i think it’s time for another social break.
#to be clear this isn’t in relation to current events#it’s just about my personal life.#I’m back stuck in that cycle where I feel like I don’t have friends > I lose energy and motivation to socialize#& seeing stuff w other people who are Not in that cycle makes it. so much worse. lol.#yes yes hypocrite moment I know I’m also busy I know adult life makes it hard etc etc I’m still going to feel#emotions about it.#idk as much as I say living near people would be ideal for happy surface reasons truthfully I think if I’m not in someone line of sight#I get forgotten#like roommates are great (sometimes) bc forced proximity means there’s something built in#I say plural bc I also know you need to rotate socially. better for everyone involved.#like idk. I don’t know how to stop feeling this way or how to break out of it#and getting my ass away from social media is really the only way I know to stop me from getting Extremely hurt and jealous lmao#I’m bad at maintaining connection after a while and I think bc at the start of friendships I usually Do have the energy to be the ‘starter’#or planner or w/e when I start to wane a bit it goes unnoticed. so it’s back into the cycle. and I’m not sure if this will ever stop being#a thing for me? also I can’t blame anyone for seeing that and Not wanting to reach out bc like. why would you#as great as I can be short term I don’t feel like I’m worth the trouble once I pass a certain ‘expiration date’#so as much as I’d want to be more mad about it I can’t really be bc I Get It. I do. but it’s still depressing.#it’s so stupid of me really bc I do this ridiculous thing where I’ll Light Up when I feel like someone’s interested bc it’s nice!#its a nice feeling! so naturally it’ll make me perk up a bit more even if I’m feeling otherwise low#and it doesn’t take much so maybe I’m giving the impression I take effort? idk I know I can be skittish at first. I don’t want to come on#strong or annoying. (we’re all annoying kill the cringe etc etc but if you want friends you need to sync up at least)#but maybe that’s off putting?? I don’t know. I’m out of ideas on how to be.#I haven’t even had the energy to make content or really even think about my characters bc it feels like there’s no point. sometimes in the#past I could at least rely on that a bit to be a sort of bridge to reach out to people with but I just don’t feel like I’m able to.#the posts I made just steadily got less and less interest over the spring and summer and I always felt like#in servers I’d just suck the air out of the room bc people felt polite but uninterested.#everyone else was also able to move past and be friends outside of that and I just never could manage even over multiple years sometimes#and over time that’s just weighed on me a lot. no matter where I go I always end up feeling like I’m supposed to be temporary#social filler. how do you end up meeting people when it just constantly recoil from your efforts?#being weird isn’t as fun when it’s the Wrong Kind.

The Wedding Planner (Blurb)
Neglected!Reader ends up planning Bruce and Selina's wedding. The wedding goes great. Reader's life does not.
GN!Reader
Tumblr media
You should've know being a Wayne would come back to bite you in the ass. Even though you had chosen to remain ignorant to the comings and goings of the family since you had moved out, for your own peace of mind of course. It had still managed to come back and take a massive bite out of your ass.
When you had moved out of the manor and started trying to make it on your own you luckily had some wealthy and non-wealthy friends. Friends that were more than happy to let you couch surf. Or, guest room surf in some cases. Your big break came when one of those dear friends had asked you to plan their wedding. You had accepted graciously, happy to help and wanting to thank them for all they had done.
It was stressful and eventful. There were tears, a little bit of blood, a shit ton of lace, and a mountain of flowers. But, God, was it satisfying. Watching your own plan coming together. The way you had prepare for everything that could have possibly gone wrong on such an important day. The tide pens, the red wine, the back up camera for the photographer. You had tamed the volatile chaos into a gorgeous and memorable symphony.
After that, you had found your calling. It wasn't anything heroic or noble. But, it was human and all you. And, you were damn good. It wasn't long until you had built a reputation of planning The best wedding in Gotham on any sort of budget. And, all the while, that forever distant family of yours left you the fuck alone. In fact, they had forgotten all about your existence. Which you didn't exactly mind. Avoiding the bat-shit, you called it.
Still, it came back to haunt you, eventually. Things rarely stay dead in Gotham it seemed. To bad you weren't in the business of planning funerals or your might have known that.
It all started when you took on a prestigious client that made you sign NDA after NDA before the first meeting. (Your first hint.) One of Gotham's richest and wealthiest your newly hired secretary had told you. (Your second hint.) You meet with the fiancé of this wealthy individual. A lovely and vivacious woman of sharp taste and wit by the name of Selina Kyle. Who had told you her future spouse was quite the sweetheart despite his serious demeanor. (Final hint, your out.)
Imagine your surprise when your own father comes striding into your office giving your client a kiss before turning to face you. In a way you felt proud of how you could easily read the shock on Bruce Wayne's face even after years of never speaking to him. When you plaster on a professional smile - having perfected the professional persona over your years apart - and hold out your hand for him to shake, it fills you with satisfaction to watch him falter. You damn near giggle when you go over the guest list and notice your name nowhere on it. You saw the way Ms. Kyle shot him suspicious looks at how shaken he seemed at meeting you.
You'd have paid to be a fly on the wall when she finally confronted him about it after they left the meeting. You'd still pay to be a fly now. Because if you were going to be trapped in a web, you'd rather be trapped in one that would kill you quick. Not in this web that was bound to slowly choke you and move your limbs like some macabre puppet.
Suddenly, after that fateful meeting, the family that had long forgotten you it now trying to burrow their way into the life you have built for yourself. And, they don't care how many holes they leave in it. As long as they had the pieces of you in their own lives, nothing else mattered.
Not like you didn't break your heart years ago trying to give them those same pieces they’re now tearing you apart for. Only for them to have been tossed aside until you picked them back up and finally moved on.
☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️
A/N: Sooooooo, I know I haven't posted much, but I ended up coming up with a few other Reader concepts and they have taken up most of my headspace. But, this was an idea based of of Smalltown!Reader. (The oc Smalltown!Reader is based off of always ends up a wedding planner as a back up plan.) Which I have the rough draft of Part 8 written for. I swear it's coming.
A/N: I should also start cleaning out my ask box. And, my drafts. (Been throwing things in there for later.)
A/N: I feel like I should expand on this at some point. Might be something to consider.

Día de Muertos
Pairing: Charles Leclerc x Mexican! Reader
Summary: Per Mexican tradition, Y/N makes an altar for her family members that passed away. She added Charles’s family members as well
Warning: spelling and grammatical errors, death, inaccuracies
A/N: This was the first time I put up an ofrenda and since today is Day of the Dead, it’s fitting
Tumblr media
The best thing about dating a Formula 1 driver is the traveling. Y/N joined Charles in all his races, mainly because she is able to work from home as an event planner. So when they were in Mexico City for the Grand Prix, she bought papel picado, sugar skulls, and little dog alebrijes. Now that they are in Brazil, Y/N bought candles, a table cloth, marigolds, and printed out photos to set up the altar.
Y/N made it back to the hotel while Charles was in the track for free practice. She placed the table cloth over the hotel room desk, added the papel picado and marigold before placing the photos in the place card holder. There was one of her aunt that died from cancer, her grandpa that died of old age, Jules, and Hervé. Onces the little altar was set up exactly how she wanted it, she placed the candles near their photos and added the sugar skulls and alebrijes wherever there was an empty space.
Though Y/N wasn’t in Mexico anymore, there are Mexican restaurants in Brazil and she ordered her aunt’s and grandpa’s favorite food plus pan de muerto to have it delivered to the hotel. There was a knock on the door and when Y/N opened it, expecting to see a hotel employee with Mexican food, she saw her boyfriend.
“Muñeco, i thought you would still be in the track.” Y/N said, charles leaned in and kissed Y/N on the cheek before walking into their hotel room.
“We finished, what’s all this?” Charles asked, pointing to the table.
