A basket of fruits is gingerly placed in front of Adonia, filled to the brim with quite a variety: Harra Fruit, Henna Berries, and Zaytun Peaches. "... thought it might be nice to get you some local fruits. At least local to my home, anyway; other continents upon Teyvat have their own specialties. Though Harra Fruit is pretty strong for just eating on its own, it does have a nice spice-like scent to it." - @sylvctica
"This is a surprisingly thoughtful gift." Perhaps not that surprisingly, but Sylvie would be quick to notice Adonia's joking tone. Harmless teasing, much like the wind gently nipping at your skin. His solitary travel through Teyvat has earned him a handful of interesting knowledge, but he accepts gifts and goodwill gestures all the same. A polite bow as he reaches over for one of the peaches, long fingers brushing against the velvety texture of the fruit's skin.
"And one that calls for a return gift. As odd as they might look, would you be opposed to it?" Not many could grasp at the chance of eating something that simply should not exist in their reality, anyway. "I would be interested if you could treat me to more food that is comforting to you." There is always an exchange. As Sylvie gifts the fey something, Nature give it back. "I could probably task one of my children to deliver a treat to you." Not that they would linger overmuch, as Adonia plays the role of Observer and steers clear of influencing the world in any significant manner. As sharp teeth sink into soft, sweet flesh... Adonia ponders what manner of surprise - and creativity - could be put into a return gift. Something just recently made, perhaps. The offspring of a vibrant flower, something that would make any human collapse upon ingestion.
It would certainly be something that a divinity could take without too severe consequences.

Sheik was struggling.
He has been struggling since the timeline was reset and he woke up in the body of a seven year old with the added bonus of too many memories and a dead mother. Not that Impa was dead, but being sentenced to the life of a Sage was practically no different. Everyone he spoke to seemed under the impression she was dead. They couldn’t be blamed, he reasoned, they didn’t remember. No one remembered.
The things the Hero and him did. The trials and tribulations they went through. The blood he spilled. None of it happened and his mind seemed to have a hard time wrapping around that. Sheik was too old in a body too young, and a vindictive part of his brain wanted to ask; was this how Link felt? Too young in a body too big? He never had a chance to ask that. Never had a chance to sit and just play music with him, for the sake of playing it, not to teach him the spell to go to a dangerous place.
Sheik—probably grew too fast this time. He tormented the guards because he was stressed and upset, he acted out, he trained his body hard to take his stress out on something. By the time he was already the age he’d started his journey at, he finally wrapped his head around what was going on and calmed down. At least, until he paid a visit to the Korok’s forest.
Learning Link went to Termina was a blow he wasn’t prepared for. He doesn’t know what he expected to find in the forest, his heart had just been cold and empty. What he learned there though, seemed to make it freeze over. Honestly, he didn’t expect the man to return and he wouldn’t blame him for not. Hyrule was a place that probably held too many memories, too cruel or thoughts, that much was something he could agree on. But it hurts that he left, in a way he can’t explain. It almost feels like he was left behind.
As an adult, an actual one, the King finally prompted him to Zelda’s retainer. Her guard. It wasn’t a position he wanted, nor was it one he got a say in. This was what the Sheikah were born for, defending and protecting the Royal family. Doing their bidding. Their dirty work. Sheik spends most of his days stuck beside Zelda hidden away somewhere. Watching her, making sure no one tries to hurt her.
He hates it. He’s bored. Sheik wasn’t designed for court life. It shows. He was built for a war that ended but his body doesn’t seem to realize that.
He was wandering around the Castle today, Zelda had sent him on an errand to Lan Lan Ranch that only took him a few hours to complete. He was spending the rest of his time just trying to clear his head. He was half tempted to find the library and read a book. Anything to distract himself. One of the guards he passed made a snide comment, muttered under his breath to his coworker. He doesn’t seem to realize Sheik has above average hearing and he catches the jab. “Sheik the Sheikah.” His name was not funny, there’s depth and meaning to it.
He’ll happily educate them.
As he pulls one of his blades at his thigh, just to startle them he won’t stab them yet, he feels someone else’s hand grab at his wrist. Hard. Covered in a glove. Thick leather. He seems to know it before he even has to look. Who it is. A hand he often watched wrapped around the hilt of a sword.
His heart races. Catches in his throat. There’s the slightest bit of a tremble and he turns.
Blood red eyes meet a pair of very familiar blue.
“Hero.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bits and pieces of memory brings him to hyrule castle. Memories that come in a blur and not all at once. One thing that is very vivid in his mind is a Sheikah. Someone that feels familiar and someone he wishes to seek out, if only for answers.
Getting into the castle unseen is easy. He finds a weak spot, sneaks past guards, and into a hidden passageway he had found. He doesn't want them asking questions, he's not fond of talking to folks if he doesn't have to, and it's just better to sneak in.
Now that he's in, though, and eyes land on that familiar sight, his first instinct had been to approach slowly. However, that flies out the window when he notices the other has a blade. Whatever the guard was saying to him doesn't matter.
It is pure instinct that drives him forward to quickly wrap his fingers around that wrist and stop him. When the other turns to him, Link swears he can feel his breath hitch in his throat.
Hero.
As expected, the guy knows him. It's not a surprise, not if his blurry memories are anything to go by. It's more of a relief. Blue eyes are determined, meant to display that he's not going to let him go until he's sure Sheik isn't going to go stabbing people.
"Drop the blade. Let it go. Whatever he said, it's not worth it."

