Tumblr media
P L E A S E . T A K E . T H I S . T I M E .
to read. to hear. to invite yourself into the space of imagining yourself, your family, your own children being in these circumstances...
_______________________________________
This little family has endured SO SO MUCH!
Countless bombings, including being stuck under rubble with a newborn and just days post-partum, resulting in her eldest daughter having a TBI and other physical injuries. Since, they continue to be displaced time and time again. Just her, and her 3 babies. All on their own.
Tumblr media
Rawan and her children face countless and on going medical disorders as a result of current conditions, lack of access to treatment, and the toxicity of environments they are forced to remain in.
A mother with 0 postpartum care. A mother, without her village. Gone. A mother whose home was bombed with her and her babies inside. A mother, exhausted and enduring the unimaginable. A mother, being ill herself with clotting, heart conditions, strokes, ongoing additional illnesses, and yet having to walk unfathomable lengths in the heat to try to find access to water that isn't even drinkable. A mother who she is all her babies have. A mother who is relying on you. On me. On us.
Exhausted. Confused. Uncertain. Loosing hope.
---------------------------------------------------
Just as they continue to rise from the rubble, may we also rise in the mission of elevating her voice, her story, their experiences, and their access to basic necessities (Formula, diapers, food, water, female hygiene, clothing, etc).
PLEASE . PLEASE . PLEASE . PLEASE .
Only WE can make this happen for her and the girls.
✨️✨️✨️Can we get 20 people to donate $10 before this weekend!? That's 4 people giving $10 each day over these next 5 days.

Downton Abbey Fashion 18 - post-war evening dresses
I feel like all the dresses I personally find beautiful are the ones that are not allowed to come back for another season. Unfortunately, this applies to a large part of Cora’s early wardrobe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interestingly, while I’m pretty sure she wears this champagne evening gown at least twice, I think she never wears it without the dark brown velvet robe. At least I don’t remember having seen the sleeves of the dress. The colors are a nice enough match, but nothing on either piece points to them having been made as a set. The dress is embroidered in crystal or glass beads, the coat apparently in pearls. But anyway, this dress is lovely!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More velvet, this time in plum over a pink silk base layer. Plus a little white lace trim. So far, so nice, although I don’t know why they made the sleeves of yet another fabric instead of working out something similar to the deep cowl collar. But fine, the beige works as a nice backdrop to a little flower embroidery.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cora can’t keep off the velvet this season – time for some black. It’s fashionable black, not mourning black, so Cora can afford to pretty it up with netting on sleeves and shoulders, tassels on the sleeve hems, a big brooch in the front, and some gorgeous lace gloves that I desire with a vengeance. Despite this being a quite heavily decorated dress, I think the neckline would invite a discreet little necklace. Ah well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*sigh* This red silk work is quite an iconic look, and one that stays into season 3. I’m gonna level with you: I think it outstays its welcome. I don’t like this one. Oh, it’s a fine dress in theory; the embroidery is lovely, the red shades coordinate well with the golden shoulder straps, I’m a fan of the fluttery sleeves. But the cut of this bodice isn’t doing Cora’s figure any favors. Is there any reason to make her waist look so disproportionately short without really hitting the Edwardian empire waistline?
Tumblr media
Much better. This goes a lot more into 1920s styles with the drapey chiffon top, and I think the hip overlay (sash?) looks very pretty. It’s the only heavily embroidered piece, which seems unusual for the muted coloring of the dress, but it merges very nicely into the wide sleeve cutouts with the jewel trim.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yay, black dresses with embroidery are keepers for season 3. Okay, this is not the worst of them; the gold thread with beads makes for a pretty cute look, but why does Cora wear a sleeveless dress for Christmas? Or is this a shirt? The skirt is greyer, so it might be separate.
--------------
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s something with this season and brown dresses. It doesn’t always work in the wearer’s favor. I mean, I like this pleated wrap style, but the head scarf really washes out Rosamund’s beautiful ginger hair and the dress doesn’t give any other color pop either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey, look, it’s a black dress with golden beading. You know what this means: It’s spectacular enough to stay into season 3! I’m getting very tired of this, but I can’t just bitch. The chiffon sleeves are cute, and there’s this style of little grape bundle earrings that pops up here and there across the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A black dress I find remotely interesting? Can only be here for one season. See, this one pulls off the empire waist Cora’s red silk dress didn’t want to commit to. And the top is basically just one big stretch of gold brocade (plus or minus some black chiffon for the sleeves). Damaged brocade, by the look of that second image. Is this an original? Is that why they couldn’t keep it around?
Tumblr media
One of the subtler favorites of mine: The use of these black scallops is just delicious, how they open to diamond shapes on the arms (over barely visible chiffon that has exactly the color of Rosamund’s skin) and are held together with actual diamonds. I love it, it’s wonderful despite not having made a spectacle out of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These shots are not great, but this is rather a lovely dress, albeit one that is in Edwardian style and is thus beginning to look out of fashion. The skirt is some silverish blue velvet that pairs nicely with the paler-colored top, all crepe-work wrapped in a V over a simple light blue base layer. Also, behold the trim. It sparkles!

