i am rebloging again because i just saw this headline on the front page of yahoo news and i know some people still feel like this is a 'small' protest. this is very big and very national. make sure you have everything you need for tomorrow!!!

there's also other economic blackouts being planned for the following weeks/months

USA people! Buy NOTHING Feb 28 2025. Not anything. 24 hours. No spending. Buy the day before or after but nothing. NOTHING. February 28 2025. Not gas. Not milk. Not something on a gaming app. Not a penny spent. (Only option in a crisis is local small mom and pop. Nothing. Else.) Promise me. Reminder for Americans that Feb 28th is a 24-hour nationwide economic blackout! This blackout is to protest major corporations rolling back DEI initiatives. Do not spend money on the 28th from midnight to midnight. If you have to spend money then buy from small local businesses. I’ve heard about this boycott through several sources so I’m hoping it’ll be big (but it’ll be bigger if you tell people about it)!

America needs MAX PARTICIPATION for the economic blackout this Friday. This thing is snowballing fast because so many reasons are popping up for why people are doing it (including some "what it's really about" lists). A short list:

-inflation/the egg thing

-protesting the trend of corporations getting bigger and richer and more powerful while normal people are finding it harder and harder to keep up with the cost of living

-protesting corporations who heard Trump say diversity is out and went "Oh thank God" and immediately dropped (sorry, "didn't renew") their DEI policies, their support for the LGBTQ+ community, all of it

-protesting consumerism/huge corporations in general

-Trump giving a giant chainsaw of power to Musk and they are literally having fun with it

-the giant, reckless cuts Trump is making in general

-Jon Schwarz started a grassroots movement for government accountability and corporate reform and is going to make a million bucks this week selling Tshirts of his Blackout Tour

-moderate Republicans, Trump leavers, and even Trump supporters are starting to realize that Trump needs reining in from every angle possible because wow.

IT DOESN'T MATTER, at least not on Friday. The point is that the energy this has gathered is part of a wider pool of protests, boycotts, spending freezes, etc. that are gathering steam fast. And that's a good thing, because this Friday, Feb 28th, has become a productive, nonviolent flashpoint. There is so much anger and fear building right now in America and this is a good, healthy way for it to emerge. But if participation is too spotty, it will lead to absolutely nothing.

So please, less gatekeeping and more welcoming. Honestly, for the sake of max participation, if even one of these reasons matter to you, or matters to people that you care about, please participate.

Tl;dr: What is Friday really about? It's about momentum. Please, participate.

I can’t stop thinking about this financial black out guys!

So many people are afraid of activism because of how it’s painted in media. People are afraid that to resist is to risk your everything. And guys that’s a super valid fear, I understand why people are afraid to sacrifice thier comfort and perceived safety it’s literally an instinct.

And some people are just uninterested or have now lasting power in these ideals but you know what MOST PEOPLE CAN DO? Not spend one day. Infact people already have days like that, they just aren’t all doing it all at once.

Will one day hurt thier pockets? No not really people will buy the day before and buy the day after. However they will have one very scary data set. That shows them, look we worked together and we could do it again.

I hope you spread the information around. To everyone in your family even the ones you think won’t try it. I texted my entire phone.

Feb 28th. Don’t spend (except food/medical/emergency and if possible do those in cash). No online shopping/gas/big stores/amazon nothing!!
