#so i finished. feels like they did not put a lot of thought into shiro or hunk's epilogue lmfao #overall i dont think it was Bad. it could have been better yknow. but again. it feels like they just needed a little extra time to breathe #in development. it's just bones.#i do think perhaps some of the criticisms i have seen of it are just from people pissing on the poor #i could fix her!!! ough i really do want to rewrite this sdnfksjfd but that would unfortunately require. having to watch this again #and i cant do that in 24 hours #im so sad this is disappearing. this is the only show for which i ever stayed up for the midnight PST release #back when only season 1 and maybe 2? were out i used to watch them constantly. sometimes in spanish to practice #like i wouldnt have ever finished without the threat of it leaving but this is the worst timing to reawaken my affection for it lmao #grateful for it. wish i hadnt waited so long #i did need time to forget the insanity tho bc if i had made myself keep going and finish at the time #it would have poisoned the ending i think. nice to finally watch those last 4-5 episodes with a fresh perspective #but at the same time this is How Many Years ive missed out on being able to talk about it lmao #maybe there is a renaissance. idk i havent looked into it too much but i guess i should now huh #we'll see if things are any different or if it's just the same shit i got tired of the first time around #but anyway. the show is still fun and i enjoyed it for the most part. very sad to see it go #mine #voltron

I think they will be!! It’s just like, they’ve got a few other cast members for the spy another day stream so possibly depending on how many of them can be there in person could decide how they set it up

I finished Final Fantasy XVI.

I’m upset.

I wanted to love this game so badly. I really did.

And, parts of it, I did love. When FFXVI is at its best, it shits all over every single other Final Fantasy -- hell, it shits all over most other games, period. But when it’s not at its best? It’s depressingly, upsettingly, insultingly awful.

And unfortunately, it’s not at its best 60% of the time. Maybe more.

I have never wanted to rescue a cast of characters from their own story more than I want to rescue this cast. Every single one of them is incredible. I love every single character in this game -- I have no complaints about any of them, which has literally never happened to me in any RPG before, ever. But the story that they’re in is just so, so, so, so, so bad.

So now... I don’t know what to do with myself. I spent four 16+ hour days in this impressively built world with this wonderful cast, and it just doesn’t seem fair that the story ended up being what it ended up being. There was so much potential here. There’s so much about this game to love.

But for every one thing FFXVI did right, it did two other things wrong.

I’ve never finished a game feeling like this before. I have all of these emotions and nowhere to put them because the story’s so shitty. So now I’m just sitting here being upset because I can’t do anything about it. I can’t change anything about what the game is or does.

I just.

I feel like I should write up a whole post about what the game did right and what the game did wrong, but there’s just so much to go into that it’s too daunting and overwhelming to even think about.

How do you score a game like this? The characters are heart-wrenchingly excellent, but the story itself is infuriatingly terrible. The combat system is fun and addictive as hell, but the content you play through with it is mid, samey, and way too easy. The maps you traverse and the world that you’re in is beautifully constructed and feel like they’re the perfect size, but you never actually get to be a part of it at any point because Clive is perpetually an outsider and the story doesn’t linger in any one town or city for long enough.

I hate it. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it.

The sentiment I keep going back to in my head is “it’s not fair.”

It’s just not fair that the game ended up like this.
