“To be a warrior of the Eversight Choir is to accept to futility of mortal sight. You must give both the material and immaterial to Chaos, accepting the weakness of corporeal vision to open the mind to eldritch guidance. Indeed, the ritual gouging of one’s own eyes is the first step to truly seeing.”

I guess I'll start my Daedra questions with one I've been curious since the beginning (since I think about this stuff way too much). What build was Daedra originally? Like class level division, notable feats or fun things you did/memorable moments that never made it into the story? Did it change for the story?
Also, which Tav voice? I have big feelings about all of them :3
Lots of good questions @alicelufenia! This will be a bit of a long one.
I'll do the easiest question first, Voice 4.
Before I get into it, since many people don't know what Daedra looks like, here's some Daedra spam:
Daedra's build
Her split was 5/3/4 Gloomstalker Ranger / Assassin Rogue / War Cleric of Lolth. I picked this build because Gortash describes Durge as an assassin so I wanted to go a full stealth build which is where the Gloomstalker Assassin came in. I also knew from the beginning that I was going to have her be a cleric of Lolth, but it was more for roleplay rather than any mechanic. I picked war domain because war actually is one of Lolth's domains (with the other one being Trickery. And we know from Shadowheart just how absolutely atrocious Trickery domain is). I started Daedra as a Ranger and then took the cleric dip at level 2. Afterwards, I focused getting ranger and rogue to their desired levels before finishing off with cleric in Act 3.
Like I said, I picked cleric more for the roleplay aspect rather than the mechanics. So, I did not anticipate how much synergy there would be with war domain. With War Domain you get a war priest charge in which you get an extra attack for the turn. So, you can start the game off being able to do two attacks. And then once you get 3 Ranger, you get Dread Ambusher which gives you an extra attack at the beginning of the turn. So for the very first turn, you can attack three times. Once you get to 5 ranger, you get the Extra Attack like with the other martial classes. So on the very first turn, you can attack four times.
Daedra also had all the brain worms (there actually are enough worms in the game in which you can max out two characters). For feats, she had Sharpshooter and Ability improvement for Dex (with Auntie Ethel's boon she has max Dex at 20).
Gear: Frayed Drow Hood, Deathstalker Mantle, Spidersilk Armor, Craterflesh Gloves (I forgot to give her in the story), Disintegrating Night Walkers
Jewelry: Amulet of Bhaal (gave to Minthara in the story), Shifting Corpus Ring (gave to Shadowheart in the story), Eversight Ring (gave to Minthara in the story)
Weapons: Justiciar's Scimitar, Knife of the Undermountain King (gave to Minthara in the story), and the Deadshot
Lemme tell ya, this build is nasty. It got to the point where it felt like Daedra was soloing the game. There were some times where Daedra would kill everyone in the first turn (so Minthara and Shadowheart never even got a hit off) and this was in Tactician! If Daedra didn't end the fight, then Shadowheart and Minthara would. The only time things were really tricky was during the major boss fights. But, even on the major bosses, if I had Daedra focus on the boss alone, she could get them very low on HP in the first turn. Daedra absolutely humiliated Orin.
Story Cuts
Now, onto the things that never made it into the story. First, Wyll and Karlach. Yes, I did initially have it so that Wyll and Karlach were in the story. But, I realized when I actually starting writing that Wyll and Karlach would not let the grove raid stand, so they died in the grove raid which was really hard for me to do. I also thought it was just beautifully tragic that Minthara was the one to kill Karlach in just the worst and most painful way possible.
Second change, I had initially planned a chapter were the elves met Ethel and Araj in Act 3. The reason why I wanted to do it was to kind of show how Daedra is starting to indulge on her urges as she would have chosen to kill Lora (the mom) completely on her own without discussing it with Shadowheart and Minthara. I also wanted to have Minthara interact with Araj as House Baenre was the one responsible for the destruction of House Oblodra and I wanted to have this interaction in which Araj would ask Minthara if she was here to finish the job her house didn't. But, when it came time to actually write the chapter, I really didn't want to do it, so I didn't.
