fandom can be awful sometimes so heres a few reminders for my beloved mutuals:

- do whatever you want forever. if its not harming anyone or yourself you are amazing and you should continue doing it if it makes you happy

- ship wars/discourse suck ass. if its not a proship its fine, if someone has a different ship than you or interprets a ship differently you dont have to fight with them.

- your ocs are the best thing on this planet and you should share them

- your oc x canon is so wonderful and lovely and you should share it

- the ocs you created to be family members of other characters are awesome and you should share them

- your headcanons and interpretations of characters are awesome and you should share them

- hit that character with the beam. you know you want to. make them trans, make them gay, make them poc, make them disabled, make them fat, whatever makes you happy

- if someone is mean to you blow them up (hit the block button)

- be nice to others. support their art, their stories, their ocs and headcanons and ships, even if you arent very interested in them. stay curious!! ask about peoples ideas, because most of the time they want to share just as much as you do

- if other people have different interpretations or ideas, you dont have to agree or disagree with them. its okay to appreciate others opinions without telling them that theyre wrong

- if anyones ships/ideas/etc make you too uncomfortable, block them.

- if someone is too annoying to see in the tags, block them.

- if anyone is mean to you, block them. especially hate anons

- write whatever you want always. draw whatever you want always. draw those girls kissing draw that enby covered in blood write about that man going to see the dentist

- draw them as furries, as dragons, as humans, as objects, whatever your heart desires

- your selfship partner loves you always

- people arent always right about characters. sometimes theyre way far from canon, and its not really your place to correct them. if it makes you too uncomfortable block them.

- some people choose to not follow canon. do what you want forever, you are always right about your blorbo. you are not limited to canon or what the fandom depicts the character as

- dont be the one to send anon hate

- its okay to be a hater and a lover. you can hatepost on your blog just as much as you lovepost. just dont main tag it (thats mean) and dont add it onto other peoples posts who like what youre hating on (thats also mean)

- if someone is hating on something you like, its best not to engage with it.

It has finally been a month and it’s time for you to go back home.  The door is finally open today and you are saying your goodbyes to everyone.  With your bag and dead phone in hand you look at the door.  It’s been a long month, you’ve made great memories with everyone, but it's time to go

Arthur: Oh don't cry now, luv.  It isn’t too late to change your mind and stay here with me~

Isaac: Even while she’s getting ready to leave you are still trying to win her over

Everyone is giving their farewells and saying how you will be missed.  You are doing your best to hold back tears so not to hear Theo going on about how you crying is going to get Vincent to start crying and how dare you make broer upset at a time like this.  In the beginning you thought he was being harsh about it but he’s just a tease.

Mitsuki: Thank you everyone, for everything this last month.

Comte: I will come with you to make sure you get back safely.

He smiles and reaches for the door handle.  After pulling it open, the view on the other side is all distorted and not like the long hallway of antiques that it should be. Leonardo quickly pulls you back, not sure what this passageway is going to do, and Comte shuts the door.

All of the guys looked shocked at what they had just seen.  In all the years they have all been here they have never seen the door this way, and Comte uses it nearly every month to travel.  You weren’t sure what to think.  What was wrong with it?  Comte was having the same thought.  He moved the door handle again to make sure it wasn’t still open and took a step back, still looking at the door.

Leonardo: Sebastian, why don’t you take Mitsuki to her room.

Leonardo lets you go, and Sebastian places an arm around you since you still seem to be a little in a shock.

Napoleon: Do you know what could have caused this, Comte?

Comte: No.  It’s never looked like that before.

He gets lost in his thoughts for a few moments.  

Comte: I’m going to need time to look into this

Comte turns and leaves the group.

Sebastian helped you get back to your room. And got you to sit on your bed

Sebastian: Mitsuki? How are you feeling?

It’s not that the scene before you had scared you, it was the realization that you couldn’t go home.  Going home is what helped you get through this last month.  It’s what pushed you to get out of bed each morning.

Mitsuki: I’m fine.  I’ll just need to wait another month, right?  Comte is going to figure out what is wrong with the door and get this figured out.  

That’s what you were telling yourself.  It’s bad enough you were already gone for a month.  Did the same amount of time pass? When you go through the door will it be a month later or the same day?

