Secrets of the Machine (Bendysplaining)
(Full disclosure: both of the computers I have access to WILL NOT TRIGGER THE LIGHTNING CUTSCENE therefore making B:SOTM unplayable for me! Watched a couple walkthroughs to get the gist of things. I found ONE easter egg on my own lol.)
Secrets of the Machine is so out of place to me, seeming almost unpolished. I'll give it a fair shake and go over the pros and cons, but if you want a short Bendy game to play, PLEASE play Boris and the Dark Survival, not this.
Pros:
This very important bird that makes me well up inside with a positive emotion.
Ragtime Guffie. Cute character that I feel has a charm similar to the original Bendy cast. I wouldn't have been surprised to see this guy walking around in BATIM back in the day.
This screenshot I can use for memes:
This ONE scene/"jumpscare" was executed well:
The Goofy ahh can dispenser laugh
My personal favorite, this random ass arrow outside that you can follow into the darkness for about a minute until you're spat back out by the entrance arch (useless):
And last but not least, the inclusion of Gaskette and an insanely niche nod to Nightmare Run?
FIrst off, Gaskette looks killer (pun intended):
And secondly, there are at least a couple hands around the map that open and close when you click them in a very similar fashion to a hand that could be found on the menu of Nightmare Run. I was actually excited about this! (Why they didn't they just go full ham with the Nightmare Run characters for this game?)
Cons:
The first glaring issue I have is *checks watch* the FOUR Bendy advertisements thrown into the game??? What???
I'm not mad about hyping people up, but it is............LAZY?? What was the point of this? These ALL could've been Tweets!!
In fact, Lone Wolf's Announcement nearly WAS a Tweet!!
I would feel differently if the presentation was better, but you literally throw a can at some flippable....plates(?) around a screen at random and get still images. I understand that this game is meant to be small like BATDS, but BATDS was more polished, more fun, and didn't throw four adverts in as gameplay/easter eggs.
This is also gives me a Bad Feeling because if you're willing to make your smaller content into a glorified advertisement, what are you going to do with your mainline games? How are you going to treat your content? Are you going to let things cook or serve it to us raw?
ALSO...
Riley.
Riley's story itself is fine. Not amazing, not awful. Riley's parents die in a car accident when she's six. She starts drawing disturbing content, and the school counselor catches wind of this and brings it up to her guardian. Riley goes to work for JDS at the same age as Buddy (17), and is subsequently fired for drawing more disturbing material pertaining to the accident.
While it sounds cliché, the way it was presented in-game was fine. There are obviously things that could be improved, but the point here isn't the story itself.
Let me ask the audience of this post a question.
Where the hell is Lacie Benton?
Or, more broadly, why aren't M+M fleshing out characters that have been with us since *checks watch* 2017?
I'm struggling not to start doing the Macarena, because adding new characters and slowly abandoning the old ones works in direct contrast with "caring about the lore", AKA what this franchise was built on, and it's something M+M like to bring up. When you remove that backbone, everything else falls apart. When you neglect the old characters, you're neglecting the heart of the franchise.
Riley having her story isolated to one game seems to be a blessing in disguise, I'll admit. However, this is ALL just BATIM: Red Flags. Disappointed, but not surprised. Scared for the future of this franchise, but trying to stay optimistic.

Gokinjo Monogatari got an English release. I am just - feeling like I got my wish from 1998.
That's right, I'm alive but not very active on the meta for the time being. 2023 sped up for the second half; work got crazy busy for Q4. I worked up to Dec 18th through several weekends so yeah, needed some recharge time.
I don't know how I missed this, but thanks to watching Coleen's Manga Recs, I discovered that the one shoujo manga title that I had been wanting an English release for has finally arrived. Gokinjo Monogatari by Ai Yazawa!
I discovered Gokinjo Monogatari in '98. One of the local comic stores had the first three tankobons and I bought them based on the cover artwork alone.
It wasn't until undergrad I was able to meet a few more people and figure out more than just the name and artist. I tried to find the translation of the manga online, but was unsuccessful. I have to remind people that before scanlations, you had to buy a tankobon and hope you found the text based translation which would have the text according to page number and what panel location. I read a fair bit of Kenshin that way, but sadly, this series was not that popular with readers in the States. I've been moving my entire adult life hauling my three precious volumes of the manga hoping that someday I would first, collect volume 4-7 to complete the picture and that I'd have my matching English version. Granted, I haven't done a good job of looking for volumes 4-7 when I've been in Japan . . . or using the internet either.
As if to spite me, the follow up manga, Paradise Kiss, did get a translation in 2002 from Tokyo Pop which exists in the same universe as Gokinjo Monogatari. Note that a previous manga's characters show up at the Flea Market in Monogatari as well and Yazawa likes to keep a lot of her series tied together. Eventually, the scanlation of the series appeared and I read it around 2011. I'd only found an episode or two of the anime during the golden age of file sharing, but didn't follow through on it. I wanted to read the manga before watching the anime. In 2017, I visited the Manga Museum in Kyoto, got to see a cool display about Ribon magazine and of course they had Gokinjo Monogatari merch! I bought the file folder set and stickers! I bought the Gokinjo Monogatari UT shirt from Uniqlo featuring Ribon series. Yet each time I found more stuff, the universe got the last laugh. Japan released the collectors set with four volumes, there was a French translation, German etc and never one for English. So, you have to realize how I absolutely lost my mind when the thing I'd figured would never happen, happened! Not only was it a thing, I'd even missed the December 2023 release date -at least I didn't have to wait for a pre-order to get volume 1.
I'm happy to see that this version included some of the original color pages!
It has a few more at the end with a photo wall of Mikako's outfits. Everything about the style of this manga, I absolutely love. The fashion goes so hard even now. I get nostalgic with all of the mid-90s Japanese street fashion which has a mix of 60s mod and 70s flare. I think the series also does a good job of capturing that awkward time in your teenage life when you are trying to figure out how to act with people you are interested in. But failing to sort things out. Unlike a lot of other high school manga series, this one stands out with the much more "normal" appearance of the students. I remember picking it up and thinking that the characters looked like they could be my peers; though there is no way Mikako's outfits would pass my high school's own liberal dress code where dyed hair and piercings were permitted. Her bare midriff would get her in trouble . . . Funny how now when I look at it, this is a very unusual high school set up for a Japanese reader likely coming from a more regimented school environment with a uniform and strict dress code. I never thought about it at the time. More that I was plotting my own hair dying plans for when I moved out of the house for undergrad just like the characters had - while still in high school. I did read Parakiss back when it came out from 2002-2005; however, it never really resonated with me the same way a series that I couldn't even find a decent translation for. I started to watch Nana but couldn't get into it at all. Maybe it was my mindset or the fact that I wasn't the mood for young twenty-somethings figuring their shit out.
