A thing of beauty I know, Chapter 1: I guess I'm not strong enough Right now
I don't know how Celine wanted this to go, I am going with a mystery thriller with a bit of romance focusing more on Wednesday this time. Wednesday stood alone in the shadowy corner of the Raven, her disdain for the event etched into the deep scowl on her face. Dances were loathsome affairs in her eyes—frivolous gatherings where people exchanged meaningless pleasantries and engaged in awkward physical contact. Yet, here she was, an outsider amid the rhythmic movement of her fellow students, all blissfully unaware of her disdain for their merriment. Dances weren't her thing – she hated them. Social events? Even worse. Last year a Hyde asked her out but no one dared ask her to the dance this year, She is extremely pleased about that.
She surveyed the room with her piercing gaze. It was a sea of masks and fancy dresses, with shadows dancing to the haunting music. She sneered at the people, fake smiles and forced laughter everywhere. For her, these events were just a show, a game of pretending that she had no interest in playing.
So why was she here embarrassing herself as she wasn't even asked by anyone? Why was she wasting so much peace she would've gotten in her room alone as Enid was here dancing with Ajax like a dog around her master?
Oh right, You.
A week had passed since Wednesday had severed the ties between herself and the one person who managed to crack through the layers of her steely exterior – you. She couldn't fathom why she felt the need to watch you from the shadows, especially now that she had chosen solitude over companionship. But here she was, a silent observer to the dance that echoed the haunting melody of her own inner conflict.
She watched you, the ache of separation gnawing at her insides. The swirl of the dance floor mirrored the whirlwind of emotions within her, and Wednesday found herself ensnared in a paradox of her own making. The stoic facade cracked, if only for a moment, as a wistful gaze lingered on the one person who had managed to break through her walls.
Why did she break things between you and her again? Well, she couldn't remember as she was too focused on stalking you. You were a vision of grace, a silhouette against the dance floor's eerie glow. Your smiles were a currency freely exchanged, yet Wednesday detected a depth beneath the facade – a lingering hurt that eluded the casual observer. As you spoke with others, your eyes betrayed a vulnerability, a subtle sorrow that Wednesday could discern even in the midst of the festivities. It seemed as though you were putting on a performance, a masquerade of happiness for the world to see. But Wednesday, with her keen intuition, saw through the charade. Each genuine laugh echoed with a faint undertone of melancholy, a silent cry that only she could discern. It was a hurt she knew intimately, having been the architect of your pain just a week prior. Though you spoke with animated gestures and your laughter rang through the air, you didn't spare Wednesday a single glance. It was a deliberate act of avoidance, a pointed decision to deny her the solace of your gaze. And yet, the hurt still clung to your eyes like a ghostly echo of the past. Wednesday's heart, shielded by layers of indifference, felt an unwelcome twinge. She had chosen this separation, but witnessing your facade crumble in private moments gnawed at the fringes of her carefully constructed apathy. As the night unfolded, the haunting melody of the Raven became the backdrop to a silent exchange of glances – a connection fractured but not entirely severed.
"A drink might help." Bianca, the ex-queen bee told her, "What?" Wednesday glared. "The tingling feeling in your stomach." "My stomach is completely fine. I do not eat junk like you." Wednesday scowled "Come on, Wednesday. Admit it. You miss her, don't you?" Wednesday's scowl deepened, and she shot Bianca a withering look. "Miss who?" Bianca raised an eyebrow. "Oh, come now. Don't play coy with me. I've seen the way you've been watching her all night." Wednesday huffed. "I do no such thing. I am merely observing the insipid revelry around me." "Observing, huh? That's a fancy way of saying 'pining from a distance.'" Bianca chuckled. "Pining is for weaklings," Wednesday retorted, her tone sharp. "I don't pine. I observe with detached disdain." "Detached disdain, my foot," Bianca said, nudging Wednesday playfully. "You're practically a gothic poet tonight. Edgar Allan Wednesday, watching her lost Lenore from the shadows." Wednesday shot her a glare. "Enough with the poetic nonsense you know very little of. I have no interest in romantic entanglements." Bianca grinned. "Oh, spare me. You're practically drowning in teenage angst. It's written all over your gloomy face. So, what's the plan, then? Continue lurking in the shadows like a brooding spectre, or are you going to actually do something about it?" Wednesday scowled again. "I don't need a plan. I'm perfectly content observing." Bianca rolled her eyes. "Observing is for scientists. You're not dissecting a frog; you're dealing with matters of the heart. Go, talk to her. Dance. Have a moment. You might even enjoy it." "I'd rather be dissecting a frog," Wednesday muttered Bianca grinned knowingly. "Trust me, Wednesday. Love is far more interesting than any frog dissection." Bianca said as she walked away. Wednesday watched Bianca's retreating figure with a mixture of irritation.
The haunting melody continued to play, enveloping her in its melancholic embrace. Love, an emotion Wednesday had scorned, now lingered in the air like an uninvited guest. As Wednesday observed you from the shadows, her internal conflict intensified. Love, a concept she dismissed as irrelevant, now seemed to be the force pulling at the seams of her carefully constructed apathy. Wednesday found herself caught between the desire to maintain her fortress and the yearning to bridge the distance that separated her from you. The haunting melody reached a crescendo, a symphony of emotions echoing through the dimly lit hall. Wednesday's eyes lingered on you, then the stranger by your side, Wednesday hadn't seen him, didn't know his name yet, perhaps a day of investigation should reveal all his secrets but that didn't stop her from scrutinizing him with an intensity that mirrored her usual disdain. Every aspect of him, from his features to his mannerisms, ignited a simmering rage within her. As you and your date moved through the dance floor, Wednesday's scowl deepened. The Raven, already an insufferable affair in her eyes, took on a new layer of complexity. The melody seemed to mock her as she grappled with the unexpected surge of emotions. As you and your date twirled gracefully on the dance floor, Wednesday found herself clenching her fists, the desire to intervene clawing at her insides. She scoffed at her own weakness, berating herself for even considering such a deviation from her usual detached demeanor. Yet, the more she observed, the more the impulse to disrupt your connection with the stranger intensified. She couldn't bear it any longer. The internal struggle reached a breaking point, and with a determined scowl, she pushed herself away from the shadows and strode purposefully towards the dance floor. Her steps were measured, her gaze fixed on you and the mysterious stranger. As she approached, Wednesday could feel the weight of her own actions pressing down on her, an uncomfortable mix of vulnerability and determination. She tapped the stranger on the shoulder, interrupting the dance with an air of nonchalance that belied the storm within. The stranger turned to face her, confusion etched on his features. Wednesday's scowl deepened as she spoke with an icy tone, "You'll excuse us. I need to borrow her for a moment." Without waiting for a response, Wednesday took your hand, pulling you away from the dance floor and the bewildered stranger. "What is this, Wednesday?" you questioned, a mix of surprise and anger in your eyes. "You could do better than that ludicrous idiot," Wednesday replied. "Really? If you really cared then you wouldn't have broken up with me." You rolled your eyes. Wednesday's scowl deepened at your response, a rare flicker of regret crossing her usually stoic features. "That's not the point," she retorted, her tone sharp. "I… I didn't expect to care, but seeing you with someone else—someone beneath your standards—it's insufferable." You raised an eyebrow, a mix of confusion and disbelief in your expression. "And why do you care, Wednesday? You made it clear you wanted solitude, not me." Wednesday's jaw tensed, her grip on your hand tightening almost imperceptibly. "Solitude doesn't mean I enjoy watching you make questionable choices. You deserve better than a dance with that… buffoon." "I don't understand you, Wednesday," you sighed "Last night you came to me in the middle of the night acting all weird and then ignoring me in the morning, and now again getting in my life. What the hell do you even want Wednesday?" Now Wednesday herself was confused, what were you talking about? She didn't come yesterday, she was too busy thinking about… "Hello? Earth to Wednesday." She didn't reply. "Ugh, you know what? I don't have time to be played by you anymore, Enjoy your solitude Wednesday!" You said angrily as you freed your hand from her grip before storming out of the party, leaving Wednesday standing there who didn't focus on your departure as now she had another mystery to solve. Dandy's World Easter Update Concept!!!
