anti- Black Racism & Oppression. The actions of these 'Karens of Color', are no different from the garden variety Karen. All of these women are trying to exercise their 'Right', but Women Of Color are also establishing their position in the Social Caste. I personally don't understand the need to gauge one's 'Power' on the ability to harass or harm what is believed to be a Soft Target. I thought that White Supremacy is a philosophy premised on strength & 'Might makes Right'- Where is the challenge?
Joe Biden's Policy actions have made clear his intention to extend White Privilege to Asians & Hispanics. Like (White) LGBTQ... individuals, & European Jews, Asians enjoy meaningful Hate Crime Legislation. Meanwhile, Black America still fights for this legislation, as the #1 Victim of Hate Crimes in America- according to the latest FBI Crime Stats. For Latinx, Biden is fast tracking Citizenship for illegal immigrants in Sanctuary Cities. Many Cities are suggesting Drivers Licenses for illegal immigrants, while California is talking about hiring non- Citizens for the LAPD & State Police. In short, 'America' has become a Multicultural & Multilingual Nation. All of this is very curious. Just a generation ago, Local, State, & Federal Officials were adamant that America is a 'Judeo- Christian' Nation that speaks 'English'. Efforts to make Spanish an Official 2nd Language were quickly shot down. 100Yrs ago, America was a 'White Man's Country!'.
Black Americans were looking for a Seat at The Table, but didn't have a problem sharing w/ Our fellow 'Minorities'. Affirmative Action was designed to level the playing field between Blackfolk & Whitefolk. It was supposed to make up for The New Deal & G.I. Bills that excluded Black Families. Despite this, We didn't complain when these resources were diverted (via Diversity Initiatives) away from Us, & given to people who NEVER had to experience what We went through. We were as compliant as Cows being bled by Vampire Bats, until We renewed the Reparations Conversation. Suddenly, We were xenophobes. The loudest voices have come from 2nd & 3rd generation Americans, who (collectively) enjoy a better Quality Of Life than the average Black American. The fact that the children of immigrants from the 1980s are now attacking Black America w/ White Supremacist talking points, is simply mindboggling!
An Ethnic Group that appears to do A LOT of 'Racial double dipping', are Hindi/ Pakistani/ Bangladeshi Americans. They are conveniently 'Black' when there is opportunity, but otherwise, they not only identify as 'White'; they subscribe to a visceral Anti- Black sentiment that needs to be addressed. This is important, because Joe Biden is putting Kamala Harris at the forefront of his Re-election Campaign. America is still calling Kamala the 1st 'Afrikan American VP', but both of her parents are Brahmin. Kamala's 'Black Experience' ends at Howard University & Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She is otherwise an Elitist, who has a decades long resume of undermining Black Californians (Black Women in particular), & looking out for her own best interests.
Former Governor of South Carolina & U.N. Ambassador, Nikki Haley (Nimarata Nikki Randhwara- Haley), is the flip side of Kamala Harris. Both Women are Brahmin, but while Kamala is 'Asian' w/ a cultural leaning towards Black America; Nikki is 'Brown', but has consistently shown a cultural leaning towards White Privilege. Both Women highlight a simple truth- that 'Black' Issues aren't 'Brown' Issues. People Of Color (POC/ BIPOC) tend to be victims of Discrimination, more than Racism. This is evidenced by their Collective Autonomy throughout America. They have a Right of Expression that Indigenous Black Americans never truly had; not even during Reconstruction. It may be due to their sovereign status, but it's clear that they DON'T share Our plight.
Vivek Ramaswamy is yet another type. He is a 2nd Generation child of [Elitist] Asian Immigrants, but he tries to weave an Ellis Island narrative out of his experience. Like Kamala Harris & Nikki Halely, both of Ramaswamy's parents were Post Graduates w/ more education than the average [White] American Family. He gives the impression that they were Blue Collar Workers living the American Dream for their children. Ramaswamy casually speaks about his 'rough' Public School experience in Cincinnati, before going to a Private (Jesuit) School- that 'didn't conflict w/ his Hindu values'. This experience supposedly positioned him for College, Post Grad work, & starting his 1st Biotech Company... He implies that EVERYONE gets this opportunity in America.
