Moments in “Fast X” that I felt was bizarre even for this franchise (THIS IS ALL SPOILERS):

1) Pete Davidson randomly shows up just to be Pete Davidson.

2) Jason Momoa’s performance felt like they just told him to act like Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter. Or just a Jojo villain in general.

3) Letty and Cipher get sent to Antarctica, where Gisele just shows up at the end in a submarine despite clearly dying in the 6th one. That’s LITERALLY how the movie ended.

4) They got Alan Ritchson (the guy from Reacher) to play a buff CIA agent who hates barbecues and families. Also, maybe this is just me, but I felt like he was also Jason Momoa’s love interest? I just got the vibes.

5) The weird shot of the camera following Vin Diesel’s muscles which led into the car’s engines.

6) There was a 15-minute sequence where they chased a nuclear bomb that was rolling around the streets of Rome.

7) John Cena using three tequila bottles to power his mini plane.

8) Tyrese taped millions of dollars on his shirt and was just carrying that around the whole movie.

9) Rita Moreno was randomly there as Vin Diesel’s grandma.

10, EDIT) I forgot one other moment. Because F9 retconned Tokyo Drift, there was a sequence where the Agents of SHIELD (I know they’re the “Agency”, but it was basically Marvel’s SHIELD) are reviewing footage of their previous missions. One mission featured clips from Tokyo Drift.

LAVENDER NAIL POLISH: Dante Reyes x fem!reader

Summary: Sitting at the table with Dante as he paints her nails, makes her wonder why he's doing that in the first place.

Notes: English isn't my first language. I apologize for any mistake I may have made while I wrote this short story.

For my friend who watched these movies with me during a movie night - I love you girl <3

She knew for a fact that there were many things in this world she should've considered as unnerving - like racing itself with all the possible consequences. Yet the scariest thing on Earth for her in that very moment was one of the most common things possible: nail polish.

She pulled off many dangerous stunts, she almost got caught by the police more times than she could count; yet that little tube full of colorful liquid was far more frightening than that.

She didn't choose the color, he did. He was the one holding her hand in place as he painted her nails to a light shade of purple too. Perhaps in another situation she would've found it a nice color and a nice gesture - but she found it scary instead.

He never touched her or made her do stuff before. She was never even tied up or anything. It was new - completely new and that's why it scared her so much.

"Am I going somewhere?" she asked as she watched him work on her nails - she was quite jealous when she noticed that he did a better job than she usually did.

The question was meant as 'Am I going somewhere with you?'. She never saw where he went, she only stayed at the hotel rooms he rented for the occasion. But he talked about it - he liked to talk a lot. It was more like ranting - Dom Toretto this, Dom Toretto that, he did this so I did that. That's why she ended up with him in the first place, because Dom Toretto did that.

The first day she had to spend with Dante Reyes was the first day she realized that being a part of Dom's family isn't that much fun all the time.

"We are going to a race, darling." he let go of her hand with a girly movement after he blew on her freshly painted fingernails, and for a second she thought that he's mocking her. "Now give me your other hand."

She did as her eyes lit up at the word - race. She hadn't had the change to take part in one since forever - or watch one at the very least. A race, she'll finally go to a race.

"Where?" Dante actually chuckled at the excitement in her voice - and she never thought he could chuckle without being psychotic or sarcastic.

"We're going straight to Rio de Janeiro." he took a hold of her other hand as he answered and soon her nail on her pinky finger was purple as well. "After your nails are done."

Her excitement stopped for a moment - Rio de Janeiro. Her, Dante and Rio de Janeiro. That sounded like a not so good idea, especially because she had a feeling that Dom will be there too. That's why she'll be there. So Dante can show her off - so he can show that he has her, a part of Dom's family.

She tried to ignore that thought, she should talk about something else.

"Why purple?"

"Lavender." he corrected her with an 'are you this dumb' look on his face.

"So why lavender?" she asked as she purposefully changed her tone on the word lavender.

"Because I have to match my car..." he explained. "And you have to match me."

She tilted her head a bit - trying to hide the sudden pain in her heart at what she just heard. Only then did she notice that his nails were the same color as hers.

"Must be a nice car." she said instead of questioning it any further. "And a nice choice in color. It's pretty."

"Yes, that's what I'm talking about!" Dante spoke up with a shout as if she'd be the first one to think so. "You see, sometimes we have to let go of all that masculinity. And on the other hand, it'll look good on you too."

She didn't know if she should be flattered or not.

"You know." she began saying as Dante finished with the nail polish and let go of her hand completely. "In a different world we'd actually be pretty good friends."

"We'll be in this one too. Eventually." he put the nail polish aside and crossed his legs as they sat at the table together, looking at the other without saying a word.

Is he mocking her, she had to ask herself again.

If she didn't know about his vendetta against Dom, she'd maybe consider him less psychotic, but still kind of crazy. Maybe then he'd be more funny too. Dante sitting there with a bathrobe on, with his hair up in two small buns was actually funny and oddly enough, friendly. He still seemed strange, but he seemed less like a guy who murders people for fun.

"Continue on with the princess treatment and we might be." she joked. "Will we wear matching clothes too?"

"Of course we will!"

"Of course we will." she repeated. "Because you're a show off."

"I never said I wasn't."

"Dom will be there, won't he?" she asked with a slight head tilt. "That's why I'm going with you. So you can show me off."

"Clever girl..." Dante praised as he patted the top of her hand with his. "But you should go get ready, because this will be a race you won't want to miss." he then stood up and left her alone in the kitchen - but later on he shouted: "I'll go wash my hair until you get ready!"

