Random take but ironically, it's bakudeku who taught me what love really is and loving the concept of love despite me being a shipper and hating it for years (love and the ship). Like, they're the reason I was inspired to grow and develop as a person and be loving to others instead of wanting to rip their head off and using their body as a chew toy. I mean, I still get the urge but it's much more less now thankfully.
Funny that my most hated ship changed me for the better, even though I wasn't as vocal as the others with the vitriol.

also i think it wasnt bkdk to me becuz deku always viewed bakugo in a relatively nice/forgiving light even when he didnt deserve it so bkdk to me read more as bakugo becoming what izuku thought he could be/had the potential to be,, and i also think that bakugo's character development was very heavily influenced by his classmates and teacher and not just izuku
and also bakugo didnt really have a shit ton of abuse and suffering that caused him to be like that he was just very heavily enabled and eventually learned to be like not a jerk
izuku never really had to unpeel his layers and understand him like sskk did with each other
bkdk and sskk are VERY different dynamics;; just becuz they follow a broad enemy-rival-friend-sacrificed my life to save you trope doesnt mean theyre the same

Not-Really Chapter Thoughts BNHA 424
You know, I really think there should be a point at which Deku rushing in with no plan and doing whatever he thinks feels right should become Heroic Malpractice.
Just me?
Because, like, Shouto had a plan. He spent the time between the two war arcs specifically developing a brand-new combat technique that he planned to use to shut down Dabi's combat advantage without killing him. He convinced his dad not to change the plan like Endeavor was hesitantly sounding him out about[1]; he went out and talked and asked questions, and even if they weren't the right words every single time, he did his best and he did it with intention. If Dabi proves to be dead, it won't be because of anything Shouto did to him; it'll be because Dabi himself chose to stand back up, take a warp gate across the country, pick a fight with the guy who doesn't have the power set to shut him down without unduly hurting him, and try to replicate an Ultimate Move specifically tailored for someone with a balanced power set Dabi doesn't have.[2]
And if Dabi lives, it's still going to be because Shouto booked it across the country and used that same technique to stop him again.
1: Dabi surely would have preferred to fight Endeavor from the start, and it probably would have been the more "just" choice if it had to be one or the other, but Shouto is the nominal focal character between the three of them, so, critiques of the broader Hero-side decisions aside, Shouto's arc has to come first. This is one of those places where you can clearly see how much the decision to let Endeavor survive where Horikoshi originally planned for him to die hurts the shape of the later story.
2: Obviously ultimately if Dabi dies, it's going to be because his family and Team Hero made repeated choices to ignore and neglect him, culminating in the entire family swearing to deal with Touya together only to passively accept a battle plan that involved splitting them all and letting the kid who knows Touya the least be the one to fight him. But like, in the context of that fight, Shouto isn't the reason Dabi takes all that hurt.
Uraraka may or may not have had much of a plan, but at least the words she said to Toga reflected that she had been seriously thinking about Toga in the here and now, what Toga's told her, what Toga needs. If Toga dies, it will be because Toga chose to give Uraraka an unsupervised blood transfusion with no intention of stopping it. (With the same general caveats as in Footnote 2.)
But Deku? From the very beginning, Deku has been valorized by the manga for how much he doesn't plan. All Might tells him specifically that it's a sign of greatness shown by future "top Heroes" that, in some crisis situation, their bodies moved before they could think. Bakugou's Rising chapter is defined by him reaching that same state.
Deku claimed he wanted to save Shigaraki; he's sad in the latest chapter that he couldn't save Tenko's[3] life. But did he ever have a real plan to do that? With all the quirks he had at his disposal - both his own and those who would be in the flying coffin with him, or classmates whose presence he could specifically request - did he think hard and come up with a technique that would let him stop Shigaraki without harming him? Did he try to connect with the Shigaraki right in front of him by citing to the future?
3: And I have nothing but scorn for Deku's insistence on that name when "Tenko" goes out very pointedly calling himself Shigaraki Tomura.
Well, no. Deku obstinately yelled at the phantasms in Shigaraki's mindscape that he had no plan whatsoever. The only plans we saw him carry out were ones handed to him by the OFA collective that involved "breaking" Shigaraki's psyche; the only plans he came up with himself involved more efficiently breaking Shigaraki's body.
Way back in Chapter 130, Nighteye harshly scolded Deku by saying that his way of thinking was arrogant. He said, "Go after him haphazardly and he'll slip through our fingers. You're not so special as to be able to save who you want, when you want. (...) This world is not so accommodating that you can act the Hero because you feel like it."
It felt like something that Deku should have taken to heart, a lesson to be learned and applied later, but I never much got the feeling that he did. Nothing he did in that moment, in that arc, or anywhere else in the series afterward indicates that he thought Nighteye was right. He just chose not to talk back, and the arc ended with Nighteye dead and no longer around to pose objections to Deku's mode of heroism.
But Nighteye was right. Three hundred chapters later, Shigaraki is dead because Deku could not be arsed to plan for how he could stop Shigaraki without killing him. Because he let Gran Fucking Torino give him the intellectual out that killing someone could be a means of saving them. Because he followed his gut instincts of prioritizing the phantom Crying Child that he always saw as more valid and real than the human being standing in front of him.
Because he haphazardly acted the Hero and let his body move without thinking.
And he wants to act sad about it now? I hope Nighteye materializes in his bedroom to sneer at him every night for the rest of his life.
--
Incidentally, fuck All Might, seriously. "Wow, Deku and Bakugou, you two are the greatest Heroes ever. Fuck me and everyone else who fought tooth and nail, arm and leg, eye and earjack, life and death, to contribute to the pile of damage that was necessary to kill and/or save Shigaraki and All For One. You two got the last blows in, so you're the only ones who get the credit for it in my eyes. Hero Society is definitely going to be different and better with you two around."

Ochako and Toga had undoubtedly the best bnha final arc. Perfect resolution for their relationship, amazing character development for Ochako and backstory treatment for Toga...
Toga made Ochako go above and beyond, true, but that's because Ochako was willing to do that for her. They are such an essential part of each other in the good sense— it happened between fights, true, but the results came with not from the hits, but from the words exchanged.
It started as two girls who have a crush on the same boy and ended up with two teenage women who recognized each other as people beyond the hero and villain status. Ochako recognized Toga's agency, respected it and chose to trust her with it and in return, Toga paid in full and saved Ochako's life with her own blood.
Ochako is really one of the only characters that discarded the hero and villain ideals and dared to care for them as humans. Deku is not an almighty god, he needs help. Toga is not a terrible monster, she needs help. Etc.
Hell, Ochako verbally recognized the importance of the League of Villains to Toga, recognizing that they loved her and she loved them. She granted the same sense to them that she granted Toga, the knowledge that they weren't monsters. She didn't care solely to stop them or save them or defeat them— she hoped to save Toga, to make Toga stop because she didn't want to continue, to dissolve the reason to fight altogether.
Ochako went straight to the root of the problem.
And for Toga, I find amazing the fact that she just disappeared after the resolution. She won in some sense because she got to live like she wanted! She was seen, she was loved, she was known!! She is the only winner out of the League of Villains and that's thanks to Ochako.
Is she dead? Is she alive? We don't know because Toga is no longer a villain and she is free from the narrative itself. She haunts Ochako, but she's free to live and be common now. A normal girl.
I love those girls very very much and I'm sooooo happy that they got the best bnha ending out of them all.

A Friendly Spar
For Tickletober Day 18: Tickle Fight
Late again!!! Because I also did not have a chance to edit it until last night!! Apologies, and curse real life obligations!
BUT I am caught up now and hopefully can get the rest of the fics i have for the month edited and posted on time lol
-------------------
Fandom: BNHA
Ship(s): EraserMic
Characters (lee/ler): Switch!Hizashi/Switch!Shouta
Word Count: 967 words
Summary: After so long, sparring has become a sort of love language.
[ao3 link]
-------------------
After fifteen years of friendship, and over a decade of romance, any relationship would develop its fair share of little quirks. One of their special little quirks was their love languages.
Oh, sure, they had the typical ones. Hizashi thrived on physical touch and words of affirmation (not Shouta’s strong suit at all, but he tried, and Hizashi loved him for that), and Shouta’s was undeniably acts of service. But the one love language they had perfectly in common?
Sparring.
It probably had something to do with growing up in the hero sphere, and training until they dropped during their formative high school years. Shouta especially had a tendency to work himself to exhaustion, always needing to be the best of the best. Somewhere along the way, between the two of them and Oboro (not to mention Nemuri and Tensei, at times), sparring became more enjoyable, and even fun at times.
It was something they carried with them well into adulthood, and working at UA certainly came with its perks to support that – like constant free access to any of the near-dozen gyms on campus, granted that there were no students using it at the time.
And sparring didn’t have to be serious, Hizashi thought as he dodged another swipe from Shouta’s devious fingers. In fact, their spars rarely managed to be serious anymore – they both got enough of that, between training the next generation of heroes and their own regular hero work. This particular spar had devolved almost immediately, both of them needing to let off a little steam after a long week of teaching and cases that went nowhere.
“You can’t run forever,” Shouta grunted, rebalancing himself on his toes after his failed strike.
“And you can’t chase me forever,” Hizashi said, spinning away.
He’d demanded Shouta remove his capture scarf for the spar – it gave him an unfair advantage that Hizashi was not willing to concede to that evening. He wasn’t that desperate for a laugh, at least not yet. No, right now he wanted even odds and a fair chance to win. He was dying to see that healthy, laughter-induced flush on Shouta’s cheeks as well, and nothing was going to keep him from his prize.
