Day 12
Album: In Utero by Nirvana
Have I listened before? not the whole album, but i'm sure i've heard at least one or two of these songs out in the wild before
Familiarity with the artist: i know Nirvana of course by reputation and by their biggest hits but I don't think I've ever willingly sat down and listened to them
Background Knowledge:
the third and final studio album by the American rock band Nirvana, released on September 21, 1993
although lead singer and songwriter Kurt Cobain claimed that the album was "very impersonal", many of its songs contain heavy allusions to his personal life and struggles
critics praised the album's raw, unconventional sound and Cobain's lyricism, and the album has been certified 6 times Platinum in the US and has sold 15 million copies worldwide
it was Nirvana's final album before Cobain's suicide, six months later
Interesting Info:
Nirvana wanted this album to sound more "raw", feeling that their last album Nevermind, had a too-polished production sound
after recording finished, rumors circulated that DGC might not release the album due to producer Steve Albini's abrasive and uncommercial sound. the album was mastered by Bob Ludwig to achieve a more desirable sound for both Nirvana and their label
Albini was known in the American independent music scene for his criticism of the mainstream music industry and had a strict preference for analog recording rather than digital. he had previously criticized Nirvana, calling them "R.E.M. with a fuzzbox", but accepted the job nonetheless because he felt sorry for them, being at the mercy of their major record label
Listened on: Apple Music
Listening Notes:
guitar sound is nice and loud
very 90s sounding (ofc lol)
not a fan of the screaming :/
"Heart-Shaped Box" is nice though- i like the growl and grit in his voice on this song on the chorus contrasted with the softer lyrics and instrumentalsÂ
the lyrics are interesting but sometimes they're kind of giving guy who thinks heâs being much deeper and mysterious than he really is
unfortunately âRape Meâ is very catchyÂ
"Dumb" is nice i like the contrast between the lighthearted instrumental and melody contrasted with the almost sarcastic/depressed lyrics
not the screaming again đ
Favorite Tracks: "Heart-Shaped Box", "Dumb", "Very Ape", "All Apologies"
Final Review: this one is tough because obviously this album is very famous and considered iconic to 90s music history but at the same time i can't help but wonder how much of that is as a result of Kurt Cobain's death and if we would view the album differently if he hadn't killed himself. obviously he was going through a lot and felt that it was important to use this album as a kind of exorcism or outlet, and you can definitely hear that in the songs, but that doesn't automatically mean that i like them or think he was doing anything unique or profound in the way he chose to express his pain. i didn't like when John Lennon screamed on Plastic Ono Band, and i don't like the screaming here either! there are some nice songs on the album, and i have a feeling that if i went more into Nirvana's back catalog i think there would be things i would like a lot more, but unfortunately for the most part this just wasn't for me

I was rewatching Stranger Things Season 2, Episode 4 (Will the Wise) and I noticed something. Willâs map looks an awful lot like something Iâd seen before, not just because Iâm rewatching it. đWhen I looked at the completed map, I couldnât help but notice it looked like veinsâlong, branching, blue tunnels racing through the body to provide blood and oxygen. I couldnât believe I hadnât noticed it before, but it makes so much sense.
Iâve had a theory for a while now that Willâs blood is the answer to destroying the Upside Down, and this discovery proves it. Will describes the Mindflayerâs attack as âgrowing, spreading, killing, [Will] felt it everywhere.â He says he feels [MF] in his house and inside himself. The vines Will draws are described as tunnels beneath Hawkins, spreading their deadly poison to unsuspecting people. What if all of Hawkins, Willâs house, the pumpkin patch, everything, is a metaphor for Willâs mind/body. Stay with me here.
If the house represents Willâs mind/body and the tunnels are his veins, whatâs inside them? Whatâs doing the growing, spreading, and killing? HIV. Somehow, perhaps from Lonnie or Vecna (Season 1), or perhaps en utero, Will contracted HIV, he just doesnât know it. He doesnât have the words to communicate what he feels, so he describes it as something racing through his body, slowly killing him. While HIV is well-researched and manageable today, it was not so in the 1980s. HIV was new, potent, and extremely caustic. People (mostly young, gay men) died from AIDS (late-stage HIV) by the thousands. There was no effective treatment and medications like Prep didnât come onto the market until 2012! HIV was a death sentence, seen as shameful and disgusting thanks in large part to its connection with the LGBTQ+ community.