Yet, here I am in the winter of 2024, and I have volume 1 of the collectors edition format of Gokinjo Monogatari and I'm still loving every little bit of the story as I read it. Perhaps, Parakiss and Nana were more edgier/grittier than something like this which is why they never quite clicked with me. I wanted my fashionable shoujo drama but not over the top. I'm not sure what I'll write about it. It isn't a well known series both due to the fact it is from the 90s and that it is shoujo but perhaps I can reflect on what I was drawn to it all those years ago and what I think about it now.

Tagged by my fav moots who I'm not even sure are real cause they're too good to be true @mebiselfandi @thesupermegahell
rules: share the first lines of your ten most recent fanfics and tag ten people. if you have written less than ten, don't be shy and share anyways.
Okay so... while I have written more than 10 fanfics in my lifetime, very few of them are Neymessi, because I've only recently started writing about them. So I'll share lines from those, along with the link and name and pairing, but if I find any other excerpts from fanfics I've written for different fandoms, and they make sense without context, I'll just dump them here without any additional information. Fair warning though, a few of my fanfics are poems, a format people usually don't use for fanfics, so bear with me.
1. you put me on and said I was your favourite — Neymessi.
2010. A friendly against Brazil's biggest football rival, Argentina. Yet, that was the farthest thing from Neymar's mind, as it was currently occupied in its full capacity by the player, or as he'd describe, the magician of his dreams, Lionel Messi.
The man was a miracle, and, as always, Neymar was mesmerised. Messi's pale cheeks flushed red from the sun, his long hair swinging with every swift turn of his, his legs changing directions at lightning speed, the ball glued to his feet as if in reverence. Neymar couldn't believe a mortal had it in them to be so beautiful. Football was already art to him, but Messi's existence, perhaps, was his final bit of proof.
2. Wait for me, will you? — Neymessi.
Rolling river, running stream
I'm a helpless rock on top of a hill
Your current draws me swirling in
Yet I push against its way.
What will other people say?
3. Exile — Neymessi.
Neymar had never put much stock in the inner workings of the colour white. He could vaguely recall from sixth standard, learning something about white light falling on a prism and exploding in rainbow hues. Neither was he the one for academics, nor was his family the one for rainbows, so all he had known, all he had ever seen with those iridescent eyes of his, was life in black and white. The patterns on his childhood football, the one true love of his life, were drawn in the same twin colours. Then why was he, in that one wretched evening, finding the same opposing tints holding his throat so brutally to a knife?
The 30th of June, 2017.
4. 3 times Anto sees the flower blossom (+1 time she waters the plant :)) — Neymessi.
Antonela is standing, unsuspecting, on the sidelines of the Barcelona training ground, calmly enjoying the spring breeze, when a football hits her smack on the face.
Her vision turns black and her legs give away in a wobbly fashion for the slightest moment, before she locks eyes with her offender while still face down on the ground.
"Leo, you bobo, watch where you're hitting!"
Leo jogs up to her and gives her a hand, but Anto slaps hard on his palm, and gets up on her own.
"Not my fault if you're standing in the way, I'm just trying to play football."
5. It was dark.
The inherent calm of the misty night air was turned restless by the buzzing sound of crickets.
Festive lights had been switched off, so had the lamps in every room of the household. Hardly anyone, however, had been able to fall asleep. Only one tiny bulb shone downstairs, in the guest room, where two police officers clad in uniform sat upright in a chair and on the bed, cautiously sipping water from soiled steel glasses. <name redacted> presently stood with a tray in her hand, waiting for the men to return her their tumblers.
"Thank you", they said unanimously while placing their glasses on the tray.
"Thank you my foot", she mumbled under her breath on her way out of the room.
6. Fuck. I was hearing voices in my head again. The lines between truth and fallacies never felt more blurred. And here I was, caught between them both, trying to pick up the last pieces of my crumbling self esteem behind the closed doors of an empty washroom.
I looked at myself in the mirror. Face full of badly done make-up, smeared with tears; one eyeliner wing looking way different than the other.
7. Long before I knew you
I had gotten used to life in an armour.
Living in a tower, all bricks and concrete
No paint, no lawns, no light, no wind.
All alone.
"Alone's good," I had convinced myself,
Betrayal not likely in a one man army...
But then, I met you.
8. Breaths were coming in short gasps as our faces were inches apart. His black eyes were gleaming blue under some tinted light.
What were words? My head wondered.
All I could see were his soft lips, all I could feel was the prick of his light stubble under my fingertips.
"<name redacted>... I think I love you."
A teardrop or two brimmed on his waterline. A few more creases formed on his forehead.
Just as my right hand dropped from his face, I felt a loss of grip on my waist.
Sooner than I could process, his hold on my left hand tightened and his other hand grabbed me by my shirt.
He stood on his tip toes and planted his lips on mine.
