Tumblr media
In today's competitive job market, the importance of a well-crafted resume and a strong online presence cannot be overstated. For IT executives, in particular, having an impressive resume and LinkedIn profile is crucial for career advancement. But the question arises: Should you write your resume yourself, or should you seek the services of a professional resume writer?
In this blog, we will discuss the benefits of hiring a professional resume writer, especially for IT executives. We'll also explore the role of a LinkedIn profile writer and why utilizing a resume writing service is a strategic move. Let's dive in.
1. Expertise in IT Executive Resumes

Your LinkedIn profile is your online professional identity. A LinkedIn profile writer can create a compelling and engaging profile that aligns with your resume. This consistency can help you stand out among IT executive candidates. Moreover, a professionally written LinkedIn profile can help you connect with industry peers, receive more connection requests, and be discovered by recruiters.
3. Time Savings
IT executives often have hectic schedules and little time to spare. Writing a resume and optimizing a LinkedIn profile can be time-consuming. Hiring a resume writing service can save you valuable hours, allowing you to focus on your job search and career goals while experts take care of the details.
4. Tailored for the Job Market
The job market is ever-evolving, and what worked in the past might not work today. Professional resume writers stay updated with the latest trends, best practices, and applicant tracking systems. They know how to create a resume that aligns with current hiring expectations and industry standards.
5. A Competitive Edge
Competition for IT executive positions is fierce. Your resume needs to set you apart from other candidates. A professional resume writer can help you craft a document that highlights your unique skills and achievements, showcasing you as the top candidate for the job.

7. Keyword Optimization
In the digital age, many resumes go through applicant tracking systems (ATS) before they reach human eyes. Professional resume writers are skilled in optimizing resumes with relevant keywords, ensuring your resume passes through ATS filters and gets in front of decision-makers.
8. Resume Customization
Every IT executive's journey is unique. A professional resume writer will customize your resume to match your career goals and aspirations. Whether you're aiming for a higher-level position or transitioning to a new role, they can tailor your resume accordingly.
9. Confidence Boost
Knowing that your resume and LinkedIn profile are in expert hands can boost your confidence during your job search. You can approach interviews and networking opportunities with the assurance that your documents represent you in the best possible way.
10. Maximizing Your Investment
Hiring a professional resume writer is an investment in your future. A well-crafted resume and LinkedIn profile can lead to better job offers, higher salaries, and quicker career progression, ultimately paying for themselves in the long run.
Conclusion
In conclusion, for IT executives, the decision to hire a professional resume writer is crucial. Their expertise, industry knowledge, and ability to create standout resumes and LinkedIn profiles can significantly enhance your career prospects. Genshin Impact: Beneath His Gaze
Summary: In which you’re Capitano’s executive assistant who’s a little too good at their job (and coincidently, very good-looking too).
Or, Capitano hates competition, after all, you belong to him.
Pairing: Jealous! Il Capitano x Strong! Male Reader ft. Pantalone and Dottore
Note: Yes. Capitano single-handedly took me out of my writer’s block. That 5.0 update was quite something. This became longer than I ever expected.
Warning: Slight NSFW. Possessive behaviour, flirting, biting and non-consensual touching. Capitano has claws and sharp tongue.
★・・・・・・★
Il Capitano is a fearsome man.
True to his title, he is powerful but honorable, respected yet feared by all. Perhaps it was his tall statue, the dark mysterious mask he dons, or maybe, it was his silent demeanor.
Or perhaps his ruthless means and aura that screamed death.
People do not simply stroll up to Capitano like they would with Tartaglia, but he detests flies regardless.
Then he met you, with almost an impressive statue matching himself, but with a much more…approachable face. Pretty as the Damselette would call you.
You were competent, strong, and most importantly, adaptable. A face that could be remembered from either side of the light and dark.
People described you as the face of an angel, but cunning like the devil. Hence, he promoted you to his only assistant (after all, he needs no assistants, much less bodyguards). However, you seemed to do more than what is required for a mere assistant.
“Master. Please, have some tea.” When you bring him tea and snacks in the middle of work.
“Master, the weather is cold outside, please take this.” When you give him a heat pack, imbued with your pyro powers.
“Master, please allow me to take care of these vermin for you.” When you reduced his anger with a slight touch on his hand on his sword, which almost would have destroyed a major section of his mansion.
Capitano will not admit it, however, his life seems to be filled with a lot of noise, albeit it becoming much easier, and warmer.
“Don’t you think Commander (Y/N) would make a good malewife?”
Capitano freezes in his steps. Honed in battle, naturally his senses are much more sensitive than others.
“Are you drunk? I know you’re gay, but how could you go after the Commander? Didn’t you remember how terrifying he was when he almost worked us to death in training?”
There was a little infuriating laugh.
