The Impact of "Excuse Me, I’m Speaking" on Gender Equality Discussions
The phrase "Excuse me, I'm speaking" gained prominence during the 2020 U.S. Vice Presidential debate when then-Senator Kamala Harris used it to assert her right to finish her point without interruption from Vice President Mike Pence. This moment resonated with many women who have experienced being talked over or interrupted in professional and personal settings.

The phrase quickly became a rallying cry for women's empowerment and a symbol of the ongoing struggle for equal respect and representation in various spheres of life, particularly in politics and the workplace. It encapsulates the frustration many women feel when their voices are disregarded or silenced in conversations and debates.
"Excuse me, I'm speaking" highlights the broader issue of "manterrupting," a term coined to describe the tendency of men to interrupt women in conversation more frequently than they do other men. This phenomenon has been documented in numerous studies and is often cited as one of the subtle ways gender bias manifests in daily interactions.

˖ ࣪ ، ◞ せ⌇ SURVIVAL. featuring sniper mask.

↻ sniper mask is a good man… right?
tags : outdoor sex, misogyny, manipulation, creampie, spanking, fucking to survive (not really but he says it is), wall sex, orgasm delay, slight mask kink, god complex!sniper mask, implied dubcon // wc. 0.9k
author’s note : sighs and screams and sobs all over the place. i didn’t actually get down to watching high rise invasion until recently and now i suddenly need sniper mask everywhere and anywhere all at once. poor guy is SURROUNDED by women who he can’t have (and i could change that :p) i know we aren’t quite done with this event yet but i want to thank everyone for all the support i’ve received!! follower numbers have soared and i feel more motivation than ever <3 keep liking n reblogging to help a girl out, and enjoy this one !! i love you all and here’s to almost 800 followers !!
this work is NSFW. minors and ageless blogs DO NOT INTERACT.
ever heard of the saying ‘boys will be boys’? it’s massively toxic, and mostly used to excuse the inappropriate actions of boys (or more predominantly, men), especially in situations where said boy (or man) is deemed respectable for the most part.
for the most part, SNIPER MASK is a respectable man. of all the girls he’s come across in this realm, he has made it his duty to protect them because he knows that as a man, it is up to him to ensure women’s safety. he may even call himself a feminist, but that may be a step too far.
that’s because what sniper mask is doing now is very very far from what anyone would call feminism. in fact, he’s acting in accordance to the famed statement, ‘boys will be boys’, except he considers himself a man. and as a man, he has a right to feel manly urges.
lying to a vulnerable girl such as yourself isn’t very respectable of him, but it’s been ages since he’s had a good fuck, and he can’t deny himself after everything he’s done for all the other ditzs in this realm. he’ll apologise after, he promises, but for now, he can only focus on the way your cunt has him in a death grip.
“m-mr. mask…” you’re pathetic. he told you that you needed to do this to practise building stamina for future disputes, knowing full well that his stamina is fine, and you won’t be getting involved in combat if he had anything to do with it. you’re just such an airhead, so dainty and fragile and easily scared by the stupidest things, and it would pain him to leave you all alone by yourself.
“i know, sweetheart, but we need to do this. it’s necessary to ensure your and my survival.” it absolutely isn’t, but he’s telling you that to keep himself warm and snug inside your cunt. he has you pressed up against the wall of one of the abandoned high rises, far away enough from the rest of the players to make sure he doesn’t get caught.
your eyes flicker into the back of your head as your hands brace against the wall, bare nipples pressed into the brick through your torn shirt. “s-shit, ‘m gonna cum—“
sniper’s hands grip onto your hips hard, gloved fingers staining your flesh with fresh bruises as he pulls you back on his length repeatedly. “can’t have you cummin’ yet, angel. you have to hold it. stamina, remember?”
your eyes widen as you remember what he said. you have to hold out for as long as possible. do as he says because he’s a mask and you’re just a human, and a weak one at that. his experience surpasses yours tenfold, so he knows what’s best for your survival, right?
so you hold it for him, cunt clenching down tightly and hands forming into fists as you squeeze your eyes shut. he isn’t making it very easy for you; his blunt cockhead hits your cervix head on with every thrust, and his hands periodically crawl around your torso to play with your nipples. to add on to the sensations, it’s beginning to get a little windy out, and the cool breeze brushes against your agitated clit, causing small streams of wetness to spurt from your depths with every thrust.
you want to give up. you wish you could just give up on this whole stamina building exercise and let the masks kill you, but sniper’s cock feels so good, and if he doesn’t let you cum soon, you might lose what little brain cells you have left.
“i know you want it, doll, but y’gonna have to be patient, okay?” his deep voice rattles through his mask. “gotta hold out f’me. gonna make you a great fighter, okay?”
“y-yes sir,” you whimper, gasping when his gloved hand comes down on your ass with a slap!
“good girl. turn around f’me.” he unsheathes his cock and watches you struggle to turn around on shaky legs, back now pressed to the wall and thighs slightly parted as your tits spill out of your shirt. you look like a mess, eyelids drooping and lips parted gently, and he wonders why oh why you haven’t caught onto his scheme yet.
you, on the other hand, are confused for different reasons. you can’t even see his face, for crying out loud, so why do you want him to keep fucking you so bad? thoughts of stamina building or whatever fly right out of the window as he presses your waist back up against the wall, pulling your leg around his waist before lining his tip up with your hole.
“you can cum for me this time, doll. i think it’s about time you felt some real pleasure.” there he goes again, helping out poor little girls like you down on their luck.
he even has the audacity to smile to himself under his mask as he watches you convulse from orgasm, your tiny hands squeezing his biceps and eyes rolling into the back of your head lewdly. he follows not too long after, his grunts as shallow as his thrusts as he spurts rope after rope into your twitching cunt.
does he feel bad for cumming inside? not really. girls like you are only good for one thing in a place like this; to be good, compliant little cumdumps for respectable, hardworking men like himself.