I THINK THAT'S ALL I'LL DUMP HERE! Not tagging anyone because I'm late to this challenge as it is, so all my dearies must have already made this post if they wanted to. But if you didn't yet and you're seeing this, you're tagged! Thanks for reading, hope you had fun. I know I certainly did🧚♀️

The rise of Mumi Haiati in the world of fashion public relations showcases a unique blend of artistic vision and business acumen. Known for his eclectic style—pairing utility shirts and bucket hats with high-end accessories like a Serpenti ring or Cartier watch—Haiati's recent venture, the opening of Reference Studios' Paris outpost, marks an ambitious step in expanding his brand’s influence in the fashion capital of the world. Founded in Berlin in 2017, Reference Studios swiftly established itself as a bridge between fashion brands, artistic communities, and the vibrant creative landscape characteristic of the city. Offering a holistic approach to cultural engagements and modern luxury, the agency has attracted a diverse clientele. From globally recognized names such as Rimowa and Gucci to emerging labels like Our Legacy and Stefano Pilati's Random Identities, the agency has carved out a niche that emphasizes collaboration and innovation. As Haiati expands Reference Studios to Paris, he aims to replicate the success he achieved in Berlin and Milan. The new location is set in the upscale 7th arrondissement, where he is transforming a former post office into a showroom and creating a stylish apartment for hosting events. This strategic decision reflects not only Haiati's personal taste but also a keen understanding of Paris as a thriving hub for both fashion and culture. His vision is to facilitate the transition of brands represented in Berlin and Milan into more global contracts, tapping into the client base available in Paris. “It feels like the right time to articulate and elevate what Reference is—free, liberal, cultural, and subcultural—here in Paris,” Haiati explained, acknowledging the city’s evolving atmosphere that now blends its traditional conservatism with an upcoming vibrant energy. This transformation in Paris’ cultural landscape includes the launch of new museums and annual art fairs, reinforcing the city’s identity as a global arts capital. Haiati's blueprint is also about inspiring the creative community in Paris. He acknowledges that engaging new audiences and nurturing talent forms the core of his approach. With seasoned professionals like Tim Neugebauer joining him for the Paris launch, Haiati emphasizes collaboration as pivotal for overcoming traditional barriers between disciplines—be it fashion, music, or visual arts. In line with this ethos, Haiati's initiatives have already begun to show promising collaborations. Earlier this year, Reference Studios facilitated a sold-out three-night residency at Kering-owner François Pinault’s Bourse de Commerce art museum featuring DJ Arca, indicating the agency's commitment to cultivating rich interdisciplinary events. Plans are underway for a six-week residency at Dover Street Market Paris’ perfume antenna, where consumers can create personalized luxury scents, merging fragrance with contemporary fashion trends. The burgeoning presence of boutique PR firms in Paris also signals a shift in the landscape for fashion communications. Despite the ongoing consolidation in the sector, as exemplified by major players like Karla Otto's The Independents, boutique firms like Reference Studios cater to a growing appetite for hyper-personalized service. Clients increasingly seek agencies that offer tailored strategies, rejecting the one-size-fits-all approach favored by larger conglomerates. "People love an ultra-personal approach," Haiati states, underscoring his philosophy. The insights drawn from Haiati's journey—growing up in Germany as the son of Iranian parents and navigating the fashion scene—also revealed a narrative of resilience and adaptability. His initial break in fashion came when he proactively approached Kuki de Salvertes' PR agency in Paris, a bold move that set the tone for his career. In recognizing the rising cultural significance of Berlin, he positioned himself within that context as brands looked to tap into the city's avant-garde reputation, thus playing a pivotal role in establishing his agency's reputation.
As Reference Studios steps into the Parisian spotlight, the potential for influence in the global arena grows. With strategic initiatives designed to connect creativity, honor cultural subtleties, and evolve traditional PR models, Haiati is not merely expanding his business but is also advocating for a more inclusive and imaginative representation of what fashion can be. The Paris outpost serves not only as a workspace but as a launchpad for innovative concepts that challenge conventions and celebrate the unpredictable beauty of cross-disciplinary collaboration. This vision represents the future of fashion PR—where traditional boundaries blur and creative freedom reigns, underpinning the dynamic evolution of how brands interact with culture and consumers.

Little Gold Men Podcast: Inside Hollywood
Two generations ago, print magazines existed as a primary form of communication, cultural exchange, and social commentary. The advent of the digital age has issued a terminal notice to print magazines with only limited methods for recovery.
Vanity Fair is an American monthly magazine of popular culture, fashion, and current affairs published by Condé Nast in the US. It was, at one time, at the center of the social and cultural discussion.
The first version of Vanity Fair was published from 1913 to 1936. The imprint was revived in 1983 after Condé Nast took over the magazine company. Vanity Fair currently includes five international editions of the magazine -- United Kingdom (since 1991), Italy (since 2003), Spain (since 2008), France (since 2013), and Mexico (since 2015). As of 2018, the Editor-in-Chief is Radhika Jones.
Like more nimble companies that own print magazines, Vanity Fair (VF) has adapted. It now has an impressive roster of podcasts -- from Inside The Hive to Still Watching. What I admire about VF's podcast roster is that the shows coalesce around similar themes, so the audience's expectations are met. Remember the CW TV network before it got acquired by Nexstar and essentially disemboweled in 2022? The CW was the home of young adult entertainment from Riverdale to The Flash to Supergirl. Viewers knew to expect, and the network actively recruited these viewers.
VF's podcast are at the intersection of entertainment, culture, and supporting industries. The podcasts are not tell-alls about Reality TV and melodramatic trashiness.
Little Gold Men is a Vanity Fair podcast that details the inside story of Hollywood, from awards shows and red-carpet premieres to the hard work and whisper campaigns that get people there. Weekly episodes feature conversations about the best of television and film, with special guest appearances from stars, creators, and critics. Little Gold Men also dives deep into Oscar history, and offers insight into all the other awards that make up Hollywood’s continual dash toward glitz and glory. For more on Little Gold Men, click on the link. Little Gold Men has been podcasting for nine years and is approaching 600 episodes. David Canfield and a roster of VF correspondents capably host the podcast.
David Canfield joined Entertainment Weekly in 2017 as an editorial assistant. He was promoted to associate editor the following year, writing features and reviews for the brand's Books section. He was also the co-host of the EW radio show Shelf Life. David then became a movies' editor at Entertainment Weekly, with special interest in Oscars coverage. Additionally, he hosted The Awardist podcast for EW. He left EW in 2021. He previously worked as an intern at both IndieWire and Slate magazine before becoming a news reporter at Vulture.
Recent episodes of note include an aughts Saturday Night Live reunion as Maya Rudolph and Seth Meyers join the podcast. First, Rudolph dug into the new season of her Apple TV+ comedy Loot and the career that’s led to this long-awaited starring vehicle. Then Meyers reflected on the 10th anniversary of his talk series Late Night, and how he’s kept things fresh in a turbulent media ecosystem. As a bonus, the pair shares their favorite memories of each other from their time on SNL.
Another excellent episode was the May 7th interview with Emmy winner Jean Smart by VF senior Hollywood correspondent Julie Miller about the third season of Hacks. The interview ranged from the show's increased physical demands on the actress to the deepening of her relationship with co-star Hannah Einbinder. Then, staff writer Savannah Walsh caught up with Nicole Beharie, the scene-stealing powerhouse who brought The Morning Show to new heights.
Little Gold Men is an ideal podcast for those who are fascinated by the "behind the scenes" view of Hollywood, which includes TV and film.