“But, have you seen him smile and compliment us? Can you blame me? Have you seen others ogling at his half naked body after training? Hey, didn’t you have a crush on him?”
“T-That was before, and quiet down. Someone might hear you.”
“I wonder how he would taste…” Steps resumed in the halls, this time, they were quick, but silent.
“You’re crazy. C’mon, let’s go before someone hears-”
“Think about it, he has a big chest, and his ass-”
“Shut up-”
Suddenly, a large shadow casts over them and they slowly turn around, suddenly feeling cold all over.
“Master-”
A scream, before silence finally returned to the halls.
“Master.” Il Capitano hands you his coat as always, often stained with blood.
But as always, it was never his.
“Master, Allow me to serve you tea. I obtained this from Sumeru, and it has quite the enticing scent…”
Again, you chatted as you prepared tea for Capitano, starting from small pleasantries, to his schedule and current affairs. You stood beside him as always and even though your Master did not say a single word of response to you, you knew he was listening.
Everything was a routine and a reward to you, after all, you were very honoured to assist someone as highly regarded as Il Capitano.
As fearsome as your Master appears, he allows you to speak your mind, and use his authority as necessary. It was difficult to obtain his trust and you were happy with your progress, even if you had to hide your disgusting feelings for him.
Yes, you had a crush on this man who everyone fears.
After all, who doesn’t like a rich, powerful, and respected man?
“Sit.” Suddenly, your Master commanded you. You stop in your ramblings at his command, and you obey. Respectfully seating yourself to his right with a look of quiet surprise.
You were used to following his orders without question, but Capitano rarely asked you to sit with him like this. Normally, you were too busy managing his affairs or reporting on the state of his forces to sit idly.
As well, he did not touch his tea once today.
Capitano’s mask obscured most of his face, but you could still feel the weight of his gaze on you, heavy and intense. It was as if he was measuring you, trying to read your thoughts, though you kept your face carefully neutral.
Finally, he took a slow sip of the tea, his silence stretching on as he continued to watch you. You shifted slightly in your seat, feeling the intensity of his focus, but you didn’t falter. After all, this was Capitano—your Master. You had served under him for years, and you pride yourself on your ability to remain composed, no matter the situation.
Finally, he spoke, his voice a low rumble.
“Do you know what they say about you?”
You blink, caught off guard by the sudden question.
“What do you mean, Master?”
“The Fatui agents. The ones who flirt with you. The ones who look at you as though you are theirs to claim.” Capitano’s words were clipped, and you could hear the irritation lacing his tone.
“Do you know how they speak about you?”
Your brows furrowed as you recalled those moments. A fleeting regret crossed your mind; you should have dealt with those pests like everyone else.
After all, you’ve maintained your image and physical appearance only for your Master, and no one else.
“Master, please forgive me, I will ensure this will not happen again. I assure you that their actions do not affect my duties.”
Capitano’s eyes darkened, his claws gripping the arm of his chair with enough force to make the wood creak.
“That’s not what I asked.”
The tension in the room thickened, and for the first time, you felt a flicker of unease. Capitano rarely raised his voice or showed any outward signs of frustration, but now… there was something different in the air.
“I… don’t concern myself with such things, Master,” you answered carefully. “My focus is on serving you and fulfilling my responsibilities.”
He stood abruptly, his large form towering over you, casting a shadow across the room. His claws reached down, grabbing your wrist with a firm but controlled grip.
“And yet, they continue. They think they can speak about you as if you’re theirs to take, as if they have any right.”
You looked up at him, the weight of his words sinking in. There was no mistaking the intensity in his voice, the tension that simmered just beneath the surface. It was an emotion you hadn’t expected from him, at least not toward you.
Could it be-
“Master, I—”
Before you could finish, Capitano pulled you up from your seat with one arm, his strength undeniable as he carried you effortlessly. Your breath hitched as you were suddenly pressed against his chest, the cold metal of his armor a stark contrast to the heat radiating from your body.
"You're mine," he growled, gripping your waist. "No one else can touch you."
Your heart raced in your chest as you stared up at him, mind spinning as you adjusted and adapted as you always had.
This was new, unexpected.
You had always been his assistant, his soldier, but now… it was clear that Capitano saw you as something more—his.
A slow, sly smile tugged at your lips.
“Master, I am loyal to you.”
Capitano’s grip on you tightened, his lips brushing dangerously close to your ear.
“Then show me. Let them know you’re mine.”
His words sent a tantalizing shiver down your spine, and for the first time, you found yourself questioning whether you were just his assistant… or something far more dangerous.
In the dim light of Capitano’s private quarters, the air was thick with tension—unspoken, yet undeniably present.
It had become a dangerous game between the two of you.
