ngl, I feel bad for Brandon because he probably gets a lot of this kind of shit from entitled people, but I cannot lie, it feels amazing when Brandon calls them out on their bullshit.

“how do you expect me to believe emmrich isn’t a gay man and neve isn’t a lesbian” god here we fucking go again. how many times do we have to tell y’all that bisexuals can look and act just like gay men and lesbians and to suggest otherwise, even as a joke, is biphobic

"Aegon was uninterested in Jaehaera once he realized she wasn't the boy" He was looking for Jaehaerys for a specific reason.
"Aegon couldn't instantly tell his own kids apart" They're small twins, and Jaehaera had her back turned to him; of course he couldn't instantly tell.
"Aegon ignored his children in s1, he only has an interest in them now because he's king and they're of use to him" Tom Glynn-Carney himself has said multiple times that Aegon loves his children. He didn't "ignore them," we barely even saw Aegon and Helaena in season 1, let alone their kids. We saw the kids ONCE, and even Helaena was only sitting in the room while a maid tended to them.
Aegon loves his children. And to my knowledge, there was never anything in the books saying he didn't. If you can't cope with that, then you should sort that out in therapy.

I am honestly just SO tired of what I'm gonna unironically call fake fans of Dragon Age. The Steam Community needs to be shut down at this point, because at least 75% of the discussions are... like this.
I'm gonna make a longer post, or maybe even a video, about this at some point. But I really am just reeling from what I've seen and need time to actually process my thoughts into something coherent.

Short answer: the ones in wholesome fandom want to keep the illusion of being wholesome, pure, not problematic. And if you break such an illusion well good luck with death threats in your DMs
Meanwhile the fandom with dark content are aware of its content and most know it doesn’t equal their irl morals/values. It’s all fictional so nobody is harm unless you let that consume you to point it harms yourself or others

why are people so obsessed with comparing alicent motherhood to rhaenyra's?
their situations are so different. alicent had no support system, the only parental role model she had was otto. she was maritally raped and forced to have children at 15 with an abusive neglectful partner and no support system to help and guide her. (because yes, a 15yo teenager is still a child and needs help and guidance to deal with a baby)
while rhaenyra's mother also died, and viserys is also a shit role model, rhaenyra had children when she was older with a man she loved \ cared about. she chose to have kids with harwin. also, laenor was also a kind man and seemed to support her and the children.
alicent and rhaenyra both loved their kids and did the best they could. alicent is def struggling with her motherhood, but the way this fandom shows her no compassion and labels her as a "bad mom" while forgiving viserys's horrible treatment of his children is so disappointing to see.
people don't realize that "you're not as good of as mother as this other woman" is constantly weaponized and used to oppress women. and it's never "you're not as good of a dad as this other man". never.

Hotd fandom never ceases to amaze me with their ruthless behavior towards some of the most talented artists and writers..... and it's always the most unemployed and untalented fucks who band together to drive out these gifted individuals. CrazyTom's work was the only saving grace in this dismal community for the past month but you all had to ruin it by bullying them out of this fandom. You guys don’t deserve nice things istg 😭

my thoughts on the whole Cameo Thing™
Putting my first tweet in a screenshot; the rest is copy-pasted. And for context, since the quoted tweet was (understandably) deleted, it said, "Yes $100 is a lot, and it feels a little classist as some of us won’t be able to afford it."
Tumblr media
Cameos are not a public service. No one is hurt by not having the ability to spend $100 on a video. No one is being treated worse than others because they can't afford a personalized video. I don't understand how "classist" would even come to mind.
Even if that was the worst example, I'd still fully get J's reaction. He and G are professionals. They deserve to be paid fairly. Based on G's earlier rate, other ppl's cameo rates, con photo rates, and how unique J&G are... $100 is a great deal.
I expected the $100 price tag. If George charged $50 for one person... I mean, there's two of them now. 50 x 2 = 100. I'm shocked that more than a handful of folks were surprised.
A personal anecdote: I've just started taking art commissions this fall. I am finally confident enough to charge a rate that fairly compensates me. Honestly, I should probably charge more.
Things like art commissions, cameos, convention photos/signings all fall under the same umbrella. They are treats. They are luxuries. They are never going to be equally accessible to all. It's not just price; it's also time, expertise, location, etc.
What kind of message does it send artists, writers, actors, creatives, etc when we frame their reasonable* rates as selfish and wrong? * reasonable based on industry standard, not on individuals' wallets
Anyway. J radiated enthusiasm for another chance to engage with us. I expected his happy bubble to burst at some point—I was surprised by his level of fandom engagement tbh—but that doesn't make it any less fucking sad.
-
If you're upset or heartbroken or angry because Jayden is backing away: maybe think about why, and if you could change what you do to help protect yourself from suffering this kind of distress should something similar happen again.