“I’ve chased more difficult opponents for longer. I think my stamina is up to par. Is yours?”
Hizashi gave him a salacious grin. “I didn’t hear you complaining last night, mister.”
“You’re incorrigible.”
“You love it.”
“I love you – have you considered the idea that there may be a difference?”
“Mmm, nope!”
Hizashi dodged another strike, this time redirecting it in order to bring himself closer to Shouta. He slipped one hand up Shouta’s loose muscle shirt, searching out any tickle spots he could find on the sweat-slicked skin. He used the other to pull Shouta close and hold him there, well aware he was leaving himself open for attack. It was no fun if Shouta didn’t fight back, after all.
“Dammit, Zashi!”
“What, does that tickle? Just a little? You can go ahead and laugh, I won’t tell anyone. Your scary reputation can stay intact.”
“Fuck you!”
“Been there, done that. Weren’t you listening?”
Though his squirming and escape attempts didn’t stop, Shouta buried his face into Hizashi’s neck, leaning his weight against Hizashi and huffing strangled breaths against his skin. Hizashi shivered, then squeaked. He grabbed Shouta’s hip to ground himself, only to finally make Shouta crack and huff a laugh into his neck.
“What, does that tickle?” Shouta chuckled against his throat, scruff and hot breath wreaking havoc on his nerves. “Just a little?”
“Wait, Shouta, please!” Hizashi’s giggles were high pitched and frantic, almost too thick to speak through.
Shouta’s own laughter, on the other hand, was deep and rich and only made his voice even more unfairly attractive. “You’re the one who grabbed me.”
That was true. Hizashi planted both hands against Shouta’s middle, preparing to shove him away, only for Shouta to grab his wrists in a vice grip. Before Hizashi could blink, he was spun around so his back was pressed to Shouta’s chest, arms crossed over his own chest as Shouta continued to grip his wrists and hold him close. Shouta’s face quickly found its way back to Hizashi’s neck, nuzzling and nibbling and huffing horribly ticklish breaths all over. Hizashi squealed, barely holding back his Quirk. They did not need the windows repairs taken out of their paychecks. Again.
“Perhaps,” Shouta whispered right up against the shell of his ear, “it would do you well to remember who your opponent is, and how frequently he kicks your ass.”
Hizashi shrieked and giggled and tried to kick back at Shouta’s shins. “Just you wait until I get your neck!”
“Oh no. I’m so scared.”
Gritting his teeth against his smile, Hizashi threw his weight backwards, catching Shouta off guard in a rare moment, and landed them both on the floor. This was serious now, and Hizashi didn’t intend to lose. He went for the kill immediately, straddling Shouta and shooting one hand back toward his thigh and the other toward his ear. On the other side of Shouta’s neck, Hizashi buried his face and did his best to nuzzle his mustache into the skin.
Shouta howled, trying to buck Hizashi off to no avail. Instead, he brought his hands up to vibrate into Hizashi’s ribs. Hizashi faltered for only a moment, fighting the urge to curl up into a ball and roll off Shouta for his own protection. Instead he steeled himself and forced himself to hold still, cackling into Shouta’s neck.
“Give up!” Shouta choked out through his laughter.
“You first!” Hizashi wheezed.
It was a good thing they had this gym booked for the next hour, because Hizashi doubted either of them would concede any time soon.

BnHA Chapter 428: Night of the Kouhai
Previously on BnHA: Well at least Spinner is sort of kind of doing okay??
Today on BnHA: I see the check that I sent to Horikoshi finally cleared.
okay first things first, you all know how it is right. I’ve never made a secret of my Kacchan bias on this blog. I promise you I did actually write a recap to 426 and 427 as well, but both of those chapters went HEAVY on the themes and drama and philosophical shit, and my reactions were kind of all over the place, and the Todoroki one in particular was like a million words wrong and it needs a shit ton of editing which I don’t know when I’ll have the spoons for
on the other hand however, a chapter like this which features class 2A cuteness and an absolutely unreasonable amount of Kacchan character development fanservice to hyperfixate on, takes absolutely no spoons at all and in fact actively recharges some of my spoons, so yeah. here we are
anyway so when we last left off Kacchan and Shouto were in terrible danger from a threat more terrifying than any they’ve ever encountered before. so I already knew this chapter was going to be great
“IIDA IS BIG AND STRONG AND AUTHORITATIVE, LET’S HIDE BEHIND HIM, HE WILL PROTECT US” everyone, I’m delighted to announce that the BnHA manga ending arc, despite having its ups and downs until this point, has officially been saved thanks to this panel right here. pack it up folks. this was officially a sweeping success. this panel brought Tomura back to life and teleported Touya’s mind back into his childhood self from roughly ten years ago time travel fix-it style. Horikoshi you beautiful bastard
Shouto trying to explain that he can handle them one on one but just not ALL TOGETHER IN THIS TERRIFYING SWARM LIKE THIS... buddy you don’t have to explain yourself sob. or is he trying to negotiate with them??
meanwhile Kacchan skips the negotiations entirely because he’s already assessed the situation and knows that the best way to handle this is to appeal to Iida Tenya’s boundless love of regulation and social order
y’all it’s killing me that this boy can handle being LITERALLY MURDERED by the greatest evil the world has ever known. but a group of admiring fifteen year old kouhais? no sir. that’s where he taps out
“but I thought Bakugou liked attention” yes well, you see, Shinsou, it’s kinda a “monkey’s paw curls” sort of thing
Kaminari with the BLACK SPEECH BUBBLE lmfao. FRIENDSHIP WITH KACCHAN HAS BEEN CANCELLED. NOW MIDORIYA IS MY BEST FRIEND
“well you see up until recently the ladies all thought Kacchan was a feral troll so they avoided him at all costs” wow Deku this man literally died for you and you just throw him under the bus with zero hesitation just like that
“SOURCE: ME, HIS CHILDHOOD FRIEND” just adding in his credentials in that little footnote there lest anyone question his authority on the subject
wait so is Shinsou surprised that girls used to not like Kacchan? or is he surprised that Kacchan and Deku were childhood friends? I can see how the latter might be surprising (oh Shinsou, sometimes I forget that you effectively just got here. we have so much to catch you up on. you will not BELIEVE how badly the two of these kids just want to hold hands all the time), but ngl, I’m rooting for the former just for the implications. “you’re seriously telling me a certified ten like him never had any girls interested in him?”
Horikoshi, hear me out, I know there are only two chapters left after this, and they’ve both already been written. but if you wanted to rewrite one of them at the last minute in order to add about a dozen more pages solely dedicated to Shinsou interrogating the rest of class 2A about Kacchan’s love life, out of what he insists is just innocent curiosity with no ulterior motives. well, I would not complain about that
anyway so yes Shinsou he is still single, for now. though I don’t really think it’s the girls you need to be worried about
meanwhile Mineta is all, “I just wanted to let all of you know MY opinion, which is that Bakugou isn’t morally upstanding enough for my delicate sensibilities.” yes you heard that right. Mineta of all people is weighing in on which personalities are deserving of being popular. that’s some audacity right there
A WILD DEKU FANBOY APPEARS???!
“IT GAVE ME COURAGE” omg yesssssss. jotting this down for essay material at some future point in time!! because THIS. this right here is the true “what it means to be a hero” in my opinion. a hero is someone who brings reassurance, yes. someone who makes people feel safe. but I think a hero should also be someone who makes people feel brave. someone who inspires other people to be heroic in turn. so yes, this, all of this, inject it into my veins. wtg Deku
having an official fanboy apparently broke Deku’s brain. hang in there bud. I know you’ve still got villain angst to work through, but try to enjoy this. you’re allowed to have nice things
IS MINETA STRANGLING KACCHAN BY HIS FUCKING TIE OMFG. THAT’S WHY HE NEVER USED TO WEAR THEM. also you’ve worn my patience down all the way now Mineta. get the fuck out of my blog
also Kacchan successfully beat the shit out of him with his ONE GOOD ARM so take that Mineta
also shoutout to this KiriBaku moment right here which feels like the first time we’ve had the two of them together in ages. good stuff
I’m LOVING this panel of Ochako staring at Deku all indecipherably, but ngl it’s also giving me just the slightest bit of anxiety, because does this mean we’re finally gonna get answers on what ultimately happened to Toga. it better not be sad. please don’t ruin my happy chapter with depressing things Horikoshi
“tell them no” OH MY GOD AIZAWA’S TURNING DOWN ALL THE INTERVIEW REQUESTS FOR HIS KIDS SO THEY CAN JUST BE KIDS AGAIN FOR A LITTLE WHILE nooooo what is this. “yeah but I’m prioritizing the kids who aren’t up for dishing to the media about all of their horrific trauma.” omfg. it’s been too long since my last Dadzawa feels. I wasn’t ready after all this time
you guys Izuku finally got a new hero costume that’s not in tatters after all this time. all it took was his old costume getting literally torn to shreds. and now he’s back to looking twelve years old again lol
JEANIST AND FATGUM REUNION?!?! RETURN OF KACCHAN’S THIRD DAD, AND A SECOND WACKY UNCLE TO BACK UP GOOD OLD MIC? GOD BLESS
FAT HIRED TAMAKI AS A SIDEKICK D’AWWWW
now they’re putting the kids to work. glorified janitorial duty. Deku you better not be using up any more of your embers on this sob
this motherfucker did not just liken my baby boy Kacchan to “distressed denim” omg. we have less than three chapters left and we’re spending our hard-earned time on this and I TRULY WOULD NOT CHANGE A SINGLE THING
“Kacchan on light duty” PROTECT HIM!!! don’t think I don’t see you over there too in the background, Aizawa. he’s surrounded by dads. they’re not letting him out of their sight again until he’s thirty
meanwhile he’s out here quietly sorting through trash with his one good hand without complaint and without even the barest hint of a gremlin face. with his half-and-half costume so we can’t see how fucked up his arm is. AND NO MORE MASK. we burned the mask. my thank you letters are in the mail, Horikoshi. and you too TomurAFO, this was your actual greatest contribution to society
ANOTHER DAD?!?!?!
dfjsdlfksldkfjl
“don’t worry, I’m gradually recovering” fsdfkslfkj r.i.p. my ability to take this man seriously ever again. do you think his voice is like the normal sexy Edgeshot ASMR voice except all high-pitched like a squirrel in a Disney princess movie. it is, isn’t it
he can make hands now. buddy you’re amazing. mvp of the entire fucking manga. my son literally owes you his life. please let me see you sitting Jeanist’s shoulder like a parrot before this wonderful glorious chapter ends
Kacchan’s little cheek scar is somehow both badass and adorable at the same time. I can’t stress how fucking much this chapter is just surrounding me with “protect him at all costs” feelings.
