Lake Chelan, WA – New Years 2023 © Cameron Karsten Photography I think about seasons as temporary transformations of emotion, physicality and the obvious surrounding environs. To me, winter is dark, cold, unforgiving, and often turbulent. A time of rest, thick socks, hot wood-burning stoves, and dark beers to ease my moodier outlook of the external world. Being from the Pacific Northwest, winter…

Life Is Strange. Where are they now scenarios
It's officially been 10 years since the events of LIS1. So this is my scenarios for what could happen in both of the endings for each of the characters.
Save Chloe ending
Max and Chloe are wanderers. Until they decide to settle down in New York. Or in Seattle. I'd like it to be Seattle since Max's parents are there and Victoria too. But regardless of where they choose, Max settle down. Max gets a job as a photojournalist and Chloe becomes a mechanic/tattoo artist and opens up a garage that offers both of her expertise. At some point Max meets a man named Brody. Brody tells the story of two boys he met and asks Max to help prove their innocence. Max eventually does. She goes back in time to witness the Seattle Incident. Max witnessed everything and uses her eyewitness testimony plus photographic evidence to help prove Sean and Daniel's innocence. Eventually Max and Chloe are haunted by the storm. The memories of what they lost and decide that the only way to deal with these emotions and thoughts is to go to the Arcadia Bay Memorial. When they get there. Max passes out and is brought to a nightmare. She's brought back to the week, she has to go through it several times and notices several variables she missed(Nathan knowing about the storm, Sean Prescott as the mastermind, saving Nathan and ending in the hospital) but it keeps going until Rachel appears. For a more in depth look, see this post. But bottom line is Max eventually saves Rachel and by saving Rachel she saves Arcadia Bay AND Chloe. As Max, Chloe and Rachel prepare to leave Arcadia Bay, everyone is there to see them off. Joyce hugs them, Chloe and David shake hands, Warren and Kate hug Max goodbye and it closes on Max, Chloe and Rachel driving off into the rainbow and heading towards Los Angeles.
Victoria sees a therapist and leads her family's gallery until she overcomes her trauma and does not let what Jeffershit does harms her love of photography. Max and Victoria occasionally get together and share their work since Arcadia Bay.
Kate survives in the hospital since Michel confirmed she survived on threads. She writes a book for children and does podcasts about surviving Arcadia Bay and about surviving a serial killer and bullying. This is how Max, Chloe and Victoria find her. At some point Kate and Victoria go through a slow burn of dealing with their trauma in therapy, going through the bullying and learning to forgive each other. It begins as friendship and blossoms into a relationship and what started as a victim and a bully ends as girlfriends.
Steph is with Alex. Steph and Alex start off as a traveling band and even Izzy joins them. Eventually they visit Haven and catch up with RYan, but Ryan asks to join them as he can't stay knowing what his father did and losing Gabe and his mother, there's nothing for him there. So Ryan leaves with Alex and Steph and joins the band. At some point Steph and Alex meets up with Max and Chloe. Steph and Chloe reconnect and Max befriends Alex. They bond over their powers and what they've been through. However Alex notices Max's guilt after hearing Steph's story about surviving Arcadia Bay. Alex convinces Max to tell Steph the truth. Max eventually tells Steph about how saving Chloe caused the storm that wiped the town. Steph is mad for a while, but eventually forgives Max and Chloe. Every year or so Alex, Steph, Mikey, Max and Chloe get together to play D&D. Alex and Steph eventually settles down in Salem.
David would remain in Away. He would be visited by Max and Chloe, Sean and Daniel and to his shock and relief, Kate. While David mourns for Joyce, he found peace in Away and has a better relationship with his step-daughter and made peace with someone he really hurt, even if he doesn't deserve it.
Save Arcadia Bay
Max grieves for a long time until she decides to live her life. She realizes that Chloe would want her to live. She has the memories of Chloe and holds her in her heart. She has Warren, Kate and all her friends in Arcadia Bay. She graduates with Warren by her side. Max goes on to be a successful photojournalist.