Hi so way back in February me and a few friends got together to make a concept for what a Dandy's World Easter Event would be like, because we didn't think one would happen-at least not this year-but as we can see that didn't end up being true. so in light of the new easter event right around the corner, I speedran making 'official' art for the four characters we made together to get out before it drops!
Let me introduce you to the cast!
Things will be brief and explained directly in a linear format. (we are not affiliated with BlushCrunch Studio, any possible similarities at any point are entirely coincidence!)
Bonbon the Chocolate Rabbit! [Main Character]
Tumblr media
Everyone give a warm welcome (or maybe not, he might melt!) to Bonbon! Our Main Character!
He's your typical depiction of the easter bunny, he's happy go lucky, he's kind, he's a small bit mischievous, but under that mask he is on an ever present downward spiral! Imagine if you were a holiday toon and the date of your holiday changed every year! You might be a bit upset too! He holds a dislike for other holiday toons because of it, envying their 'stability'. Maybe someday you'll get a single date Bonbon, maybe some day. But for now, best keep the kids happy with your chocolate eggs!
Trinket: Chocolate Rabbits Foot Gives a random stat increase upon picking up an item for 5 seconds. Effect cannot stack. (Includes Tapes and Capsules.)
Stats: 🖤🤍🤍 Skill Check ⭐️⭐️ Movement Speed ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stamina ⭐️⭐️ Stealth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Extraction speed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Abilities:
[Active Ability] Basket Surprise! In 3 seperate bursts, this Toon can give a targeted Toon any random item. Cooldown of 100 seconds. (cooldown subject to change)
[Passive Ability] Found Something! For every item this Toon picks up, Active Ability cooldown is reduced by 5%, capping at 50%. Refreshes every floor.
Twisted: “One of the Holiday Main Characters of Dandy’s World. Fed up with the inconsistencies surrounding his being this Twisted has hopped into a maddening spiral. He will hide a little surprise for unsuspecting Toons and go for the kill when it is found.”
He puts fake event currency around the map! And it airhorns when you pick it up! And he's like Vee in that instance! Haha! I'm not sorry to the people who constantly pick up Rodger.

Lassie the Hot Cross Bun! [Rare]
Tumblr media
Lets continue on with our tunnel vision queen, Lassie! Our Rare picnic host!
“Spring is Lassie’s favourite season! If there’s one thing she knows, it’s how to have fun during it! She’s always up for an egg hunt, and she never forgets to pack some fun treats to cool down afterwards with a nice picnic.”
Trinket: Picnic Basket After being spotted by a Twisted, speed increases by 15% for 8 seconds. Can be activated every 100 seconds.
Stats: 🤍🤍🤍 Skill Check ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Movement Speed ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stamina ⭐️⭐️ Stealth ⭐️ Extraction speed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ability:
[Active Ability] Found you! While extracting, this Toon can toss a handful of flowers into the air, marking the locations of all Twisteds within a certain radius. This effect stops when she stops extracting. Cooldown of 80.
Twisted: "This twisted wanders blindly in search for something she can no longer hold… Although awareness has never been her strong suit, as a Twisted Lassie has developed other means of search to make up for her lost sight. The buzz of faulty machines never escapes her, and when startled she emits clouds of ichor pollen, alerting any Twisteds in her path. Thankfully, these clouds don’t seem to be toxic to Toons."
Surprise! A blind Twisted! A silly, silly gal with an abnormally wide detection radius for skill check failures, plus the ability to aggro surrounding Twisteds when chasing, causing them to follow her! This includes running to skill check fails! Isn't that fun? Haha.

Eggbert the Easter Egg! [Uncommon]
Tumblr media
Up next is a Toon of few words, Eggbert! Our Uncommon egg of surprises!
"A toon of few words, one who struggles to come out of his shell, Eggbert is a beautifully painted easter egg. Though he may come off as closed off, he’s trying his hardest to show the world how great he can be!"
Trinket: Easter Eggs Increases Extraction Speed depending on the number of incomplete machines on the floor.
Stats: 🤍🤍🤍 Skill Check ⭐️⭐ Movement Speed ⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Stamina ⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Stealth ⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Extraction speed ⭐️
Ability:
[Active Ability] Egg on This Toon encourages himself to do his best, increasing his own Extraction Speed and Skill Check chance.
Twisted: "Simply left to wander, Eggbert is unable to hear or see a single thing. Though, it is ill-advised to get so close, as he is still a threat even with all that holds him back."
LITTLE DID THEY EXPECT: THE SECOND BLIND TWISTED!!! it wasn't intentional to make them both blind but, yknow, that happened! He just wanders around on his pathfinding until a Toon potentially runs into him. You'd think that makes him easy to deal with but imagine him in the doorway of a room with one exit... can't chase him out can't chase him in... just gotta wait or tank it... heh.

Pipa the Marshmallow Chick! [Common]
Tumblr media
And Finally! Say hi hello welcome to our lovely little Chick, Pipa! Our Common Marshmallow!
"Pipa is a true softy! She is a chicken of a few words but she has a big heart, giving her friends gifts whenever she can. Painted eggs she made are her favorite to give!"
Trinket: Marshmallow Chicks Highlights Easter Eggs in your vicinity every 10 seconds during matches, making them easier to spot during events.
Stats: 🤍🤍🤍 Skill Check ⭐️⭐⭐ Movement Speed ⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Stamina ⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Stealth ⭐️⭐⭐ Extraction speed ⭐️
Ability:
[Active Ability] Squish This Toon can squish her body to boost her stealth by 40% for 15 seconds. Has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
Twisted: "One of the most common Twisteds you'll encounter during Easter. Overcome by Ichor, this Twisted has the innate urge to chase others down. Thankfully, it appears that this Twisted doesn't have any abilities to aid her."
Nothin interesting here, just your classic Common Twisted!

Last month, former president and convicted felon Donald Trump announced that his campaign would accept donations in cryptocurrency. In the weeks that followed, the cybercrime detection firm Netcraft found dozens of scam websites seeking to target Trump supporters and swindle them out of their crypto, according to a report shared exclusively with WIRED.
Netcraft found that in the days leading up to the announcement, scammers registered domains with common misspellings, hoping to capture supporters intending to access donaldjtrump.com. One domain registered to donalbjtrump.com was a near perfect replica of the actual Trump campaign website. And while the Trump campaign accepts donations via Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange, some of the scam websites instead appear to be using portals meant to look like Coingate, a blockchain and crypto payment processor.
“As a victim, the fact that the real campaign is using Coinbase payments rather than direct cryptocurrencies” wouldn’t be very obvious, says Rob Duncan, head of research at Netcraft. “The way it's been advertised is ‘Donald Trump's taking cryptocurrency donations,’ when actually that's quite it's a bit more subtle.”
A second surge of fake websites appeared immediately after Trump’s May 30 felony conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records to pay off the porn star Stormy Daniels. In the hours after his conviction, the campaign raised more than $34 million in donations. Cybercriminals seemed to anticipate this interest, and were ready to capitalize on the donations pouring into the Trump campaign in the wake of the verdict.