It makes me sad when I look at Ace Attorney fandom stuff from 10-15 years ago and see how much more comparatively chill and accepting they were of different ships from the most popular ones back then. It wasn’t perfect or free of discourse, obviously, but at least fans could mostly get away with shipping that stuff without getting called horrible people, unlike today where the Ace Attorney fandom is determined to bully anyone who dare ship the Unacceptable Stuff™️ out of the fandom (ESPECIALLY on aatwt my goodness). I know this isn’t just me because I’ve seen even certain older fans note this and say stuff like “Wow I’ve been in the Ace Attorney fandom for years and back then there used to be so many Narumayos and ppl who shipped so-and-so in het I’m so glad these are no longer acceptable we’ve come so far” WRONG. The fandom has turned into a hivemind who think it’s acceptable to unperson others over ships and will sooner sympathize with one who harasses another over a Bad Ship than the one getting harassed because how dare they ship outside the sacred stuff. You really think it’s a good thing the AA fandom environment has gotten tyrannical about what you’re allowed to ship? Old Ace Attorney Shipping Fandom was FAR from perfect, but if your reasons for why it was bad or worse than now are “ships I dislike were allowed to exist” hoooooo boy.

Found this dumbass article in the Dragon Age tag, and I just. Can't. Deal. With the biphobia/panphobia surrounding Astarion anymore. I really can't. I'm so done with it.
This bitch really wrote in one paragraph how it's not fair to assume Taash's gender in Dragon Age based on appearance, only to then claim the following:
"In Baldur's Gate 3, Astarion is a gay-coded man whose definitive romantic experiences prior to the game are with men. It could be argued that Astarion's gay experience has been erased for the benefit of straight women."
The dissonance is astounding!
Astarion is not "gay-coded". He is canonically queer already! And pretending like he's not the "right" kind of queer based on the fact that he's "too femme" or what we know of his past sexual experiences is bullshit! Especially because he DOES talk about his experiences with people of different genders! Hell, in the game he might end up sleeping with Lae'zel of his own volition! But no, he can't possibly be interested in anyone whose not a man. //sarcasm
And like, let's pretend he had only happened to date men. That doesn't change the fact that he openly voices his interest in other genders too, in game. Why would you not believe him? I've only ever dated women. Does that mean my interest in men too is invalid in your eyes? Or are you going to respect that I know how I feel? How far are you willing to go to pretend bi/pan folks don't exist? To ignore the fact that we are capable of expressing ourselves in a variety of ways like anyone else? Why should being bi/pan mean we are not allowed to be femme or masc or androg or any variety of all of the above, regardless of what our genders happen to be too?
Astarion is not real, but he represents real people who share his identity. By acting like that identity can't possibly be real, you are disrespecting real people, and that's just gross.

I gotta say, I'm disappointed but not surprised by all the super pale Lucanis art I've seen thus far, despite the in-game images we've seen of him.
Like. Let's for a second say he's not a character of colour and he really is just a white guy with a deep tan. Even still, it's super sketchy to not depict that! You're still saying you either don't know how to colour someone with light brown skin or that what, you're afraid of colour? I literally don't understand. I don't understand how the choice to drastically lighten up a character's skin is anything other than favouritism of whiteness.
(And I will also reiterate: Just because he has an Italian name does not inherently mean he can't be a POC. Josephine, another Antivan character, was confirmed to be a POC by Weekes, and Lucanis literally has the same skin tone as her...)

Criticism is not censorship btw
If you claim to be “anti censorship” and promptly try and shut down anyone who voices a belief or perspective that contradicts your own, you’re just a massive hypocrite.