Third change, I had two chapters planned in which the elves would destroy the Foundry and then go kill Gortash. Later that night, Daedra and Minthara would sneak back into Wyrm's Rock so Minthara can sit on a dead man's throne and then fuck Daedra on it. But when I was thinking about it, I couldn't find any logical reason to do so other than "just because". Minthara had made an alliance with Gortash and wanted to keep it until it proved inconvenient. But, it never proved inconvenient so there was no reason for Minthara to turn on Gortash and destroy the Foundry.
Fourth change was Mizora. I actually did have three chapters in which Mizora would just randomly show up just to be a pain in the ass. Because Mizora is a little upset that she lost her "favorite little pet" and she knows Minthara is the reason why. So, Mizora shows up and basically tells Minthara, "if I can't play with my pet anymore, I will play with yours" and Mizora just starts tormenting Daedra. There was a moment where Mizora stole Daedra's old bow and snapped it in half (which was the reason why Daedra bought the Dead Shot in Chapter 38), another moment where Mizora actually threw Daedra off the bridge between Wyrm's Rock and the Lower City, and another moment in which Mizora not only revealed the locations of the elves and broke their stealth in the fight with Dolor in Chapter 39 but she was also the one who snitched to the Fist Guards and prompted the chase. I cut Mizora from the story because I really could not find a reason as to why she would be there without Wyll other than "just because".
Another thing that didn't make it into the story was Withers! But, this was not actually intentional. I just forgot to write him in there and when I realized he was missing I didn't feel like going back and writing him. You see, I already knew from the get-go that Bhaal was gonna murk Daedra (that was a very hard in stone decision I made very early on as I was always going to have it so that Minthara killed Orin). So the question of resurrection became very tricky for me to answer, and I almost didn't resurrect Daedra. And then I remembered, Lolth is right there. The next tricky question was determining whether or not Lolth is actually willing to resurrect someone, at least with their soul intact and not as puppets. But, from the lore I've read, Lolth would resurrect a drow if she had really good reason to.
I also had a One Shot planned called "Dread Ambusher" that was meant to take place during the events of Chapter 38: Old Acquaintances. At the end of that chapter, Daedra sneaks back into the mansion in the middle of the night and Minthara questions if Daedra killed someone. "Dread Ambusher" was meant to go over those events. In this one shot, Daedra actually does sneak out of the mansion with the intent to kill someone and she runs into Orin. And the two of them hunt together, and they both enjoy their time together. Daedra even begins to feel somewhat of a sibling bond with Orin and how nice it is to have someone around that doesn't look down on her for her urges or treat her like a child. And Daedra ends up killing someone that Minthara told her not to (the victim was a patriar and someone who most certainly would be noticed if they went missing) and Orin almost convinces Daedra to kill children. But, Daedra reigns back some self control and spares the kids, but she injures herself as a means of control. This is why she is limping when she returns to the mansion and its because she has a massive stab wound in her leg. The reason this was cut was because I had ended up finishing the entire fic before I got around to writing the one shot. So, when the publications in AO3 caught up to Chapter 38, I had lost the steam to write this one shot and could not find the willpower to do so. But, I do want to be clear, just because I did not write it does not mean it doesn't happen. The events that I had planned for this one shot all actually do happen that night and are canon to the story.
There were also a few more one shots that I had wanted to do but also ran out of steam. There was gonna be a one shot that took place immediately after Chapter 44: Parting Wisdom in which Jaheira would get all the elves high, because they needed that good self medication to help them get through their damn problems and stop all this "woe is me" nonsense. I thought it would have been really funny to write Minthara completely zooted out of her mind. Another one shot meant to take place after Chapter 44 that I called the "One Eyed Paladin" in which Minthara is training and learning how to fight again now that she only has one eye and her depth perception was off. During the training, Minthara gets extremely frustrated with herself and starts beating herself up in which Daedra actually calms her down and helps her.
This post probably had more detail than you were probably expecting, but I did want to talk about all the things that I almost did, but didn't do. Really good questions! Keep 'em coming folks!