Kamala Harris' Mother had the support of the Black Community in Oakland & Berkeley. Nikki Haley's Father had the support of (HBCU) Voorhees College, where he worked for nearly 30Yrs. Despite that support for their Parents, Nikki Haley & Kamala Harris have done NOTHING meaningful or specifically for Black Americans. In fact, both have supported measures that were detrimental to their Black Constituents; i'm reminded of The Tale of 'The Tortoise & The Scorpion'... Vivek Ramaswamy takes it up another notch. His 'Anti- Woke' Campaign, is a not too subtle Anti- Black dog whistle. Ramaswamy has the audacity to use his Experience (as a 2nd Generation Brahmin- American) to minimize, if he can't outright disclaim The Black American Experience altogether.
Vivek Ramaswamy's family has been in America for roughly 40Yrs. That means that they arrived sometime in the 1980s, nearly 20Yrs after the End of the Jim Crow Era; but Vivek feels that he can speak about the History of Anti- Black Racism in America. Ramaswamy, along w/ Harris & Haley represent the 'People Of Color' Prospects for POTUS. The similarity of their Agendas speaks volumes. All of them benefited from opportunities meant for Blackfolk, but they lecture Us about 'bootstrapping'. Add in Joe Biden's thoughts about Latinx being 'the largest Minority Group in America'(???), along w/ weird Culture Appropriation rhetoric coming from Eva Longoria, then John Leguizamo, & it looks like a conspiracy.
It's crystal clear that collectively speaking, Indigenous Black America has NO FRIENDS. We should act accordingly... These Minority Groups forget that Our 'Culture' is fighting White Supremacy, not bowing to it. We're not Here for a Come Up, or a Hand Out- We're indigenous to This Land. We were Here before the first Colonizer, & We'll be Here long after the Last.
-Just Sayin'

GABRIELA STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH PALESTINE! 🇵🇸✊🏽💜
"When people are colonized, resistance is justified! GABRIELA Los Angeles stands in solidarity with Palestine and calls for an immediate end to the siege on Gaza!
"As anti-imperialists, we reject the US funded and trained settler state of Israel. Our fight for liberation goes hand in hand with the Palestinian people as we combat US-imperialism, wide-spread disinformation and escalating militarization of the Global South. We call on all Filipino women and the LGBTQ community to join the mass resistance in support of Palestine and fight for our collective liberation. As revolutionary fighter and Palestinian refugee Leila Khalid once said, “As long as the imperialists globalize the system, we globalize our struggle.”
"As an organization that organizes Filipino women and children in the National Democratic movement, we understand that our liberation will not come from the oppressive state of capitalism and US-imperialism. More than 1,030 Palestinian children in Gaza have been killed by Israeli forces since October 7, or about one child every 15 minutes, and more than one-third of the total death toll. Over 37,000 pregnant women will be forced to give birth without water, electricity, and medical supplies in Gaza because of a blockade by the Israeli government. Without access to clean water, food, basic medicines and vaccines, innocent women and newborn babies will continue to die."

Robert A. Heinlein, the science fiction author, gets a lot of flak and is called a fascist for Starship Troopers, but I have to disagree. I know the Federation in the Verhooven film adaptation is a fascist regime (and an especially incompetent one with a lot of point of failure), but the original author isn't. Let me plea my case:
Fascism is about CONTROL dressed in militarism. The Federation of the novel uses the Federal Service to determine who has the sense of responsability to vote by asking them to spend two years of their lives doing something hard and often unpleasant that isn't necessarily in the military (the recruiter flat-out says that as long as one understands the oath they'll get SOMETHING to do, even if it is counting caterpillar fuzz, and Carl is assigned to a government research outpost), and makes active efforts to make people think twice about what they're signing up for (the recruiter is later seen with excellent prostetics and admits he doesn't wear them in service to show the danger of the service) while allowing them to leave at any moment outside active combat with nothing but the loss of the chance to rejoin unless they commit some crime in the process (Hendricks hits Zim outside a spar, something that by law should get him hanged, and everyone goes out of the way to pretend otherwise until he says it in front of witnesses, at which point they went out of their way to NOT hang him but simply throw him out of the service with a flogging. An unnamed character DESERTED during training and nobody cared until he killed a child, and that was the crime he was hanged for).