“Right. Well, today is day of the dead and usually I’m in my apartment to make this ofrenda but now I’m dating you so I brought the ofrenda with me.” Y/N explained but Charles looked confused. “Um, it’s an altar, it’s a way to honor my dead relatives and welcome their spirits to our home. I usually go all out but this is a hotel room and I don’t want the fire alarm to go off.” Y/N explained and Charles looked closer at the ofrenda and saw a picture of Jules and another one of his father.
“You put them up?” Charles asked in a whisper, he felt his eyes getting teary, picking up the photo of him and his dad.
“I know you miss them a lot, everything you are doing in formula 1 in for them, I thought it would be nice to add them to the ofrenda. I know this isn’t really your tradition but it’s mine and I want to share it with you.” Y/N said softly, Charles looked at her and kissed her forehead.
“Thank you, Mon ange, that is very sweet of you, really.” Charles said.
“Um, it’s tradition to add their favorite food on the altar. I ordered some Mexican for my aunt and grandpa, what did Jules and your dad like to eat?” Y/N asked.
“I Don’t think we could get it here but they liked…” Charles told Y/N their favorite foods.
“I’m sure we could order it from somewhere.” Y/N said. There was a knock and Y/N opened the door, it was the food she ordered. She got the food and gave the man a tip before walking back to Charles. “We also have this bread that’s called pan de muerto, we place it on the ofrenda too.”
“I’m sure they would enjoy the bread.” Charles said smiling. He opened the bag to help Y/N place the bread on the table. “So when we were is Mexico and you told me you were shopping, you were preparing for this?”
“Of course! I’m still Mexican, Muñeco, my tradition won’t change because I’m in another country.” Y/N said and Charles chuckled. Y/N placed the food in front of her aunt’s and grandpa’s picture.
“Maybe next year you can put up the ofrenda in my place.” Charles said.
“You mean that?” Y/N asked.
“I do, we haven’t been dating long but I feel very happy with you, happier than I have been in a long time.” Charles said before he kissed Y/N softly.
“I feel happy with you too. Oh, do you want some bread? It’s really good.” Y/N said, grabbing a loaf (?) and offering it to charles.
“Sure.” Charles said, tearing off of a piece of bread to taste. He hummed in content. “This is really good, do they sell this a lot on Mexico for day of the dead?”
“Yes they do, Mexican bread is the best.” Y/N said,
“I Can tell. I’m going to send a picture of the altar to my mom, is that okay?” Charles asked.
“Yeah, it’s okay.” Y/N said and Charles took a picture of the altar, making sure Pascale could clearly see his dad and Jules. He sent it to his mom and got a response in 2 minutes.
“My mom said it’s very sweet and considerate of you to add my dad and Jules.” Charles said.
“I May not have met them but I know how much they mean to you, I couldn’t leave them out.” Y/N said, looking down all shy. Charles brought his his finger under her chin to make her look at him,
“I love you so much, thank you for this.” Charles said before kissing her deeply.
“Don’t mention it.” Y/N said as soon as they separated from the kiss. They hugged each other. “I think we should watch Coco.” Charles laughed at her suggestion. “Well how else are you supposed to get the day of the dead?”
“Fine, let’s see if you can connect you phone to the hotel TV.” Charles said.
And that’s how they spent Día de Muertos, watching Coco on Disney plus and eating pan de muerto.
The End
Hope y’all liked it!

11. "IS THAT MY SHIRT?" (1.4k)
under other circumstances, today would’ve been filed under the non-descript mornings with which you start your unremarkable days.
the sun is barely peeking through the curtains, the temperature is not too cold but not too hot, and you’re buried in freshly washed bedding that smells divine.
and so it’s not really your fault for thinking for a modicum of a second that today was just like any other day.
if it weren’t for the muscled arm slung across your bare waist.
you’re yanked from your half-asleep stupor the second you see it, and you jolt in shock before you can stop yourself. the man beside you, thankfully, doesn’t stir awake.
with wide eyes, you chance a glance at the decidedly naked person next to you (if your sense of touch wasn’t betraying you), and the sight that greets you nearly makes you faint.
because what the fuck are you doing in bed—naked—with the bakugou katsuki?
suddenly the areas where your skin meets his are becoming way too hot, and you’re hit with the visceral urge to get away from the man.
and so as discreetly and quietly as you can, you lift the arm that’s wrapped around your midriff, but freeze when his grip tightens and he shifts every so minutely. sneaking a peek again, now at his face, you study the man with caution as his eyebrows furrow for a beat before they relax along with the rest of his features.
you don’t allow yourself to revel in how peaceful he looks, or dwell on the fact that you may have just fucked this man last night, choosing to try again and wrestle yourself out of his hold. to your relief, he doesn’t resist, even in slumber, and you’re able to slide out of the bed with minimal noise and motion, thanks to his firm, exquisite mattress.
you wonder how firm it proved to be last night…
you mentally slap yourself.
now is not the time to be horny.
it instantly dawns on you how naked you are, standing in this man’s bedroom fully bare, and so you scan the room for any sign of your undergarments and clothing. it doesn’t take you a while to spot your panties, and then your bra a few seconds later—both of which are notably plain and not at all sexy. you try to fight the cringe as you shimmy into them—obviously, you didn’t anticipate getting any action yesterday—eyes darting across the area in search of your shirt. they finally land on the black article that’s unceremoniously sprawled across near the foot of the bed, and you waste no time putting it on.
and as you find your trousers and squeeze yourself into them, you let your brain wander to what got you here in the first place.
you remember being strung along by your girlfriends into that exclusive bar that’s said to be frequented by many pro-heroes. you don’t know how your designated planner friend managed to get you guys entry, but you didn’t question it, choosing to just enjoy the atmosphere and drink good booze with good company.
in fact, you may have drunk too much good booze because your memory drifts in and out a few hours into settling into a booth in the bar. you recall one friend pointing to a group of three men who looked suspiciously like pro-heroes cellophane, red riot, and dynamight, as well as you laughing at how it couldn’t be.
you wince at the memory of said friend, who knows about the big, fat, embarrassing crush you have on the ash-blonde hero, dragging you to where they sat and introducing yourselves to the men.
at that point, you were tipsy and bordering on drunk, and dead convinced that they were just wannabes who wanted to look like their hero idols. but the guy with the crimson eyes that were notably boring into you looked too much like bakugou that you threw all caution to the wind and just went along with it, too curious about the person in front of you.
but now, as you stand smack dab in the middle of this pristine bedroom that can only belong to a very highly-paid, famously all-might-loving hero, you’re flooded by a wave of dizzying nausea.
dizzying nausea that doubles up when your eyes catch the ridiculously sculpted arms of the man who’s still lying on his stomach, seemingly fast asleep.
you can relive and fact-check your fantasies later, when you’re alone and in the safety of your much more modest apartment unit, but not now.
and so with a slightly heavy heart, you turn around and silently twist the knob, ready to tiptoe the hell out of his room with your purse in tow.
but all hopes of making a quiet exit get thrown out of his bougie-ass windows when the door fucking creaks so loud, that you don’t have to look behind you to know that the man just shot awake.
you stand there, frozen with your back turned against him, for what feels like forever, before ultimately deciding that you can’t just walk out the door now like nothing happened lest you come off as a fucking lunatic.
and so with a deep inhale, you steel yourself for the incoming shitshow, and turn.
you try not to stare at his crazy, stupid, built torso or his beautiful face that’s looking all too stunned as you awkwardly gesture to the door.
“you ought to lubricate this door of yours,” you quip, capping it with a laugh, although it comes out stilted.
and when he doesn’t say anything, “…sorry i woke you up.”
that must’ve been enough to sober him up, because he finally speaks up. “shit—no, i—”
he cuts himself off as he scrambles to get up, and you turn around just in time to not see his dick dangle as he searched for his boxers. you hear rustling and things being turned upside down as you wait for him to get dressed.
