I have a personal hc that, if the iron trio lived in Small Town, USA, they’d all be die-hard FFA kids.
George would show hogs, because his brothers all did and his mum wanted him to. But everyone knows he’s more of a Parli Pro guy anyway. Mrs. Karim finally got tired of him loosening his ties, so she bought him a clip-on.
Lucy would show lambs with Norrie, because it got her out of her mums house and let her spend time with her best friend. She’d do every CDE that was available, just so she could spend a bit more time with her friends. They were almost pets to her, always coming up to nibble on her sketchbook when she hid down in the barn with them.
Lockwood would show steer, because they were always the flashiest come fair time. He didn’t need it, but winning Grand Champion got him the most money, too. Corduroy wasn’t really his style, but at least he got to wear a tie.
During fair, Lucy and Norrie would spend hours in the barn, creeping through the storage rafters to spy on the tall, posh boy with the sleek black steer. He was clearly far too put together for showing animals: he would come into the barn with that gleaming smile and not a speck of dirt on his black trousers. They’d giggle and wonder if he actually raised the cow, or if he’d just paid someone else to do it. They never noticed that he’d seen them in the rafters each day.
One morning before showing, Lucy and Lockwood meet at the wash, hoping to get there before everyone else to primp up their animals. Lockwood insists Lucy go first, and things only spark from there.
He finds her in the barn one night after they close to the public, alone in the chaos of bleating lambs and asks her to the arcade. He wins a stuffed giraffe and gives it to her. She sleeps with it every night.
The day of show, after buyers have auctioned and animals are herded back to their pens to be collected, he seeks Lucy out once more. She’s curled up in the pen, holding her lamb for dear life, silent tears streaming down her face. He tries to comfort her, but her lamb, named Skull due to the color of the wool on his muzzle, nearly bites his hand off
Fair comes and goes, and Lucy has somehow landed herself as a finalist in the state competition for Creed a few months later. Every time she puts on that jacket, she thinks of the posh boy who helped her grieve her friend.
As she lines up behind others, awaiting her turn to speak in front of an audience of hundreds, a tall, posh boy turns around, locking eyes with her as his smile gleams in the dim light.

Multiversus' Online finally co-operated w/ me tonight, idk if they fixed the servers or my internet got better but it turns out when the damn thing works it's pretty fun.
FFA really is too much of a clusterfuck to enjoy, but it's not so awful as to discourage doing a weekly lmao
I also started Assassin's Creed Origins, pretty neat. Really like the vibe, immediately feels different from Syndicate which I played a few months ago.

Fred Van Vleck Superintendent | EHS FFA Success at State Competition
Shared by Fred Van Vleck Superintendent Eureka High School FFA Students Show Outstanding Public Speaking and Parliamentary Law Knowledge at 2023 FFA Leadership Development Event April 28, 2023 – Eureka, CA – Eureka High School FFA recently competed and showed off their outstanding public speaking skills and parliamentary law knowledge at the California FFA Leadership Development Event (LDE) April 20-21, 2023. Out of 29,000 FFA freshmen in California, Eureka High School Freshman Jake Van Reusen placed third in the FFA Creed Speaking contest. Junior, Whilder Kijsriopas competed in Extemporaneous Public Speaking and did extremely well while the EHS Parliamentary Procedure or Debate Team was in the top 22 in the state. The FFA Creed outlines the organization’s values and beliefs regarding the industry of agriculture, FFA membership, and citizenship and patriotism. Students participating in the Creed Speaking LDE learn to communicate in a powerful, organized and professional manner and build self-confidence. Van Reusen says, “As being a Creed speaker, I am asked to step out of my comfort zone, compete at something I am new to, and to do my very best, but I am encouraged, motivated, and inspired.” Van Reusen adds that he’s been presented with many opportunities through FFA and agriculture and he hopes to inspire incoming freshmen and all students with the message, “If I can do it, you can do it.” Go out there and “Exert an influence in your home and community which will stand solid for your part in that inspiring task” (E.M. Tiffany FFA Creed Paragraph 5). Students participating in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking LDE showcase their agricultural knowledge and ability to think on their feet by giving a speech and answering questions with limited prep time. Whilder Kijsriopas says, “Being in Extemporaneous Public Speaking has helped me to become more confident in presenting and advocating for agriculture. I enjoy it because I get to learn about new topics and get to justify my presentation to a panel of judges. Traveling across the state to compete has been so much fun and I loved visiting college campuses and meeting new people.” Students participating in the Parliamentary Procedure LDE are evaluated on their ability to conduct an orderly and efficient meeting using parliamentary procedure. Participants are judged on their knowledge of parliamentary law and their ability to present logical, realistic and convincing debate and motions. The Eureka High School FFA team practiced for this performance for months ahead of the competition, participated in several contests, and had to place in the top four at the section and region contests in order to compete at the state level. EHS Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor, Alissa Sarvinski says, “These speaking competitions create skills that students will take with them into any career of their choosing. The skills obtained will be with them for life.” Eureka High School FFA participates in a multitude of competitions, conferences, and state-recognized events and career development event competitions. They are looking forward to their last contest at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Milk Quality Judging, Veterinary Science, Livestock Judging, Farm Power and Best Informed Greenhand. ladies, if he. . .
believes in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds – achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former years
believes that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging
knows the joys and discomforts of agricultural life
holds an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, he cannot deny
believes in leadership from himself and respect from others
believes in his own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as he can secure
believes in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil
believes in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so–for others as well as himself
believes in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy himself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon him
believes that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that he can exert an influence in his home and community which will stand solid for his part in that inspiring task
he's not your man, he's E.M. Tiffany of Lyndon, Kansas, author of the FFA Creed