MORE SOFT KACCHAN FEELS ON THE NEXT PAGE BECAUSE HORIKOSHI WROTE THIS CHAPTER SPECIFICALLY FOR ME, THANK YOU SO MUCH
“are you... [ever] gonna go back to normal?” because if not he’s gonna cry himself to sleep every night for the rest of his life!! no big!! YOU WOULDN’T DO THAT TO HIM WOULD YOU EDGESHOT?
NO HE WOULD NOT. THANK YOU EDGESHOT. ONCE AGAIN YOU ARE A REAL ONE
...or wait. so does he mean he is indeed going to go back to normal eventually? or is it that he’s embracing this new form as an exciting new evolution, hence the “even further”? it kind of feels like the latter, ngl. especially with this weird sad little smile Kacchan gives in response... fuck me. what the hell am I gonna do when this series ends in two weeks. nobody can rip my soul to pieces as utterly and effortlessly as Horikoshi does, man
THEY MADE THE KIDS LUNCH AWWWW. though in fairness there’s something seriously messed up with Japan if any of these kids ever has to pay for another meal again for the REST OF THEIR LIVES. like come on
noooooo goddammit I’m tired of seeing Izuku quietly despairing over things that AREN’T HIS FAULT
I am glad to see this side of the civilian population, though. sure have come a long way since the low point that was the U.A. clown mob. I like this a whole lot better ngl
what’s up with this mysterious bus all of a sudden
OH MY GOD THEY’RE BACK LMAO. QUICKLY BAKUDADS. form a perimeter
they’re apologizing again dsfkjlskdfjlsfd THEY DIDN’T EVEN CONSIDER EVERYONE’S CIRCUMSTANCES!!! holy shit these first years are all collectively my new favorite character
Cementoss couldn’t take the pressure omfg. is this your first year as a homeroom teacher?? YOU CAN MAKE ANYTHING OUT OF CEMENT BUT CAN YOU MAKE YOURSELF A FREAKING SPINE, CEMENTOSS. I love him
Cementoss is telling them to go work in the corner so they don’t bother everyone else lmao. stuck them as far away from Kacchan as possible. good looking out, Cementoss. how many dads are we up to now?? five? six if we count Iida????
“hey so anyway what actually is up with these fucking kouhai though” I don’t know but my greatest regret is that this only became a thing three chapters before the series finale. where has this nonsense been all my life
“I don’t really understand” me neither fella but here in BnHA land we just roll with it
now we’re cutting back to Ochako who’s making yet another mysterious face that makes me think she knows perfectly well how much we all want to know whether Toga is alive or not, and she’s deliberately dragging it out just to fuck with us
okay I honestly can’t tell if Ochako is being fake cheerful or genuinely cheerful. but it’s definitely fake cheerful right??
aaaaand there’s a close up of Deku with FULL LIGHT back in his eyes like the clouds just parted for the first time in an age. accompanied by a THROB sound effect. ohhhh buddy. did my boy just have a hormone. is it finally that time
THEY’RE LETTING THE KIDS GO BACK HOME OMG. if they want. awwww. r.i.p. fanfic dorms. poor Shinsou missing out ONCE AGAIN
THEY DIDN’T CATCH THE CONCLUSION OF THE TOGACHAKO FIGHT ON FILM??! oh hell no. that settles it, she’s definitely still alive
tell me this cheeky motherfucker (Horikoshi, not Ochako lol) isn’t going to try and actually END THE SERIES with Toga’s fate still all ~mysterious~ and ~up in the air~ like I’m starting to get the sneaking suspicion that he’s doing
HORIKOSHI I SAID I DIDN’T WANT A DEPRESSING CHAPTER WHY ARE YOU HITTING ME WITH THESE FEELS AFTER I LET MY GUARD DOWN
YOU REALLY GAVE MY GIRL A SYMBOLIC FRODO STYLE ANGSTY STAB WOUND SO SHE CAN NEVER FORGET THE PAIN OF THAT DAY ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW WITH THIS
DEKU AHHHHHH
oh my god lol. I’m so curious what’s going to happen next week. my money for the record is on them bonding in a STRICTLY PLATONIC WAY over their respective dead(!??!?!) villains rather than a Romance Thing happening. but I wouldn’t be bothered if they do go there though just so long as we don’t get any timeskip epilogues where they’ve all got fucking kids and such now. don’t you do that to me Horikoshi Kouhei. I swear to god two chapters left omfg. this is really happening. the inexorable march of time etc. etc. ahhhhhhhhh

I'm really curious if people in the bnha subreddit know the meaning of character development when they say Bakugou changes and has better character development. Whenever I hear this sentence I'm like where tf is the change & development. He is the same guy he was from chapter 1. The only difference I've seen is he shouts less but that's it.
His apology to izuku was shit, his whole talk right after the apology about izuku's chosen path and ideals and how he was asking izuku to rely on him and shitty 1A was pure BS. The 2nd war proved how pathetic Bakugou and 1A were against AFO and my boi Shiggyband it also proved that Izuku was right to go vigilante and his reasons for doing it alone were right.
Also leading 1A's confrontation against Izuku, he never once took accountability for Izuku's mental state. Instead he blamed it on the one person who supported and was actually a positive influence to Izuku. He never opened up to anyone about how he abused and suicide baited Izuku.
He was being a prick to Fuyumi in the endeavour agency arc. Treated his team as lackeys and underlings in the JT arc. Bitched about how he wasn't included in the OFA meeting and disrespected the previous OFA holders. It was irritating that All might didn't tell him to get out for disrespecting Nana. Anyone other than Bakugou would've been a better sparring partner for Izuku during his blackwhip training.
Took izuku out and used him as his punching bag while gaslighting him for not revealing about OFA. Also why and how was he an inspiration to 1A when he didn't do shit for them. It should have only been Izuku.
Goes after the villains and gets himself captured even though he knew he was a prime target for LOV.
And why was he targeted by LOV? Thanks to his overall behaviour and track record from the sports festival fights with Uraraka and Shoto.
Even after knowing shoto's trauma, he still was being a POS to him.
They said he respected Uraraka in the sports festival but before the fight he told her to give up, looked down on her and never saw her as a threat. He was unnecessarily dragging the fight instead of ending it and used excess force in his explosion when it wasn't necessary considering it was just a sport and not a life or death battle. He later says "time to get serious" which means he never took her seriously which debunks Aizawa's claims and validates the audience's criticism of him. Even after the fight he still went and asked izuku if izuku had given a plan to her. This means he never thought Uraraka was capable of devising a strategy. So where was the respect in all this.
The subreddit always said he started to develop after the USJ arc but all the above arcs happened after USJ and none of them showed that he developed.
Hori literally bends the narrative to favour his pet and the bnha subreddit says "hurray character development", "he changed".
People actually claim that bakugo somehow started changing after the usj arc?!?! Really!!!
I personally don't think bakugo's character has had that big of a change at best I can say that he shouts a bit less but other than that there isn't much. The only reason that people think bakugo has changed is because the narrative tries to frame it that way and whenever bakugo does something that's outright wrong like punching Izuku it's painted as "oh that's just bakugo" or it's made into a gag that we are supposed to dismiss or laugh at.
Tumblr media
In my opinion it's not just MHA subbredit that believes in bakugo's "amazing" redemption and arc but it's a good chunk of the MHA fandom in general. Heck I remember coming across a post that showed how bakugo changed and @sapphic-agent debunked the post (Iam glad she did and she done it really well)
If bakugo were to properly be developed than a good chunk of his arc should be to develop out of his rivalry or his need for one.

MANGA SPOILERS, END OF BNHA
Lets start at the beginning, just to clear the air. A lot of fans (including myself at one point) thought mha was a story on how midoriya was going to become the number one hero. Which is incorrect
Tumblr media
He says ‘This will be my story, the journey to become the best of all heroes’. Now to clear the air again. At this time Midoryia was 14. The Midoryia that is narrating had graduated from UA, I'm sure there has been a time where he (Midoryia at 14)  said he wanted to become number one, but in that time that's all he knew. Him, Bakugou and all aspiring heroes at a young age assume to become the greatest is to become number one, When thats not the case at all.