Warren would be a positive presence for Max, always there for her and a good influence during her grieving period. They’d watch movies together in their dorm rooms and just hangout. In a sense, Warren becomes what Rachel was for Chloe, her angel. Warren’s presence soothes Max’s broken heart and this is why Max slowly falls in love with him. They graduate together, go to college, Warren becomes a chemistry professor in the UO while Max becomes a photojournalist. When they are older, they get married and have children. Warren becomes the Maes Hughes of his university showing off Max and their kids lol
Like in the Save Chloe ending, Kate goes on to become a author for children's book and goes on to talk about her experiences with Jefferson and bullying in the hopes it could help so many people struggling with bullying. While maintaining a close friendship with Max.
Victoria would be horrified of what Nathan and Jefferson did. Max and Victoria would make peace and Victoria would help her through her grief, which would result in Max and Victoria finally becoming friends. Victoria, Taylor and Courtney would take Max out for shopping, dress Max up and Victoria would help reignite Max’s love for photography and would not let Jefferson ruin her passion. Max and Victoria together would take some killer shots. Victoria would tell Max “when you are a famous photographer, you can put your pictures in my gallery” and it was a deal, Max would focus on becoming a photographer and Victoria would become heir to the Chase Space. Max and Victoria embrace in a hug.
Joyce and David would divorce. Joyce just had enough and realizes she held responsibility for failing Chloe and for allowing David to be a toxic and abusive influence in her life, but she just didn't want to see it. In a way she still loves him, but she can't have him in her life anymore, while David knows he failed Joyce and Chloe and leaves to atone.
Nathan does time in a prison for a brief period before he goes to a mental institution. He gets visits from Victoria and his sister Kristen. Max would confront Nathan in a mental institution. Upon being visited by Max, Nathan would break down in tears and tell her he did not mean to kill Chloe, hurt Kate or hurt Rachel. He didn’t want to hurt anyone and profusely apologize, but he knows he has to live with what he’s done and Max takes it upon herself to forgive Nathan. This results in a monthly visit where Max and Victoria would visit Nathan, think of this like the fanfic The Sense Of Me for Max and Nathan’s friendship.

A Business Proposal
A little while ago, I posted an interest poll for a series I'm planning. Since many of you responded that you were at least curious, I come today with... limited information. Limited, because the novel version of this series is currently being read by a literary agent.
But I've always felt that this story was too big to be contained in book format. Under a traditional publisher, I would lose the rights to my own property, so if they didn't want to see more of it, that's that for myself and the characters and the readers who fall in love with the characters. Self-publishing is harder. It needs to be a collaborative effort between writer and readers if it's going to succeed. Thus, I turn to the only audience I have with my "business proposal."
(Note: If you've been around long enough, you might recognize some of these characters from posts that have since been deleted.)
~*~
Working Title: Trainwrecks Length of Series: 8 seasons Length of Seasons: 24 episodes, 12 main and 12 bonus, posted biweekly. (Each season will last three months.) Episode Length: 1000-2000 words Setting: Seattle, Washington and its surrounding towns, between the years 2004-2015 Genre: Contemporary, YA to New Adult
Trainwrecks follows a diverse group of six best friends from high school to their mid-twenties, with all the romance, heartache, college and career decisions, and confusion that entails. Our main cast:
A bubbly, fat Puerto Rican girl with a passion for art and matchmaking (Ages: 14-25)
Her adopted, Argentinian brother, who is adept at music and pretty much nothing else (Ages: 16-27)
Their childhood best friend, an Asian/British/American guy who hides years of trauma behind a flamboyant and overbearing personality (Ages: 19-30)
His ill-tempered younger sister, who has just moved back to the United States from London after their parents divorced fifteen years ago (Ages: 14-25)
An equally bad-tempered Hawaiian/French guy with a love of photography and a hatred of bullies (Ages: 14-25)
The coolest, most beautiful Chinese girl you'll ever meet, who is fighting a sex addiction after a history of abuse (Ages: 16-27)
Main episodes will be written in story format. Bonus episodes will be in epistolary format: MSN chats, text messages, letters, blog posts, and eventually Twitter posts. Y'know, cuz Twitter didn't exist in 2004.
The main series (8 seasons, 24 episodes each) will be completely free to read and delivered directly to your email inbox. There will be character artwork, a bio page to keep track of everyone, a tie-in Tumblr account for memes, Spotify playlists for each character, and helpful things like family trees and relationship charts as well. Each season will have its own key artwork---cover art, if you will.