so i saw a “underfunded public high school teachers” au, and, as someone who went to a (rural) underfunded public highschool, I don’t want to hijack the post, but i think i can do it better
The Math Department
- Jin Guangyao: teaches applied math, precalc, calc, AP calc, and the obligatory algebra class. He HATES his freshmen, HATES his applied math students, and lives solely for his AP students. Absolutely fucking terrifying. Somehow wound up in charge of the bus garage. He hates it. It is giving him ulcers. How did this happen! But if he doesn’t do it, the kids will just go... wherever, so it’s not like he can not!
- Lan Wangji: teaches algebra and geometry. Also teaches Latin. Why does this school offer Latin? Who knows. He has like 7 Latin students every year and it’s like 3 Catholics, 2 goths, one kid who is Really into Assassins Creed, and one weirdo who thinks they’re going to law school. Also absolutely fucking terrifying, but differently. Has never attended a single pep rally and will not let you out of class to go to them. Runs the after-school homework help.
Lan Qiren: Grumpy math teacher. Absolutely fucking terrifying and constantly 3 years away from retirement. He taught your parents and remembers their bullshit, so don’t try anything.
The English Department:
- Yanli: 10th grade English and yearbook, runs the school paper. All the straight boys have a crush on her.
- Xiao Xingchen: freshmen and juniors, also teaches French. Has something of a dead poets society vibe, but like. A chill one. FFA sponsor.
- Wen Ning: freshmen and seniors, also teaches French. Patron saint of the gay students.
The Science Department
- Wei Wuxian: Chemistry and Physics. Has set the school on fire five times and himself on fire once. A legend in his own right. Runs the GSA, since most schools can have those now. Once declared “wafting is for weenies” and then sniffed concentrated hydrochloric acid. His students make those “x didn’t wear her saftey goggles and now she doesn’t have to” memes about him.
- Wen Qing: Bio, anat phys, and that class that’s for kids who are basically going straight into the community college nursing program. Runs envirothon, but isn’t hardcore about it. Absolutely fucking terrifying, but extremely fair. Every baby dyke that goes through has a big crush on her. Coaches girl’s track and field and soccer
- Wen Ruohan: Teaching to the test, hates you, does not fucking care about you, will absolutely send you to detention for rolling your eyes, makes students cry on the regular. Has never written a college recommendation so do not ask him.
The Social Studies Department
- Jiang Cheng: World history, APUSH, US history. Teaches to the test or goes on incoherent yelling rants. Has almost been fired for throwing erasers at students and “teaching” conspiracy theories about the moon landing and the kennedy assassination. Coaches basketball and cross country and has a HUGE inferiority complex about how his teams ALWAYS go to state but he NEVER gets any credit unlike the DEADBEAT football team that SUCKS. His athletes always have good grades because if they don’t, he frog-marches them into Lan Wangji’s homework help, cusses them out, and tells Lan Wangji not to let them leave until they have Bs. Insane, but the kids would die for him.
- Lan Xichen: Teaches civics, the one (1) philosophy/poli-sci elective, and is the band director. He’s great, but he’s infamous for giving you a pass if you can convincingly argue unique bullshit well enough, or have a bad enough sob story. Consequently, a lot of Lost Souls wind up in band, and he doubles as the unofficial guidance counselor.
- Wen Chao, who also (somehow??) teaches trig. He is here to coach football. He gives the kids worksheets and plays internet poker all day. Lan Wangji is his nemesis because he will not let kids go play football if they are failing, and he will not manufacture passing grades for football players. The football team is terrible and they never win anything, but he still acts like they own the school.
The Rest
Jin Zixuan: Teaches computers. Coaches baseball.
Nie Mingjue: gym and rotc. Coaches wrestling and volleyball. Teaches “health” which means he’s also in charge of sex ed. This is very unfortunate for everyone. The students call him “stache” but only behind his back.
Qin Su: Guidance counselor. Very sweet, but not very helpful. Also teaches driver’s ed.
Jin Zixun: The principle. Incompetent, Full of himself. Hates competent people who work under him. The closest thing this cast has to a good ol boy who got this job through pure nepotism and who everyone wants to kill
Madam Jin: office secretary. really good at giving Judgemental Looks to every kid who gets sent to the office.
Jiang Fengmian: Vice principle. Also completely ineffective, but in a different direction to Jin Zixun. They make a terrible team! This school is going to hell in a handbasket! Once confiscated a knife from a kid who brought it to school to threaten another kid for sexually harrassing a girl, and told him “now, son, i understand what you were trying to do. you were trying to defend that young lady’s honor, and that was very noble, but we have got to find a way for you to deal with these situations that does not involve violence”
Nie Huaisang: Art teacher. Every year he thinks his funding is going to get cut. Most of the students in his class are goths or stoners or both. He may or may not be selling weed.
Yu Ziyuan: teaches Spanish and is the cheerleading coah and girl’s basketball. Mean. Strict. Knows all your parents’ drama, takes it personally, and hates you. Actually writes “F for Fries with That” on papers. Has almost been fired for kicking a student.
Song Lan: shop
#untamed stuff#anything in here that is weirdly specific#is something that actually happened at my highschool