Sebastian: I’ll go make you some tea.

With that he leaves the room and to the kitchen.  You lay down in your bed and look up at the ceiling wondering what was going to happen now

For the next few days you are acting like nothing happened.  Still doing chores around the mansion, going out to do some shopping.  Waiting out this time seems much different from the first month.  You do your best to act the same around the guys.  They’ve done so much for you and you know they still will so you don’t want everyone to be upset.

Arthur: Don’t you think that is enough syrup? 

Theo: Did I ask?

Theo is still pouring syrup on his pancakes.  You start to think it's going to pour over the plate.  The most amazing thing is that when he’s done there won’t be any left on his plate.

Arthur: And how much sugar did you put in your coffee?

Theo: Again, I don’t think I asked

He starts eating his drenched pancakes.  Meanwhile Vincent is beside him eating his pancakes with a new jam you picked up earlier in the week.  A normal amount of it too.

You set a plate down in front of Arthur.  All he asked for today was waffles and eggs.  You have already refilled his mug once this morning.

Mitsuki: Are you working on a new book, Arthur?  You only drink this much when you have been awake for hours.

Arthur: I’m trying to but I am a little stuck right now.

Theo: Are you doing anything this afternoon, Hondje?

Mitsuki: This afternoon?  I had some shopping I needed to do.  Why?

Theo: I have to pick up a few paintings from an artist in town and need a hand carrying them.

Mitsuki: Doesn’t Vincent normally help you with that?

Theo: Yeah but he is busy getting some paintings done for the gallery we are having later this month.

Vincent had pancakes in his mouth and couldn’t speak when you brought up his name. But he did nod his head when Theo explained.

Mitsuki: I would be happy to help

Theo: I will help you with your shopping afterwards

You smile and end up leaving the dining room to let Sebastian know and to get a full list of what you guys need.

Arthur: I thought you were done with all of your paintings for the gallery?

Vincent: I am

Vincent looks at Theo since this was his idea.

Theo: You know how she’s been.  Having her help with the gallery would help her keep her mind off of everything.

Arthur: Aren’t you a softy~

Later that morning you left with Theo and your shopping list and took a carriage into town.  The carriage took you straight to the artist’s apartment where you and Theo picked up a few paintings for the gallery.  For now you were going to keep them in an art studio until the venue was available to them to get prepared.  Theo explained that he wanted to get most of the paintings together to figure out how he was going to do the layout.  

Once the paintings were inside and safe he followed you to help you with your shopping.  You only needed to stop in two shops to get things for dinner and for breakfast tomorrow. 

Mitsuki: …more coffee for Arthur, more maple syrup since you used the rest this morning

Theo: It was barely enough too

Mitsuki: I think you used quite enough

Theo chuckles while carrying the bags for you while you look over the list.

Mitsuki: That should be everything on the list.

Theo: Actually there’s something I need to get real quick. Stay right here and I’ll be back.

You take the bags from him and sit on a bench.  What did he need to get that would make him tell you to stay?  You watch people walk by as you finally relax.  Looking past all the people you can see the Seine.  You are so lost in your thoughts you barely realize you are staring at someone.  Their back is to you so it's not like they would know.  But after a few moments you realize and actually concentrate on the person.

They have a canvas on an easel and are painting what you assume is the scene in front of them.  Thinking it could be one of the artists Theo has introduced you to, you take your bags and walk over.  As you get closer you aren’t too sure if you do know them.  But then you became mesmerized by the painting.  You didn’t realize how close you were and it didn’t seem like he noticed either.

Where have you seen that style before?

The man stopped for a moment to stretch and realized someone was not far behind him and he turned his head.

???: Oh, hello!

Now that you see his face you aren’t sure if he’s much over the age of 18.  The only way you could describe his face is fairly androgynous.  The curves of his face were soft, he had long lashes, but just subtle shadows let you know for sure that he’s a guy.  His long red hair was very curly, almost like ringlet curls, but as if they were brushed out.  His eyes were the same kind of gray as storm clouds, but that smile he had gave them so much life.

You took a step back, even you didn’t realize how close you were. 

Mitsuki: Sorry! I saw you painting and got curious.