According to the CDC, (https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/whatishiv.html ) HIV has three main stages
1) Acute HIV
The person is recently infected, highly contagious, and may experience flu-like symptoms. Itâs important to get checked when this happens so you donât inadvertently infect others!
2) Chronic HIV
The person has had HIV for a while and may show less symptoms. Their viral load (how much HIV in in their blood) changes based on whether they take their medication. Proper medication management significantly reduces the chances of spreading HIV to partners.
3) AIDS (Late-Stage HIV)
AIDS is terminal. Most people live about three years once they reach this stage. People with AIDS risk getting âopportunistic infectionsâ Aka: germs they canât fight off with their destroyed immune system.
Looking at this information, I estimate Will to be in Stage Two. I believe he was first infected before he was rescued in the Upside Down (see slug down his throatâremind you of anything?)
He throws up, seems awfully pale afterwards, and stays in the hospital for a while. The HIV (or Upside Down equivalent) was introduced to his system and it made him incredibly ill. Now, come Season 2, Willâs been home for a year and his body has adjusted to this illness. He doesnât like talking about it, but it affects him everyday in the form of his visions. His viral load changes based on whether or not heâs having visions and comes to a head during the exorcism. Black veins cover his head and neck as he reaches out to attack his own mother.
Thereâs also a chance Will contracted HIV en utero and could link back to Hopper and his Agent Orange experience in Vietnam. We know many of Hopperâs friends who served with him had children born with various disabilities, so it could make sense Will was born with HIV (along with El since I prescribe to the Will and El are twins separated at birth theory). I also believe Hopper NOT Lonnie is Will/Elâs biological father, making this theory much more plausible. Hopper said he knew the risks of trying to conceive with his Agent Orange exposure, but his wife wanted children so badly that he did it anyway. The scene with Will attempting to strangle Joyce could be the writers way of illustrating the pain that comes from getting an illness you did not control. He was punishing her, in a sense, for forcing him to live with this incurable condition.
Now, going back to the map, what does this mean for Season 5? Well, I believe Willâs blood will be the key to stopping the Upside Down. Iâm not sure exactly what that will look like, but it will be incredibly dramatic and fulfilling. We know from Season 1 that Demogorgons are attracted to blood, so maybe they use Willâs blood to lure the Demogorgons somewhere and kill them? That would be cool! Either way, Willâs blood is important and he was drawing VEINS in the houseâillustrating the Upside Down and HIV quickly taking over his life, threatening to kill him. Closing the Gate equals succumbing to the disease, and the exorcism is him fighting for his life.
Ps: Vines (how Hopper describes Willâs drawings) and Veins have the same letters. Just leaving that here

The Exorcism Review
I had no idea this movie existed until it arrived in our theater. The only thing I knew about it was starring Russell Crowe, and apparently has nothing to do with the Exorcist franchise. Nor does it have anything to do with the Pope's Exorcist, another demonic possession movie starring Russell Crowe, as well as nothing to do with The Last Exorcism, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Exorcism of Molly Hartley, The Exorcism of Anna Ecklund, Exorcism: The Possession of Gail Bowers, Anneliese: The Exorcist Tapes, My Best Friend's Exorcism, American Exorcism, The Exorcism in Amarillo, The Exorcism of God, Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism, Exorcism: Haunted Child, Blackwater Valley Exorcism, The Amityville Exorcism, Exorcism at 60,000 Feet, 13 Exorcisms, Exorcism in Utero, Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil, The Exorcists, Exorcist Vengeance, or The Exorcist: Italian Style.
Wow Roan. Way to list every movie you've found on Wikipedia with the word Exorcism or Exorcist in it. You want to stall the review that badly? Yes, Buggnutz. Yes I do. Because this movie is a Lovecraftian enigma. Any part of this film I comprehend I do not understand, and any part I can understand I do not comprehend. It has been hours since I've seen the movie, at time of posting, and I still can't quite internalize what I saw.
What's This Movie About?
A remake of "the classic horror movie" is plagued by a demon possessing Russell Crowe. There's a bunch of other things that happen in the movie too, but I can't adequately explain what they were or why they happened.
What I Like.
Russell Crowe being so good at acting that he can't play a character who acts badly. That sounds like a backhanded compliment. YEAH, WELL, THAT'S WHAT WE ARE WORKING WITH HERE.
What I Didn't Like.
A movie like this makes me kinda wish that I did a video reviews instead of written ones, just so I could gesticulate wildly with a concerned look on my face, making confused grunts before staring into the camera in shock. Because putting how this movie made me feel into words is a Sisyphean task. Where to even begin...
