putting it out there- i wonder if there is no actual heaven or hell in dbda. now i understand that we see people go off to what appears to be a "good" or "bad" place, based on the blue light vs red light, and there is definitely some form of Punishment. but edwin's hell seems distinctly christian, and part of me wonders if that is because he was taught that. like, maybe it's one of those 'the afterlife you believe in is what you get' situations. or even, perhaps, what edwin has dubbed as lust and gluttony aren't strictly for that; that's just what edwin has labeled it as such in order to comprehend it. because we know there are punishments outside strictly the seven deadly sins - dollhouse, maxine, simon. so i wonder if it's more based on what punishment is worst for you, and for some people it is endlessly eating and endless sex, and for some people it's sitting in a room trapped with you own guilt and the false hope of escape, and for some it's sitting on a staircase with absolutely no idea why you are there or what is to come next

i dunno i just think it's interesting that all of the afterlife seems rather secular or ambiguous, and then you've got edwin and the seven deadly sins.

something weird i like about the relationship between the sandman universe comics vs tv shows are that even though they came out about like ~40ish years apart from each other they dont really seem to change that much (well for the sandman not so much dbd) they still take place in the same year they come out

like comics edwin and charles met in 1990 because the first time they appear was in 1990, and later the dbd comics came out in 2014-15 so the comics are set in 2014-15, so theyve been friends for about 20 years, vs the show that takes place 2024 or 10 years after the spinoff comics, where they met 1989 so now theyve been friends for 30 years

as for sandman the comics were first published in like 1987 and time moves in universe as each new volume is published. like theyll talk about smth that happened in the first volume and refer to it how ever many years its been since its been published

like time moves with the adaptations if that makes sense? idk i think its neat

watched the first ep of Dead Boy Detectives today, did anyone also think the dialogue was a bit clunky?

I don't mean it was unwatchable or anything i just feel like it didn't feel realistic the way they introduced the characters and world... It felt like the dialogue was for the viewer instead of an in character thing. We were gonna be introduced to a viewer surrogate within the first few minutes, there was no need to have the characters who already know how the show's world works spell it out for nobody... and then explain it again when Crystal showed up? idk it felt like something I would write (not a complient) 😅

Funniest part about having an hyperfixafion on Sandman so far is the multiple instances of me waking up in the middle of the night half delirious(ha) and saying some variation of 'what the fuck is that about??' into the darkness of my room after an out of pocket dream as if the man has personal beef with me or something