???: That’s okay. If I didn’t want people to watch I wouldn’t be painting in the open.

You tear your eyes away from his welcoming smile and look back at the painting.  You aren’t sure what story it is telling, but it's definitely not the scenery in front of you.

Mitsuki: What are you painting?

The man looks back at his canvas.  The painting is in its starting stages.  It looked like he just finished blocking everything out and was starting to add more detail.

???: It’s the story of Hyacinthus and Apollo. 

You haven't heard of that one. You keep your eyes on the blocked out canvas trying to make out the shapes.  His style definitely doesn’t fit the style most artists have in this time.  Impressionism is what is popular now in Paris.  You couldn’t tell what style he was painting in yet, but even if it was close to being done you probably still wouldn’t know what it was called.

Mitsuki: I bet it's going to look beautiful.  What are you-

Theo: There you are, hondje!  Didn’t I tell you to stay? 

Theo came rushing over holding a new bag.  Where did he go?

???: Hondje?  Well that’s a unique name

The red head laughed and started mixing a new color on his pallet.  You felt your face getting red.  You were really hoping this man didn’t know what that meant.  He didn’t sound like he was from France.

Mitsuki: My name is Mitsuki!

You pout and nearly stomp your foot like a child. 

???: Beautiful name for a beautiful woman~

You could feel your face getting warm again, but for a different reason.

Hello everyone, I am opening up donation commissions! Specifically for these donation drawings the cause I want to focus on is the ongoing genocide and humanitarian crisis in Palestine. It is more important than ever to donate to help Palestinians as Israel's attacks only get worse by the hour. FAQ

What is this event?

It's a KotLC roleplaying game carried out through asks! It's set on Halloween in the Lost Cities, and you send and answer asks in-character, pretending you're trick or treating. The askers are the trick-or-treaters, and every askbox is a different residence!

When is it?

It officially takes place on October 31st, whenever that is in your time zone. But I'm not going to stop anyone from participating before or after the official event.

Is it only canon characters?

All KotLC-related characters are welcome! They don't technically have to be from the Lost Cities, even; if a human has snuck their way in, who am I to stop them?

Additionally: It's fine to use the same character as someone else (though you should ask permission for OCs). You could even use a different character for every ask you send or reply to!

How does this work, if elves don't celebrate human holidays?

For the purposes of this event, they do. Feel free to come up with your own lore for it—I'll be pretending that elves and humans have re-established contact, and Halloween has come over to the Lost Cities because of that.

What are the rules?

Since this isn't a moderated event, there aren't "rules," per se. I would ask that people avoid dark or triggering topics, out of politeness for their fellow participants. I would also suggest, within reason, to send asks to the people who send you asks. But that isn't going to be possible for everyone, and that's totally fine!

I would also ask that people don't use the main tags. People browsing #kotlc or #keeper of the lost cities aren't looking for a bunch of roleplaying; they're looking to see posts about the series. Instead, please use the event tag, #keepblr trick or treat.

How much are people expected to participate?

There's no too little or too much! If you want to come up with an OC and give them a residence, a backstory, relationships to other people's OCs, a costume, and original treats (or tricks) to hand out, that's all game. But if you wanted to send one person an ask and call it a day, that's game too!

How do I join?

You just get started! If you want to make it clear to people that you're accepting event-related asks, I would suggest pinning a post about it (maybe with information about your character and their residence, for people stopping by)!

This is my Undertale au (Mainly Sans aus) blog, my main is @cryingbluez. Will mainly be posting my own artwork, and answer asks. I will sometimes reblog others posts too. NOT a follow4follow account. So if you only follow me looking for one back, chances are I will not.

To see if asks/requests are open look at the my bio (theres also links in both this post and bio about rules about asks/requests). You can also send me random head canons or thoughts on characters too, I'd love to hear them!

Some lore on my sona :D :

Despite the title of ‘Skelesona’ my technically not a skeleton. More so some sort of parasite controlling a puppet/doll that looks like a skeleton.

Monodrama means ‘a dramatic piece for one performer’ (Nickname "Mono"). Given me saying my skelesona he’s actually more of an oc/mascot he doesn’t fully act like me, he's more so a being I can talk through.

