Hey! I just wanted to talk about The Monkey real quick! Neon invited me to an early screening.Ā
No spoilers.Ā
I liked it, it was fun! It had the vibes of a classic pulpy horror movieā it knew when to be silly but also when to take itself seriously. Lots of fun humorous moments.Ā
This is based off a Stephen King short story by the same name and is by the same writer & director who did Longlegs, Osgood Perkins. Very creative gore, If you like the Final Destination movies, youāll enjoy The Monkey!
I love seeing Tatiana Maslany in any project! Theo James, who admittedly I have not seen too many of his movies, was fantastic in this role. Christian Convery, who plays young Theo James, is incredibly talented. I was overall so impressed with the performances.
This is a fun gory movie for people who love classic horror movies!

Physical media is essential & why I just made an emergency run to the bookstore to buy a copy of The Constitution
āKnowledge is power, stories are powerā own them so they canāt take them away from you.ā
If youāre online you have probably seen the discourse surrounding the disappearance of The Constitution of The United States Of America from The White Houseās official website. Who knows why this is, or if this is a permanent decision, but this is an abrupt reminder that physical media is so important, especially now more than ever.
First off, I would like to report that I found The Constitution on the National Archives government website. This is a great resource I just discovered, bookmark this:
https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/amendments-11-27#toc-amendment-xiv
The Constitution will never truly be deleted, but it behooves us to question why this page has been seemingly removed from a government website. Knowledge is power, and if this was a malicious decision, then they are trying to make access to important documents about our rights and our history less accessible.
Physical media has been proving to be more important and at risk in recent years. I began to see the importance of physical media when streaming services began to delete entire TV shows and movies off the face of the planet. We saw this with Willow on Disney+ and Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies on Paramount+, two shows with fantastic queer representation taken from us forever. I would have gladly purchased physical copies if they were available but they never were; so now we say goodbye to art that will never see the light of day again.
As an avid comic collector, I have always valued physical media and have spent the last five years building up my library full of both books and comic books. It was unfortunate to learn, a few years back, that when buying digital media through streaming sitesāyou donāt own what you buy. Youāre leasing instead of owning the movies, shows, books, and music you buy though companies like Amazon. This means, at any given point, your media can be taken away from you, but not if you own your media, physically. Knowledge is power, stories are powerā own them so they canāt take them away from you.
After learning about The Constitution of the United States of America disappearing from an accessible government website, I realized that now, more than ever, I needed to own a copy myself. I ran to a bookstore near me and purchased a pocket copy. Admittedly, Iām not as knowledgeable as Iād like to be when it comes to The Constitution and The Bill of Rights. I learned about them in history class growing up, but being atypical, school wasnāt always made for me and I didnāt absorb as much as I wish I had. With the state of the country, I see the importance of knowing and understanding these fundamental documents that dictate my rights.
In addition to my personal library of books and comic books, I plan on building up my collection of DVDs, Blu-Rays, and CDs. I recommend you do the same for your favorite pieces of media. A personal goal of mine is to limit consumption and not buy unnecessary things, but this falls in its own category. Knowledge is power, donāt let them take that away from you. Question things, own physical media, and while you're at it, get a library card.
*My goal is not to spread misinformationāThe White Houseās page containing The Constitution Of The United States of America being removed can be due to a number of reasons, there is no way to currently know if it was mal-intent or a simple technical error. Keep asking questions, practice critical thinking, and keep yourself educated. We got this.