In addition to the completely free story, there will be extra content for paid subscribers and Patreon patrons, including but not limited to:
Sneak previews/early updates
Side stories
Back stories
Character and universe development notes
Entire AUs with different relationships or different genres
Money raised will either go towards paying artists or towards my student loans. And if the series gets really popular, I intend to launch a Kickstarter for physical copies that will include all the artwork and maybe some bonus items as well.
That's my business proposal. If you like it or have questions, comment on this post, scream in my inbox, chat me---do whatever but do it vocally because I need to know you're out there. And then, feel free to follow my Substack for updates.

Rest in Power, Dinh Q. Lê.
Last month, the art world lost one of the most prominent Asian American artists of our time. Dinh Q. Lê (1968-2024) was a Vietnamese American artist known for his large woven photo collages. Lê was born in Ha Tien, Vietnam, near the Cambodian border. As a child, he learned to weave from an aunt who used the weaving technique to make grass mats. In his work, Lê used strips of photographs to make tapestry-like pieces that wove together images of Vietnam’s history with depictions of Vietnam in Western media and Hollywood films such as “Apocalypse Now.”  Lê also worked in film and installation.
Growing up in Vietnam near the Cambodia border, Lê had traumatic memories of the Khmer Rouge Invasion. He and his family fled Vietnam in 1978 by boat, first spending a year in Thailand, then moving to the United States. Lê studied photography at UC Santa Barbara and went on to earn an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Lê eventually became a U.S. citizen, but never felt at home in the United States. He frequented Vietnam in the 1990s and eventually made his permanent home in Ho Chi Minh City.

Who am I and how am i feeling? (a lost content creator with a sad brain)
My name is Sami DeMonster and I’m a content creator focusing mostly on reviewing and promoting indie comics. I am passionate about horror, female lead, and queer media. I won’t put myself in a box here, though, I really am an all around nerd and artist. I have a background in painting, drawing, sculpting, photography, and would like to get into making short films since I am an editor and producer thanks to my social media career. Additionally, I’ve been getting more into writing recently thanks to Substack.
For the last few years, honestly, I have been trying to fight my brain fog and doom scrolling addiction— thanks ADHD (she said sarcastically). And most of all, like always, I want to create more. I want to make short films, expand on my youtube vlogs, write articles, write a comic, and…I don’t know. I’m trying to figure out what to do next.
I’ve been feeling stuck, lost, confused. The state of the world weighs heavy on me. It’s almost as if my brain doesn’t give me permission to be happy because of all the suffering and inevitably of a dull future. And you know what… that’s not fair to myself and I know a lot of people can relate. Because of these consuming thoughts, I often can’t get myself to do the things I want— like even getting out of bed.
So much has happened lately. My hometown (Los Angeles) was hit with destructive and devastating wildfires wiping out entire neighborhoods and displacing whole communities. I was so lucky my home wasn’t affected and everyone I love is safe— but I’m filled with grief and fear. My home will never be the same and my heart hurts for those who have lost everything. I’m currently in the Seattle area and I’m scared to go home to the toxic and cancerous air. What will come of the soil, the water? When can I see my family again?
Now Tiktok has been banned, and I know there are so many bigger problems to focus on but it still hurts. I started my career on TikTok, and now I (mostly) support myself making content online—I never thought that could even be possible for me. Now the platform where I had my largest following is gone and I’m feeling lost.
Even before the TikTok ban I was feeling like I hit a wall, like my spark when it came to making content was dimming. I felt like a failure considering I made significantly less money in the year 2024 compared to 2023. And I often wonder if I should just walk away from this dream forever. This was the closest I came to “success”. I made more money than the minimum wage jobs I had in the past. I felt and still do feel fulfilled when things are good in my career. I’m chasing the highs and trying to get through the lows… I have yet to figure out how to be sustainable when it comes to my relationship with social media.
I used to be a dreamer. I thought maybe I’d be an actor, maybe I’d write a film or web series, maybe I’d write and draw a comic, maybe people would pay me to take their photos. I had many dreams and still do. But I do put myself in a box and I don’t know how to get out. I’m also afraid that my box will be taken away completely and I’ll have to take steps back in my life— start over and be depressed working a shit paying job that gives me no fulfillment. Despite what so many people say, this is a real job. I negotiate contracts, I have a bank account just for my taxes, and I learned to produce content, light a set, animate graphics, and edit videos.