Hello everyone! This post is a little different in that it’s asking for aid and advice both. I’ve been in contact with @karamalmadhoun2 who has informed me that as the money donated to his campaign has not yet reached his family directly, he would like to create a new campaign, or otherwise receive money directly so that his family can use it now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That said, I am not entirely sure as to what the best way to facilitate this would be. This is not something that I have done before, or have any sort of experience with; furthermore, transferring my own money is one thing, but I am not sure that I am equipped to handle money sent by anyone else, or at the very least not without very clear-cut and explicit directions as how best to go about this. So I was wondering: does anyone know of the most effective way to get funds to Palestinians directly? Or, if possible, could they put either me or Karam in touch with somebody who does know how best to facilitate this, or who has done so before? Karam’s campaign has been vetted, and I have no doubts that it is legitimate. I would very much like to help the best that I can in this matter. Thank you in advance.

Hi 👋, My name is Mohammad, and I’m reaching out in a moment of desperate need. I’m a father of three young children living in Gaza, and we are caught in the midst of a catastrophic war. Our home is no longer a safe haven, and the future here seems increasingly uncertain. 💔
I’ve launched a fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $40,000 to relocate my family to a safer place where my children can grow up in peace and have a chance at a brighter future. 🕊️🇵🇸
Unfortunately, my previous fundraising efforts were abruptly halted when my account was terminated without explanation. However, I remain determined to keep fighting for my family’s safety and well-being. 🫶
If you could take a moment to read our story, consider donating, or simply share our campaign with others, it would make an incredible difference. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to safety and a new beginning. 🙏
Thank you for your time, compassion, and support. ❤

Just a little GoFundMe List...
Dearest Star Wars Mutuals...
This is purely a no-pressure post kind of thing, but seeing as how I've gotten a few recent follows by people in need of assistance and we've pretty much interacted the most on this platform, I thought I would tag you solely for visibility, though any donations would be appreciated as well. Anyways, here are the links I've posted/reblogged in the past week (as far as my memory recalls)::
From @skatehani Hani Al-Hajjar // €29,985/€50,000
From @hilelnabil Nabil Hilal // €710/€35,500
From @amjad20011 Amjad Almoghrabi // €10,149/€25,000
From @karamrafeek Karam Rafiq Al-Nabih // €6,385/€20,000
From @hakimalnajjar Hakim Al-Najjar €569/€50,000
From @anas-gaza-family The Anas Family // $10,225/$20,000
From @mohammedayesh Hossam Saleh Mohamed El Bardawil // $70 CAD/$20,000 CAD
From @firasmuhaisen Firas Muhaisen // $70 CAD/$82,000 CAD
From @aymanayyad81 Fadi A. Ayyad // $11,112/$35,000
From @haneenatya34 Suheir Hojok $37,544 AUD/$70,000 AUD
Again...no pressure to @libraryfordyslexics @skellymom @maxims-multifandom-corner @gun-roswell ...I just wanted to put this list out there because some of the links are barely getting any attention and I wanted to do something, anything, to change that. <3 Anyways, if you can donate at all, that's great...if not, please reblog. <3 <3
For everyone else, please don't scroll past without donating or reblogging...these families need some help. <3 Thank you.

