I went up to the supermarket earlier, and on the way back, down the woody path, I heard this woman hollering for her dog.

She was panicking. Her dog had bolted from her. “Have you seen a little white dog?” she breathed when she saw me. She was all puffing and frantic.

I hadn’t, seen this animal. But I remembered what it was like to have a dog run away from you, because that’s happened to me in the past. So I walked with her back the way I had come. Just to give her support.

I told her not to worry, that it was likely the dog would come back. Kept my voice calm, as she breathed harsh and gusty. 

And, well, the whole story was short: because we found the dog four minutes later. But those mid-level four minutes didn’t seem quick at all. 

She thanked me for helping. I said that I didn’t do much, and gave her a thumbs up. Her dog was back with her. Good. I think it’s important to just try and aid people with such things, when you can. Even if it’s just to tell them not to worry and try and be of assistance in such a way.

Look it is very important to me that everyone knows that Sophie is also fucking nuts in the book. Everybody always talks about how absurd Howl in the book but Sophie is right there with him.

She's so determined to be the normal sister that she's just actually convinced herself that the magic she is clearly, visibly, blatantly performing happens to everyone. Just. You know. Not anyone around her. The curse wore off weeks ago and she's just totally sure she's happier as an old woman. Her sisters have initiated some complex long-game tomfoolery to switch lives and Sophie also thinks that this is the most logical choice.

Sophie does not move in with a romantic mythic man who treats her right, she moves in with a runaway doctoral candidate who immediately dates her sister and drags her into his family drama. She and Howl are both so afraid of romantic commitment they accidentally trick themselves into becoming life partners. They kill the witch of the waste mostly on a whim, and they argue about which one of them is more impulsive for doing so the whole time.

Hello!!

First of all, THANK YOU!!! The world has been feeling harder and more hopeless to me in recent years, and individuals like yourself help more than I will ever be able to express to bring light and hope back into my world. Loving and obsessing over gems like Good Omens, and American Gods (the novel at least, I must admit I never saw the show 🙈) have always given me motivation, sparked my creativity, and made me feel so much love for this, often unfortunately cruel, world. I can't express the solace it brings to me when the creators of the things I love are thoughtful and decent human beings. So, again, THANK YOU 🫀🫀🫀

I just finished my second viewing of Season 2 and have a question for you (my apologies if it has already been asked and/or answered and I missed it)!! 

How did you select the song "Everyday" by Buddy Holly? It is absolutely perfect on so many different levels, and for so many different threads and characters, all while still encompassing the perfect feelings of this show. I always include playlists with the stories I write, and often agonize over which song is the best choice for certain moments. You had to pick one song to encompass the entirety of it, and it truly blew me away!

In February of 1991 (I think) Terry Pratchett and I were staying in the Chateau Marmont hotel in LA. These days it is a very fancy hotel but back then it was pretty manky and run down. We were being put up by a film company and each morning we would fax over an outline for a new version of Good Omens the Movie and each afternoon we'd go to the studio for a meeting and we would realise that nobody had actually read what we had sent over that morning. Then we would go back to the hotel and work on trying to incorporate the studio notes on the outline they hadn't actually read into what we were doing.

We worked up in Terry's room because it had heating, and it was incredibly cold in LA that February, especially cold because I was in a chalet out in the grounds and there weren't heaters or extra blankets or anything in the chalet.

And at some point in there we were talking about music, and I suggested a few scary and ominous songs that might work to signal the end times. And Terry said "What about Buddy Holly's song Everyday? It sounds so upbeat and cheerful. But what if it was about the end of the world?" And I got all excited at the idea of Everyday being the Good Omens theme song.

So it's really just there to make Terry happy.

In this story Earth is like the absent father figure and Sun is this loving but a bit over bearing mother figure that the kid starts to get annoyed by and distance from once they grew up (it’s a bit silly if I think about it for too long)

He tried to tell a story to the group to liven things up.

The communal mood had been castrated ten minutes earlier by one of the other girls offending the pretty girl. A girl insulted the pretty gal. One of those comments where everybody goes silent and nobody quite knows how to interject to make it better.

So I was trying to interject with this little personal story. Which wasn’t actually true; I made it up on the spot, just for entertainment.

And it was shit. The story.

I looked at the pretty girl and her face was normally bright and birdlike. Now it was all purple and aghast, silently raging at what was said earlier.

And I stopped looking at her, then. It was too hard.

Yes, that was a horrible birthday party. Ugly, forgettable scene.

I hopped I ‘took the brunt’ off the embarrassment of that offensive comment beforehand with my shit story. Maybe that was my intention all along. Attempting to be a good guy.

My Hero Academia is ending in 5 chapters so that there will be a sequel where Bakudeku are married and they start a hero agency with Shouto as their sexy secretary. And they all fall in love while trying to navigate post-war society and make it a better one for both heroes and villains. It's true, HORI TOLD ME.

Really beholden to the idea that at least part of why Louis was fascinated with Daniel initially was because of his project of interviewing citizens of San Francisco, documenting their stories and voices, in much the same way Louis was trying to do with his photography in Paris.