The Federation actually cares for their servicepeople. The Mobile Infantry is given formidable power armor and extensive training in using it without endangering anyone but the enemy (during training Rico eyeballed a simulated tactical nuke and got severely punished and almost drummed out. In the raid on the Skinnies Homeworld he got two nukes and orders to expend all his ammo, and he almost broke said orders because he knew better than use those improperly). A fascist regime doesn't care (it's literally one of the mottos of Italian fascists, "I don't care"). The Federation also has an institutional contempt for conscription, that being a staple of fascism.
According to the military academy history teacher, the Federation maintains their voting system for a reason: it arose almost by accident after World War III and worked well enough, so why try and replace it? No ideological sermon on why it's the best regime, just an admission that what was before caused a nuclear war and this replacement they cobbled together and later refined brought them to the stars.
Did you know that in the novel Rico is Filipino, and it just doesn't come up until near the end when he's asked out of curiosity his favorite historical character and native language and he replies that his hero is Ramon Magsaysay (the PRESIDENT when the novel was published) and at home speaks Tagalog? It's something Heinlein did all the time, he wrote a protagonist, made him sympathetic, maybe gave a red herring about their race (see Rico's mom being in Buenos Aires on vacation when the city was destroyed), and three quarters in or later pulled the rug by unquestionably establishing the hero as non white (Manny in The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress is mixed race, and stated everyone on the Moon but first generation immigrants, tourists, and workers for the Lunar Authority were mixed race). And he wrote in the fifties and sixties. The only novel where he had to use racist themes was the one he was forced to write to appease a racist asshole that could have sunk his career at the start, when he was writing to maintain his family.
If you want to put a political label on him, it's easy once one reads The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress and finds his author avatar describe a mild Libertarian ideology. Much milder than many today, and so early he didn't even have a name for it, but unquestionably Libertarian.
In conclusion, Heinlein was no fascist, just a man that was revolutionary for his day and a proto-libertarian that wrote a very famous military sci-fi novel and wasn't interested in fully fleshing out that world, and if he were to write now he'd write different but still revolutionary stuff.

Filipina Housekeepers in Ghana: Media Portrayals, Ethical Recruitment, and Sustainable Futures
The narrative of the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) is complex and multifaceted, woven with threads of sacrifice, resilience, and the pursuit of a better life. While encompassing a vast spectrum of professions, from engineers and nurses to seafarers and teachers, this article focuses on the often-overlooked experiences of Filipina housekeepers, particularly within the context of Ghana, their portrayal in media, and the evolving landscape of ethical recruitment. This examination also delves into the crucial intersection of sustainable development and OFW remittances, exploring how these financial inflows can contribute to long-term economic growth and improved livelihoods in the Philippines.
The image of the Filipina domestic worker is deeply ingrained in the global consciousness. Often portrayed as hardworking, loyal, and nurturing, these women leave their families and homes to provide for their loved ones, navigating the challenges of cultural differences, language barriers, and sometimes, exploitative working conditions. Ghana, a West African nation with a growing middle class, has become a destination for Filipina housekeepers seeking opportunities abroad. While some find positive experiences and supportive employers, others face precarious situations, including underpayment, excessive workloads, and limited access to legal recourse. The lack of robust support systems and the geographical distance from home exacerbate these vulnerabilities, highlighting the critical need for strengthened protections and ethical recruitment practices.
The media plays a significant role in shaping public perception of OFWs, including domestic workers. While some portrayals accurately depict their hard work and dedication, others perpetuate stereotypes and reinforce negative narratives. These depictions can range from romanticized notions of selfless sacrifice to sensationalized accounts of abuse and exploitation. Such representations often fail to capture the nuances of the OFW experience, neglecting the individual stories of resilience, agency, and the complex motivations driving their migration. Accurate and balanced media representation is crucial in fostering greater understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by OFWs and promoting informed discussions about their rights and welfare.