Context on Project Moon discourse
I did some digging and watched some internet slapfights between Korean users, and collected as much context as humanly possible, trying to avoid hearsay where I can:
Misogynistic dudes start complaining about how sexless and non-waifu-female-heavy the game is, feeling the skimpy Sinclair outfit with the thotty little collar VS the fully covered Ishmael outfit is pointed feminist jeering (a law Hawkeye Initiative). Korean anti-feminists are really sensitive to pointed feminist jeering. More on that in a bit
Upon learning the identity artist is male, they trawl the rest of the staff to prove their stupid-ass theory.
They latch onto the lead CG artist, who has tweeted about feminism before.
Project Moon receives countless threats and people marching on their office IRL demanding to speak to the CEO.
The resulting hate campaign leads to Project Moon firing the lead artist for violation of contract; it was specifically requested by the company that all users delete political statements and controversial topics before joining, and the tweets the incels are using seem to prove that the worst case scenario for not adhering to the request has come to pass.
The thing is, she did delete the tweets.
This user has screencapped incels scrambling to justify their belief the game is for man-haters, including a statement that he had dug up deleted tweets. These are old records.
These are the retweets, all made before joining the company (but again, the policy was that the tweets like this should be scrubbed). Most of them are just being catty. The most extreme statements are a scathing satire even a child could understand, and some general feminist sentiments which are not incendiary in any way. It seems they were screencapped to cement a pattern of passionate feelings on feminism.
In Korea, feminism is considered a wedge issue, which means basic activism becomes extremely politically charged. Think of it like how trans issues are being treated in America at the moment, or how "Critical Race Theory" was a wedge issue like 2 years ago. Nevertheless, the most hateful statements in these tweets are not "feminist", but rather annoyance at misogyny, and pretty obviously jokes.
The tweet that the incels are latching onto here states "if being a feminist makes me Megalia, I am Megalia. If being against patriarchy makes me anti-social, I am anti-social". Megalia was a scumbag leftist radfem group originating from Korea's 4chan (anonymous messageboards). It was bad enough that banning gay slurs created a splinter group. Megalia was well-known for mirroring misogynistic behaviours back onto men. They were reviled. An actress lost her job for wearing a T-shirt this group sold, even though the funds were going to supporting women seeking legal actions. Association with Megalia was reputation poison.
Notice I refer to them in the past tense, because Megalia shut down in 2017. The tweet was in 2018. You could not get any more obvious that the statement being made was "you can insult me by calling me Megalia, but I still believe in feminism". There is no association with this incendiary group.
Incels "supported" their argument with an image of Yi Sang holding a vial in basically one of the only 2 ways you can hold a vial, calling it a reference to 🤏, an emoji used as the Megalia logo interpreted to mean "men have small penises". This insane interpretation is being used to cement the whole company as misandrist.
Therefore: Project Moon fired their lead artist even though she didn't violate her contract because insane incels did a "how dare you say we piss on the poor" bad faith misinterpretation of deleted tweets in order to justify their belief that Project Moon is a man-hating company, and as a man-hating company deserves to be annihilated, leading to threats to staff.
The artist for Leviathan later stated that Project Moon pushed the comic forward with no buffer, and when the schedule became unbearable, they just cancelled it. They were told there was an issue with production (supported by the fact the company dropped the translation in favour of focusing on the game), but this news has made the artist pessimistic about the company's treatment of their art team. (Update: deleted, with a statement they feel they felt attached to their debut work, and struggle with feeling like they ran away.)
Here's the artist Vellmori's twitter if you would like to support them through this period.

