When Clark asks Bruce to be his boyfriend Bruce agrees on the condition they keep it secret. With Damian still adjusting to life at the manor and them being coworkers, Bruce doesn't want their relationship to affect their work or his relationship with his kids that he's not sure will approve. While not the ideal conditions, Clark reluctantly agrees.

For a while they're able to make this work until one night Damian catches Clark sneaking out and confronts him. Clark panics begging Damian not to tell anyone or ruin his relationship. He's aware Damian isn't exactly his biggest fan and doesn't appreciate him being around his father so much. To his surprise the child has different motivations. He overheard that Clark has a farm and wants to visit it.

At first Clark is skeptical of Damian's intentions but the moment he see's him interact with the animals he realizes they are genuine and starts seeing him as a real kid. These visits to the farm become more and more frequent and while Clark doesn't appreciate being blackmailed by a preteen, they start to bond over their love of nature, farm life and Martha's pies.

Meanwhile Bruce's life is falling apart. He's noticed Damian sneaking out of the house at odd hours. He's worried that Damian may betray them and rejoin the league of assassins behind his back but doesn't know how to bring this up with him without sounding accusatory. And usually he would talk to Clark about whether he's being paranoid and irrational but recently Clark has seemed a bit distant too. He's been making excuses to not see him and Bruce feels like he's keeping something from him.

Is Clark cheating on him or has he just lost interest? Was asking to keep their relationship secret too much and scared him off? Is hiding your boyfriend and lying to your kids perhaps not the best way to maintain healthy relationships? And why did the manor suddenly smell like the inside of a barn

I can’t tell you how much I love this artwork from ancient Egypt (the Middle Kingdom). People have been raising cattle and practicing animal husbandry for so long, that there is something almost inherently human about this scene.

Everyone in the field of veterinary medicine or agriculture knows the feeling of staying up late with a laboring animal trying to make sure both mom and baby are okay. Delivering a calf is often physically and emotionally exhausting work that takes enormous patience and learned skill. It requires a unique balance of physical strength and gentleness to do correctly. There is no feeling quite like getting that baby out and everyone is okay. I’m certain ancient people must have felt the same way, and I wonder if the artist knew this feeling firsthand. I wonder if those humans depicted were people the artist knew, if the cow and calf maybe were as well.

A beloved hen, who no longer lives.

She was a Barred Rock. She had intelligent eyes and was exceptionally friendly. She had a habit of "talking" to me whenever I would see her.

She is missed.