“just a sec,” he calls out, before: “have you seen my—is that my shirt?”
before you can think better against it, you whip around to look at where he’s gesturing, only to be met with him, now in his boxer shorts, staring straight at you.
“wha—?”
you look down to where his gaze is fixed, and sure enough, the shirt you’re wearing is decisively not yours.
“fuck—” you start, flaming in embarrassment, “i’m sorry, i thought it was mine. i—let me just—” you trail off just as your eyes land on another black shirt near your feet, and you’re about to scoop it up and turn and hurriedly strip off his shirt when he speaks up.
“no, it’s okay.” you freeze, bent over and hand just barely having grasped the shirt off the floor. and when he doesn’t say anything, you slowly straighten up, fighting to maintain eye contact.
he’s scowling now.
“you don’t have to scurry like a fucking rat, dumbass,” he spits, although there’s not much bite to it. he’s looking a tad bit embarrassed, too. hesitating for a second, he diverts his gaze, before: “can’t i at least cook you breakfast?”
you pick up your jaw that just dropped to the floor as fast as you can. “you—you mean you don’t want me to leave just yet?”
at that, he scoffs. “what do you take me for, a fuckboy?”
he says it so incredulously you almost snort. instead, you cock your head a bit to the right, not entirely able to deny your impressions of him.
“seriously?” he splutters for a beat, before sighing in resignation. shaking his head, he finally shifts to meet your eyes and regard you, the switch in the air to that of palpable seriousness so potent.
“i don’t normally do this,” he states, gaze remaining fixed on yours, as if he’s trying to communicate the rest with just his eyes.
you don’t have to ask him what ‘this’ means.
and so you reply just as honestly. “me, neither.”
neither of you says anything for a brief moment, the revelations from both of you taking up the small space between.
“so,” bakugou breaks the silence eventually, “breakfast?”

Under the Gilded Lens - Luigi Mangione x reader
Synopsis: Luigi and Y/N had very different upbringings. Luigi went to a prep school, comes from a wealthy family. Y/N's life is the opposite of that. They never had a problem before navigating how different their upbringings, but when Luigi takes Y/N as a plus one to a Gilman alumni event, she starts to feel out of place and like she doesn't belong.
Warnings: Swearing, classism, fluff.
Word Count: 1,594
Tumblr media
Y/N was getting over stimulated in the changing room at the department store, she had to have tried on at least a dozen of them, none of them were right. Luigi had informed her that his prep school, Gilman, was having an alumni night and he wanted her to accompany him. Luigi, being the planner that he was, told her enough time in advance about the event.
But Y/N being who she is, procrastinated till the last second about buying a dress for the event. Every time she tried to think about what she should fear to a fancy prep school alumni night, she would get overwhelmed and push it to the back of her mind. She regrets doing that now, as she stood in front of the full length mirror, twisting her body back and forth, in the last dress.
It was a black velvet floor length fitted gown, that was off the shoulder and long sleeved. She felt confident in it, but she wasn't sure. She had never been to an alumni event, let alone for a prestigious school. She wasn't sure if she was doing too much or not enough.
She was sure some would be sporting the most expensive and luxurious, not that she cared about gaining their approval or fitting in necessarily, she just didn't want to embarrass Luigi. This was his old prep school, where he graduated as valedictorian and gave a speech.
Maybe there was a little part of her deep deep down that wanted their approval. Luigi wasn't like them he didn't care about having the fanciest clothes, shoes, or displaying wealth in anyway. But this was Luigi's life, this is where he came from, how he grew up. When she met his family and his extended family a year into their relationship, she was excited.
It went well, his mom and dad were very kind and welcoming, they made her feel like she was a part of the family. His sisters were kind, asked questions, and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know her. Some of Luigi's aunts and uncles were a bit passive aggressive when talking to her. When they asked about her profession and she responded they gave her a patronizing smile and replied with a pat to her shoulder, "Luigi has always had such high standards, you must be very special".
She could see it in their face when she talked about her upbringing her attending public school her whole life, working two jobs to pay for her public university degree, and her humble profession that wasn't traditionally seen as "important" like being a doctor or engineer. That night did change something in her, it ripped at her self-esteem, it made her feel like she wasn't good enough for Luigi. She never really told him about the conversations because she didn't want to cause issues between them and his family.
When she was away from his family, she forgot about the feeling, but when she was near them, the feelings resurfaced. Luigi never made her feel like she wasn't good enough, if anything, he motivated her. He is always the first to celebrate her successes at work like when she got a promotion, he brought home flowers and dessert. He is her biggest cheerleader.
As she continued to examine the dress in the mirror, she facetimed Luigi to get a second opinion. When he responded he was laying on the couch in their apartment, a huge smile on his face.
"Hey baby, how's the shopping going? Did you find a dress?" he asked.
Y/n flipped the camera so that it was now showing her body. "What do you think of this one?" she asked.
Luigi sat up at full attention to examine the dress and give an opinion, "W-wow, I love it you look beautiful Y/N".
Y/N blushed and sighed in relief because she did not want to spend any longer in the department store. "Are you sure? Is it appropriate for a Gilman alumni event?"
"I think so, I don't think there's a dress code," he said.
"I just don't want to stick out like a sore thumb," Y/N said.
"You're definitely going stand out," he replied flirtatiously wiggling his eyebrows.
Y/N rolled her eyes, "Okay, I'm getting the dress. See you in a bit Lu." He laughed at her reaction and said, "Bye beautiful!"
*************
Y/N and Luigi were in the car on their way to the alumni event, Luigi had his hand on Y'N's thigh as he drove. She had been silent the entire drive. He squeezed her thigh gently to get her attention, "Are you alright? You've been quiet." he said. She looked over at him, he looked so handsome dressed in his suit. He had a concerned look on his face as he turned his head to pay attention to the road. "I'm fine, just a bit nervous, you know how I get at gatherings." she replied softly reaching to grab his hand and intertwine their fingers.
He brought her hand to his mouth kissing it, "I know, if you need to step out at any point, you give me the signal and we're out of there" he replied.
"What's the signal?" she asked.
"How about itching your nose?" he responded.
"Yeah let me just pick nose in front of all your former classmates and teachers, that'll be a great first impression," Y/N replied sardonically "Maybe the signal could be me telling you I want to leave."
"Perfect," he said a smirking.
********
They had been at the event for about 45 minutes now, Luigi had introduced you to his former classmates, who were quick to share embarrassing stories about Luigi during his time at Gilman. Y/N was having a great time, everyone was nice and very welcoming. She didn't feel like she was out of place, they weren't snobs or turning up their nose at her. That was until she met a former classmate of Luigi's named Bradley, who began asking questions about where you went to school. A small group had formed, Bradley and his date, a beautiful blonde who when Y/N smiled at her, looked her up and down, and looked away as if she weren't standing in front of her.
A few other former classmates who were on the robotics team with Luigi. "I actually went to a very different school than Gilman's, we didn't have all these fancy clubs and facilities that you all have," she replied. Bradley asked, "Well, what school did you go to?" he asked. Y/N stumbled a bit on her words now feeling the weight of everyone's stares, "I-I went to a public school, we didn't have very many clubs or opportunities that you guys had, you guys are lucky. It must be nice to have had that experience." Y/N replied. Bradley snorted, "I guess, it's not that big of a deal. But wait till you see the toilets their self-flushing, I bet your public school didn't have that."
Luigi saw Y/N's face fall as she turned to leave, not before she heard him call Bradley a "fucking dick". Y/N made her way to the car and could hear Luigi right behind her. She went to open the door, but he stopped her. "Baby, I'm sorry he said that. He's always been an asshole even when we were at school together." She just shrugged her shoulders, "It's fine, I'm used to it at this point." she replied. Luigi pushed her chin gently upwards so that he could look at her, "What do you mean you're used to it?" he asked. Y/N told him about how she felt and what was said by his extended family to her, Luigi was patiently listening to her as she told him everything.