And she laughed. Not chuckled quietly like she used to - but laughed.

Perhaps if Dante would be a bit less psychotic, she could let herself like him a lot more. Perheps she'd actually like him.

Then, perhaps, she'd actually have the bravery to admit to herself that she already does.

Can you just do me a favour and block me if you don't like the Fast & Furious franchise, because it really pisses me off when I see someone shit talking it. I like the movies. I don't care that 9 was ridiculous. I like all of them. And I'll like Fast X as well. I don't care that you think they should have stopped at 7. They make me happy.

It is a chilly night in L.A. The chilly win made me regret not bringing a jacket. J told me to bring one or to wear a longer shirt, but I said I would be okay without one, and now I’m paying the price.

I turned my attention to everyone as they laughed at something Letty said as we waited for the “race” to begin. All because of Roma’s big mouth, he said something to Dom and now they are racing to see who is better.

“Hey, sweets.” I turned to Jakob who was standing behind me. “I thought i told you it was going to be cold.” He said smirking at me. “Yeah well I’m not cold.” I smirked too and then turned around, as soon as I did I felt a jacket on me, and Jakob’s arms around me.

“Thanks, my love. But won’t you be cold now?” I asked kissing his jaw as he moved to lay his head on my shoulder. “Always, and no.” He said kissing my cheek as we watched as Dom won like always.

The more I think about “Fast X” and Jason Momoa’s performance, the more I’m questioning the intent behind Dante Reyes’ character. While Jason was definitely the highlight of the movie, I’m a little torn in how he was presented. It’s not that the character was clearly meant to be queer-coded, it’s more that this is a queer-coded character in a “Fast and Furious” movie.

I wouldn’t really be having these thoughts if Jason’s character was the villain in something like “Thor: Love and Thunder”. But the F&F movies have always been rooted in this culture of masculinity. We can joke about “family” all we want, but we also need to acknowledge that maybe the reason why family keeps getting mentioned is because of the series’ insistence on pushing more “traditional” values.

Family units, men protecting their clans/families, strong men leading the way, emphasis on brotherhood, men sorting their issues out in fair fights (ex: Dom wasting his shotgun shell in favor of a fair duel with Deckard Shaw), emphasis on fatherhood, and so on. Just to be clear, this isn’t a criticism of those values, I’m just saying that this is what the franchise was built on.

So, again, there’s nothing wrong with Jason Momoa’s villain being this flamboyant, queer-coded person…on paper. In any other movie, he’d be fine. But in this particular franchise, it makes you question the intentions of the team behind the movie, especially since Dante Reyes was written to be the “anti-Dom” and the “antichrist of [Dom’s] Christ” (that’s exactly how the director described the character). So, the opposite of the franchise’s messiah-like protagonist is this crazy mass murderer who, for some reason, was queer-coded.

Did this character absolutely need to be portrayed in this way? Because it does feel that Dante Reyes was only portrayed in this way to contrast Dominic Toretto’s masculine, family man image, which feels a little wrong since that’s creating a connection with how Dante is as a person and his villainous actions.

The jumbled thoughts I had while watching Fast & Furious X, as someone who didn't watch any Fast and Furious movies before:

SPOILERS

- Car chase and machine guns within the 1st 10 minutes. Perfect. Exactly what I came here for.

(Did they film the initial rio scenes in portugal??? The extra's Brazilian accent was almost as weird as Joaquim de Almeida's lol)

-"The big strong man is having feelings" my friend when Vin diesel looked constipated while talking to Michelle Rodriguez

-If I didn't already know I was bisexual, Charlize Theron and Jason Mamoa's confrontation would make sure I became aware of it

-Jason momoa licked the knife and my friend and everyone else groaned. I proclaimed myself in love with him. I don't think I'm ever gonna live this down

-The truck flipped, and they willingly crashed into it. How are none of them dead?????

-I love Jason momoa's character. I really do.

-How tf is Vin diesel still alive???????

-How is anyone still alive!!!???

-I hope the cop dies (Aimes). Kill him brie

-Me watching Mia kick the asses of armed men "I love women"

-As a portuguese person, I'm very proud of the fact that the best moments of this movie take place in portugal.

-This is also the 1st time I've ever worried about the consequences of what happens to the country and the people that live there during an action movie.

They blew up the dam and now the entirety of Northern portugal is without power.......... fuck these guys.

-Aimes still working with Dante after 10 years and never trying to double cross him for more power (as is implied) sounds very gay to me and my friend. I ship it now. Love me some villainous gays!!

-My friend watching them leave the river: "good for them cause it's not everyone that leaves the Douro alive"

All in all:

Silliest thing I've ever seen in my life. I can see why people like it and will definitely be watching the next ones and binge watching the ones before!!

Back from seeing Fast X (Fast & Furious 10) and yooooo...

Crazy to think that this franchise has gone on for over 20 years and I’ve been there since day 1 and we riding till the wheels fall off. You have those smart asses that like rag on the series for being absurd & over the top and to that I say

I don’t watch the movies for realism, I watch ‘em to be entertained and entertained I was.

Anyway, Fast X was balls to wall, batshit insane, over the top action and I loved every minute of it. Jason Momoa was a damn fool in this one lol. He got my vote for villain of the year. It’s basically Endgame for F&F so it’s all hands on deck. We’re seeing some of everyone from the entire series show up for an epic finale. It ended on cliffhanger (cause it’s gonna be a two-parter, possibly a 3), it’s looking mighty bleak for Dom and the fam but I’m looking forward to what comes next. There’s an end credit scene so stick around..