“Criminals like to use events like this, to base their scams on topical events, things that people are interested in, where people are more likely to click on links,” says Duncan. In the wake of the October 7 attacks and subsequent conflict in Palestine, Duncan says Netcraft identified several donation scams, targeting people on both sides of the conflict.
“They're interested in getting cryptocurrency from anybody. And they're not bothered about which political persuasion they might have,” says Duncan.
Duncan adds that through checking the blockchain, none of the scams seem to be successful yet, but he suspects that may be because they are relatively new and may not yet be active.
The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
Cryptocurrencies can be particularly useful for criminals because they are largely unregulated and don’t have the same constraints that traditional financial institutions do. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s 2023 Internet Crime Report, crypto investment scams cost people some $3.94 billion. “Crypto is obviously a very good mechanism for criminals to use,” says Duncan. “There's no way to reverse payments; once the money's in the criminal's wallet, it's gone.”
Trump’s recent support of crypto is an about-face from his presidency. In 2019, Trump said he was “not a fan” of cryptocurrencies in a series of posts on X, then Twitter. “We have only one real currency in the USA … It is called the United States Dollar!” he posted at the time.
But now, the former president is courting the crypto space. Before his campaign’s announcement in May, Politico reported that Trump held a meeting at Mar-a-Lago with crypto traders where he apparently told them a Trump administration would not oversee the same regulatory scrutiny on crypto that the Democratic Party has sought. As the crypto industry has begun amassing money to attack candidates who favor more regulation of the space, however, some Democrats have backed away from a more hard-line stance.
In December, several leaders in the crypto space launched three political action committees (PACs) aimed at backing candidates with policies friendly to the digital asset industry. David Bailey, CEO of BTC Inc., told CNBC that the crypto industry was committed to raising “$100 million and turning out more than 5 million voters for the Trump reelection effort.”
It is unclear whether the Biden campaign will also begin accepting donations in cryptocurrency, and Netcraft said it has not seen similar scam activity targeting Biden supporters.
Gina Chow, emerging threat specialist at Netcraft, tells WIRED that although the company has found impersonations of Biden in the past, "similar crypto-themed campaigns, like those targeting the Trump campaign, have not yet been identified in our research. As the Biden campaign extends its capacity to accept crypto, it is likely that it will experience similar threats.”

3 - 30 Get Off the No-Die List
Tumblr media
uhh this is bookworm russet, she only appears in one episode I think
She is designed by Fletch! I just drew the artwork bc she didn't want to
She doesn't actually know Bookie at all
DON'T READ THE EPISODES WITHOUT READING THE BOOKS!!
OLIVE: I KNOW YOU’RE THERE DETECTIVES… COME OUT!!
Logico and Irratino are hiding in the sewer. The Tekkies walk right overtop of them, but there’s still no time to lose.
LOGICO: I have an idea. We should leave the country.  IRRATINO: Where should we go? Drakonia is likely still in ruins - not to mention not even remotely safe. LOGICO: No, no… there HAS to be a place. A quiet place. A place where I don’t have to put up with daily murder, at least just for a while. There must be a place in Elsewhere. Come on, let’s get to the airport.
There, they meet up with some usual friends, along with Lemon for some reason.
LOGICO: I thought you were working at TekCo. LEMON: They don’t need me… they don’t care about ethics anyway. I can’t stand another minute working for that horrible Indigo.
Logico doesn’t know much about Indigo, but the things he’s been hearing are disturbing. Could he really be THAT bad?
IRRATINO: Logico, guess what? LOGICO: Don’t fucking say chicken butt. IRRATINO: Dude! No! Look!
The pilot is ‘indisposed’.
LOGICO: I guess we just can’t have nice things.
The other suspects, who are likely hanging around at the airport just to find someone to murder, are Mx. Tangerine and Captain Slate. And Lemon is replacing a currency exchange with a crypto ATM.
LOGICO: Um, hello? LEMON: I didn’t say I was going to stop working for TekCo… I just said I didn’t like it.
Captain Slate is sitting at the baggage claim, on the conveyor belt. She is about to go through the tunnel, but is too big.
LOGICO: Statement? SLATE: What do you want me to say? I was at the baggage claim.
Tangerine is busy tap-dancing.
TANGERINE: I was on the runway.
Logico inspects a map he found on the floor. It appears to be a treasure map, but he knows there’s something wrong - the place it leads to is a dark alley. This is a fake map meant to trick someone into a violent death - but who made it? He suspects Lemon, the ethicist.
LEMON: Why would you think I’d make something like this? LOGICO: Because you’re too nice to be mentally stable. LEMON: But… why would I make something like this? I have no enemies! LOGICO: CEO Indigo?
Lemon blushes in embarrassment and takes the map back. Logico is starting to become REALLY concerned with how much Lemon wants to kill Indigo.
Irratino checks on Slate. She continues to stop up the conveyor belt until it starts smoking.
IRRATINO: Are you doing alright? SLATE: Fine…
Tino brings out some marot cards, and miraculously, they happen to be depicting Slate and the baggage claim. Does this mean she’s telling the truth?
SLATE: It doesn’t matter what it takes, as long as someone will believe me for once in my fucking life.
Irratino’s not sure how to feel about how intense this is getting. But Logico places the blame on Tangerine, who has done nothing since they got here.
LOGICO: You killed the pilot and delayed another flight for who knows how long! TANGERINE: I thought he was on fire. LOGICO: How do you THINK someone’s on fire? And what good will WHACKING HIM with the fire extinguisher do? TANGERINE: …I don’t fuckin’ know.
They shrug and leave, glowing with apathy. Logico growls and faceplants, flailing. Irratino pats him with a solemn face.
The end!
So apparently one basic drawing on my sideblog of the pac-man ghosts has gotten like exponentially more notes than anything murdle-related I've made, which like
It's nice to be appreciated, that's the first time I've gotten attention on a drawing... I just wish people liked my actual creative work....
I get why they don't but I can dream

The power of Goat Lord compels you!
See you next time murdlers!

Knight of Coins (Paladin Archetype)
Tumblr media
(art by tomi-sa on DeviantArt)
Currency is the lifeblood of civilization, such is the belief of many, and they have a point. Heck, even without coinage or bills, historically speaking certain otherwise light goods were indeed used as trade goods as well as a method of payment even though they also had a use of their own, such as spices.
With that in mind, it makes sense that the gods of community and civilization would have their own holy warriors dedicated to protecting fair and honest commerce, would it not?
The Knights of Coins, as they are known, are most common among the worship of Abadar, the most major god of civilization in the Inner Sea Region. However, while Abadar himself is lawful neutral, these paladins remain lawful good.
This is significant because while Abadar as a deity promotes wealth to help all, his temples offering lessons on economics for free, in practice his clergy is allowed to make decisions which while leading to prosperity, may not always evenly affect the whole, especially when factoring in the local government and society. However, paladins will always work towards the common good, and this reflects in the gifts they receive and how they use them to bring prosperity to others.
Indeed, as we’ll soon see, these holy warriors have a unique way to aid others when not acting to defend that prosperity in more martial ways.
As one might expect, these warriors are more skilled than their counterparts, especially in the areas of material value, local customs, perception, and of the usage of magical items outside of their mystical discipline. What’s more, rather than sensing evil, paladins can focus on objects to determine if they are magical, and potentially identify them as well, making them useful for recognizing fakes and forgeries, as well as cursed items.