Who am I and how am i feeling? (a lost content creator with a sad brain)
My name is Sami DeMonster and Iām a content creator focusing mostly on reviewing and promoting indie comics. I am passionate about horror, female lead, and queer media. I wonāt put myself in a box here, though, I really am an all around nerd and artist. I have a background in painting, drawing, sculpting, photography, and would like to get into making short films since I am an editor and producer thanks to my social media career. Additionally, Iāve been getting more into writing recently thanks to Substack.
For the last few years, honestly, I have been trying to fight my brain fog and doom scrolling addictionā thanks ADHD (she said sarcastically). And most of all, like always, I want to create more. I want to make short films, expand on my youtube vlogs, write articles, write a comic, andā¦I donāt know. Iām trying to figure out what to do next.
Iāve been feeling stuck, lost, confused. The state of the world weighs heavy on me. Itās almost as if my brain doesnāt give me permission to be happy because of all the suffering and inevitably of a dull future. And you know what⦠thatās not fair to myself and I know a lot of people can relate. Because of these consuming thoughts, I often canāt get myself to do the things I wantā like even getting out of bed.
So much has happened lately. My hometown (Los Angeles) was hit with destructive and devastating wildfires wiping out entire neighborhoods and displacing whole communities. I was so lucky my home wasnāt affected and everyone I love is safeā but Iām filled with grief and fear. My home will never be the same and my heart hurts for those who have lost everything. Iām currently in the Seattle area and Iām scared to go home to the toxic and cancerous air. What will come of the soil, the water? When can I see my family again?
Now Tiktok has been banned, and I know there are so many bigger problems to focus on but it still hurts. I started my career on TikTok, and now I (mostly) support myself making content onlineāI never thought that could even be possible for me. Now the platform where I had my largest following is gone and Iām feeling lost.
Even before the TikTok ban I was feeling like I hit a wall, like my spark when it came to making content was dimming. I felt like a failure considering I made significantly less money in the year 2024 compared to 2023. And I often wonder if I should just walk away from this dream forever. This was the closest I came to āsuccessā. I made more money than the minimum wage jobs I had in the past. I felt and still do feel fulfilled when things are good in my career. Iām chasing the highs and trying to get through the lows⦠I have yet to figure out how to be sustainable when it comes to my relationship with social media.
I used to be a dreamer. I thought maybe Iād be an actor, maybe Iād write a film or web series, maybe Iād write and draw a comic, maybe people would pay me to take their photos. I had many dreams and still do. But I do put myself in a box and I donāt know how to get out. Iām also afraid that my box will be taken away completely and Iāll have to take steps back in my lifeā start over and be depressed working a shit paying job that gives me no fulfillment. Despite what so many people say, this is a real job. I negotiate contracts, I have a bank account just for my taxes, and I learned to produce content, light a set, animate graphics, and edit videos.
I thought Iād be farther by now, but at the same time I never believed I would be where I am now. Iām lost and scared and I wish I could run away and start over sometimes, but I am also grateful for what I have accomplished. Iām not sure what my future holds or what direction my career or art will go⦠but I can only take it one day at a time. And I hope when I wake up tomorrow I can find happiness in the small things. I know I have to be kind and patient with myself, so I will. So, who am I and how am I feeling? Wellā¦Stay tuned.
Thanks for reading :-)

Jeff Lemireās Minor Arcana Issue 3 Overview/ Review (Video + Review)
Have you been reading MINOR ARCANA by Jeff Lemire (legendary comic creator)? Issue three dropped on Wednesday 11/13 and Iām absolutely loving the series. This is your sign to run to a local comic shop near you RIGHT NOW! Iāve partnered with BOOM! Studios to bring you weekly review videos, and this one is a series you do NOT want to miss out on!

Here is a quick overview + review video. This one is definitely one of my favorite ongoing series at the moment!
What if your mom was the storefront psychic in your small town that you spent your whole life running away from? Sheās a joke, you thought to yourself, a fraud. None of that stuff is even real.
But itās okay because youāve left that all behind, or so you thought. Now youāre back home to help your mom who is sick, and on top of that youāre going through a break up. Complicated parental relationships are never easy. Uprooting your life to come back home is isolating. This is not where you thought you would be in your mid-twenties.
But just as you thought things couldnāt get more complicated, you discover that youāre actually the one with physic abilities. These confusing powers manifest as weird dream walking-Esq episodes and physic interactions with the dead. Youāre transported somewhere you canāt explain.

As we follow Theresaās story in Minor Arcana by Jeff Lemire, we see her navigate so many complicated emotionsāHer rocky adult relationship with her mother, how she chooses to interact with and view all the townspeople, navigating a fresh breakup, and revisiting her old high school sweet heart just to be embraced with cold arms.
As we see Theresa commune with the dead and witness love separated by both time and death, we see her initially reject what she saw. Are our loved ones really frozen in time waiting for us on the other side? Fortunately, Theresa stepped up and we see an emotional conclusion to that subplot in issue 3. She spent her whole life running from this town, but these new found abilities might result in her embracing the community she has run from.
Jeff Lemireās water color-Esq art style really elevates the themes of this issue, it truly feels like we are dream walking with Theresa. I look forward to leaning more about her powers and where they come fromā and does her mom really have psychic abilities? As the motif IS tarot cards, we see each townsperson represents a different tarot card and each new issue will have a tarot card variant cover. I had the honor to interview Jeff Lemire at San Diego Comic Con this year, and he has put so much passion and research into this. Definitely check this video out!