His eyes and the bunny features as well as the horn and tail aren’t actually his own, since he’s a sort of parasite he can consume people/monsters and can gain a feature or two that he can use whenever he wants. E.g. he ate someone who had yellow eyes, giving him yellow eye lights, he ate a rabbit monster gaining bunny features, and he ate a reptilian monster for the horns and tail. (Also it explains my blog name lol)

Does have ecto, but rarely has it active

This blog is just a place for me to shove my Undertale au/Sans au artwork, feel free to send asks or doodle requests in. I have a few undertale ocs too :D

I'm open to answering asks about myself or any au/oc stuff I do, I will try to include doodles whenever I can, so bear with me if I don't answer it quickly. If you sent a doodle request and I don't do it please don't be mad. After all it's free art, I get to choose what I want to draw.

I do utau ships, and have my own sans au that I'm working on. Main utau ship I like is CrossMare (Cross x Nightmare), I enjoy drawing Nightmare a lot so you will see a lot of artwork of him. I tend to go for either fandom versions of characters personalities or my own interpretations of them.

Salai- Chapter 3

WELCOME TO SALAI'S ROUTE. This is a FAN MADE route of my oc, Salai. This means this route contains my headcanons for the characters and in no way is suppose to represent the canon story. This is just a fun little time because I know many of you enjoy Salai. Feel free to engage, talk theories, send asks (even to @ask-salai ).

It’s been a few days since your party.  With all the leftover rice you have had nothing but fried rice.  Nothing you would complain about but the others are starting to.  You decided to go out into town to do some shopping.  As you are making your way to the next shop you happen to see the man from before.  Rather than being by the river though he set up his canvas along the shops.  It reminds you of back home when artists would set up on the side of the street to sketch people for quick money.

You see him from behind and decide to stand a few feet away to look at his canvas.  You don’t say anything to him, just watch for a few moments and move along.  And this happens the next day, and the next day, and the next.

Basically every time you come into town for the next week you see him.  You never remember seeing him before and now he is here every time you.  Each time you see him you watch him paint for a few minutes before going about your day.  This is your fourth time seeing him, but he doesn’t have his canvas with him.  Instead he is sitting on a bench with a sketchbook, looking up every so often when someone walks by.  You decide to go up to him.  After seeing him so often he has you curious.

Mitsuki: Didn’t you feel like bringing your canvas out today?

He looked up from his sketchbook, a little surprised to see someone talking to him, but he showed you a smile nonetheless.

Salai: It is going to rain later.  I didn’t want to risk my painting getting damaged.

Funny.  Leonardo said the same thing earlier when you said you were going out.  You wonder how they can tell.  He moves over on the bench, offering for you to sit down.  When you do sit you can’t help but peer at his sketch.  Theo may have rubbed off on you a bit.

Salai: I’ve noticed you in town quite often.  What is a beautiful woman like yourself running so many errands everyday.

So he’s noticed you too… Which probably means he’s noticed you watching him paint.

You quickly try to come up with an excuse.

Mitsuki: I’m working as a maid in a boarding house on the outskirts of town.

Salai: a boarding house, huh?  Any chance they have some rooms available?

That sure was a question that caught you off guard.  Even if he needed a place to stay there’s no way you could offer him to come with you.  Not only because everyone is a vampire, but simply because it isn’t your place.

Mitsuki: They don’t actually.  It’s fairly small

You couldn’t hide the ting of sadness in your voice.  Is he homeless or is he simply looking to move?

He seemed to perk up when your voice trailed off.

Salai: Don’t worry, Mitsuki.  I have a place to go home to.

He chuckled clearly not wanting you to get worried

Mitsuki: That’s good I was- you remember my name?

You met each other on the street for only a short amount of time.  Did you really leave that much of an impression on him?  He has had to have talked to other people besides you from sitting on the side of the street.

Salai: Who wouldn’t remember the name of a woman as beautiful as yourself~

Oh no.. He really is a flirt… 

Wait… Do you remember his name?  You are digging through your mind trying to remember, and it is written on your face.

Salai: You don’t remember my name do you?

He didn’t seem to take offense, which was a relief.

Salai:  It’s ok, people tend to remember the art, not the artist.  It’s Andrea.