I was pursuing your “Destiel” tag (thank you for posting it for that anon, btw, and bringing it back to my attention), and came across this statement from you:
“As a result, douchy Jensen + going off script = other actors trying to cope. My favorite was 2016 because that was when my girlfriend leaned close to the screen and said, "Jared, blink twice if you're being held against your will". Since then Jared had figured out how to handle these ~unscripted~ moments, but Misha hasn't.”
What was the moment in particular at 2016 JIB that made your girlfriend say that? Or what was Jensen going at that one? Wasn’t Gen at that one, too?
Also, what would you say Jared’s strategy has been in dealing with Jensen (when drunk) on stage at JIB? And why does Jensen seem “meaner” to Jared at JIB than at CE or AHBL cons? Which is closer to thier actual dynamic, do you think?
And I just have to add, it was pretty amusing seeing Misha momentarily (sadly not longer) regret his life choices at, was it 2019 JIB, where he pointed out the Destiel shirt and Jensen yelled about “where is it real?” Do you think Jensen was actually annoyed in this panel? I say yes, but my brother says no.
Jensen seems to keep it together more at JIBs post pandemic, but I was at JIB 13, and he gave off a huge air of just being over the whole thing by his solo Sunday panel. And he and Rich were essentially running out the clock by being loud idiots (my ears still hurt from being near a speaker).
They all claim to love JIB, but they also all seem pretty over it come Sunday.
Sorry that got long. Would love to see your response to any parts.
This was the first time I briefly talked about the infamous Jib con. Back in 2016 I used to think their co/dependent friendship was doomed at the 10-year mark because when one isn’t adjusting to the changing time, then the idolatries friendship can’t last more than 10 years at best. I listed a few examples (X) from a feminist blog about women ending their female friendships, a woman ending her friendship with a male friend (X) Oliver Broudy’s story of ending his 10-year friendship with a college friend (X). These friendships ended because one of them was stuck and making more and more demands on the unstuck friend. We know happened after season 10 wrapped up (X) (X).
Anyways, what got my girlfriend's attention was Jared looking like a tug of war rope between Gen and Jensen and the boys. Regular corporate SPN cons in the U.S are already a male-dominated atmosphere bordering on frat boy shenanigans. At least there are corporate handlers and security to help keep the actors in line, plus alcohol are banned for actors. Jib cons are fan-run with no handlers and alcohol are allowed, and usually there are no actresses because the cost of the extra Jensen/Misha and Jared/Misha panels means some actors are going to get cut out and it’s usually the actresses. Without female colleagues around, the men really rile each other up at Jib cons, it’s part of their bonding and one-upmanship rituals. I think why Gen rarely participated in SPN cons is because she didn't want to be around all that dude energy. But 2016 was different because I think she blamed herself for leaving the 2015 British con early and is still traumatize that she nearly lost Jared few days later, so Gen agreed to let Jared drag bring her to Jib con. Men don’t like wives/girlfriends homing in on their bro times and Jensen was noticeable irritated that Jared’s wife was there and during the closing ceremony Jensen used air quotations marks while talking about Gen’s marriage to Jared who had his arms wrapped around her. He looked peeved at Jensen and then then laughed it off because what else could he do on stage?
(Side note: it’s not easy for men to find male friends and keeping them. I hated the movie I love you, man because it was too familiar, and Paterson made me uneasy because Adam Driver's character has no male friends and he's more than okay with that because he has a wife.)
Jensen seems "meaner" not just to Jared but to every actor there, especially Misha. At these fan-run conventions, there are no "scripts" (guidelines actually) to follow. Most actors were still going by the guidelines from corporate-run conventions when they're on stage, but not Jensen because it's part of his upmanship as a way to both bond and dominate others. It's a Ryan Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman type situation. Maybe Jensen learned this trick from Ryan who used to be his roommate. Misha is not a natural improviser, his guest appearance on Whose Line Is it Anyways shows that, so he's the least apt at handling Jensen's off script moments. Half the time Jensen wasn't actually drunk but acts like it to avoid the inevitable asinine Destiel-loaded questions from the hellers in the audience.
Jared's strategy was about the same at pre-2016 JIB cons and CE cons because he's pretty apt at smoothing things over between Jensen and the fans. At the infamous 2013 New Jersey con a self-claiming bisexual girl tried to ask Jensen a loaded Destiel question and he snapped at her with, “don’t ruin it for everybody” and Jared immediately calmed Jensen down and salvaged the rest of the experience for sane fans.
Stuff like this is closer to their real life dynamic as the Giver and the Taker. If you read the "codependency tag", Jared the Giver cleans up the messes the Taker make. Givers think they're helping but they're actually enabling and don't improve things. Jensen's reputation took a slight hit, and it took a few years for the New Jersey con to be memory-holed. Apparently Jensen didn't learn from this and 3 years later mocked a girl wearing a "Destiel is real" shirt at the 2019 JIB. Misha told Jensen to not “fight with fans” and Jared was gesturing to a fan in the front row as if saying don’t look at me look at him. That may answer your question, Jared stopped trying to calm Jensen down and instead focus on heading off fans who gets too snippy at Jensen, like at a DC con few years back where a girl was trying to look cool but came off sounding hostile towards Jensen, so Jared left the stage and hugged the stuffings out of the girl, deflating her hostile-sounding voice.
I don't think I've seen Jensen's solo panel at JIB13, but he's usually looks like he's watching the clock during his Jared-less panels so that's nothing new. It's been the case for many years and a common complaint by fans, it's why CE stopped having solo J panels early on because Jensen needs a scene partner. It goes back to why Jensen works better as a scene-stealing supporting actor instead of a leading man. How Jensen made Dean Winchester have memorable moments was by putting his focus on the other person. By using this method, Jensen can stop worrying about how he’s going to say his lines and speak intuitively, this helps make Dean appear truthful to the audience. It may be why Jensen doesn’t read scripts ahead of time. Jensen doesn’t go into a scene looking to do a scene, instead he goes in looking to be open and give over to how the other person (in this case, Jared playing Sam) makes him feel. This method worked great for Jensen when his character has Sam to focus on, and Jensen has Jared to react to. It’s why Dean’s dying moments with Sam in the barn works so well in the series’ finale.
.
You probably heard of the saying, “acting is reacting”.
A demon’s acting philosophy in The Good Place: “Demons have to learn that Acting Is Reacting. And Reacting Is Pre-acting. But Pre-acting? Well, that’s just being.”
While “acting is reacting” gets mocked in the acting community because it’s a trap alot of actors fall into by adjusting their truthful inner life to their assumptions about the text. Good acting is adjusting the text to your authentic emotion which is the result of the other person. This where Jensen’s good acting comes from and it’s become his comfort zone and made him a multimillionaire by his mid 30s. He’s in what my acting coach calls “the truthful contact”, it’s where actors are taught the first stage of authentic acting. The next stage is “crafting”. When you’re working solo without a screen partner, your skill at crafting becomes vital. Crafting means anywhere from ability to endow meaning to objects so they have emotional meaning is important, or effectively get across justifications and point of views.