I thought I’d be farther by now, but at the same time I never believed I would be where I am now. I’m lost and scared and I wish I could run away and start over sometimes, but I am also grateful for what I have accomplished. I’m not sure what my future holds or what direction my career or art will go… but I can only take it one day at a time. And I hope when I wake up tomorrow I can find happiness in the small things. I know I have to be kind and patient with myself, so I will. So, who am I and how am I feeling? Well…Stay tuned.
Thanks for reading :-)

TWIN!!!! talk about chrisjess NOW!!!!! spread your agenda queen
TWIN!!!! DROPPING MY CHRISJESS HC’S!!!
jess & chris met as kids and grew up next to each other and since jess’s parents weren’t around often, she became close with chris’s mom & younger sister <3
jess was on the cheer team in high school & chris was in photography club with josh, who he dragged to almost every football game of the season to get some not so obvious pictures of jess for the yearbook
chris adopted a lot of jess’s mannerisms and sayings from hanging out with her for so long, which the group will never let him live down after he commented slay on one of jess’s ig posts
chris is jess’s personal photographer, and loves taking polaroids of her whenever they’re together. he keeps one of her in his wallet, and in his car <3
jess made “friendship” bracelets for them as kids, ones that neither have taken off in a decade. they eventually got so worn that jess re made them, but still kept the old ones.
jess never really liked her birthday growing up because her parents were almost never around, and when they were, didn’t make much of an effort to show her attention. but, as she got older, she spent her birthdays with chris and his family + the rest of the group.
chris got jess a gold locket for her birthday, with a photo of them inside and an inscription on the back that says J + C. she cried about it when she got home.
when they go off to college, the summer freshman year they get tattoos on their wrists of each others initials, ones they failed to hide from chris’s mother and eventually led to A LOT of teasing from the group (jess thinks it’s hilarious)
chris made jess a mixtape senior year as a graduation gift with all of their favorite songs & she listens to it almost daily
chris and jess went to prom together “as friends” and ended up getting drunk during a game of 7 minutes in heaven at josh’s after party that they kissed in front of everyone. which led to josh drunkenly marrying them later that night as a joke. chris changed jess’s contact name to mrs hartley despite claims of not remembering any of the nights events.
jess loves going to concerts in the summer, and chris tags along with her to carry her bag, shoes, and occasionally her, when she gets too tired to walk.
i definitely see them moving to a big city either like new york or seattle where jess is a model and chris is working a tech job. they live in a high rise loft with enough room for their dogs, and eventually move out to someplace more quiet when they’re older.

blue butterfly (a life is strange au)
blue butterfly is a story-based fic that features reader choice. the consequences of your collective choices will affect the past, present, and future. the poll, with a duration of one week, is below the cut. choose wisely...
masterlist || part one (you are here) || cw: homophobic language, character death
Wind whips against Steve’s face. He struggles through the storm.
Where am I? he thinks to himself. What’s happening?
A light cuts through his rain-soaked world, and Steve wheels on his heel. “The lighthouse!” he says aloud, droplets of rain seeping through his hair and clothes. “I just have to make it there!”
He ignores the feeling in his gut that is pulling him back to the town and stumbles forward, wiping the rain from his eyes periodically. He gets close to the base of the lighthouse, breaking out of all the trees, and finally sees the storm for the first time.
Holy fucking shit.
It can only be described as a cross between a hurricane and a tornado. It must be miles high, sweeping towards the small town of Hawkins below.
As Steve watches, the strong winds whisk a boat from the bay below and slam it into the top of the lighthouse. Debris crumbles down, heading straight for Steve’s head.
Steve sits forward, gasping for breath quietly.
A dream.
That’s all it was.
Realistic dream, horrifyingly so, but a dream nonetheless.
His professor, Dr. Brenner, is pacing around the classroom, talking animatedly with his hands. “Photography is subjective. I could frame any one of you in a dark room, watching you turn from the light to the dark.”
Vickie’s phone buzzes. Someone throws a ball of paper at that Byers kid, Jonathan.