Mitsuki:  Andrea.  I’ll be sure you remember that

He lets out a soft laugh.

Salai: No hard feelings if you don’t.

He looks back down at his sketchbook, pushing his curly hair behind it ear after it falls.  You look at the profile of his face.  You almost forgot how soft the curves of his face were.  You were just about to get up and be on your way when he spoke again.

Salai: Say Mitsuki.  How much time do you have left before you need to get back?

Mitsuki: I have some time before I need to get dinner started. Why?

Salai: Dinner?  Now I really want to move to this boarding house.

He chuckled and put his pencil in his sketchbook and closed it, turning his head to look at you.

Salai: Why don’t we get some lunch?

You agreed.  You aren’t sure what compelled you to go out with this stranger.  But something about him is captivating, and a little familiar.

He said he recently found this small restaurant during his walks through the city and wanted to go try their food.  You were expecting to go to some small cafe and grab a sandwich, but he took you to a restaurant.  You sure hope this guy isn’t expecting something from you.

Salai: What brought you to Paris?

Mitsuki: I’m just here for work.  I wanted to explore the world so I decided to work in Paris, but I’ll be leaving at the end of the month.  What about you?  You aren’t from here are you?

Salai: I’m from a small city north of Milan.  I would like to say I’m also traveling but I’m actually looking for someone.

Mitsuki: You mean like a friend?

Salai: Hmm, something like that.  I guess I’ll know when I see her.

He chuckles, giving you a smirk.  You can’t help but roll your eyes.  You thought you saw something sad in his eyes, but it must have just been the lighting.

You look down at the menu to see what you want.  This place is much fancier than you were expecting.

Salai: Order what you want, it’s on me.

After a few minutes of looking over the menu, the two of you finally order.

Mitsuki: So what really brought you to Paris?

He tilted his head.

Salai: I really am looking for someone.  It’s an old friend.  We lost contact a few years ago and last I heard he’s in Paris.

Mitsuki: So you go into town and paint hoping you will see him?

Salai: Sort of.  Since I’m here I might as well enjoy the city.  Plus I still need to make money somehow, but it isn’t as easy as I thought in Paris.

An idea came to your head.  You aren’t sure if it would work, but it is worth mentioning.

Mitsuki: That guy I was with the other day

Salai: That tall handsome brunette guy?

Mitsuki: I…uh…well yes.  His name is Theo and he’s an art dealer.  In a few weeks he’s going to have an exhibit showcasing some small artists' work.

Salai: an art dealer..?

He gets lost in his thoughts for a moment.  You can’t quite tell if he is for the idea or not.

Mitsuki:  He was very interested in the painting you were working on that day.   If you have other’s finished I’m sure he would like to-EEK!

Suddenly there was a big crack of thunder, scaring you half to death.  One moment it was fine outside and the next it was dark and down pouring.  The two of you looked out the window and are glad you didn’t choose the outside seating. The employees were rushing around to dig out candles to light them, and telling guests that they can wait out the storm for a little, but they won’t be able to serve any food.

You turn to look at Salai and he’s pouting.  He looks like such a little kid with his pout.  You couldn’t help but gawk at him.

Mitsuki: Awe, that’s so cute.

His face went back to normal after hearing your comment.  Then you realized what you had said.

Salai: So you think I’m cute~

Mitsuki: That’s not what I-

Salai: Say it again why don’t you~

You felt your cheeks getting flushed.  Now you’re really stuck with him.  There’s no way you’re walking out in that storm, but at least you aren’t alone with him.

Mitsuki: I meant the face you made was cute not your-

The rest of the words didn’t matter to him.  The moment the word ‘cute’ came out of your mouth he grinned from ear to ear and seemed to kick his feet under the table.  You couldn’t doubt it.  He was cute, in his own little way.  He opens his eyes and looks towards the window, the smile getting smaller but not disappearing.

Salai: It’s a shame they have to close the kitchen.  I was really looking forward to eating here.

You both waited out the storm for a few minutes. There happened to be a lull in the rain so you both made a break for it.  After standing under an awning for what seemed like forever, you finally happened to get a carriage to stop.  Before you fully got into the carriage Salai grabbed your hand, making you look back at him.  He held his cape above his head to try to keep most of him dry, but the rain was coming from all sides.