When we first get introduced to this idea of true heroism is when we meet stain. We come to understand that iida’s motives to become a hero stems from his brother. Iida’s brother was left paralyzed via stain and unable to become a hero, this fueled iida’s passion to become a hero and to defeat the “hero killer”.
What stain says really changed the course of MHA
Tumblr media
(for context, before stains tries to finish iida off, he calls him and his brother weak. Iida, upset, yells at stain for calling his brother weak and defends his honor. Iida states ‘ill kill you’ to which stain replies, “Save him first”. Stain continues, telling iida that what he is doing is the furthest thing from becoming a hero.) Stain then recognizes Midoriya as a true hero. And iida starts to find his sense of heroism
Eventually class 1-A finds their sense of heroism one by one. Leading to Momo, Kirishima, Midoryia, and Iida all go against authorities and rescue Bakugou after the attack on the forest training camp arc.
The forest training arc had to be the most confusing for fans. This is because is Tsuyu Asui
A lot of fans (me included) wondered why Tsu compares the group to villains and discourages them from saving Bakugou. Well, this is the same reason why Mirio Toogata stopped Midoryia from saving Eri.
These characters both found heroism in a similar way. Both are taught to follow the hero code, wait until the authorities either handle the situation, or until they are called in for help.
THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM BAD CHARACTERS!! Anyone that knows me KNOWS i love the big three. But this does make the story a little more interesting, you cant teach heroism.
Both Mirio and Tsu are left feeling guilty in the aftermath
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though they both felt distraught, we start to see Mirio and Tsu started to carve their path for heroism. Im not saying that Tsu and Mirio didnt have heroic traits since both are in the hero course to save others. But Midoryia demonstrated to them that to become a true hero is to act.
Lets talk about Dynamight
Bakugo has been with Midoryia since childhood, and has seen midoryia want to become a hero. Even when he is quirkless. It (in my opinion) is not an easy thing to grasp for Bakugou.
Imagine living in a world fulled with strong powers and amazing heroes. Where quirks that are “useless” dont get to become heroes, instead they have normal jobs. Crime is arising and heroes are fighting tooth and nail to save the world while losing loved ones in the process. You are now 4, and your quirk is explosion, you are praised by everyone since showing the classroom your new power. You can see it now, you becoming just as great as your idol. Imagine your face when you find out your best friend became unlucky, and became quirkless. Imagine your face when they still want to be a hero. Sounds like a death wish, right?
I feel like bakgou cares about midoryia. Does he have a wrong way of showing it in childhood, yes.
Baukgou states that he feels like hes always behind. Bakugou feels completely side wiped at the idea that his quirkless classmate actually had a very powerful quirk. This also makes him feel as though Midorya is the one looking down at him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bakugou has shown the MOST character development i have seen in MHA. (my opinion of course). I think its very refreshing to see them both learn from each other. Dynamight learns to become a true hero and Deku learns courage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[There are more examples of deku imitating bakugou.. I can not find them :( ]
I always see the same argument within the fandom, “Why does Mineta get to be in the hero course and not Shinsou”. Mineta has a strong physical quirk that allowed him to pass the entrance exam. (and not to mention he placed 9/20 in the end of the term test).
((To clear the air. i am NOT a Minteta fan. But the fans constantly fails to understand how he is in the hero course. it was never about 'How cool is your quirk?' it was 'Can you defeat a robot?'))
Tumblr media
I think what the fandom means to say is that quirks like Shinsou are often slept on.. But why?
In the society of MHA, there is a common conception that a strong quirk is the gateway to becoming a hero, especially number one. This is extremely emphasized when we are introduced to the entrance exam for Yuuei. This is completely rigged for characters with non physical quirks like; Aizawa, Shinsou, Monoma, and more.
Obviously this is not true. Even though he is not in the top 3, Aizawa has a powerful quirk that he had to learn how to strengthen and control on his own. He walked so that Shinsou can run.
The reason why i mention Monoma is because him and Shinou are very similar. They’re quirks depends on someone else. They can activate it all they want but if the recipient is not interacted with they are both ‘useless’.
I’m unsure if this is true, but I'm glad Monoma gets a statue. It opens up a window for those who don't have physical quirks. It shows that even they can become heroes.
In my opinion, Midoryia having a statute instead would not have been as impactful. It would have pushed the same narrative. Strong physical quirk = success. ((Also! did everyone just forget that Monoma literally carried the war along with Aizawa by keeping Shigaraki’s quirk erased and was able to copy Kurogiri’s quirk and teleport the heroes to the field?? That kid deserves a metal. ))
Tumblr media
The only sad feeling i have about the ending is Midoryia losing the embers. Seeing him grown up and releasing the gifted power as if saying “thank you” still brings me to tears. To see him hon the powers and get stronger then to release them will always stab me in the heart. BUT THIS ENDING MAKES PERFECT SENSE.
Why, would Midoryia, knowing the trouble it carries, the pain it can do to the human body, would give that quirk to another? Its a good ending to finally have that power rest. Imagine that quirk got passed on again. Whoever has it next would have become number one easily, society would have learned nothing.
Midoryia becoming a teacher at Yuuei, and trying to open his own hero agency is the perfect ending for my hero academia. Teaching and aspiring others with different quirks. And we all know how he loves learning about other quirks and mutations. This is perfect for him!
‘So.. it was all for nothing?’ you might ask. If you do believe everything Midoryia did was for nothing then im sorry, you did not watch My Hero Academia.
Midoryia did not become number 1. But he most definitely became the greatest hero.
If you think being the greatest means to be number one then you have completely lost the plot of My hero. Being number 1 is not about heroism, its statistics. When you start bringing numbers into this, it starts to become a job. When you start to want to become a hero only for money you are not a true hero. Uraraka joined because she needed money, but her point of view changed. Sure now she gets money but that's not her main focus anymore. She wants to save, she wants to help others like Toga. When you want to become a hero for fame like Denki, you are not a true hero. Denki’s focus has changed. This is exactly what Stain was talking about in the beginning, society creating fake heroes.
Tumblr media
Those are my thoughts. I love this anime so much please feel free to comment your thoughts and feelings

It's hard to believe that people actually dislike Izuku for "What he stands for" or the fact he's a flawed character when for years, years now people will hate on him for less.
This is the same fandom I have seen some people say Aoyama, a child who didn't actually have a choice, got off "too light".
Same fandom where some people will call Horikoshi a misogynist and then turn around and reduce the female characters to nothing but love interests and future wives. Some of you still only see Ochako as a girl with a crush. Some of you like to bash on Miruko's uniform and people only being horny for her and yet still won't say anything about the male character's costumes and are also horny for those characters yourselves.
Same fandom, now, that will ignore a character's development and that character has admit to being an ass and still be like "He didn't develop at all" and even worse? That character is a child. A child who never even is awarded for his behavior. In fact, often times is punished by the narrative in some way. And yes, I am talking about Katsuki.
Same fandom where some people will attack others over ships. And with shipping, that's the only time some of you will "care" about these characters. Izuku is the main victim of that!!
Same fandom who will be like "fanon is better" when fanon is actually worse.
Same fandom who at a time actually hated the villains, still do and even going as far as to making fun of some of their appearances (like Shigaraki and Dabi)... and really only started to "care" when they "showed out" during the Villain Arc. And by "care" I mean, only finding Shigaraki and Dabi hot as hell and still don't understand their characters. And even if you get why the villains do what they do, some of you still won't acknowledge they're in the wrong, too.
What about the minor villains who just want to cause havoc? For all we know, some of them may come from good homes and just want to be menaces to society. The heroes aren't completely good people either, but don't act as if it's every single one of them who do it for fame (Rock Lock is an example of a hero doesn't actually sees being a hero as a JOB) and every villain has some "excuse" because they don't.
In the case of Izuku Midoriya, some of you will say that Vigilante Deku was the best version of him. No. No, it's not. It was the worst version of himself.
It's not because he was a vigilante. It was because he wasn't taking care of himself. In what way is that the best version of anybody? Neglecting your health?
BNHA: Vigilantes is a perfect story that shows vigilantes not neglecting themselves and still doing what they needed to do to save people.
Often times when I do cross Vigilante Deku fanworks, it's like a totally other character.
My grievance with people "criticizing" Izuku isn't because of what he stands for. Their attitude will come off like he shouldn't have flaws.
Yes, he is a teenager who can only do so much and even as he gets older he can only still do so much because he is still just one person. But he can learn. He still has a long way to go even after however the story ends. Is he not suppose to learn or what?
Question: If Toga dies, will you hate Uraraka? If Spinner dies, how about the other characters? Will you hate them?
Kurogiri is gone but I don't see people hating Aizawa and Yamada.
"But it wasn't their fault! They were trying!"
And Izuku wasn't? Was it Izuku's fault that Shigaraki turned out the way he did?
Izuku wasn't the problem. He tries to be the solution and yes, sometimes it's a flawed solution.
But he shouldn't be the only character the fandom chooses to criticize and hate on for his flaws.
"But he's the main character!" Played out excuse. Played out, it's ridiculous. You're telling me that you're choosing to hate Izuku because he's a flawed main character?
Bullshit. So a character's position in a story is why you're choosing to hate him?
Even though other main characters before and after him have are loved and practically fucking worshipped and yet will have just as much flaws or even more?!
There are folks who love a character despite being gross as hell and they're not the main character. So that "main character hate" is bullshit.