"Lu, sometimes I feel like I don't deserve to be with you. That you deserve to date another person who did the prep school thing, who has an important and well-respected career, and who went to an ivy. That's not me, I'm not that. I'm not a part of your world, I don't fit in." she let out the breath she'd been holding, it felt good airing this out and expressing how she felt.
"I don't want to date someone who grew up like me. Even growing up around this, I never felt like I fit in with them even back then. Baby, I love you so much. Don't let these assholes make you feel like you're not important or that you don't deserve to be here, you do. I am so lucky that I get to call you mine, I want you and only you. You are important, what you do is important, and I don't care if you grew up rich or not. That shit doesn't matter to me." Luigi rubbed his thumb back and forth across her cheek and leaned down to kiss her lips, softly and slowly.
He pulled away, smiling down at her. "You are so intelligent-" kiss "You are so kind" - kiss "You are important" -kiss "You are beautiful" -kiss "I am so lucky" -kiss "That I" -kiss "Am in your life" -kiss "And I am so lucky that I get to call you mine" -kiss.
"I love you Y/N" whispered.
"I love you Luigi" you whispered back.
He kissed you one last time, rubbing his thumb on your bottom lip, the biggest smile plastered on his face and he admired you. "Let's get the hell out of here."

Christmas Magic
hot cocoa bar celebration🧤❄️🎄
requested here! & inspired by Finding Santa (2017)
Pairing: Tim Bradford x fem!(event planner)!reader
Summary: Your Christmas charity dinner is threatened when Santa quits at the last minute. Tim Bradford is the only person you know who is free days before Christmas, but it will take some magic to make him agree to put on the suit.
Warnings/Word Count: fluff, brief angst, quick mention of harassment, mistletoe and magic. 3.5k+ words.
Tumblr media
I rented the center, tables with chairs are being delivered at noon, and catering arrives at 4. Got that. Santa, gifts, check, check.
You turn away from your computer to make a note about contacting the pediatrics hospital administrator. With your phone tucked between your cheek and shoulder, you’d nearly forgotten that you were supposed to be listening to James, the older gentleman playing Santa at the fundraising event you’ve been planning since September.
“I’m so sorry to cancel on you last minute,” James says.
Barely managing to catch your phone as you jerk in shock, you repeat his words in your mind. “Cancel? James, I’m sorry, did I hear that correctly?”
“Yes, ma’am, I’ve been fighting this rotator cuff for years and it finally won out on me. I know it’s last minute, but I can’t safely perform the Santa duties.”
“Okay, okay,” you mumble, pressing your forehead into your hand. “I understand, and I hope you feel better. I’m just not sure where I’m supposed to find another Santa days before the event, this close to Christmas.”
“If I hear of anybody who’s available, I’ll send ‘em your way.”
“Thanks.”
You end the call and stare at your computer screen. There is absolutely no way you can find someone – someone decent, at least – to play Santa Clause in three days. The event is on December 23rd, Christmas Eve-Eve, and it was hard enough to book James so close to Christmas Day.
“Oh, I’m gonna need a Christmas miracle,” you whisper as you reach for your mug.
A bell jingles outside, and you close your eyes. If only an angel capable of playing Santa were getting its wings.
“Are you okay?” your assistant, Holly, asks from the doorway.
“Not even a little bit,” you answer with a stressed smile. “We need a new Santa.”
“In less than a week?” she exclaims, setting a stack of papers on your desk. “How are you going to do that?”
“I have no idea. I could do open auditions, but then we’re just going to get all of the crazy people desperate for a Christmas gig in here, and I can’t sort through applications or anything with everything else going on,” you ramble before taking a breath. “Any chance you have a cousin, brother, dad, or a neighbor without a criminal record who could help me out?”
“My folks are traveling for the holidays and all of my neighbors are girls. Sorry.”
“No, it’s fine. We just… we have to think of something. Preferably by the end of today.”
“If anyone can pull together some Christmas magic it’s you,” Holly assures. “I’ll go make some calls and let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help.”
“Thanks, Hols.”
As she leaves, you open your phone and scroll through your contacts. Each name makes you a little more discouraged. Most of them are busy with families, out of town, completely unqualified, or you haven’t spoken to them in so long that you can’t justify asking for something like this, even if it is for the kids.
“It’s all I want for Christmas,” you whisper as you near the end of your list.
One name jumps out at you, but you hesitate to contact him. He might have to work or be coming off of a hectic holiday shift on the 23rd. But you’re running out of options, so you text Tim Bradford to ask if he’s free. The phone rings a moment later, and you answer immediately.
“No, don’t- Chen!” Tim scolds.
“Uh, hello?” you greet.
“Hi!” a woman replies. “My name is Lucy Chen, I’m Tim’s rookie. You asked if he was free on the 23rd and I’m calling to say that he absolutely is.”
“Good, good,” you reply, chewing your bottom lip. “I actually have a really big – huge – favor to ask him, so maybe I’ll call him back later.”
“What is it?” Tim asks.
“Uhm,” you hum, trying to find the right words. “I need someone to play Santa at the charity event for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and UCLA’s pediatric department.”
“I… can’t,” Tim says after a moment.
“He means he won’t,” Lucy adds.
Your shoulders drop as you murmur, “Okay. Bye.”
After you hang up, you realize that Tim Bradford is your only chance. If he really won't do it, you either have to put a woman in the Santa suit and hope for the best or disappoint every child and parent in attendance by announcing at the last minute that Santa can’t make it. You’re stuck between a rock and a hard place, but at least the diner down the street has good hot chocolate that will help you get your mind off it for a few minutes. You wave at Holly on your way out, then try to think of exciting, merry, and bright things rather than the coming disappointment as you walk to your favorite diner. As you enter, you notice three men sitting in the booth closest to the door, but they’re the kind of men you know you wouldn’t invite to be in the same room with wealthy women or children, let alone both at the same time.
Tumblr media
“Robbery in progress at Vicksen’s Diner,” dispatch alerts. “Callers report three armed men, and one is blocking the main entrance.”
“7-Adam-19 responding, code 3,” Tim radios before hitting the lights and sirens.
“Vixen’s Diner?” Lucy repeats. “They must really like Christmas.”
“V-i-c-k-s-e-n,” Tim corrects. “It’s the last name, the family has owned the place for decades. The call you intercepted earlier?”
“What about her?”
“She’s probably there. It’s her favorite place and they have Christmas specials right now.”
“How do you know that?”
“Focus, Chen,” Tim snaps as he turns the sirens off. “We’re approaching the rear exit without a sound, understood? Our priority is to get these people safe, then and only then do we go after the robbers.”
“Yes, sir,” Lucy agrees.
Tumblr media
“I don’t have any more cash,” the owner explains again. “It’s the twenty-first century, genius, most of our business is card or tap-to-pay.”
“And it’s Christmas,” you add from your booth. “Just go.”
“Not until I get something!” the man screams.
“How about a one-way trip to jail?” someone adds. “We already called the police.”
“Then pay up or they’ll have a body,” one of the other robbers says, turning their gun toward the customer.
Someone clicks their tongue, and you look over to see Tim Bradford and who you assume to be Lucy Chen standing behind the counter.
“LAPD,” Tim says. “Weapons down, hands up, or your Christmas is going to be even worse.”
The man closest to the counter tightens his grip on his gun, then curses and drops it as he raises his hands.
“I recommend you follow his lead,” Lucy tells the man beside you.
“Open the door,” Tim dares the final man. “My partner out there would love to lay you out.”
All three men surrender, and you watch Tim as he cuffs and zip-ties them while his rookie calls for backup.
“You said you had a partner out there!” the men complain.
“I lied,” Tim says as he stands. “You should know what it’s like.”