Adèle Haenel : le cinéaste Christophe Ruggia condamné pour agressions sexuelles sur mineure
by Marine Turchi - Mediapart, February 3, 2025
AP photo by Aurelien Morissard
Five years after the revelations in Mediapart, actress Adèle Haenel has won her case in court. On Monday February 3, filmmaker Christophe Ruggia was sentenced to four years' imprisonment, including two years under electronic surveillance, for sexual abuse of a 15-year-old minor.
She wanted «justice for this child whom no one protected». The courts listened to Adèle Haenel when, on Monday February 3, they sentenced Christophe Ruggia to four years' imprisonment, including two years under electronic surveillance.
Closely following the recommendations of the public prosecutor, the Paris Criminal Court found the director guilty of sexually assaulting the actress when she was a minor. It emphasized that Christophe Ruggia had «taken advantage of the influence» he had over the young actress «as a result of the exclusive relationship» he had established during the filming of Les Diables (2002), in which Adèle Haenel played the lead role. At the time of the events, from 2001 to 2004, she was between 12 and 15 years old, and he was between 36 and 39.
The court also prohibited the director from working with minors for five years, and ordered him to pay the actress 40,000 euros in compensation for emotional distress and medical expenses, plus 10,000 euros for legal costs.
In his reading of the verdict, the president of the court emphasized the fact that Adèle Haenel had confided in several people close to her, in the years before she spoke out in Mediapart in 2019, but he also mentioned the revelations of people in Christophe Ruggia's entourage at the time.
When the decision was announced, the 35-year-old actress, wearing a grey suit and green shirt, remained stone-faced. Accompanied by her lawyers, Anouck Michelin and Yann Le Bras, she quickly left the courtroom to lengthy applause from the audience. She addressed only the «activists» present: «Thank you for being here to advance human rights, and thank you for the support.»
«It's not up to us to be satisfied or dissatisfied with this decision, nor to comment on the severity of the sentence», responded her lawyer, Anouck Michelin, adding: «We recognize the fact that the court found Christophe Ruggia guilty of the charges against him. That was the key thing, that was what we were fighting for. And that's what motivates Adèle Haenel today: to hear the court say that she is Christophe Ruggia's victim.»
Through her «deeply moving but more importantly genuine» statement in Mediapart, the actress had «identified a problem of society, of power, of patriarchy», recalled her lawyer, and above all «raised the question of whether justice could be heard for the victims»: «Today, we have a key component of an answer, and if we have to play this game again on appeal, we'll play it again», concluded Mr. Michelin.
There will indeed be a hearing before the Court of Appeal: Christophe Ruggia, who was also present at the deliberations, immediately went to the court clerk's office to appeal the decision. His lawyer, Fanny Colin, reiterated that his client «maintains that he never touched Adèle Haenel». «Here, the law of the most powerful, of the one who screams the loudest, of the one who has the unconditional support of public opinion, has crushed the fundamental principle of law, which is the benefit of the doubt. The court's decision leaves us with the bitter feeling that injustice is preferable to chaos, which Christophe Ruggia's acquittal would have brought about», explained the lawyer as she left the hearing.
On the courthouse steps and in the courtroom, feminist activists, figures from the French #MeToo movement and from the world of cinema, such as actresses Judith Godrèche and Aïssa Maïga, had come to support Adèle Haenel.
Two months earlier, at the end of a very tense trial, the prosecutor, Camille Poch, had asked the court to sentence the filmmaker to two years' detention - which could be carried out via electronic surveillance - to «set the world straight, remind us of the forbidden, and who was the child, who was the adult». She was referring to Adèle Haenel's words on the Mediapart set in 2019: «If I speak out, it's not to destroy Christophe, it's to set the world straight [...], so that perpetrators stop strutting around and face what they’ve done, so that shame is embedded where it belongs.»
It was in a Mediapart investigation that year that Adèle Haenel recounted, in great detail, the Saturday afternoons she spent at Christophe Ruggia's home, after filming of Les Diables ended in the early 2000s. The Cadbury Finger blanc cookies and Orangina that the filmmaker always placed on the small table in the living room; the conversations during which he would «go off the rails», according to her; the hands he would slide «under her t-shirt», «on her thigh moving down towards [her] sex» and his kisses «on her neck», which she would try to escape by fleeing from the sofa to the armchair and then to the footrest, «which was so small that he couldn't get close to [her]».
Her story was corroborated by several witnesses’ testimonies, collected by Mediapart and then by the courts from the film's crew, some of whom attested to the director's «hold» over the young actress, and from those close to her, who recounted their «discomfort» at the time or the teenager's attempts to express herself over the years.
But two testimonies from Christophe Ruggia's entourage at the time carried particular weight. One of Ruggia's former girlfriends, director Mona Achache, recounted the filmmaker's confessions to her in 2011, notably that he had «romantic feelings» for the young actress. His sister Véronique Ruggia, who was his assistant on the set of Les Diables, confirmed that she had questioned him after a discussion with Adèle Haenel - who had hinted at complaints about his behavior a few years after the fact.
