If you were in charge of making IHS in different languages, would you like to translate the characters's names or let them as they are?

I'm not making any fan translation, btw, I just realized that Hope's name evolution from Hopeless to Hopeful to Hope would be near untranslatable in my native language.

Ironically, Jasper's name would barely change at all, being just Jaspe. As a curiosity, if Edge's name comes from him being sharp, the translated result would be Filo.

We have had folks talk us through this very issue, actually! The way they seem to get around it is by using different synonyms for the adjective names that are hard/impossible to translate. Which we're completely fine with.

It's like how the German translation for The Animals of Farthing Wood has Charmer's name replaced with the German word for 'grace' vs. her actual name translated into German.

Obviously, you appear know the translation process better than I do but yeah, we're not super fussed about people switching out the names with different synonyms since that's the power of synonyms. I can only imagine it getting super hard with the names of the Light Siblings and Alight because synonyms for 'light' is narrowing down things a ton vs. synonyms for personality traits but I could be wrong oof - RJ

Did this quick edit a few days ago in celebration of the book's announcement. I can't wait for the ebook to release, and my physical copy to come home!

Went with Handbook for the title translation because it fit with the Villainous logo better lengthwise than Manual and gave it a much sturdier base for the title.

E: Yeah… It has been.

K: Things have gotten pretty tough inside the prison, but… well, you’ve probably heard all about that from the others already, haven’t you?

E: Yeah… I heard that you protected other prisoners from Kotoko. I owe you my thanks.

K: That much is only natural. However… she really is strong, isn’t she? I mean, I’ve experienced some fights myself, but [going up against] a woman like her was a first.

E: Hm… Is she strong enough that even you can’t stop her from doing harm?

K: Well, in cases like this, it’s generally the heavier person who ends up winning. After all, if she really does have proper killing intent, I can’t afford to let her injure anyone. It’s difficult, isn’t it.

E: Is that so…

K: I was afraid that it’d come to this from the very beginning. There’s a lot of young kids here, too. It’d be hard for anyone to keep a decent mentality in a situation like this.

E: …You’re pretty rational.

K: I wonder. Maybe it’s because I’m used to violence. Even so… I couldn’t make it for Shiina-chan. I feel responsible for [what happened to] her.

K: (sighs) Wouldn’t it be okay? I mean, this situation with prisoners being hurt wasn’t what you wanted either, was it?

K: Just pretend that you’re looking at our sins, and make your judgment with the protection of the prisoners in mind. After all, nobody can read your mind – so that much craftiness would be fine, don’t you think?

E: Hmph. That’s a very “you” kind of pretentious solution.

K: It’s the most natural conclusion, isn’t it? Do you think it’s a sin to lie in order to protect people?

E: That would be Kant.

K: Kant?

E: A philosopher who stated that lying is inherently a sin, no matter the circumstances.

K: Huh…

K: That’s ridiculous. If you can save someone by telling a lie, that’s what you should do.

K: Mmh, it’s obvious. You said you would figure out my murder by watching the footage of my mind. Is this the result of that?

E: I forgave you. While I wasn’t sure yet, I thought that it didn’t seem like you killed her directly, and with all sorts of things taken into consideration, I judged that your murder was not a sin. However. That doesn’t mean that I’m praising your nature as a liar.

K: Yeah. I believe you’re right about that.

E: In short – between love and hate, [I would say] I hate you. Remember that.

K: … I get that.

E: Huh?

K: I despise myself for lying, too. Being a liar, you see – it’s painful.

E: Heh. Then just–

K: So I’ve tried to change! I’ve tried to change. I have tried to stop lying to myself and others!

E: Just when I thought you weren’t letting out any of your true feelings and cleverly hiding your actual emotions… Now here you are, drowning in self-loathing like this.

K: (weak laugh) An old man in unstable condition… that’s not something you’d wanna see, is it. Sorry about that.

E: You know, about Kant…

K: Ah, the one who said you shouldn’t lie even if your friend might get killed.