The advocacy for ethical recruitment has gained momentum over the past few decades. While pinpointing an exact "era" is challenging, the late 1990s and early 2000s witnessed a surge in international and national efforts to combat human trafficking and promote fair labor practices for migrant workers. The Philippines, as a major labor-sending country, has been at the forefront of these efforts, implementing legislation and policies aimed at protecting OFWs from exploitation and ensuring their access to pre-departure orientation, skills training, and legal assistance. Organizations like the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) play a crucial role in regulating recruitment agencies and enforcing ethical standards. However, challenges remain, including the prevalence of illegal recruitment practices and the need for stronger international cooperation to effectively address cross-border labor exploitation.
The financial remittances sent home by OFWs, including domestic workers, represent a significant contribution to the Philippine economy. These inflows have become a lifeline for many families, providing access to education, healthcare, and improved living standards. However, the sustainability of this OFW-driven development model warrants critical examination. While remittances provide immediate economic benefits, they can also create dependency and hinder long-term economic diversification. A sustainable approach requires moving beyond simply relying on remittances and focusing on investing these funds strategically to promote economic growth, job creation, and human capital development within the Philippines.
This transition requires a multi-pronged approach. Firstly, empowering OFWs through financial literacy programs can help them manage their remittances effectively and make informed investment decisions. Secondly, creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and small business development can channel these funds into productive sectors, generating employment and stimulating local economies. Thirdly, investing in education and skills development can equip Filipinos with the necessary tools to compete in the global job market, reducing the reliance on overseas employment in the long term. Finally, promoting good governance and transparency is crucial in ensuring that these funds are utilized effectively and contribute to sustainable development.
For those seeking overseas employment opportunities, resources like OFWJobs.org provide valuable information about job vacancies, recruitment agencies, and pre-departure requirements. Accessing reliable information is vital in making informed decisions and avoiding the pitfalls of illegal recruitment and exploitation. OFWJobs.org
The journey of the Filipina housekeeper, like that of all OFWs, is a testament to their resilience, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to their families. Their contributions to both the Philippine and global economies are undeniable. However, it is imperative to move beyond simply acknowledging their sacrifices and actively work towards creating a more just and equitable environment for them. This includes strengthening ethical recruitment practices, promoting fair labor standards, providing access to adequate support systems, and fostering a media landscape that accurately portrays their experiences. Furthermore, embracing a sustainable development model that leverages OFW remittances for long-term economic growth and human capital development is essential in ensuring a brighter future for the Philippines and its people.
The conversation surrounding OFW welfare must also include a deeper examination of the root causes of labor migration, including poverty, lack of economic opportunities, and systemic inequalities. Addressing these underlying issues is crucial in creating a more sustainable and equitable future where Filipinos have the choice to pursue fulfilling lives and careers within their own country. This requires a concerted effort from the government, private sector, and civil society organizations to invest in education, create jobs, and promote inclusive economic growth.
The stories of Filipina housekeepers in Ghana, and indeed all OFWs around the world, are stories of hope, perseverance, and the enduring human spirit. They are stories that deserve to be heard, understood, and respected. By acknowledging their contributions, addressing their challenges, and working towards a more just and sustainable future, we can honor their sacrifices and empower them to achieve their full potential. The path towards achieving this goal requires continuous dialogue, collaboration, and a commitment to upholding the dignity and rights of all workers, regardless of their nationality or profession.
It is crucial to acknowledge that the experiences of OFWs are not monolithic. While there are shared challenges and vulnerabilities, individual experiences vary greatly depending on factors such as destination country, employment sector, and the specific circumstances of their employment. Further research and data collection are needed to gain a more nuanced understanding of the specific challenges faced by Filipina housekeepers in Ghana and other destination countries. This research should inform policy decisions and interventions aimed at improving their working conditions and protecting their rights.
Furthermore, the role of technology in connecting OFWs with their families and accessing information and support services should be explored further. The increasing availability of affordable internet and mobile technology has the potential to bridge the geographical distance and provide OFWs with vital resources and social connections. However, it is also important to address the digital divide and ensure that all OFWs have equal access to these technologies and the skills to utilize them effectively.
The ethical recruitment framework needs continuous evaluation and improvement. The evolving nature of the global labor market requires ongoing adaptation and collaboration between governments, recruitment agencies, and civil society organizations. Strengthening international cooperation is crucial in combating human trafficking and ensuring that labor migration is safe, orderly, and respects the rights of all workers.