Three more patrol cars park outside, and officers take the would-be thieves out of the diner as Lucy checks on the owner and the other patrons. When Tim walks to your table, you lean back and look at him.
“I really need your help,” you explain. “It’s one night and you’d get paid.”
“It’s not about the money,” Tim replies. “Are you okay?”
“Then what is it about?” you press. “We both know you’re great with your nephews even if you hate to admit it. It’s only a few hours of asking kids what they want for Christmas, a few pictures, and then- then I’ll buy you dinner, whatever you want.”
“Why are you asking so close to the event?”
“Because I already had a Santa, but he tore his rotator cuff and backed out on me at the last minute. You know I wouldn’t ask something like this unless I really needed it.”
Tim nods, though he’s wondering why he is the one you’ve chosen to show your persistence and desperation to. Surely, you know other men capable of wearing an uncomfortable polyester suit and saying ho, ho, ho.
“You didn’t answer my question,” Tim points out. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. One of them pushed me out of the way, but-“
Tim moves closer to you and bends to look into your eyes. His gaze moves over your face before catching on the slightly red area against the side of your neck.
“You sure?” he whispers.
You nod and smile before you push past him to exit the booth. “I have to get back to work and find a Santa or break hundreds of hearts. Be safe, Tim.”
Tim watches you walk toward the door, and Lucy’s eyes widen as she gestures wildly toward you.
“I’ll do it,” Tim calls. He tells himself it’s because you’re so persistent and seem stressed, but deep down, he knows there is more to it than that.
“You don’t have to,” you say as you face him. “Don’t do something that’s going to make you miserable just because I need help.”
“I’ll do it,” he repeats. “Text me the details?”
“How ‘bout I just pick you up on the 23rd? Around noon?” you reply.
“Sure.”
“Thank you, Tim,” you say with your hand on the door. “You’ll never know how much this means to everyone… to me.”
Tim nods as you leave to return to work, and Lucy claps silently.
“Get in the shop, boot,” he demands.
Tumblr media
“You look nice,” you compliment when Tim opens his door the morning of the event. “The red suits you.”
Tim swallows as he looks at you and says, “You don’t have to butter me up, I already said yes.”
“I’m just calling it how I see it,” you assure him.
“I thought this thing didn’t start until 4,” Tim muses as he locks his door and follows you to the car.
“It doesn’t, but we have to get the Santa suit fitted. If you want to leave after and come back at 3, you can take my car.”
Tim shrugs and buckles his seat belt. When you turn the radio to a Christmas station, Tim immediately switches it to a football show. Your jaw drops as you turn toward him.
“You don’t like Christmas music?” you ask incredulously.
“I just don’t think it’s okay to give someone 23 birds,” he explains.
“My car,” you argue when he reaches for the control.
“My Santa debut,” he replies.
You give up and back out of his driveway with an exaggerated scoff.
“Why do you want me to be Santa anyway? I get that you had to ask people you know but I’m clearly not jolly enough.”
“Why is that?” you inquire. “I can understand not loving the music or the commercialism. The rest of it, though, that’s what I don’t get.”
“Just… don’t love the holidays. Reminds me of the things I don’t have anymore, I guess.”
Glancing at Tim, you wonder what it feels like to be someone’s for the holidays. Yes, it’s hard to be jolly when you miss someone, but for a moment, you wonder what it would be like to listen to carolers and decorate the tree while being in love.
“What’s this event like?” Tim asks, pulling you from your thoughts. “Been working on it long?”
“Since September,” you answer. “It’s geared toward the kids, but we have to do something to get the parents in too, so there’s raffles, a silent auction, dinner, and an area where they can sit with each other while someone else watches their kids.”
“So, it’s for donors?”
“At first,” you explain. “The donors are welcome to come anytime between 4 and 7. Then, we make everything absolutely perfect and bring in the kids from the hospitals at 8. They get more time with Santa, more gifts and games and treats. I know we have to raise a lot of money, but it’s not worth it if the kids don’t get to have fun with it too.”
“You’re really good at this,” Tim compliments, looking at you. “I didn’t know how much you put into all of this.”
“Now you regret saying no at first, huh?” you tease.
“That depends on how good the cookies are.”
“Then why are you so nervous?” you ask as you pull into the event center’s parking lot.
“I’m not-“
“It’s hidden well, but it’s there, Tim. You know you’re good with kids, so don’t let the size of this get to you.”
“I’ll try.”
“And if you get overwhelmed, Santa can always take a cookie break. I’ll be around if you need anything.”
You wish Tim luck as you drop him off with the wardrobe designer you hired, then begin transforming the space into a winter wonderland.
Tumblr media
“Are you okay?” Holly asks as you finish constructing the games for the children from the hospital.
“I came to ask the same,” Santa says from behind you.
You turn quickly and smile at the sight of Tim in the suit. His beard has been set aside while he takes a break, but something about seeing him this way feels right.
“I’m fine,” you assure them. “Rich people are hard to please, I’m used to it.”
“Nobody should get used to people screaming in their face because the caviar is room temperature,” Holly argues.
“Is that what it was about?” Tim asks with a humorless laugh.
“He got over it. I actually saw him eating the caviar later,” you say. “Besides, this is the part of the night I’m here for.”
“You’re an excellent Santa,” Holly tells Tim. “The kids went on and on about you.”
“Told you,” you sing song.
“Do I give gifts to every kid?” Tim asks you.
“Yes, give them as many as you want because we have more. The red candy cane paper is more girly gifts, blue snowflake paper is for boys, and the gingerbread paper is gender neutral,” you list. “The elves also have a list of what we have, so if a kid asks for something specific, someone can check for you.”
“You should’ve been a cop,” Tim muses. “I wish my boot could keep things this streamlined.”
“You need to get back to the Northpole,” Holly says, glancing at her watch. “Not that this isn’t adorable.”
“Tim,” you call as he walks away. “Thank you.”
“It’s the only thing you’re getting for Christmas!” he replies.
Holly smiles as she moves to your side, and you glare at her.
“A gorgeous man wrapped in a Santa suit,” she muses. “You got every girl’s dream gift.”
“He isn’t mine,” you remind her.
“Christmas seems like the perfect time to change that.”
Tumblr media
“Excuse me?” a young girl asks.
“Hello,” you greet, smiling as you squat beside her. “What’s your name?”
“Sally,” she answers. “Will you go with me to see Santa?”
“Of course!” You offer your hand and lead Sally through the crowds of happy children and grateful parents to get in line to see Santa. “What are you asking for this year?”
“I want a Hug-Wave,” she says softly, wrapping both her hands around yours.
“What’s that?”
“It’s twin stuffed animals, and when you hug one, it sends a hug to the other. I want to give my brother one so I can send him hugs when I have to stay in the hospital. He’s coming to see me on Christmas, but I miss him.”
Your eyes tear up, and you smile at Sally as you move forward in line. “I’m sure Santa will bring you one,” you assure her. “Look, we’re next!”
“You’ll stay with me?”
“Of course, Sally.”
As you walk onto the red carpet platform, Tim looks at you before looking at Sally. You mouth her name, and Tim calls, “Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas, Sally!”
“You know my name?” she asks softly, stopping beside his knees.
“Santa knows all of the good boys’ and girls’ names, and you, Sally, are on my nice list!”
“Do you want to sit on his lap?” you ask Sally.
She nods but keeps her hand firmly in yours. You move to Tim’s side as he pulls her onto his leg and blink to get the tears out of your eyes as Sally tells Santa about the hugging stuffed animal she wants to stay close to her brother.
“I think you and your brother would love that, Sally,” Tim says. “I’ll tell my elves about your wish, and we’ll work on that.”
“Thank you, Santa,” Sally says before pulling her hand from yours and hugging Tim.
You wipe your face before taking Sally’s hand and leading her to pin the nose on Rudolph, where she plays with kids like she didn’t just tug your heartstrings. Turning to check on everything, you notice that the Santa chair is empty, and the elves are entertaining the children in line. Less than a minute later, Tim returns and continues to visit children and parents alike.