WEEK 7: Social Media Influencers and The Slow Fashion
Welcome To Lam’s Blog
I Hate shopping but love thrifting online through social platform (cause I’m just a young broke uni student smift smift*) My journey into slow fashion started from two main influences. First, thanks to my dad, who enjoys reading articles from The Ecologist. About three years ago, when I was still a young teen splurging on shopping, he shared an article that changed my mindset. It was by Kate Fletcher, introducing the concept of "slow fashion". She compared the slow fashion movement, which was founded by Carlo Petrini in Italy in 1986. The slow fashion movement emphasizes the importance of sustainability, ethical production, and a shift from quantity to quality in the fashion industry. (Kate 2017). This realization hit me like the refreshing ‘crack’ sound of opening an aluminum, Coke. Around the same time, one of my favorite YouTubers, Erica Ha, influenced me with her thrifting vlogs. Watching her inspired me to join the ‘thrift gang’, and now I rarely buy new brand clothes, opting instead for second-hand finds from online apps and thrift shops. Influencers like Erica Ha have the power to shape opinions and trends through their platforms, and many are now advocating for slow fashion. They educate their followers about its benefits, encouraging thoughtful purchasing decisions that support fair wages, better working conditions, and reduced environmental impact.
youtube
The slow fashion philosophy promotes buying fewer but higher quality items that last longer. This approach supports more sustainable and ethical fashion choices. Movements like "Fashion Revolution Day" (LDN 2022) and from the readings that are provided by Norealyna (2024) highlight the growing awareness and demand for such choices, driven by a desire for personal growth, well-being, and ethical commitments. This shift is evident in the increasing number of influencers promoting these ideals on social media.
I'm grateful to see that many people in this generation are embracing thrifting, redesigning their clothes with various materials, and turning them into masterpieces and selling secondhand clothes online. Social media influencers can influence the world by sharing and educating the right information and changing people’s thinking and lifestyles by sustainable practices and ethical consumption. I hope you guys can take a moment to explore some influencers who champion slow fashion and see how you can incorporate their tips into your own life. Let's make a difference by savoring the joy that comes after the refreshing ‘crack’ of opening Coke. Comment below to share your opinions and let me know who your favorite influencers are and how they’ve influenced you. *heart *

A pro-Palestinian protester holds a sign during a demonstration calling for a ceasefire in Gaza on October 21, 2023 in Washington, DC. (photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)
Artists, writers, and other creators across the world are facing backlash after voicing their support for Palestine as Israel’s air strikes continue to pound the Gaza Strip. Canceled talks, de-installed artworks, and severed collector relationships are among the forms of retaliation experienced by artists and cultural workers who have been vocally expressing their solidarity with the Palestinian people and calling for an immediate ceasefire.
Israeli forces have killed more than 6,500 Palestinians after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, killing 1,400 Israelis and taking more than 200 hostages. Israel has since declared a total siege on Gaza, displacing over half of the region’s 2.3 million residents and leaving the population without clean water and electricity.
Amid the ongoing violence, an outpouring of fundraisers and open letters have provided artists with ways to publicly voice their support for the besieged region. Since then, Hyperallergic has spoken with multiple artists, all of whom asked to remain anonymous, who said they had received threatening phone calls and emails from their collectors and galleries after publicly showing support for Palestine. Some of them had signed an open letter from the cultural community calling for a ceasefire in Gaza that was immediately repudiated in a subsequent petition signed by several Israeli artists, leading multiple signatories to request that their names be removed from the list.
In one instance, a young artist explained that collectors cut ties with her after one of them noticed that she had “liked” an Instagram post about one of the aforementioned open letters, even though “liking” an Instagram post does not necessarily imply the user’s endorsement. (In a similar fashion, organizers of the German art exhibition Documenta publicly condemned members of the curatorial group ruangrupa earlier this month for reportedly “liking” videos from pro-Palestine rallies in Berlin.)
“As a young female artist, this feels like yet another thing to add to the list of reasons to mistrust galleries,” said one of the artists Hyperallergic spoke with, who cited fear of further retaliation in their request to remain anonymous. “It broke my heart to feel so threatened and disrespected by people who had supported me for years. It’s really scary to watch in real-time as wealthy collectors and gallerists try to take away our freedom of speech by punitively threatening our livelihood.”
Some artists who signed their names on petitions and letters faced near-immediate repercussions. New York City’s 92nd Street Y (92NY), a Jewish cultural organization in Upper Manhattan, canceled a talk by author Viet Thanh Nguyen last week after the author signed an October 18 open letter demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. Nguyen, who penned the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Sympathizer (2015), was one of 750 writers who added their names to the document. 92NY notified Nguyen a few hours before the event, according to NPR, noting in a statement to the news outlet that the organization wanted to “take some time to determine how best to use our platform.” After an undisclosed number of staff members resigned, 92NY put the entire reading series on pause.
The literary organization Litprom, which presents an award at the Frankfurt Book Fair, canceled its ceremony for this year’s winner, Palestinian author Adania Shibli. The honor was for her book Minor Detail (2017), which recounts the true story of the 1949 rape and murder of a young Bedouin woman in Palestine.
In a statement about its decision, Frankfurt Book Fair cited “the war started by Hamas, under which millions of people in Israel and Palestine are suffering.” Shibli publicly clarified that she had not been consulted in the cancellation decision, and over 1,000 authors and publishers signed an open letter condemning Litprom’s choice.
Back in the United States, organizers of upstate New York’s Witness Palestine Film Festival at the Little Theater announced last week that the arts and culture event originally scheduled for late October would be postponed “due to safety concerns for festival organizers, Little patrons and staff.” Similarly, University of Vermont officials recently canceled a lecture featuring Palestinian poet and Nation reporter Mohammed El-Kurd due to alleged security risks. The abrupt axing of the event, initially scheduled for tomorrow, sparked student protests on the school’s campus yesterday, according to local news reports.
And closer to home, in New York City, two artists said earlier this week that East Harlem’s El Museo del Barrio walked back its decision to publicly display their Día de los Muertos altar featuring a Palestinian flag to avoid making visitors feel “uncomfortable.”
“It’s extremely disturbing to see art world leaders use their wealth and influence to bully artists and stifle dissent,” another artist who said they were impacted told Hyperallergic. “I want to work with collectors who are willing to learn from artists — not control them.”

In 2015, the tension between Kourtney and Kim escalated when Kourtney refused to let Kim use her likeness in her mobile game, “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.” While other family members happily obliged, Kourtney initially resisted, leading to a heated exchange. Eventually, she signed off, but this incident marked one of the early clashes between the sisters.
2017: The Epic Holiday Decorations Fight
The following year, Kim accused Kourtney of stealing her holiday decorations. In a Christmas special episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Kim revealed that they got into “the most epic fight” because Kourtney copied her festive lights. Kim’s warning to anyone attempting to copy her holiday style was clear: "I will come for them!".
