Jeff Satur Black Tie Fashion Breakdown
Tumblr media
I can do all things through spite, which sustains me.
I love the fashion in Black Tie. Jeff's really living his best Valentino life, and I wanted to break down what I could determine. Granted, his coats almost all seem to be custom, and while I worked in the industry it was not with Valentino, so I would hesitate to guess. (I mean, I will if you want, my DMs are open). But everything else I could more or less find on the website and I thought, why not? My besty already got slapped with it, why should you guys escape?
Let's Do This.

Shorts: LANA STRETCH BERMUDA SHORTS $ 1,250.00
Shoes: ROCKSTUD M-WAY COMBAT BOOT IN CALFSKIN WITH FEATHERS 50MM $ 2,850.00
Author's Notes: (Image from Jeff's Instagram)
The finale red look seems to have at least 2 iterations, the heavier solid piece that may involve a tie (social media) and the lighter almost-chiffon that Jeff got rained on in the MV.
Tumblr media
Author's Note: At least one of the Valentie ties in the opening/secondary look appears to have been customized (embroidery) per social media images (Jeff's Insta) rendering it priceless. (He does wear alternate Valentie Ties in appearances that do NOT appear to be embroidered with JS).
Tumblr media
Not to be all The Devil Wears Prada about it but:
"Are you wearing the-?"
"The Valentino Feather Boots? Yes, I am."
p.s. hi @markmybirds. love you marmar.

Met Gala Dress Part 1: Stealing the Show with Ocean's 8.
Happy Met Gala Day everyone! As of this moment, hundreds of celebrities from the worlds of art, fashion, music, sports, movies, television and politics are gathering for what late fashion journalist Andre Leon Talley called "the SuperBowl of Fashion".
Began in 1971, the Met Gala raises all of the funds for the yearly budget of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's costume institute. With every last detail overseen by Vogue's Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, the gala is to kickoff the institute's spring Expedition. This year (2023) will honor the legacy of the brilliant and controversial designer the late Karl Lagerfeld. My next video we'll discuss Lagerfeld and how well those attending this year honored the theme, got it all wrong or found a nice middle ground. Alongside actually making an outfit that I would wear if I was deemed worthy enough to ascend that famous staircase.
But that's another video. Today I'm going to plan my outfit and gather some inspiration from the fashion media where the Met Gala takes center stage.
Yup. All two of them.
One was the documentary First Monday in May, which I'll probably cover next year. But this year we're going to draw inspiration from Warner Brother's 2018's Ocean's 8. This spinoff is part of the Ocean's franchise, started in 1960 with the original Ocean's 11 starring most of the Rat Pack. Then remade in 2001 with George Clooney, with the squeals Oceans 12 in 2004 and Ocean's 13 in 2007. So what's the premise of this movie? I'll let Sandra Bullock explain.
Starring Mindy Kaling as the jeweler, Met Gala staple Rihanna as the hacker, and Helena Bonham Carter as my favorite character Rose the designer. Also starring in her first major film role Awkwafina as the pickpocket. Fun....with Sarah Paulson as the Fence, And Anne Hathaway playing herself. Just kidding!
Actually another Youtuber pointed out that each of the main cast basically are playing criminal variants of themselves. And it's true! Plus each character gets to shine with gorgeous gowns curated by costume designer Sarah Edwards. And of course rounding out the cast as fhe second in command Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock as the fearless ringleader.
Tumblr media
Anne Hathaway has my second favorite looks of the movie. I mean look at her Met Gala dress. Stunning. The street wear reflects each character perfectly. With my favorite looks of the movie being Cate Blachett's Lou. Every look has a cool, edgy, seventies rocker vibe.
Tumblr media
As for the fictional Met Gala in the movie, I can't really tell what theme it's suppose to be. Rococo maybe? With all the royal Jewels? None of the dresses really have cohesion beyond gorgeous. Which is on brand for the Met Gala so...eh...
Tumblr media
The movie is also on brand for a heist movie. Full of twists, turns, complications, revenge, high tech gadgets and surprises. Like any heist movie you have to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the ride.
Tumblr media
So with that in mind, I'm designing a full skirt out of a black and white floral fabric I've had in my stash for years. (RIP Hancocks) using a thifted wedding dress as and underskirt. Plus since Karl Lagerfeld loved mixing fabrics, I want to make a tee shirt out of black lace. Plus I want to make a bustier with faux pearls, but I'll have to see if I have time. So that's the plan. We go in two weeks. Any questions? Leave them in the comments.

The production studio at "Baby, the Stars Shine Bright" featured in an episode of Tokyo Fashion Express. Their designs typically require up to 50 sewing patterns, which is about 5 times as many as the average dress. Detailed notes on measurements and specifications are written for the sewing factory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sewing factory is in Ibaraki prefecture. For more than 20 years they've been sewing clothes exclusively for BTSSB. 17 people work there, most of them being veterans age 60 or over. Due to the complexity they work in teams for ironing, sewing lace and ribbons, as well as completing gathers and frills.

The manager of the factory, Sumiko Watahiki, says in an interview: "There's tons of gather, lace, and layering, which requires a lot of sewing. At first, I doubted I could do it! It was that hard. (But) I'm always impressed with the adorable designs when I see the finished products or while I work."

I love it when you see art of, like, a big fuckoff werewolf raging in perfectly fitted Regency finery. Like, that stuff doesn't stretch – there are only two ways this scenario happens, and both of them have fascinating implications:
Their werewolf transformation magically resizes their clothes to fit their hulking nine-foot-tall beastman form, and understands the principles of tailoring well enough to make that look good; or
They've had outfits specially made for their hulking nine-foot-tall beastman form, and the ravening ragebeast they become makes a point of changing before going forth to rampage and slaughter.

Happy birthday, Harvey Guillén!!
It's been a year since he stole the show in Siriano at the Met Gala, so here's a collection of his fiercest red carpet looks since their collaboration began at the Oscars in 2023.