The Dark Justiciar - a Shadowheart build
"Dark Lady, help me strike true."
Shadowheart is a Trickery Domain Cleric and Gloom Stalker Ranger, spreading Shar's Darkness with every strike. This build is heavy on Necrotic damage and gives Shadowheart everything she thought she wanted.
[check out my other builds!]
Gameplay Notes
Many of the items used in this build are discoverable in the world and completely independent of any narrative choices. Until you get the full Dark Justiciar set (and to be honest, even after, though it’s definitely better), this build is nonoptimized, gaining only small bonuses to Necrotic damage and benefits while obscured. As always, I value getting to see Shadowheart in armor that suits her and lore-accurate builds over optimization, so I think it's worth it.
However, at the end of Act 2, the build really comes online with some incredibly strong items. What were small bonuses to Necrotic damage are now worth building around, and what used to be a somewhat finnicky mechanic of trying to maintain obscurity is now dwarfed by near constant Darkness. Notably, all other party members should gain immunity to blindness as soon as possible (using the Eversight Ring, Steelwatcher Helmet, or Helldusk Helmet) in order to function.
Your top priority will be creating or maintaining Darkness. You can use this Darkness as cover to avoid taking hits or as an offensive maneuver to blind enemies and melee attack. With Darkness on the playing field, ranged attacks will be more challenging to make use of.
Stats and Leveling
Final build: Level 5 Trickery Domain Cleric, Level 7 Gloom Stalker Ranger
Shadowheart's (default) stats: STR 13 / DEX 13 / CON 14 / INT 10 / WIS 17 / CHA 8
[STR elixirs will be helpful here - I don't like changing companion stats, but even I can admit these are decidedly not ideal numbers]
Level 1 - Cleric (Trickery Domain) Level 1
Cantrips: Guidance, Produce Flame, Resistance
1st Level Spells [Command is useful throughout the entire game]
Level 2 - Cleric (Trickery Domain) Level 2
Channel Divinity [Trickery Domain is super lame… ugh]
Level 3 - Cleric (Trickery Domain) Level 3
2nd Level Spells
Level 4 - Cleric (Trickery Domain) Level 4
Feat: ASI+ STR>14, WIS>18
Cantrips: add Thaumaturgy
Level 5 - Cleric (Trickery Domain) Level 5
3rd Level Spells [Spirit Guardians is great, but this build doesn’t use/abuse it much]
Level 6 - Ranger Level 1
Favored Enemy: Sanctified Stalker
Natural Explorer: Urban Tracker
Level 7 - Ranger Level 2
Fighting Style: Dueling [only choose Dueling if it still works with versatile weapons + shield]
Learn Spells: Longstrider, Enhance Leap
Level 8 - Ranger (Gloom Stalker) Level 3
Dread Ambusher [bonus action Hide might be the best part to be honest]
Learn Spells: Speak with Animals […at least this is a ritual spell]
Level 9 - Ranger (Gloom Stalker) Level 4
Feat: Polearm Master [I think this is still bugged, but I think it’s fitting for the build, so whatever]
Level 10 - Ranger (Gloom Stalker) Level 5
Extra Attack
Learn Spells: Silence
Level 11 - Ranger (Gloom Stalker) Level 6
Additional Favored Enemy: Mage Breaker [if the build used heavy armour, it’d be Ranger Knight]
Additional Natural Explorer: Beast Tamer [do you think she still likes animals as a Dark Justiciar?]
Level 12 - Ranger (Gloom Stalker) Level 7
Learn Spells: Lesser Restoration
Items
Armor -
Dark Justiciar Mail (1 Grymforge)
Dark Justiciar Half-Plate (Rare) (2 Gauntlet of Shar)
Dark Justiciar Half-Plate (Very Rare) (3 Nightsong)
Melee Weapon -
Shar's Spear of Evening (2 Nightsong)
Justiciar's Great Shield (2 Gauntlet of Shar)
Ranged Weapon - Sharran Crossbow (1 Grymforge)
Amulet - Amulet of Restoration (1 Myconid Colony)
Helmet -
Dark Justiciar Helm (1 Grymforge)
Dark Justiciar Helmet (2 Gauntlet of Shar)
Ring 1 - Shadow Cloaked Ring (2 Ruined Battlefield)
Ring 2 - Ring of Twilight (2 Ruined Battlefield)
Gloves -
Dark Justiciar Gauntlets (Uncommon) (2 Gauntlet of Shar)
Dark Justiciar Gauntlets (Rare) (2 Nightsong)
Boots - Dark Justiciar Boots (2 Nightsong)
Cloak - Vivacious Cloak (2 Mausoleum)
Lore and Flavor
The first half of this build (before any interaction with The Nightsong) is representative of where Shadowheart begins her story. Regardless of my plans for her at the end of Act 2, this is how I usually build Shadowheart in the early game. I love the idea of her getting excited to find equipment from Dark Justiciars and wanting to use it.
The "final" form of this build does require Shadowheart's dark ending, as the strongest pieces of the Dark Justiciar set are understandably given as a reward for actually becoming a Dark Justiciar. While decidedly not the good ending, this is still a powerful story and an impressive character that everyone should experience at least once.
Other Dark Justiciars in the game have a similar combat style to this build, relying heavily on Darkness and a mix of melee attacks and spell casting.
Shadowheart's backstory feels very relevant to this build, of course, but I don't consider this a true "canonical" ending for her. I'm working on writing up something for post-Act 2 that I think fits her much better and, thankfully, works better in the meta of BG3 (so much better, in fact, that it makes me wonder if it was intentional...). A big issue I have with this build is that Trickery Domain is a really weak domain in general and given the gameplay and itemization of this build. But, if Shadowheart is a Dark Justiciar of Shar, I think she would choose an actual domain of Shar. In 5e, that's either Trickery or Death. Death would be great, but isn't an option in game - this would be a cool chance to use some of the incredible Cleric Domain mods out there!
[check out my build disclaimer for info about how and why I don't min/max or completely optimize builds, prioritizing lore and vibe instead]