2018: The Least Exciting to Look At
During season 15 of the show, another explosive argument erupted. While planning their family Christmas card photoshoot, Kim lashed out at Kourtney for not accommodating her schedule. She called Kourtney “annoying” and even declared that she was “the least exciting to look at.” The tension escalated further as Khloe tried to mediate over the phone, but insults continued to fly.
2019: Style Clashes
In season 17, Kim accused Kourtney of copying her fashion sense. Kourtney defended herself, asserting that they had “completely different styles.” Their disagreement over fashion choices added fuel to their ongoing feud.
The Dolce & Gabbana Collaboration
Most recently, their feud centered around Kim’s collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana. Kourtney felt disrespected because Kim worked with the fashion house that had designed her wedding just six months after her big day. Their phone call fight on season four of “The Kardashians” reached new heights as Kourtney called Kim a “witch,” and Kim retaliated with low blows.
A Familiar Cycle
Despite their intense clashes, it’s worth noting that Kim and Kourtney often make up after their fights. However, this time around, things may be different. As we watch their relationship unfold on-screen, we can’t help but wonder if this feud will finally find resolution or continue its rollercoaster ride.
-------
It’s no secret that the Kardashian sisters have had their fair share of disagreements over the years. But the latest feud between Kim and Kourtney has taken things to a whole new level. From verbal jabs to physical altercations, these two sisters have been at each other’s throats for quite some time now.
But what’s really at the heart of this feud? Is it jealousy? Competition? Or something deeper? Maybe they’re both just too wild and independent to be tamed by anyone, even each other.
Whatever the reason for their feud, one thing is clear: these sisters need to find a way to work through their issues and come out stronger on the other side. As Carrie also said, “The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself.” So maybe it’s time for Kim and Kourtney to focus on themselves for a while and figure out what they really want out of life.
In conclusion, while it’s always sad to see family members fighting, sometimes it’s necessary in order to grow and evolve as individuals. Let’s hope that Kim and Kourtney can find a way to put their differences aside and move forward in a positive direction.
What do you think? I'd love to hear below.

Jake Paul's Net Worth, Boxing Career Record And How He Made His Millions!
Jake Paul's Net Worth, Boxing Career Record, And How He Made His Millions! In his first bout against a real boxer, Jake Paul will meet Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia. On Sunday, February 26, they'll square off in front of 15,000 fans at the Diriyah Arena. At approximately 9.30 p.m. UK time is when the main event will begin. We've been waiting for this for over two years, and the anticipation is palpable. As a result of two postponements, we will finally get to watch these two massive figures square off against one another in the ring, where they can put all the trash talk aside and allow their skills to do the talking. Tommy is under a lot of pressure because if he loses to Paul, who is seen as unprofessional and undesirable by many boxing fans, the community will never forgive him. If Tommy loses, his heavyweight champion brother Tyson has threatened to retire him personally. Paul, at age 26, doesn't stand to lose as much. He is now unbeaten, entered boxing cold turkey, made more money than most fighters, and is widely recognized as the sport's most influential figure. However, he will be feeling the effects of all that discussion. What is Jake Paul's net worth? With a net worth of $40 million, Jake Paul is an American internet celebrity who is also an actor, boxer, and comedian. Between boxing events, merchandising, YouTube video views, and endorsements, Jake Paul earns at least $20 million and as much as $50 million per year (before taxes), making him one of the highest-paid social media stars in the world. You may also like Lisa Arrindell Anderson's Net Worth. Is Lisa Arrindell Anderson Still Married? Three professional boxing contests were the primary source of Jake's $45 million in earnings in 2021; the remaining $5 million came from endorsements and social media. The music video for his 2017 single "It's Everyday Bro" went viral on YouTube, and that's when he first attracted widespread attention from the media. He's Logan Paul's younger brother, the internet sensation who makes videos for the video-sharing website. Recently, Jake has been pursuing a career as a professional boxer. Millions of Pay Per View customers have watched him win matches against several opponents.According to Celebrity Net Worth. How did he make his money and build his fame? Jake Paul is the younger sibling of Logan Paul, one of the most well-known people in the world today thanks to his viral YouTube videos. Prime Energy, created by British YouTubers KSI and Logan, is a drink that has a giant grasp on today's youth, selling out virtually immediately in every market.
Ask KSI's brother Deji Olatunji how having a renowned sibling helped his career. But to be fair, Jake has earned his immense notoriety by developing a memorable public presence. But before we get there, it's important to understand his background. Jake Paul Wife Jake Paul is not married and is presently dating Julia Rose. Many people think he is still married to Tana Maongeau, but they were actually just pretending to be married. The split between Jake and Tana Maongeau and the subsequent courtship of Jake's ex-girlfriend led to the beginning of his relationship with Jake's ex-girlfriend. Fashion model Julia Rose has amassed more than a million Instagram fans. They don't hide the fact that they're dating and regularly post photos of each other online. Jake Paul's boxing career record Paul (5-0) has competed against NBA players, YouTubers, and previous MMA champions in the past. Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will be his toughest opponent to date. Silva, who had a record of 34 wins and 11 losses in mixed martial arts with one no-contest, retired from the sport in 2020 to concentrate on boxing. The Spider has boxed twice before, in 1998 and 2005, with a perfect record. In 2021 he went back to Mexico and defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. In September of 2021, Silva gave up a first-round KO against former MMA fighter Tito Ortiz. This past May, he engaged in unofficial combat against Bruno Machado. There is no denying Paul's meteoric rise to fame. The Sporting News has ranked his last five fights from easiest to hardest and provided a detailed analysis of each. 1. Nate Robinson (November 2020) Paul faced the three-time NBA Slam Dunk Champion Nate Robinson after beating AnEsonGib in his first professional combat (we'll get to him). The bout took place on the same card as the return of Mike Tyson, who faced off against Roy Jones Jr. As a bonus to the Triller Fight Club event, it worked out beautifully. https://youtu.be/8ZG03tMRtqU By the end of the first round, Paul clinched with Robinson, which led to Robinson's knockout. Paul knocked Robinson down twice more in the second. After taking another blow, Robinson went down on his face. After Paul's bout was stopped by the referee, he was declared the winner. Even if his opponent was a non-factor, "The Trouble Child" appeared to have progressed as a fighter. 2. AnEsonGib (January 2020) Paul's first opponent, YouTube sensation AnEsonGib, has two amateur fights under his belt. Paul was significantly larger than AnEsonGib, and the latter was unable to withstand the impact of Paul's power shots. After Paul knocked AnEsonGib down three times, the referee stopped the fight and awarded Paul the technical knockout victory. https://youtu.be/HmBcY72T71Y In Miami, the 25-year-old boxer competed on a real boxing night headlined by Demetrius Andrade vs. Luke Keeler. An appetizer, if you will, for the main course. Your first fight will always be the one that sticks out in your mind, but that doesn't mean it was the best. 3. Long-Running Shows I Urge Everyone to Watch
Long-standing shows are known for their continuation of the story, it gives depth to all the nuances of characters and story that we can discover in the course of the story. With these shows having over 70 episodes, it is pretty sure to leave anyone with an impression.