Guys guys
Eliot is a country boy. Eliot went to a small town high school is Oklahoma. Eliot was in FFA.
FFA, if you don't know, Is Future Farmers Of America. It's a club normally closely tied to Agriculture classes, which yes is an elective. And where I grew up it's a big deal.
What I'm saying is: teenage Eliot awkwardly square danced with the girls in his grade, wore the official dress, had a field day for the local elementary school (maybe working with Aimee, talking about her horses and showing them off?). Teenage Eliot spent weeks memorizing creeds and speeches, doing community service projects and official dinners.
Eliot was in FFA guys, and when Hardison tracks down his yearbooks and finds all the pictures, he's never going to let them go

100 Days of Productivity: Day 2/100
I’ve decided to teach myself French, since I want to travel to Europe during college. ;) Sadly, my high school is too small for a French class, so Duolingo will have to do and I will stick to keeping on with Spanish, which is also an extremely important language. Also: Can anyone PLEASE tell me what the heck is wrong with French masculine and feminine rules? I thought it’d be a piece of cake after getting to know the Spanish ones and yet...
It was cold and rainy outside today, which made walking around my high school miserable. Our football team is going to playoffs, so naturally we had a pep rally. I’d like them, but they give me such horrible headaches.
Worked with my favorite FFA coach on my Creed today. I go to Area contest next Wednesday, so pray for me or wish me luck if you aren’t into praying! I’m so nervous. If I get in the top three, I qualify for state. I have butterflies just at the thought!
Hope everyone has a blessed day and week!