Downton Abbey Fashion 15 - post-war indoors fashion
I already need three posts to go through all of the indoors fashion of this season, and it’s only the second. Can you imagine how many posts I will need once they have 200 and more costumes introduced in one season?
Tumblr media
Edith has been wearing this blouse to a walking suit before, but now we get an uncovered look at it. Quite cute; while the color isn’t super exciting, these little flower bundles do their thing. And the little black button rows under the collarbones? So unnecessary, yet so lovely.
Tumblr media
The art deco blouse is BACK, baby! Have I mentioned I like these blouses? They are something to look at, but they also are cut quite wide and seem comfy. Very brown outfit; once again, this might’ve benefitted from a contrasting skirt. But I like the little scallops embroidered on the top of the waistband, and they seem to have liked it too, as this skirt gets another moment on stage.
Tumblr media
Here, it goes with a greenish grey blouse. Edith has a lot of indoors day outfits this season because, during the war, we mainly see her working in the house. She hasn’t quite grown into her confidence yet, daring a print pattern here and there, but rarely a bold color.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, polka dots are one of the patterns that turn me off like garlic blooms do Dracula. Edith kind of looks like a librarian here, but I guess that is one of her jobs for the convalescing soldiers. I wonder if the apron is her own or she had to get one from Downstairs.
Tumblr media
Is this dress grey or lilac? I’ll tentatively say lilac. The stripes don’t pick me up as they usually do. Maybe they would have more impact if it weren’t for the white lace-ish embroidery around the collar. The dress is fine, I guess; it just doesn’t wow me. Edith, do you wish to become one with the curtains?
Tumblr media
See, this is the outfit I meant that looks a lot like one Mary wore during the same season. Only Edith has a round buckle where Mary chose a square one, Edith wears a slightly brighter red, and the lapels of her blouse are longer, but they also end in these little tassels. I also think the cuffs are worth a second look; they are buttoned up, and these buttons are cute. What is it with me and buttons?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This sort of washed-out emerald green becomes one of Edith’s signature colors. It’s almost a shame to introduce it in such understatement, but I do like the structural weaving on this shirt. Interestingly, she wears it again years later in season 4, and it fits into an entirely different fashion just by virtue of how she wears it: Loosely over her skirt instead of gathered in at the waist.
Tumblr media
Speaking of color understatements. Edith does have a quite brown- and grey-dominated wardrobe this season, but alright; she at least gets to play with some patterns. And the silk ribbon trim is back.
Tumblr media
And a dress where I really don’t mind the dull color so much because the cut is so neat. It compliments her figure, the neckline is flattering, I love the buttoned front and cuffs. Look out, Mary; fashionista Edith is on her way.
--------------
Tumblr media
Sybil also gets another of these blouses, and she also gets some soft lilac to wear. I’m not the biggest fan of this big-ass flower print (I can’t help it; I’m a sucker for art deco), but the overall picture is rather lovely. Wouldn’t want to wear this buckle though; that probably pokes her in the stomach if she ever leans forward. Or maybe not; this is still corset time.
Tumblr media
We gotta appreciate the simple things. There’s nothing fancy about this knit cardigan. But oh my god, I want one! It looks so supremely cuddly and warm. You know things are bad when I consider taking up knitting again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More lilac because Sybil is still in her pastel phase, but this blouse has a cute checkered print. And I’m bringing back the apron question, although with Sybil, I at least have a solid reason to think she got one from Downstairs – because she walked up to them and asked for help with everyday knowledge such as basic cooking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at Sybil being one of maybe three people in this house who ever show Edith any kindness and support. I mean, look at this blouse! I don’t know if this is Sybil’s farewell to light blue, but it may well be her farewell to wide, flat collars. The folded lapels give this a little extra though, and so does the tiny strip of lace trim. Yeah, alright; I’ll admit it: This look is another favorite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This shouldn’t be too noteworthy, except it’s the outfit in which Sybil runs away from home and gets all the way to the next inn. I appreciate that Edith and Mary found her sleeping fully clothed in a separate bed; Branson would have come off as a little too pushy otherwise. I wonder if Sybil picked this on purpose because it doesn’t look like much. Someone running around in a grey skirt and a white blouse devoid of decoration except for a little simple lace on the collar is not who you’d suspect of being one of the young Crawley ladies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn’t so much indoor fashion as it is a work uniform. I don’t have a category specifically for that because it would be a lonely outfit there; since nurses aren’t service workers, I didn’t want to put Nurse Crawley in with the staff of Downton. Anyway. Grey dress with white cuffs and white collar, grey arm band with a Red Cross on it, white apron – it’s all very practical and, obviously, very uniform. I was a little surprised at the head wrap, I’ll admit; I’m more used to nurses of the time wearing these starched little veil caps, but I also don’t know enough to compare specifically British WWI nurses. So I wonder if this was a fashion choice or a historical one.