The Mentalist (2008-2015)
This award-winning show was one of the classic shows with psychology being used in crime, and the protagonist here is a mentalist. A mentalist can be briefly described as a person with good knowledge of psychology, with other things like cold reading and general knowledge of people's behaviour and society. This show is family-friendly with minimal gore, a fair amount of violence and a running plot for seven seasons. The episodes moved in a fashion where they had active cases to solve in the CBI, but there was also a bigger case that was the big picture throughout the season. This show has a good pace and very rarely tires the audience.
This show is a personal favourite considering it was the first-ever series I ever watched nearly six years ago, it was engaging back then and is exactly that captivating even now. The main character was a con man initially but has now joined as a consultant for the CBI department investigating murders. The characters are all original and fairly do not fit into any stereotype. That makes it interesting because Patrick Jane, the protagonist, is constantly poking at them with his observations of them that they might not always be candid about. It actually gives a new outlook and perspective on people and the human mind through the course of this show.
Merlin (2008-2012)
A curious perspective to the classic story of King Artur and the wizard Merlin, this series is extremely old-school and a genuine change of pace from the mainstream shows. The show is set in Old England with the characters just stepping into the world as youths and trying to find their place in the world. Being a relatively old show, the graphics of the fantasy elements are a little obvious, but otherwise, it is a good series for a family watch. The story moves slowly, each episode being moralistic in nature, till the plot moves into the details for much more of the structure of the myth.
It was slow at the start, which made me think it would be a tedious watch. But then, the show connected in a way that cannot be explained in simple sentences. The slow lives that are shown on screen, with a lack of technology and simple dreams of living, get alluring. While I didn't like the ending of the series it makes sense considering everything in the plotline. But then again, there is always a possibility of an alternative story. Merlin is light-hearted but also has the immense pressure of being the prophecy. Then there is Arthur, brought up with everything at his beck and call, despite having no real companion. What really made them a great pair in this show was that Arthur always stood by Merlin, and Merlin was the only one to call Arthur's bullshit.
Teen wolf (2011-2017)
A show that was heavily called out for the stereotypes and cliches it represented in the media, it knocked off all my close-minded expectations when I watched it. While the show is about teenagers who gain supernatural powers in high school, it also involves the stories of other characters who are more than just stereotypes and give an insight into a different scenario. The series is slow in the beginning and moves much faster after the first two seasons. It is mostly fantasy and romance drama, including bits of horror in the later seasons. It is an incisive and heartful show. Something that stood out in the series was the friendships, the decisions they had to make, and everything that felt homely old-school.
The series quickly became my favourite after I got attached to the characters. And I find everyone who watched the show does get attached to the characters. Another favourite thing about the show was how stupid they all were. Yes, stupid and petty. But it was what made it more authentic and believable because as much credit the adults might give teenagers, they are still kids learning the way of the ways of the world and their roles in it all. And this show spoke very well for most communities included in the show.
Suits (2011-2019)
Having heard so much of this show from everyone, I know the hype was well-maintained. The first episode blew me away and everything thrown into the show was like an experience in itself. A genius hustling boy and an experienced lawyer looking for growth in his business. Being one of the first shows on law and business that I watched, I still believe that it is one of the best of its kind. The show has incredible women in power and nuances of business that can be easily recognized and appreciated. The characters are all unique, and each case that the duo learn to handle feels like a lesson that anyone can learn.
Unconventionally, I watched the Korean adaptation of the show prior to watching the original show. While all the original fans judged me for it, I liked the order I watched it in. The adaptation has the actor blowing us away from the beginning, and the show also has a different arch for the romance. Another significant thing that the series stars is the Duchess of Sussex, Megan Markle. It is an insightful perspective into the world of lawyers, corporate and hustlers. And as such, the show might always stand as a standard for its calibre.
Game of Thrones (2011-2019)
Highly spoken, the game of thrones is based on the book series of the same name. The books are written by George RR Martin and are collectively called the Song of Ice and Fire. The show had raged across the internet and popular culture for over a decade, it is completely outlandish with its authenticity and the story it brought. While the setting is similar to the world of the Inheritance Cycle written by Cristopher Paolini, this show is much more raw and mature than the latter. Fans and critics have plenty to speak of in this series, but one thing that can be mentioned is the individuality and details that were given in each scene for every character in the tale.
This show was a rebellious genre for me, having been so restricted for its nudity and age restrictions. While the show does have ample nudity and sex scenes with more than enough violence and gore, I believe it was all pieces of the puzzle which would have seemed vacant if it were all left out. The nudity in this show invoked my way of seeing human bodies aesthetically rather than something so precarious and objectified. While there are all sorts of things included in the show, from incestuous relationships to betrayals and found families, this show won over the hearts of over eight million people for a reason. A reason that can only be found by experiencing this show of a lifetime.
The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017)
This show was a sensation when screened and is still running on numerous OTT platforms. It has vampires, witches, werewolves and more. Now, while it is common for this genre to be attractive to teenagers and horror enthusiasts, it can also be watched by anyone interested in drama, romance and fantasy. The show has elements that are more than just one genre by having spanned over that many years it also had an evolution of the characters. What initially started as a horror and fantasy teenage series went on to become a fantasy show that showed incredible stories that were more.
I was sceptical while starting the show, with the books that I read being extremely taxing and disappointing. But the show was many folds better than the book ever was. It does have questionable morals in the beginning, but nearly all the characters have turned out better than the written archetype of them. The show also evolved considering the trend each year and the maturity expected of the characters as they grew up. There are innumerable opinions on the show everywhere, but to be honest it is a good watch. Numerous audios are trending that are from this show, and truly the dialogues were exceptional. There are times it gets tedious with the drama and then there are times the show exceeds expectations to leave an effect on us.
The Originals (2013-2018)
This show is a continuation of the Vampire Diaries series and starts off with the story of a complicated family. Initially antagonists in the prequel, the Mikaelson family is over centuries old and vampires that have an enthralling history. This show unpacks more of their history and the impact they have on their community, along with the head member of the family being a unique type of a vampire. The protagonist is cunning and morally questionable throughout, which is what keeps the story gripping and outlandish. There are similar family tropes in The Vampire Diaries but what makes this different is that The Originals is set in New Orleans and is NOT a high school drama.