You stood by his desk, pretending to review the reports you had brought, while Capitano’s presence loomed behind you, closer than necessary. His claws brushed against your lower back, the contact brief but enough to send heat through your body. You didn't flinch; instead, you leaned into his touch ever so slightly, your pulse quickening at the daring proximity.
"You’re late," he muttered slowly, his voice like gravel, yet there was no malice in it—only something darker.
You turned to face him, a smirk dancing on your lips.
"I had to ensure no one would notice my absence. Wouldn’t want to ruin your reputation, Master."
His eyes, cold to the world, burned with a heat only you had the privilege of seeing. Without a word, he reached for you, pulling you close with a force that left no room for protest. His lips were on yours in an instant, urgent and commanding.
His claws roamed your body, memorizing every line and muscle as if you were the only thing grounding him to this world.
"Careful, Master," you whispered against his lips, your voice teasing. "If we’re caught…"
He silenced you with another kiss, rougher this time, his grip firm as he pressed you against the desk.
"No one will dare."
You reveled in it all.
As his executive assistant, your dedication to work and training had caught the attention of many, including some of the Harbingers.
One evening, after a rigorous training session with Capitano, you quickly changed to a clean appearance and immediately rushed to your Master’s office. However, it seems there were people waiting for you in the halls, which seemed to be a common occurrence recently.
This time, it wasn’t just Fatui Cicin Mages or Agents though. Much more difficult, but not hard to handle.
After all, you worked your way up to this position for a reason.
“Well well well, who do we have here?”
“Lord Dottore, Lord Pantalone. How can I be of assistance?” Dottore’s eyes gleamed with mischief as he observed you, something you were keen to notice.
“A fine specimen indeed…” He approached you casually as you stayed still and kept your eyes low.
Pantalone, ever the opportunist, leaned in with a sly grin. “I must say, you look like someone who could handle more than just being an assistant. I’m sure we could find a place for someone with your… capabilities.”
You pretend not to notice their serpentine eyes, or the sudden arm over your shoulder, or the slow squeeze on your bicep, and you couldn’t help but shiver when an arm grabbed your waist.
“How about working for me? I’ll be sure to treat you well.” A seductive whisper to your ear. And you feel trapped beside these powerful men.
Truly evil.
You returned a little smirk, which somehow seemed to intrigue them even more.
“I serve and am loyal to my current Master, however, I am honoured to receive your offer.”
Before they could respond, you felt a familiar but imposing presence approaching you. Heavy steps that suddenly decided to reveal itself.
(Y/N).” His voice was deep, drawing all eyes to him.
“Master.” You greet him as usual, and you hear a little ‘tch’ from beside you.
The halls fell silent. Pantalone and Dottore straightened, their casual airs replaced by a more respectful demeanor. Capitano’s gaze was locked onto you, and you shivered in slight excitement knowing that he was angry.
“You’re late.” Capitano states before walking off, as if prompting you to follow him. After you bid farewell to the two other amused harbingers, who seemed quite intent in touching your muscles one last time before letting you go.
You followed your Master down the hall into his office, the tension between you palpable.
Once the doors shut in his office, Capitano turned around, and you felt like you couldn’t move or breathe.
“You are quite the vixen.” Sharp claws wrapped around your throat and raised you up to his eye level.
Before you could respond, his lips crashed onto yours in a fierce, demanding kiss. The sudden intensity took you by surprise, but you quickly found yourself responding with equal fervor.
When he finally pulled away, you felt breathless as you stared back at him.
“You enjoy their attention.” he stated, disappointment evident in his voice.
“You’re mine, and yet, you dare covet something more?”
You met his gaze with a smirk, showing your true colours.
“And if I enjoy their attention?”
Capitano’s eyes darkened further. He pulled you into another heated kiss, his claws gripping your hips firmly. You were sure that would leave some bruises.
“You must be punished.”
“Master-urgh!” You resisted the urge to scream as sharp teeth sunk into your collarbone, and an alien tongue swept over your neck.
It was the right choice as you felt a pair of eyes glaring at you, so you remained silent before he dropped you onto the floor. Instantly, you inhaled sharply and struggled to catch your breath as you quickly kneeled for your life.
“Please, forgive me, Master. My life is yours.”
For Capitano, he felt a sick satisfaction seeing you beg like a little dog.
Il Capitano believed he had to tighten his leash.
During the next few days, you did your best to focus on your work, trying to push aside the lingering tension. But you could always feel a pair of cold eyes constantly on you. Especially when you interact with other people.
“Well, well, how is our little assistant holding up?” Pantalone grinned as he cornered you again in the hall. “How long before Capitano locks you away, hm?”
Dottore chuckled darkly, his fingers lightly trailing down your arm, sending a shiver through you.
“The offer is still on the table. We’d take good care of you,” he said, his voice dripping with false sweetness. “You’d be in much better hands.”