However, the ability that truly sets them apart is their blessings. Unlike other paladins who add mercies to their healing touch to remove harmful effect, these holy knights instead can convert the blessing of their touch into various forms of blessing, most of which are useful in economic situations, but some can be useful on the battlefield, lasting a good long while as well. The blessing they can learn include better luck in securing good prices for sold goods, a better sense of the value of goods and when others are trying to dupe them, heightened perception and greater grip on their possessions to ward against thievery, grace when performing a money-making skill, the ability to sense the location of specific objects, a blessing to speed up the flow and fluidity of wealth in a community to reduce the effect of large purchases by the blessed, and finally, improving their luck in finding rare items for sale.
As you can see, while a few of these effects do have some use in combat against thieves and sneaks, these blessings are most useful for downtime when the party as returned to town, not just to aid the party in selling their loot and purchasing new gear, but also sowing goodwill in the community by using those blessings among the lower class of the community to help improve their lives. Perhaps the biggest benefit the paladin gets out of the class directly is the improved skill ranks and the ability to detect and identify magic items with relative ease. No matter how you build them, having UMD as a class skill can mean your paladin can sometimes surprise foes with a magic item they normally would struggle to use, so keep that in mind.
I said before that it’s the fact that these are paladins, specifically paladins, of gods of commerce that really elevates this archetype, because though they may be followers of gods that value economics, their benevolent nature means that they don’t necessarily prioritize that wealth over the people who deserve to share in it. Sure, they may prevent a theft, but they’ll also probably take the thief aside and see what they can do to change their circumstances so that stealing isn’t the only option they feel they have anymore. Prosperity while keeping one’s heart and soul in the community. Their biggest enemies are those that seek to disrupt that prosperity for all, not just those that attack it from without, but those that corrupt it from within by hoarding wealth and denying it to others.
With it’s deceptively deep bogs, fog banks, and predatory plants like the venomous mire nettles, “trade route” is the furthest idea that anyone would associate with Ranslar’s Folly, but with the help of guides and the holy guardians of the Order of Commonwealth, there are those that make the trek, protected by divine blessing and natural know-how.
Seeing how trade had brought prosperity to his people, Jigax, a young iruxi man, eagerly joined the clergy of the Scale-Bearer, and was eager to see what sort of utopia these foriegners had constructed in their own lands. However, when he arrived, the lizardfolk found he was treated like an uplifted savage, and the wealthy there hoarded their profits to leave the common folk in poverty. He could have abandoned these beliefs, writing them off as the hypocritical lies and delusions of wicked people, but Jigax stuck with it, and vowed to change this society, by force if necessary, before it could corrupt his people with indifference and casual cruelty.
It began with the decree that the volunteered services of the paladins of the Crop-Bringer would no longer be required in the market square, followed by the banning of the faith as a new royal “police” took their place, enforcing more and more sanctions on the trade throughout the entire city. It has become abundantly clear that the new king has a very different idea of prosperity.

In an altercation with the Mafia during their stay in a faraway country, Atsushi takes a gunshot to the leg. Akutagawa has to pull out the bullet before lead poisoning can set in. Unfortunately, the only anesthetic Atsushi has is two bottles of vodka and the fear of pain. ❧ Word Count: 2,529 ❧ Cross-posted from Archive of Our Own ❧ Original post date: 14 October 2023

Two bottles of vodka rest in the small area around Atsushi’s hotel bed. One gradually empties down Atsushi’s throat, and the other remains if, for some ungodly reason, the forty percent alcohol content isn’t enough to get him blackout drunk. He already wants to throw up — liquor has never settled particularly well in his stomach. He continues to guzzle vodka anyway because the pulsing pain in his leg is worse than the hangover he will undoubtedly have.
Several bottles of water are waiting for him in the refrigerator, but he doesn’t think he’ll need or want them. Akutagawa patiently waits in the other bed for the alcohol to settle in Atsushi’s system. His handgun waits an inch from his hands, the safety turned off and loaded with fresh bullets. Dirt, blood, and grime have already stained the white sheets' top layer of both their beds, more so Atsushi’s than Akutagawa's. Atsushi doesn’t have the privilege of showering just yet.
“This tastes horrible. You know I hate vodka,” Atsushi groans, setting the little-over-halfway-finished bottle by his waist. He shakily wipes away the liquid remnants from his lips.
“It’s the highest alcohol content they have here,” Akutagawa says nonchalantly, but the stiff set of his jaw and tensed shoulders betray his concern. “If you hate it so much, try not to get shot next time.”
It nearly takes more restraint than he has to not launch the other full bottle directly at Akutagawa’s head. The only reason he doesn’t is because he knows they need to be careful about how much money they are spending. They still had large amounts of several different currencies saved, but money can be burned just as easily as it can be stolen. A freak accident could force them to have to foot the uninsured expenses of a real hospital visit, or they could be cornered and need to hop several countries at once. Fake IDs, weapons, bribes, and plane tickets don’t come cheap.
In any case, the vodka is a luxury item. He can’t bring himself to throw it away so easily.
“I hope it's you next time,” Atsushi settles for. Unfortunately, his words contain none of the bite he intended.
“There better not be a next time,” Akutagawa replies with a thin layer of firmness that only comes from anxiety. He lays an idle finger on the handle of his gun.
His voice is sobering enough for Atsushi to knock back a couple more gulps. It’s heavy and uncomfortable and tastes like cough medicine. A tell-tale buzz settles in his head and his vision crosses uncontrollably. He inclines his chin at Akutagawa. “I’m starting to feel it. We should get started now.”
The pain in his thigh has come to a stagnant throb since he’s been lying on the bed. It’s better than it was before, but that’s not necessarily saying much when before was running on a fresh bullet wound, then further walking on it bandaged and bleeding. They don’t have any painkillers on them unfortunately, and Akutagawa doesn’t want to risk leaving the hotel room long enough to pick up a new bottle from the drugstore.
His only relief is vodka of all drinks. Before, he only had a marginal distaste for it. Now it quickly climbs to his least favorite beverage of all time. He won’t ever be able to look at a bottle again without remembering painful nights that only consisted of him, Akutagawa, vodka, and whatever shelter they managed to find.
Akutagawa washes his hands at the sink before pulling out the only supplies they have for an impromptu surgery: a sewing needle, stitches, scissors, and a fresh roll of gauze. A set of clothes waits at the side of his bed for when all is done and he needs to change out of his blood-stained pants and shirt.
After placing all of their equipment on the right side of the bed, Akutagawa straddles Atsushi’s calves. He hesitates when he reaches for the hastily wound bandage. It’s only because Atsushi’s hand is in the way, and it's trembling. It isn’t a slight shake, either — it's like an earthquake has erupted in his bones.
Atsushi knows that his tremors and rapid heartbeat aren’t from the alcohol alone. He’s terrified. Pain scares him unlike any beast known to man. As an orphan who never knew a kind hand, and as a young adult on the run from a deadly mafia organization, one would think he would’ve learned to get over it. Somehow, he hasn’t, and knowing that he’s about to experience the worst pain in his entire life is leaving him in shambles.
“Do you still want more time to get drunk?” Akutagawa asks. His gray eyes narrow with worry. He doesn’t push for an answer when Atsushi doesn’t answer immediately. Akutagawa knows his problem with pain, just as Atsushi knows Akutagawa’s problem with dogs. They know the seriousness in which to take the matter; it comes with the territory of being as unnaturally close as they are.
A year and a half on the run from Yokohama’s Port Mafia does that to a couple.
Slowly, Atsushi shakes his head. “No. Just get it over with,” he grits out, forcing his hand to grip the comforter instead. He takes another swig of vodka and prays he’ll be in a drunken stupor before it's over.
Akutagawa doesn’t waste a second longer and begins peeling the bandage off of Atsushi’s thigh. His wound throbs from the release of pressure, though it’s no longer bleeding. It’s a good thing, he supposes, that he didn’t lose any more blood than he did. If they had to go register in a hospital so close to where they attacked, they surely would’ve been cornered and killed. He breathes deeply and tries to reconcile his living status with the pain he faces. It doesn’t work all that well, but the key word is try.