Finally, fostering a greater sense of social responsibility within the private sector is essential. Employers have a crucial role to play in ensuring the ethical treatment of OFWs, including providing fair wages, reasonable working hours, and access to healthcare and other essential services. Promoting corporate social responsibility and encouraging businesses to adopt ethical labor practices can contribute significantly to improving the working conditions and overall well-being of OFWs.
The narrative of the OFW is a complex tapestry woven with threads of sacrifice, resilience, and hope. By listening to their stories, understanding their challenges, and working collaboratively towards solutions, we can create a more just and equitable future for these unsung heroes of the global economy.

New friends in Springfield MO
My friend Bart Cardetti a colleague of Ken Harding casually mentioned he was practicing Kali in town.....and that s how after six years living here I find out finally of a place where we can practice Filipino Martial Arts. 417 BJJ has been a Godsend. Being a lifetime member of the Filipino Combat Systems Puerto Rico Brotherhood you may understand how happy I was. Not only that I had the chance to invite a couple of Filipino friends to enjoy and activity they were craving for as part of their heritage. After all We islanders look after each other no matter the Sea and/or Ocean.
After the poor experience I had with a local HEM...living history green and yellow group here...
Mr Glenn Cozzens restored my faith in Humanity . He runs a longtime Boxing/Brazilian Jujitsu Gym in town. Great camaraderie, super safe, accesible and affordable. The gym schedule classes all week for all ages . And it s probably also HEMa friendly.
I cann t thanks enough to Bart for pin pointing me in the right direction.

Remote working has transformed the way we approach our professional lives. The flexibility to work from anywhere, the elimination of commutes, and the ability to balance personal and professional responsibilities have made it a popular choice for many.
However, remote working is not without its challenges. From managing time effectively to combating isolation, remote workers often face several hurdles. Let's explore these challenges and discuss how platforms like OnlineJobs.ph are helping many Filipino workers navigate this new terrain successfully.
The Challenges of Remote Working
1. Time Management
One of the most significant challenges of remote working is managing time effectively. Without the structure of a traditional office, it can be easy to procrastinate or overwork. Setting a clear schedule and sticking to it is crucial for maintaining productivity and work-life balance.
2. Communication Barriers
Effective communication is vital for remote teams. Without face-to-face interactions, misunderstandings can occur, and team cohesion can suffer. Utilizing various communication tools and setting clear guidelines for their use can help bridge the gap.
3. Isolation and Loneliness
Working remotely can be isolating, especially for those who thrive on social interactions. Building a virtual community through regular video calls, online chats, and virtual team-building activities can help alleviate feelings of loneliness.
4. Technological Issues
Reliable technology is the backbone of remote work. However, technical glitches, internet connectivity issues, and inadequate hardware can disrupt work. Ensuring that you have reliable equipment and a stable internet connection is essential for a smooth remote working experience.
5. Maintaining Productivity
Staying productive in a home environment can be challenging due to various distractions. Creating a dedicated workspace, setting boundaries with family members, and using productivity tools can help maintain focus and efficiency.

The Shoah is an especially personal subject, so I understand your anger and pain at what may feel like an attempt to universalize or appropriate its memory, but I assure you I am not making a comparison to the Holocaust. I myself am Jewish, and I both have a vested interest in avoiding that sort of misuse, and would never want to insult your great grandfather’s memory. But I ask that you bare minimum pay me the respect of not putting words in my mouth & making a post that has nothing to do with the Holocaust about the Holocaust to call me ignorant about it.
The way I’ve coped with the trauma of antisemitism is leaning into & learning about it. I can’t claim to be an expert on everything, but I actually have spent a lot of time studying the Shoah and the history that preceded and surrounds it, as well as combatting misinformation and the universalization & inversion of Jewish trauma, including the Holocaust. And this time spent studying the Shoah is actually exactly the reason why I know that while, yes, many may colloquially use “concentration camp” interchangeably with “Nazi extermination camp”, a 1-for-1 “concentration camps = only extermination camps” wasn’t even true of the Nazi concentration camp system (which included other concentration camps w/o killing centers for transit, detainment, and forced labor, in addition to the extermination camps like Auschwitz-Birkenau), and the term “concentration camp” is a much broader term that predates and includes, but is not limited, to the Nazi system of concentration & extermination camps.