Every part of this movie is bad. The acting, except for Russell Crowe, is awkward. The editing is stupid. The effects and scares are cliched. The cinematography is obnoxious. The script is confusing, and the dialogue is laughable. The plot has a good idea, but bogs itself down with dumb shit because, well, because the writer/director though it would be edgy. And here's the rub: Individually, these aspects aren't the worst I've seen. With the exception of the plot, Madame Web was worse in every regard than this one. But all together, these ingredients make a shit stew that I was laughing at in the beginning, but it quickly began to stank and ruined what little bits of the experience I was enjoying.
Things this movie ruined for me: The premise. I didn't realize going into it that the idea was that a movie was being haunted, and I think that's fun. The most interesting thing the movie does with it is has cliched demonic possession/exorcism scenes take place in sets. The idea of Russell Crowe maybe just relapsing is ruined by the very obvious signs that he's possessed and everyone being too fucking stupid to realize that the fat guy contorting like Reagan and magically flickering the lights isn't just off his meds. There's a real priest on set who's skeptical of the more esoteric and mystical parts of his belief, which is interesting until they just drop that characterization and have him make possibly the stupidest fucking decision a character in a demonic possession movie could make at the end. I thought they did a good job making Russell Crowe look tormented and miserable, but then I realized that EVERYONE in the film looks like that. Seriously, even at the happy ending the characters look like they haven't slept in five days. I don't know if that was intentional or not but I felt really bad for the actors.
Let's have a quick digression about the Exorcist. This movie really wants to be an Exorcist sequel. The movie that the actors in the movie are working on is blatantly the reboot to the movie, they just don't have the license to say that in the movie. There is a lot of imagery from the Exorcist kinda haphazardly shoved in, only slightly skewed so that way they can't get sued. Honestly, that could all be fine. My issue comes from the feeling that the director's favorite part of the Exorcist is the part where Reagan tells the priest "Your mother sucks cocks in hell!". It feels like The Exorcism keeps trying to one-up it some how. I really didn't need Russell Crowe telling his daughter he'd eat her pussy better than her girlfriend. Roan, you're gonna complain about vulgarity? You swear worse than a sailor with Tourette's. Fair, but my issue isn't that the the movie is vulgar. My issue is it feel exploitative. Russell Crowe has a tragic backstory where he was molested as an alter boy, and it's just in the movie so we can have an highly unnecessary and gross flashback and the director can be mean to him about it for like two scenes. (The director character in the story, not the actual director of the movie. I'll be charitable and assume Russell Crowe wasn't made fun of for being sexually assaulted while working on this movie by Joshua John Miller.)
Final Summation.
I don't even know what to put here. I've basically done my three ending tricks in the review itself, so what's left? Well, maybe tell us whether you liked the movie or not? OH YEAH I FUCKING LOVED IT.

"i almost said 3 for 4 but then i remembered 2 ROSES, euf." where is two roses from? because the earliest reference I can think of is related to Dirk.
Yeah, the line is sourced from the âpornâ Dirk drew for Caliborn (though itâs technically âdouble rosesâ? oh well). I was using the phrase to reference the motif of Rose absorbing herself.Â
Like⌠okay, you know how Rose becoming her Ultimate Self (allegedly) involves absorbing the experiences of infinite Roses or whatever, most of whom are necessarily from doomed timelines? Thereâs precedent for that when the Rose affiliated with Davesprite dissolved into the void, with an indeterminate amount of her consciousness/experience reassembling within alpha!Rose (which tangentially, sounds a bit like being possessed?). That much is straightforward, I think Rose even used it as a reference point to explain her âconditionâ to John.
Elsewhere, this motif is invoked by Kanaya, who manifests for Rose right after Rose declares her intent to suicide bomb the Green Sun:
GA: Your Hubris Is Really AstonishingGA: Easily Twice The Mass Of A Universe I ThinkGA: That It Hasnt Collapsed Upon Itself Into A Tiny Lavender Singularity Is The Most Striking Marvel Paradox Space Has Coughed Up Yet
TT: Maybe it did?TT: Maybe thatâs what went wrong.TT: We figured it out!
