I am replaying Pokemon Violet and just like… there’s no getting around it: the Team Star plot is just stupid and badly written.
#the ENTIRE TEACHING STAFF RESIGNED#and ONE random student somewhere mentions it????#your school head girl never mentions it???#no one is like ‘yeah this school’s a bid dodge recently something happened that made EVERYONE RESIGN#like for it to be that bad every single kid is gonna know about this epic epic bullying problem.#and yet!#everyone just seems oblivious?#and then at the start there’s genuinely no way to get around the fact that a couple of Team Star members#are right there trying to bully Penny into joining them.#like I thought the plot was gonna be ‘united to fight bullies but lived long enough to see themselves become the bad guys’#but no! the behaviour your character literally witnesses is never mentioned again!!#also they forced some Pokemon to evolve to power their silly star mobiles so fuck Irsa in particular#(sorry I am using a mishmash of their English and German names)#Irsa’s the fire one.#and the fact that this plot is in the same game as Pepper’s??#like the contrast in how good the story telling is is SO STARK

ive written out a current dream team for pkmn black (oshawott, chandelure, galvantula, mandibuzz, krookodile, ???) but im realizing most of these seem like late game options which tbh is maybe a good thing because i dont want to give up my stupid little guys that soon :(

#meditite#i never understood this pokémon. what do folks call it? a little angry psychic onion baby? that tracks honestly#the diamond mouth is whatever and i always found myself like. using its name as a vocal stim when i was a kid#bc again this is one of the bitches that was a shadow pokémon in colosseum so i know it pretty well. but it's also like not my fave#it's *really* just out here. floats and is blue and maybe a fighting-type? or at least it turns into one when it evolves#lemme check#okay yeah it's fighting/psychic and medicham doesn't change types. honestly in my mind i still see these two as totally unrelated pokémon#they just don't look the same at all. i get the general continuity bc they have similar-ish vibes but they don't look. continuitous#that's not a word i know but it expresses my thoughts well i feel. y'know. continuitous#i'll have more to say for medicham bc team charm but for now it's just this onion baby

I started playing pokemon diamond! i've been meaning to play it for ages so im super excited to jump in and finally play a 2D pokemon game, though i dont know if i trust either of my rivals yet.... I've only ever played pokemon games where you get exp share pretty much at the start so remembering to individually level up my whole teams gonna be a bit of a learning curve but im always up for new challenges
Naming my starters has always been important to me, it took me a while to come up with her's but i ended up picking Mori, after the japanese word for forest and a city in hokkaido, the island that's the partial inspiration for sinnoh :)
#i looked it up and apparently you can get exp share after registering 40 species of pokemon but that's still wild to me#like i don't just get it at the beginning??? how am i supposed to evolve all my Guys?????#i don't know why i'm so weary about my rivals especially lucas but there's something about them that's screaming villain arc to me#i don't want any spoilers nobody spoil anything#also why do they show the gym leaders on your profile even before you fight them??? the surprise of what they look like has always been#rly fun to me. i only glanced at it bc i didn't want to be spoiled but even then i feel like ive Seen Too Much#i caught an abra too it's just not on my team and oh my god that took like a half hour#why do they only know teleportttttt i wasted so many pokeballs#circling back to the rivals i think what's throwing me off abt barry is that he chose the starter with the type advantage#idk if that was normal in the older games but in all the ones i've played your rival picks the weaker one. it's just sus idk#anywho it's 1 in the morning i'm gonna go to sleep but woowee i'll having fun#OH RIGHT I LOVE THE WAY YOU GET YOUR STARTER IN THIS GAME#like 'whoopsies i found you in a random guys briefcase! we're bonded for life now.'#i've already characterized Mori to she 100% is a spoiled little princess who#learned how to do big sopping wet sad puppy eyes to get what she wants#and id fall for it every time she'll still be my itty bitty baby even after she evolves#sassy speaks#pkmn#pkmn diamond

Wich pokemon would arjuna have?
This is a really important question to me but I also hate it bc I’m relatively familiar with pokemon (at least until the newest gen) and there aren’t tons of ones that struck me as super fitting to him-there’s only one archery pokemon, after all, and it’s far more fitting for someone like Robin Hood.
Anyway I went ahead and spent like 2 hours looking at Pokédex entries to try and figure out some ones that worked for him. Sorry for picking the low hanging fruit of having Geeta as the stand in lmao.
You’re going to notice a small subtheme where a good chunk are either ‘powerful loyal hero types’ or ‘this thing fucking hates people/is incredibly solitary’ bc yeah. The butler pokemon, monkey Pokémon and chili pepper Pokémon also made it here bc they made me giggle, but realistically he’d be some sort of try hard competitive battler type and probably like, ev/iv train his team and have a serious battle team vs the ones that don’t fight
#dragapult made it on bc it launches things and that was close enough to archery that i was like ‘whatever’#but also one Pokédex mention it being good at focusing so I was like ‘omg junacore’#I had to resist making a team for him that wasn’t just what I found pretty#which is why galar rapidash isn’t here. rn#realistically hattrem would be evolved but I think she would be his pretty little baby#my asks#anyone else please add on I was fighting for my life not to make a team of 6 snom

#ymgb rambles#sir citrus and lord mipy are supposed to be the ancestors of my heartgold team- i only used citrus but i had a level 6 togepi in my party-#-for 'moral support'#master umbra refers to the edg au version of master gundam- it looks kinda similar to gliscor#vista is of course named after windows vista- he cant even play solitaire /ref#hans is named after hans holger bc i couldnt think of anything else#hans was supposed to be a one-off team member for the arcanine fight but he ended up being really useful#zabalite's name comes from the other side of a naming scheme i had for certain pokemon#in sv i had a florges named zabalzor- and in other games i named the 'plant waifu' pokemon something ending in -zor#i figured that because sylveon is a gen 6 fairy type like florges- i could use zabal- as a prefix#oh and in case anyone was wondering no i do not use lord mipy ever#i might not even evolve him i might just replace him with smthn else

#like seriously that's half the reason I made this post#everyone is constantly comparing Leon to mikey#or finding the subtle (and blatant) similarities between him & the other leos#but no one even THINKS about comparing him to the person he actually swapped with: RAPH!#and yeah he doesn't have many similarities to later iterations of Raph#since he doesn't have much interest in fighting or the anger issues#but you know who else lacks both of those aspects? 87!#87!Raph is well known for his snark#his avoidance of fights (especially ones he knows he won't win)#and less known for his quick thinking and plotting#he is literally described as ''cool but rude''#and Leon is 100% both of those things#I think part of it is kind of showing how both of these characters have essentially evolved to be each other over time#while still being stuck in the same positions#Leo has slowly become the ''cool'' one (as leader) and a strategic thinker (not to mention 2012's love of puns)#while Raph has become angrier often as a direct result of him disagreeing with how Leo is leading the group#so swapping their ''spots'' on the team is actually a brilliant way of bringing back the original roles without completely reverting#bc now Raph is in the position where he CAN'T rebel against the authority of the team#since he IS the authority#and Leo has to figure out who he is on the team when not the leader#(spoilers: he does not actually do this.#but at least he got to have a life outside of it for a bit before getting thrust back into the position)#so yeah.#I have a lot of feelings about these 2