Akutagawa discards the soiled bandage to the small, carpeted space between their beds. Blood will undoubtedly seep into it and be a hassle to get out. Atsushi feels a twinge of guilt for the poor roomkeepers who are going to have to clean the mess that they definitely aren’t going to fix themselves. The most they’ll end up doing is trashing the bad bandages and clothes, but the rest will be left to strangers.
His attention returns to his thigh as he feels cold metal against his skin. His boyfriend cuts away the fabric of his pants with their pair singular pair of scissors. Atsushi takes a deep breath as his skin turns into pop rocks and his mouth runs dry of saliva. The worst part of it all is that he can feel phantom pains, imagined from his restless mind in preparation for what will come next.
He takes one small sip of vodka, the bottle now nearly empty. It’s all he can manage since it threatens to come back up his throat in a violent wave of nausea. He wishes he could take in more. The ratchet taste is becoming neutral and faded on his dulling tongue, and he really wants to not feel the next part.
Akutagawa doesn’t give him any more time to imagine the pain, because as soon as he sets the scissors down, his fingers plunge straight into the entry wound. It’s all Atsushi can do to bite back his scream. They chose a hotel for optimal cleanliness and proper sleep, but they sacrificed privacy. If he lets out a loud noise, people will hear and report the disturbance to the front desk. Worse yet, they could come knocking on the door to investigate the noise themselves.
So he doesn’t scream, but he does curse out the names of all vodka brands. None of his senses have dulled enough to counteract this level of pain. Molten lava covers his entire leg in a thick coat of burning fire. Akutagawa’s untrimmed nails cut through his flesh and veins as he roots for the bullet lodged inside, and it feels like he’s getting slashed with a twelve-inch blade.
It’s always as bad as he fears. Worse, even. He chugs the remaining bit of the vodka, and the bottle trembles in his white-knuckled grip on its neck. Akutagawa’s fingers dig deeper into the wound, and it takes all that he has to not thrash or yell. He settles for heavy gasps and low whines that, if heard, are much easier to explain away. His vision blurs with both tears and the effect of an entire bottle’s worth of alcohol.
It holds sixteen shots of vodka, and it takes approximately eight for him to get drunk. He consumed the whole thing in a little less than an hour.
And yet, he can still feel it as Akutagawa accidentally pushes the bullet deeper into his thigh in his attempt to grab it. Vodka isn’t worth shit, he thinks hazily as his back arches against the heavy weight on his legs and his death grip on the comforter. His head hits the headboard with a heavy thunk.
He does not scream.
But he does cry.
His tears come down in uncontrollable waves as Akutagawa pulls out the bullet in quite possibly the slowest manner he can muster. Somewhere behind the rapidly growing veil of intoxication, Atsushi recognizes the importance of being meticulous and careful. But it's his thigh that's now actively gushing blood all over his pants and sheets , and Akutagawa takes his precious time examining the bullet. It’s covered in thick crimson liquid and bits of flesh that it couldn’t bear to part with.
Underneath the blood is a gold shell that managed to remain intact despite his persistent movement. He couldn’t stay off of his leg for long until they made it to their getaway car, and even then he still had to make it to the hotel room without making it too obvious that he’d been shot. He guesses he got lucky that the bullet didn’t fracture.
Not that it would make his situation much different. Akutagawa would still have to pilfer through his thigh to dig out the shards to prevent lead poisoning, and Atsushi would just have to take it even though pain is his worst enemy.
Such is life when you steal nine hundred million yen from the Port Mafia and run away with one of their higher-ranking members. Atsushi had it coming.
Akutagawa puts the bullet on the nightstand rather than tossing it on the bloody pile of bandages on the floor. The next step — God, there’s more — is the stitches. Atsushi hates getting stitches. Each puncture in his tender flesh always hurts more than the last, and at this point, his wound has gotten significantly larger than it had been before due to the extraction process so the whole ordeal is going to last even longer than usual.
Great. Just great.
Perhaps the vodka is setting in after all.
His boyfriend ties one end of the suture around the bent needle, and he pinches Atsushi’s wound so tight it forces an unsolicited sob from the back of his throat. For the first time since the operation started, Akutagawa spares one glance up at Atsushi’s face. He has a hand over his mouth, biting into it to both redirect his focus on the pain and muffle his cries.
Their gazes meet, and Akutagawa mumbles something Atsushi can’t quite catch over the sound of his own whines. His expression is drawn into remorse, though, so it isn’t hard for his muddled brain to accurately guess what he said.
The feel of sutures going through his pulsing flesh and sensitive skin is unlike anything else, therefor hard to forget and easy to recognize. It’s exactly how one would imagine a snake crawling inside their intestines, or an ant traversing their veins. When the suture is tightened to pull the skin together, it feels then like the animal has clamped their sharp little teeth over wherever they are in the body.
Atsushi loses count of the number of times his skin pulls quickly. He blames it in part on his inebriation and another on not being able to see the stitches themselves all that quickly from his position. Akutagawa’s hair covers most of Atsushi’s line of sight.
The scissors snip off the end of the suture line, leaving the only part left to change out of his pants, clean off the blood and gore on his leg as best as they can, and bind the wound back with gauze. When Akutagawa looks at him, Atsushi can already tell what the question at his lips will be.
“I can’t stand. In too much pain and definitely too drunk,” he says, and it allows an exorbitant amount of salty tears into his mouth. Akutagawa gives him a once-over with a kind of scrutinizing look, but he moves on without complaint.
Getting his pants off is an unnecessarily difficult process that includes a lot more pain than Atsushi would have wanted. Akutagawa wets a handcloth with hot water and scrubs off the gore on his thigh in and around the wound. It’s not bleeding anymore, and of course that’s when Atsushi finally loses feeling in all his limbs and muscles. After the gauze has already been wrapped around his leg — after everything is over.
Akutagawa sits beside Atsushi, stoking his fingers gently through white hair. He detangles the knots he comes across with ease. They’ve done this a hundred times before, where one is more tired or injured from the day's events and the other holds him until he’s able to rest. It’s familiar; warming and sickening at the same time. It means they have each other, but it also means their nightmare isn’t over.
It’ll be over in six months, he reminds himself. Six months until their side of the agreement with ex-Port Mafia executive and successful defector, Dazai Osamu, is completed.
If you can survive two years on the run from the Port Mafia unaided, my friends and I will lend you our protection.
Those were the only conditions. Akutagawa and Atsushi’s contact has been limited to only text messages by Dazai at every important interval. The first text had been when they survived for one month. The next for six, the one after for a year.
Just yesterday, their eighteen-month celebratory text came in. It’s their only lifeline, their only reason to continue this uphill fight against a violent organization that is very good at doing one thing: silencing defectors.
If Dazai could make it as one man, they could certainly make it as two.
Atsushi’s thoughts slow and Akutagawa’s gentle petting becomes a distant memory. His last thoughts are spent wondering if his boyfriend used to do this with his sister and if they comforted each other after dangerous missions that left them tattered and beaten. He wonders which part of him is motivated by escaping the same fate as his dead sister and what is motivated by exacting revenge on those who have hurt his loved ones.
He’ll have to ask later when he isn’t drunk off his mind on decidedly the worst type of liquor in existence.