Power Rangers Prime #1: A Reimagined Sci-Fi Power Ranger Story for New and Old Fans Alike
Melissa Flores just wrapped up the year-long event from BOOM! Studios, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Darkest Hour. Now sheās back, this time with artist Micheal YG and colorist Fabi Marques, to give us a brand-new take on Power Rangers. This is a great starting point for anybody new to Power Rangers, or for those who just want a great Sci-Fi story regardless of what fandom it belongs. Power Ranger Prime #1 hit comic shops this Wednesday and sold out before release, a second printing has been announced, so letās talk about it. I write this as somebody who doesnāt know much about Power Rangers, so this is a very fresh perspective and reaction.

In 1953, Earth faces a new threat: aliens. The Beast Brigade invades, and the Power Rangers step up to defend the planet, but their efforts fall short. Just when all seems lost, another alien species, the Eltar, step in to save humanity. Unfortunately, their rescue comes at a priceāthey are here to colonize Earth. They bring with them centuries of technological advancements, thus creating a sci-fi cyberpunk/solarpunk-esque backdrop in this story. Now, Earth is home to multiple alien species, all impacted differently by their colonizers, the Eltar.

But where have the Power Rangers gone? The Eltar presumably aim to control and be Earthās one and only savior. And the Power Rangers threaten that goal, so they are hunted down and criminalized. This brings us to Lauren, seemingly one of the last remaining Power Rangers, who is on the run and fighting for her life.
In this world, being a Power Ranger is a responsibility and power kept among a small group of people passed down for generations. Itās cultural and familial. Lauren comes from a long line of Power Rangers. She was born into this identity, an identity that now puts her life and autonomy at risk. Her family, community, and history have been ripped away from her. This legacy was never Laurenās choice, and now the governmental entity meant to protect humans is targeting her, making this one of many examples in this comic that explore themes relevant in our society today.

After barely escaping Eltar armed enforcement, Lauren finds herself clinging to life and seeking shelter in a dumpster. Fortunately for Lauren, a young college student named Mark, a refugee from another alien planet, finds her. In a moment of courage, he saves her, and their fates become intertwined. Mark and his roommate, both refugees, decide to protect and hide Lauren from the authorities. All three of these characters share experiences that come with being refugeesābeing displaced from their homes and communities. As the story progresses, we meet other students from Angel Grove University, including the son of a high-ranking Eltar general. Though introduced as a foil to Mark, his intentions and allegiance are unclear. It is implied he has a reason to protect Laurenās secret. Jun might be the unexpected fourth member of our new generation of heroes or follow in his motherās footsteps and be a threat to the legacy of the Power Rangers.

As a new Power Rangers reader, I had no trouble following the story. The issue does a great job of introducing the world, lore, and characters in a way thatās accessible and natural. Now, I canāt speak on past lore, but my sources tell me that the appearance of the VR Troopers is an exciting Easter egg for established Power Ranger fans.
The decision to make being a Power Ranger a birthright explores what it means for oneās identity to be criminalized. Much like the globalization of our world, we see multiple species and identities living together in one society, all impacted by the ruling class in different ways. Power Rangers Prime #1 is an action-packed and socially relevant reimagining of the Power Rangers franchise. This urban sci-fi world is visually brought to life with the art of Micheal YG and the colors of Fabi Marques, highlighting the importance of the small details that make the world feel real. This series has officially drawn me into the Power Rangers fandom.
Issue 1 of Power Rangers Prime #1 is available now in comic shops and online. Find a local comic shop near you! Locator below:

Erica Slaughter from Something is Killing the Childrenās Rebellion is Her Empathy and Compassion (4am Thoughts)
Something Is Killing the Children issue 0 has continued to explore Erica Slaughterās empathy and compassion. We really see how much she puts her heart and soul into every life she comes across, every kid she tries to save. These last few issues have been prequel episodic monster-of-the-week type stories and they have really fleshed out Erica so much more as a character.
I can see how much James Tynion IV and Werther DellāEdera love Erica, and I like that we have taken a little step back from these high stakes plot lines to focus on these contained character-exploration based issues.
Erica rebels against The Order ultimately by holding onto her compassion and empathy despite all the continuous trauma and death. Pushing through her loneliness and lack of support she still holds onto that part of herself. And thatās true strength.. being soft in a hard world.
The Order of St.George became the everything they wanted to destroy- monsters. And Erica Slaughterās humanity IS her rebellion.
And I love her so much.