Mitsuki: Andrea!  You’re getting all wet!

Even in this pouring rain he still had a smile on his face.

Salai: Thank you for spending the afternoon with me, Mitsuki

That smile could make you forget it was pouring out.  His eyes still look so bright even though they are as dark as the sky.

Mitsuki: Oh.. you’re welcome

You quickly got lost in those eyes, almost forgetting to say anything

The driver tells you to hurry up and you apologize and get into the carriage

Salai: I’ll see you next time you’re in town!

He watches the carriage ride off, almost forgetting he is in the middle of a storm when lighting shoots across the sky.  He jumps and hurries back to shelter.

He hurries back to his apartment as quickly as he can. He hates storms.  He hates thunder.  His heart has been racing the whole time but he didn’t want to let it show.  She was there and that somehow made him feel okay.  But why?  This is the first time he’s really talked to her.  How could he be getting feelings for her already?

He closes the door behind him and slides the floor, soaking wet.  Another crack of thunder goes off and he jumps.  If he knew it was going to rain today why did he even go out.

Salai: I hope I get to see her again.

Tumblrversary and 300 325 Follower Celebration

Thank you to everyone who has gotten me to 325 followers. And it is three years to the day that I joined tumblr. So to begin my fourth year on tumblr, here are four options for celebration asks, including the return of Cursed Bingo.

Requests Now Open

You may choose from the following celebration requests:

Road Trip! Pick 1-3 characters from Ikemen Sengoku (all), Ikemen Prince (except Gilbert - I haven't read his route yet), or even from the OC/Katsuverse. Send me a picture of/link to a fun tourist attraction (ideally from where you live, but if you want to keep your privacy, a place that you've always wanted to visit). I'll send the characters there, and have them explore the attraction. You can mix and match across universes, so if you want to send say, Clavis and Ieyasu on a trip together, feel free.

Ikemen Sengoku Fill ins! Did anything ever happen "off stage" in Ikesen that you want to read about? For example, in Masamune's dramatic route, Yukimura rescued Masamune from the temple fire but we never see it happen. Request a scene that is canon but happens off stage.

Katsuverse Fill ins/Side Stories/Director's Cuts. Did anything happen in any of Katsuko's stories that you want to read more about (e.g. what happened when Shingen and Sasuke went to that lingerie store?), or any side OCs that you want a story about (Shohime? Sute? Toshiie? Aki?), or any "after the epilogue" stories you want (e.g., another story set in any of the longfic routes that happen 6 months or more later)? Request a story about any of the Katsuverse OCs (specify which longfic they come from).

RP Community Courtesy Rules

Hello users!!! It’s come to our attention that there have been some pretty heavy controversies occurring here in our favorite place on the internet, and we wanted to try and do our part to help ease the tensions as much as we can. Let’s preface this post with a little disclaimer before we continue:

The Database is not a regulating body in the Tumblr RP Community, so these rules are merely a suggestion. We are in no way attempting to force anyone to follow them, or make any comments about those who don’t. We just want everyone to have a good time here, and figured evening out the playing field by suggesting a few courtesy rules would be a good idea. If you disagree with any of our suggestions, feel free to disregard our post!

Let’s get started!! Here’s what we have to say:

1. Respecting others, and their ideas.

With so many different people all in one place, you’re bound to see a concept or idea that you disagree with, maybe even one that upsets you. While it’s understandable that you might feel passionate about sharing that opinion (and you are allowed to) it’s important to remember that there are people on the other side of the screen reading what you have to say.

It is never okay to send hate, threats, or other negative things to a user because you don’t like their ideas.

Instead, vent privately to your friends, and block users who are making you uncomfortable so you don’t have to see the things that are bothering you.

At the same time, if you are planning on posting content that contains sensitive topics that tend to be controversial, please ensure it is properly tagged, and understand that you are likely going to make some waves. If you think it’s going to get some push back and you’re not prepared to handle it, keep it private.

2. Tagging with Courtesy

There are LOTS of ways to tag other users in our community. On pinned posts, in tag lists for starters or reblog games, and other places too. Remember that when you tag someone, especially on a pinned post, you’re connecting your accounts in a very public way.