Kanaya has foreshadowed the recipe for the Green Sun (and its eventual collapse into a black hole) within an analogy for Roseâs ego, as if to suggest that Rose herself is composed of two bodies â which I suppose is literally true, insofar as Rose has absorbed (?) doomed!Rose by this point. The conflation suggests that destroying the Green Sun is itself a metaphor for Roseâs suicide, in addition to the overt fact of Rose intending to kill herself in order to destroy it.
I think⌠I can make a useful comparison here:
Roseâs excision of the green orb (which is labeled as the Green Sun via the embedded captchalogue card) is an image akin to Dirkbot ripping his uranium heart out and exploding. Call it an exorcism maybe, a ghost-busting of the self.
There are two lines from the bit where Rose is exploding the shell that strike me as particularly relevant:
GA: Ill Do The Thing You Do When You Dont Say AnythingGA: ââŚ"TT: One simple word can so easily begin a story in a very thick book.TT: But I guess we wonât open this one?
TT: Have you ever written a message you regretted instantly upon sending?
Recall that Kanaya will later refer to the ellipsis as a âpregnant pauseâ. Thus the onset of language is a birth (as elaborated in Some Words on Openbound). The word â written by an author â becomes the life of a story book character. Thus Roseâs second line, considered from the perspective of a god-author, would seem to amount to wondering if God regrets making her â if the series of divinely composed messages that constitute Rose Lalonde were a mistake. If the theological spin strikes you as outlandish, consider that in this very conversation Kanaya (manifesting for Rose) finds herself musing on âThe Nature Of⌠The Authorâ (of Roseâs gamefaq). This bolsters the above, I think.
This is actually the point at which Kanayaâs suspicion towards the gods of the Furthest Ring actually seems somewhat warranted; they compel Rose (through the memories of her doomed self) to burn that which constitutes her being, the book. Iâve mentioned before that life itself is regarded as a terrible imposition in Homestuck, a hostile insertion of vitality into the un-consenting dead. I think this is why Kanaya, who is trying to talk Rose off the ledge, also threatens her with a wizard who will blast her full of Hope: those are the same thing, insofar as hopeful people are less inclined to kill themselves. As with the thundering injunction to live, the wand of hope is phallic.
This is, incidentally, the point at which the Green Sun as symbol of oneâs (imbued) life is reconciled with my previous view of the Green Sun as a symbol of trauma: birth is /itself/ traumatic for the born. John developed a fear of heights from falling off the ghostly slime pogo, but anxiety towards falling reflects Johnâs gnawing sense that he was once pure spirit in the balls of God, now crudely inserted into miserable flesh (x).
Which brings us to the other incidence of TWO ROSES: the escape from Momâs lab. Iâve discussed elsewhere (x)(x) that the chessboard is (among other things) a womb symbol in Homestuck â the same is true of the X on a map (x). So when Rose exit the lab via an X at the center of a glowing chessboard (within a cloning facility!), she is being symbolically âbornâ. And not only Rose, but also the deceased Jaspers she brings with her! As developed in the above links, the first passage of dead!Jaspers out the escapalizer represented a stillborn child Mom had prior to Rose. After the second passage with Rose, she checks herself to see if she has mixed atoms with the cat, a suspicion that anticipates her later merger with doomed!Rose. In sum, the scenes seem to communicate that Rose suspects herself to /already/ be composed of two Roses, one living, the other (effectively?) dead.
The next time we see Rose ascending the image of the Green Sun, she is simultaneously approaching Jaspers. This groks with the view of Green Sun as trauma, since the (presumed) drowning of Jaspers instigated Roseâs fear of water, and her wish to reunite with the cat motivated her to play Sburb. BUT ALSO Jaspers represents the dead!Rose with which Rose seeks to reunite, as though she saw her own body upon the riverbank? So their something suicidal to the gesture of union, just as with Davesprite, whose functions as a pivot for Dave thinking about becoming/killing himself. âBeing yourselfâ implies a lack inhibition, which is why Jasprose is the most indulgent lesbian in the world â but in Homestuck, the matter of âbecoming yourselfâ is inextricable intertwined with images of suicide.