For me, I will hate or love a character not because of their position in story but because of how they are as a character. Sometimes, it just so happens they are the main character. Sometimes, they're not.
Of course, their role can play a part as to how they're written.
Honestly, again, it's hard for me to believe people are "criticizing" Izuku for what he "stands for" when this fandom has shown me countless times the amount of bullshit it will pull. This fandom? Really? Same fandom who will adore other characters for less? Hate characters for less? Who come up with cold ass takes that do not make sense?
What? Exactly what kind of character Izuku Midoriya is meant to be? I'm curious, I really am! (No, no, I'm not.)
Because what it seems to me that even if Izuku was "perfect", the fandom will hate him no matter what.
"BNHA is cop propaganda!" Really? Because the police force here seems pretty "useless" to me. (A lot of the work is done by the heroes.) Sometimes, I forget they even exist until I see like Sansa or another police officer. (Actually, I be forgetting Sansa is a cop.) They're not even the main focus. Maybe it's just me, but BNHA comes off as a story that shows the ongoing cycle of what a previous generation's actions will do to shape the next generation and what that next generation may do to change. It's just that it's being told through heroes and villains and in between.

Our Hero Academia:My Bnha rewrite/fixit
'Our' instead of 'My' because the protagonist role is shared by our Big Three:Izuku,Shouto and Momo. They're official title is 'The Tea Trio' because Izuku's name means 'green' and 'spring' and i associate tea with springtime and Shouto and Momo's canonical love for tea
Inko is half sudanese so Izuku is blasian and so is Momo as the daughter of a japanese-dominican woman and an afro-mexican man while Shouto is fully asian but biracial as well,Rei being half bangladeshi.Izuku ends up developing chronic pain due to the mix of One For All usage and Bakugou's lifelong violet physical assaults towards him and needs crutches,Momo has a hodgepodge of neurodivergent disorders with adhd, autism, anxiety AND ocd and Shouto is blind in his scar eye and Izuku and him are autistic like her too and Momo is fat because of her quirk
Momo's adultification trauma is explicit and intentional instead of heavy accidental subtext,Bakugou is an antagonist all the way through and a metaphor for ableism and male privilege and Endeavour is given zero grace while Rei is a fleshed out character as they all deserve
Izuku is agender without a specified agab,Momo is a trans girl and Shouto is transmasc genderfluid with neutral, feminine and androgynous gender presentation respectively. As stated they're our core mcs but not the only ones!!
The whole main cast is them,Toshinori,Rumi, the rest of 'The Tea Blend Crew' made up of Hitoshi,Kirishima,Jirou,Mina,Eri and Himiko and Dabi and him,Momo,Shouto and Izuku the 'Jumbo Tea Quartet'.Toshinori is a he/him butch lesbian and has a sidestory romance with Inko and all the other Tea Kids are blasian latinos like Momo except Himiko, who is half african-american!
Todomomo,Shinmido and Minajirou are canon and the rest of The Tea Blend Crew see eachother as found siblings.Togachako,Miruyumi and Dabitwice are also canon!
The series is kicked off with 'Midoriya Izuku:Origin' but shortly followed up by 'Yaoyorozu Momo:Origin' as Momo and Izuku become eachother's first ever friends and Shouto's debut into the main cast is the same because it's too iconic and dear to me for me to change it.Momo's already befriended Jirou and Mina by then and same for Izuku befriending Kirishima but Hitoshi is transfered to the hero course post-Sports Festival.Momo also had a private talk with Bakugou over his bullying of Izuku telling him to leave him alone only to end up crying in fear at his outburst, calling and accusing her hurtful things over her being a girl nerd and 'well-developed'.She created a staff and hit him in the crotch with it on live tv for it when he was tied up in his 'feral' state for it
The Tea Trio is finally complete as of Yaoyorozu Rising and they have a lot of solo bonding just the three of them to set them up as the core of Oha.Not to say the Tea Blend Crew dosen't get their own pagetime!!It's revealed Jirou got bullied growing up because of being a black goth transfem butch and has bpd as a result,Mina is the biokid of a cis gay x seahorse dad couple and grew up taking dance classes,Kirishima has lesbian biomoms too and used to self-harm out of insecurity over his natural fatness and Hitoshi was raised by his abuela who was the only person who ever cared about him and got his love of cats from her and they get a good deal of bonding with eachother and them too!!Kicking ass together too ofc! They all hate Bakugou and make a thing of roasting him for how awful he's been to all of them multiple times yet all at different points.Izuku starts to loose his illusion of Bakugou being a good person when he tries to protest against their words but can't find an actual defense
The Tea Blend Crew training partners, teenage dirtbag best friends, study buddies and a hero team! They have their own group chat named 'The Tapioca Vine'(dosen't make sense on purpose LMFAO),schedueled hangouts,a secret abandoned technologically advanced gym they found on accident they use as their training base and dubbed it 'Our Hero Spotter',no personal space when it comes to eachother and matching rings!I'll get to those later :] Oh but also their theme song is 'Adventricular' by Sesamoid♡First Time Friends Turn Into Forever!!
The Bakugou rescue arc still happens but Jirou,Mina and Hitoshi take Iida's place and it's a decoy plot for the beginning of Momo's Destruct arc.Dabi and Momo kept running eachother by genuine accident which led to him discovering her importance to Shouto so he used those accidental encouters to radicalize her to get at Shouto and all the sympathy thrown at Bakugou and the stark contrast to how awfully Hero Society including U.A treats her despite having worked her entire life to earn her place in the hero world just to not get it made it hit the mark.Kirishima getting the Fatgum intership over her rubbed very lemony salt in her wounds so as soon as they rescued Eri just as she'd promised herself, she joined the League of Villains as Destruct in secret from her friends.Himiko and her are pretty much sisters
And S'mores Siblings accidentally became real by the time she joined.Momo and Dabi had come to truly love eachother as family because he'd treated her better than any other adult in her life before and even without the comparison he was a good older brother figure and even pseudo-dad to her and he was actually enjoying spending time with her as an intergenerational friendship and mentorship and her and Jin were the first people he'd truly loved after his 'death',greatly helped by them understanding his misfit status(abusive perfectionist parents who treated them awfully as a neurodivergent child/stigmatized mental illness and physical disability that's not 'sexy' to normies).Momo is pastel punk and kidcore in aesthetic AND personality and lifestyle at that point, including Dabi giving her a side shave and pink dye.Momo hacked her parents banks to donate all their money to charity and use some of it for herself and for gifts for her loved ones too
Himiko connects with the TBC through Momo without letting them know she's a villain and infiltrates U.A to hang with her and makes a huge spectacle of herself on purpose,to Momo's embarrasment. She ends up legit joining the friend group and falling for Ochako for real instead of mutual obssesion.Izuku and Shouto's own arcs chronicle Izuku's attempts to live with disability,be a true hero AND experience teenagehood to the fullest and Shouto's relathionships with his family, learning how to be a real kid-including going goth punk for that weirdkid swag, his quirk on multiple levels and his true love by choice with Momo and vice versa on that last one as Todomomo is an unremovable aspect of eachother. They complete eachother, not just half and half and feel like their own people yet two yet the same
Jirou's gotten way more hardcore on every level,in attitude and in aesthetic and in tactics but as positive character development and Mina is a little bit of everything as she's too chaotic to be held down. That makes them the perfect love interest's for the other and are as snuggly and mushy as Todomomo but with Tsundere Jirou and Tease Mina.Kirishima can't help but let himself be louder and larger and heroicer as he looses ALL sense of shame in the best way possible and him accidentally embarrasing others with it becomes a running gag.Hitoshi's quite taken with trying all life will give him he didn't get to experience, including dating Izuku, and realizing the true meaning of his quirk:Putting his foot down on mistreatment, towards him AND fellow victims as he uses it to get Bakugou to fess up in front of almost the whole school staff so he gets expelled.Izuku is so overjoyed and relieved he hops onto him to kiss him right then and there and loud cheering from Class 1-A ensues, including several 'IT'S ABOUT TIME's and wolfwhistles equivalents
TBC rings were diy'd by them! They're those big see through-ish rings you see indie girl characters wearing so often and they each have cordinated colors for eachother and a charm inside:Green and a bunny for Izuku, white and red and a cat for Shouto, pink and yellow and a rose for Momo, deep red and a wolf for Kirishima, lavender and a guitar pick for Jirou, hot pink and a ballerina for Mina, purple and a hypnosis eye for Hitoshi, gold and a blood drop for Himiko, pastel blue and a unicorn for Eri and a bonus for the honorary member in Dabi with a deep blue and an azure flame. The Jumbo Tea Quartet get their own subcategory because of Todosiblings + S'mores Siblings follow up to Izuku and Dabi familial dynamic too.Dadbi is real y'all
Eri is adopted as their baby sister because of how she's always at the dorms and dosen't get on the field but is a major character as a symbol to fight for the next generation but also humanized and written like a realistic 6 year old.Rumi's debut gives her the connection to the Todofam Hox didn't deserve as Fuyumi's celebrity crush turned best friend turned girlfriend and Hox gets his ass beat by Momo who saves Jin just in time and Dabi kills Hox away from her eyes to not traumatize her.The Final War arc leads to the disenmantling of the pro-hero system to replace it with a good system instead by our local teenage anarchists with help from All-Might and the Lov in a new era of unity.Rei kills Enji,Dabi and Jin get married,Himiko and Ochako get their happy ending,Momo's new codename is Creadora,Shouto is Freezerburn and Izuku is Mighty Girl.Todomomo Endgame happens too and all's right in Our Hero Academia/Oha.We deserved better just like they did

Hi...if you don't mind, can I ask something from BNHA? What do you think are Midoriya and Bakugou’s greatest personality strengths and weaknesses? Why? What do you love about their dynamic? Since what moment that you start shipping them? Sorry if you've answered these questions before.....
