Hey Kids, Your Glasses Are Awesome!

Kids often struggle to adjust to having to wear glasses.

They’re already used to not being able to see clearly; the strange feeling of the glasses on their nose and ears and possibly teasing from their peers might not seem like a great trade for clear vision. What is a parent to do? Good eyesight is crucial for so many things in a growing child’s life, particularly education, so how can we help our kids gain a more positive outlook on their glasses?

The Glasses Should Fit and Be Age-Appropriate

No kid is going to want to tolerate wearing ill-fitting glasses. They’ll find every opportunity to take them off or “forget” them when getting ready for school. If your child’s current glasses don’t fit, we have tools to adjust them at our practice. It could also be time for a new pair. Kids grow fast, and the glasses they wear should be right for their age. In fact, glasses that fit properly can even be part of the “big kid” image they want!

Genuine question: how long do you think akutagawa will last in the manga???

Mmhhh I hadn't thought about it, but I think he's pretty much the character least likely to die now? Because he already died once, and characters don't die twice on screen (that is, if the one we saw at the end of episode 11 is our Akutagawa, which technically isn't confirmed yet, but I find it higly probable). Worst case scenario I can think of is author implying he'll die / have him die off screen at the very conclusion of the manga due to his illness, but I doubt they'd be that cruel. I'm curious about how they intend to cure his illness though.

Need to make them their bases and then stick them onto said bases. But otherwise? Done.

I tried to wetblend the shadows on the tabard thing. It was a try and good enough for now. I also learned that doing shadows before highlights work better probably.

Now onto the Deathwing Termis! Painted in their eyelenses real quick and I'll still have to do some clean up.

This model has been a lesson in two things: contrast paint and glazing.

Contrast paints are their own beast. By the end, I think I was getting the idea of how to use them, which is neither messy nor precise, but a sort of precise messiness. You gotta ride the line of flooding the model with paint which is gonna take some getting used to on my part.

I 👏 love 👏 glazing 👏😄 Got some practice with the oxidation/scorch effect on the pyreblaster, the eyelenses (which i kinda overdid, losing the darker edges but overall came out pretty well) and my first attempt at anything approaching NMM with the pauldron trim (a good first attempt, I think 😁).

I’ll bring him back for his glamour shots after I get his decals on; in the meantime, back to the cultists. 💜

Not much progress, been too busy with writing and prepping for a big larp this weekend. But I have finally found a way to get the orange on my 6th Company Salamanders as bright as I want it!

Turns out, the Orange Glaze from Two Thin Coats makes pretty much any shit orange you've slapped below it pop. It also looks great as a shadow on my pointing guy's yellow eyelenses! His gun still isn't popping, but that's just one coat of the glaze applied directly on top of a base coat + drybrush.

Trust me, he will make a lot more sense once he's painted and photographed with his sister.

This still needs proofreading, I can see several mistakes in just this bit. It took a lot of work to keep this story under the word count and I had to get my spouse to check that the language was orky enough, but I'm decently pleased with this one. My feedback for my first chapter was that it wasn't grim enough, so I've gone heavy on the suffering and violence in this one. Maybe it'll do better? We'll see.
