The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Right Wireless Keyboard for Your Laptop
Choosing the best wireless keyboard for your laptop can greatly enhance your typing experience and productivity. With a wide variety of options available on the market, it's important to consider several factors to ensure you make the right choice. This comprehensive guide will walk you through the key considerations and features to look for when selecting a wireless keyboard for your laptop.
1. Keyboard Type:
Membrane Keyboards: These are quiet and have a soft feel. They are generally more affordable but might not provide the same tactile feedback as mechanical keyboards.
Mechanical Keyboards: These offer distinct tactile feedback and audible clicks. They are favored by typists and gamers for their durability and precision.
2. Connectivity:
Bluetooth: Most modern laptops have built-in Bluetooth, allowing you to connect wirelessly without the need for a USB receiver. Make sure the keyboard is compatible with your laptop's Bluetooth version.
USB Receiver: Some wireless keyboards come with a USB receiver that you plug into a USB port on your laptop. This can be a good option if your laptop lacks Bluetooth connectivity.
3. Key Layout and Size:
Consider whether you prefer a full-size keyboard or a more compact one. Some compact keyboards sacrifice the numeric keypad and function keys to save space.
4. Battery Life:
Look for keyboards with long battery life to minimize the need for frequent charging or battery replacement. Some keyboards even come with rechargeable batteries.
5. Compatibility:
Ensure the keyboard is compatible with your laptop's operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.).
6. Ergonomics:
Consider keyboards with ergonomic designs to reduce strain on your wrists and hands during extended typing sessions.
7. Key Travel and Feel:
Key travel refers to how far a key needs to be pressed for it to register. Different keyboards offer varying levels of key travel, so choose one that suits your typing preference.

8. Backlighting:
Backlit keyboards are useful for typing in low-light conditions. Some keyboards offer customizable backlight colors and brightness levels.
9. Additional Features:
Some wireless keyboards include extra features like dedicated media keys, customizable shortcut keys, or even touchpads.
10. Brand Reputation and Reviews:
Research reputable keyboard brands are known for quality and durability. Read user reviews and expert recommendations to get an idea of real-world performance.
11. Price and Warranty:
Set a budget and explore options within that range. Additionally, check the manufacturer's warranty to ensure you're covered in case of defects or issues.
12. Testing and Comfort:
Whenever possible, try out the keyboard before purchasing to assess its comfort and typing experience. If testing in-store isn't an option, make sure the keyboard has a return policy in case it doesn't meet your expectations.
By considering these factors and doing thorough research, you can confidently select the best wireless keyboard for your laptop that suits your preferences, enhances your typing experience, and boosts your overall productivity.

they callin Time Blindness somethin else now right? Hope its Time Distortion cause sounds like a SICK SUPERPOWER but its actually 'i cant conceptualize/plan out longer than a week, retain more than a month, nor recall a couple seconds ago / yesterday when pressed'. I can't guarantee what sticks in my mind and it is HELL. Do you know how hard it is to maintain Long Term Goals when LONG TERM is A MONTH AT BEST? hhfhfhf.
Hard to maintain a sense of self too. Like who am I? What do I do? What drives me? Whatevers caught my eye for the month? Is someone who can't maintain any semblance of consistency really a person? I guess people normally change, but god it happens fast in here, and in hindsight is almost always confusing (how did I get here?). Not in a plural-amnesia way though. Like getting lost at a fair kinda way. Like "wow! I was having fun, and then I Realize idk how far I am from the exit and I've missed the last bus", Kinda Lost.
I will,,, figure it out/chillax.

bad news on the keyboard install front, looking more complicated than I first thought.
About as involved as replacing the palmrest on the last laptop and while that worked out fine the technology in here looks flimsier for lack of a better word.
I'll just take it somewhere to get it replaced eventually, at least I wont have to wait on the part....

I'm giving up on today on account of Too Many Things Going Wrong. I am going to curl up under a fuzzy blanket and wait for it to be tomorrow. Until then I refuse to Do Things or Act Like A Person.

