Congrast Henry Ambrecht, the artist that is Ösla. annnd check the review of the EP in the next post. The video here is a collaboration between producer Bradley Turner and music maker Ösla as they create a live music video of Henry playing.... to an empty room.

Interview with Allan Whitten, a conversation about music and Birmingham, AL.

Que Pasa?

Hey all, so before the show last week at The End ( Friday the 27th) I had the great pleasure of talking with Allan Whitten, a stellar and talented musician and songwriter from Birmingham Alabama.

We were sitting in the back lounge of Café Coco near the #TheEnd on Elliston Place in downtown Nashville, and as my Island Girl wrap was en route to our table I somewhat importu struck up a conversation with Allan. Talking about Allan’s music and the music landscape and buzz currently going on in Birmingham, AL. After making sure he was comfortable and good to talk we discussed his music and some other cool and different things, read on, the interview continues here.

We started the chat by talking about Birmingham’s music scene,

Fat Catz: What are some venues you enjoy playing at in Birmingham?

Allan listed 4 different venues that are helping support the local music in Birmingham.

Firehouse - which Allan said is an old, newly renovated fire hall that is now functioning as a music venue. Upon searching for “Firehouse Birmingham Music Venue” in Google I found a pretty cool website (link below), definitely worth checking out for any DIY enthusiasts, musicians, or promoters looking to secure a gig in Birmingham.

After talking about venues in Birmingham we moved on to Allan’s goals with recording for 2017, Allan has some great goals ahead of him for this year.

Allan stated that he is excited for DIY recording, and that he sees potential in the continuing effort of home recording and DIY production.

Allan thinks there is an advantage to collaboratively working with other musicians, and he is planning on including other musicians, instrumentalists, and producers in his recording and creative process for his upcoming full length that he is expecting to be out by the end of this year, 2017.