Steve glances up at the clock, noticing it’s getting close to the end of class. He starts to subtly slip his Polaroid camera into the case, but accidentally hits the button, causing the flash to go off in his face. All eyes are drawn to him.
“I believe Steve has taken what you young people call a ‘selfie’”. Brenner says. “I hate that word. Sounds so unrefined for what is a classical photography technique. Mr. Harrington, can you tell me the process that gave birth to the first self-portraits?”
Steve doesn’t want to talk out of his ass, especially not in front of this room of pretentious art nerds. He’s only taking this class because Robin thought it’d be good for him, especially after he got kicked off the basketball team. One too many concussions is apparently where the coach drew the line.
He shakes his head, and Brenner tuts disappointedly. “If you had done the assigned reading last night, you’d know.”  Vickie raises her hand. ”Vickie?”
She answers it perfectly. “A French painter called Louis Daguerre created the process called the Daguerreotype that gave portraits a sharp reflective style, like a mirror.”
“Very good!” Dr. Brenner congratulates her. “Yes, precisely.”
The bell rings and everyone stands up to leave, Dr. Brenner’s voice rising above the clamor. “I’m expecting your photographs for the Everyday Hero contest by this Friday! Jeff, that means you. Jonathan, thanks for your submission. And yes, Steve, I see you pretending not to see me.”
Steve steps out into the hallway, sidling around groups of people. He passes by the notice board and takes a cursory glance at it, noting the new poster pinned up. There’s been a poster up for the missing Byers twins, William and Eleanor, for a couple months now, but now a new missing poster. Chrissy Cunningham.
He knows Chrissy.
Not well, of course, but she had gone to school around here back when Steve’s family lived here, before he’d moved away to Seattle. He hadn’t seen her since he transferred back to come to Blackwell, but he didn’t know she was missing.
Someone bumps into his shoulder roughly, and Steve disappears into the blissfully empty bathroom and takes a breath.
A movement catches his eye. A blue butterfly flutters in through the open window.
Robin’s always saying I should “capture the moment”, Steve thinks to himself, drawing his camera out of his bag. Fine. Captured.
He snaps a picture of the blue butterfly as it lands on the small lock of the shitty stall doors, opening and closing its wings lazily, as if putting on a show just for him.
The door slams open behind him and Steve reflexively dodges into the stall, muffling his breath with his hand. He peers through the crack in between the stall and the door. The butterfly flutters out the top of the stall and away.
The back of someone dressed in leather and chains, with long, curly hair, is to him. They’re facing someone who Steve unfortunately recognizes.
Billy Hargrove.
“You bitch!” he spits. “I can’t fuckin’ believe you!”
“What?” the mysterious boy taunts, gravelly and low, and Steve thinks he sounds familiar, even though he can’t put his finger on why. “Mad that I cut you off, Hargrove?”
Billy shoves the boy. “I’m paying you money, fag, why do you give a damn how I use the shit I bought?”
“Because I saw you giving it to kids, asshole!” he retorts right back. “And I got it on tape. So you can either fork over some cash and the remainder of the shit I sold you, or I take this to the cops.”
There’s a sharp breath, and the glint of something metal suddenly hits Steve’s eye.
Billy’s aiming a handgun at the boy.
“You are pissing me off.” he grunts, and Steve knows enough about guns to see that the safety’s off. “I bet no one would even miss you, queer!”
The boy backpedals, letting Billy eclipse Steve’s sliver of view. He’s clutching his hand to his mouth, feeling his nails dig sharp crescent moons into his cheek.
He can’t just sit here.
Steve slams the door open, hand outstretched, prepared to snarl at Billy to get the fuck away from him, but the sound startles him, and the gun goes off.
Right into the boy’s stomach.
The world turns black and white, silent save for a ringing in his ears.
Someone died.
Someone died and Steve was too cowardly to stop it.
And then he’s back in class.
Brenner’s talking. “Photography is subjective. I could frame any one of you in a dark room, watching you turn from the light to the dark.” he says.
I heard this lecture already. Steve thinks. Wait, no. Calm down, Harrington. This is just…serious deja vu.
Vickie’s phone buzzes, and Steve watches someone throw a paper ball at Jonathan. His hand slips and knocks his camera off his desk. It shatters, pieces scattering all over the ground.