This show was wildly different to anything that I had ever watched before, and the protagonist was an art connoisseur. He spoke of the city and his favour for painting which really put a perspective on how I perceived both. They have shown parts of history that were affected by vampires and the supernatural which makes so much sense. Though the books written by E.J Smith do have the characters, the story does not have the same trajectory. Another thing that was emphasized repeatedly is how every family is complicated but sticks through thick and thin.
How to get away with murder (2014-2020)
Having finished this show just now, I can say it was as intense as any show I have ever come across. There was plenty of violence, gore, and sex, considering it is a crime show involving law students who work for a criminal lawyer. While the show seemed very flaky on the morality of their actions throughout, in hindsight, the show makes much more sense and connects all the possible dots without any plotholes. The show ended with a lot of emotions and a full of the journey of the characters, just as a friend mentioned.
The show was a lot considering it throws us headfirst into a murder in the first scene. It had a narration style that was addictive and mind-boggling at the same time. The characters started off flimsy with bare personalities that all seemed stereotypical. But as the plot enhanced, every individual grew into people that could not have been predicted. The violence and the gore are a little outrageous, but in the end, it all fits like an intricate puzzle. The show focuses on the lives of numerous women, with the protagonist being an ambitious older woman who also has a disastrous personal life. It also showed perspectives on people of colour and queer sexualities. It inherently normalised homosexual relationships and an outlook of how closeted people function.

I was the previous anon who originally sent the ask about the bodyguards but yeah re: prev. anon, i said i was watching old KK Klossy videos.. like you know 2017 - the NYC marathon video. I never said KK was spotted with Taylor's bodyguards recently? And knowing what we know Karlie's personality is, i don't think she would even want one on her regular days 😂 She's a true NYC gal through and through. 'I'm sorry, but Karlie is a fading model.' I'm not sure you meant this as an anti or as someone who's been following the fashion industry (not the fashion - commercial common people would know), but Karlie has consistently been in the Top 10 highest paid models since what, 2013/2014 up til 2020? She wasn't in the 2021 list because you know, pregnancy? She had to stop for a bit. But she's slowly coming back to the game now, i'm sure she'll be back in no time. If being one of the Top 10 highest paid models in the world means a fading model (falling from the top for a year because a model wanted to become a mother).. then okay? 🤷♀️
In all fairness I brought up in recent times. So maybe the anon was focused solely on my response and agrees with you.
But yes to everything you said. KK is a supermodel. She will always be top talent. Her mark on the fashion industry is indelible. And she’s still slaying it.

The struggle of a closeted gay: A review on Beach Rats
Welcome back filmgoers! I am back with another independent film review. This time I watched Beach Rats. Beach Rats is a film that first premiered at the Sundance film festival in 2017. It was written and directed by Eliza Hittman and she ended up winning the directing award for her film. The film was made on a budget of $200k and shot on 16mm film.
The film follows a young man, Frankie (Harris Dickinson), as he figures out who he is. We learn right at the beginning of the film that he is a closeted gay and he has hidden that information from his family and friends. Next we see him and his friends at a fair where this girl, Simone (Madeline Weinstein), asks him, “What’s your idea of romance?” This really sets up the whole movie because we see the main guy figuring out who he is and what he likes. He constantly says “I don't know what I like” which connects to the storyline because we are trying to figure out what kind of character Frankie is along with him.
Throughout the film we see Frankie struggle with his sexuality by dating a girl to make his mom happy and telling his friends he “pretends to be gay” just so he can get good weed. He also loses his father adding on to more of the things he is trying to cope with. Frankie never reveals to his friends that he is actually gay, and they force him to get a guy alone so they can beat him up and take his weed. I should note that the film opens with a firework display at the fairgrounds, with Frankie and his friends, then ends in a similar fashion, but this time Frankie is by himself.
David Sims, a reviewer on The Atlantic has noted that Beach Rats, “The director gets so much from Dickinson’s expressive face, drawing out every nervous tremble and flicker of fear in his eyes.” There are a lot of close ups in this film and it really helps convey what Frankie’s emotions are and how he's dealing with them.
I didn’t necessarily love this film but I did enjoy watching it and liked it overall. I definitely liked how it focused on Frankie and his character rather than just the plot. I also really enjoyed this film because it was realistic and highlights some things people might actually be struggling with. In the film there were also a lot of moments where there was no talking and the audience was left hearing the sounds of nature in the background. They were moments for you to think about the character and what had happened.
In August of 2017, Beach Rats was released into theaters by the distributor Neon. Unfortunately it gained a little under $500k at box office. It is now available to stream on Hulu.
Happy Filmgoing!

random question i was curious about: what inspired you to start writing fanfiction?
fun question! this got a bit long, so i put my answer under the cut ^.^
i started writing fanfiction in general when i was 14. it was a rough year for me as i was "homeschooled" but really, i just sat at home all day. fanfiction got me writing, which meant my brain got some exercise/use and it also took up a big chunk of my day (which again, was great because i was just sitting in my room for hours on end). in addition, actually posting my work led me to find friends and other authors in the fandom, and that's probably what got me to continue writing - it gave me connections and interaction with other human beings during a time when i was very isolated. i've also always liked to write, and so crossing over from my own short stories or creative essays to fanfiction was very natural. fanfiction was not the beginning of my proclivity to writing, it was a product of it, and so the transition was very smooth and made sense.
for loki specifically, i've always loved his character. as i've said, i was cast as him in a play when i was 10, so when Avengers came out (when i was 11), i was super sympathetic towards loki because i felt like i knew him. i'd also studied norse mythology, and so i knew all the backstories about how odin had been cruel to loki and i felt it wasn't fair. again, this just drew me to loki. Avengers was also the first PG 13 movie i was allowed to see besides the Harry Potter movies, and the first 'adult' movie i saw in theaters. i got SUPER into it - i mean holidays full of avengers legos and action figure sets into it. but my parents wouldn't let me see any other marvel movies, so after about a year the novelty went away. when i was 14 and alone in my house for a year straight, i watched thor and liked it enough, and watched the dark world and wasn't interested. during both movies, i did really like loki, but the interest didn't go anywhere because 1) i was afraid i wasn't supposed to watch the movies, and didn't want anything about them on my search history and 2) i thought fanfiction and fandom was only something for cartoons, so again, nothing happened for a few years. it's actually funny i thought that, because looking back, i interacted with the avengers fandom on my ~ipod touch~ a few times when the movie came out, i just didn't know it at the time.