🚶 - to go on a long walk together
She'd still be willing to? In a way, he finds it strange, to see that there's time they're making for each other beyond the aftermath of what was an outright disaster. Unreasonable anger had flared towards her as a means to mare her, to soothe that ever bigger pool of regret that ran frigid in his own veins.
Somehow they fought past it.
Again and again, never letting the threads fray into something that even a breath could snap apart.
Acheron always felt like a distant person by nature, as if you're accepting companionship from a hollow essence in itself. Caelus found time and time again that he simply doesn't mind. In a grand continuity like theirs? Nothing is absolutely another brand of Something all the same. So let's allow this great, sprawling and fragile dream to be their stomping ground.
Open aired spaces, for the time, stuffy corridors were simply becoming old hat. (Those whispers being a taunting force that ached to cater to his volatile side.)
A dreamed up beach was pretty nice.
Tumblr media
Each crunch of their boots underneath the actualized sand joined in the replicated music of nature. From the waves sliding in a continuous ebb and flow, to the brisk winds that nearly looped if someone were to really strain their ears to it. For the Trailblazer, it was enough, his eyes found themselves often peering towards the Galaxy Ranger in this instance of simply.. connecting.
For they have a history they've etched in a share of experiences within and outside of Penacony. They hold a language that finds itself openly expressed but even beyond the sight of the Memokeeper herself. That nearly empty gaze crowned by flowing tresses of violet held something. It could simply be a product of his nature to reach forth and demand of what.
On another end? Caelus could simply want to get to know this wayward master of the blade, she looked like a force content to keep moving rather than settling down for any prolonged time. A good and potent intake of the salted sea air was sniffed in, the emotion that composed it, the experiences in this malleable land of wish creation could formulate. Seeing manifestations of these very concepts as odd end treasures continued to make him aware.
"Say." His voice finally breaks the silence between them once again.
"What exactly does red mean to you?" Always the brazen soul, he decides to get directly to the point.

if you post an image in discord itll round the corners, but once you hit a certain smallness it rounds into a circle. so basically if you make an image that is 32x32 and you post it in discord itll go from this
Tumblr media
to this.
Tumblr media
so you basically can just draw a little face in mspaint or something and paste it into discord and itll look like a little emoji. you can potentially mess around with this a lot, its proportional to your image going smaller and it doesnt have to be a square either.