With the same fake yet alluring smile, you slowly back away from their touch. You didn’t need to say anything after all, you could practically feel him coming.
The familiar sound of heavy footsteps echoed through the corridor.
In an instant, Capitano was beside you, his claws gripping your shoulders firmly. Without a word, he pulled you away from the two Harbingers, his strength overwhelming as he practically dragged you down the hall. Pantalone and Dottore watched with amusement, smirking at the sight of Capitano’s thinly veiled rage.
You didn’t even have a chance to speak as Capitano led you into his private quarters and slammed the door shut behind you. His breathing was heavy, and his eyes—what little you could see through his mask—burned with a mixture of anger and desire.
“You’re mine,” Capitano reminded, his voice low and dangerous.
Before you could respond, he lifted you with ease, your feet leaving the ground as he pinned you against the wall. His massive claws gripped your waist and ass, claws digging into your flesh as his lips crushed against yours in a kiss.
You gasped into the kiss, and wrapped your legs around him. He clawed at your chest as if he was trying to prove a point—that you belonged to him and no one else, and you whimpered when you felt pain.
And despite everything, you found yourself leaning into him, drawn to the darkness that radiated from him.
"Master, I'm yours."
His touch was intoxicating, and even though you knew how dangerous this was, you couldn’t help but be pulled deeper into the web Capitano had spun around you.

“Receiving positive feedback from Wall Street since the WGA went on strike May 2,Warner Bros Discovery, Apple, Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Paramount and others have become determined to “break the WGA,” as one studio exec blatantly put it.
“To do so, the studios and the AMPTP believe that by October most writers will be running out of money after five months on the picket lines and no work.
“‘The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses,” a studio executive told Deadline. Acknowledging the cold-as-ice approach, several other sources reiterated the statement. One insider called it ‘a cruel but necessary evil.’
“The studios and streamers’ next think financially strapped writers would go to WGA leadership and demand they restart talks before what could be a very cold Christmas. In that context, the studios and streamers feel they would be in a position to dictate most of the terms of any possible deal.”

A Clone Wars Episode Deep Dive
I didn't discover The Clone Wars fandom until 2021 and only started watching the show in mid-2023 (finished a few months ago), and I want to discuss and analyze all sorts of odds and ends—years after most people watched. This includes cool stuff in episodes I think some fans understandably skip when doing re-watches and therefore no longer remember well, but I’m digging into one of them anyway. So, have a long post about S2:E11, "Lightsaber Lost," and then come talk to me about it if you’d like!
This episode is saying three things at once, and the closer you get to the symbolic message meant for mostly adult audiences, the wilder things get.
The literal plot: Ahsoka’s lightsaber is stolen, and she recovers it with the help of a Jedi elder who teaches her life lessons along the way.
The morality tale for young viewers: gun control (a bold choice).
An eerie interlude for older viewers: A pair of brief scenes—only 45 seconds or so in length combined—communicate the future purge of the Jedi order via symbolic visual storytelling and a speech that’s being broadcast in the background. No dialogue required.
Tumblr media
I'm going to focus on this third bullet point, but I also recommend a re-watch for the gun control angle. (Hint: if you think the writers are only arguing for handling guns responsibly, you haven’t taken the Jedi’s current context into account; also, the writers aren't referring to literal in-universe guns—Ahsoka’s lightsaber is the gun.)
Back to the episode’s message for older viewers: Split over two scenes, the audience watches Ahsoka chase a bounty hunter in possession of her lightsaber, then the bounty hunter partially damage and destabilize an enormous levitating billboard so she can get away from Ahsoka, and finally Ahsoka tumble down and precariously cling to the billboard’s screen. The billboard shows Palpatine delivering a—likely prerecorded—speech that is meant to sound supportive of the Jedi, but is instead priming Coruscant residents to believe anti-Jedi rhetoric; just before this two-scene sequence ends, Palpatine also begins to explain why he needs more executive power in order to support the Jedi.
It's great to pinpoint an example of Palatine's propaganda, but what does the visual storytelling communicate, with this speech for a backdrop?
Note: the text of Palpatine’s speech, shown in captions in the following screenshots, is not in alt text as that would chop the speech up between image descriptions, and is instead in a single paragraph after the final screenshot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Palpatine's Speech
"I have no doubt that the Jedi are doing their very best to ensure the safety of every citizen in the Republic. The accusations that the Jedi created the Clone War to give themselves more power over the government is absurd and I will not stand for it."
Ahsoka as Symbolically at Palpatine's Mercy
After a scene break, Palatine's speech picks up mid-sentence and we see just how small and vulnerable Ahsoka is compared to Palpatine's soaring and vast projection. She appears entirely at his mercy, and somewhat at the mercy of Coruscant as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Palpatine's Speech, Resumed
"…Count Dooku and his droid army. To support the Jedi's efforts in the war, I ask the Senate to pass these new laws, giving more jurisdiction…"
The Genocide to Come
As this speech is broadcast to Coruscant, the seemingly trustworthy and dependable Chancellor of the Republic symbolically collapses beneath Ahsoka and leaves her stranded over a chasm. All while Palpatine spreads propaganda that will eventually convince the public to support her people's genocide.