(Okay so I kinda realized at the end that this actually turned into a complete BKDK personality analysis and dynamic breakdown, so sorry in advance lmao)
Hi, of course! I actually love analysis so I don't mind talking about their characters and dynamic. Though I do have to say that if I wanted to make a full on analysis, it would probably take me hours, if not days 😂 when I say their characters and dynamic are literally the deepest and most complex out there, I mean it.
But to answer your first question:
Let's talk about Bakugo first.
I think throughout the entire manga, his character has literally been laid bare in front of the whole world to see. His character development was one of the most important aspects in the entire manga, and we have a ton of resources to analyze his character on. If I were to answer what his greatest strengths and weaknesses are on a superficial level, I'd say this: his weakness is that he hides his true feelings behind a mask of anger, and he's so intent on dealing with his problems alone that he ends up pushing people away. His greatest strength is his ability to never give up on winning, his determination to succeed and become his best, and strongest self.
But that is not entirely true. In reality, his weakness comes from his insecurities, his fear of showing vulnerability to others. Throughout his whole life, everyone praised him for his quirk and told him he'd be the best hero out there, and because of this, he has developed an unhealthy superiority/inferiority complex. He's afraid that he'll fail, because in his mind, his whole persona, his whole self worth is developed around the strength of his quirk and the desire to become the number one hero. He's too afraid to accept his "human" side and human emotions. Thus, he feels like he always has to maintain this image of perfection, being on top of the food chain so that no one sees past his façade and sees just how insecure and sensitive he really is inside.
And his greatest strength? It's not about winning or never giving up. His greatest strength is how sensitive, how fiercely loyal he is at his core. His trust is very hard to earn, but once someone does earn his trust and respect, he will devote his entire LIFE to that person. Initially, it's very hard to break down his walls, and on the outside he seems like someone that only cares about himself and his own goals, but that's so far from the truth.
Just look at his relationship with Deku over time. Bakugo wanted to ignore him and push him away at first, because he triggered Bakugo's deepest insecurities, he saw right through him, he saw the person he was past that anger. And over the manga, Deku has broken down his walls little by little, earned his understanding, his trust, his respect. He broke his walls down until there was nothing left to hide for Bakugo anymore. And once that happened, Bakugo gave Izuku his all, his 100%. His care, his life, his devotion. Because once you look deeper, you'll see that Bakugo's biggest strength lies in his selflessness, and how he'll put the people that mean the most to him above everything, even his own self.
So now, what about Midoriya? Well, in all honestly, I still have absolutely no idea. It irks me to this day when I read fanfictions that simplify Midoriya's character so much that he ends up just being this crybaby version of himself who puts everyone above himself and is too kind of a soul for this world. That might be true in a sense, but that's also far from what his true character really is about. It's like when you see him first, you see this simple version of him that he shows to the whole world, but as you get to know him, the outer layer starts to peel off and you start to see the inner layers of him. Except, when you thought that you finally got to know all the sides to him, you suddenly find yourself face to face with yet another layer.
It's very hard to pin down his character, which is generally true for most INFJs. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and he completely stays true to his character, his core essence is rock-solid and immutable, yet for some reason, it's impossible to understand him, because he probably doesn't understand himself either.
So in short: his weakness is that he always puts everyone above himself and doesn't care about his own well-being, and his greatest strength is that he always follows his dream and his desire to save others, even when life throws all odds against him.
Long answer (buckle up): through his entire childhood, he has been bullied for being quirkless, for simply being who he is. He had to learn from a very young age that he has no worth, that his existence is meaningless, and his life is absolutely worthless (which has been even more solidified after Bakugo told him to take a swan dive). It has been practically beaten into his brain and mindset that he, as a person, doesn't mean anything. In his mind, he doesn't have a sense of self. His core essence, his raw character has been built around his dream of being a hero, his desire to save others. His sense of self is built upon a base of a desire, a dream. Not his personality, not his character, not who he truly is as a person inside. Nor he, nor anyone else has cared to learn more about him, about who he is as a person.
So, to put it simply, his core character is versatile, unpredictable, and unknown, even to himself. His weakness is that he is constantly misunderstood, and that no one will ever be able to understand who he really is inside. The fact is that he and Bakugo are two sides of the same coin. On the outside, it would seem like Bakugo is the one who's misunderstood, who hides himself behind a mask, and Deku is the one that wears his heart on his sleeve, and is open with his emotions.
In reality, Bakugo is the one that is true to his own character, meanwhile Midoriya is the person whose real personality hides behind his mask of cheerfulness, hope, optimism and determination, whether he knows it or not. He never once stopped to think about himself, so he wears this mask completely subconsciously, and even if he wanted to, he probably wouldn't know how to NOT be like this. So, basically his weakness is that he hides and bottles up his real emotions, and most of the time even he doesn't know it. Like y'all thought Bakugo was the repressed one? News flash, Deku is the true repressed MF, he is the one that pushes down his "unwanted" emotions and desires.
Just a couple of examples: when his desire to win surpasses his desire to save and he starts to imitate Bakugo. Why? Because his whole persona is built around the desire to save, yet when these "unwanted", supressed emotions surface, he copies the image of what that emotion is supposed to look like. AKA, copies Bakugo, because the image of desiring to win is the image of Bakugo inside of his head, so he mirrors Bakugo's personality during those moments.
Another example? He literally gave up on winning during the Sports Tournament and hurt himself over and over again just to prove his point. He's not as innocent and sweet as people think he is, he purposefully riled up Todoroki just to prove his point. He's stubborn, reckless, and spiteful to the point he did THAT just to win an argument.
And the Control your heart moment? That was literally THE biggest weakness that Shigaraki even exploited and used against him, because he saw the side that Deku tried so hard to suppress, and he knew that hurting Bakugo was the one thing that could get that side out of him. But I'll talk more about that later.
So, with that out of the way, what about his strengths? Well, in the short answer, I said that it was his ability to keep pushing forward and chase his dreams even when life throws all odds against him. Which isn't false, because that is indeed probably his biggest strength. Since he's kind of a "chameleon", he's able to adapt and devote his own self to the one cause and desire that he built it upon. Which is his dream to save others and become a hero. But that's not all there is to his character. His strength is the ability to devote his entire character, his sense of self, his energy, his everything to one specific goal that he sets his mind to. That what makes him Midoriya Izuku. It's that inner strength to be able to devote his 100% to his beliefs and what he wants. And when he does, it's impossible to stop him. What does he believe in? Saving others and helping them, no matter what. What does he want? Well, most of the time, it's to become a hero and do exactly that, save others. Some other times, it's to win. Other times, he simply wants Bakugo, which is a raw possessiveness that even he cannot control sometimes(which I'll also explain in a bit). We'll never understand what he's fully capable of, because we'll never understand every side and emotion there is to him deep down. Only one thing is for sure, that he is someone who pushes forward to reach his dream and follow his beliefs with all his heart, no matter how many times he's pushed down. Is it unhealthy? Probably. Safe to say that Midoriya still has a lot to learn and figure out, even more so than Bakugo did.
Okay, that did actually end up pretty long, but anywayyy
Onto next question:
What do I love about their dynamic? Well, more like what do I NOT love 😂 I mean if people thought their characters were deep, they're in for even more of a surprise. Because if there is one thing deeper and more complex than anything in the world, then it's their relationship and dynamic.
I mean, you mix two characters together that literally steal every single trope there is, enemies to lovers, rivals to friends, childhood friends, forced proximity, twin flames, soulmates, literally EVERYTHING
What do you get? A whole lot of complicated shit, that's what
First, let's see what Bakugo's perspective is in the whole relationship. The School Briefs Snowy Mountain Camping chapter basically gave us a complete explanation on Bakugo's perspective of Midoriya and the reason he behaved the way he did with him. There was always something that irked him, something that creeped him out about Midoriya, and that something is Midoriya's habit of meddling with other people's problems and caring about them, even when he doesn't need to. Young Katsuki realized that this is exactly what being a hero is about, and he knew deep down that Izuku's core essence was much closer to the ideal of being a hero than himself was. And that triggered his insecurities, because he thought that Deku was better than him, he thought that Deku was much closer to achieving that dream of being a hero than he was.
So, Bakugo developed a superiority complex and disguised that deep-seated fear as rage, and settled for denial for years. That is until they entered UA, and he started to understand and accept the fact that Deku didn't look down on him, but actually cared for him. His anger subdued, but for a long while, there was still something that frustrated him and pissed him off to no end about Midoriya.
His own anger came from inability to explain what was the thing that still irritated him. He was essentially angry at himself for being in denial for so long, and then for not being able to explain what it was that angered him about Deku, even when he knew he wasn't looking down on him. But then, he realized what caused his irritation. To quote him, "Deku never took his own needs into account, always giving 100% of himself to whatever cause had his attention". He feared that Deku's pure, genuine spirit would collapse under its own weight some day, bringing it all crashing down. In other words, he was afraid for him, because he saw how amazing of a person he was inside, and he knew Izuku would rather bear the weight of the whole world on his shoulders than to share the pain with anyone else. This is when he realized he cared for him.