But anyway, to actually answer your question, there was a point where I was convinced that Rose had literally absorbed a twin in utero. But since this contradicted her ectobirth, I was super confused! (EDIT: A softened stance would that Rose simply believes herself to have absorbed her dead twin, a fantasy of her own origins. This is compatible with all the above, and perhaps generates some interesting narrative foiling with her twin Dave, who occasionally suspects that he is already dead)

Italian Wrecking Ball NAGA Emerges With âWormâ
~Doomed & Stoned Debuts~
By Billy Goate
Weâve got a double-whammy for you today!  Celebrated Naples threesome NAGA are back with an exclusive track and are opening up for their first interview in a while.  If youâre new to the music of Lorenzo De Stefano (vocals/guitar), Emanuele Schember (bass), Dario Graziano (drums), I canât think of a better description than their own: ââŚdistortion, heaviness and nihilism to your ears.  No concept, no bullshits, no happiness, just sound anger and frustration to exorcize and reflect the greyness and despair of contemporary world.â  Now thatâs something I can really raise my horns to.
Nagaâs second album, âInanimateâ (2016), is absolutely crushing (I raved about it in our quarterly âDoom Around The Worldâ). Â Since its digital release, the band has been picked up by Everlasting Spew Records, which is releasing Inanimate on CD on March 25th (you can order it here). Â For this special edition, NAGA has recorded a new single, which Doomed & Stoned is premiering today.
âWormâ opens with sparse textures. Â A dissonant theme is introduced in single string plucks. Â Soon, this erupts into a storm of cacophony. Â The vocals are ravings of madness. Â The dense atmosphere is one of opaque gloom, with sheets of rain pouring down from blackened, low-hanging clouds. Â NAGA has orchestrated a mood of perfect doom, something that echoes entirely throughout Inanimate.

An Interview with NAGA Frontman Lorenzo De Stefano
By Mari Knox
Doomed & Stoned Italy)
You started playing music together almost 15 years ago, in the beginning with a band called KTER (Kill The Easter Rabbit) and later, in 2013, you have founded Naga. Â A long evolution that brought you good feedback since the debut album 'HÄnâ (2014). Â Your musical path is clearly the result of a strong partnership, something thatâs hard to find. What does unite you? And what pushed you to start a band?
Basically, we are friends, kind of brothers, so it was completely natural to stick together and start up a band. We just share the same idea of music and life in general. We met in Lyceum and, at that time, in Naples it was not that easy to find someone to share the same idea of music with, and still this is the case.  We both liked heavy stuff like MotĂśrhead, Melvins, Slayer, and Electric Wizard so It was natural to come by and say âhey letâs start a band together.â  Basically, we feel music in the same way and thatâs what unites us.  Then we found in Dario the natural 3rd part. Iâve played with many drummers, but Dario is the best one.  He shares our musical tastes, heâs a really clever and skilled musician, and above all a dear friend.  Now we have a clear idea of how our band has to sound, and thatâs it.
Staying on topic, tell us how your songs come to life and what inspired the 'Inanimate.â Â Is there a theme, a concept, to your song writing and how do the lyrics tie in?
We have to distinguish the musical composition and the lyrics. Â The writing process is really natural like, âHey guys, I have this riff. What do you think?â Â A major impulse comes from Dario, who I always say is the best guitar player of the band. Â Heâs amazingly creative and our ideas really fit together. Â Basically, we develop every song from a riff then we add parts to that. Â I organize the structure and only at the end comes the vocal part.
I am the only writer of the lyrics since we started and, no, thereâs no concept. Â Maybe Iâd like to write a concept in the future, but right now Iâve got no time. Â The only remarkable theme of our lyrics is nihilism, but sometimes with a sort of bright side outside the Abyss. Â I am mainly inspired by my personal life and my lectures.
'Inanimateâ was initially released by Lay Bare Recordings in 2016. Â This year, you have chosen to reissue it whit a new track, âWorm,â on the thriving Italian label, Everlasting Spew Records. Â How did you get in contact with them and with this repress, what kind of improvement you have brought to the album?
The EP sold out in just a month. Â Lots of people asked us for a repress, so we just looked for someone interested in re-releasing our work. Â Luckily, we found Everlasting Spew, thanks to our manager Tito Vespasiani, who set up everything with the label. Â We have found in Giorgio from Everlasting a really helpful and cool guy. Â The label is young and ambitious just like us, so we can grow up together.
Obviously, we want to reprint to be something special, so we recorded the new track âWormâ that sounds more death metal oriented, in order to increase the impact of the album, and decorated everything with a brand new master by the almighty James Plotkin. Â You canât go wrong with him.
Talk aboute bands or the records that have influenced you most as musicians and helped you develop your personal sound. Â Are there other kinds of influences, like art and literature, as well?