need to shell out for a new laptop before the end of the year - for a lot of reasons but mainly bc support ending for win8.1 makes fixing the current beast rather pointless :/ (and. admittedly. there is a lot to fix. she's old and she has suffered.)
but my current beastie is from the last gen of laptops with a disc drive and the thought of using an external/usb disc drive is enough to make me cry tears of blood
#really though it is time to upgrade#and i hate to say it because she /runs/ fine it's all hardware issues w parts that can absolutely be replaced#but if i can't use it to run the programs i need then shelling out the money for those parts would ultimately be a waste#but also the fact that this machine that runs fine is no longer worth fixing bc some google-based bullshit just won't support win8.1 anymor#is ALSO a fucking waste & a pile of planned obsolescence bullshit! and i hate it!#but uh. even though she runs fine and she totally does. she does need. uh.#new keyboard (only 1/3 of keys work; currently use usb keyboard)#new trackpad ribbon cable (trackpad does not currently work; using external usb mouse)#new power button and connecting ribbon cable (turning it on involves opening it up and causing an intentional short-circuit every time.)#(a problem largely solved by simply never turning her completely off- except she also needs)#a new battery (current battery does not charge at all; machine needs to be constantly plugged in or it shuts down immediately)#...ok i might be the 'this is fine' dog about this#but i am still upset! that i will no longer have a disc drive inside my damn laptop.#that's the disc drive's natural habitat; that's where it should be; it's weird and offputting to have it connected via usb!#ack. why do tech companies fuck everything up.#and that's without getting into the way new devices offer less harddrive space so people will use the fucking cloud or whatever???#yeah sorry no i'm not using your goddamn data mining corporate off-site storage i want to keep my shit on my own goddamn machine#go to actual hell if you're trying to sell me a pc with less than at least 500GB of storage i swear to fuck#...in essence you could say the whole process is leaving me rather grumpy

Oh, I almost forgot to mention about when I had da:o running on my laptop last night: apparently it had my CPU running at 80c, and honestly the case felt closer to when I stream ps+ and it gets to 90.
That's when I remembered that my mom's laptop burned up and died shortly after starting the game years ago. (Dalish, got to ostagar before it happened but not to the joining iirc)
Now that I'm thinking about it again, I'm kinda worried to play. I'll try it maybe with everything unneeded turned off, and turning it down to medium graphics... My tints won't work properly (if at all) on low but if that's the only way to play... 😖

SO SORRY!
I've been MIA for what feels like forever, but let me tell you why.
I take morning medication for my thyroid and my heart. My bed is positioned RIGHT next to my desk, that way I can just sit up, pop open my medicine container, chug down some water, and then go back to sleep for the hour until I'm able to eat. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned one morning. I'd gotten out of bed and taken my medicine and then, out of the blue, my hand just loses its grip on my glass of water. This has never happened to me before (it was a result of my NMO - I've been feeling pretty weak lately, especially my legs). I wasn't all that tired, I wasn't readjusting the glass, I hadn't bumped into anything... I wasn't moving at all! My grip just loosened and I hadn't even realized it down it until everything was wet - INCLUDING MY LAPTOP!
I immediately shut my laptop off, ran to the bathroom to grab a towel and dried off the keyboard (which is where all the water went), dried the laptop off with my hair dryer, took out the battery, and then kept my laptop upside down for a full 24 hours. I was petrified the next day when turning it on. My parents and the computer repair guy we'd spoken to were all encouraged it would be fine since I took such quick action, but I was absolutely terrified it was going to be ruined. It took me 7 times to turn on my laptop. Once I plugged it in it booted up, then shut down again, then I was finally able to get it to stay on. All my files were still good. My keyboard on the other hand was another matter, which makes sense since it got most of the water. The keyboard worked, but none of the keys were what they should be, so there was no way for me to type unless I did it with the on-screen keyboard and I didn't want to pick through each key separately, so I just made a plan to take the laptop in and get the keyboard repaired.
Before I did that, I wanted to get an external hard drive just in case something happened when the repairman was working on it. I'd had another repairman completely DESTROY my hard drive when he was supposed to be taking it out for me so I could use it on another laptop, so I wasn't going to take any chances this time. We went to Walmart a few days later and got it and just as I was plugging it in to transfer everything, I automatically tried to rename it (I like to do that with my drives) before I remembered my keyboard wasn't working. Except it was. I opened up Microsoft Word and was amazed to find that my keyboard had fixed itself. I guess it just needed more time to dry. Since it was fixed, I didn't need to use the hard drive (I'm going to use it to store my videos on).
That was only one problem, however. I have a huge eBook library and I've been trying to organize it with the Calibre app. I wanted to be able to find a specific genre (like cozy mystery, thriller, etc.,) without having to look through every single one. Once I had all my books in Calibre I decided just to export a list of everything, so that it would take up less space. So, I did that and then got rid of Calibre. Somehow, and I honestly don't know how, my folder of 'books to read' was gone. I searched everywhere on my laptop for it until I realized that the entire folder had gotten moved to Calibre and that Calibre had deleted it when it uninstalled. I keep my books separated by series, title, etc., and no other folder was in there aside from the 'books to read'. I had my monthly books; books for October/Halloween; series I wanted to re-read/read... it was all just gone. I was able to pull most of it off my Kindle Paperwhite, but one series I couldn't get back.
If that wasn't enough, I was without Internet connection for the longest time. My parents both had it, and I had it on my phone, but my laptop just wasn't connecting. I'd tried turning it off and back on at least three times, which always works, but this time it didn't. Finally, after the last time, I decided to check for any problems and my laptop immediately found and fixed it and it was restored late last night.
(This is unedited. I've been dealing with so much inflammation lately that I don't have the energy (physical or emotional) to write a post and then edit it. Sorry for any mistakes, which I'm sure there are).
