Ciclo hosts a rollicking fashion extravaganza to usher in New Year
By Bipin Sharma
Having carved a distinctive niche for itself in a short time frame, Ciclo Bar and Cafe, Sector 29, Gurgaon hosted yet another rollicking high end fashion event on 30th December, 2017. Known as the “Ciclo Fashion Nites”, the exclusively conceptualized event has done a world of good in transforming 4000 sq feet area Ciclo Bar and Cafe into a much sought after ‘style destination’ every Saturday for the glitterati and party goers.
Thanks to the unique and mesmerizing fashion events hosted at this joint every week, the place has become a name to reckon with in Leisure Valley, Gurgaon.
Dimple Ghosh is the brain and the curator of all the Ciclo Events at Sector 29, Gurgaon. To add more zing to the event, she roped in FDCI Fashion Designer Shantanu Singh and India’s Top Show Director Former Miss India Liza Varma this time to host an astounding evening on 30th December with the ace designer’s breathtaking New Year Collection called “The Next Episode”.
The event was graced by the crème de la crème of the society. Notable among those seen in attendance were Ratandeep Lal Founder IIFT, Kanya Krishnani-Anchor and Corporate Trainer, Super Star Biker Sunil Bhuptani, event planners Ruchieka Krishnani and Rajat Krishnani to name a few.
The highlight of the glitzy and the glamorous evening was a spectacular Fashion show that was the cynosure of everyone’s attention. The guests had a gala time savouring the scrumptious cuisines over some great music played by DJ Robbie.
Dimple Ghosh, a former Actor and Singer of Bollywood had a swinging parallel career that saw her reach the scales of Global Business Head of Viacom 18 and Chief Digital Director with Snapdeal. In 2016, she founded her company Connecting Dotts, and now is a Marketing Strategist, who curates everything for Multiple Brands and Hospitality Businesses in the country. In a candid chat, Dimple shared, “My Challenge is to infuse new life into dormant and dead, and make it really rocking with new innovative ideas and strategies with an ROI angle.”
Delhi based Designer Shantanu Singh, a NIFT, Kolkata 2004 alumni has won numerous accolades in his illustrious career. A designer par excellence, his label named “THE NEXT EPISODE” got marked as an International label in September 2008. Developed in a short span of time, his label has strong and loyal clientele. “THE NEXT EPISODE” is not just a designer label, but a fashion movement in itself. His Label is currently available at myriad prestigious fashion stores and boutiques in UAE, Kuwait and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Birmingham UK and Kharkov Ukrainian.
Speaking on the occasion, Shantanu Singh said, “It was a unique experience for me as I showcased my design collections for the first time in a Bar and Cafe. The overall feel was different since I have always showcased my collections either on the stage or during runway shows. What made the show incredible was that the models were mostly new talent, some of them who will be participating in the forthcoming Miss India Beauty Pageant. In all, I showcased two collections, the first one drawing its inspiration from POP Art which was all about showing the colours of spring ...joyful lively collection ...detailed with cording and pleating techniques....All made from different types of silk fabric materials. The other collection that I showcased was the winter collection. ...more like red carpet and party wear...couture garments which were dedicated to women empowerment, and the victory and various past and present accomplishments of women. We called it the “Golden Night” a perfect blend of Dark and Gold colour since gold has always been known to be a woman's best friend besides being the epitome of shining glory and victory.”
Ashish Thadani, CEO at TI Absolute Concepts that owns and operates Ciclo Cafes and other concept restaurants said, “We at Ciclo Bar and Cafe are very excited to see the engagement of customers every week with all our events that we have put together especially to bring to all our customers, an exclusive experience during this festive Season with a brand new menu and fabulous deals. Our endeavour is to give all our customers an experience for them to keep coming back for more.”

India Couture Week — The Roundup
THE DEPARTURE OF THE CHOLI
I was not kidding about the bridal trends and if there is one trend that is clearer now than ever, it’s that the lehnga-choli can be well on its way to an extinct combination. Worn with lehngas and saris, these new age capes, cold-shoulder blouses and trapeze tops are so forgiving. Breathe (or eat) easy, would-be brides! FDCI’s India Couture Week 2017 recently wrapped up in New Delhi and that means we got a good look at the upcoming bridal trends!
Celebrating its 10th edition this year, the event was everything that you would expect. Larger than life sets; sequins and shimmer; swanky venue; weighty FROW; Bollywood show stoppers; Rohit Bal’s signature floor grazers, each more voluminous than the previous and a glittery Manish Malhotra finale starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. Seven days, 14 designers and at least 500 looks. Read on to find out why Manav Gangwani and Rina Dhaka stole the show. Just kidding! Here are some highlights of the week that was.