The actress's accusations were also backed up by written documents, such as a letter to Christophe Ruggia, written in 2014 and never sent, in which she denounced the facts in detail and used the word «pedophilia»; or the two letters sent to her by the director in 2006 and 2007, in which he mentioned his «love for [her]», which «was sometimes too much to bear». Police investigations also uncovered a Google search for «adèle haenel hot» on the filmmaker's computer in 2011 (the actress was 22 at the time) and a manuscript entitled «Adèle Haenel m'a tué» (2019), in which he wrote that «Adèle and her 12 years had an overwhelming sensuality».
Although he conceded a kind of «domination» as a director, and acknowledged that he had «made the mistake of playing Pygmalion», Christophe Ruggia has always denied any sexual abuse and attributed the actress's accusations to a film project that ultimately came to nothing in 2004.
He cultivated this theory of revenge during the hearing in December, while denouncing the «Stalinist trial» in which Mediapart was «the prosecutor»: «I was considered guilty by everyone from the start! #MeToo was going to happen in France, and it landed on me! There was a strategy behind it.»
An «absurd defense», dismissed the prosecutor. On the stand, Adèle Haenel called everyone to account: «But who's the adult? Who was there to tell this child: “It's not your fault”?»
The court's decision was eagerly awaited. Firstly, because this case opened the door to the French #MeToo movement, two years after its launch in the United States. Adèle Haenel's outspokenness in Mediapart caused an upheaval in the film world and in society at large, where the universal scope of her testimony resonated strongly. The press unanimously hailed it as a «chilling one-hour scream», a «manifesto», a «new and powerful voice» that «reinvigorated the #MeToo movement» and marked a «historic date».
In the five years since, the actress has become the standard-bearer for those who denounce the impunity of sexual abusers, and a symbol of resistance. In 2020, she walked out of the César ceremony with an iconic «Shame!» to protest the three prizes awarded to Roman Polanski, who has been accused of rape by several teenage girls. In 2023, she turned her back on the film world in which she had succeeded, to denounce the industry's complacency towards sexual and gender-based violence. In 2024, at the trial, she never took her eyes off Christophe Ruggia, and pounded her fist on the table when he went so far as to appropriate the new surname she had chosen as a young actress: «Shut the hell up!»
On Monday February 3, the court's decision was also anticipated because of Adèle Haenel's criticism of the judicial system in 2019. By choosing to address a media outlet rather than the courts, the actress had raised the issue of judicial dysfunction in the handling of complaints of sexual violence, more than two-thirds of which are dismissed. In Mediapart, she explained that she had never given thought to the justice system, which «rarely condemns sexual abusers», and added, in a phrase that left a lasting impression: «Justice ignores us, so we ignore justice.»
Three days after the Mediapart revelations, the Paris public prosecutor's office opened an investigation. Adèle Haenel decided not to «back down» and to lodge a complaint: «Justice has taken a step, so I will as well», she told Mediapart.
The judiciary acted swiftly. Within two months, the investigation, assigned to a unit specializing in child abuse cases, led to Christophe Ruggia’s being held in police custody for forty-eight hours, and then to an indictment for sexual assault of a 15-year-old minor.
Adèle Haenel was aware of this throughout the proceedings: time and resources were devoted to her case, and «competent», «sensitive» police officers and magistrates «who take their jobs to heart» were assigned to it. But she was never fooled by the «public relations campaign». «I imagine that the State wants to set an example and prove through my case that, no, there are no problems in the judicial handling of cases of sexual violence», she explained to us in an interview in 2021. The actress said ironically: «Like in the Soviet Union back in the day, I feel like I'm being shown the display case, the most beautiful places, the most beautiful municipal gymnasium.»
Christophe Ruggia and his lawyers quickly complained about the speed of justice, and in 2020, they obtained the cancellation of his police custody and the lifting of the obligation to submit to psychological care, laid down in his supervision order.
Despite this procedural victory, the investigation file grew thicker with each passing month. In August 2024, after five years of investigations, the judge decided to refer the filmmaker to the criminal court, emphasizing the «detailed, constant and precise» denunciations made by the actress, «her state of shock» at the time of the events, their «psychological repercussions», «the significant age difference between the two parties» and «the occurrence of progressive psychological coercion» applied by the director. For Adèle Haenel, seeing these words written in black and white served as the first validation, and provoked «a lot of emotion», she told Mediapart.
During the trial, the actress was immediately questioned by the presiding judge about her desire to speak out in the media rather than go to court. Why didn't she file a complaint at the time? Had she considered the consequences for Christophe Ruggia? This was a way for the magistrate to avoid mentioning the questioning of the actress in 2019, which had irritated a section of the judicial world by holding up a mirror to an institution incapable of handling these cases. The question had shocked the actress. No, she hadn't thought about the consequences for the man she accused of molesting her as a child. «At that moment, I spoke out because it was impossible to remain silent. I was only thinking about this unbearable, enforced silence.»