with my nakba posts, here's some website recommendations if you want to learn on the history of specific depopulated palestinian areas:
palestine remembered is probably the most famous and comprehensive website with full documentations of former locations and depopulated villages. it also lists information on palestinian refugee camps, guestbooks, and the ability to submit pictures/info if you know of any. information on each village varies.
zochrot is an organization dedicated to teaching both palestinians and israelis about the 1948 nakba (which is not covered well if at all in israeli schools, as you can probably imagine), which includes documenting information on villages and even an app. information on each village varies.
the interactive encyclopedia for the palestinian question's places page has some detailed histories and a map as well, but doesn't go into the detail of the last two sites, and doesn't have pictures or sources.
some villages also have their own websites, and many of them are also in english (for example, the one i linked for kafr bir'im). honestly just look up (village name) + website and if it's there you'll find it.
wikipedia also has surprisingly comprehensive coverage of the villages, the articles include a little more of the "war" background than the other websites do. (and of course since it's wikipedia you can find further sources on there.)
all that remains: the palestinian villages occupied and depopulated by israel in 1948 is a famous book by palestinian historian walid khalidi which gives a detailed account of what became of 400 different depopulated palestinian villages. it was released in 1992, so it's not current, but many of the things he wrote still hold. a lot of the above links use this book as a source.

Penelope!!!! (If she was in Hades 2)
Tumblr media
The location I would put her in doesn’t exist in the game yet, but I tried to do a bit of a background.
Tumblr media
Personally I would understand if Penelope doesn’t actually show up in Hades 2, there’s so much going on in the game already, buuuut if she was there….
I think there’s a lot of fun metaphor in unraveling the day’s weavings as a form of turning back the clock, hence “Witch of Unwinding”. Penelope isn’t referred to as a witch in any myths that I know of, but for various reasons I think it’s a fun change.

hello my dear king enthusiast
share some king hcs? or just any hcs in general
Okay I have a few, though I'm probably gonna make that a separate post! But here's one hc that I like the most:
So King is awkward at first when he gets roped into getting along with Purple's friends. (Because Purple wanted him to and who could say no to that face.)
But, once King gets more comfortable hanging around the CG, He starts calling each and every one of them their own unique nicknames. And it's one of those Dad nicks where he calls you "Squirt" or "Pipsqueak".
Purple - "Purple Nurple", "Hummingbird", "Purple Plum", "Small fry", "Little Bird", "Stinker", Etc.
TSC - "Hoop", "Donut Kid", "Picasso"
Red - "Furball", "Tiger", "Fists", "Karate-Kid"
Yellow - "Glasses", "Sparks", "Sherlock"
Blue - "Smurf", "Blue's Clues", "Treehugger"
Green - "Hotshot", "Fisher", "Grasshopper"
The Group as a whole: "Skittle Squad", "Power rangers", "Highschool Boy Band"
Everytime this happens and he calls for one of them, it's like a guessing game every time a new nickname is introduced.
And then they make fun of whoever got it.
His list is ever growing.

Regarding Strike as companion... What is his opinion about Illithid powers? How hard is it to persuade him to use them?
Tumblr media
He disapproves if you even suggest it, then, it is a DC20 for persuasion, DC15 if you're already romancing him. If you try deception, it's a DC 20 and you're rolling with disadvantage due to him being proficient in medicine. In either case, if you succeed or fail, he will still disapprove - he doesn't care if anyone else takes the worm, he personally just loathes the idea of messing with his already broken brain even more.
Also, his camp clothes.

