The Donald Trump lawyer was on Meet The Press over the weekend, where he said the following:

Yeah, that's great and all make no mistake--that has quite literally nothing to do with the charges against Donald Trump. He could have said anything he wanted, he couldn't have conspired to overturn a federal election to keep himself in power, which is what he's actually being accused of.

Hatching schemes to stay in office when the law says you have to leave is a crime, you moron. Also, although lying on its own is not a crime, it can be used as evidence for fraud--such as if you go around fundraising on the basis that you won an election you know you lost and get millions of dollars from that.

You know that Sound of Freedom movie the right loves so much despite the fact that's utter dogshit? Well one of its funders was arrested recently for child kidnapping!

Fabian Marta, an investor of the faith-based anti-child trafficking film Sound of Freedom, has been arrested and charged with child kidnapping.

You’re obviously pointing this out to try and discredit the film but that doesn’t work. You and the articles reporting on this are dishonestly framing this guy as a “funder” or “investor” implying that he had some major role in the production of the film when that couldn’t be further from the truth.

During crowdfunding events he was one of thousands of random people who donated to the film. And who knows why he did that? Probably to try and make it seem like he’s a good person and be like “see I wouldn’t hurt kids!”

In reality, we don’t know the details of the case and I’m sure what he did was terrible but it has nothing to do with the film or the production of it and doesn’t discredit it in any way or the good message it is promoting.

In fact, this man is so far removed from anything that has to do with The Sound of Freedom that mentioning it in the story at all is nothing but a manipulation tactic by those of you who are unexplainably adamantly against a movie that says child trafficking is bad and needs to stop.

OHHHHHH these are such good questions! i have been rotating it in my mind and now that i am finally back to being a person (travelling & wisdom tooth surgery back to back knocked me on my ass) i am so excited to answer!!!!

i think the really instinctual district pairings were to me, the abernants in district one and the seacasters in four. like it felt so obvious to me that the abernants (rich family) would be district one and the seacasters (new money ocean themed family) would be district four. everyone else required a bit more thought/didn't come quite as naturally.

coming up with the older victors has been so fun. except when it hasn't been fun (having to completely rearrange the timeline bc brennan decided to finally make the teachers characters when i'd already decided how old they were/what they looked like/what district they were from). but some of my fave older victor facts for you:

tulwar (of pirol fame) was the victor of the first quarter quell.

marta (one of the gnomes from sophomore year fame) won by electrocuting half the career pack (a la beetee).

porter killed both the district one tributes in his games.

cathilda's arena was an abandoned port city (a la an abandoned leviathan).

i do have thoughts™ on how each of the victors have coped with the aftermath, at least with regards to the victors who play a significant role in each section (aelwyn and halo in adaine's, daybreak and zara and porter in kristen's, etc). and i think they give the bad kids an Idea™ of what it's like if they win. and then when they win, it's not like they expected? idk if that makes SENSE to anyone else. it makes sense to me, but then again i am very much coming off of four days of good pain meds bc they removed four teeth from my head, so just know i'm doing my best.

i think the weight of performance vs violence as a scale is SUPER interesting. and it's really so interesting to see how each character responds to that. because i think kristen (particularly as a career) is the one who is thinking the most about performance and how she comes across (at least pre games), versus gorgug and riz (kids from non career districts) who don't have the extra, like. mental capacity to worry about how they're coming across to the capitol (which might cause problems for them later! uh oh!) and then adaine and fabian and fig are a little bit in the middle where they're AWARE they should considering how they're coming across, but it's not exactly their top priority. for reasons.

Okay....so Tumblr got walloped by a spree of empty accounts pestering any active blog with shallow follows here for over two and half months. I mentioned to someone who brought this up, that these accounts are low-effort trolling, and that in my past experience, they usually act as ground cover distraction for something far more convincing (and worse) on the way.

-so, yeah, while we were swatting at gnats, Tumblr was bombarded by a lot (A LOT) of accounts shilling like crazy for the fake-ass QAnon conspiracy fiction film "Sound of Freedom" in that time. These recent accounts were good at appearing anime ("i aM An arTIsT!") or safely "gay" or appearing like Christian mom's who get gooey over Caviezel (the worst are these incredibly fake "Catholic" accounts who have never heard of Dorothy Day and think showing a generic pic of an icon will convince others-along with the word "Catholic" in their URL-that they are the real deal). The accounts were trying really hard to "appear Tumblr", and the fact there were so many of them makes this "the big hill they wanted to die on" for this year (so far). Chances are these accounts (many with goofy pop culture reference names) are ones you wouldn't even go near following, but they very likely lurked near any popular post you had lately to beef up their cred here.

One account aptly pointed out that they sound like cultists parroting the same things "everyone must see this film!", "this film really opened my eyes" (to what? trafficking? something human rights groups have been yelling about since the 70s and 80s?), and "God's children are not for sale!"....many went as far as to get conspiratorial saying that the movie itself was a victim of a plot to undersell it, to show it in poorly air conditioned theaters, or that outlets aptly critiquing the film, like Rolling Stone, are part of the "evil Soros (((elite)))" (actual dog-whistles in use) trying to suppress the film. If the film were suppressed, it simply would've not been released. You have guys like Musk, Trump, and that antisemite, Mel Gibson supporting it.