anyway! this is all to say i have an established relationship with loki as a character. cut to 2017, and my family is in a different state and we have a foreign exchange student staying with us who likes to see movies and won't eat anything except sad unseasoned meat, fries, and movie theater popcorn. so, we all went to see thor ragnarok. i think the last marvel movie i'd seen at that point was age of ultron, so i was really walking in blind. i didn't even remember that loki 'died' so when he showed up i didn't really have a reaction because i just assumed he was going to be in the movie.
well, as you all know, ragnarok is not only my favorite thor movie, but it's one of my favorite movies of all time. i quickly became invested because ragnarok is an easy movie to enjoy, it's more humorous and on the ant-man side of things, it has characters that i have background knowledge of, and it had loki in the goddamn black suit. at this point, i was 16 and realized that tom hiddleston, specifically as loki, is a very beautiful man. and when a few weeks after i saw ragnarok, and i still couldn't get mr loki and his obvious sensitivity and love for his father and brother and also him wearing that suit out of my head, i decided it was time for a good ol' fashioned "loki x reader" search on tumblr (at this point, i was aware that fandom is not only limited to cartoons and that there are imagines for literally any character out there).
and i did not like what i found lmao. i couldn't really find any fics at the time that weren't massive blocks of text, and i just couldn't see myself in the readers. so i ignored that and began coming up with little scenarios in my head just for myself. the problem is, when i do that, i have to get those scenes out on paper because if i don't, i'll just think about them with no end.
(this such a long story i'm so sorry i doubt this is what you wanted) but! i very soon got distracted because i began dating my ex girlfriend. but then we broke up a few months later and it was a nasty breakup. and so, i did what i do when something goes wrong, and i retreated to my head to hang out with fictional characters. and there was loki, waiting for me. so, in march 2018, i needed to get all these loki scenarios out of my head, i wan't finding content about him that i personally vibed with, and i was wanting that positive interaction i knew fanfic could bring because my ex was making my life shitty. and so, this blog was born.
tldr: i write because i inherently make up little adventures or relationships with or between characters, and i am very very picky about fanfiction and will fill the gaps with my own work when necessary. also in the case of loki i just have a lot of history w/him.
whew! sorry for such a long answer. thank you for the ask <3
#loki/this blog is the only character to stand the test of time#every other fandom i've written for lasted (at absolute most) a year an a half#fun fun#ask

heyyyy so you seem to be into horror movies atm. would you mind recommending a few you really like? i'm looking for new ones to watch :)
oh!! yes defs!! i am having a Films Phase atm and that is a Lot of horror for me. I'll aim to keep this to a reasonable length lol and not to succumb too much to recency bias
Saint Maud (2019)
Follows a pious nurse who becomes dangerously obsessed with saving the soul of her dying patient.
having said that... i just watched this and i can't get it out of my head. this is the kind of horror where the perspective you're tied to keeps doing things that make you go "oh no :cc".
maud's particular strain of religion is roman catholic ish so ymmv on whether you want to watch a movie w those themes - i loved it and canNOT stop thinking abt it!!
Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
A monstrous spirit seeks revenge by invading the dreams of teenagers.
literally wes craven should get a nobel prize for the idea of "slasher but the murders happen in your dreams" bc the weird dream imagery is SO good. follows kind of a standard slasher model in basic structure, except now when there's a Murder Chase Sequence you can have the weird dream feeling of running like you're moving thru molasses, communicated via rad practical effects. also nancy thompson is THE most competent person on earth, i love her so much.
it does have the blood and gore you'd expect (a LOT of blood) and since its the 80s the villain has some weird horny energy towards the teens he's murdering.
Blood and Black Lace (6 donne per l'assassino) (1964)
A masked, shadowy killer brutally murders the models of a scandalous fashion house in Rome.
do you want to see some murders done in the most saturated colourful gorgeous lighting? do you not need much in the way of a plot? boy is this the movie for you! truly beautiful, i gasped aloud in fear at some scenes.
the murders do hew violent, and my friend and i both had to look away from the screen at a point bc we did not want to see events unfold further, so if violence is an issue watch w caution.
Eyes Without A Face (Les yeux sans visage) (1960)
A surgeon causes an accident which leaves his daughter disfigured and goes to extreme lengths to give her a new face.
this is a movie that is shot so unsettlingly. the camerawork is *chef's kiss* very effective and creepy. it is also a movie in which face transplants are a major plot point. you might think, as i did, that since it is a black and white movie from 1960 probably they don't have the effects to fully realise the scary parts of that - go ahead and take my word that they make do JUST fine.
aside from the face-related stuff, which you can consider as much or as little as you like to decide if you'd like to see, this is also a movie that makes scares out of someone having scarring/disfigurement and having prosthetics to cover that. if you don't want to watch that, more than fair.
The Wicker Man (1973)
A puritan Police Sergeant arrives in a Scottish island village in search of a missing girl whom the locals claim never existed.
i love this movie so much. classic folk horror, the aesthetic of a 70s crime show which appeals to me deeply as a columbo enthusiast, FOLK SINGING. it is also, Imo, not That scary???? unlikely to give you nightmares, by my reckoning at least.
what this movie Does have, if not scares, is a fair bit of nudity/sex, so keep that in mind.
The Endless (2017)
As kids, they escaped a UFO death cult. Now, two adult brothers seek answers after an old videotape surfaces and brings them back to where they began.
this is a movie that does a lot more than what it says on the tin, and goes in some weird mindbendy directions. it's been a minute since i watched it but i was SUPER impressed by the visuals. while there is certainly some Scary Business depicted, in general the camera will move off of the horrible-thing-abt-to-happen and so you only witness the effects of it, not the thing itself.
Candyman (1992)
The Candyman, a murderous soul with a hook for a hand, is accidentally summoned to reality by a skeptic grad student researching the monster's myth.
see now, that description gives the idea of a simpler movie than this is. it also (tries to?) talk abt race and class, and it captures the feeling of reality slipping around the protagonist as she gets pulled into this Spooky Business.
i will highlight this since the description doesn't imply it that if unreality/gaslighting Type Things are not fun for you, this might not end up being enjoyable
------
honourable mention: the conjuring (ghosts), insidious (ghosts), hellraiser (kink demons and body horror), friday the 13th (slasher), halloween (slasher), the exorcist tv show (weirdly good?? Very spooky possession stuff), gaslight (does what it says on the tin, does it REALLY WELL)