Speaking of the bands or albums I love, I have to mention, of course, the first five LPs of Black Sabbath, 'Abbey Roadâ by the Beatles, '1969â by The Stooges, 'Hell Awaitsâ by Slayer, 'Bleach/In Uteroâ by Nirvana, Celtic Frostâs 'Morbid Tales,â 'Transylvanian Hungerâ by Darkthrone, Carcassâ 'Necroticism,â Sonic Youth and, naturally, Neurosis and all the doom, sludge, and black metal stuff. Â We like also old Swedish death metal and some newer stuff from God City studios, Converge Nails, H.O.F. and so on.
But I have to say that no particular band has inspired us in our style. Â We try to be personal and evolve by ourselves in shaping the sound and in the creative process. Â Then, I really like to see live bands, most of all I am a music fan, and I like to capture here and there things I like in order to incorporate them in our music. Â Itâs an important part, Iâd say pedagogical, in developing our style.
Apart from music, I read more than I play guitar, so of course my interests in philosophy and literature are a huge part of my life and give me inspiration for my lyrics and atmospheres. Â I am not really into this occult or movie stuff, itâs just a clichĂŠ of our music genre. Â I prefer to write about my personal life and something that really touches me or that has influenced my life path, hybridized sometimes with philosophical themes. Â Nietzsche, JĂźnger, and Heidegger are a big influence for my lyrics, just like Sabbath are for my playing. Â I am just tired of bands that sings about voodoo magic, weed, barbarians, and fantasy stuff. Â Itâs a little prosaic, or at least it does not work with us. Â Instead, I like Neurosis or Amenraâs lyrical approach. Â âThrives,â âHyele,â and âWormâ from Inanimate are a good example of that.
Photographs by Francesco Guerra
At the moment, youâre ready to play with Candlemass in northern Italy and this summer you will play in a big festival in Iceland (with a lot of important acts like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Neurosis, SĂłlstafir, MisĂžyrming and many more). Â How do you feel about playing live? Are there any past gigs that you think have been more important than others, something you still remember as âspecialâ?
Playing live is the most important part. Â I really dig bands that kick ass live. Â We just try to be natural, to play at the loudest volume possible, and to be violent. Â We stay simple. Â We arenât the band that takes too much time to sound check monitors and stuff like that. Â We like to be âin your face,â to come out and play. Â Thatâs why I regard NAGA basically as a punk/hardcore band, concerning the approach and attitude. Â We do not have any filter -- we like to play straight and direct, thatâs all.
Concerning the past live shows, I would mention the Watchtower Festival in Pisa with Napalm Death, Church of Misery and The secret, where we met those amazing guys Michael, Lorenzo and Marco (from the Secret/Hyerophant), the Glue lab in Ancona, Tetris in Trieste, and two concerts in our city Naples, the first at Cellar with Marnero, and another on a harbor in the middle of Naplesâs gulf called Molosiglio, two D.I.Y. concerts, fully packed with 200-300 people and lots of friends. Do not ever underestimate Naplesâ scene. We belong here. Itâs a lot better and hotter than others although not publicized.
During your musical career, you have seen lots of changes, first of all the âsocial-mediaâ revolution, which can help bands to expand their possibilities outside their own country. What do you think about this and have you noticed some differences between past and present? What do you think about the current musical scene in Italy and abroad?
Social media are a double edged sword. It allows bands to spread their message and music around the world, but itâs something that could saturate the scene too. The problem with social media is that now you have to take care of lots of other stuff apart from music, the image, the posts, news and so on. I do not really like this aspect. Emanuele is a little more skilled than me in this, I am not good at it. But, of course, Facebook and Bandcamp have been helping us a lot, same goes with Discogs and eBay where you can spread your music worldwide. I knew our first record Hen was in the hands of Tad Doyle of Tad/Brothers of the Sonic Cloth or in the ones of Mike Scheidt of Yob and it was pretty amazing, since Iâve been listening to these bands since I was 15.
About the scene, I think that now there are many good bands around not only in our genre, the problem is sometimes the public and the live culture. In Germany, where I am at the moment, people go to see live shows buy merch and so on. In Italy, things are going slower, you have to plan carefully every event and so on. But I can not complain about Naples and Italy. In general, we have always had an amazing audience and a good feedback.
Speaking of Italian bands Iâd mention above all Grime, Hyerophant, Messa, Caronte, Profanal, Fuoco Fatuo,Zippo/Shores of null, La Casta and Marnero, there are many others but these are the first coming to my mind right now.
Any closing thoughts for the Doomed & Stoned readers?