Tumblr media
“Psst!” someone calls.
You furrow your brows as you turn, and when you see Lucy, your eyes widen in shock.
“Santa asked me to bring you this,” she whispers as she slips a large gift bag through the door. “Care to be an elf for me?”
“Thank you,” you tell her. “I’ll take it to him now.”
“It looks amazing in here!”
“You’re welcome to stay, Lucy.”
You walk toward the North Pole area and tap an elf’s shoulder to take the gift to Tim. He excuses himself after the last child and walks to your side with the bag in his hand.
“Where’s Sally?” he whispers in your ear.
You look up at him and feel your tears building again as you say, “Tim–”
“I’m Santa tonight.”
You locate Sally sitting at a table with her parents and brother and eating a cupcake. Following behind Tim, you press your hand over your mouth as he kneels beside her and offers the bag. Her parents look at one another in shock as she removes the bears from the bag, then mouth their gratitude to Tim. Sally passes her brother a bear, and they begin hugging them to hug one another, and you decide this is the Christmas miracle you hoped to see.
Tumblr media
Tim exits the small dressing room in the back hallway and doesn’t see you before you wrap your arms around his neck to hug him.
“Thank you,” you whisper against his neck. “For being Santa and for giving Sally the gift.”
Tim tightens his arms around your waist before you pull back. “It’s the least I could do,” he deflects with a shrug.
“No, it isn’t,” you insist. “I talked to Sally’s parents. They can barely afford gas to go back and forth to work and the hospital right now because one of them has to stay with her full-time because of her treatment. That’s why her brother can’t visit much.”
“Is she…”
“The doctors are hopeful that her current treatment is working,” you assure him. “They’re expecting to send her home sometime in the spring if she continues improving. Tim, you made their entire year.”
“You deserve some of that credit.”
“You pulled off a Christmas miracle, it’s all yours.”
“Does that mean you’ll tell me why you chose to ask me to be Santa?” Tim asks with a smile. His hands are still on your waist, but you’re dreading the moment when he steps back.
“Because I knew you could do it,” you answer. “You’re the only person I know that is kind and generous, selfless without letting people know it, and even if you get mad at me for saying it, you are kind and a big softie. You’re special, Tim Bradford, and a gentleman, and the closest thing I’ve seen to magical in a very long time. That’s why I asked and kept asking.”
“Well, you’re the closest thing I’ve seen to Mrs. Claus… ever,” he replies lightly.
“Without the time to bake and ‘Mrs.’ you mean.”
Tim shakes his head and asks, “Who helped you decorate?”
“Holly, mostly. Why?”
Lifting his chin, Tim gestures to the mistletoe hanging from the ceiling.
“It’s tradition,” you begin.
“You don’t have to convince me,” Tim interrupts.
He moves a hand from your waist to your cheek and kisses you. It feels like fireworks, warm hot chocolate, and every good and magical thing you can think of all at once. You move your hands to Tim’s jaw and move together, then pull back to thank him again.
“Thank you for calling Lucy and getting Sally’s gift here so quickly.”
Tim’s brow pinches as he says, “I didn’t call Lucy. I thought you got the gift here for her?”
You shake your head, then ask, “Well if you didn’t order it, and I didn’t order it, which Santa asked Lucy to bring it?”
Tim hesitates before he says, “It couldn’t…”
“There you are!” Holly calls as she enters the hallway. “I could not find this entrance, geez. Oh, hey, mistletoe!”
“You didn’t put this up?” you ask her.
“Me? No, I don’t even know where to buy mistletoe. That made me sound so single.”
You look at Tim, who smiles and whispers, “Christmas magic,” as he leans in again.

Snowed In at the Country Inn - Chapter 3
Tumblr media
The morning began with the soft glow of sunlight filtering through the snow-dusted town. You were making your way to the breakfast table, your boots crunching on the icy path. Jake trailed behind, his hands shoved in his jacket pockets, offering the occasional cheeky comment about how you could’ve saved him a seat instead of rushing ahead.
“You snooze, you lose,” you quipped over your shoulder, smirking.
Inside the cosy café, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries filled the air. Natasha and Bradley sat at a corner table, laughing over something on Bradley’s phone. You and Jake approached with your trays, looking for an open spot. Natasha noticed them first, waving them over.
“Plenty of room here!” Natasha offered, scooting over to make space.
The four quickly fell into easy conversation. Natasha and Bradley, charming and approachable, asked about your and Jakes plans for the day.
“We’re just helping out with the festival stuff,” Jake said casually, leaning back in his chair.
“Oh, so it’s a couples’ volunteering thing?” Natasha teased, her eyes twinkling.
Your eyes widened. “Oh no, we’re not—”
“Definitely not,” Jake added with a grin. “Though, she’d be lucky.”
You rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the slight warmth creeping up her cheeks. Natasha raised an eyebrow knowingly, and Bradley gave Jake a playful nudge.
“Sure, sure,” Bradley said, smirking. “You two have that vibe, though. Just saying.”
After breakfast, you and Jake headed back into the snowy streets, the conversation from earlier still lingering in your mind. Jake seemed unbothered, whistling a tune as they walked.
Tumblr media
Later in the day, as you and Jake passed the town square, when you spotted Penny and Pete in the midst of a heated discussion. Penny’s arms were crossed, and Pete was gesturing animatedly toward a stack of crates.
“What’s going on?” you asked, approaching.
Penny sighed, looking visibly stressed. “As you know, the snowstorm’s blocked the roads, and the big shipment of supplies we needed for the Christmas festival can’t get through. Without it, we’re going to have to cancel the main event.”
Pete added, “We’ve tried calling around, but no luck. Everyone’s stuck until after Christmas.”
Your brow furrowed in thought. “Maybe there’s a way to work around it. In my planner, I have a section for last-minute event disasters. We had something like this happen once at a fundraiser, and we managed to improvise.”
Penny’s face brightened slightly. “Really? I don't want to be a bother, you've already helped so much. Besides, these were supposed to be your holidays. ”
“It's no bother really,” you said firmly. “It’s Christmas. We’ll figure something out.”
Jake crossed his arms, giving her a playful grin. “Living up to your last name, Miss Hallmark.”
She rolled her eyes, a small laugh escaping. “Real funny.”
Pete and Penny exchanged a glance, something unspoken passing between them. “Remind you of anyone?” Penny murmured to Pete, who chuckled softly.
Tumblr media
As the day went on, Natasha pulled you aside while you were sorting through decorations in a storage shed.
“So,” Natasha began, leaning casually against a stack of boxes, “what’s the deal with you and Jake?”
You nearly dropped the string of lights you were untangling. “What? Nothing. There’s no deal.”
Natasha smirked. “Come on. You two have been glued to each other all day. The banter, the looks—it’s pretty obvious.”
“You’re seeing things,” you said firmly. “We’re complete opposites. And after the holidays, we’ll go our separate ways. It’s not like we’ll ever see each other again.”
Natasha’s smile softened. “Sometimes opposites work. And sometimes, taking a leap of faith is worth it.”
Meanwhile, Bradley found Jake lounging near a fire pit, sipping on a hot chocolate. He plopped down beside him, grinning.
“So, when’s the wedding?” Bradley teased.
Jake rolled his eyes but smirked. “Real original, Bradshaw. She’s just helping out with the festival.”
“Sure, sure,” Bradley said, nudging him. “You’re totally not into her.”
Jake didn’t answer right away, his gaze flickering toward the storage shed, where you and Natasha were still talking.
“She’s… different,” he admitted finally. “Not what I expected.”
Bradley grinned. “And that terrifies you, doesn’t it?”
Jake scoffed, trying to play it cool. “Please. She’d be lucky to have me.”