Perhaps the best way to describe this is:
An unarmed Ahsoka struggles to hang onto the edge of a high precipice, that precipice is a symbol for Palpatine—and in a few years, Palpatine will shove the entire Jedi order off the edge of a much higher cliff.
Given how the sheer visual scale of Palpatine in this second scene represents the power he can wield over the Jedi—as the staging emphasizes Ahsoka's relative smallness and her physical vulnerability—it's clear the Jedi will not be able to rescue themselves when this future betrayal comes; Palpatine has amassed too much power and put too many plans in place. And no one who's bought into Palpatine's propaganda will try to catch the Jedi when they go over the edge.
Ahsoka’s Survival
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahsoka’s individual survival of Order 66 is signaled here by her ability to get off the levitating billboard, but nothing about the staging suggests this comes down to unique skill—any number of well-trained Jedi could have gotten out of her predicament when the right opportunity (a single speeder that veers out of its lane and passes unusually close to the screen) presented itself.
In both “Lightsaber Lost” and "Victory and Death" (S7:E12, see below), her survival involves flinging herself through open air (and into an out-of-place flying vehicle), a nice nod to Ahsoka’s association with flight and Morai, though I feel like that’s a coincidence (?) as of season 2. Or maybe not. I have no idea if Ahsoka’s symbolic associations—flight in the case of “Lightsaber Lost,” rather than Morai specifically—were planned out in advance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What About the Propaganda?
Returning to season 2, we come to the final big-picture takeaway of the "Lightsaber Lost" scenes: I’ve referred to Palpatine’s speech as something that plays in the background because Ahsoka doesn’t pay attention to his propaganda, even though it’s literally in her face. What does this mean if we treat Ahsoka as a stand-in for the Jedi, and Palpatine’s speech as a stand-in for his growing threat to the Jedi?   In these scenes, Ahsoka first doesn’t pay attention because she’s trying to stay alive in precarious circumstances, just as Jedi across the galaxy are kept distracted from the big picture by trying to keep themselves, their Padawans, their troops, and civilians alive as war swallows up the galaxy. Then, Ahsoka is distracted by tracking the bounty hunter who has her lightsaber; in the context of this episode (which asks, ‘who should be allowed to use a lightsaber, and when?’), Ahsoka’s lightsaber also comes to represent Jedi’s efforts to fight the Clone Wars as ethically as possible. It presumably takes more time and effort to fight a war when you’re concerned with morals, at least when the opposition is perfectly happy to commit war crimes.   By tossing the Jedi into a war, Palpatine keeps them too busy to systemically search for the Master Sith (in addition to Sith stuff diminishing the Jedi’s ability to use the force), as their time is eaten up by upholding the equivalent of the Geneva and Hague Conventions (etc.) when almost no one else is, by protecting as many other lives as possible, and by staying alive.
And The Clone Wars communicates all of this in a minute! Though I’ll admit my final point about Ahsoka’s lightsaber representing ethical combat is a stretch. I love it when TV shows and movies make full use of visual storytelling, and The Clone Wars is fabulous at it.
Whew—and that’s that! I’m grateful if even a single person has read this far and would love to know what you think, but regardless, I had fun analyzing this episode and organizing my thoughts about it. Cheers to the Clone Wars fandom.

"So your sister will be coming by next week with the little ones," your mother declares as you stand at the sink, scrubbing away the remnants of roast beef and potato. "You'll get to play auntie for the day."
"Mhmm," you nod, "what about Justin?"
"Oh, your brother's down visiting with his fiance's family. He said he'd try to make if for Christmas Eve but you know how her family is."
You sniff and pretend to know. You really don't. It's all hearsay to you. You don't hear much from either siblings; they have lives, you just happen to be related.
"S-sounds great," you utter as you put another plate in the rack.
"Oh, honey, you should just use the dishwasher," she says.
"It's f-f-fine, this works," you insist.
"Well, what about you? What are you up to?" She leans on the counter.
"I..." you don't know what to say. You need a lie, anything to appease her. Your brother's engaged, your sister has the white picket fence and you have nothing, "oh, I h-have a job interview."
"You do?" She sounds thoroughly disbelieving.
"Uh, yeah, w-well," you stammer through, trying not to give away your deceit, "since n-no one wants to h-hire me in my f-field, I f-found something new."
"That's exciting," she chimes, "what is it?"
"Uh, I w-want to see i-if it turns out b-before I say," you give a tight-lipped smile, "don't want to d-disappoint you again."