It is usually considered rude to tag people without asking them first. If you are personal friends with them the rules become a bit more flexible, but otherwise it’s most appropriate to ask a user if they are willing to be tagged in something before you do it. This includes tag games, which some people prefer not to be included in.

Many people have a tag list, which is a list of users they’ve already got permission to tag in their posts. We love this idea!!

To aid in making this rule easier to follow, some blogs have started adding these permissions to their bios/pinned posts to make this easier.feel free to join in with us!

3. Approaching angst carefully

Role playing difficult or sensitive topics is a great way to vent and explore, but sometimes having that directed at one of your characters directly can be a little difficult to handle.

Before starting an interaction that involves angst (such as characters fighting/venting/revealing traumatic backstories) it is polite to ask your partner if they’re comfortable.

You never know what kind of a day someone is having. This permission might change day to day, and some days it might just be a little too much. That also means this permission might change depending on what’s going on in their lives. Be patient and respectful with your Roleplay partners. Take care of them!

In addition, if you are an OC interacting with a Canon Character, and your OC had some kind of negative interaction or relationship with that canon character, understand that the person running that blog is not obligated to entertain your idea, just like you are not obligated to change your OCs backstory.

It is perfectly fine for you to disagree! It is not okay to harass someone running a canon character blog because of something they had no idea was a part of your characters backstory and had no say in creating.

4. Replies; timing and consistency

As frustrating as it may be, nobody here owes anybody else replies. No one is being paid to be here, and so no one is obligated to reply.

Replies may stop for any number of reasons, including:

- people getting busy with school/work/family

-someone becoming uncomfortable with the Roleplay

- a character’s direction changing

- someone feeling like the thread has gone on long enough

- having RP styles that are a little too different

Or even for no reason at all! If someone is not replying to you anymore, there is no need to go after them. They do not owe you, and you do not owe them! Entertain RP partners who give you the quality/speed of replies that you enjoy, and let everyone else mind their own business.

5. Replies pt. 2, the content!!

When replying to someone, the format can vary greatly from blog to blog. While there are no rules, since we are all here to have fun, here are some guidelines that make your replies easy and enjoyable to read!

Make sure that your replies are formatted so that your RP partner can tell which things are actions and which are spoken words!

Here’s an example of an unformatted reply:

Hey, did you want to share?

He smiled, holding out a bowl of candy towards you.

And here are a couple of examples of how you could more clearly format this so you can tell what’s spoken and what’s not:

“Hey, did you want to share?”

He smiled, holding out a bowl of candy towards you.

Hey, did you want to share?

He smiled, holding out a bowl of candy towards you.

“Hey, did you want to share?”

He smiled, holding out a bowl of candy towards you.

In addition to the formatting, content of replies is just as important! It is general courtesy to match the length and style of your role play partner, but it’s not necessary! You can role play any style you like.

However, role play replies should always contain TWO things: a response to the previous reply, and something for your partner to respond to!

It’s hard to respond to short or one word replies sometimes, and equally hard to respond to replies that only answer the last post and don’t continue the action. This can be really simple! Let’s do an example using Dean and Maverick:

Maverick sends a reply to Dean that reads as follows:

Maverick waved in greeting, one hand in his pocket.

“Hey Dean! It’s good to see you. Getting breakfast?”

A too-short reply to this might read like this:

“Hi Maverick!”

In this reply, Maverick’s mun is now responsible for moving the role play forward. They will have to write all the action, and carry the role play all on their own, while Dean’s mun continues responding by only reacting to the action happening in the replies.

For some people, roleplaying that way can be very draining and take the fun out of the responses.

Let’s format a reply that gives Maverick a little more to work with!

“Hi Maverick!”

Dean waved back, smiling brightly.

“Yeah I am! Do you want to come with me?”

See how in this reply, we’ve matched the length of the previous one, and given Maverick something to respond to? It doesn’t have to be a super long reply! All you have to do is give your partner something to do!

Now that you’ve made it to the bottom, we’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that these are only suggestions, and by no means are these hard rules. If you’re new to roleplaying, you may not have known that these are sort of standards of the community, and if you are having trouble getting replies and noticed that you’re doing one or more of these things, that could be the reason!