Bradley laughed, clapping him on the back. “Keep telling yourself that, Hangman.”
Tumblr media
As the sun dipped lower, casting the town square in hues of gold and amber, Jake and you worked together to hang string lights. You balanced on a ladder, carefully stretching to hook a string over a tall beam. The lights swayed in your hand as you leaned a little too far, and suddenly, your footing slipped.
“Whoa!” you yelped, arms flailing.
Jake moved faster than you could react, his hands steadying you around the waist as you fell against him. He smirked, his green eyes alight with mischief. “How many times are you going to fall for me?”
You let out a shaky laugh, brushing off your embarrassment. “Maybe stop standing so close to ladders, and we’ll find out.”
He chuckled but kept his hands on you a moment longer before helping you down. “Alright, Hallmark Queen. Where’s the next string going?”
You arched an eyebrow. “You call me Hallmark Queen again, and you’ll be the one falling. Off the roof.”
But Jake’s attention drifted to your open planner on the table nearby. He picked it up, flipping through the meticulously organized pages, a mix of curiosity and amusement on his face. “What’s this? ‘Christmas Eve Fireworks Contingency Plan’? ‘Backup Hot Cocoa Recipe’?” He snorted. “Do you plan your whole life like this?”
You snatched the planner out of his hands, glaring at him. “It’s called being prepared. Not that you’d understand.”
Jake leaned against the table, folding his arms. “I just don’t get it. Why plan every little detail? Big moments—especially with people—are supposed to happen naturally. If you care about someone, it shouldn’t feel like a checklist.”
Your fingers tightened on the planner. “Maybe not everyone can afford to sit back and let things happen. Some of us have to make sure things work.”
“Work? It’s Christmas, not a military op. Relax a little,” he said, trying to keep the mood light.
But your voice turned icy. “Easy for you to say. You’ve probably coasted through life, grinning your way out of trouble. Not everyone gets that luxury.”
Jake frowned, sensing the sharpness beneath your words but unsure of its source. “Whoa. Where’s this coming from?”
You hesitated, struggling to keep your emotions in check. “It’s nothing. Just drop it.”
Jake tilted his head, studying you. “You know, for someone so good at planning everyone else’s joy, you’re pretty lousy at opening up about your own stuff.”
Your eyes flashed, and you bit out, “You wouldn’t get it. People like you never do. You joke, you charm, you let everything roll off your back—and when things fall apart, someone else has to fix it.”
The sting of your words hit him, but his gaze softened as he caught sight of a faded photo sticking out of the planner. It was of a woman with kind eyes, unmistakably your mother.
“Is this your mom?” he asked gently.
You stiffened, snatching the photo away, as if protecting a piece of yourself. “Just leave it.”
Jake hesitated, sensing the depth of your guardedness but unable to stop himself from saying, “You know, sometimes you’re so uptight, it’s like you were raised by a drill sergeant.”
Your breath caught, and you turned on him, your voice trembling with barely restrained anger. “You have no idea what you’re talking about. And maybe if people around me weren’t so carefree, I wouldn’t have to be this way!”
Jake’s frustration bubbled over. “Carefree, huh? So I’m the problem now? Maybe people like you should try letting go for once instead of trying to control everything.”
Your voice rose, shaking with emotion. “Control? You think I want to be this way? I have to be. Because if I’m not, then everything—everything—falls apart.”
The rawness in your tone caught him off guard, but before he could respond, you stepped closer, your words cutting deep. “You think life’s just a series of lucky breaks, Jake? It’s not. Some of us have to fight for every bit of security we get. And I plan because it’s the only way to make sure no one else feels as lost as I did.”
Jake faltered, realizing too late he’d hit a nerve he didn’t understand. “I didn’t mean—”
“Forget it,” you interrupted, your voice breaking. You turned to walk away but froze when he called after you.
“Hey,” he said, his tone quieter now. “I wasn’t trying to—”
You stopped, glancing back over your shoulder, tears glinting in your eyes. “Save it, Jake. Just stick to the lights.”
As you walked away, Jake rubbed the back of his neck, guilt and confusion warring within him. Watching your retreat, he muttered to himself, “Way to go, Seresin. Real smooth.”

Manager of my Heart
Warnings : None
Summary : As the manager of Luxiem, you were responsible with managing these boys. Who would've know these boys would develop... An interest in you..?
Tumblr media
(In this fanfic, NIJISANJI is an ACTUAL office, where all the liver's go to, to stream :PP)
In the bustling heart of NIJISANJI EN's headquarters, there was a palpable sense of excitement as Luxiem prepared for their upcoming anniversary stream. The members being Luca, Shu, Ike, Mysta, and Vox
They were well-known for their charisma and charm, but behind the scenes, they shared a common, unspoken distraction. Their interest for you, their manager
You were the definition of efficiency, your head always buried in your planner, phone pressed to your ear as you coordinated events, sponsorships, and media appearances. Your obliviousness to anything not but your schedule was almost comical at most
As they gathered in the conference room to discuss the stream's logistics, the members exchanged knowing looks. Each harbored a gentle admiration for you, appreciating your dedication and often, your unintentional neglect of their not-so-subtle hints of affection
Shu, more reserved, showed his affection through helping you when your in need. Like, helping you with the technical issues. Your not the brightest when it comes to technical stuff, but luckily Shu was there to happily lend you a helping hand!
Ike, the dear novelist, attempted to engage in deep conversations about books and art, hoping to catch your interest. Even though, you always engaged, you were to caught up with work to notice the deeper intentions behind his words
Luca, threw flirtatious comments your way. But, in a very dorky way “(Y/n), if I had a stream for every time you crossed my mind, I’d never be offline" You chuckled, scribbling notes without missing a beat. “Make sure those streams are scheduled properly, Luca. We wouldn’t want your fans missing out on any of that charm”
Mysta, helping out with anything he can, just to help you with your work, and not stressing us much about your work, yet sometimes his 'help' makes more problems for you. Yet, you still really appreciate him trying to help as best as he can!
Vox, definitely more protective of you when you guys are out. Whether you like it or not, he'll definitely accompany you when your out and about. He doesn't want any creeps to go near you
And despite their efforts, you remained blissfully unaware of there hints of affection. To you, these were just endearing quirks of your talented team, nothing more, nothing less
The anniversary stream was a roaring success, filled with laughter, games, and an outpouring of support from fans
As the night drew to a close, you gathered them together, your eyes sparkling with how proud you are of them!
“You all did wonderfully tonight!” You beamed, your genuine appreciation warming their hearts. “I don’t know what I’d do without such a dedicated team!"
As they all shared a celebratory toast, the members exchanged glances once more. Perhaps it was better this way, their feelings a quiet undercurrent that strengthened their bond rather than complicating it
After all, in the whirlwind world of vtubing, some secrets were best kept just between the lines of a planner and the quiet moments before the stream went live

GO BACK TO SCHOOL AS HER
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ACADEMICS
Try to recreate your ideal study routine before. Study any subject you want using that specific study routine that you can when school opens. This gives you enough time before school starts to make any adjustments needed.
Get a head start. If you do have access to your curriculum or syllabus, read or actively study content on those topics. If you don’t, you can usually search up your class and your state which shows what you’ll be learning.
Experiment with study methods + note-taking. For study methods, search up different ways to effectively study, and pick at least three that appeal to you. Then pick any topic you want, and use those methods to study that topic. See which one worked the best for you and which wasn’t.
For note-taking, search for some ways to take notes, and choose at least 3 that appeal to you. Then watch a video/lecture on any topic, and use those methods to take notes on it. See which ones that worked the best for you.
Create a planner or diary. Use it to keep track of your assessments, assignments due dates, events at school or any after-school activities. This planner would be just purely for school-related things.
I think a digital planner would work best with most students, but some traditional ones are equally as good. It’s up to you to choose how you want to plan your school life, but you need to have at least one planner.