"Sweetie, you're not a disappointment," she hums, "I'm always happy to see you trying."
You look down at the sink and shrug. Behind that comment is the inference that you weren't trying before. That you haven't been. The long nights with vivid nightmares don't exactly motivate you and you've been all but blacklisted as an executive assistant. Even admin roles aren't responding. Even if you do get a bite, the job market is drawn out and tedious.
"Thanks, mom."
"Just... try not to mope around the kids," she chides, "it's Christmas."
You flutter your lashes, "sure, mom."
That's what you are to everyone; weak, pathetic, useless. No, don't do that. You'll make another appointment with Lisa, she always knows what to do.
☕️
Well, this is it. A last resort. One of those freelancing websites that pays pennies. It's better than nothing and will keep you from having too big a gap on your resume. You could easily do the writing gigs, easy money for transcription. You apply to a few of those and scroll on.
You sit up as you see a particular posting that interest you. Oddly enough, the pay isn't half bad. It's also labeled as 'may lead to ongoing work'. Well, well, well, now that's something.
You click into the posting for 'Podcast Script Writer' and review the details. A sample is required for application and lucky enough, you have lots of those hanging around. If it wasn't for your stammer, you'd have an episode done by now. You deleted enough recordings to the point of giving up. Well, this is a solution. You can get your work out there without having to embarrass yourself.
You go through the application, putting in your info and editing a draft before attaching it to the application. You just hope it's thorough enough. You never really let anyone else see and hitting submit makes your stomach flip. With the final click, you close your laptop and quickly get up. Alright, you're not going to dwell on it. If you hear anything, you'll worry then.
You try to read but can't focus. It just makes you think of the posting and your application. Oh jeez, imagine you're rejected but worse, they tell you you've done everything wrong.
Appointment! You can't forget that. You login to the app and put in a request for a Zoom appointment that week. Alright, you're getting things done, you can't say you've done nothing.
You put a video on your phone and lean it on the pop out grip, propping it up on your mattress to watch the compilation of sitcom moments cut together on Youtube. Your mind wanders and your eyes begin to sag as the day shrouds you in fatigue. You slip into a shallow doze as the glare of the screen flickers over you.
The distant clack of keyboards and clicking of mouses needles behind your ears. It's as if you're trapped in a bubble of silence, all colours and noised dampened by the unseen wall. You shudder as you hear his voice, the only thing that's clear. Your name crawls up behind the shell of your ear with his breath as his hands settle on your hips. Your body aches as every muscles tightens and your bones lock in place. Please, no, not again...
"Sir..." you try to speak but nothing comes out. He's always tugging your skirt up, his hand is around your throat. You close your eyes as tears stain your cheeks.
You wake with a start, your phone black as the battery's drained from neglect. You sit up and pant, looking around your dark bedroom, the moonlight limning shadows sinisterly. You gulp and fall back, watching the ceiling as the tears rise in reality and sting your eyes.
If you'd just said no. A simple word. Even you can manage that.
You lay for a while until your restlessness boils over. You get up and plug in your phone. The screen lights up as you rub your eye socket and yawn. There's an email notification in the taskbar. Probably more ads for things you can't afford.
You pull down the menu but find ‘Application Update’ emblazoned across the notification. Oh wow, that was fast. You keep yourself from tapping on the email.
You don't know if you can handle another rejection. You'd rather languish in the uncertainty. You've been doing so for so long, it almost feels safe.

𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗔 𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗜𝗔 𝗛𝗔𝗬𝗪𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥 (1858-1964)
Anna Julia Haywood Cooper was a writer, teacher, and activist who championed education for African Americans and women. Born into bôndage in 1858 in Raleigh, North Carolina, she was the daughter of an enslaved woman, Hannah Stanley, and her owner, George Washington Haywood.
In 1867, two years after the end of the Civil Wàr, Anna began her formal education at Saint Augustine’s Normal School and Collegiate Institute, a coeducational facility built for former slàves. There she received the equivalent of a high school education.
Anna Haywood married George A.G. Cooper, a teacher of theology at Saint Augustine’s, in 1877. When her husband died in 1879, Cooper decided to pursue a college degree. She attended Oberlin College in Ohio on a tuition scholarship, earning a BA in 1884 and a Masters in Mathematics in 1887. After graduation Cooper worked at Wilberforce University and Saint Augustine’s before moving to Washington, D.C. to teach at Washington Colored High School. She met another teacher, Mary Church (Terrell), who, along with Cooper, boarded at the home of Alexander Crummell, a prominent clergyman, intellectual, and proponent of African American emigration to Liberia.
