Dating Midnight headcannons

cuz everyone loves an emo boi

-Sleeps all the freaking time, as we know, and can fall asleep anywhere, anytime, even standing up. You kinda envy him for that.

-Makes you cuddle with him (unless something important is happening or others are around) because it apparently makes him relaxed.

-His favorite nicknames for you are "my dream" and "darling".

-Lets you do his hair and makeup, though this is mostly because he's too tired and/or lazy to do it himself.

-It's actually better if you do it because one time, he fell asleep while putting on his lipstick and almost swallowed it.

-Whenever he's not committing crimes, he likes following you all over the place, even if he isn't awake most of the time. Just don't take him to any overcrowded areas or you might lose him.

-He has the prettiest eyes and knows it, so when you guys are relaxing together, you'll often catch him staring at you.

-You're very likely to get used as a pillow, which is nice, especially in cold weather, but can also get really hot, stuffy, and generally uncomfortable depending on the temperature.

-Occasionally gets nightmares and wakes up sobbing, so you'll need to comfort him. Poor thing will be a shaking, whimpering mess, it's enough to make you sad just looking at him.

-Actually has great taste in music and movies, and enjoys binge watching TV with you whenever you both have the time.

-Is very weak to jumpscares, as ridiculous as that sounds. If you do something as simple as hiding in the closet and jumping out when he walks in, he'll freak the hell out and refuse to speak to you for the rest of the night.

-Has a skincare routine. Yes, he gatekeeps, but he might let you in on it if you ask.

This took me a minute. I was going to wait until we got to that point in our rewatch but didn't want to leave you hanging for weeks. Consider these tentative redesigns that may change once I reach the arc.

Few notes: I want to keep angel relatively the same but with my own twist on her outfit.

I acknowledge cobra's design is personal preference for me. Honestly I think Cobra being calm and terrifying works well, especially if we save his unhinged nature for post timeskip when he's seeking out Cubelios. I do hope retracting fangs, unhinging jaws, and extreme flexibility somewhat meets your quota.

Hoteye doesn't have a canon reason to look like he does outside of being Wally's brother so I tossed the geometric shapes and kept the "grabbing at being rich" look.

For the final three it's more minor alterations than heavy changes. Brain was hard to change but I did want to adjust some elements I wasn't a fan of. Racer and Midnight just got some personal touches of mine.

Found this in my drafts and while old, it was quite good? So, Oracion Seis and Crime Sorciere hc, because why not!

While they "voluntarily" join CS, it's no secret that oracion seis were children kidnapped and forced into slavery by a cult, who's first hope of upheaval turned around, simply replaced the cultists with even colder cruelty, and Macbeth is particularly bitter about the way things turned out.

Years of being helpless, years of enduring torture in the name of becoming strong and being able to stand on his own, but even after he beated Jellal to a pulp in the Nirvana incident, the second Jellal had him by the collar, yelling in his face, Macbeth felt like a child again. Weak, useless, unable to defend himself, with the only choice of compliance to survive. Jellal did threaten to throw them in a hole again, after all.

Macbeth's relationship with Meredy is strained at best. He doesn't particularly have anything against her, other than siding with the man that abused them, even if for a short while, but Meredy hated his guts from the get-go, and with good reason.

Meredy was forced to watch Jellal get beaten up, told to stay put, and had to watch an illusion of the only person she holds as dear as Ultear getting murdered. And she's rightfully resentful of the fact. She held it against Jellal even, for a considerable while, before she could bring herself to forgive him. But it's different with the others. They're nothing of hers, and while Richard may explain their pain and qualms about Jellal, the fact remains that he's the only one she has left, and she refuses to see that fight in a different light. Partially because she knows Jellal's and her own intentions, the noble core of redeeming themselves however messed up it's execution was, and partially because they're strangers and she places the ones she loves before random people. Perhaps, if she ever got truly close to them, she'd see it was the worst call possible to try and fight them.

While not as bad as it could have been, they were still cruel, and Meredy can't let it go just like that, especially with Macbeth. He was the one who casted the illusion, who decided to show her her worst fear to keep her away and desestabilize her, and even when she initially tried to put on a mask and approach them with kind words, only Richard met her halfway, while the rest openly rejected her. It would be a long way before it's water under the bridge, if ever. Conscious or not, his actions would come across as antagonistic to her, even if he has a good point. At the end of the day, Jellal is the only one she has on her corner, and as such, she will defend him to the bitter end, even when his methods are wrong. Or perhaps, especially when his methods are wrong. With time and an apology, or some acknowledgment that he hurt her, however faint, it could be bridged enough for actual kind words, but until then, Meredy will defend her position of politeness being the best she can do.

While civil, the them vs us mentality remains, and it's mostly up to Jellal and Richard to try and make the bridge, if it can be built at all.

Although he's highly social, Erik is also the protective kind, and between the things in their childhood that involved Jellal, the beat up, and Meredy's hostility, he's left with no desire to interact with those two outside of a surface, amicable workplace relationship, and prefers to hang out with his brothers and sister.