Choices!Series Part One: Diamonds Vostanik Sabatino x Reader
Tumblr media
Tagging: @kmc1989 @novamariestark @words-and-seeds @thiashazzywriting @whateversomethingbruh
Tumblr media
It’s the undercover op that makes Sabatino ask the question. He’s back in LA on the trail of a stolen painting that’s being used as currency in exchange for nukes. It ties into a terrorist organisation he’s been hunting in Syria. NCIS have been working the case from the other end. It seems these days that your working lives seem to converge more often than not. He isn’t complaining, it means that he can be around a little more.
It becomes a joint op, the painting is being sold as part of an underground auction, you have connections to that world through an alias way back. The cover story you’d used to explain getting out of the game was that you’d gotten married, moved to New York.
It’s realistic enough. Sabatino has the accent and the attitude to pull it off. At heart he’s still a boy from Yonkers. The perfect man to play your husband.
It’s in wardrobe that he puts the rings on your finger. A platinum wedding band, and an engagement ring with a diamond the size of a moonrock. You’re playing the role of extravagant art dealer, everything about the two of you has to scream rich. It’s gaudy as fuck, he sees the face you pull, and he finds himself smiling. He knows you prefer silver, more meaningful pieces. Sapphires instead of diamonds.
“Would you do me the honour of being my fake wife?” He teases, clasping the delicate jewellery between his fingertips as he takes your hand. “We can share bullets, a pair of handcuffs.”
“When you put it like that how can I refuse?” You smile as he slides the ring onto your finger.
It’s when he looks up, his dark eyes meeting yours that he feels something shift. He has a glimpse into his future, the one he wants with you. He envisions marrying you, somewhere intimate, surrounded by the people that love you as much as he does.
“Do you…” He trails off looking down at the platanium wedding band, his thumb chasing over it lovingly. “Do you ever think about doing this for real?”
“Yea.” You say quietly and he detects the sadness in your voice.
His eyebrows furrow into a frown as he tilts his head up to meet your gaze, a questioning look in his eyes.
“Marriage takes commitment…” You tell him and it feels like you’ve punched him in the chest.
“You don’t think I’m committed to this?” He asks you, his voice lowering an octave, becoming more rough, more gravelly. “To us?”
“I think your job allows you to have one foot out the door. It’s been working for us the last few years but marriage…” You swallow hard against the ache in your chest as you force the words out. “For me it represents security, stability.”
“And you need that.” He says resolutely, pursing his lips together grimly before he pulls away, your hand slipping from his. He picks up the matching suit jacket from the hanger before he pulls it on over his shoulders. “I gotta go update my people.”
“Nik…” You say and he holds his hand up to wave you off.
“Don’t worry about it.” He tells you as he starts to walk away. “We had to get it out in the open at some point right?”

'With a face carved by the hands of Michelangelo himself, Cillian Murphy’s film presence seldom goes unneeded. The Irish actor isn’t Hollywood’s most recognizable leading man. He’s spent most of his career traversing from underrated role to underrated role, giving him an incredibly diverse filmography.
Now, as his titular role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” garners critical acclaim, I wanted to take a look at some of his previous projects.
Red Eye (2005)
Starting off strong with this airplane-set thriller, “Red Eye” follows two strangers, Lisa Reisert, played by Rachel McAdams, and Jackson Rippner, played by Murphy, on a flight to Miami. Jackson’s charm entices Lisa at first, but things take an unexpected turn for the worst when his true intentions are revealed.
Murphy deserved an Academy Award solely for his sassy line delivery in one particular scene — if you know, you know. The fact that he served face doing it makes it so much better.
Watching the Detectives (2007)
This rom-com follows a film nerd and video rental store owner whose life is turned upside down when a manic pixie dream girl type, played by the incomparable Lucy Liu, shows him life can be just as exciting and unpredictable as the films he obsesses over.
Violet, Liu’s character, thrusts Neil, Murphy’s character, from crazy scenario to crazy scenario. For example, after the duo vandalize another local video store under Violet’s suggestion, she pranks Neil by getting two “detectives” to scare him into thinking he’s been caught.
Throughout the film, Violet tells Neil stories in which fact and fiction are hard to discern. One in particular includes a big, bald musician she once dated who stalks her. She ends up pulling another ruse on the now paranoid Neil, faking an abduction by this bald ex that leads to a violent resolution.
I hope this movie inspires film bros to go outside and experience the world beyond the screen — though, hopefully not to the same extent as Neil did.
Breakfast on Pluto (2005)
In this drama, our blue-eyed beauty plays a transgender woman named Patrick “Kitten” Braden. After her mother abandoned her on the steps of a priest’s home, she leaves her small town in Ireland for London in search of her mother and a freer place to fully live her trans identity.
Her journey through London finds her falling in love with the lead singer of a glam rock band and singing and dancing as a member of the children’s entertainment group, The Wombles. She becomes a magician’s assistant and is ultimately forced into prostitution where she narrowly escapes a violent attack by iconically spraying her assailant in the eyes with Chanel No. 5.
Murphy’s performance is striking and campy throughout as he buoys the hardships of the trans experience with Kitten’s whimsy and aversion to taking anything seriously.
The costuming is also absolutely scrumptious. From a certain leather ensemble to the myriad of furs, this is certainly Murphy’s most glamorous role to date.
In Time (2011)
This dystopian quasi-thriller takes place in a society where time is currency. Citizens are genetically-engineered to not age past 25, and when they do reach that age, they are given one more year to live. Time is exchanged from person to person and is stored in capsules; citizens can gain time by working, bartering, stealing or fighting for it.
Though the concept is interesting, the execution leaves much to be desired. Even though the cast is full of familiar faces: Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Johnny Galecki and Justin Timberlake — yes, it’s from that weird era where they tried to make Timberlake a movie star, it seems like everyone here forgot how to act.
With the exception of Murphy, of course. Here, he plays a so-called “Timekeeper,” a select group of individuals tasked with keeping the peace and investigating “time crimes.” Murphy portrays his character, Raymond Leon, with a cold suaveness and a certain sassiness that’s innate to Murphy. The leather jacket and dark, slicked back hair is just a cherry on top.'