Find a good study website/app. There are so many academic websites/apps out there that can aid you while studying, which are just at your fingertips.
I recommend Duolingo, Quizlet and Khan Academy. Of course, there are so many more out there so I encourage you to explore your options. Some websites are just dedicated to one subject.
Set SMART goals. Set academic goals that are achievable and realistic. Wanting all A’s or 100’s all the time is just way too unrealistic, and the pressure of wanting to reach the standard you set for yourself is just going to stress you out.
Wanting a certain award, or A’s in certain subjects allows you to allocate your focus properly and is within reach. While you should definitely strive for good grades, avoid getting caught up in the mind trap of trying to achieve ‘perfect’ grades.
Create a study place and ritual. Before school starts, choose a place anywhere in which you study regularly. Avoid having more than one, because having just one allows you to settle in and focus better.
If this place is in your house, ensure that the space around it is clean and free of anything that wouldn’t serve you while studying. Plus, you can put up some cute motivational quotes.
A study ritual is habits that you do before studying, that help you while studying. You can create your own of whatever things that help you to be more productive and focused.
HEALTH
Establish a sleep routine early. A week before school preferably, start waking up at the time you’d have to go to school and sleeping at your desired time. This is so that when school starts, you’re not feeling groggy while getting ready because you’ve already adjusted to the time.
Talking about sleep, ensure that you practice good sleep hygiene as quality sleep enhances brain performance and improves energy levels throughout the day.
Plan your meals at school. For us who have canteens or cafes near our schools, we tend to just eat whatever and we forget to nourish our bodies. You still can buy from them, but the night before, try to think about what you can eat for lunch the next day instead of impulsively buying.
Carrying small containers of fruits or vegetables to go with my canteen lunch is my favourite combination.
Carry a water bottle. I used to always forget to stay hydrated during school, so instead of drinking from fountains, I now prefer to carry around my water bottle from class to class.
Wear SPF.
Just having it sitting on my desk while I’m working, reminds me in my mind to drink water. Water also boosts brain performance!
Create a stress management plan. There are going to be times when you feel stressed, but we want to avoid stress impacting our academic performance and mental health.
Before school starts, plan what to do if you feel heavily stressed. This could be like a menu of things you can choose from or a step-by-step guide that you follow through. This plan should contain things that relax you, make you happy and distract you from stress.
Practice good posture. Once school starts, we sit at a desk all day, and most of us forget the proper way to sit while studying/working in class. This can lead to slumping or hunching on a chair, which encourages bad posture.
Remember throughout the day to practice good posture, if you can, put a little reminder on your device. Posture stretches before the school days also help.
Try to incorporate exercise into your schedule. Exercise is frequently neglected when we just have so much studying to do and we’re busy with other activities, but exercise is essential to leading a healthy lifestyle.
The good thing, is you don’t have to do it every day. Doing it 2-3x a week should be enough. Going on walks during lunch/recess, cycling to school or participating in gym are easy ways to incorporate during the school season.
Keep your bag lightweight. Carry the absolute essentials to school, having such a heavy bag can do a number on your back and also affect your posture. If you do have one, try to keep most things in your locker instead of bringing them to and from school.
Engage in social media mindfully. There are so many toxic studying accounts out there that encourage unrealistic expectations or offer harsh ‘motivation’ to students.
Please don’t interact with these types of accounts, even if they provide motivation to you, it is not sustainable at all.
SELF CARE
Choose your favourite way to take a break. Not just once a week, but always take breaks every day. If you want these breaks to be somewhat productive like reading a productivity book or exercising, then go ahead.
However, your breaks can also be ‘unproductive’. Play some games, go online shopping or just take a nap. One break is not better than the other, I just encourage you to take any kind of breaks you want daily.
Plan to engage in hobbies regularly. It is easy to neglect our passions and what brings us happiness when we’re focused on school. If you can, have a chunk of the day just purely for doing hobbies. It can be for 1 hour, 30 minutes or 10.
Or, join an afterschool club that focuses on that specific passion or hobby. Not only is it time for you to engage in the things you enjoy, you meet like-minded people who also enjoy it.
Try to plan things with friends and family. Before school, meet up with your friends or family and do things with them. Once school reopens, opportunities to hang out with your loved ones are scarce. So, do it now.
Create a no-hard productivity day. Plan a day in which you are doing the most minimal amount of productivity that you can. While you can include a few productive things, nothing that is mentally or physically exhausting is allowed on this day.
If you are way too much of a productive or goal-oriented person to spend one day of no hard productivity, create a catch-up day. Choose one day of the week that you focus on completing or doing anything that you didn’t do all the other days.
Keep a journal on you. Sometimes things happen during the school year, and it does cause conflicting or upsetting emotions within us. Creating the practice of journaling before school reopens is a good way for us to process our emotions and situations.
Carry a book you like in your bag or locker. When you finish all of your work in class, or you just want to take a break, you can read a good book. This is also a good alternative to spending your lunches and recesses when you’re not in a sociable mood.
Create a reward system. For example, if I study for x minutes, I can do x for myself. Or I can x grade, and I’ll get x. These don’t have to be big or extravagant rewards, but something simple like one episode of your favourite show can do.
MINDSET CHANGES
Practice a growth mindset. You are going to experience failure at least once (if not more) during your school career. You mustn’t take these experiences to heart, and instead, use them as lessons to encourage self-growth within you.
Practice this mindset now, so that when school reopens, you won’t have a problem with extracting lessons from failures.
Use comparison as a source of inspiration or motivation. It is easy to compare ourselves with our peers, as we are similar ages, but their skills can exceed ours. Instead of using up all of your energy to be envious of the, channel that energy into bettering yourself. Not to beat them, but to beat yourself.
View studying as a time to develop your skills. While yes, we do study to get good grades, studying can help us to grow our other skills as well. We build our discipline, focus and critical thinking as well.
So when you don’t get the best grade from an assessment or assignment, don’t beat yourself up and think all that studying was for nothing. You were building those skills, so next time, you can apply them when you have to study again.
Set firm boundaries with others and yourself. There are times when you just have to say, I have to study. Not just to others, but to yourself. Practice these boundaries before school when it comes to more general productivity.
There is no rejection, just redirection. Change your mindset that rejection is nonexistent, and there is only redirection. Incorporate it in your daily life like;
‘there’s no more stock left of my favourite product, there’s probably something better out there.’
That being said, I’m not saying that if there is a barrier to your goal, you just move on. However, you should not be chasing things that are not meant for you and shift your focus when necessary.
Detach when needed. Stop attaching your value or worth to things that are external and can easily be gone. This doesn’t have to apply to just grades, but also other situations.
Try to start reading or researching about detachment before school reopens.
Time is your most valuable resource, use it to invest wisely. Your teen years are going to be the most suitable time in your life to start investing in yourself.
You have fewer things to worry about(aside from grades) and you have a lot of opportunities now to explore the things that you want. Please, don't spend this time doomscrolling or any other time-wasting activity.

Lucifer x Reader who is very good at chess
Going to make an attempt to get one more post... maybe two if I work fast enough out before I have to call it a day. Hope you enjoy, Anon! C:
I'll try to get to other requests tomorrow!
Tumblr media
He likes to consider himself a good planner, and thus good at chess. Now... he's not terrible, but he is no where near his level. He tries not to let it hurt his ego, and honestly? He's a little proud of you for being so good at something! Bonus, if it makes you happy or gives you something to keep yourself stimulated. He wants you to be healthy and that includes mentally.
He might get a little sour after losing a few games, but that's just him being a little competitive when it comes to games...
If you ever enter any chess tournaments he's going to be your loudest cheerleader, he might just kicked out of the event!
Gets you really high quality sets, I'm talking sets with chess pieces made of a rare crystal and boards plated with gold and silver. It can sometimes look a little... tacky... but he wants every reason to spoil you!