Everyone else cared about Izuku too, but Bakugo was the only one who saw this, and who saw who Izuku was at his core. Unlike everyone else, he wasn't surprised when Izuku left UA during his Vigilante Arc, because deep down he knew this was bound to happen some day. And he took it upon himself to apologize to Izuku, lay himself and his own weakness bare in front of him, in the rain. Which is something that goes against who he was before that. But he showed Izuku that he had his complete trust in him, and told him to share that responsibility of OFA with him. At this point, Bakugo has long threw away what held him back from accepting his connection with Izuku. It wasn't even about the desire to surpass him anymore. He knew that was futile because in his eyes, Izuku was such an amazing person that he knew he'd never be able to surpass him. "Hey, Izuku...Can I still catch up to you?"
He accepted the defeat, that he wasn't a better person, that he wasn't the best. Because time and time again Izuku showed him how amazing he was. So Deku isn't the only one who views Katsuki as amazing. Katsuki just needed time to come to terms with it. But once he did, he completely devoted himself to Izuku, he died for him, he devoted 8 years to him after the war just so he can become a hero again. He doesn't care about him being quirkless anymore, none of that means anything to him anymore. All that's left inside him is the pure, genuine desire to have Izuku by his side for the rest of his life. Izuku will always remain more special to him than anyone else.
His love for Izuku goes much deeper than platonic or romantic, and that's the beauty in it. Izuku has earned every kind of love that Bakugos could give him. And it couldn't have been anyone else, because in order for Bakugo to have this deep of a connection, they needed to have a mutual background, they needed to have history. Bakugo needed that person to see him for who he is at his rawest, he needed someone to accept his feelings and understand who he truly is, and how he became who he is, what made him into who he is today. And that person could have only been Izuku. Because Izuku has been there since the very beginning, Izuku showed a mirror to Bakugo and made him face his own flaws. Izuku made Bakugo accept his own flaws and realize that he isn't perfect, just like everyone else. Without Izuku, he would have never realized what it meant to be a true hero, and that he needs to accept the other side of the coin too.
And for Izuku, he always saw Kacchan as amazing, ever since Day 1, and he viewed him as his image of victory. I mentioned before how he built his core personality around the dream of becoming a hero, but that was not all. There is another pillar that holds his life, holds his dream together, and that is Katsuki. He had this ideal that came from All Might, but like Izuku said, Kacchan was the one in his life. Izuku's body only moved on it's own once he realized it was Katsuki in danger. In Izuku's mind, Katsuki is the image of what victory is supposed to look like. Or, to sum it up, Katsuki is the reason Izuku was able to achieve his dream of becoming a hero(which I also explained in one of my other analysis).
Why is this important? It's because Izuku can't imagine a world without Katsuki in it.
There is a reason why it's always "Kacchan and the others". It's not simply because Kacchan is his closest friend. It's because Bakugo means more than anything to him. Bakugo is the one pillar in Deku's life that's always there, that he can always rely on. If you take that away, his entire core would collapse, because there would be nothing holding it together anymore. Like in that new Blue Encount MV that came out, and how it was Kacchan's hand that held together his shattered dream.
Because Katsuki is the one who he shares that dream with. Both of their dreams were born at the same moment, their literal core is tied together with eachother. This is why Izuku told Bakugo the secret of OFA so easily. The two of them together were the ones that held that responsibility, that knowledge that came with OFA. And to prove it to you, let me talk about his Vigilante Arc, and when the whole class came to convince him to come back.
Right at the last moment when Izuku was at his breaking point, this is what the second user said:
“If there’s anything that could bolster Midoriya Izuku right now, it would be…”
And who did the next panel show? Bakugo.
Bakugo said he wanted to talk with Izuku, and Izuku knew that if he heard him out, he wouldn't be able to resist, he wouldn't be able to hold it together anymore. That's why he ran away without talking to him, but it didn't work out. And when Bakugo apologized to him, it was over. The one person that meant more to him than the whole world, apologized for everything he has done, and showed him that he WANTED to be there by Deku's side, which is what Izuku has wanted ever since they were children, yet he gave up the hope of ever being able to talk normally with Kacchan again. And now here he was, doing just that, and it broke something in him. He wasn't able to hold himself together anymore, to keep up his façade of wanting to bear the responsibility on his shoulders only. It was Katsuki's words that made him give in and share the burden, accepting that he doesn't have to do it all alone.
It was always Kacchan, and it was always the others.
And why was it that he always lost control of his heart when Bakugo was in danger and threatened to be taken away from him? Like when he was kidnapped. It's because Katsuki isn't just simply a really close friend. It's because Katsuki is literally his ideal, his image of victory. If he was taken away from him, that would rock Midoriya's entire mindset, his entire world. Katsuki is something that his childlike self desperately needs to hold onto, because without him, Izuku would be lost. The one thing would be gone that was always in his life, that gave him the meaning of being a hero. Take Kacchan away from him, and you literally rip half of his heart out. Without Kacchan, he's incomplete. So when he screamed "Give me MY Kacchan back!", it was because he literally felt so threatened that it awakened a raw possessiveness inside of him.
Just like when Monoma insulted Kacchan. Midoriya didn't lose control simply because he talked badly about Bakugo. It was because to him, it felt like a personal attack to the core essence of who HE is. It felt like it was a direct attack on Midoriya's beliefs, like someone just insulted his entire mindset that he has believed in ever since childhood. It's literally true, an attack on Bakugo is a personal attack towards Izuku as well.
So now we understand why he went crazy when he lost Katsuki. His entire inner world was shaken up, threatening to collapse in on itself. If we think about it, it isn't so surprising that he went feral over Bakugo's death. He lost control of his heart, because Katsuki is the one in his heart. Who Izuku is today has been directly influenced by Kacchan in his life. Losing Kacchan means losing a part of himself.
And this is exactly why I absolutely love their dynamic. They mean so much to each other, and their love for each other grows so much deeper than just romantic or platonic. They mean the world to each other. They are soulmates, they are twin flames, their entire life and persona is so tied together with each other that it's impossible to say where one of them ends and the other begins. Because they are two halves of a whole, and their love and connection is something that we are unable to comprehend. It goes way beyond simply loving each other.
And to answer your last question,
well I technically started shipping them since Deku vs Kacchan 2, but I kind of already were shipping them in a way ever since Episode 1. Not in a romantic sense, but I immediately saw that there was much more to their connection than with anyone else. But Deku vs Kacchan 2 fight scene definitely took the cake 😂 nothing will ever top the tension they had during that episode...like okay, before I would have accepted that there wasn't anything romantic between them, but after that? KISS GODDAMNIT
Okay so this has kind of turned into a veeery long analysis, sorry, I talk too much 🤣 I hope I answered all your questions 💚

Bnha Season 7 Interview: Shimono Hiro (Dabi) and Uchiyama Koki (Shigaraki)
Animate Times released an interview with the Japanese voice actors for Dabi (Shimono Hiro) and Shigaraki (Uchiyama Koki) to talk about season 7, which will begin to release in May.
Tumblr media
Below is a quick translation of the interview, where they reflect on their characters' developments, season 6 and talk a bit about the upcoming season.
Q = Question UK = Uchiyama Koki (Shigarki’s VA) SH = Shimono Hiro (Dabi’s VA)
Q: Looking back to season 6, what are some of the most memorable scenes?
UK: Season 6…
SH: There were too many. For me, it’s definitely "Dabi’s Dance" (ep. 124). It was really painful that I couldn't say anything until then! It was the moment when I could finally let it out. Just as Touya was training at Sekoto Peak over and over again, I read the original story many times. Various things happened in season 6, but I think "Dabi’s Dance" is the best.
Q: What was the recording process like at that time?
SH: I recorded it together with Inada Tetsu (Endeavor) and Kaji Yuki (Shouto). More than anything, I was looking forward to the fight scene with Endeavor and Shouto in “Dabi’s Dance”, so I approached the recording with the feeling that regardless of the order or how many times I had to perform the sequence of events, I would do it. So when the recording was over I thought “It’s already over? Are we only recording this 2-3 times?” I always felt restricted when playing Dabi and wasn’t sure how to play him. He’s not the loud type and even though I don’t know what he’s thinking, but he says things that seem to make sense (laughs).
Q: You were exploding with feelings in “Dabi’s Dance”, right?
SH: I enjoyed that confession. And I think he had to block those complex feelings inside of him, so now he can only think of throwing everything inside of him against his father.
UK: Yeah.
SH: To me, because Dabi has died once before, he doesn’t think about continuing to live or what happens after he reaches his goal. That is why he goes by “Dabi”. That is why he can do nothing but think about throwing his entire strength, body, and soul at this.
Q: So there are no changes in performances in season 7?
SH: No. I’m glad we’re able to produce various things.
Q: Aside from “Dabi’s Dance”, “The Wrong Way to Put Out a Fire” (ep. 130) is also quite memorable.
SH: When I read the manga, I came to understand “so this was the reason”. Aside from Dabi, the LOV members each have their personal story. To me, a feeling of “Aren’t we (the villains) right? Aren't they righteous?” developed when I saw that.
Q: Surely, when I watched the villains’ stories, that much conviction was conveyed.
SH: It holds a different weight, doesn’t it? That is to say, I wonder with what kind of feeling towards us the heroes will arrive at the final battle. At the current stage, the villain’s feelings are stronger and they are fairly strong, too. We are sure to win (laughs).
Q: Uchiyama, do you also think you will defeat the heroes?
UK: Of course, that has been my intention since my first appearance. I think some of the viewers and readers don’t think well of me because of my position as villain, but I play my characters with the thought that the characters act based on their beliefs.