I genuinely feel like I found the magic combo for a duo run. Dark urge duergar assassin 4/gloomstalker 5/battle master 3 with eversight ring, marksmanship hat, risky ring, and deathstalker mantle equipped, and bladelock 5 (subclass unimportant but GOO is always good) with summoning shovel in common tab, agonizing blast, repelling blast, and devil’s sight/lore bard 7, potent robe and diadem of arcane synergy equipped

thinking about how both Eso and Cail gave up their eversight to create something divine as a way to defy the Holy Mother and upon being given a second chance, did not give a shit at all. Religious symbolism at its peak.
#what separates cail from the rest of the chosen ones is that they simply do not care#they were put on this planet to be funky with their best friend and then fuck off and die do you seriously think they give a shit#if you think about creating a horse from water isn't really that different from carving out your eye with a knife in your friends bathroom

This run was the first time I got through that fight first try, where normally it takes a few goes. The necrotic resistance is important for this specific fight, but all the other tactics below are useful in most fights.
When you're high enough level, cast Heroes Feast every day. Immune to fear and poison, and advantage on Wisdom saves.
Prepare with resistance to necrotic on everyone - Elixir x3 for your character and two companions, and there's a heavy armor set called Protective Plate (found in the bottom of the House of Healing Morgue) that also grants resistance to necrotic. We (sis and I play on splitscreen) put that on Lae'zel, and gave her an Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength. We had Slizebeth (sis's druid), Lis (my rogue assassin), Lae'zel and Shadowheart. The Eversight Ring (also in House of Healing Morgue) is invaluable, as is the Eldritch Evocation Devil Sight to see through darkness.
Rogue: Oil of Diminution on her bow, then an Arrow of Many Targets to keep shrinking baddies (it's what the githyanki ambush in the Shadow-Cursed Lands uses against you).
Druid: Hypnotic Pattern - it takes half the board off the table for the first few rounds. She kept up concentration, and spent most of her turns casting Daylight to cancel their Darkness.
Shadowheart: Spirit Guardians (IMPORTANT - for this fight, you need the necrotic version, not radiant) and a Spiritual Weapon. Spiritual Weapon is useful for soaking up attacks, since they go for the floating axe instead of you.
Lae'zel: Battlemaster Fighter - use Disarming Strike on the big paladins. With the strength elixir, it was really reliable.
Baldur's Gate 3 rant below the cut! (I very much enjoy the game until the middle of act 3, so that's what this rant is about)
I play on explorer mode. So easy mode. I try to keep my gear upgraded. But I always hit a wall with the game, right around the time when you deal with Bhaal
The fights suddenly become overwhelmingly hard for me. ON EXPLORER MODE
My mom and I were just playing her game and we're on the House of Grief for Shadowheart. I completely wiped twice before I had to look at my mom and say, 'I will do this fight on my own and not waste anymore of your time. we'll pick back up once I'm through the fight'
And now she feels awful, because she could tell how frustrated I was with the fight and that I just couldn't get it done. And I'm left here sitting wondering how I must be the stupidest video game player not to be able to get through this fight
(But seriously. How are you supposed to survive when everyone is bone chilled and blind?)
I love the story and the characters, but the shear amount of frustration I have to go through to get to those wonderful moments is worth less and less these days
I think that's one of the reasons I don't talk about BG3 anymore. Because I have a policy of 'talk about what you love, and not what you hate.' Not that I hate the game, but when it's leaving me in tears because I'm so frustrated... Yeah. That's why this rant is behind a cut
I'll let it sit a few days and try again!

Was I dumb? Am I dumb?
Probably.
I started randomly on a total rewrite today of my novel I drafted five years ago.
Welp. It is what it is.