The Algo Kangaroo and Kiwi Code: Underground Trend Following Secrets for AUDNZD When the Aussie Dances with the Kiwi Let’s paint a picture: the Australian Dollar (AUD) and the New Zealand Dollar (NZD) walk into a bar. One orders a beer, the other a flat white. The bartender? A trend-following algorithm quietly sipping code behind the scenes, calculating every tick. While AUDNZD doesn't get as much love as EURUSD or GBPJPY, it’s one of the most predictable, range-sensitive, and trend-capable pairs when paired with the right algo. In this piece, we’re diving deep into the obscure mechanics of trend following algorithms applied to the Australian Dollar New Zealand Dollar pair—uncovering secrets, busting myths, and laying down ninja-level strategies that institutions whisper about. The Secret Lives of AUDNZD: Why This Pair is a Trend-Follower’s Playground You wouldn’t buy a surfboard to ride a desert dune, right? Likewise, you don’t want to use breakout strategies on a pair known for mean-reversion UNLESS you know exactly when it flips script. AUDNZD has a unique personality: it trends hard post-news and reacts with almost OCD-level precision to interest rate differentials. Why it matters: - Australia and New Zealand have deep economic ties, meaning lower volatility, but highly sensitive reaction windows. - Both currencies are influenced by China, commodities, and their central banks (RBA and RBNZ). - Trends often arise not from major economic shifts, but from central bank tone differentials (a hawkish RBA vs. a dovish RBNZ = trend party). Insider Tip: Most retail traders ignore this pair. That’s your edge. Algorithms love uncompetitive lanes. Meet the Algos: Which Trend Followers Actually Work on AUDNZD? Let's break this down. Not all trend-following systems are created equal. Here are the 3 best-performing trend-following algorithms for AUDNZD, based on live test results, insider quants, and a few backtests done in a dark room at 2AM with too much coffee: - Smoothed Heikin-Ashi with Adaptive ATR Filter - Filters out the AUDNZD noise - Uses adaptive volatility envelopes to detect sustained movement - Sweet spot: 4-hour and daily charts - CCI-Based Trend Rider (Commodity Channel Index) - CCI > +100 = ride the kangaroo - CCI < -100 = chase the kiwi - Combined with Renko chart overlays, this setup avoids head fakes - MACD Phase Shift Detector - Instead of traditional crossovers, this uses the difference of differences in MACD lines to pre-empt trend shifts - It’s like reading the mood of the market before it says a word Real-World Case: In February 2024, when RBNZ unexpectedly paused rate hikes, AUDNZD surged 150+ pips in under 36 hours. Every one of these algos caught the move. Manual traders? Most were too busy waiting for confirmation candles that came after the party. The Forgotten Metric: Intermarket Momentum Synchrony (IMS) Heard of it? No? That’s why it’s powerful. IMS tracks how synchronized momentum is between AUDNZD and two key benchmarks: - Copper futures (Australia's export driver) - NZDUSD (to filter USD strength) How to Use It: If AUDNZD trends while Copper and NZDUSD diverge, expect a fade. If all align, ride the wave. This is one of the rare metrics institutions use to qualify AUDNZD trend quality. Code Meets Candles: Step-by-Step Guide to Deploying a Trend Algo on AUDNZD Here’s your mini-map to algo domination: - Pick Your Weapon: Choose a trend-following system (e.g., Adaptive ATR Heikin-Ashi). - Tune Parameters for the Pair: AUDNZD prefers longer trend filters due to low average daily range (ADR). - Apply Event Overlays: Use economic calendar events from RBA and RBNZ to create event-triggered windows. - Filter with IMS: Use synchrony to confirm trend quality. - Auto-Adjust Position Sizes: Use StarseedFX’s Smart Trading Tool for risk calibration: Smart Trading Tool - Log and Learn: Maintain a trading journal to improve iteration: Free Trading Journal Why Most Trend Algos Fail on AUDNZD (And How to Avoid It) Truth bomb: Most traders get it wrong because they treat AUDNZD like a high-beta pair. It’s not. It’s a patient slow-burner that rewards consistency over drama. Common Pitfalls: - Using 15-minute charts on a pair that moves like molasses - Trading during Asian sessions when both countries are asleep - Ignoring macro divergence between RBA and RBNZ tone Fixes That Work: - Shift to 4H and Daily timeframes - Trade only post-news or when IMS confirms alignment - Use trading alerts from StarseedFX Community: Join Now Bulletproof Tactics for Smarter Trend Trading on AUDNZD - Pre-News Scanning: Use RBNZ & RBA tone analysis for early bias - Trend Confirmation with CCI: Combine trend algos with CCI divergence for layered confirmation - Stay in the Flow: Use StarseedFX’s real-time economic indicators to stay ahead: Forex News Today - Course Correct: Brush up on rare strategies with the free Forex courses: Free Forex Courses Final Bytes from the Aussie-Kiwi Underground If you’ve made it this far, you’re already ahead of 90% of traders who never look past EURUSD. The AUDNZD is an underrated beast—slow, precise, and full of hidden opportunities for those using smart trend following algorithms. Key Takeaways: - AUDNZD responds best to macro tone shifts between RBA and RBNZ - Trend-following algos need to be adapted to longer timeframes and filtered using intermarket indicators - Using advanced tools like IMS, adaptive ATR, and phase-shift MACD provides an edge - Most traders overlook AUDNZD—your biggest advantage is curiosity Trade smart. Ride trends. And remember: if it moves like a kiwi but kicks like a kangaroo, you’re probably on the right trade. —————– Image Credits: Cover image at the top is AI-generated Read the full article

Step-by-Step Guide to Retrieving Funds from Crypto Scams
Tumblr media
Crypto scams have become an unfortunate reality in the digital age. With the rise of digital currencies and the promise of huge profits, scammers are taking advantage of unsuspecting investors. However, the good news is that there are steps you can take to retrieve your funds from crypto scams. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of identifying scams, gathering evidence, and pursuing methods to recover your lost funds.
Understanding Crypto Scams
Before jumping into the process of retrieving funds, it is crucial to first understand what crypto scams are and how they operate. Crypto scams typically involve fraudulent schemes designed to deceive investors into sending their digital currency to scammers. These scams can take many forms, including fake ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings), Ponzi schemes, phishing attacks, and fraudulent investment platforms. Often, these scams promise high returns with little to no risk, which is a major red flag.
The anonymity and decentralization of cryptocurrencies make it easy for scammers to hide their identities and evade detection. This, in turn, makes it difficult for victims to recover their funds without following the right steps. Nonetheless, the fact that these scams exist does not mean that you cannot take action. By understanding how they work and taking immediate steps to retrieve your funds, you can increase your chances of success.
Step 1: Identify the Type of Scam
The first step to recovering your lost funds is identifying the specific type of scam that you fell victim to. Different scams require different approaches for recovery, so knowing what kind of scam you were involved in can significantly impact your chances of success.
Ponzi Schemes: Ponzi schemes promise high returns to early investors using the money from new investors. If the platform was too good to be true and offered unrealistic returns with no clear business model, there’s a high chance you were part of a Ponzi scheme.
Phishing Scams: Phishing scams involve fraudulent websites, emails, or messages designed to steal your personal information, such as private keys or login credentials. If you received an email or message asking you to click on a link or provide sensitive information, you might have fallen for a phishing attack.
Fake ICOs: Fake ICOs involve bogus initial coin offerings that don’t exist. They convince investors to buy tokens or coins that have no real value, leading to a total loss of funds.
Once you know which type of scam you were involved in, it becomes easier to focus your recovery efforts and approach the situation accordingly.
Step 2: Retrieve Funds from Crypto Scams
Now that you've identified the type of scam, it's time to start working on retrieving your lost funds. The process can be challenging and may take some time, but persistence is key.
There are several methods you can use to retrieve your funds from a crypto scam:
Contact the Platform (if applicable): If the scam is a fake crypto exchange or investment platform, your first step should be to contact the platform directly. This may seem counterintuitive, but there’s a chance they could be monitoring your account or could offer a refund. Keep in mind that most fraudulent platforms will not respond, but it’s worth trying.
Report the Scam to Authorities: Reporting the scam to local authorities or cybercrime agencies is another critical step. Many governments have special units dedicated to investigating cryptocurrency-related crimes. Reporting the scam provides valuable information that can help law enforcement track down scammers and prevent further victims.
Reach Out to a Recovery Service: Many professional services specialize in helping victims of crypto scams recover their funds. These services typically offer forensic analysis of blockchain transactions to identify and trace stolen funds. While they can be costly, they can increase your chances of getting your money back, especially if the scam is sophisticated.
Use Legal Channels: In some cases, you may be able to recover funds through legal action. This is more feasible if you can identify the scammers or the platform involved in the scam. Consult with a lawyer who specializes in cryptocurrency or fraud cases to explore your legal options. If successful, you could recover some or all of your funds through a court ruling.
Step 3: Gather Evidence and Documentation
One of the most important steps in recovering funds is gathering as much evidence and documentation as possible. This can include:
Transaction Records: Keep track of all transactions, including the amount of cryptocurrency sent, the recipient's wallet address, and any correspondence you had with the platform or scammers. These records can be critical when contacting authorities or recovery services.
Screenshots: Take screenshots of any conversations, website pages, or promotional materials related to the scam. This can serve as proof of your interaction with the fraudulent platform and can help law enforcement build a case.