There are even earlier examples of concentration camps before the Spanish ones, but the term itself was coined to refer to the reconcentrados used by the Spanish military to intern Cuban civilians in the Ten Years’ War. The reconcentrados-style camps of multiple countries—including the US, Britain, and the pre-Nazi German Empire—were referred to as concentration camps before the Nazis and continue to be understood as such by historians today.
They were called concentration camps because they concentrated people that were previously dispersed throughout the population into one place. Yes, the Nazis made a far worse version of them by expanding the pre-existing concentration camp model & adding killing centers to make extermination camps, but that does not retroactively and for all time erase the history and meaning of all other concentration camps.
Concentration camps concentrate people. Extermination camps exterminate people. All Nazi extermination camps are concentration camps; not all concentration camps are extermination camps.
Much as someone might refer to the specific system of chattel slavery employed in the Transatlantic Slave Trade that enslaved Black people as simply “slavery”, but other forms of slavery nevertheless exist, and are in fact still slavery (and deserve to be recognized as such) despite the colloquial use of the term to refer to a very specific example of it; and just like the Shoah is an especially brutal genocide, but the term “genocide” still applies to a lot of other historical events outside of the Holocaust; the fact that Nazi extermination camps were an especially deadly example of concentration camps does not erase the fact that the history of concentration camps predates and extends beyond the Nazis, and that there is a very long list of concentration camps that exist outside of the Holocaust—including Spain’s in the Ten Years’ War, as well as the United States’ detainment of Filipinos in the Philippines-American War and later Japanese-Americans in the Second World War.
If you prefer to call only Nazi camps “concentration camps” and everything else “holding” or “internment camps” I can’t stop you, but the US government’s phrasing of “internment” was clearly intended as a euphemism to avoid comparisons to their previous war crimes in the Philippines-American War, and I personally think “concentration” is too vague & euphemistic to capture the horrors of the gas chambers (“extermination camp” is both more precise & more accurately conveys Nazi’s purpose).
In any case, “concentration camp” in this post is not a reference to Nazi extermination camps; my use of the word is in line with what it was coined to refer to, how it has historically been used, and how it’s defined in dictionaries. It’s not inaccurate to describe the camps Japanese-Americans were placed in as concentration camps. there’s no need to “correct” it.
If someone old enough to remember American concentration camps because his family was rounded up and detained in one when he was a child tells you to shut up because you’re making false equivalences between the Black woman with one of the most progressive platforms in the country’s history and the White Supremacist who is openly talking about putting legal citizens in camps again, you should probably listen to him

The Filipino Justice System
Blog 5
Improving the Philippine criminal justice system is a complex challenge that requires a multifaceted approach. One crucial aspect is updating laws related to criminal offenses, penalties, and procedural safeguards to ensure they are fair and align with modern standards. This reform is vital for a more efficient and equitable justice system.
Law enforcement agencies also need significant enhancements to effectively combat crime. This includes investing in advanced training, technology, and infrastructure to improve investigations and crime prevention strategies. Building stronger partnerships between law enforcement and communities can enhance trust and cooperation, leading to more successful crime-solving outcomes. Efforts to address judicial inefficiency and case backlogs are equally important. Implementing better case management systems, specialized courts, and alternative dispute resolution methods can expedite case resolution and ensure fair trials. Adequate funding and staffing for courts are essential to support these improvements effectively.
Improving access to legal aid and representation, especially for marginalized groups, is crucial for a fairer justice system. This can be achieved through public defender offices, expanded pro bono services, and awareness campaigns about legal rights. Rehabilitation and reintegration programs for offenders play a vital role in reducing recidivism rates. Investing in these programs, along with vocational training and mental health services for inmates, can support their successful return to society. Additionally, addressing corruption within the justice system is essential for building public trust. Implementing strict anti-corruption measures, enhancing oversight, and promoting ethical conduct among justice sector personnel are key steps toward accountability and transparency.
In summary, comprehensive reform efforts across legal, law enforcement, judicial, and social dimensions are needed to improve the Philippine criminal justice system. These reforms aim to create a more efficient, fair, and transparent system that upholds the rule of law and protects the rights of all citizens.