@56853 main thing is not to go down into the big room and talk to the leader of the sect - the big room is death. I had my monk initiate and then retreat to the rest of my party at the top of the stairs. After that I continuously gave ground, so I never fought the entire force at once.
The other big issue is the darkness - I used the Eversight Ring and the Helldusk Helmet for free darkvision on two of my characters. There's also the spell and elixirs of darkvision as well. Daylight clears out prior darkness spells but can be overridden by new spells (annoyingly, this is not clear from its tooltip). Storm Sorcerer's gust of wind also clears out darkness clouds.
If you have elixir slots left, elixirs of necrotic resistance help a lot with reducing the incoming damage.
General tips for large groups apply - the Black Hole illithid power, especially on a character that can use it as a bonus action, is absolutely nasty, and spells like Confusion work as a mass stun. Ice Storm doesn't require concentration, does good damage, and creates a massive ice surface, which is useful for keeping enemies contained.
In truly dire straits, Globe of Invulnerability is a bonkers good spell and will buy you some time in bad situations. There are a bunch of scrolls of it in act 3.
hardest fight in the game down

Traditional grocers are making a push in the online segment to drive growth
In the United States, shoppers have continued to remain engaged with grocery e-commerce platforms. More and more consumers are buying groceries online ever since the global pandemic outbreak. Furthermore, many shoppers who started purchasing groceries online over the last two years are expected to continue to do so in the next year. With this ongoing shift towards online grocery shopping, traditional grocers are making a push in the e-commerce sector to drive growth. For instance,
Kroger, one of the leading pure-play grocers in the United States, has made several strategic moves to further boost its presence in the competitive online grocery segment. Notably, the firm entered into a strategic collaboration with French meal planning startup Jow. This partnership is part of the firm’s strategy to further drive growth through online shopping personalization and recommendations. The strategic partnership will allow online shoppers to specify their dietary preferences and restrictions. Furthermore, they can share any other relevant information regarding meal planning and receive relevant recipes in recommendations.
In September 2022, the firm also announced a line of weekly recipes in collaboration with Rachael Bay, a television celebrity. This collaboration is part of the firm’s strategy to drive the visibility of Home Chef, the subsidiary of Kroger which offers meal kits and prepared meals. Notably, Home Chef has been performing well recently, as the rise in prices has forced consumers to seek out budget-friendly alternatives in the United States. The collaboration with Rachael Bay is expected to run over a period of six months, thereby presenting Kroger with an opportunity to drive the visibility of its meal solution to the masses.
In an effort to improve its presence and growth in the online segment, Kroger is expected to further make more such strategic moves from the short to medium-term perspective. While traditional grocers, such as Kroger, as projected to keep pushing in the online segment, competition among online grocers is also intensifying for market share in the United States. For instance,
In September 2022, Instacart, one of the leading online grocery platforms in the United States, announced that the firm acquired Rosie Application Inc., an online grocery startup focused on local retailers and wholesalers. With Rosie having a network of 300 grocers across 40 states, Instacart will further strengthen its position in the online grocery segment through this acquisition. Notably, the acquisition of Rosie is the second for Instacart in September 2022. The firm also acquired Eversight Inc., a pricing and promotions platform.
Another player in the B2C food delivery market, DoorDash, seems to be making a big push in the online grocery segment. The firm is expanding beyond its restaurant offerings with a series of partnerships with grocery chains. For instance,
In September 2022, DoorDash announced that the firm had entered into a strategic alliance with Sprouts Farmers Market, one of the leading retailers of fresh, natural, and organic foods in the country. Along with Sprouts Farmers Market, the firm also forged alliances with regional food retailer Giant Eagle and mid-Atlantic grocery chain Weis Markets.
Over the last year, DoorDash has recorded strong growth in its grocery delivery segment. According to the firm, it has recorded a growth of 130% in consumers that have used the platform to place orders from the grocery store in the United States.
Amid the growing competition in the space, grocery retailers are also making a big investment to boost their online operations. Walmart, for instance, is investing in its own fulfillment centers so that it can be less reliant on online delivery providers going forward. Notably, Walmart is investing US$800 million in a new fulfillment center which is expected to open in 2023. This facility will fulfill online orders throughout Oklahoma and Texas.
Kroger, on the other hand, also opened a new grocery e-commerce fulfillment center in Dallas, Texas in July 2022. The US$55 million facility will allow the grocery retailer to fulfill orders in six minutes. Furthermore, Instacart is expanding curbside fulfillment partnerships with grocers in the United States.
While inflation is fueling the strong growth in e-commerce grocery sales in the United States, the long-term growth of the industry will be sustained by grocery shoppers spending more of their grocery budget online. With food and beverages being the fast-growing e-commerce category, PayNXT360 expects the competition to further intensify in the space over the next three to four years, as more and more traditional grocers continue to make a push in the online segment from the short to medium-term perspective.

@bananaruntz eversight has a flashlight built in, which my sister refers to as the "see while you stab" feature! I got it from my dad for Christmas a year or two ago.
Riotblade is one of my favourites because how beautiful it is, but ALSO because it has a slightly loaded flipper? legality of that is questionable but it opens really smoothly. I got it from the general store in a logging village while I was cedar bark harvesting with my family : )
I should name my knives a la unique enchanted items in Skyrim.