-by far the worst and most combative spew to come from these accounts is the false dilemma of "anyone who dislikes this film is a Pedo"-oh, like we haven't heard this ugly, slanderous drivel from scores of trolls on every platform over, basically anything, in the last eight years. This ranks with "If you criticize the state of Israel's actions in Palestine, you must be antisemitic." Oddly enough, the persons involved in the film are antisemitic, far-right POSs.

If anyone had a lingering thought that this movie was typically RW deflection and projection away from all the pedophilia found within circles of RW A-holes (There have been eight guys who worked under Trump called out as pedos....this is not including Trump's heavy ties to Epstein, or associations Trump has had with pedos like Roy Moore or Matt Gaetz....just recently, an anti-abortionist named Cole Wagner was arrested for child sex abuse, and a Patriot Front member in Utah arrested with child porn)....well, guess what, the above producer of the film, Hutchinson, was filmed in 2016 feeling up the breasts of a trafficked underage girl...y'know, to stay "in that deep cover". Recently, Tim Ballard was discovered using women to "pose as wives" (y'know, that "deep cover thang") in his self-indulgent crusade, and it involved him insisting the women must shower and sleep with him. A financier for the film, Fabian Marta, was found to be a child-kidnapper, and though it is not proven, there have been wild rumors that the far-right nut Caviezel was watching child porn "for research on the subject matter".

So, yeah, the call is coming from inside the building, and anything these dead-in-the-water accounts say by praising this film is complete BS (thanks for the extensive blocklist, Tumblr).

It's bad enough you had accounts here pushing the Wayfair conspiracy crap over two years go or some that actually shilled this phony "outrage" over oil-heiress-funded fake clean-cut "climate activists" causing disruptions at events (unmasked) and "vandalizing" art work at museums that chose to no longer allow support from BP, but to come on here and stir up a repackaged QAnon like a re-heated dogturd and use that as Carte Blanche to label critics with the worst things you could possibly label someone just to protect the name of a truly rotten political party that has been going down in flames for years now is unforgivable.

This fictional film does absolutely nothing to stop the real danger of human trafficking and child pedophila. It bolsters this "white Christian man" is gonna fight the "menace across the border", rather than look at what is going on in churches and cults and scout groups and locker rooms and Olympic gymnast training committees and with the family members, friends, and coaches we think we know. A lot of trafficking happens in rich countries that has nothing to do with traveling as well, ppl confuse trafficking with movement but all that's actually required is an exchange of money, goods or services entwined with exploitation.

It's actually a very broad term and it applies even to stuff you wouldn't think. Like if a person takes a pic of a kid (like csam not regular photos lmao) and then sells it to his friend, or involves money in other ways, that is trafficking.

Organized crime is embedded in most major cities and gangs are as well and most of this ecosystem relies on trafficking as a foundation. It very much isn't the bullshit you hear about in fucking sound of freedom, but it's a lot more prevalent and mundane than is being made out in this post.

You are literally commodified in some way, and that can look like a lot of different stuff from rape, to indentured servitude, slavery, kids being forced to make money for gangs, etc. Most trafficking is based in labor, but it also happens to a lot of kids. It's probably happened to someone you personally know.

Fun fact, human traffickers LOVE pretending to care about trafficking. Fabian Marta, one of this movie's backers, got arrested for it. Mine wrote a literal paper on the subject that you can find on Google and volunteered working with victimized sex workers while literally doing the same shit.

Dickheads of the Month: August 2023

As it seems that there are people who say or do things that are remarkably dickheaded yet somehow people try to make excuses for them or pretend it never happened, here is a collection of some of the dickheaded actions we saw in the month of August 2023 to make sure that they are never forgotten.         

Raging neanderthal Lee Anderson didn't so much say the quiet part out loud and bellow it above the echoing sound of his knuckles scraping against the ground when he literally said asylum seekers should “Fuck off back to France” if they think housing migrants on a floating deathtrap might happen to make the Tories look like a bunch of fascist, dogwhistling cunts 

...and yet the hard centre extremists did not seem concerned about Anderson’s rhetoric and tone, yet the second that Diane Abbott drew attention to dozens of migrants drowning in the Mediterranean by using Anderson's knuckledragging against him they were up in arms about her tone and rhetoric

...all the while Suella Braverman and Robert Jenrick were both wondering if they could very quietly fuck off to France when it emerged that, within 24 hours, not only had people with typhoid been allowed onto the Bibby Stockholm without any thought given to quarantine, but then there was a Legionnaires outbreak that saw those on board whisked away for treatment on dry land

...though Suella Braverman wasn't quite done with abysmal takes regarding the Bibby Stockholm when it then emerged the Fire Brigade Union had declared it to be a potential deathtrap, to which Braverman countered by saying the FBU were in cahoots with Labour

Just when you think Kemi Badenoch can’t be an even more ridiculous face of going full fash, she announces that she wants to appoint a Lavatory Tsar to eradicate gender neutral toilets in all buildings because this is the level of culture war bullshit we’re getting from the Tories at this point...unless you're disabled, as disabled toilets will continue to be gender neutral because Kemi Badenoch doesn't recognise disabled people as being real human beings so they’re exempt from this TERFy lunacy which continues to pretend that nobody has ever been on a plane or a train

Good on Fabian Marta for exposing the Sound of Freedom pyramid scheme in a way nobody would have expected, with him getting arrested for child felony kidnapping which makes the sugar daddy parties he runs looks even ickier.  Just a reminder, Marta is credited at the end of the film for funding getting the word out.  But remember, anyone who criticises the film is a paedophile...