Cooper published her first book, A Voice from the South by a Black Woman of the South, in 1892. In addition to calling for equal education for women, A Voice from the South advanced Cooper’s assertion that educated African American women were necessary for uplifting the entire black race. The book of essays gained national attention, and Cooper began lecturing across the country on topics such as education, civil rights, and the status of black women. In 1902, Cooper began a controversial stint as principal of M Street High School (formerly Washington Colored High). The white Washington, D.C. school board disagreed with her educational approach for black students, which focused on college preparation, and she resigned in 1906.
In addition to working to advance African American educational opportunities, Cooper also established and co-founded several organizations to promote black civil rights causes. She helped found the Colored Women’s League in 1892, and she joined the executive committee of the first Pan-African Conference in 1900. Since the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) and the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) did not accept African American members, she created “colored” branches to provide support for young black migrants moving from the South into Washington, D.C.
Cooper resumed graduate study in 1911 at Columbia University in New York City, New York. After the death of her brother in 1915, however, she postponed pursuing her doctorate in order to raise his five grandchildren. She returned to school in 1924 when she enrolled at the University of Paris in France. In 1925, at the age of 67, Cooper became the fourth African American woman to obtain a Doctorate of Philosophy.
In 1930, Cooper retired from teaching to assume the presidency of Frelinghuysen University, a school for black adults. She served as the school’s registrar after it was reorganized into the Frelinghuysen Group of Schools for Colored People. Cooper remained in that position until the school closed in the 1950s.
Anna Julia Cooper dièd in 1964 in Washington, D.C. at the age of 105.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Talks bitterly broke off between Hollywood actors and studios late Wednesday, killing any hopes that the three-month strike by performers would come to an end anytime soon. The studios announced that they had suspended contract negotiations, saying the gap between the two sides was too great to make continuing worth it, despite an offer they said was as good as the one that recently ended the writers strike. The actors union decried their opponents’ “bullying tactics” and said they were wildly mischaracterizing their offers. “We made big moves in their direction that have just been ignored and not responded to,” Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the national executive director and chief negotiator for the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists had resumed negotiations, told The Associated Press on a Los Angeles picket line Thursday. “We’re not going to find a solution to this if they just leave and don’t talk to us.”

Stranger of Paradise feels like a fever dream at times
That scene where they all meet each other was so bizarre I was confused. Just like that??? What IS this game I am playing
Stranger of Paradise's biggest surprise (besides it turning out to actually be a pretty cool love letter to Final Fantasy over the years) is that it somehow found a magic line that nobody knew existed between lazy writing, and brazen writing.
See in 99.9% of stories, if you see a guy walk up to two other guys, exchange two sentences ("I'm here to kill chaos. My name is Jack.") , and then claim they're all friends now, you'd be laughed out of the room for being the laziest writer alive.
But the way Stranger of Paradise executes its storytelling feels so cheap, so bizarre, so casual yet at the same time honest, that it disarms its audience and keeps them waiting for a punchline that isn't there, an acknowledgement that never comes.
Jack stomping out of the room with nothing but "bullshit" would ordinarily feel like a disservice. The player has their cutscene cut short and their investment into the world interrupted for the information that their protagonist is an impatient and surly dude. Usually, that sucks.
But Jack going "Bullshit", having earphones on, and then blasting Limp Bizkit on full volume as he stomps out, forcing the party to awkwardly follow him, and then making him take off his earphones afterward a walk so he can resume talking to them? What the fuck. Is this real? Is this actually what happens? Am I seeing a Youtube edit inside the actual game? You are busy pondering these things while waiting for the game to turn to you and wink but it never does. This is genuinely what Jack is like as a protagonist, and he's so effective at bamboozling you that you don't even have time to question how "good" the writing is. You're still swallowing what just happened and he's already moving the plot.

I know none of us have money, people with money don't spend their time on Tumblr. But one thing we also don't have is "knowing how to self publish a book" or "what is book release" or "how to writer execute function halp pls"
Nicole is an amazing author, masters in project management, and a great friend. And her help is a big part of how I went from "well this is a very long Google Doc" to "wtf people actually want my books????"*
She offers book project management. She offers author project management. She offers consultations on all things bookly because sometimes you are so lost in the opaque world of publishing that you would pay anything for someone to just EXPLAIN. But she doesn't charge the downpayment on a house. She's pretty reasonable for someone with her resume.
Tl;dr I love Nicole, you will too, click this link, I promise I'm not gonna rickroll you.

Some thoughts
As a semi-amateur writer writing purely for fun and relaxation, I'm not convinced I'll ever be able to write a GOOD Maul x Qi'ra fic, and I'm not surprised at the scarcity of their content on any platform - they seem too official and too difficult to capture the right ambience and tension.