Q: Uchiyama, how do you feel looking back on season 6?
UK: When I read the manga, I was impressed by the development of Shigaraki being taken over by All For One. At the same time, I wondered how it would be portrayed in the anime. There was one scene where I had to put my voice on top of Otsuka Akio (All For One). That was a difficult part to perform, so that left a big impression on me.
Q: What was the recording like?
UK: Otsuka recorded it first, so I listened and traced the recording at home. When I heard his recording, I felt the strength of the material and the way of his inflection was unique. I remember hearing his voice over and over again.
Q: Once again, what is your impression of each other’s character?
UK: When he first appeared, I wondered whether Dabi would become our friend [TL note: the word he used is nakama, which can be translated as companion, friend, partner, etc.] from now on, he was a constant mystery. While I had a feeling that many things would be revealed after that, I still had a feeling that he was mysterious.
Q: When he first appeared (in the anime) his true identity still hadn’t been revealed in the manga yet.
SH: As the performer, I would’ve liked to be told, because I also kept thinking he is such a mystery (laughs).
UK: That’s right. He was also allowed to move fairly freely within the LOV, so he would suddenly disappear and whatnot. I also found that to be very mysterious.
Q: Being allowed to move freely might mean that Shigaraki trusts him to a certain degree, right?
UK: I wonder. The members of the LOV, especially during the early days, didn’t match friendship or bonding at all. So it’s hard to tell whether there was a feeling of trust.
SH: Rather than a relationship of trust, it’s more a correspondence of interests. While there are people that try to accomplish something with everyone, there are also people like Dabi. I think that freedom is the good thing about the LOV.
Q: Shimono, what is Shigaraki like from your point of view?
SH: It might just be my own personal impression, but I think that before fusing with All For One, Shigaraki was a little cuter [TL note: the word here is used kawairashisa, which is slightly different from kawaii in that it’s a bit more objective. A cuteness that everyone can see rather than being based on one’s feelings].
UK: Well, certainly in the early stages he seemed more juvenile.
SH: That’s right. While there was a time when he was childish and cute when talking to Dabi, he isn’t cute [TL note: here he just uses the negative form of kawaii lol] at all anymore (laughs).
Q: laughs
UK: He has ended up becoming a properly adult man.
SH: Adult man (laughs). But he has someone transcended, hasn’t he? Dabi has for the most part too, but……….
UK: It’s because Shigaraki lived despite being met with Prominence Burn.
SH: Right, right. That’s how strong his attachment to what he himself wants to accomplish must be.
Q: Has there been any change in your performance during the series?
UK: Because the series has been continuing for a long time, while continuing with the impression of the characters up until now, changes get added alongside the story. As Shimono mentioned before, the inside of the characters changed and during important parts so did their appearance, so I changed my acting accordingly. I am now quite aware of his strength due to his strong physique. In the early days, I was also very aware of his juvenility, so the way I voice him and all is different now.
SH: I have been accumulating things until season 6 and thought about how to get them out. When that time finally came, I had a lot of fun. I thought: “I can finally talk a lot!” All the more because as a voice actor, I had to continue not to talk or raise the excitement. I think there will be more suffering and pain now. I myself try not to fall behind on taking care of my throat.
Q: What are some things to look out for in season 7?
UK: I think the battle with Star and Stripe in the early parts is a highlight. Shigaraki is struggling against his opponent Star and Stripe, so his ego is still being shaken. It was a challenge for me to portray the new character from the fusion of Shigaraki and All For One, but it was tough since the battle began at full throttle.
Q: The battle with Star and Stripes looks even more animated than before, doesn’t it.
UK: The battle was very interesting in the manga, so I was very surprised by how they animated it. I want you to look forward to watching it, because from the animation to the character of Star and Stripe herself, there are many strong highlights.
Q: What about you, Shimono?
SH: After “Dabi’s Dance” we learn that Dabi = the oldest son of the Todoroki family, and now he has to fight his dad and little brother again. We’re about to reach the final battle, and when I read the manga I was overcome with many feelings. But I thought that if I’m concerned about that, I might not be able to play Dabi. Even if I had to break my throat, in any case I was ready to give it my all.
Q: I am looking forward to what kind of feelings Shouto will hold during this.
SH: When everyone, including Dabi, felt hopeless, only Shouto hadn’t lost his hope. Now, Shouto is trying to defeat Dabi with his own determination and honest feelings, so I want you to pay attention to the relationship between Dabi and Shouto.
Q: I think there will be changed on the villain side during season 7?
SH: There are again characters whose backgrounds are being shown.
UK: I think I can show even more strength as Shigaraki.
SH: The villains have the upper hand to begin with, so I wonder what kind of resolution will be drawn from here on.
UK: They are superior, aren’t they?
SH: What will the story of each of their battles be, like the one between Dabi, Endeavor and Shouto? I want you to pay attention to things like the clash of feelings.
Q: How do you feel about seeing the heroes outnumbered?
UK: The hero side is crumbling, isn’t it?
Everyone: (laughs)
UK: It’s a situation where you can’t see the light. Since it’s also shown that each country is reluctant to send their heroes to Japan, because protecting their own countries is important, I think that aspect also conveys that Japan is in a very difficult situation. Rather, the hero side has no more cards to play.
SH: It sure is falling apart, isn’t it?
UK: It’s already a certain victory (laughs).

Whenever dekus effect on people gets brought up I can't help make comparisons to wall e probably because it's the most overt comparison I can make but anyway that aside dekus effect on people gets brought up a lot but how it's resulted and has been a mixed bag in my eyes it's complicated but it is but what are your opinions on how dekus effect on people has been throughout the story
That's a broad question and would probably require an answer longer than anyone would read. So, I'll give the tldr here. Other than Shigaraki and Bakugou, I don't have significant complaints about Izuku's effect on other characters.
In general, he inspires his classmates to be the best version of themselves. His hardworking and selfless nature inspiring Ochako makes sense. I like that her admiration of Izuku has both negative effects on her character development.
He inspired Iida to become a more compassionate hero through his actions in the entrance exam and the Hero Killer Arc. It was a good example of an arc for a character who naturally leans more selfish but admires true heroism who learns to grow into that role. It's not natural for him, but he puts his all into it anyway. Iida's arc is compelling and should have gotten more focus.
Shouto goes without saying. Izuku was key to his character development. There could have been much more if their underlying conflicts with each other and other characters were actually addressed in the later arcs though...
How he inspired All Might is one of the most compelling character arcs in BNHA. All Might's impact on Izuku however is much more of a mixed bag.
Izuku effect on Kota and Eri makes sense. What kid wouldn't be inspired by someone going that far to save them? In Eri's case, he was the first person to accept her including her quirk as well.
Izuku being able to successfully reach out to Aoyama, Gentle Criminal, and Lady Nagant also works. Aoyama strongly relates to Izuku and his struggles. Gentle Criminal was someone who wanted validation and Izuku (1) is very good at validating people and (2) can understand the sting of failure. Lady Nagant also wanted to believe in heroism (the concept not the industry) and wanted to find a cause she could truly believe in again.
Bakugou and Shigaraki are where things fall apart. Bakugou was certainly inspired to do better because of the guilt he felt towards Izuku and his feelings of inadequacy towards Izuku, but it's to the detriment of Izuku's character arc. For Shigaraki, they were off to a good start in Act One. The mall scene kicked off Shigaraki character arc and there was good buildup in Act Two. They seemed to lose that connection to each other in Act Three though...

Recently me and my best friend discussed how shitty BnHA ending is and since we both also followed Naruto, my friend said this :
"Why do anyone ever think that Hawks became president is a good ending? Like, imagine Kakashi, we all know Kakashi. We've shown how he loathed being a ruler of anything and he was just wanna relax. Now imagine if Kakashi was being made Hokage, BUT he didn't have a chat with and about his father whom practically abandoned him, didn't face the student whom he adored yet tried to kill, AND he didn't have closure over the fact that his idol figure is practically the worst human alive. Can you imagine how miserable Kakashi would be? Well, that was Hawks should be! Like heck, masked-faced Kakashi showed more emotion about Obito's reveal than Hawk's over Endeavor! This is ridiculous"
Then I remember that you know Naruto too and wanna share this with you. Our burn out prodigy child soldier truly deserve better and we've actually have a case when it can be better. Although I can say Kishimoto is an excellent writer but somehow Horikoshi is WORSE.
Argh
this very good! See, it's not so much Keigo being pres that bothers me - in one, sad way, I see this as an answer, not a good one, to one of his eternal struggles of being in control of himself. I thought the answer was breaking away/freedom, but Horikoshi went and said "well, you can't be controlled/taken advantage of if you're the one doing all that", and yeah, it makes sense that Keigo essentially answering his lack of agency by becoming the one who holds the reins was an option...
But I don't think it was the "best" way for him to end up. Especially as you mentioned, that he did not do the work to get there. He had SOME, but...and this is a huge issue with the entirety of BNHA and one day when I have the strength I'll write out my feelings, but... no one earned their development, me thinks. Or some characters like Bakugou and Shouto did, but so much of the work that we needed to see was off-screened or just not...adressed. It's why Deku, Ochako, Keigo, and Enji feel so damn hollow as character narratives. The work wasn't done.
Honestly, I never thought BNHA could disappoint me more than Naruto, and I'm still broken-hearted it did, and likely due to author burnout more than anything. It still feels ...unreal, in all honesty.