Asking permission would be nice in an ideal world, but I’m a realist – I know far too well how easy it is to appropriate stuff on Tumblr. I would be the first to admit that my translations are not perfect – there are some words and phrases that simply do not drop neatly into an equivalent in English, and I constantly fix typos and make changes or corrections in older posts – but they do take a lot of work and time. Thanks for understanding. - C.]

The curtain falls on the mass rape trial that shocked the world and saw Gisèle Pelicot emerge as a feminist hero.
After two and a half months of hearings, the Criminal Court in Avignon on Thursday found 51 defendants guilty of the rape, attempted rape and sexual assault of Gisèle Pelicot. The majority of defendants were handed prison terms of three-to-15 years – less than the four-to-18 years demanded by the prosecution.
Gisèle Pelicot’s ex-husband, Dominique Pelicot, received the heaviest sentence of 20 years in prison for drugging his wife and inviting strangers he met online to rape her for nearly a decade. He received a two-thirds minimum sentence period, meaning he won't be eligible to ask for early release until at least two-thirds of his sentence has been served.
Dominique Pelicot's lawyer, Béatrice Zavarro, who said she would consider an appeal, described her client as “stunned”. But she also expressed hope that Gisèle Pelicot would find solace in the rulings.
“I wanted Mrs. Pelicot to be able to emerge from these hearings in peace, and I think that the verdicts will contribute to this relief for Mrs. Pelicot," she said.
‘Here, we judge; we do not legislate’
The shortest prison sentences were handed to two defendants, known to the media as Joseph C. and Saiffedine G., who both received three years in prison with two years suspended for aggravated sexual assault. Saiffedine G.’s crime was reclassified as sexual assault in the verdict.
Another defendant, Hassan O., who fled to Morocco and never appeared in court, was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison.
Around 40 of the defendants went straight from the courtroom to prison but others will not be incarcerated straight away.
The defendants have 10 days to appeal the judgment.
Overall the punishments handed down were less severe than those requested by the public prosecutor, who at the end of November called for sentences of four to 18 years for the majority of defendants and the maximum penalty of 20 years of criminal imprisonment for Dominique Pelicot.
Many of the defendants received 12-year prison sentences – slightly longer than the average sentence for rape of 11.1 years in 2022 according to the ministry of justice.
“The sentences were adjusted, and that's a good thing,” said Roland Marbillot, a lawyer for two of the defendants.
“One of my clients won't be incarcerated right away; the other will but will likely be released in a few weeks or months."
Marbillot added: "I would like to remind everyone that here we judge; we do not legislate," noting that it was a good thing that “the debate on consent did not dominate this trial”.
The mass rape trial has reignited the debate about the absence of consent as a legal criterion for rape in France.
France’s criminal code currently defines rape as a sexual act committed "by violence, coercion, threat or surprise", with no notion of whether or not consent is necessary.
At the end of September, the outgoing Minister of Justice Didier Migaud expressed his support for including consent in the French Penal Code.
‘I think of all the unrecognised victims’
Gisèle Pelicot and her lawyers arrived at the courthouse shortly after 9am, surrounded by a swarm of cameras. Her three children, Caroline, Florian, and David, were also present with their spouses.
Inside the courtroom, the red-haired septuagenarian, dressed in a blue striped shirt, nodded as the sentences were announced.
After the hearing, Gisèle Pelicot declined to answer questions but read a statement in which she thanked her loved ones: “I think of my three children. I also think of my grandchildren, who are the future, and it is also for them that I am fighting this battle.”
She also paid tribute to the “other families affected by this tragedy” and other victims of sexual assault. To “the unrecognised victims whose stories remain in the shadows… we share the same fight," she said.
Gisèle Pelicot did not comment on individual sentences but she said she respected the court’s verdict and did not regret her decision to make the trial public, in order to raise awareness about the use of drugs to enable sexual assault.
“By opening the doors to this trial, I wanted society to engage with the debates, and I have never regretted it,” she said.
‘Shame on justice’
Outside the courtroom supporters of Gisèle Pelicot gathered to hear the verdicts, which many felt were too lenient. Several chanted “Shame on justice!” and “Justice is complicit!” after they were announced.
"Feminists and women feel humiliated, disappointed and angry that the courts have handed down extremely low sentences,” said Blandine Deverlanges, president of the feminist collective Les Amazones d'Avignon. “Tonight, dozens of men will be going home and it's really unbearable to think that these men will be able to spend Christmas with their families."
Feminist groups are planning to protest at 1pm on Friday over the verdict, which they believe does not reflect the gravity of the crimes against Gisèle Pelicot.
“The question we're asking ourselves is whether women will continue to have confidence in the justice system,” Deverlanges said. “Personally, I'm beginning to despair and I think that women are going to start organising themselves to deliver justice.”
A lawyer for one of the defendants, Christophe Bruschi, was jostled and jeered by more than 100 feminist protesters, whom he referred to as “knitters”.
Throughout the trial, tensions between the defence and some feminist groups ran high, with lawyers accusing the groups of trying to influence the judges. Three weeks earlier, city officials removed a banner reading “20 years for all”, hung on the ramparts opposite the courthouse.
For the final day of the sprawling 15-week trial, which has seen scores of defendants take the stand, the courts implemented exceptional security measures, with nearly 200 police officers and gendarmes securing the courthouse in Avignon.
In an indication of how the trial has captured global attention, there were also four broadcast rooms for journalists and the public.
At around 1:30pm a cheer rose up as Gisèle Pelicot left the courthouse under heavy police escort.
Women outside the courtroom chanted “Thank you, Gisèle!” as she slowly made her way through the crowds

Does any other lolita (ex-lolita?) feel like she can't get herself to enjoy the fashion anymore because of ideological (for the lack of a better word) reasons?
I feel so disillusioned with the consumerism of it all, "regular" fashion included. I've started to feel disgusted with the idea of spending huge amounts of money on clothes and dressing up has lost its appeal. It also clashes with my views on feminism (inb4 "lolita is a feminist fashion" I disagree with that statement and don8't feel like discussing it, you're free to believe otherwise but it's not the point of this post).
Can anyone else relate? It feels alienating when reasons why people leave the fashion almost never line up with my own doubts. There are still dresses I absolutely love and never got to wear (l never even got to wear any of my dream dresses because they were very rare and usually too expensive) but I can't help but dislike that kind of decadence. It's a very confusing time for me, it's been like this for a while. Outside of lolita I just wear jeans and t-shirts, I've mostly stopped caring about fashion yet it used to be such a huge passion of mine...

#I never got along with my comm either I always felt like an outsider#so I don't even have the social benefits of wearing lolita#egl fashion#egl#lolita fashion#lolita fashion community#egl community#leaving lolita#consumerism

No straight man would wear a shirt that says "the more i know men the more i love my dog" lol.
Well, some would. LOL! It can be viewed as a feminist statement just as much as a gay one. But Harry wears a lot of questionable t-shirts 😅😅😅

direct article link regarding shift-up, stellar blade developer, removing a woman’s work from their gacha game Destiny Child for defending feminism
I’ll make this its own post (original here) because I’ve seen people believing this didn’t happen, or there was some twitter thread that was deleted so it means it didn’t happen. this is a link to a direct Korean news source regarding what happened:

article regarding SHIFT-UP removing an artist’s work from their gacha game “Destiny Child” after she said there shouldn’t be a problem being a feminist and voiced support for the VA, Kim Jayeon, that Nexon fired for taking a photo of herself wearing a shirt that said “Girls Do Not Need A Prince”. The shirt was part of a fundraiser to help victims of domestic violence (see the npr article linked below) , the rates of which are especially high for women living in South Korea. You can note here that literally anything vaguely feminist is met with “are you megal?” (referring to the defunct website megalia) and it doesn’t even matter how she responds. This woman made some simple statements and is smeared as some feminist terrorist. tbh sometimes it’s an uphill battle trying to explain to anyone, especially on the western internet, that these women aren’t making some evil dogwhistle to the feminist illuminati when they make basic feminist statements. I’ve gotten called “terf/terf sympathizer” (???) for trying to explain that the artist Vellmori was being smeared on the western web with the term “terf” as a targeted campaign by Korean incels who know that term puts a target on your back and nothing else about it. I am of course not saying megalia was a totally unproblematic site with no ideological problems but none of these women being attacked and fired are saying anything like “yeah the homophobia was great” they’re literally advocating for basic women’s rights. I’m also not saying “basic” in a condescending way, on the contrary I think these women are brave for speaking out and have created complex feminist ideologies and movements. “Basic” and “simple” are meant to show the absurdity in the reaction (extreme male anger, firing, censorship, etc) in relation to the original statement (molka is bad, it’s fine to be a feminist, etc).
this is an article in English regarding the VA who wore the shirt:

Whatever your thoughts on megalia the fundraiser wasn’t even made by the main site as you can read in the NPR article. Regardless of your opinion regarding how this was handled it was a misogynistic act of feminist ideological verification.

Excuse Me, I'm Speaking: Kamala Harris Apparel for the Unapologetic Visionary
The phrase "Excuse Me, I'm Speaking" became inextricably linked with Kamala Harris during the 2020 U.S. Vice Presidential debate. This moment not only defined a key part of Harris's public persona but also resonated deeply with many viewers, particularly women and minorities who have faced similar experiences of being interrupted or talked over.

During the debate with then-Vice President Mike Pence, Harris firmly but politely asserted herself when interrupted, stating, "Mr. Vice President, I'm speaking." She repeated variations of this phrase several times throughout the debate, each time reclaiming her right to finish her thoughts without interruption. This moment quickly went viral, capturing the attention of millions of viewers and sparking widespread discussion on social media platforms.
The phrase struck a chord with many people who have experienced similar situations in professional, academic, or personal settings. It became a rallying cry for those advocating for equal respect and representation in conversations, particularly for women and minorities in male-dominated fields. Many saw Harris's calm yet assertive response as a masterclass in handling interruptions and maintaining composure under pressure.

Harris's use of this phrase also highlighted the broader issue of "manterrupting," a term coined to describe the tendency of men to interrupt women in professional settings. This moment brought increased attention to gender dynamics in political debates, workplace meetings, and other professional contexts.
The impact of this phrase extended far beyond the debate. It quickly became a cultural touchstone, appearing on merchandise such as t-shirts, mugs, and face masks. Many people, especially women in professional fields, embraced these items as symbols of empowerment and solidarity.

However, the popularization of this phrase also led to some criticism. Some viewed it as an oversimplification of complex gender dynamics or as the commodification of a serious issue. Others debated whether the focus on this moment detracted from substantive policy discussions.
For Kamala Harris, this phrase became a defining part of her public image during the campaign and beyond. It reinforced her reputation as a strong, assertive leader and resonated with her campaign's themes of breaking barriers and giving voice to the underrepresented.

As the first woman, first Black person, and first person of South Asian descent to become U.S. Vice President, Harris's use of "Excuse me, I'm speaking" took on additional significance. It symbolized not just her individual assertion in that debate, but also the broader struggle for representation and respect faced by many in politics and beyond.
In essence, "Excuse Me, I'm Speaking" and Kamala Harris became intertwined in the public consciousness, representing a powerful moment of assertiveness, a call for respect, and a symbol of changing dynamics in American politics and society at large.

people arguing on that post I made about going topless during the apocalypse and not realizing I’m a trans man. it isn’t a feminist bra burning statement nor is it about comfort. I hate clothing autistically and I’m and I’m forced to wear a shirt by this society and my female presenting nipples. you don’t have to take your tits out if you don’t want to. I want to and the only thing stopping me is other people. I also have tiny tits so I know it’s not applicable to everyone. its a post about me and what I would

Where do you get clothes for your Nagito plushie? It’s so cute !! (I’m planning to buy one too )
Thank you for your ask anon, good question :D!!
His clothes are basically on him and unremovable but I assume you're talking about the extra clothes I add sometimes?
Okay so funnily enough, the extra clothes other than the ones he has on him come from a brand called nuiMOS and for the photos like the "women empower women" one the context is that my friend had gotten some clothes for his stuffed animal but the clothes had a zipper so you couldn't see the shirt at first glance so it had an entire feminist statement on it and he had no clue so we had a good laugh about it when we found out and he was like "well now what do I do I don't really want this?" and I just was like "here give it to me I'll do something funny with it"
Most any of the clothes I have him wear comes from the specific packs nuiMOS have of just clothes, although they're a Disney brand that you'd see at the parks mostly so I don't know if they're hard to get in other places? I think they're pretty easy to just see online there's lots of cute outfits that I can put on small plushies that usually fit from there and the dress up dolls themselves are cute too I have a marie one and she's pretty cute!!
I wish I could get the rest of the aristocrats but they're japan exclusive and WAY too expensive for a silly dress up cat I just have on my shelf LMFAO
here are the ones I've used and posted!!!