I generally don't like the male boss x female subordinate type of ship. For what? Because it reminds me of the unspoken rules of the workplace - having an affair with your boss so you can climb to the top of the pyramid - but Qi'ra is different. She climbed onto the roof through her own growth and skill, to get to work directly with Maul. Crimson Dawn served as her safe harbor and provided her with abundant resources. Maul later taught her a lot, seemed to trust her more, and she was able to assume leadership of Crimson Dawn after his death.
Maul was not that type of boss who took sexual advantage of his subordinates. He was more interested in their ability to carry out his plans. The dread that Qi'ra had in her eyes at the end of Solo may translate into fear of unknown risks and dangers to execute more missions with Maul, not because she was afraid of being sexually exploited by him.
Often, this type of ship is rarely written because it tests the author's screenwriting abilities. Canon left a lot of room for these two, but the remaining space requires strong logic and good writing skills to fill. Spending time researching and thinking about plots is also important to make such fics stand out.
Personally, I really like the growing sexual tension and intimacy between Maul and Qi'ra as they worked together. They were like a power couple, both intelligent and assertive. It was compelling that they schemed plans to bring down Sidious and the Sith - an interesting aspect to explore - and they grew closer to each other, day by day. She was beautiful, had all the qualities he appreciated and he was not unattractive to her, but he remained indifferent, as he always had. In the end, the sexual tension between them reached its upper limit like a fully drawn bow, it broke down and they fucked fiercely. He was capable of tenderness as well as violence while she savored every moment of his virility. But they still resumed hard work as partners in crime, not affected by this deeper connection in their relationship.
And I have absolutely no problem with Maul being bisected - I even think that being cut in half at the waist was creative and added more romanticism to this character. I believe, in the SW universe, worldview, technology and magic, Maul was well endowed with a mechanical lower body, equipped with all the sensations and synthetic organs he deserved. He could still flip, kick, fight, walk, run, jump and fuck. Zabraks have two hearts and their physiological anatomy may also be different from humans. Or, let's put it this way: the lumbar vertebrae were exposed after being cut in half, right? Wouldn't it be easier to function if the mechanical lower body was directly connected to his spinal cord? Hmmm I'm going too far.
Yes, I love the many possibilities it offers!

Why do you care so much about AO3? The fanfics in that place, most of them, are just as bad written and cringe as the ones in Tumblr or Wattpad. Most fanfic writers aren good writers, they can't write anything of their own so they climb to IPs that aren't theirs, mischaraterize the characters and plot to the point of acting completely different.
And when they get a job as writers or directors in the intertaiment industry (like Nia DaCosta in Marvel), they do a terrible job.
Because I disagree completely with your assessment of fanfiction and fanfiction writers and I don't think art should be censored. I also lived through the FFnet days of having your favorite stories disappear overnight because of the obtuse, unevenly enforced, and constantly changing content restrictions on that site. A place like AO3, that was founded to be a place where all content is welcome and protected, is rare and important. Increasingly so as time goes on and the "art is literally harming me" crowd gets more and more influence.
Most fanfic writers aren good writers, they can't write anything of their own so they climb to IPs that aren't theirs, mischaraterize the characters and plot to the point of acting completely different.
So, they're so uncreative that they need to latch onto established IPs because they can't think up their own ideas, but then they change those characters and plots to be something completely different than what they read? Interesting. Anyway, all art is derivative in some way. Depending on which analyses you want to believe, there are only 6-9 story types. Every single story falls within one of these types. You can sprinkle in genre tropes, anti-tropes, subversion, modern inventions, etc to make your own story more unique, but nothing is wholly original. So I don't consider that a valid criticism at all.
And when they get a job as writers or directors in the intertaiment industry (like Nia DaCosta in Marvel), they do a terrible job.
Now this I do agree with, but I don't blame fanfiction, I blame producers and studio executives and DEI policies. If the best person who applied was hired for the job, it wouldn't matter how many fanfic writers and Booktokers tried to get mainstream writing jobs, none of them would be chosen because objectively better writers would be hired. But when the studio policy says "you must hire a woman for this" and all the talented women are unavailable, and the applicants you get are a bunch of no name, no resume, women, but one of them has a built in following from their fanfic days, an executive who only cares about filling in a name on a hire sheet so the project can move on is going to probably pick the one with a following and hope that translates to ticket sales in the future. The entertainment industry as a whole is going through a massive depression right now, and exactly none of that can be blamed on fanfiction or fanfiction writers.
Fanfiction is a blessing. It's thousand of novel length stories written by people who like the same things you like, delivered for free on an easily accessible and searchable site. It lets you experience new interpretations of your favorite characters and stories, or lets you continue those stories as they might have been continued by the original writers. The quality varies, wildly sometimes, but you can pretty much always find something you like unless you just hate the entire concept of fanfic as a whole. Which is, of course, perfectly fine. But let's not pretend that we need to find objective reasons to subjectively dislike something. We can all just dislike the things we dislike, and we don't need a reason other than "I don't like this thing".