Fuck. Robin bought him that.
Hesitantly, Steve reaches out his hand, and it’s like the world moves in reverse around him. His camera pieces levitate off the ground, fitting themselves back together, and the whole camera, now intact, settles itself back on his desk.
Holy shit.
Steve cannot process this. He watches the same things happen, Vickie’s phone and the paper ball, and stares at his hands.
Purposefully this time, he picks up his camera and snaps a picture of himself.
Brenner wheels on him. “I believe Steve has taken what you young people call a ‘selfie’. I hate that word. Sounds so unrefined for what is a classical photography technique. Mr. Harrington, can you tell me the process that gave birth to the first self-portraits?”
Steve sits up straighter, trying to remember what Vickie said last time. “Uh, the… Daguerre process?”
Brenner laughs. “Close! Vickie, would you like to help him out?”
“A French painter called Louis Daguerre created the process called the Daguerreotype that gave portraits a sharp reflective style, like a mirror.” she says.
Steve reaches out his hand again. The world warps and inverts. “Mr. Harrington,” Brenner says again, “can you tell me the process that gave birth to the first self-portraits?”
“A French painter called Louis Daguerre created the process called the Daguerreotype that gave portraits a sharp reflective style, like a mirror.” Steve parrots Vickie, and feels a swell of victory in his chest when Brenner beams.
He also feels a swell of nausea. He’s gone back in time, what, three times now? What’s happening?
The bell rings and Steve sweeps his stuff into his bag. He begins mouthing along to Brenner’s speech. “I’m expecting your photographs for the Everyday Hero contest by this Friday! Jeff, that means you. Jonathan, thanks for your submission.”
Steve dodges into the hallway. “And yes, Steve, I see you pretending not to see me.” he mutters as Brenner finishes his spiel.
Everything’s the same as Steve slips through the crowd. The missing posters, the conversation snippets, the bathroom being empty.
The butterfly’s gone, though. Steve doesn’t know what to make of that.
He folds himself into his hiding spot early, waiting.
Right on cue, the door slams open and Billy comes in with that mysterious boy.
They begin to argue again, and Steve leans forward. If this really isn’t a dream, and if Steve waits too long again, the boy will die. Again.
Steve can’t let that happen.

i mean. victoria is as much a victim of misogyny as her peers through her internalization of how women should behave; even though this is projected at kate (noticeably, victoria's few romantic prospects are ladders to a higher social status) and max to an extent, this is only because of victoria's learned self-hatred that can only be seen occasionally ("i always feel like i have to overcompensate", her crying at kate's suicide, "envy is a sin, vic" in her journal). her massive chase space poster is not to boast of her connection to the art world, but instead a reminder of how to behave and what to do in order to maintain her family's legacy (as much as nathan's picture of sean on his desk is a reminder of his own lineage). however, this is the only insight into victoria's family life we receive; despite her familial connection to an incredibly famous art gallery in seattle, she's only at blackwell to "become a photographer and get famous". nathan already has everything he wants, victoria is purposefully deprived of it and is forced to prove herself as good. her competitive and cruel behavior is the only way she knows how to be good (in comparison, nathan is cold but not calculating like victoria because he doesn't want the life his lineage forces him to lead). when she flirts with jefferson, it isn't in an effort to truly woo him; he's massively successful at what she desperately wants to do and knows that she can use herself as bait for success. max refers to her as "a jefferson groupie" upon seeing vic's collection of jefferson books but her knowledge of the history of photography cannot be understated. vic is initially depicted as a useless mean girl, but she is just desperate to prove herself as good enough; her internalization of how women should behave from her parents is projected on her classmates but it's how every authority figure talks to her otherwise 🫣

The Forgotten Seasons: Down the Pacific and Back
The project began back during 2020 Covid lockdown, when our expanding worlds as a young family shrunk and became isolated. Work disappeared and we found ways to be creative with what was within our immediate circles.
As part of an on-going series titled The Forgotten Seasons, I’m constantly training my eye on my family, not only as a father and partner, but as a photographer, seeking those moment of joy and elation, those times of overt emotion and strained tension, as well as the things of pure absolute beauty. The project began back during 2020 Covid lockdown, when our expanding worlds as a young family…