I don't really get the people who think reading the comics is such a radical idea. Don't they want to learn more about them? aren't they curious what makes them tick? what insane adventures they went on? what fears they have? what makes them laugh and smile? I'm from europe so I haven't seen any of the DC shows I see mentioned every once in a while (which means I really don't get the whole Clark hates clones thing... but that's a different thing) and it's only been this year that I have enough disposable income to splurge on comics, aka I haven't read that many just yet.
But I do think the ones I have read enhance the stories I'm trying to tell, which to me is a good reason to read them ;p but besides that, they are fun! they are just really fun to read
I’m glad you’re having fun reading comics man! It’s a shame that folks don’t read them as much but you know, I can understand it. I both asked some folks in the Haunting Heroes discord server and have some of my own points to make about this.
First of all I do still believe that you should consume some form of DC media if you’re in the fandom. It’s fun and there are comics, books, movies, tv shows, and every other form of medium known to man that you can take a peek at! Idk I’m just a bit DC enjoyer and think that looking at canon media to expand on your knowledge and help create ideas you wouldn’t have had if you hadn’t looked at said piece of media.
Now onto why reading comic books is hard:
Some folks simply prefer the fandom and not the official DC content. Whether they prefer fanon, find fics more accessible, or like the people in the fandom, they’d rather just stick to the fandom.
They simply don’t know where to start. Getting into comics can be INCREDIBLY overwhelming ( DC has done their best to fix this and has messed up more than once. My go to is to reccomend folks just start reading New 52 comic runs as it’s really good for new readers to jump into the comics with any hero that might intrigue them). Big comic events span multiple comic story runs and not a cohesive line of comics, some omnibuses for stories are out of print, the 80+ years of comics are daunting as hell, and everyone has their own opinion on the best versions of a character/where to start/what to read.
Money. Comics are an expensive hobby to have. They may cost $1-$5 each on average but that price adds up over time. I have a comic collection of roughly 1,300 comics. I’d estimate its value very roughly around the $7,800 range. It’s probably far more than that though and I know damn well reselling it I won’t get half of that value back. I’m very fortunate to be a college student with disposable income and for this hobby to be the only thing I ever really spend money on besides rent and food. Some people either can’t afford them or don’t want to buy a comic they don’t know if it’s good or not.
Varying quality. Comics are a very mixed bag thing where they can be incredibly written or some of the worst pieces of media you’ve ever read. With this being the case, it can be really hard to find a comic character or writer you like if that’s your first experience. It takes a while to learn about different writers and find out who your favorite writers are. What’s harder is some writers can make absolute masterpieces with one character and the next comic run they cover it can be absolute garbage. Not only that, everyone has opinions on what is a good comic run or not. It’s impossible to find a repeatedly stated and easily accessible list on the good comics to read.
Pretentious “Canon is God” fans. Experiencing “um actually this isn’t good because this isn’t how the canon character would act” responses from people can really fucking suck and diminish their want to experience anything that’s official DC writing. I’ve seen more than one person go into this primarily fanon focused space and insult people saying their writing isn’t canonical and therefore it isn’t valid. It’s Uber Pretentious, demeaning, and actively harms peoples interests in checking out canon content.
Timelines. I already kind of said it but DC’s timelines are a mess. hell, even New 52 has some fucked up timelines making all of Batman’s previous timelines canon but happen only within a seven year period. That’s WAY too short for how much history is packed in there. The amount of crisises that happen and fully change the lore and timelines of characters is bonkers, the comic runs that bounce between different comic runs are really confusing, and the fact that there isn’t a True Starting Point for reading makes it so hard to grasp anything that’s happening. It’s one of comics biggest issues and no matter what DC has done they have yet to find a convenient solution.
Sensitive Content. Comics from DC are littered with either intentional, badly aged, or ignorantly written plot points and writing choices that will turn away readers. DC has its fair share of sexism, misogyny, abelism, racism, abuse, sexual harassment, sexual assaults, or topics casually addressed that can be very triggering for some people. Especially since a large amount of that sort of content is handled incredibly poorly. One particular writer, Alan Moore, writes sexual assault scenes with absolutely zero tact or the delicateness that a topic such as that should be held in. It’s almost solely used as a “let’s make the bad guy do the most fucked up thing they could do” throwaway plot point. Comics of the sort dissuade a lot of readers because of both the heavy content within comics and how that content can be incredibly poorly handled. This is partially why some folks would prefer to read fics. Comics are a unknown mixed grab bag when it comes to content like this and things exactly like this is known to make PTSD symptoms worse while fics have tags and can warn you before you consume the content within.
Time. A lot of folks have busy lives and just don’t have the time to read them.
The ways they intake media. Some folks might have a better time watching a long commentary video that explains a comic or their brain can’t process the comic medium very well. I can read and retain comic knowledge but even I am unique in this aspect, my memory is frightening levels of bad and is proven by science to be absolute shit. I have to reread comics at least once a month to retain the basic bare bones plot. Just because one person can easily digest what’s going on in a comic doesn’t mean everyone can.
Comics are such a big part of my life. I love them so much and they’ve gotten me through so many things. My own experience with comics isn’t the same for others and my thoughts on reading comics differs with other people. A lot of people have equally as many reasons for why they don’t read comics as you and I have for reading them.