do you know what's the general radfem stance on goth style? because I know radfems aren't fond of makeup and tight clothing (goths very often makeup a lot and sometimes use corsets, though it depends on goth) and unpractical clothing (goth use boots with block heels from what I've seen). this is not a troll I'm genuinely interested since I don't really identify as radfem but I agree with a lot of radfem thinking
I don't identify as a radfem either.
Whatever you do, do not throw away your beautiful goth closet.
When I look at modern goth subculture, the part where it's really lost the plot is makeup. I think the makeup industry has become too much of an eldritch behemoth. Quality black lipstick used to be something you could only buy from small independent goth makeup brands. Now, goth makeup is sold at Sephora. There are endless hours of goth makeup videos getting millions and millions of views. Sitting and watching makeup tutorials doesn't feel very goth to me at all. I think in this post-COVID makeup society, goth relationship to makeup needs to evolve. Instead of following a goth tutorial with 20 makeup products, learn to make a statement with only two.
As for corsets, I don't really care as long as a woman isn't wearing corsets for obsessive body dysmorphia reasons. Also, when corsets are worn as more of a fetish gear thing, that's leaving the realm of goth. The morbid irony of wearing a corset only really works if you're dressed as a victorian ghost creature. I think corsets actually ruin the cyber goth look. The best cyber goth looks feature fishnet shirts and abs and midriffs. I can't imagine wearing a real corset at a rave. That just seems sweaty and not very fun.
As long as something is comfortable to wear, who cares if it's practical or not. I actually think trench coats, platform boots, and long hair are all practical. In fact, steel-plated platform combat boots should be feminist praxis.

becomes a wannabe feminist,// to be fair, he has the most political statements when he met Olivia, not just fake femnist. You are so right about everything else.
// 🤣🤣, what political statements? - he had DWD and My Policeman to sell. Without those movies - that guy wouldn't have taken a stance on anything. That guy gets praised and appreciated for just existing.
He had voter registration drives at his shows. He took that picture with Beto:

He wore that vote t-shirt:

And the biggest statement was probably this:

(This post was just to show what political statements he made. We are not opening the blog for a discussion on politics.)

Retailers are still caught in the post-holiday/season seven slump. I visited Rue 21, Spencer's, Hot Topic, Marshall's, Five Below and a "nerdy" store, and nothing--no new merchandise.
Hot Topic did greet me with a couple of pride flags, courtesy of Kirby and Kermit the Frog:

Pickle Rick finally had some friends in Spencer's. Evidently, rescuing him from the bottom of the pile paid off.

Outside the mall, one thrift store had a new gift set.

And these guys were waiting for me at the head shop. Pickle Rick: now with arms! He giggles shyly as if he made a joke.

Otherwise, Adult Swim apparently isn't shipping new apparel. When I worked in retail, January and February were slow because everyone had blown all their money over the holidays.
But you wouldn't know it since Microsoft urges me to go shopping every time I open the browser:
SHEIN was one of the options, so I thought "OK, let's see what crazy junk merchandise they have for sale." Boy, they didn't disappoint.
I guess we're making merchandise for the worst character in the worst episode ever made? I mean, is there a genuine demand for the sperm queen from "Rickdependence Spray"?

He turned himself into a washcloth.
Pickle Rick guards your pencils!
Oh God, she's back! We get THIS but no Crow Witch Rick shirt? 🐦⬛
I think that we as a fandom would benefit if someone drew Rick wearing this.
Seriously, how has nobody drawn Rick wearing his own merchandise? He would totally do that!
I don't recommend buying from SHEIN due to their shady business practices, but aside from that, it's nice to Adult Swim marketing Rick and Morty to women. I realize they're just lining their pockets, not making a feminist statement, but some shows don't take it well when they attract a female/LGBT audience.
Sorry, bros, but the girlies are here to stay.

This is not directed to that anon but I disagree with the statement that everything ex muslim women say is true. While I do sympathize with them that's why I never speak on them bc the best thing to do is just leave them alone so they can heal on their own but some of them just don't know how to read the fucking room. Like when that stupid discourse started about hijabs in the middle of a genocide bc of that video of a guy wrapping his shirt around a woman's head to cover her hair. God forbid a woman has agency. If we will have nothing else left anyways why not leave one thing in our own control? And people saying that they wouldn't have taken her out otherwise omfg- WHERE did you see her safety being compromised? she was first taken out then they helped her cover up better
i think this is a good example of why it's necessary even if uncomfortable to balance various nuances against each other. i completely agree that the discourse around that video was ill-timed, disrespectful, and presumptive. and i vehemently disagree with the presumption from a lot of radical feminists and terfs that palestinian women in this moment share more material reality with israeli women than they do with palestinian men. that discourse was a perfect example of the lack of intersectionality inherent to a lot of purportedly feminist spaces. but as i mentioned in the very first ask i don't think we can deny ourselves the reality of something even if it's not necessarily the most pressing thing to address in a given moment. palestinian liberation is the foremost priority right now, but like any ethnic group, the palestinians are possessive of various hierarchies whether with regards to class, race, gender, etc. the civilian population at large doesn't have the infrastructure to work towards addressing those hierarchies currently. but they exist nonetheless and they are contributive to material realities regardless of how minimally important we may perceive them to be in the face of the rampant destruction. and i think to be good activists we have to be intelligent and patient enough to not let people with the wrong intentions prevent us from acknowledging those realities or having conversations about them if they are prompted from a place of good faith. obv in this situation they were not. but it's not to say every single person who wants to talk about those material realities is simultaneously incapable of wholeheartedly advocating for the liberation of the people. a very large part of advocating against phenomena like ethnic cleansing is acknowledging that people don't have to be perfect to earn your support in that regard. you advocate against ethnic cleansing and genocide because it is wrong and evil to do. not because the morality of the people you're supporting is pristine and without flaw
#outbox#and to be clear i am saying this in the most general sense and not with respect to the video specifically#obv i think to say that he wouldn't have retrieved her had she not been wearing a hijab is delusional
