Anyone out there listen to more ezra bell than me

The frontman and lyricist of my favourite band died recently and it’s so incredibly strange to listen to his voice singing songs that made me start making music and hearing his lyrics that made inspiration hit me like a freight train to start writing again, knowing him and his incredible talent is gone forever but being forever changed by the art he created whilst he was here. I don’t really know where I was going with this I just think death is so permanent and cruel and I will miss Ben Wuamett forever.

years do odd things to identity. what does it mean to say i am that child in the photograph at kishamish in 1935? might as well say i am the shadow of a leaf of the acacia tree felled seventy years ago moving on the page the child reads. might as well say i am the words she read or the words I wrote in other years, flicker of shade and sunlight as the wind moves through the leaves.