While they are the girls of the group, Meredy and Sorano don't get along. Meredy felt like maybe she could approach the woman, they're the only girls after all! But it didn't work at all. Meredy holds too much of a grudge, and Sorano is downright vicious. Meredy doesn't like them, and Jellal even humiliated them while doing the "convincing"; calling their names, recounting their lives. Yes, Sorano wants to be free, and maybe good enough to go back to her little sister, but she's also petty and proud, so she won't even even pretend to like them.

Richard is the most open of OS. He believes they can heal and move forward, and Jellal is trying to make amends, so why not try? Yes, he'll still protect his siblings above all, but he will talk to Jellal and Meredy casually and try to bring the group together.

Sawyer is probably the easiest to convince out of the four of them, but it's still not easy. No mater how much Richard tries to put in a good word, the fact remains that Jellal was just as bad as the cultists, and Sawyer wanted to run away from everything too much to simply accept being in the same space as that man. He far prefers to hang out with his siblings anyway. He may open up to Meredy in the end, but it's a long shot.

They are happy for Meredy and Jellal, in a way, mostly out of longing for the same. If Jellal of all people can get together with Erza and potentially join Fairy Tail, they can find their brother and sister and go back to them. They can live peaceful lives with the ones of their choosing. They can actually have connections and forgiveness. ...right?

Speaking of siblings. It takes less than two hours for the others to accept Wally and Yukino as their own siblings, and they're just as fierce while protecting them as they are with the siblings they grew up with.

After the guild was dissolved, none of them spoke to Jellal for pleasure alone. Whether it was information exchange or something else, there's always business involved.

Through the use of Reflector, Midnight is the only person so far who can hide his thoughts from Cobra's hearing, with this also being how Brain managed to hide so much from him for so long. Cobra has never minded this; Midnight is a very private person, as are most of the Seis. That's not to say Cobra hasn't heard the inside of Midnight's head before--back when Midnight was new to Reflector, Cobra would hear his nightmares while he was sleeping. It was a vivid and viscerally uncomfortable thing, and it's a major reason Midnight went as far as to learn how to use it in his sleep.

Sensory overload, just like with Laxus and Gajeel, affects both Cobra and Midnight in equal but different ways. They're both fond of shutting out the rest of the world for a little while, and that means they can often be found abusing sleep aids. Later on in their relationship, this takes a healthier turn.

If you think about it, Cobra is kind of the heart of the Seis. Everybody else has their issues--Racer is constantly running from his trauma, Angel sometimes barely feels alive, and Midnight is an extreme loner who believes no one could possibly relate to him. It's Cobra that knows all of the Seis most intimately and keeps them bound as a unit. Even when Midnight is trying to play himself up as some evil demon sadist with no soul or whatever, Cobra can see through it.

As such, if there is anyone at all that Midnight will ever surrender control to, it's Cobra. His cherished Cobra, who he will trust with it more than anyone else. He can make the decisions, he can breach the invisible border between Midnight and everyone else, and he can say what's on his mind.

Cobra is unquestionably the more physical of the two. This means both in fighting and in personal activities--Cobra will be the one to slide an arm around Midnight in that 'claiming territory' kind of way, and maybe, you know...Midnight likes it.

Animals gravitate towards Cobra quite easily, and this is something Midnight is rather jealous of, since animals are very wary around him. Cobra promises to help him fix it, but first he's got to stop using that Reflector constantly, as animals can sense the sudden lack of movement in the air around him and it puts them on edge.

And now...for the ns/fw section:

Cobra is in charge when it comes to sex. He is the only one Midnight will ever trust with that responsibility. Sex usually takes a long time relatively speaking, and it's because Midnight doesn't think it's worth it if he isn't slowly and completely dismantled by the end of it.

The both of them dislike their own bodies and suffer from some dysphoria/dysmorphia. They help each other with this a lot, but it's still a while before they get completely naked with each other in bed.

Kissing is Midnight's chance to feel those fangs, and it's the primary reason he does it.

Cobra will lay back and relax while Midnight licks at/kisses/sucks his nipples, especially relaxing and pleasant for him given that Midnight likes to take his time with that sort of thing. Sometimes he'll even drink some wine or smoke a cigarette while Midnight does his thing.

Midnight is enthusiastically willing to let Cobra test any number of poisons or chemical alterations on him if it means he'll turn Dragon Force on and get those scales going during sex. (Cobra would never. He does it because he loves Midnight.)

Midnight abso-fucking-lutely loves being clawed and bit during sex. Not in the k.nky way that dragonslayers often do--he wants it to hurt. He's a masochist and a sadist, and he wants marks on his body after the fact.

I’m curious about your interpretation of the Oración Seis in the Key of the Starry Heavens Arc. Considering it’s related to the church and religion and what not.

This ask funny enough made me actually watch a fairy tail episode for the first time in years. The fact that a heavy Lucy centric arc that focuses on religion is filler does drive me insane.

Notes for these designs:

They're made under the idea that oracion seis got broken out of prison years before the arc and have worked their way into the church.

I think Zentopia is meant to be an alternate religion, not the main one followed by the citizens of earthling in canon so that's what I'm operating under

I feel like this wasn't fully what you meant but I'm a sucker for sketching characters in religious garb so here we are.

Still currently watching through the arc so I'm sorry if I missed someone in the group. May add them in later.