Email Correspondence: If you received phishing emails or other forms of communication from the scammers, save copies of these emails. The more information you can provide, the better your chances of successfully recovering your funds.
Step 4: Follow Up with Your Bank or Payment Provider
If you used a credit card, debit card, or bank transfer to fund the crypto scam, you may be able to reverse the transaction. Some payment processors and banks offer fraud protection services, allowing victims to dispute charges and request refunds.
In some cases, you might need to provide documentation such as transaction details, proof of fraud, and any communication with the scammers. If your bank or payment provider offers chargeback services, be sure to file a dispute as soon as possible to increase the chances of success.
Step 5: Monitor Blockchain Transactions
If you suspect that the funds have been moved from your wallet to another address, tracking the transactions on the blockchain can be helpful. Blockchain explorers allow you to track the flow of funds in real-time, providing insights into where your money might have gone.
While blockchain transactions are irreversible, identifying the address or wallet holding your funds can help you track down the scammer's wallet and report it to authorities. Some recovery services also use blockchain analytics tools to track stolen funds across multiple wallets, increasing the chances of a successful recovery.
Step 6: Stay Vigilant and Learn from the Experience
Once you have completed the necessary steps to retrieve your funds, it’s essential to stay vigilant and continue learning from the experience. Crypto scams are constantly evolving, and new types of fraud are emerging all the time. By educating yourself on how scams work and how to spot potential risks, you can protect yourself from falling victim to future scams.
Additionally, it’s a good idea to strengthen your online security practices. Use strong passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and avoid sharing your private keys or sensitive information with anyone. By being proactive about your security, you can reduce the risk of being scammed again.
Conclusion
Crypto scams are a harsh reality in the digital world, but they do not have to define your experience with cryptocurrency. By following these steps and staying proactive, you can increase your chances of retrieving your lost funds. While it may be a long and challenging process, the key is to act quickly, gather evidence, and seek professional help if needed. Remember, persistence and vigilance are essential when it comes to recovering funds from crypto scams.

The Role of Crypto Fraud Detection in Scam Recovery
Tumblr media
Cryptocurrency has taken the world by storm, revolutionizing the way we think about finance, investments, and transactions. However, with the rapid growth of this digital asset class, there has been an unfortunate rise in scams and fraudulent activities within the crypto space. As more individuals and organizations dip their toes into the world of cryptocurrency, the need for reliable crypto fraud detection and recovery mechanisms has become paramount. This blog explores how crypto fraud detection plays a pivotal role in identifying, preventing, and recovering from scams in the world of cryptocurrency.
The Growing Problem of Crypto Scams
Cryptocurrency scams have exploded in recent years, fueled by the growing popularity of digital currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others. Scammers prey on the lack of understanding and experience that many crypto users have, leading them to make mistakes that cost them their hard-earned money. From Ponzi schemes and fake ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) to phishing attacks and pump-and-dump schemes, the methods used by fraudsters are as diverse as the crypto ecosystem itself.
One of the main reasons that cryptocurrency scams are so prevalent is the pseudo-anonymous nature of many crypto transactions. While blockchain technology is praised for its transparency and security, it also provides a level of anonymity that scammers exploit. Victims often find it difficult to trace their stolen funds or identify the perpetrators, which adds to the challenge of recovering lost assets.
How Crypto Fraud Detection Works
Crypto fraud detection is the practice of identifying suspicious or fraudulent activity within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. It involves a combination of automated tools, sophisticated algorithms, and human expertise to analyze transactions and identify potential scams. These systems are designed to track unusual patterns, red flags, and other indicators that could suggest fraudulent behavior.
A key element in the effectiveness of crypto fraud detection is the ability to monitor transactions in real-time. Automated systems can analyze the flow of funds and identify patterns of activity that are inconsistent with normal user behavior. For example, a sudden spike in the movement of funds from one address to another or the transfer of large sums to a new wallet could trigger an alert. Similarly, patterns of behavior that align with known scam tactics, such as creating fake accounts or manipulating markets, can also be detected.
One of the most crucial aspects of crypto fraud detection is its ability to identify scams before they can do significant damage. By proactively monitoring transactions, detecting fraudulent patterns, and alerting users to suspicious activities, these systems can help prevent the loss of funds in the first place. This proactive approach is essential in the fast-paced world of cryptocurrency, where scams often unfold quickly and with little warning.
Crypto Fraud Detection and Recovery
In addition to preventing scams, crypto fraud detection plays a crucial role in scam recovery. When a scam does occur, the ability to trace stolen funds and track down the perpetrators becomes critical. Crypto fraud detection tools help identify the movement of stolen assets across the blockchain, making it possible to track down funds even if they have been transferred to multiple wallets.
In the event of a crypto scam, the first step is to alert the appropriate authorities and blockchain networks. By reporting the scam early, users may increase their chances of recovering lost funds. Crypto fraud detection systems can help by identifying suspicious wallets, providing transaction history, and flagging addresses that have been involved in illicit activities. While recovery is never guaranteed, these systems offer a fighting chance to trace stolen funds and, in some cases, reverse fraudulent transactions.
Another important aspect of scam recovery is educating users on how to protect themselves in the future. Crypto fraud detection systems often come with educational resources and tips to help users understand how scams work and how to avoid them. By being proactive about security and adopting best practices for safe cryptocurrency transactions, users can reduce their risk of falling victim to scams in the future.
The Benefits of Crypto Fraud Detection
There are numerous benefits to incorporating crypto fraud detection into the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem. Some of the key advantages include:
Early Detection: Crypto fraud detection systems can identify suspicious activity in real time, allowing users to take action before significant losses occur.
Improved Security: By continuously monitoring blockchain transactions, these systems help improve the overall security of cryptocurrency networks, making it more difficult for scammers to succeed.
Fraud Prevention: By identifying patterns associated with known scams, fraud detection systems can help prevent scams from taking place in the first place. This proactive approach is key to protecting users from falling victim to fraud.
Scam Recovery: In the unfortunate event that a scam does occur, fraud detection systems can help trace stolen funds, identify perpetrators, and assist in the recovery process.
User Education: Many fraud detection systems offer resources and tools to help users learn about the risks associated with cryptocurrency transactions and how to protect themselves from fraud.
The Future of Crypto Fraud Detection
As the crypto space continues to evolve, so too will the methods used by fraudsters. To stay ahead of the curve, crypto fraud detection systems must continue to adapt and improve. New technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, are already being integrated into fraud detection systems to enhance their ability to detect emerging scam tactics and better predict fraudulent behavior.
Moreover, the integration of decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into the cryptocurrency landscape introduces new challenges for fraud detection. With the rise of DeFi platforms, where users interact directly with smart contracts, there is a need for more sophisticated monitoring tools to detect vulnerabilities in these decentralized systems. The same applies to NFTs, where fraudsters may attempt to manipulate markets or sell fake digital assets.
By continuing to innovate and improve detection capabilities, the crypto industry can enhance security, reduce the impact of scams, and create a safer environment for users. Crypto fraud detection will remain an essential part of the crypto ecosystem, helping to build trust and ensure that cryptocurrency adoption continues to grow in a secure and sustainable way.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the role of crypto fraud detection in scam recovery cannot be overstated. As cryptocurrency becomes more mainstream, the risks associated with scams and fraudulent activities will continue to grow. By implementing robust fraud detection systems, the crypto community can reduce the prevalence of scams, protect users, and provide a path to recovery when fraud occurs.
It is clear that the future of cryptocurrency is dependent on security and trust. With the right tools in place, such as crypto fraud detection systems, users can navigate the crypto space with greater confidence, knowing that measures are in place to protect them from scams and fraudulent activities.