ANAMIKA KHANNA’S HAPPILY EVER AFTER
Anamika Khanna opened this year’s event with an installation titled Happily Ever After at The Kila in Seven Style Mile. Segmented into Welcome Lunch, Mehndi, Cocktails and Wedding, the collection amalgamated traditional Indian techniques with a modern Indian vibe, with twist and turns that Anamika is known to pull off. Pretty pastels to fiery reds, intricate embroidery and heirloom Benarasi textile interplayed with her spectacular silhouettes… I can go on and on. In short, everything made it to my lust list.
THE SARI STORY
It’s not couture week, if you don’t spend time obsessing over saris. It wasn’t tough to narrow down my list. I love the maximalist-minimalist vibe of Rahul Mishra’s Parsi gara embroidered, organza scallop sari and I know Monisha Jaising’s sari-inspired gown will be seen on these pages soon. Gaurav Gupta’s pre-draped sexy Grecian sari was showcased in a lovely new mauve and Sabyasachi turned to his quintessential red matka. (Though he skipped India Couture Week for an Instagram reveal, you can’t ignore Sabya when talking about the sari.)
SHWETA BACHCHAN IN THAT WHITE SHIRT
Okay, can we take another moment and talk about Shweta Bachchan in that white shirt? Paired with a Manish Malhotra skirt and accessorized with a gripoix buckled Chanel belt, she worked that look. I know some of you liked it and some didn’t, personally I thought that white shirt made for quite a fashion moment and I will be taking mine out soon!

Monisha Jaising showcased her most colossal collection showstopper shilpa shetty, “Opera” at the celebrated India Couture Week 2017 on twenty eighth July at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi offered by FDCI.
Starting from the 16th century, adolescent girls of the best society, with their fine silhouettes and jewels catching the light, have always resembled gorgeous portraits as they sit in their boxes at the Opera House. Inspired by the Opera, this collection harmonizes with the evolution of displaying one’s finery and the mesmerizing dynamics of performance on stage.
Demonstrating the individuality of these fashion ensembles, the collection radiates elements of exuberant fabrics and airy silhouettes. The strong character and fragility of the Opera singer personifies the colour palette of each couture piece implementing a smooth transition from burgundy to rose pink and from metallic to ice blue.
The collection sets the stage with a theatrical variation of fabrics composed of lamé, velvet metallics, tulle, chikankari, Italian organza, banarasi, metallic satin and much more. With a dramatic ethnic flair infused with contemporary details, the assortment of pieces carry concept lehengas, evening dresses, cocktail saris, evening gowns, crop tops and ball skirts.
Monisha Jaising stated “Having been to the Opera in the past, the inspiration for my collection was triggered by the fond memory of the Opera house flowing with people in their finery. I find the whole process of displaying this finery starting from the entrance, walking up the palatial stairways, to the seating area to be exceptionally enticing! You can sort of say that it is a fashion show for the people by the people.”

Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh were the showstoppers for ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra at the grand finale of FDCI India Couture Week 2017 that was held in Delhi on Sunday. The duo closed the week long show in style and made a true royal couple as they walked together on ramp to stop the show.
Looking like a royal delight, both the stars ruled the ramp with sheer glam and confidence. Ranveer is usually looked loaded with energy and looked dapper AF in a black sequined sherwani. However, we miss his Allauddin Khilji mustaches, which he chopped a few weeks back during a live Instagram video. Alia Bhatt too was a royal princess in a tulle lehenga with rosettes and crinoline skirt that needed 4 handlers to adjust the train, from Manish’s ‘Sensual Affair’ collection.
They kept their fans and followers updated by uploading several pictures on Instagram. One hilarious picture posted by Alia Bhatt shows Ranveer Singh sitting on the sofa and the 24-year-old actress is seated below him looking a little annoyed.
Regal Ranveer greeted Alia with a kiss on her hand and the dazzling diva giggled when he stood beside her and cracked a joke (maybe). Having worked together in quirky ad films, Ranveer and Alia’s on-ramp chemistry was adorably palpable.
Manish Malhotra ditched the quintessential wedding colors and his ‘Sensual affair’ was more about muted hues like beige, silver, and gray. Elegant sequined work and long trails were the highlights of his collection – perfect for the modish reception and cocktail wear. His 85 looks on the runway had tasseled tops, feather trims, trailed capes and a lot more with quintessential shiny elements.
It was Manish’s fourth finale for the India Couture Week. Last year he left our jaws-dropped when he brought together Deepika Padukone and Fawad Khan to walk the ramp and open the couture week.
Alia and Ranveer will soon be seen together in Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming, ‘Gully Boys’. Presently, Alia is garnering accolades for her terrific performance last year in Udta Punjab while Ranveer has just wrapped Padmavati’s shoot.