E: From his point of view, if your friend dies because you didn’t lie, there’s no causal connection between the two… or so I’ve heard.

As promised from the Taka poll, I've finally translated another 4Koma KINGS comic! I tried to pick one that hasn't already been translated and uploaded without reference to Pinterest *coughcough*, and due to popular demand, I went with this one from the 4th volume!

Min's been a huge help once again lol. She added the text and looked over the translation, as well as fixed some of my wordage. Everyone go give her some love :D

Hello and happy new year!! (≧∇≦) ☆ TGCF AD S3 is here!!

Sorry about the very slow updates, life has been kinda hectic the past few months and I didn’t anticipate it to twist and turn the way it did lmao.

For anyone who didn’t know, TGCF AD S3 is back on March 21st!!! Which is great!!! But it makes me look like a fool because I said I wanted to tl S1&2 before S3 came out 😭 I genuinely did not expect them to release it so quickly (S2 literally ended four months ago?!)

They’ve released an official schedule for the next two months. I did a quick translation of it below👇🏼 I’ll try my best to release the tls asap for these new snippets (hopefully on Youtube, without getting copyrighted 🙏🏼)

So they’ll be releasing extras for the new season Jan 28th - 31st, Feb 1st - 4th, 12th (Lantern Festival day !!). Then the first preview will come out Mar 4th, and the second one will come out Mar 12th. The first ep is on Mar 21st, the second one is on 28th.

As the new season comes out, I’ll focus on that and in between I’ll catch up on S1 & 2. So follow me for updates! Lmk if you want to be added to a tag list :)

GERMS: Nerawareta Machi is a first-person open world, survival-horror adventure game developed by KAJ for the PlayStation in 1999. It's a surreal and strange-looking game, sometimes evoking LSD: Dream Emulator with its uncanny environments and the low poly characters, some of whom have face textures, while others are just blank. The game just recently got an "unfinished, but mostly playable" English translation, and while it apparently isn't 100% finished (the site lists it as version 0.5), it at least seems beatable in this state. There's also a complete Spanish translation.

[TRANSLATION UNDER THE CUT, Because I'm uncertain an English version exists, Certain words will be censored, my German sucks, so bear with me.]

Page one

"Esmeralda has a big family because she lives as a g** among g**s! The leader of the g**s is Clopin, the puppeteer. A little girl is waiting for his performance.

But Clopin still needs a while. Esmeralda slips into her hand puppet and gives the girl a short performance.

"I would also like a doll that looks like me!" says the girl. Now she has to go to the market to help her mom. "

"Esmeralda asks Clopin how he makes his puppets. But he just smiles and doesn't say anything!

But Esmeralda doesn't let up until the puppeteer reveals his crafting secrets!

When the market ends, the girl passes Clopin's stage again. "Hello!" Esmeralda calls. "Come! I want to show you something!"

Esmeralda shows the girl what she learned from Clopin. Together, they make a puppet! "

"The puppet looks exactly like the girl, only much smaller. She even gets to keep the puppet!

They call the puppet Desireé, because that is also the girl's name. Desireé proudly shows the others her puppet.

It is clear that all the children would like to have a puppet as well.

"Very well!" laughs Esmeralda. "There's still time until Clopin's performance! I'll show you how the puppets are made!"

Soon every child in the marketplace had a puppet twin!"

"The clock tower of Notre Dame Cathedral is striking loudly. Clopin's puppet show is about to begin!

Esmeralda slips behind the curtain to help Clopin. Outside, the children are happily playing with their dolls. More and more people are streaming in.

Backstage, Clopin hears the applause! But the show hasn't even started yet!

Clopin peeks through the curtain. He is sad to see that the people on the street are applauding the puppet children!

"Who wants to see my puppets now?" sighs Clopin. Esmeralda apologizes. "

"Esmeralda couldn't have known what would happen! Clopin looks astonished when she suddenly takes all of his puppets...

and puts them in front of the stage! Listen, children! Today we are going to do a human theater for the puppets!
